Sarah Brightman Returns from Space Training for New Album and Tour: ‘I Needed to Earth Myself’

Sarah Brightman is making an astronomical landing with her fifteenth studio album Hymn.

After spending months in Russia training for a trip to outer space that she postponed in 2015, Brightman, 58, opened up to PEOPLE exclusively about the creation of her newest album and the planning stages of her tour.

“I needed to earth myself,” says the soprano singer. “I said I would like to do an album of songs which are full of light, full of hope. Songs that remind me of when I felt safe and familiar with things in my childhood when I sang in my church.”

“If I don’t use and I don’t convey my feelings through it, I feel depleted,” she added. “I don’t function very well and that’s the beauty of having a gift like a voice. You sort of know what to do. You know what direction to take, you know that you want to communicate through it.”

Brightman, who shot to fame after star-turning roles on Broadway musicals Cats and Phantom of the Opera, linked up with producer Frank Peterson for the album-creating process. What came out of two-and-a-half years of planning and recording was the dynamic, choir-filled album, Hymn, out on Nov. 9.

“ is about looking into the good in things because I do believe that good prevails always,” she said, adding that the word “positivity” would describe her album.

“I did experience huge amounts when I was in the space program that actually how precious everything really is on this beautiful planet and how precious that is,” she added.

Now, the “Time to Say Goodbye” vocalist is ready to take Hymn on the road later this fall for a tour that’s “going to be quite beautiful.”

“I have a lot of energy. I tend to before I go on these tours, I become more energetic,” she says. “You create a power for yourself which will protect you because when you go on tour you’re dealing with the hardship of jet lag and moving around continually.”

The “Angel of Music” singer says her set on tour will be divided into two halves. The first will feature a more retrospective aspect to Brightman’s music, which will look like “somebody who is going to the ballet or the opera.” The second will be a bit more modern and feature most of the songs off Hymn.

“I’m wearing all these amazing runway gowns, which I’ve made a little more theatrical by adding things to them. Stones, crystals, all sorts of stuff,” she says. “I’ve got a big choir behind me. Up really high. I’ve got an orchestra on one side, a band on the other side and myself in the middle.”

Brightman’s album is filled with collaborations with artists like French tenor Vincent Niclo on single “Sogni” and Japanese composer Yoshiki on the emotional “Miracle.”

“ is a really interesting guy and we got along very well,” she said. “It was a very interesting collaboration with Japan’s most famous rockstar writing a beautiful contemporary classical piece.”

Along with the collaborations, Brightman’s album jumps from classical and cinematic music to pop rhythms in a cohesive album threaded by its spiritual nature. The album also takes fans back to one of her most famous classics “Time to Say Goodbye” with Andrea Bocelli, which she recreates in a touching English rendition.

“I wrote the lyrics for it but they were very much inspired from the original Italian lyrics when translated,” she said. “It’s quite a grand song, it’s almost like an opera song, but I wanted to do this in a very intimate way.”

Fans can purchase tickets for “Hymn: Sarah Brightman in Concert” through her website.

Miley Cyrus Dishes on Musical Inspirations—from Father Billy Ray to Elvis Presley—at Album Release Party

Not that anyone’s keeping track, but it’s safe to say this was the first album release party that began with a guest appearance by a puppet.

And that was just Act I of Miley Cyrus’ three-act extravaganza, thrown for about 150 super-fans who packed into the third floor of Nashville’s most iconic downtown honky-tonk, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, on Friday night to celebrate the release of Younger Now.

The new album is a declaration by the 24-year-old artist, who’s spent the past decade successively reinventing herself, that she’s now embracing all her former selves (yes, including those Hannah Montana years) – and Cyrus put an exclamation point on it by throwing her release party back in her countrified hometown.

Her embrace also explains the puppet, a tiny ginghamed girl doll that debuted in the video for the “Younger Now” single.

“Look at Baby Miley’s dress!” Cyrus, 24, exclaimed as she popped up in the puppet’s elaborate theater set. “This is a dress that I used to wear when I was a little girl!”

The puppet was there, she explained, to “represent that the same person that’s standing here right now is the same person that’s here beside me, which is Baby Miley, which is always inside me.”

As her tiny alter-ego watched adoringly, Cyrus took questions from the crowd so “fans could understand how I made the album, why I made the album and why it’s so important to me.”

Her main impulse, she explained, was to no longer run away from her “life story.” She also pointed to her father, country artist Billy Ray Cyrus, as a primary influence in her new music, which has a strong country-pop vein.

“My dad,” she said, “really inspired this record a lot, I think, going back into those roots of everything he instilled in me.”

Sure enough, to emphasize her point, she brought out Billy Ray for the evening’s Act II, a segment she entitled “My Dad Always Says.” The elder Cyrus’ task: to offer counsel to the audience “because,” according to Miley, “he’s always given me the best advice ever.”

Billy Ray obliged by sharing that he always tells his daughter, “Watch what I do, and don’t do that, and you’ll usually get through life pretty good. … Does that make sense?”

“Yeah,” Miley countered. “Don’t grow a mullet, basically.”

“Hell, grow the damn mullet,” Billy Ray parried in defense of his trademark 1990s-era hairstyle. “Hell, yeah, man.”

Act III was a 45-minute set of nine songs, including four from the new album. Cyrus also brought her father back on stage for a rowdy duet of his signature hit, “Achy Breaky Heart,” and she covered Nancy Sinatra’s sassy “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” which her dad has included in his own act.

Every song was a crowd-pleaser for the Miley-philes gathered – some of whom had flown in from as far away as Miami and Detroit for the event – but a selection of early hits drew the most deafening cheers. These included “See You Again,” the 2007 debut single from the Hannah Montana days, a song Cyrus tearfully introduced as she recalled her family’s move to California so she “could live my dreams.”

The singer made sure to point out that her childhood best friend, Lesley Patterson, whom she mentioned in the lyrics, was in the audience – which “also makes me cry,” said Cyrus.

Throughout the evening, Cyrus also scattered tidbits about her new music and stories behind the songs. “Miss You So Much,” she said, was “the hardest song to finish” since it dealt with the shocking overdose death of a friend’s boyfriend.

“Rainbowland,” Cyrus’ collaboration with her “fairy godmother,” Dolly Parton, was “the craziest writing experience” of her life, she said, because Parton relied on a fax machine to communicate. “She did write it on a typewriter,” Cyrus revealed.

The inspiration for “Week Without You” was not fiancé Liam Hemsworth – which has been speculated – but, in fact, Cyrus’ “first true love”: Elvis Presley. She wrote it, she explained, to “kind of sound like a song out of his Blue Hawaii” – her favorite Presley movie because his love interest shares her name.

Cyrus wouldn’t identify the muse behind “She’s Not Him,” though most assume it’s based on her brief liaison with model Stella Maxwell. Instead, Cyrus said, she wrote the song “to actually normalize bisexuality” because “I don’t think there’s any songs, any films, any music – anything – that makes bisexuality feel normal for us.”

Hemsworth’s name was also something she avoided mentioning during the entire event, though she did hint that her lyrics have allowed her to let “people into, like, my private journal … of how I really, really feel and … the love that I feel in my life for the things that I feel in my life.”

That includes “Malibu,” of course, which she described as her love song to her beach home, even though the lyrics are obviously directed toward a romantic partner. Cyrus also noted the irony of the song’s title just when she’s decided to “move back to Nashville.” (She recently purchased a 33-acre farm in nearby Franklin.)

Her passion for her hometown, she said, is also the reason she’s staying off the road for the time being. “I would love to go on tour, but right now I am back in Nashville,” she explained to clearly disappointed fans. “I’ve just really been enjoying being home and being with my animals.”

“I want to be in Nashville,” she added, though she said she wouldn’t rule out a “local tour” – a comment that filled the room with raucous cheers.

The Funny Story Behind How The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’ Album Got Its Name

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” could have been a totally different album altogether, were it not for a simple misunderstanding.

Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has revealed how the title and concept of the British band’s eighth album actually came to him during an airplane flight with roadie Mal Evans.

McCartney said in an interview posted to his website on May 25 that the idea behind the record, which celebrated its 50th anniversary Thursday, all emanated from him mishearing Evans asking him to “pass the salt and pepper.”

“I thought he said Sergeant Pepper,” said McCartney. “I went, ‘Oh! Wait a minute, that’s a great idea!’”

After having “a laugh about it,” the 74-year-old musician said he immediately “started thinking about Sergeant Pepper as a character.”

“I thought it would be a very interesting idea for us to assume alter egos for this album we were about to make,” he added.

The rest, as they say, is music history.

Diving Into Lorde’s Dreamy And Dramatic Album Art

Lorde revealed the album art for her sophomore album “Melodrama” today, a painting by New York–based artist Sam McKinniss. The image depicts our Lorde and savior tucked into bed, locking the viewer in with her signature intense-as-hell gaze.

McKinniss has described intensity as a core element of his artistic practice, illuminating a parallel between the two artists’ penetrating styles. “I think that’s always been my style really, just looking at pictures intensely,” he told Gayletter in 2013. “Being intense. And see if you can respond in some way to the world that you live in visually with light and color.”

It’s understandable why an artist obsessed with intensity, light and color is the perfect choice to visualize the album whose first single is called “Green Light,” and was described by Lorde on Twitter as “the story of the last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life.

LANA 4EVER

A post shared by Sam McKinniss (@wkndpartyupdate) on

Along with intensity, McKinniss’ paintings, which often feature pop culture icons as their subjects, feed off drama. Talking to ArtNews, he described “human perversity, elegance and drama” as the key motivations behind his work.

In his loving yet slightly depraved depictions of cult celebrities from Lana del Rey to Winona Ryder, McKinniss’ fixation with spectacle is on full view. His painted subjects are drenched in shadow and electric light, elevating them from humans to icons, celebrities to artworks. Sounds just about right for an album called “Melodrama.”

From the little we’ve seen and heard regarding Lorde’s upcoming album, McKinniss’ blend of neon light and dark underbelly makes for a stunning visualization of Lorde’s matured sound. More, please, soon.

It’s safe to say that in the cacophony that has been this political season, we are all looking for some peace.

“It’s such a noisy time in history, people want something quieter,” says Daniel Goans, one half of the duo that makes up Lowland Hum.

Indeed. And one need look no further than this husband-wife team, who just finished up their fourth album, “Thin,” which is due out Feb. 10, 2017.

The other half, and some may refer to her as his better half, Lauren Goans says that when it came time to record “Thin,” they wanted to get back to their roots. “When we started doing music together, it was just the two of us,” she says.

As the couple’s sound palate grew, so did the band. They hired musicians to go on the road. “In the end, we realized we wanted to be more true to who we are, just the two of us,” Lauren continues. “I feel like it’s a coming back to the beginning, but we are different people now.”

Daniel adds, “This album incorporates some of what we did in larger musical settings but distills it down. We make a quiet kind of music.”

And fans are in for a treat because they can watch the making of “Thin” in this exclusive video release right here, right now.

From the outset, this duo, who are originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, has written, arranged and produced their own music.

The Goans now call Charlottesville, Virginia, home and that’s where they recorded “Thin” in a friend’s attic and filmed the video in the couple’s apartment.

“Part of the vision for the video, and really for what we do in general, is we are trying to combine a voice out of two perspectives,” Lauren explains. “We wanted to give a picture of what our life was like.”

For example, the tea that plays a starring role in the video “was a big part of our life,” while they were recording, Lauren adds.

The audio from the video, which was produced by Pando Creative Co., was recorded in the place where the couple recorded “Thin,” Daniel explains.

“We set up a microphone and she asked me questions and then I asked her questions,” he says, adding that they try to be individuals and not diminish each other but the combination creates the whole that is Lowland Hum, which is also reflected in the duo’s name.

Lauren says, “Picking a name for yourself is weird. You want it to be of the same spirit. Then one morning I saw the two words, Lowland and Hum, together in my mind. I am a visual person. A lot of what we write about is hard to pin down. Threads buzzing with electricity connecting things. The name alluded to it. It’s much more mysterious, kind of like songwriting. A lot coming from outside the creative process is mysterious. I think it came from beyond us.”

The paired formed as a musical duo in 2012, not long after they were wed, and have released an album each year since. You may have had a chance to catch them at such festivals as Phuzz Phest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, or Scythian’s Appaloosa Roots Music Fest in Front Royal, Virginia, but their big break came when they caught the attention of NPR’s Bob Bolin, whose team produces the now famous “Tiny Desk” concert series.

“That gave us legitimacy,” Daniel says. “Nothing else has had that kind of effect.”

Watch Lowland Hum’s Tiny Desk concert here.

But what really makes these two click is making music — together. “I wake up every day and say, ‘Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go. We really do just love it. I think we feel the most that we are where we are supposed to be when we are creating something together.”

Lauren adds, “This is what we’re best at.”

You can listen for yourself live when Lowland Hum opens for Josh Ritter in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Dec. 2 and in Richmond, Virginia, on Dec. 3 and with Mountain Chaser in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 9. The duo embarks on headlining dates during the first part of 2017 to support the release of “Thin,” according to their publicist.

Martin Shkreli Finally Shared The Secret Wu-Tang Clan Album

Martin Shkreli, the former Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO who famously increased the price of a pill used by HIV patients from $ 13.50 to $ 750, shared part of the secret Wu-Tang Clan album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” to the world over Periscope on Wednesday. Then he deleted the video.

Shkreli, a questionable human being who was arrested late last year over securities fraud allegations, purchased the sole copy of the album last year for $ 2 million, and then didn’t let anyone hear it. But in October, he promised via Twitter that he would share the album if Donald Trump won the presidential election, which the then–Republican nominee did early Wednesday morning.

And so it was that Martin Shkreli “shared” the secret Wu-Tang Clan album. Though he subsequently deleted the video, some people ripped it and then uploaded it to YouTube and Streamable, so here you go:

The Huffington Post didn’t reach out to Shkreli for comment, but he did publish the below tweet early Wednesday morning, which is better than any comment he could have provided to us anyway.

Watch Wild Ponies Premiere Video for ‘Night We Never Met’ Prior to May 13 Album Release

Mark your calendar for Friday, May 13, because that’s when you can purchase your very own copy of Wild Ponies new album, “Radiant” out on No Evil Records. To tide you over, here is the exclusive premiere of the video for the hauntingly beautiful, “The Night We Never Met,” from the new album.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsqgCXl8Dzo&feature=youtu.be

Telisha says, “The idea of a video of me in a slip would’ve terrified me a year ago, but about five months ago, I started taking burlesque dancing lessons, and my opinions of my body have completely changed. It’s my body, and it’s carried me through some incredibly beautiful and traumatizing moments. There’s a power in me and my body that didn’t recognize and appreciate before. Without my burlesque experiences and community, I don’t think I would have been able to lay confidently on a bed in the middle of a snowy field in Kentucky on a 20-degree night.”

While I found the whole album to be brilliant, if you’re not sold on “The Night We Never Met,” buy it for the single, “Love Is Not A Sin,” alone. Trust me on this one.

Here’s a snippet of a verse: “It doesn’t matter who you love, when two lovers find each other, I’d say it’s sanctioned from above …”

The tune was written long before North Carolina’s H.B.2 and similar legislation was recently enacted, but it addresses the issue head on in Wild Ponies unique rootsy, rock and oh-so eloquent way. Listen for yourself here.

Natives Doug and Telisha Williams came full circle on Saturday night for an album’s release party at The Rives Theatre in downtown Martinsville, Virginia. If you missed it, you can hear the band perform at Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival on May 26-29 in nearby Axton, Virginia. Warning: Ticket prices go up May 1 and are going fast.

“My mom started hosting house concerts in early 2001 in her basement,” Doug explains. “She had Hayes Carll and The Green Cards as backup bands along with a bunch of others. We then helped start an organization called Artisan Cafe in town.”

That Artisan Cafe eventually merged with another group to form ARTS at The Rives Theatre, where the couple played on Saturday to an appreciative hometown crowd including parents, cousins and longtime friends. “We knew family that owned The Rives and we helped start the nonprofit ARTS at The Rives before we moved to East Nashville. We stayed for a long time trying to turn it around and make it an artisitic place.

“We’re thrilled with how it’s going. They are doing just an awesome job and we’re excited to have our album release party there.”

The Americana, folk, alt-country group also includes Megan Jane and Fats Kaplin who produce a sound on the album that seems to radiate from a much larger, fuller band.

“Radiant” is the sophomore album for Wild Ponies, formerly known as Doug and Telisha Williams. They decided to change the name of the group because it was more than just the husband-and-wife duo, who have been playing together since high school. Their longtime collaboration as musical partners — Doug on guitar and Telisha on stand-up bass — and life partners is apparent on stage and they say translates into a telepathy that other bands may not have.

“We changed over to Wild Ponies with the last record, ‘Things That Used to Shine,’ ” Telisha explained in a recent phone interview. “When you hear two names, it’s what you envision, pretty folk, acoustic and kind of not how our music was going.”

Indeed. “Born With a Broken Heart” and “Unplug the Machine” from “Radiant” are perfect examples of the band’s evolution to a harder-edge sound as well as “Trigger” from the aforementioned album. Doug added, “We felt like things are shifting and changing and even as a duo it didn’t accurately describe who we were. Wild Ponies shifted a little more electric.”

Telisha adds that she and Doug believe in building a creative community and participating in a creative community. “I feel like this is such a record of collaboration ,” she said, adding they co-write with friends on a regular basis.

One of the collaborations they are most excited about is the title track they co-wrote with 12-year-old Mariah Moore, whom the Williamses met through volunteering with the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Words & Music program.

“I have to admit, there’s probably a little defiance in all of this,” Telisha said in release. “Bucking the way things ‘should’ be done. We just want to make good art, and that usually means bending some rules.”

“Tower and the Wheel,” partly inspired by an old tree on Doug’s grandparents’ farm, signifies another theme — celebrating the past, with a few modern twists. The song includes details about the tree that’s stood for generations on the family farm, but the B-sections were inspired by tarot cards. I personally hear shades of Nanci Griffith in Telisha’s voice on this particular track.

“I’ve known that tree my whole life. It knew my mom and my grandparents even way back before that. That tree was really old before anyone in my family owned the farm. But she’s still there, strong as ever,” Doug said. “It’s where we’d tie the horses, and where we’d pull the porch chairs around in the shade and the dirt and play songs, where Telisha and I cut our wedding cake.”

But when Doug and Telisha were writing the chorus sections of the song, they took an unconventional approach “Nothing we were trying was working, so we laid out eight Tarot cards and wrote all those eight parts right from the way they fell. They lined up perfectly between our verses and finished the story for us.”

For Doug, “Radiant” is about reaching out from within, looking at the world around, relating to it, and trying to find some empathy. For Telisha, it’s also about standing still, tall, and true.

“Listening to our last record, I hear the struggle. I hear the transition of a victim pushing, pulling, letting go, standing up, and shouting,” she said. “This record is more stable and secure in some ways but raw and exploratory in others. There’s an acceptance and love for myself. I’m feeling confident in my own skin. A skin that’s full of battle scars and flaws, but that I’ve learned to love and appreciate, maybe for first time.”

There’s no slowing down Wild Ponies it appears. Doug says this summer the band plans to make an all-acoustic record at his grandfather’s farm in Galax, Virginia.

“My grandfather played with old-time players from Galax and around that area, so we’re going to bring some of our Nashville friends and hopefully throw them together with some guys from Galax right after the Old Fiddlers’ Convention.”

From the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas to East L.A. to the barrios of Chicago, people are listening to the heartfelt, accordion-driven sounds of conjunto. Born in South Texas in the 1920s, conjunto has become popular throughout the United States, Mexico, and, of late, Europe and Japan. But Texas remains the heart of conjunto music making. Indeed, the largest conjunto festival in the world is the Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio, founded in 1982.Puro Conjunto! is a wide-ranging collection of writings taken from the festival’s program magazine, Tonantzin. These writings include scholarly essays, articles by journalists and music critics, interviews with legendary performers, autobiographical accounts, short stories, and poetry. Their subjects include the history of conjunto music, its signature instruments, the social context and functions of conjunto, and personal histories of conjunto music giants. Most of these pieces have never been published elsewhere. Photos and full-color reproductions of the festival posters accompany the text. This collection should interest conjunto and folk-music fans, as well as students and scholars. Like the music, this book can be used in a variety of ways: as an entertaining survey of the genre, a valuable supplement to college textbooks, or a handy resource for research.

Sarah McQuaid Tours and Enchants With Her Brilliant New Album, Walking Into White

Finding treasure feels great, and such is the case with musician Sarah McQuaid. The soulful singer, smart and sensuous songwriter, and scintillating guitarist has been hidden in plain sight with three gorgeous solo albums, and her fourth — the recently-released, critically-acclaimed Walking Into White — reveals a truly magnificent artist primed to enchant the masses. Sarah’s current U.S. tour continues through October before she carries on in the U.K., and listen: I’ve attended hundreds of concerts of all kinds, and her subtle mastery onstage launches her straight into my fave shows ever. One voice, one guitar, and the wondrous reminder of the magic of music. Sarah has the gift.

While Mrs. McQuaid and her Jedi-esque manager-engineer Martin Stansbury log thousands of highway miles, it’s my pleasure to join them for terrific Thai cuisine and discuss the storied life and career of this focused yet easygoing chanteuse. We promptly explore Walking Into White:

“It was new territory for me in a number of ways,” reveals Sarah. “I was working with my cousin, Adam Pierce, as producer, whereas the previous three albums were all recorded in Ireland with Gerry O’Beirne producing, and this one was recorded in Cornwall, New York, with Adam producing. Another change is that the previous albums were all made over fairly sizable periods of time — where I would kind of go in, and do a recording session, and then come back out, and then go back in and record some more.”

2015-10-06-1444151112-897571-IMG_20151006_125406.jpg

“With Walking Into White,” the artist continues, “I already was in a really hectic tour schedule when the album was being planned, and over the few years in between The Plum Tree and the Rose and Walking Into White, I was constantly jotting down song ideas — both using audio memos on my phone, jotting down little melodic ideas, and chord progressions and so on — and also writing down bits of lyrics. Because the tour schedule was so hectic, I hadn’t finished a single song by the time we booked the studio time. We really just had 15 days in three weeks to do the whole thing: to record and mix the album. That actually turned out to be a really good way of working, and I’m going to do that again.

“Because the songs were all written in one intensive session, I think they fit together really well, and I think also I was conscious of making them all quite different from each other, in terms of: rhythmically, and what keys they’re in, and what I was doing with the guitar, and what the general feel of the song was. I was thinking, ‘I’m putting a suite of music together, and I want to make sure there’s plenty of variety and contrast.’ And also they all came out of the same kind of creative space, in a way, if that’s not too airy-fairy a way to talk.”

For new songs “Where the Wind Decides to Blow,” “The Tide,” and the title track, Sarah illuminates in her new album a literary inspiration perhaps unfamiliar to American audiences.

“It reflects a moment in time, and what themes are running through my head, and I guess one big theme would be the natural world and how we interact with it: partly because I was reading this series of books to my kids — Swallows and Amazons, which are all written by Arthur Ransome — and thinking about how a lot of situations in the books were kind of wonderful kind of metaphors for life, you know — and metaphors drawn from the natural world.”

Born in Spain, Sarah grew up in Chicago and Washington, D.C., before carrying on through disparate locales such as France, Pennsylvania, and Ireland — eventually settling in England’s west country. Since she impressively cites the decidedly-not-Disneyfied Wind and the Willows chapter, “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn” as an inspiration for “Pipe and Tabor” (from her album Crow Coyote Buffalo, with singer Zoë Pollock, together as duo Mama), I ask if she also grew up with the Swallows and Amazons series.

“My husband had read them as a kid,” she clarifies. “They were written back in the ’20s and ’30s, and they’d been read to my husband by his mum, and at some stage, when the kids were young, my in-laws, his parents, gave us a box set of all 13 books. He was like, ‘Oh, these are great!’ And I had never come across them, because I don’t think they really made it over to this country. They’re very English books — and they’re of their time. There are a few politically incorrect moments in them — which I kind of fudged over when reading them aloud to my kids. (laughs) With asides of, ‘Now, this is the way people used to talk in those days.’ (laughs) ‘We don’t do this anymore.'”

“And songs that aren’t drawn from the Swallows and Amazons series,” Sarah elaborates, “like ‘Yellowstone’ was inspired by a thing my son wrote on a piece of paper. Basically he was lying awake at night and worrying about things, so I said to him — because this had worked for me — I said, ‘Why don’t you try writing down your worries on different pieces of paper, and once they’re written down, they’re on the paper, and they don’t have to be in your head anymore.’ He did that, and that worked for him, but of course I being his mother had to go and look through the bits of paper where he’d written down the things that he was worried about. And one of the things that he was worried about was this underground volcano underneath Yellowstone, and the danger that it would erupt and somehow set off a chain reaction of volcanoes.”

Sarah notes that at the show I attended, a geologist approached and explained to her that her son’s elaborate chain-reaction concerns were unfounded. But still that volcano is potentially problematic. I ask how her son found out about it.

“Well, he’s an inveterate reader of Wikipedia,” she laughs. “So, we don’t have TV at all, but we do have computers, and he’s a mine of information which he gets off Wikipedia. He comes up with the maddest things like: gummy bears came up in conversation one time. I don’t know — somebody mentioned gummy bears. Were you talking about Haribo, Martin?”

“I think we were talking about Haribo,” responds the stalwart Martin. “We’d been in Germany.”

“You want peanut sauce?” knowingly asks the server.

Affirmative on the peanut sauce. Sarah cheerfully continues:

“Somebody was talking about gummy bears, and my son said: ‘Gummy bears were invented by so-and-so in such a year, by somebody in Germany in 1926’ or whatever — and I was like, ‘Really?! Let’s see if he’s right!’ and I got out my phone, and looked it up, and he was right.”

I let slip a flash of sincere wonder.

“He just has the most amazing ability to retain information,” adds Sarah.

Between tour dates in Toledo and Chicago,
Sarah makes a new friend in South Bend, Indiana

One of the standout songs on Walking Into White is “Jackdaws Rising,” which makes for brilliant and unusual performance material, with Sarah delivering its polyrhythms via stomps and handclaps, plus a round of three simultaneous verses, all looped live by maestro Martin. I ask if she’s dealing in metaphor, but not particularly: these jackdaws really swoop where she lives, and this is a word painting.

“I’m just describing what I see. I guess the kind of metaphorical bit, where I get kind of dreamy about it, is I’m thinking about the whole thing of twilight, and the whole thing about the crossing of worlds, and that this is the time when there’s a window through to the spirit world, and it’s supposed to be the time when all the ghosts are about, as well. It feels kind of spooky, because — you can imagine, this cloud of black birds suddenly all flying up at once into the sky, and making huge amounts of noise, and then they [whooshing sound effect] back into the tree again. It’s an amazing time.”

(“Damn, you’re cool,” silently reflects the journalist. “Why aren’t more people cool like you?”)

In closing, I ask the inspiration for the album’s lovely opener, “Low Winter Sun.”

“‘Low Winter Sun’ — that also is kind of a word picture of a very specific time and place. It’s driving up the hill from my house up to the nearest village — especially in winter, when the sun is low. As you’re driving up the hill, the sun just hits you straight on in the face, and blinds you, and you can’t see anything. And there’s these wonderful kind of stunted hawthorn trees, and the wind has shaped them, so they’re kind of curved over. And when it’s winter, and the branches are really clearly outlined, and the sun is hitting you in the face, you see this branch shape against the light, and it’s just really stark and very intense.

“It’s funny,” smiles Sarah, patient as her Pad Thai cools, “because I try to write songs that are universal in the sense that anybody can listen to them, and feel like it’s about their life in some way, but with imagery, I tend to pick on a particular, very specific piece of imagery. But hopefully my emotional reaction to that very specific image is similar to the emotional reaction another person would have to the same image. So if I describe the image, then maybe the emotion can be universal.

“If that makes any sense!”

Pope Francis Is Releasing A Pop-Rock Album In November

Looks like someone answered our prayers.

According to the Rolling Stone, Pope Francis will release a “prog-rock-infused album” called “Wake Up!” in November of this year. The 11-song album is currently available for pre-order on iTunes. Premiering on Nov. 27, 2015, it will feature Pope Francis’ “words and prayers.”

The album is a collaboration between the Pope and Believe Digital, an independent artist distribution company in Europe. According to Don Giulio Neroni, who worked on the album, this is not the first time a Pope has released music.

“I had the honor to work with John Paul II, Benedict XVI and now Pope Francis,” said Neroni in Rolling Stone. “As in the past, for this album too, I tried to be strongly faithful to the pastoral and personality of Pope Francis: the Pope of dialogue, open doors, hospitality.”

Head over to Soundcloud to hear the Pope’s first single, called “Wake Up! Go! Go Forward!” now. Or, buy the single here on iTunes for $ 1.29.

A Look At Bernie Sanders’ Spoken Word Album And Full Discography

We all know that Bernie Sanders recorded a spoken word album. But not a lot of people know that Bernie has a robust catolog of musical work. So I thought it was important to look at all of Bernie Sanders’ albums and see where his spoken word album landed. Also, I’m sure you’ve been in one of those “What’s your favorite Bernie Sanders song?” conversations at a party. Everybody is rattling off hits like “We Shall Overcome” and “The Banks Are Made Of Marble,” and you’re thinking, “Those are the only two I know!” Don’t worry! This should help you out.

“We Shall Overcome” (1987)

The album that put him on the musical map. Just great top to bottom. It speaks to his ability, and we get a sense of exactly who he is and what he’s about. Very rare for a freshman album.

RATING: 4.5/5

“Bernie” (1989)

Bernie’s true sophomore album fulfilled every bit of expectation. Bernie spends every track on this album taking on race relations and shining a light on topics that nobody was talking about at the time. With tunes to make you get up and get down. I mean the hook in “Institutional Racism Is Real And We’ve Done Little To Stop It” makes you want to jump on your bed and scream, “BERNIE BABY!”

Bernie LIVE at the Forum. This release was a brilliant move by Bernie to simmer expectation after such a hot start. He decided to record a live album with everybody’s favorite hits while sprinkling in a few new tracks. Also, some of the best mid-song banter OF ALL TIME! Lil Wayne Drops New Album, ‘FWA,’ On Tidal

Lil Wayne just gave us one more reason to celebrate this Fourth of July weekend.

At midnight on Saturday, the rapper surprise-released his new album, “FWA,” (short for the “Free Weezy Album”) exclusively on Tidal. The 15-track album features the 33-year-old’s new single, “Glory,” as well as collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Young Jeezy and Cory Gunz, among others.

Though Lil Wayne dropped the new music unannounced, he previously hinted that he had something in the works with Tidal, the streaming service partly owned by Jay Z.

“I just signed a deal with my motherfucking idol Jay Z,” the “Lollipop” rapper told the crowd at KMEL’s Summer Jam in Oakland, California, in June.

Let freedom and the new Lil Wayne album ring, y’all.

Christina Aguilera Releases New Ballad, ‘Anywhere But Here’ For ‘Finding Neverland’ Album

Christina Aguilera takes on Neverland in her latest song “Anywhere But Here.”

The singer released the lyric video for the new song on Tuesday, which is Aguilera’s reimagining of the opening song from Broadway musical “Finding Neverland.” Matthew Morrison of “Glee” sings the original song in the stage production, which follows the story of author J.M. Barrie, the man behind Peter Pan.

Aguilera is just one of the many musical names contributing to the Broadway show’s concept album. “Finding Neverland the Album” also features music from Zendaya, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez and Trey Songz, Nick Jonas, and more. The album comes out on June 9.

Madonna Releases Six New Songs In Response To ‘Rebel Heart’ Album Leak

Unfinished mixes of Madonna’s upcoming album, “Rebel Heart,” appeared on the Internet this week after leakers decided they couldn’t wait until spring 2015 for the Queen of Pop’s “MDNA” follow-up. In the wake of their actions, Madonna randomly released six new songs off the album, immediately available for purchase on iTunes and other online retailers.

“I was hoping to release my new single ‘Living for Love’ on Valentine’s Day with the rest of the album coming in the spring,” Madonna said in a statement. “I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift.”

The released tracks include “Living for Love,” “Ghosttown,” “Devil Pray,” “Illuminati,” “Unapologetic Bitch” and “Bitch I’m Madonna,” featuring Nicki Minaj. Producers include Madonna, herself, Diplo, Kanye West, Billboard, Dahi and Blood Diamonds. In an Instagram post that has now been deleted, Madonna reportedly described the leak as “artistic rape”:

This is artistic rape!! These are early leaked demo’s half of which wont even make it on my album the other half have changed and evolved. This is a form of terrorism. Wtf!!!! Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best?

“Rebel Heart” will be available for purchase during the first week of March, and Madonna will release more new music on Feb. 9.

Logic’s ‘Under Pressure’ Is 2014’s Best Hip-Hop Album So Far

When you release a series of acclaimed mixtapes like the “Young Sinatra” series, and the time for your major debut has come, pressure tends to build. When your sister calls you crying because she can’t shake the memory of the man who raped her — and she’s popping pills because she thinks she’s repeating the same mistakes as your mother — pressure tends to build. When you’re dad, who was absent for almost all of your life, addicted to crack cocaine, calls asking you to stop rapping about his addiction and also requests money for his new girlfriend, pressure tends to build.

This is the world of Logic, and the many adversities he’s encountered during the first 24 years of his life could have kept the Maryland-born rapper anchored below the surface. But what would seem a cage to almost anyone –the once “literal underground artist” spent his mixtape years living and recording in his friend’s basement, which is depicted on his new album’s cover — was not: The travails of Logic’s life became an oubliette, and when enough pressure comes in contact with the right body, the result is a diamond.

To say Logic’s “Under Pressure” lived up to its hype would be an understatement. Throughout the album’s 12 tracks, Logic continues to demonstrate that he has one of the top five flows in the game. He also amps up his production chops, providing tracks that comfortably stand in line with Visionary Music Group’s sawed-off shotgun that is in-house producer 6ix and the record’s other contributors.

“It’s where I truly found myself, as an artist, as a young man, who I want to be, how I want to be perceived,” Logic told The Huffington Post. “The first thing you hear is the homage to Tribe Called Quest, you hear this computerized voice that is similar to ‘Midnight Marauders.’ The difference in mine is that I gave her a name, and her name is Thalia, one of nine sisters and daughters of the Greek god Zeus. Thalia was the muse of music, so it’s like it’s my muse taking you through all these cool little tidbits and fun facts about how the album was created. And overall, it’s a coming-of-age story about a young man growing into the man you see today and all the things I had to go through. From coming up broke, Section 8 housing, my mom and dad dealing with their drug addiction and alcoholism and them not ever being married, so my dad not really being around, and just all the things I witnessed.”

From the piano-led crooner that is “Intro” to the glitching vocal beat of “I’m Gone” to the hollow trap of “Nikki,” Logic pulls equally from golden age and new class artists, creating a 56-minute head-bobber that carefully balances its raps and beats. It’s the title track that captures the album at its most essential, featuring almost six extra minutes from the single version. In the addition, there are voicemails from his sister, brother and father, as well as Logic’s reply, revealing his struggle to let and keep his family in his life. “They say family is everything, I swear that shit the truth / I should spend it all with y’all, but I spend it in the booth / This is everything I love, this is everything I need / Never sacrifice this feeling even though my heart it bleed,” Logic raps. “Under Pressure” received an accompanying video that gives insight into what Logic wants listeners to take from the album.

“The whole thing really is deep,” Logic said. “The song and album ‘Under Pressure’ obviously hints diamonds, so the entire thing is a diamond heist, so it’s almost like breaking into the game. You’re trying to take out the best rappers, and not by dissing, but by your achievements. For me it’s almost like a Robin Hood story. Some people see it as violent, but it’s like, okay, you could take it there, but it’s a metaphor. It’s not like I’m chipping off heads or whatever. You go through all these obstacles, literally the ups and downs of all you go through to get these diamonds, and then go spread that to the world.

Another intriguing element to “Under Pressure” is the lack of any features from any other artists, a very uncommon occurrence for a hip-hop studio record.

“I wanted to create something that was just mine, my story,” Logic said. “I haven’t met Kendrick [Lamar] yet, but he’s someone I could envision on this record, or J. Cole, Nas, all these great people. And then I was with Don Cannon and he was like, not talking about anyone specifically, ‘Man, fuck everybody. This is your story. This what you have waited all your life to tell and you should tell it on your own.’ I thought about it, and realized he was right. I don’t need a cosign. It doesn’t matter who you are, being on this album isn’t going to help me sell records. They are going to listen to Logic because they like Logic. They might buy that single or that one track, but they’re not going to get the album. I decided I don’t need that, I don’t want that, I just want to tell my story, and then work with all the homies afterwards.”

As for other artists who are experiencing the same struggles that he encountered in his life, Logic has some suggestions for how they can take their art to the next level:

The first thing you have to do is get out of your city. Wherever you are, get the hell out of there because you will not shine, you will only be known as local talent. Word hard and be dedicated, but don’t be a fake hard worker. You can’t be at the club the whole time and pretend like you’re in the studio. You literally have to make it your everything. Kanye West, Sinatra, Michael Jackson, all the greatest of the greats have made their craft their everything. Made it their life and sacrificed years to be the best. You also need a team. It’s not about money, so don’t think about that first, it will come later. Be a good person, be kind and shake everybody’s hand in the room. If you don;t know about business, find somebody out there that knows about business and have them teach you the business while they’re working the business for you. Be smart and hopefully things will work out for you.

“Under Pressure” is undeniably the best hip-hop album of 2014 so far. This might only be Logic’s debut, but “Under Pressure” is the kind of record that listeners will look back upon 10 years from now with great fondness. Talent will make an artist famous, but it’s the courage, perseverance and kindness that Logic embodies that make an artist last.

Sorry, Adele’s New Album Isn’t Coming Out This Year

In today’s bummer news, Adele will release an album this year. Rumors about new music have circulated for months, but the New York Times now reports that we shouldn’t expect a new album from her until at least next year.

According to a statement in her label’s, XL Recordings, financial report, “There will not be a further new release by Adele during 2014 and consequently there will be a fall in XL’s turnover and profits.” The report was filed on Thursday in Britain, where XL is headquartered. The report also noted that Adele’s back catalogue — namely her 2011 album “21,” which sold over 25 million copies — counted for a “significant proportion of the sales and profit” in 2013.

Adele fueled the rumor mill earlier this year when she tweeted a cryptic message in May: “Bye bye 25… See you again later in the year.” Many fans took this to mean that she would release new music by the end of 2014, but, alas, they were wrong. May we suggest soothing your weary hearts with Aretha Franklin’s new cover of “Rolling In The Deep”?

The Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway Photo Album – Feb 23, 2007 (English eBook)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like, to skate on the longest ice rink in the world the Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway? This photo album show cases the incredibly fun Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway a few days after the Ottawa Winterlude Festival, which is held every year during the month of February from the 4th to 18th, in Ottawa Canada. It is the largest, most popular, and most fun event of its kind in the world! After skating on the Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway it is off to one of the best restaurants in Ottawa, Fathers and Sons. Located near the University of Ottawa, this university student oriented restaurant is renowned for its breakfast specials, delicious lunches and dinners all at very affordable prices. Fathers and Sons is a must stop for those visiting Ottawa to go skating on the Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway. Simple student atmosphere with very friendly service. I am a little biased though as this is my favorite spot! Afterward a delicious lunch at Fathers and Sons it is off on a shopping adventure to the Place D’Orleans Mall located 15.6km east of Ottawa (from the center). Place D’Orleans is only one of several great shopping malls in the city of Ottawa. Women visiting Ottawa for the first time will find Ottawa Malls irresistible. They simply have so many great products to offer. For those like me into high energy dance music, HMV is simply one of the best music stores in North America. I will travel all the way from California twice a year just to shop at the HMV at the Place D’Orleans Mall. Their dance music selection is simply one of the best. The pictures in this photo album were all taken on Friday Feb 23, 2007. The crowd on the ice was estimated at about 5,000 people. Discover the amazing Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateway, the most popular and longest ice rink in the world at 7.8km (5 miles) long! Come join in the excitement and then afterwards have even more fun shopping at one of Ottawa’s great malls! It will be a winter skating h

TIME Regrets Naming Pope Francis ‘Person Of The Year’ After Beyoncé Drops Surprise Album

Staff at TIME have been left fuming after Beyoncé released a surprise album just days after the magazine chose the Pope as their Person Of The Year.

“I told them we should wait at least a few weeks for any late entries,” one unnamed staffer told HuffPost UK Comedy. “But they wouldn’t listen. Now look what’s happened.”

“Beyoncé unexpectedly dropping a new album is a complete game-changer,” said another. “There’s nothing Pope Francis could have done to beat this… except for releasing an album. And even then, he’d have to better 14 new songs and 17 videos.”

Beyoncé is now expected to be a last-minute entry on at least 500 end-of-year lists, including 2013’s Best Albums and 2013’s Most Overrated Albums.

Beyonce Surprises Fans With New Album Featuring Jay Z, Blue Ivy, Drake

Beyonce knows her way around a holiday surprise. The singer end-capped 2013 with an “exclusive visual album” that hit iTunes as Thursday ticked into Friday morning. Her fifth LP is entitled “Beyoncé” and features tracks with Jay Z, Drake, Frank Ocean and the singer’s daughter, Blue Ivy.

Every song on the album also comes with its own music video, a mammoth investment for a singer at Bey’s level. The project comes amid whispers that Beyonce — who let the Presidential Inauguration and Super Bowl pass without a new single — wouldn’t let 2013 go without a new album. Whispers turned into a reality that played out on Twitter, where fans excitedly shared the news, mostly in all-caps messages that included the letters “OMG.”

Previously teased tracks “Standing in the Sun” and “Grown Woman” (which apparently has a video on the way, too) — did not make the album. “I see music,” Beyoncé said in a press release provided shortly after the album hit iTunes. “It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”

“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it,” she continued. “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”

This is a joyous and developing story. Please check back for more information.

RZA: Wu-Tang’s ‘A Better Tomorrow’ Album Still ‘Six Weeks Out’

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — RZA sees the latest Wu-Tang Clan endeavor as the end of the influential rap group as we know it.

The 44-year-old Wu-Tang leader and producer says he’s still six weeks or so away from finishing the Clan’s overdue new album “A Better Tomorrow.” The process has made him realize he’s got different priorities these days. “When you’re a young man, you’re hustling and you’ve got 12 hours a day to dedicate to music. It might be more than that,” said the rapper, whose real name is Robert Diggs, in a phone interview. “The energy that’s important is constantly pouring out. But when you’ve got to go seek for the energy, it becomes a little more difficult. Wu-Tang is forever, I’ll never take back that statement. But we haven’t recorded a lot of studio albums. This is the first album we’ve recorded in seven years, actually. And we can’t wait seven years for another album.”

RZA foresees a future where the spirit of the Wu-Tang Clan lives on in the children of the original nine members of the New York-based collective and in the untold scores of rappers, producers and entrepreneurs influenced by the group — folks like Drake, whose “Wu-Tang Forever” drew a lot of attention earlier this year. He’s had trouble wrapping up the collective’s plans in the now, though.

The 20th anniversary of the release of “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers),” the Clan’s still-powerful debut album, came and went last week, and the album meant to celebrate the moment remains a work in progress.

RZA says he traveled around the country gathering material for the album, even stopping over in Memphis, Tenn., where he conducted original recording sessions with players from the revered Stax and Hi record labels. Most of his production is complete, and most of the other members of the group — including GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Inspectah Deck — completed their versework in two sessions over the summer. He hopes to have it completed in 45 days or so after sending it to a few outside producers for final touches.

One obstacle remains.

“Everybody did their verses except Raekwon,” RZA said. “He hasn’t turned in his verses yet. I don’t know if he’s still trying to find the vibe of the music. We have to talk about it before it becomes too late. But he hasn’t come to the table yet.”

Attempts to reach Raekwon for comment were unsuccessful. RZA says he’s not sure if the project can be completed without his crewmate: “Well, you know what, that’s something that I would take a vote on with the rest of the crew. I’m not a dictator about that. Raekwon is a valuable energy to the Wu-Tang, his voice, his lyrics, his approach. Rae is a master lyricist.”

RZA’s got plenty to do in the meantime. He’s recently finished the screenplay for what he hopes will be his second feature film and he’s acting in the new Fox series “Gang Related,” playing a Los Angeles police officer on a Los Angeles gang unit.

“There are moles inside the police department from the gang culture, that’s the whole trick about the series,” he said. “Who’s going to turn out to be the double agents? Who’s gang-related? Each week it’s getting closer. I don’t know if it’s going to be me or not.”

More and more, he sees acting — not producing — as his 9 to 5.

“I live in a capitalist country so I respect, ‘Cash rules,'” he said. “That might get me on the mic at 50. But I prefer not to be on the mic at 50.”

The Royal Baby Book: A Souvenir Album

The Royal Baby Book: A Souvenir Album

From golden rattles and miniver-trimmed short coats to baby’s first pair of shoes, embroidered with tiny gold crowns, “The Royal Baby Book” tells the story of eight royal babies, from Queen Victoria to the new Prince George of Cambridge, whose birth this summer set in motion “royal baby mania” in Britain and beyond, with royal-baby birthday parties, a collector’s paradise of commemorative trinkets, and crowds of well-wishers who gathered for weeks outside London’s St. Mary’s Hospital with the hopes of catching a quick glimpse of the wee ruler-to-be. For “The Royal Baby Book”–the official publication marking the birth of the new heir to the British throne–the Royal Collection Trust has drawn on a wealth of previously unpublished materials from the Royal Collection and the Royal Archives to offer a look into the lives of eight royal babies across almost two centuries: Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George. From infancy to the first wobbly steps and the first day at school, the book presents never-before-seen family photographs, as well as photographs of prams; tiny dresses; dolls and teddy bears; and the lost teeth, locks of hair, and little notes in childish scrawl that all parents know and treasure. The book concludes with a chapter devoted to Prince George, bringing this happy history up to the present. With 250 illustrations and full-color photographs, “The Royal Baby Book” will charm and captivate anyone who has ever had a baby in their life–royal or otherwise.

‘Matangi’ Review: M.I.A.’s Fourth Album Delivers

— M.I.A, “Matangi” (Interscope)

Named after a ghetto Hindu goddess, M.I.A.’s fourth proper album pops with a relentless pounce and is filled with all the paradoxical imagery that the intro’s title “Karmageddon” conjures. On the call-to-arms title track she breaks it down as a tsunami of percussion mounts: “It’s so simple/Get to the floor.” Then sets it off simply by rhyming different places — “Gambia/Namibia/Bali/Mali/Chile/Malawi” — in her inimitable cadence.

But it’s never simple with M.I.A. because in her words she’s “Got a reputation/People see me as trouble.” She plays vocal acrobat on “Bring The Noize,” tabbing herself the “female Slick Rick” and unleashing spitfire bars like “Do you like my perfumes?/I made it at home with some gasoline and shrooms.” Her playful side rhymes “giddy up” with “light the city up” and boards Boeings eating bananas. On “atTENTion” she flips the syllable “tent” 50 different ways.

Production by Switch, Hit-Boy, Danja and The Partysquad is just as enigmatic. Take “Double Bubble Trouble” where a trap intro gives way to a Rastafari sway before hitting up the dancehall and riding out on a beat Omar Souleyman might floss over. On other tracks, The Weeknd samples, intermittent “ohmmms” and slinking woofers flit through stutter-step rhythms and furrowed bass. Picture fire alarms going off in Trinidadian clubs.

Songs like “Lights” and “Come Walk With Me” are nice encapsulations of the record’s split personality: part pop gold, part way out there. Even when M.I.A.’s feeling frisky it’s nowhere near a quiet storm. She’s either wondering “How come all this drama’s still trending?” or making “love like origami,” as guards set up outside.

At one point she mandates: “If you’re gonna be me you need a manifesto.” Based on the shrill stance here, hers might go something like this “Karmageddon line: “My words are my armor and you’re about to meet your karma.”
