Dennis Basso Pre-Fall 2019

“This collection is about from the boardroom to the ballroom,” Dennis Basso began. “In this collection, I used men’s wear-inspired fabrics in a completely feminine way. Also, going from Indian Summer into pre-fall, because pre-fall isn’t really winter; I took a deep look into it while incorporating city to country.”
Basso’s ultrafeminine interpretation of men’s wear for women’s wear meant pinstriped dresses with lace trim, exaggerated houndstooth shapes came beaded — embroidered on a lime cocktail dress or graphic ballgown, as well as in sable on a lightweight organza jacket. Fur jackets were rendered for the lighter season in multiple bolero styles.
The collection leaned far more city than country, in a good way, and aside from men’s wear inspired, there was a stronger assortment of simpler, sportier garb. A color-blocked evening gown, a great pair of black leather trousers, a pink silk jumpsuit and trouser with brocade top, and a sheared mink and leather moto jacket. A sable and jersey zip-up jacket paired back with a sable miniskirt made for another great option for Basso’s younger clientele.

Mary J. Blige Helps Dennis Basso With Finale at His Runway Show, Talks ‘Body Cam’ and New Netflix Series

MARY J. GLADLY O-BLIGES: Nine-time Grammy winner Mary J. Blige is accustomed to performing in front of thousands, but walking the runway with Dennis Basso at his show Monday afternoon was a different kind of appearance.
“Of course, I was nervous. I’m not a runway model.” she said backstage after the show at Cipriani 42nd Street. “I was hoping that I would walk right and my train wouldn’t get caught on my shoes so I can do Dennis justice.”
The musician flew in from New Orleans where she is shooting the film “Body Cam,” to help the designer take his final bow. She also plays the lead in the designer’s latest ad campaign. Basso said, “I couldn’t feel better here with my good friend Mary. I feel exhilarated. It’s like a new everything for me. I’ve changed my collection. It’s not such a heavy hand. It’s lightweight, feathery and has just a little touch of beading here and there. It’s pure spring/summer.”
Wearing a slimming, white column gown, the musician said, “Style is however you want to express yourself. There’s no right way or wrong way to do it. It’s how you feel and what makes you feel good. When you are trying

Dennis Basso Reveals New Accessories Line

FUZZIES: Dennis Basso, furrier to the Upper East Side, is launching a new line of accessories.
To coincide with its 35th anniversary, the brand has released a capsule collection of handbags, clutches shoes and scarves. They are available for purchase at the label’s New York and Aspen stores, as well as at Harrods in London.
The Basso brand intends to wholesale the offering later this year.
Known for his fur outerwear, Basso extended that concept to accessories — even offering a mink backpack. Bags range from $ 2,500 to $ 18,000 while shoes run from $ 550 to $ 2,000.
Basso said of the launch: “For me, it was a natural extension of the collection to offer accessories. I think today, women want to see all of the possibilities when she is choosing her look and many women who have attended our runway shows over the years have been asking us to create special pieces like the ones we do for the show so it was a natural progression”
