Gucci’s president and chief executive officer and Farfetch’s founder and ceo will be saluted not only for their leadership and innovation, but also for their commitment to sustainability. Designers Turn Out for Paris Rwanda Benefit

FESTIVE SPIRIT: It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas as guests flowed into Yannick Alléno’s three-star restaurant, the Pavillon Ledoyen, on Thursday night Numéro editor in chief Babeth Djian’s annual dinner for Rwandan children, with proceeds going to Les Amis des Enfants du Monde (Friends of the Children of the World).
Designers including Olivier Rousteing, Alber Elbaz, Alexandre Vauthier, Jean Paul Gaultier and Christan Louboutin — who took Djian for a spin on the dance floor — got into the festive spirit.
Sparkle and black was the dress code with outfits ranging from Karidja Touré’s peak-shouldered silver and black jacket by Mugler to the matching, jewelry-loaded, black and gold Saint Laurent ensembles sported by rising rock star brother-sister duo Natalie and Elliot Bergman of Wild Belle who had been flown in by the house for the event. “I love bells,” deadpanned Elliot Bergman, whipping out his phone to share a photo of a set of bronze bells he has on display in a Paris gallery. The group is recording their third album, “a back-to-roots affair,” between Chicago and Los Angeles.

Tumi Holds Sale Event to Benefit Petra Nemcova’s Charity

Tumi will hold a 20 percent off event beginning Thursday until Sept. 24 to benefit Happy Hearts Fund, with 5 percent of all proceeds donated to the charity.
Happy Hearts was founded by philanthropist and model Petra Nemcova in 2006 for the purpose of rebuilding schools in areas impacted by natural disasters. She also is a survivor of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. Nemcova is Tumi’s brand ambassador.
The brand last year held a similar event, and raised nearly $ 286,000, which was earmarked for both the rebuilding of the Shree Mahendra Higher Secondary School and as a partial contribution for the rebuilding of the Shree Mahendra School, both in Nuwakot, Nepal.
Nemcova, who is in the city for New York Fashion Week, was keeping close tabs on the path of Hurricane Irma this past weekend. She and her family live in Miami, and Nemcova is also a member of All Hands Volunteers, a program partner with Happy Hearts, that had teams on standby — including Nemcova — for deployment with relief efforts.
“We are in the process of determining where we will go and help,” Nemcova said. Her charity has already provided some help to residents affected by Hurricane Harvey and she said the proceeds

Police Officer Dances with Children at Manchester Benefit Concert

As Ariana Grande took the stage in Manchester less than two weeks after a terrorist attack outside her concert killed 22 and injured over 100 people, fans in attendance bonded together.

A uniformed officer was taped skipping with children in a circle as others looked on during the concert.

“This is just amazing,” Elliot Wagland, Head of Pictures at the London Evening Standard, captioned the video on Twitter.

The mood at the concert was especially somber after a terrorist attack in London — which left seven dead and 48 injured after three men drove into a crowd and attacked with knives — occurred less than 24 hours ahead of the concert. Despite the attack and the severe threat level, Grande’s manager Scooter Braun and the Greater Manchester Police had stated that the show would go on as a message of resilience in the face of hatred.

Along with Grande, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Usher, Take That, Coldplay, Niall Horan, Robbie Williams, and Black Eyed Peas performed.

All proceeds from the concert, taking place at the Emirates Old Trafford stadium in the city, are going to the Red Cross’s Manchester Emergency Fund to help victims and families impacted by the attack. Those who were at the original gig were offered free tickets, and additional tickets sold out in just six minutes.

The show is expected to bring in around $ 2.6 million.

Ahead of the concert, Grande visited the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where many of he young fans are being treated.

Grande announced plans for the show in a special Twitter message just four days after the tragedy.

“Our response to this violence must be to come closer together, to help each other, to love more, to sing louder and to live more kindly and generously than we did before,” she wrote in the statement.

“I’ll be returning to the incredibly brave city of Manchester to spend some time with my fans and to have a benefit concert in honor of and to raise money for the victims and their families.”

The concert will aired live on Freeform at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. A one-hour highlight special will later air on ABC following the NBA Finals. BBC, the host broadcaster, is producing TV coverage.

Miley Cyrus Sings Moving Rendition Of ‘Inspired’ At Manchester Benefit Concert

Miley Cyrus performed a touching rendition of her new song “Inspired” at the One Love Manchester benefit concert Sunday, dedicating the song to everyone in the crowd and people around the world.

“I’d like to wrap my arms around each and every one of you and tell you thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” she told the crowd. “I am so honored to be at this incredible event surrounded by all you amazing people.”

She continued, “For me, the most important responsibility we have on this entire planet is to take care of one another, and look what we’re doing today and how amazing that is.”

Stars such as Robbie Williams, Niall Horan, Pharrell Williams, Take That, and, of course, Ariana Grande, whose concert was the target of the May attack, also performed at the benefit show. Proceeds from the concert will go to the Red Cross’ We Love Manchester emergency fund.

A terrorist detonated a suicide bomb at Manchester Arena last month, killing 22 others, including children, and injuring more than 100 people.

The show went on as about 160 miles to the south, Londoners reeled from a Saturday night terrorist attack that killed seven people and injured dozens more.

All-Female ‘Juno’ Cast Will Reunite For Live Read To Benefit Planned Parenthood

Crack open a liter of Sunny D and pick up your hamburger phone to call the “Juno” fan in your life because the film’s cast is reuniting to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a twist.

Director Jason Reitman is organizing a live read of the script featuring only the female members of the cast, including Ellen Page and Jennifer Garner, to raise funds for Planned Parenthood.

For years, Reitman staged Live Reads for a variety of classic scripts using some of his favorite actors to bring films like “The Princess Bride” and “Stand By Me” to life. After 40 live reads over five years, he bid farewell to the series in 2016.

However, in the wake of the last year’s presidential election, Reitman says he was inspired to put together an all-female performance of “Juno” to benefit and raise awareness for the women’s health organization.

One of President Donald Trump’s first executive orders signed since his inauguration in January targeted women’s reproductive health access worldwide by halting funding to international nongovernmental women’s health organizations if they provide abortions.

“Like many other people, I felt like I wanted to do something. I wanted to find a way to contribute to the causes that have never felt more important,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It occurred to me that I have this show that could be used as a tool to not only raise money for causes that need the help, but could serve as an opportunity for a group like Planned Parenthood to connect with an audience who can be presented with new ideas, or even an action item.”

“If there was any confusion about whether ‘Juno’ was pro-choice or pro-life, this should settle that,” Reitman added. “Juno had a choice, and that was the most important part.”

The one-night-only event will take place at the Ace Theater in Los Angeles on April 8. Tickets are already on sale, but the full cast won’t be announced until the final days leading up to the show.

Proceeds from ticket sales as well as “Juno” memorabilia, including signed original artwork and other goodies from the set, will all go to support Planned Parenthood.

“Considering how much this election has done against women and what Planned Parenthood has done for women,” Reitman said, “I thought it would be cool to hear this script with an all-female voice.”

Top Hollywood Talent Agency Cancels Annual Oscar Party to Benefit Refugees Instead

One of Hollywood’s top talent agencies is canceling its annual Oscar party and using the money it would have spent on the shindig to help refugees affected by President Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban.

United Talent Agency announced on Wednesday that the company would be swapping its annual party for a $ 250,000 donation to the American Civil Liberties Union — the group that challenged Trump’s travel ban and was granted a stay, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The company will also be donating part of the money to the International Rescue Committee, a humanitarian organization. UTA also announced plans to host a pro-immigration rally two days before the ceremony at its L.A. office.

“This is a moment that demands our generosity, awareness and restlessness,” UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer reportedly wrote in a memo to staff. “Our world is a better place for the free exchange of artists, ideas and creative expression. If our nation ceases to be the place where artists the world over can come to express themselves freely, then we cease, in my opinion, to be America.”

UTA reps some of the industry’s most high-profile stars, including Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Harrison Ford and Mariah Carey.

Trump’s executive order, signed Jan. 27, prevents citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S, and indefinitely bars Syrians from crossing the border. The ban has been halted by Homeland Security and several judges across the country, although the Trump administration continues to push for it to be reinstated.

“When fear and division get the better of a society, artists are among the first to feel the impact — and to denounce the ill winds,” Zimmer also reportedly said in his memo.

RELATED VIDEO: President Trump Assails ‘So-Called Judge’ Challenging Travel Ban

The news comes as several people have been prevented from making an appearance at the show due to the ban. Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category, already announced that he will not be attending the show even if an exception is made for him. Along with Farhadi, the Syrian subjects in the documentaries The White Helmet and Watani: My Homeland are also unsure if they will be allowed to travel to the U.S. for the awards show, although both teams are still working to find a way for them to attend.

The Academy Awards air live on ABC Feb. 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Benefit Cosmetics Launches Brow Services App in the U.K.

DIGITAL REWARDS: Benefit Cosmetics is launching Wow Brows, the first eyebrow loyalty app in the U.K. The smartphone app allows Benefit customers to book appointments and collect loyalty stamps on their phones, for every eyebrow treatment they buy at Benefit brow bars. The company has 162 locations across the U.K. and Ireland and is known for specializing in brow services and products.
Launched at the beginning of December, the digital brow accessory helps clients locate their local branch, book appointments and keep track of their rewards.
Michelle Stoodley, head of marketing at Benefit, said the initiative was a way for the company to continue offering rewards to engage its customer, while moving away from traditional loyalty cards.
“Utilizing a mobile app was the ideal solution, plus it’s a device we know our customers carry with them everywhere. We are combining the popularity of our brow services with an easy booking system to reward our customers,” Stoodley said.
Using in-store tablets, app users can scan personal QR codes found on the app, to collect their reward after each appointment. Every treatment earns customers one stamp, with rewards beginning on the second visit. Two stamps earns a complimentary brow tint, which costs 11.50 pounds, or $ 14,

Agnès b. Creates Postage Stamps to Benefit the French Red Cross

AGNÈS B. POSTS: As part of her company’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, French designer agnès b. has designed a handful of French postage stamps to benefit the French Red Cross. Inspired by the organization’s signature emblem, she has created a booklet of five that will sell for $ 5.87 in post offices across France and in agnès b. boutiques there as well. In response, La Poste will donate to the French Red Cross $ 2.17 (based on current exchange rates) for each packet sold. The designer’s stamps, which carry such sayings as “The Red Cross was made from love and courage” and “Together with the Red Cross” are available through August in post offices and agnès b. boutiques across France.
Agnès b.’s involvement was not in response to the Red Cross’ involvement in the European migrant crisis, a company spokesman said Monday.
Deciding on “simple, airy, and pure forms that are a little bit like a child’s drawings,” the Paris-based designer said she “tried to find something, which is a metaphor of my love for the Red Cross, by inspiring me of the actions in which I had the privilege to be associated with….There is at first a heart, which I created during the siege

Man Plants Endless Lanes Of Sunflowers To Honor Beloved Late Wife, Benefit Cancer Patients

This man’s love for his late wife has only blossomed.

Don Jaquish‘s beloved wife, Babette, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of cancer, back in 2006, according to ABC News. Sadly, she died late last year.

Babette was a huge fan of sunflowers, so Don honored her in the most fitting way possible — by planting a giant stretch of  sunflowers for her. They bloomed this month and Don plans to harvest and sell the seeds to help benefit cancer patients as part of his organization Babbette’s Seeds of Hope, ABC News reported.

“She got to be known as the sunflower lady of the community,” Don told ABC News of his wife. “So after she passed away, I thought it would be a tribute to her to plant 4.5 miles of sunflowers on each side of Highway 85.”

The “sunflower strip” covers the land of five different farms, KARE 11 reported. Don, who planted the flowers over a span of a week, was able to rent land from his neighbors at a reasonable price to complete the project.

He told ABC News that it was Babbette who originally came up with the idea of selling sunflower seeds and donating a portion of the proceeds to cancer research. About a month after his wife’s death, Don formed Babbette’s Seeds of Hope. Through the group, he’ll sell the seeds in bags, which will soon be available for purchase, with Babbette’s face on them along with her story printed on them. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to hospitals, research and patient advocacy, according to the company’s website.

It’s something the loving husband says would’ve made his wife proud.

“I think she would be smiling,” Don told ABC News. “We had an amazing response. We’ve had people all over the world send emails.”

While the sunflowers took a lot of time and effort to plant, Don says it was all worth it — especially for a woman whose spirit matched the beauty of the flowers.

“They fit her personality,” the widower told KARE11. “She’d walk into a room and her smile would light up a whole room.”

Months after her Babbette’s death, Don found a note from his wife stuck in a folder. In light of the sunflowers and their seeds, her words certainly ring true.

“You move on and live each day,” Babbette wrote, according to KARE11. “Feel me in the morning air, and when you wake up and make your coffee. I will be there always.”

Obamas Attend Christmas Benefit Concert For Children’s National Health System

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obamas got into the holiday spirit Sunday evening with a little help from Hugh Jackman, Sheryl Crow and Janelle Monae.

President Barack Obama and his family attended the 32nd annual “Christmas in Washington” concert, a benefit for the Children’s National Health System. After an evening of Christmas carols at the National Building Museum, the president said Americans should remember Jesus Christ’s lessons of charity and compassion.

“Through his example, he taught us that we should love the Lord, love our neighbors, as we love ourselves. It’s a teaching that has endured for generations. And today, it lies at the heart of my faith and that of millions of Americans, and billions around the globe,” Obama said.

“No matter who we are, or where we come from, or how we worship, it’s a message of hope and devotion that can unite all of us this holiday season,” he added.

Before the concert began, the president, his wife, Michelle, and daughters, Sasha and Malia, helped collect presents for patients at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington. Mrs. Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, watched from nearby.

The Obamas met five of the hospital’s young patients, who were dressed as elves.

“Hey, you guys, you going to help us?” Mrs. Obama asked.

“Good job, elves,” the president said. “Nice job.”

Jackman, who hosted the concert, also urged the audience to remember those less fortunate.

“It is the season of compassion. Let us not forget those who are down and out, who are suffering and who have little hope: the Washington Redskins fans,” Jackman said. “I can say it, I’m a Giants fan.”

The Redskins lost to the Atlanta Falcons earlier Sunday and fell to 3-11 for the season. The New York Giants also lost, though, getting shut out by the Seattle Seahawks as their record fell to 5-9.

Other performers at the concert included the Backstreet Boys, Anna Kendrick and Pat Monahan, the singer from the band Train. Retired NBA star Charles Barkley also was on hand to talk about programs at Children’s National.

The concert will be broadcast Friday evening on TNT.
