Blake Lively Roasts Ryan Reynolds Over Massive Truck Before Their 6th Anniversary: ‘Subtle’

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively kept their hilarious roast war going in the days leading up to their sixth anniversary on Sunday.

After Reynolds shared a photograph of an advertisement for his liquor company, Aviation Gin — which was plastered with a very large image of the actor enjoying the product — Lively stepped in on Friday to let her husband know what she thought about the “subtle” image.

“Who needs a mini van?! I’m driving this from now on,” she wrote in an interaction first noticed by the Instagram account Comments by Celebs.

The A Simple Plan star, 31, went on to extol the virtues of the vehicle, writing that it was “subtle” and “gorgeous,” before she exclaimed, “and OHMYGAWDYOUREHUGE.”

Of course, that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the married couple’s social media jokes!

Last month, while attending a party in honor of Aviation Gin, which the Deadpool 2 star, 41, acquired an ownership interest in earlier this year, Lively claimed that there was one very good reason she showed up to the event — and it had nothing to do with being a supportive wife.

“The look on our faces — when you all go to a party just for the free food…” Lively joked alongside a smiling selfie of herself at the event.

Earlier this summer, the actress also joked about missing out on dating her husband’s “hot” twin brother.

The roast session began after the actor shared a short clip of an interview with his fake twin brother Gordon on social media, writing, “Tomorrow is #WorldGinDay. My brother is an ass. Which is why you can’t have one without the other.”

Responding to the interview, Lively suggested that she had picked the wrong Reynolds brother to marry.

“S—. Your brother is hot. I’ve made a terrible mistake…” she wrote in a comment captured by Comments by Celebs.

Not to be outdone this time, Reynolds playfully responded, “You haven’t made a mistake. You’ve been living with him for over a year.”

The pair share daughters James, 3½, and Inez, 1½.

Rosie O’Donnell Drops Off 18-Year-Old Son Blake at College: ‘On We Go’

Rosie O’Donnell is saying bye to her son Blake Christopher as he goes off to college.

The comedian, 56, tweeted a selfie with Blake, 18, in what appears to be his new dorm room at Marist College in New York.

“Dropped off my boy,” The Fosters actress wrote. “Hard to believe.”

Blake is the third of O’Donnell’s adopted children with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter. The former couple’s other children include Parker Jaren, 23, daughter Chelsea Belle, 20, and Vivienne, 15, who was born via IVF. The actress also has an adopted girl, Dakota “Dax” with late ex-wife Michelle Rounds.

“Dax starts kindergarten in sept/ chelsea is 21 tomorrow/ parkers a marine/ vivi a sophomore/ blakes at college,” she replied to a fan’s tweet. “I am 56/ on we go.”

O’Donnell has been an advocate for adoption for same-sex couples in the United States since the 1990s, when she adopted Parker. Last June, O’Donnell told PEOPLE through her representative that she had reconnected with her estranged daughter Chelsea, who was pregnant. Rosie and Chelsea have not had the best relationship — in 2015, Chelsea ran away at 17 in 2015, saying that the former View host had kicked her out of the home, while O’Donnell said her daughter was mentally ill.

Chelsea told the Daily Mail that Rosie would not be a part of her child’s life.

“Rosie will not be in my child’s life,” she told the paper, adding, “and no, I do not feel sad about that to be honest.”

O’Donnell last played Rita Hendricks on the Freeform show The Fosters, which ended in June.

Kendall Jenner & Blake Griffin: Everything We Know About Their Super-Private Relationship

It’s been seven months since Kendall Jenner and Blake Griffin first stepped out together, but the A-list couple continues to keep their romance largely out of the spotlight.

“I like my private life,” Jenner, 22, told Vogue writer Jonathan Van Meter for the magazine’s April 2018 cover interview.

Still, she refused in the interview to confirm that she’s dating the Detroit Pistons power forward, who turned 29 on Friday. Neither commemorated the special day on social media, but that’s typical for the stars, who’ve long preferred a low-key relationship.

“I’m happy. He’s very nice,” she told Vogue. “I have someone being very nice to me.”

Here’s a look back at their relationship, from its beginning to the present.

Summer 2017

In early August, Jenner was spotted leaving the Travis Scott concert afterparty at Avenue nightclub in Los Angeles followed by Griffin. Earlier in the evening, Jenner and Griffin attended the Kendrick Lamar concert at the Staples Center, where Scott also performed. They were joined by Kris and Kylie Jenner as well as Memphis Grizzlies player Chandler Parsons and Jenner’s BFF Hailey Baldwin.

Weeks later, Jenner was spotted on a double date with Griffin, Baldwin and Parsons. The foursome enjoyed dinner at Craig’s in Los Angeles. After the meal, Jenner and Griffin and Parsons all hopped into the same car and left together. The following evening, they were spotted at Nobu with a group of friends, and the next night the two reunited again at Soho House in Malibu.

After stepping out with Griffin three nights in a row, a source told PEOPLE at the time that the two were having fun together, but it was still very casual.

“She’s seeing Blake romantically,” says the source. “It’s nothing serious. She has been in L.A. a lot lately, and is having fun.”

“Work will soon take over her life again, so who knows what will happen will Blake then,” added the source. “She is having fun right now and that’s all that matters to her. She takes her career very seriously and that’s her number one priority right now.”

Though the duo began spending time with each other, Jenner was still keeping her options open, including staying in touch with rapper A$ AP Rocky. “Kendall and Blake have been hanging out quite a bit and are having a good time,” a source told PEOPLE. “They met in passing a few times and hit it off.”

“She’s still talking to Rocky as well,” the source added. “But he isn’t the type to settle down or be a good boyfriend, so she’s playing the field too.”

Fall 2017

In mid-October, the pair stepped out with Kylie and Scott for a special double date at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood, an onlooker confirmed to PEOPLE. They were joined by Jordyn Woods, 20, and Baldwin.

“Kylie and Kendall were both extremely loving and cuddly with their boyfriends,” the onlooker said. “Both couples had their arms around each other, and the girls were really sweet with their guys. Travis and Kylie were especially cute and lovey-dovey. Kendall and Blake had a blast going through the mazes together.”

Days later, Jenner showed her public support for Griffin when she was spotted at the Los Angeles Staples Center where she watched him and the L.A. Clippers take on cross-city rivals, the L.A. Lakers. She was all smiles as she watched the game, appearing supportive as Griffin commanded the court with blocks, shots and one of his famous slam dunks. (The Clippers beat the Lakers 108-92.)

The following month, the NBA star joined Jenner’s family — including parents Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner and sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kim Kardashian West — at her birthday dinner at Petit Taqueria in Los Angeles.

“Kendall was in a great mood,” an onlooker told PEOPLE of the supermodel, who rocked $ 10,000 Saint Laurent boots at the bash, sponsored by Tequila Avión. “She and Blake hung out, but they also mingled separately.”

Another source added: “Kendall is very happy with Blake. They started out more like friends, and then it was very casual. But it seems more serious lately. When they are not together, they keep in touch over the phone. Her family has accepted Blake. They are spending time getting to know him.”

Following her 22nd birthday celebration, Jenner once again cheered on Griffin courtside in early November at the Staple Center in Los Angeles, where she rocked a baggy white turtleneck, distressed denim jeans and a pair of $ 10,000 Saint Laurent knee-high boots.

A week later, the cute couple was spotted grabbing a bite to eat at Sugarfish Sushi in Beverly Hills, and they were dressed in nearly identical outfits, according to The Daily MailJenner wore a black sweatshirt with black leggings and white sneakers, while Griffin opted for a black hoodie, black pants and white sneakers. Following their meal, the couple exited the restaurant to find what appeared to be a parking ticket on the windshield of the Range Rover they arrived in earlier.

At the end of November, the pair made their red carpet debut when they both attended the premiere of The 5th Quarter in Beverly Hills, California, each posing for photographers separately. She showed off some skin a mesh leotard — which she paired with ripped jeans, a beige blazer and peach-colored bra. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star accessorized her look with black boots and a gold cross necklace, wearing her hair back in a loose bun to show off her smiling face and natural-looking makeup.

Griffin, who wasn’t by her side (she threw her arm around CEO of OBB Pictures Michael Ratner), dressed down his fitted royal blue suit with a grey crewneck sweater and white sneakers.

By early December, Jenner was cozying up in Griffin’s jacket after she supported the Los Angeles Clippers power forward’s stand-up comedy show for his Team Griffin Foundation in Hollywood. She joined a crew of Griffin’s NBA friends for her boyfriend’s performance and went for a business casual look in a lightweight Tom Ford long sleeve turtleneck, Tom Ford check wide-leg trousers and slouchy Tom Ford over-the-knee boots.

Jenner seemed to get a little chilly by the time she slipped out of the venue with Griffin close behind and threw her boyfriend’s Ermenegildo Zegna coat (which has his name inscribed on the inside) over her shoulders. After posing for a few photos right before the show was set to start, Jenner took her seat with a group of basketball players to see Griffin take the stage. According to an onlooker at the event, “Kendall was enthusiastic throughout Griffin’s opening performance, but in the middle of a set by John Mulaney, she and several of the other basketball players went backstage.”

Winter 2018

Following the holiday season and New Year, “Blake and Kendall have been cooling off recently, but they’re not officially broken up,” a source told PEOPLE exclusively after Griffin was spotted out and about in Los Angeles over a weekend in January with a mystery woman.

“They were definitely giving off couple vibes,” an onlooker said of Griffin and the woman, with whom he was seen at Soho Malibu enjoying dinner and drinks with another couple. “At one point, she put her hand in his lap, where he held her hand there for about five to 10 minutes or so.”

Added the eyewitness, “It was so subtle. They seemed very low-key together, and their holding hands looked entirely natural. They looked like they were really comfortable with each other, and they were definitely not calling any attention to themselves and the little bit of PDA that they shared.”

Towards the end of January, Jenner returned to her courtside seats at the Staples Center, where she appeared to be in good spirits at the event — smiling and encouraging Griffin as his team took on the Boston Celtics.

Her appearance at the game came days before Griffin was traded to the Detroit Pistons — which may have taken a toll on their relationship.

On Valentine’s Day, Griffin was sued for palimony by his former girlfriend Brynn Cameron — and Jenner was named in the lawsuit.

In the documents obtained by The Blast, Cameron, 31, slammed Griffin — with whom she shares two young children: son Ford Wilson and daughter Finley Elaine — alleging he “had no problem” trading her, “his former fiancée and mother of his two children, for reality television star Kendall Jenner.” Cameron, a former basketball player at the University of Southern California, said Griffin “cared more about the glamour of dating a Hollywood celebrity than the day-to-day responsibilities of being a father and a family man,” according to the docs.

Despite the suit, a source told PEOPLE at the end of February that “they’ve definitely cooled off and are taking things at a slower pace, but not because of any particular drama.”

“He got traded and isn’t local anymore, so they’ve grown apart a bit just because of distance,” said the source. “They’re still involved.”

Blake Shelton Says Walking Into a Room with Girlfriend Gwen Stefani ‘Builds Your Ego Up’

It’s a round of Voice musical chairs!

Alicia Keys is leaving NBC’s hit singing competition show as a judge next season, and while Blake Shelton is sad to see her go, it sounds like the country star doesn’t believe it’s goodbye forever.

“I’ve looked ahead,” said Shelton during an interview with ET on Monday. “This is like those Harry Potter movies. Those characters that you think are gone, then they come back. Alicia … I’ve already looked ahead on the script, and they have her coming back.”

“Seeing as I’m his main competition, I’m sure he’s happy to see me go,” added Keys, 36. “So he doesn’t have to feel such a stress and pressure every time he works with me.”

Shelton also sounded off on his girlfriend Gwen Stefani exiting the show next season (Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus are taking a turn in the red chairs instead).

Just “being in the vicinity of her is unbelievable,” gushed Shelton, who had Stefani by his side Sunday night while he picked up the top country artist award at the Billboard Music Awards. “Oh my God, at some point, it kinda builds your ego up when you walk into a room with Gwen. But also it’s a crashing blow to your ego when you realize all the cheers and people shouting at ya. You realize it’s not you, it’s her! But it’s still exciting at the same time.”

Shelton jokingly confessed he’s relieved Cyrus and his pal Kelly Clarkson — who’s joining the show in 2018 — are on different seasons.

“I can tell you that I used to think Miley Cyrus would be the person that talks the most, ever in the history of this show,” he said. “Now that they brought in Kelly Clarkson … oh my God. Oh my God. Thank God they are at least on different seasons because my ears would fall off my head. There would be no oxygen left in the room. Neither one of them can stop talking.”

Blake Lively Goes Off On Reporter Who Asks About Her ‘Power Outfit’

Blake Lively was having none of the status-quo red carpet sexism while attending Variety’s Power of Women event Friday.

The actress, who is one of Variety’s honorees, was answering questions on the red carpet at New York City’s Cipriani when she was asked about her go-to “power outfit” by a female reporter, according to the New York Daily News.

“Come on, you want to talk about an outfit today?” she asked. “Come on, what about building women up? Outfits? Would you ask a man that? … You wouldn’t ask a man what a power outfit was. I’m sorry.”

A Twitter video from the moment shows Lively telling the reporter it’s time to learn ― and change.

Back in January, Lively joined the Women’s March in New York City to help be a face for the movement. She has been vocal about championing women’s rights, for herself, for her daughters and for complete strangers.

When it comes to raising her children, she is conscious about pushing back against Hollywood’s beauty standards

“We have really unrealistic beauty standards and beauty norms,” Lively told Refinery29 in February. “What you’re seeing on red carpets and in magazines takes a lot of effort and a lot of people. People don’t understand that it’s all very constructed. What little girls are seeing isn’t what [these celebrities] look like when they wake up in the morning — even though it’s no less beautiful.”

Gwen Stefani’s Sons Draw on Tattoos to Match Blake Shelton’s Regrettable Ink

Blake Shelton may regret his arm tattoo, but it seems to have a few mini admirers: girlfriend Gwen Stefani‘s three sons!

Kingston, 10, Zuma, 8, and Apollo, 3 — who Stefani shares with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale — got creative over the weekend, drawing on body art that matches Shelton’s deer tracks surrounded by barbed wire.

Stefani shared a photo of four arms donning the artwork on Twitter Saturday.

Shelton, 40, fully admits that his ink didn’t turn out as well as he hoped, more closely resembling Sugar Smacks than deer tracks.

“I can’t blame it on the tattoo guy, because I had been drinking on this occasion,” the country crooner said in a 2013 interview with Access Hollywood. “I drew him this deer track and he just went to the copier and made a copy and slapped it on there, and that’s what I drew.”

FROM COINAGE: 7 Most Expensive Music Videos

Six months later, he had barbed wire added to the arm band, although it didn’t improve the artwork much.

“To this moment, people still come up to me and say, ‘Man, ladybugs … that’s cool. What does that mean to you?’” Shelton said according to Mix 106.5. “I probably have the crappiest tattoo — not only in country music, but maybe the world.”

Stefani’s sons certainly seem to approve of their mom’s beau. The group spent time together at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch over the holidays, all participating in a dance party.

In one clip, Shelton, Stefani and her two older boys are joined by a couple of other participants to lip sync and jam along to “Don’t Wanna Know” by Maroon 5 featuring Kendrick Lamar, led by Kingston.

The final leg in the two-year journey of “Open This End: Contemporary Art from the Blake Byrne Collection” exhibition continues at the Ronna and Eric Hoffman Gallery of Contemporary Art, Lewis & Clark College, in Portland, Oregon. This amazing show’s travels began in 2015 at the Nasher Museum of Art, Duke University, which coincided with Blake’s 80th birthday celebration, and then toured to The Ohio State University Urban Arts Space and Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Art Gallery, Columbia University. “Open This End” assembles both iconic and lesser-known selected works from Byrne’s remarkable and distinguished collection, which features more than 1,200 pieces, narrowed down to about seventy-five for this exhibition.

This delightful presentation is a virtual window into a serious collector’s personal vision through an art historical context, highlighting some of the most influential artists of the last fifty years, carefully and skillfully tracing a number of intertwined narratives in the progression of contemporary art from the 1960s to the present. Organized over the last five years by Barbara Schwan, Executive Director of The Skylark Foundation, this is a simply remarkable exhibition on so many levels, and supporting her efforts to produce a scholarly and impressive hardcover catalog were Richard J. Powell, Kris Paulsen, Kimerly Rorschach and Bruce Kogut. The title comes from a small 1962 silkscreen painting by Andy Warhol, the earliest work in the show, which suggests an invitation for the viewer to explore this soon-to-be “unpacked” display, which, like a gift being unwrapped, always brings with it an element of surprise, anticipation and delight.

Installation, “Open This End: Contemporary Art from the Blake Byrne Collection,” Ronna and Eric Hoffman Gallery of Contemporary Art, Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon.

Joseph Wolin, the curator of the exhibition elaborates: “By extension it also suggests that contemporary art may comprise a sometimes puzzling package that we can unlock for both pleasure and edification. In a more humorous vein, the title implies that there exists a certain way to approach contemporary art and its history, a particular end from which to open the box (in this case, a crate!), an implication belied by contemporary art itself, and by the multiple, parallel, interconnected, open-ended, and at times contradictory artistic and historical threads the exhibition gathers together.” For any number of reasons, the title seems to fit rather cleverly and appropriately, but the irony is that from the get-go Byrne was not interested in building a collection to impress others with brand names like Warhol, but rather with very little guidance early on, used his intuition to seek out works that would provoke an emotional response, regardless of how obscure the artist was initially, it obviously was a chance that Byrne felt worth taking. I’m reminded of Evel Knievel’s own fifteen minutes of Warholian fame, which came with a personal observation just after one of his well-known and dangerous motorcycle jumps: “No risk, no reward.”

In fact, risk is related to reward and achievement for most of the artists represented in this memorable exhibition, especially for Warhol, as it is for most great private collections of contemporary art. This is an era when some noted art collectors around the planet have built huge museums for their own collections, including François Pinault in Paris, Jorge Pérez in Miami, Eli and Edythe Broad in Los Angeles, Dutchman Joop van Caldenborgh and Budi Tek in China, among others. Blake Byrne’s goal was not to construct an art fortress to protect his artworks, but to choose to live with his most treasured pieces, rarely “de-acquisitioning” any of them, and eventually passing on portions to other institutions. Byrne graciously does this from time to time; his promised gift to MOCA LA of 123 works, for example, remains the largest and most generous donation in the museum’s history, in fact, over half of the works included in “Open This End” are from the promised gifts to MOCA LA, as well as a good selection that has been promised to Duke University’s Nasher Museum.

The story of Blake Byrne is unique, and is encouraging news for young collectors that have an interest in contemporary art, but at first have little background in art appreciation and a sense of where to begin. Byrne first started accumulating modest pictures during his honeymoon in Paris, and after several moves in between, he landed in Providence, a significant art city and home to thousands of artists as well as the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), one of the world’s best art schools, and then to Fort Worth, where he and his family regularly visited the Kimbell Art Museum and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art for inspiration. He eventually moved back to Manhattan in 1988, taking up residence at 58th Street and 7th Avenue, so naturally he would visit the 57th Street art galleries in his neighborhood, which strengthened his perspectives on art.

I first met Blake and his family on the day they moved into the Victorian house next door to mine on the historic east side of Providence, Rhode Island. He was in the business of managing TV stations, and his magic touch made them profitable. He also had all the makings of a great collector: inquisitive, instinctual, studious, intelligent, adventuresome, open-minded, enthusiastic, an astute eye and a warm heart, along with a willingness and the resources to invest in works of art with which he also wanted to enjoy living. As our friendship developed, I introduced him to the campus of RISD, and as I recall, he began acquiring a few works here and there of local artists, such as Bill Drew and several very early works of mine. Mr. Byrne was a proud workaholic, and was especially adept at analyzing TV station data reports every evening when he finally arrived home. Surely it was this experience and training that later he applied to buying art, after he retired as a broadcast executive and began collecting in earnest in 1988. On the advice of Jack Tilton, his long-time friend and mentor and highly respected Manhattan gallerist, Byrne went to Art Basel with Tilton in 1988 and made his first cutting-edge art purchases, including works by Juan Muñoz, Cristina Iglesias and Richard Tuttle, among others. Not bad for the first date! And, fortuitously, he started collecting Marlene Dumas at bargain prices the following year, a wise decision, as her works have since shot up greatly in value. From this jumping off point, he assembled an impressive collection that is both expansive and focused, maintaining strong commitments to certain artists that he has accumulated en masse.

“Open This End” does not try to track a single theme or storyline, but takes advantage of the significant strengths of Byrne’s collection that offers a unique and personal overview of contemporary art. With the size, breadth and complexity of this memorable show, it’s not possible here to examine select works in detail, but suffice it to say that the following alphabetical sampling of “Open This End’s” line-up will give you a clear perspective on what constitutes a wonderfully revealing and dramatic presentation: Vito Acconci, John Baldessari, Mark Bradford, Marlene Dumas (11 works), Robert Gober, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Douglas Gordon, David Hammons, Bruce Helander, Thomas Houseago, Mike Kelley, Martin Kersels, Martin Kippenberger, Louise Lawler, Sherrie Levine, Glenn Ligon, Agnes Martin, Rita McBride, Paul McCarthy, Steve McQueen, Matthew Monahan, Juan Muñoz, Wangechi Mutu, Bruce Nauman, Albert Oehlen, Paul Pfeiffer, Jack Pierson, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Ed Ruscha, Cindy Sherman, Tony Smith, Jennifer Steinkamp, Luc Tuymans, Andy Warhol, Kehinde Wiley and Christopher Williams. It should be noted that this list signifies only about 10% of Byrne’s entire collection, which continues to grow. As a whole, this distinguished assortment of human creativity provides an astute summary of most of the important trends in contemporary art since the 1960s. Kimerly Rorschach proposes a striking summation in her insightful catalog essay, “Blakean Vision,” which is appropriate to repeat here: “Through collecting, the collector can engage with and consider the great issues: love and loss, birth and death, the fate of our planet, our identity and culture, both collective and individual–in short, our humanity.”

Happy Birthday Blake Byrne!

Blake Lively: Dress Thief?

It’s true, y’all. Blake Lively has admitted to a case of sticky fingers when it comes to her working environment. “I like to take at least one dress from each of my character’s wardrobes as a memento of my time playing them,” she told British Vogue. She left Gossip Girl with even more, bringing a painting from Serena van der Woodsen‘s bedroom into her now office.

This recent John Galliano look, from the whirlwind week where she wore 18 different outfits, probably isn’t from Serena’s closet, but it totally has the same boho-uptown vibe, no? Meanwhile, the sparkly skirt and tank combo below from a few years ago? It totally has GG written all over it.

Artwork aside, Lively just said she found the show to be “personally compromising.” Explain, B.

Is Blake Lively Becoming a Designer?

It seems that beyond inspiring a whole lot of sexy-chic outfits, Blake Lively‘s pregnancy also got her thinking about the next professional skill she’d like to add to her CV. Sources are suggesting that the actress might introduce a range of children’s clothing and products to her e-commerce website, Preserve.

Products would include clothing, diapers, and bath and body products, designed by Blake and called Preserve Baby, an unnamed source told OK! magazine. Price tags won’t be low either, with the same source saying “she wants to start by catering to high-end clients—women like her.”

There’s currently a small children’s section on the site, though it’s not hard to imagine Blake would want to blow it out with more offerings once she gets into mommy mode at home. Until her designs hit, you can shop cheeky pieces like this bunny coat.

That Time Blake Griffin Attended A ‘White Party’ At Donald Sterling’s House

Clippers star Blake Griffin told an anecdote about going to an exclusively white function hosted by disgraced ex-Clippers owner Donald Sterling — and it got the intended laughs.

That’s because Griffin was talking about a “white party” in which Sterling asked everyone to dress in white. Sterling, meanwhile, dressed in black.

“It’s ironic,” Griffin declared on “Conan” Monday. “You guys get it, right?”

Until last April, when a tape of Sterling making racist comments about black people was released, Griffin’s story might not have gone anywhere. But now that Sterling has been banned from the NBA because of the bigoted remarks, Griffin’s account of the 2009 party he attended as a freshly drafted rookie resonates.

The player recalled Sterling holding his hand as he guided him around a room in his Malibu home, asking his prized prospect the same questions over and over in front of different guests. “Just keep smiling,” Griffin remembers being told by another guest. “It will all be over soon.”

For more details about Griffin’s odd encounter with his new boss at the time, check out his essay at The Players’ Tribune.

Why Everybody Hates Blake Lively’s New Website

Blake Lively’s new lifestyle website, Preserve, has been mercilessly mocked with fiendish, snarky glee since it debuted last Monday. And honestly, it’s hard not to get behind the haters. The site — with its skinny-girls-only ethos (one skirt Lively peddles comes in extra-small only), painfully over-the-top writing (“At once structured and chaotic, the great American BBQ is, indubitably, a rollicking repast”) and ridiculously overpriced products ($ 18 jar of pickles, $ 400 travel bag) — is an exercise in A-list pretension nearly as obnoxious as Gwynnie’s notorious Goop.

Putting cynicism aside (for a brief moment), Lively does devote a whole section of Preserve to her philanthropic cause, The Covenant House, an organization fighting trafficking, youth abuse and homelessness. Splurge on, say, a wooden cutting board — just $ 55! — and a percentage will be donated to the cause. So there’s that.

Still, there’s something about the enterprise that makes us non-extra-small-wearing, not-filthy-rich peons cringe. Lively isn’t the only one causing annoyance — Gwyneth Paltrow and now Reese Witherspoon are also pitching themselves as the lifestyle gurus we never knew we needed. On some level, this makes sense. After all, we do idolize celebrities and trust them as arbiters of all things amazing. Hence, we flip through the pages of People to coo over their red carpet fashion, and tremble at the idea of (gasp!) meeting them in person.

But there’s an implicit arrangement that sustains this dysfunctional relationship: We can treat celebrities like demi-gods, but they can’t tell us they’re demi-gods. Perhaps it’s tied up in self-loathing; on some level, we hate ourselves for coveting the lives of people we don’t even know, so this precarious dynamic only works if said stars allow us to preserve some modicum of self-respect, i.e. the adoration has to be on our terms. The moment they openly admit they’re superior to us — and ask us to pay homage by supporting their lifestyle — the power imbalance becomes too explicit.

Psychologically speaking, envy is dangerously connected to low self-esteem; knocking those we envy down is a mechanism to protect ourselves from debilitating feelings of comparative inadequacy. Clinical Psychologist Mary C. Lamia, Psychology Today:

Fearing any eruption of inadequacy or disappointment in your self can motivate you to protect yourself by diminishing the importance of the envied other by devaluing them. You are engaged in devaluing when you have belittling thoughts about another person, such as petty criticisms.

Hence, we are quick to bash Lively and her highfalutin site, which seems designed solely to “preserve” her envied image as a gorgeous, rich, charming star with a Sexiest Man Alive husband and a fabulous manse in the countryside. Then again, damn she’s beautiful, rich and charming.

I’d be lying if I said I won’t be back to her site soon.

This Is Miranda Lambert And Blake Shelton’s Definition Of ‘Us’ Time

It’s not easy for country superstars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton to find alone time between their nonstop careers and hectic touring schedules.

“We gotta schedule it in,” Lambert told HuffPost Live’s Ricky Camilleri when she sat down with him on Thursday.

So how does the country-singing couple unwind in their downtime? In pretty much the most country way possible:

“We backroad — we take our cooler, we take our dogs, we ride four-wheelers and we just sit on the porch. We started fishing because it’s spring now,” Lambert said.

“That’s why we live where we live [in Oklahoma],” she added. “Because it’s absolutely opposite of our crazy life on the road.”

You can watch the full conversation with Lambert here.
