Andrea Lieberman, Petra Flannery Team for A.L.C. Dinner

The flurry of Los Angeles store openings continues at Palisades Village, the latest being A.L.C., the contemporary brand founded by former stylist Andrea Lieberman in 2008. Lieberman teamed with her former assistant and current super stylist Petra Flannery to host a small dinner at The Draycott on Thursday for her close friends Liz Friedlander, Jennifer Meyer, Erin Foster plus stylists Karla Welch, Erica Cloud and Annabelle Harron. Draycott owner Marissa Hermer was also in the mix, as was actress Olivia Hamilton.
“A small gathering is more my speed,” said Lieberman, a Westside resident. “I admire all these women so much and am so thankful for their support all these years.” Flannery has similar praise for her old boss and good friend. “I’ve learned so much from her, and how she puts her brains into her business. Andrea is proof that you can do it all — family, work, friends.”

She’s certainly come a long way since she opened her first shop in New York’s SoHo, Culture & Reality. That was inspired by the two years she spent living in Africa post-Parsons, and Lieberman said she still treasures a trunk of old merchandise that her father saved from

Stylist-turned-designer Andrea Lieberman’s A.L.C. brand is the latest tenant to join Caruso’s forthcoming Palisades Village retail center, set to open on Sept. 22.
On Tuesday, fellow tenants Elyse Walker and Jennifer Meyer hosted guests including Giada De Laurentiis, Minka Kelly, Maria Shriver, Selma Blair, Jaime King and Molly Sims for cocktails at Rick Caruso’s home, followed by a four-course dinner curated by James Beard Award-winning Chef and Palisades Village tenant Renee Erickson of General Porpoise.

“I live on the West Side of Los Angeles, so the new store feels like a really direct way to speak to my customer,” said Lieberman, who just opened a New York store in TriBeCa. “I think it’ll be my go-to spot,” she said of Palisades Village, which will also be home to Zimmermann, Cynthia Rowley and Sephora Studio, among others. Los Angeles-based tenants in attendance that night included Hannah Skvarla of The Little Market, Lisa Kraynak of Carbon38 and Leilani Bishop of Botanica Bazaar.
Walker and Meyer gathered their friends to come support the new venture. “Maria [Shriver] said she had another dinner, and I said, ‘Please, you live down the street, just come for a cocktail,’ and she did,” said Walker. “Do you

A.L.C. RTW Spring 2018

First, the navy wrapped tailored blazer with a dropped shoulder and blouse sleeve was Andrea Lieberman’s “favorite,” she declared during a preview of her spring collection a day after the New York Fashion Week shows officially closed. Then a pair of marigold accordion-pleated palazzo pants came out and they were her favorite. Oh wait, the dense linen twisted cropped top with one sleeve over a pair of double-waisted black pants was definitely her favorite. Until the yellow, floral-print silk dress with a single shoulder came out and that was, truly, her favorite. A mother loves all her children equally, right?
Finding ways to dress up chilled-out sportswear is definitely one of Lieberman’s favorite stylistic moves. Examples of it filled the collection, including fluid suit jackets and pants inspired by track pants, elevated tracksuits, tunics worn over fluid wide-legged pants, soft floral dresses, a chic and easy silk kimono robe and a pajama set — everything was shown with chalky suede Nike Air Cortezes from her recent collaboration. The sporty/feminine mood will be familiar to followers of the brand, but Lieberman ushered in newness via an exotic urban motif loosely derived from North Africa. The palette included desert pink, yellow and nude

Chrissy Teigen Attends A.L.C. x Intermix ‘On Duty’ Dinner in L.A.

Chrissy Teigen isn’t one to hold back when it comes to indulging in her favorite foods, so the model and her pal, stylist-turned-designer Andrea Lieberman, chose trendy Los Angeles eatery Jon & Vinny’s as the venue for a dinner to launch A.L.C.’s new collection for Intermix, titled “On Duty.”

The 16-piece contemporary line, for which Teigen was the muse, includes Lieberman’s takes on the classic white shirt, black trousers, track suit and other wardrobe staples, and ranges in price from $ 128 to $ 895 retail.
Lieberman started the collection with the track pant. “Since my days as a stylist, traveling around the world, I’ve wanted to find a pant that could take you from city to city, day to night. Pair it with a sneaker, pair it with a heel, it is equally cool and totally effortless,” she said. “My good friend Jen Atkin puts it best, ‘Life is hard, looking good should be easy.’”
The collection is available exclusively at the retailer’s web site and brick-and-mortar boutiques. Guests, including Teigen’s stylist Monica Rose, singer Kacy Hill and Justin Bieber’s stylist Karla Welch, all got the dress code memo, arriving in white shirts and black pants.

A.L.C. RTW Fall 2017

At the risk of defaulting to ye old flagrant fashion cliché, Andrea Lieberman’s fall collection was based on “classics with a twist.”
The lineup was populated with essentials, such as striped T-shirts with subtle details on the back, knits that laced up the back, tailored jackets, a floral dress with a cutout back, cropped, flared leather pants and tracksuits — a nod to her early days as a hip-hop stylist. “The goal was to take a lot of those elements and elevate them,” Lieberman said. To her point, a range of cool fur coats in interesting colors — teddy bear brown and dusty pink — took track pants with zip-front legs to a new level.

A.L.C. Pre-Fall 2017

Andrea Lieberman’s pre-fall collection was all about seasonless dressing — specifically making clothes that could be appropriate all year long. “The pieces you want to buy in pre-fall are really year-round,” said Lieberman. With an eye toward soft and deep colors, such as peachy pink and deep green, she worked on easy, wardrobe staple shapes that had transitional value — slipdresses; bomber jackets; floral-printed dresses and the stretch ribbed knits meant to be layered onto looks. One of the things the lineup did well was keep the slipdress-layered-over-a-shirt look alive with pink dresses worn over white shirts and a black slip over a crisp white blouse.
