Across the pond in London last night, Brits celebrated their TV stars with the BAFTA TV Awards, and the fashion, as you’d hope, was simply smashing (Briticism required). The best-dressed mix included actresses we’ve have grown to love, plus new names with style so sharp (not to mention a Game of Thrones actor or two), it might be time to start tuning in internationally. Take a look:
Sophie McShera, Downton Abbey‘s Daisy, still surprises when she’s in anything but a kitchen apron (and there have been so many seasons for us to get used to the phenomeon!). Last night, she picked an elegantly simple combo of floor-sweeping skirt and cropped top.
The other surprise glamour girl was Maisie Williams, who looked sweet and super feminine in a periwinkle lace pick by Self Portrait. Her Game of Thrones arc might have her out of the boyish togs, but it’s still doubtful that anything this divine is coming up for Arya.
British beauty Ophelia Lovibond has made her mark in U.S. television, appearing stateside in Elementary, and one could argue our style sense has rubbed off on her. Rather than go the prim English rose route, she picked a crop-top gown with a scaly-but-glam snake print.
The best angle of Brit TV presenter Donna Air’s peachy gown was from the side, where the shape of the sculpted hip panels was on full display. That construction wasn’t just for looks, either—the custom House of Fraser piece had LED lights on the sides and bodice that lit up.
The night’s award for chicest American in London certainly went to Dianna Agron, who did all-black with sheer sleeves that reached to her wrists. Her top is from Simone Rocha and the skirt is Comme des Garçons.
For further proof that it’s insane to see favorite TV characters IRL, please reference all of these Game of Thrones women.
