Carrie Underwood Shares Close-Up Video of Face as She Jokes About Husband’s ‘Annoying’ Behavior

Carrie Underwood didn’t shy away from the cameras as she shared a video playfully documenting her husband’s “annoying” behavior on Saturday.

While driving in the car with her husband Mike Fisher, Underwood took a close-up video of her face — which is still healing from a scary accident in November that left her needing over 40 stitches — on her Instagram Story.

In the video, the 35-year-old singer looked directly at the camera and softly said, “Help me,” while her husband appeared to be making a squeaking noise over and over into his hands while driving.

“Must we? So annoying,” she wrote alongside the video.

Opening up about her frightening fall for the first time last week, the American Idol winner revealed her accident happened when she was taking her dogs out for a quick walk.

“I was taking the dogs out to go pee one last time, and I just — I tripped,” she said on iHeartRadio’s The Bobby Bones Show. “There was one step, and I didn’t let go of the leashes! Priorities! So that’s why my left hand’s fine. But I went to catch myself and I just missed a step.”

“If I had fallen anywhere else, I would have been perfectly fine. But it was one step that messed everything up,” she added.

The country star previously showed off her scars, which are located around her upper lip and chin, while supporting Fisher and his hockey team, the Nashville Predators, on April 21.

“Ready to cheer on the boys tonight! Especially that #12! I hear he’s alright! 😘 @mfisher1212 @predsnhl#LetsGoPreds,” Underwood captioned the snap.

A source close to Underwood previously told PEOPLE the singer — whose sixth studio album Cry Pretty drops Sept. 14 — looks “gorgeous in person.”

Carrie Underwood’s Husband Wishes Her a Happy Birthday — and Teases Her for Throwback Hairstyle

Mike Fisher came up with a very unique way of celebrating his wife Carrie Underwood’s birthday this year.

Sharing an image on social media of the 35-year-old rocking a very teased and curly ‘do, Fisher gently teased his wife about the throwback photo.

“Happy birthday to an incredible wife and an amazing mom with killer hair :)” he wrote.

“All kidding aside you’re a blessing to Izzy and I everyday,” he added. “Love you @carrieunderwood.”

The pair are parents to son Isaiah Michael, who turned 3 in February.

But Underwood didn’t seem to mind her husband’s playful joke, commenting on the photo, “You just can’t let some things go, can ya?”

“Hey, you marry a girl from the South, you get a lifetime subscription to Elnett…mmmkay?” she added, referencing a type of hairspray from L’Oreal.

This silly birthday messages comes a few weeks after the county superstar and the former hockey player, 37, were hit with split rumors.

Addressing the speculation on his Instagram account, Fisher assured a fan who wrote that she was “praying for you and Carrie” that the pair’s relationship was stronger than ever.

“We’ve never been better. Thanks,” he wrote.

Though their relationship is going strong, Underwood and Fisher — who wed in 2010— have indeed had a trying few months.

The “Blown Away” singer has been staying under the radar since she had a “hard fall” on the steps outside their home in November 2017 , leaving her with a broken wrist and around 50 stitches to her face.

The American Idol alum has been keeping her fans posted on her progress, however, and Fisher has been by his wife’s side during her recovery.

Story Time with Daddy: Carrie Underwood Shares Video of Husband Mike Fisher Reading to Their Son

It doesn’t get any cuter than story time with daddy!

On Saturday, Carrie Underwood shared a sweet video of husband Mike Fisher reading aloud to their 2½-year-old son Isaiah Michael from a colorful, biblical storybook.

And as Isaiah learned all about Noah and his arc, he also showed that he’s pretty knowledgable about animals as he correctly identified all of the species in the picture book.

“Story time with Daddy…Learning about Noah…and my heart melts❤❤❤ ,” Underwood captioned the precious moment.

Underwood recently broke her wrist after falling on the steps outside her home just a few days after hosting the CMA Awards in November — and in January, she revealed that the incident also caused severe cuts to her face.

In a post to her fan club members, the country singer said that in addition to having surgery on her wrist, she required “40 and 50 stitches” to her face.

“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” she wrote in the note obtained by PEOPLE. “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.”

For more coverage, follow our babies magazine on Flipboard.

She continued: “In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”

While she’s still on the road to recovery, seven weeks after the accident she revealed she’s still “not quite looking the same,” and still has yet to share a clear photo of her face (though a fan-shared image made the rounds on the internet since).

“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful,” she wrote. “I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way.”

Being that she didn’t finish off the year quite as planned, the country superstar is ready to make 2018 one for the books.

“I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way,” she concluded. “And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.”

Carrie Underwood Reveals She Needed Over 40 Stitches in Her Face After November Fall

Carrie Underwood is still healing from injuries she suffered after falling on the steps of her house in November.

Underwood, 34, previously said that she had broken her wrist after falling outside of her home, and on Sunday she revealed that the incident also caused severe cuts to her face.

In a post to her fan club members, the country singer said that in addition to having surgery on her wrist, she required “40 and 50 stitches” to her face.

“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” she wrote, according to Entertainment Tonight and Taste of Country. “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.”

She continued: “In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”

The accident left Underwood unable to perform at the Country Rising benefit show held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena soon after.

Seven weeks after the accident, Underwood said that she’s on the mend but “not quite looking the same.”

“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful,” she wrote. “I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way.”

But with a new year underway, Underwood is optimistic for what her future holds.

SPECIAL DISCOUNT UPDATE:

Carrie Fisher’s Death Should Be A Wakeup Call To People With Sleep Apnea

Carrie Fisher died from sleep apnea among other health issues, according to a recent statement from the Los Angeles coroner’s office. The “Star Wars” actress also had traces of several drugs, including cocaine, in her system.

Though her drug use has grabbed headlines, the coroner’s report is focused on the role of the common sleep disorder, which affects more than 18 million Americans.

Obstructive sleep apnea, the clinical term, is a health condition that causes breathing to be interrupted during sleep and can disrupt rest throughout the night. The most common sign of the condition is chronic snoring.

Sleep apnea is serious: It raises the risk of dying early by 46 percent, according to a 2009 study. Sleep apnea also increases the chances of sudden cardiac death, a condition that kills approximately 450,000 Americans every year.

Primary care doctors typically don’t inquire about sleep apnea during regular checkups, according to Dr. Douglas Kirsch, medical director at the Carolinas HealthCare Sleep Medicine and president-elect of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. But it’s certainly something that shouldn’t be ignored.

“While it’s generally considered a chronic medical condition that people have for many years, there are some night-to-night risks for a major medical problem,” Kirsch told HuffPost.

How sleep apnea can hurt your heart

The condition on its own can lead to severe health complications. Sleep apnea can cause hypertension, heart conditions and mental health issues like depression. It’s undetermined whether or not Fisher, who died late last year at the age of 60, was getting medical help for the issue.

The disorder occurs when a person’s airway becomes obstructed. This could happen for a number of reasons, including structural issues like oversized tonsils or an issue where the tongue and throat muscles relax and block the windpipe. Being overweight can also increase a person’s risk for developing the disorder.

A blocked airway is essentially what leads to the disrupted breathing that occurs with the condition. When breathing is delayed, it causes oxygen levels in the blood to decrease. This drop essentially puts pressure on the cardiovascular system, which makes the heart work harder in order to keep everything in check.

This process is what ultimately contributes to a higher risk of high blood pressure and heart issues for people with sleep apnea, according to the American Sleep Association. The condition can also lead to irregular heartbeats.

If left untreated, sleep apnea puts a person at greater risk for heart attack and stroke.

The deadly relationship between drug use and sleep disorders

It’s important to note that the coroner listed the cause of her death as “undetermined” and there’s no proven link between the drug use and sleep apnea in the case of Fisher’s death. But experts say substances like alcohol and medications can make the condition worse.

Research has also found that sleep disturbances and addiction may be linked. Those with substance use disorders may be more likely to develop sleep disorders, according to a small 2009 study. Separate research has found a link between chronic opioid use and sleep apnea, indicating the use of those substances may induce disordered breathing while asleep.

What to do if you suspect you have the condition

Because the common symptom of sleep apnea ― snoring ― can also be a harmless sleep problem, many people don’t often think to get checked for the issue. Aside from snoring, Kirsch recommends looking out for daytime sleepiness or waking up in the middle of the night as indicators that you might have the condition. Morning headaches can also be a sign.

Fortunately, there are ways to fix sleep apnea. Some doctors may recommend doing a sleep study, where physicians will examine factors like your heart rate, airflow and blood oxygen levels while you rest to determine whether or not the condition is present. Medical professionals may also determine if you need a continuous positive airway pressure device (more commonly known as a CPAP), which is a mask that helps keep the airway open during sleep.

Some other methods in managing sleep apnea include possible dental procedures or a surgical procedure to fix the issue that may be causing a blocked airway. Lifestyle changes like weight management through diet and exercise and cutting back on alcohol can also help control the disorder’s severity.

“Patients will delay testing because they are worried about the treatment options for [sleep apnea],” Kirsch said. “That’s like not getting your blood pressure checked because you are worried about treating high blood pressure, it doesn’t make sense … I have many, many patients, who after starting treatment, bemoan the fact that they had delayed for so long because they feel so much better. “

As with all medical issues, the best course of action is to start by talking to your doctor.

“If you have a concern about your sleep, speak to your primary care physician about it, and if they are unable to help, seek help from a board-certified sleep physician,” Kirsch stressed.

Carrie Underwood Is Officially the Biggest Nashville Predators Fan: All the Ways She’s Supported Her Husband’s Team So Far

The Nashville Predators are hanging on to their Stanley Cup hopes tonight, facing off against the Pittsburgh Penguins in game six in Music City at 8 p.m. ET.

One person who will most certainly be there, Instagramming the whole thing? Carrie Underwood. The country star — whose husband Mike Fisher is the team captain — has been very vocally supporting her team ever since the guys started their playoff run on April 13. Here, a look back at her best moments in navy and gold.

For game 1 of the western conference first round, Underwood showed her mani/pedi pride

Days later, it was all about the hat

And she Instagrammed all the craziness from inside the Bridgestone Arena during game 3

By their May 3 game against the St. Louis Blues, the Preds were “on fire,” she wrote

She kept her tee on for a May 7 performance with Luke Bryan, too

Her son Isaiah, 2, joined in the fun for the Preds’ May 7 win against the Blues

Good luck? On May 16, her song “The Fighter” was played during a game against the Anaheim Ducks

Another game, another great hat

Similarly another game, another great mani

The super-supportive wife was “Ready” for the Preds’ May 22 game against the Ducks, which her team won, sending Nashville to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time ever

It helps to have support!

And she was elated to watch the guys accept the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl

When traveling, Underwood is sure to bring one essential: that ‘Smash’ hat

Her destination: Pittsburgh, for game one of the Stanley Cup Final

Her June 3 regram had pretty much the sweetest caption ever: “I love this man more than words can express. I am beyond proud of him…he is an amazing man of God. He loves his family, his friends and his job. He deserves nothing but he best in this world, because he gives nothing but his best to it! I am amazed every single day at the kind of human he is! I love you, baby! #ProudWife #Blessed #MikeFisher #GoPreds #StanleyCup”

She got that roar down

Back in Nashville on June 4, Carrie & co. were pumped for the Preds win

An important milestone amid the craziness of the Cup: Fisher’s 37th birthday! Underwood marked the June 5 occasion with another sweet Insta post, writing, “Happy birthday to this handsome hunk! I’ll never forget the day he told me he was asked to wear the “C.” I was so proud on that day and I’m even more proud now to see him play in the #StanleyCupFinals He’s definitely the only FISH in the “C” for me!”

Yes, it was just days before the CMT Music Awards, but she was happy to be out celebrating

With her sisters-in-law and mother-in-law at the last game in Nashville

We can’t wait to see how crazy Carrie goes tonight! Catch the game on NBC.

Carrie Underwood Surprises Fans With National Anthem At Husband’s Game

On top of being a country superstar and an adoring mother, Carrie Underwood is one seriously supportive wife.

On Monday, Underwood ― who’s married to Nashville Predators captain Mike Fisher ― surprised hockey fans with a beautiful rendition of the national anthem before game three of the NHL playoffs when Fisher’s team played the Chicago Blackhawks at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

For the powerhouse performance (watch a video above), the seven-time Grammy winner sported her husband’s No. 12 jersey and painted her nails to match the team’s blue and gold colors.

Underwood may have been a good luck charm for Fisher because the Predators won the game 3 to 2.

The couple tied the knot in July 2010 and welcomed a baby boy named Isaiah in February 2015.

“Time sure does fly when you’re having fun and you marry up,” Fisher wrote to his wife in an anniversary Instagram post in July 2016. “I’m very grateful to have an amazing wife and mother by my side!”

Underwood shared a similar sentiment, writing, “Six years ago today, I said ‘I do,’ to this handsome fella. I meant it then and I mean it now. God put us together and continues to bless our marriage. I couldn’t imagine this life without you.”

Below, more photos of the sweet couple.

Carrie Fisher Will Somehow Still Star In ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

Just late last March, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Carrie Fisher’s scenes in the next “Star Wars” will remain unchanged, despite her recent death at the end of 2016.

“She’s in [Episode] VIII, and we’re not changing VIII to deal with her passing,” said Iger of the upcoming “The Last Jedi” movie. “Her performance, which we’ve been really pleased with, remains as it was.”

But now her brother, Todd Fisher, is claiming that his sister’s memorable character, Leia Organa, will also be appearing in “Episode IX.” Directors had originally planned to feature Carrie in the movie before her death on Dec. 27, 2016.

Fisher explained to New York Daily News that along with Carrie’s daughter, Billie Lourd, he has granted Disney permission to use recent footage of Carrie in the future movie. A CGI recreation of the actress presumably still wouldn’t be involved as previously announced.

“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don’t,” said Fisher at the opening night gala of the TCM Film Festival in Los Angeles.

“She’s as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful,” Fisher also said. “I feel like that’s what’s happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue.”

Fisher didn’t know how Disney would incorporate Leia into the script, but it seems as if unused footage from “The Last Jedi” and “The Force Awakens” would be repurposed.

In any case, Fisher believes Disney and the filmmakers will “do great things.”

According to Disney’s schedule, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will be released Dec. 15 and the still untitled “Episode IX” is slated for 2019.

Fred Armisen And Carrie Brownstein Make A Case For The ‘Portlandia’ Bubble In Trump’s America

In 2011, just midway into President Barack Obama’s first term in office, IFC’s “Portlandia” debuted with an ode to the liberal bubble of Portland, Oregon.

“The dream of the ‘90s is alive in Portland,” sang the show’s stars, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, along with other young, flannel-wearing people.

The song celebrated Portland’s insular and nostalgia-prone weirdness. But ever since President Donald Trump’s unexpected election last November, people around the country have been re-examining liberal bubbles and the potential downsides that can come with living in them.

On Thursday night, one of the final episodes of Season 7, the show’s penultimate season, will debut on IFC.  Although Fred and Carrie created this storyline for the episode, entitled “Portland Secedes,” before the election of Trump, it’s hard to separate the episode (or the entire season for that matter) from the pervading existence of Trump’s America.

As such, The Huffington Post spoke to Fred and Carrie about how the rise of Trump affected their writers’ room, how his presidency puts a new viewing lens on “Portlandia,” and whether Americans should keep their cultural bubbles.

The Q&A below has been edited and condensed for clarity.

How the rise of Trump impacted the writers’ room

The creators have said that for past seasons, Portland residents’ high level of “optimism” led to many sketch ideas. Despite not knowing the results of the election around the time you were developing Season 7, Trump’s rise was already still apparent. Did his campaign alter your approach to the characters?

Fred: Well, I mean, in the writers’ room, it came up a lot. But I think we try to avoid anything that’s too directly topical so that it has some shelf life. I think it has less to do with politics specific to an election as opposed to the politics that are happening in general. Like, whatever the general feeling is that year around that time. Because we don’t have the luxury of having, like, a live show, it’s a little less specific.

The value of protecting values

The “Portland Secedes” episode imagines Portland attempting to leave the United States to maintain its unique weirdness. A spoiler that’s necessary for context: They don’t succeed.

In light of the election results, it’s hard to not see the sketch as something of a parody of Trump’s America. Even so, it’s unclear whether the focus is Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, or whether you are going for a joke similar to a recent “Saturday Night Live” sketch, which imagined putting a dome on Brooklyn to preserve its bubble. Either way, was there actually an attempt at a political lens here?

Carrie: I do think the political climate permeated the writers’ room ― that echo chamber and that sense that things were quite partisan and everyone had kind of sorted themselves into categories ― culturally or by neighborhood or by city. And I think we’ve always been a show that is about one’s relationship to place.

So, it made sense that these characters in our world would be interested in kind of protecting things that they had built and value. I think on the entire political spectrum, everybody feels they’re sort of trying to protect their values. And I guess that’s just what these people are doing in a kind of comical and absurd way.

The opening scene of “Portland Secedes”

The case for keeping bubbles

In a 2015 interview with Good before the rise of Trump, Carrie said, “I think that you do have to create a bubble. And I think that anything that’s really been powerful starts with people ignoring the consensus and just focusing.”

A post-election hypothesis has been that Trump’s win came as a result of liberals living in a bubble that keeps “real America” hidden from them. But is there still any value to living in a bubble?

Fred: Well, as far as value goes, obviously it’s nicer to be in an environment where you feel comfortable. But it’s also clear that it’s probably not the most realistic thing. Also, on the other hand, I don’t know how we can avoid it. I mean, I suppose you can try to educate yourself, but just geographically, I think people are just drawn to a sort of kind of place and it just ends up being that way.

I think it’s unavoidable, but we have been able to sort of curate our surroundings. Even online so that you’re kind of giving yourself a lot of confidence in the way that you are.

Putting out Season 7 after Trump’s victory

After the election, audiences have put a political lens on work that was created before Trump’s win. Notably, the new A Tribe Called Quest album and “The Young Pope” both have been considered resonant and responsive works to Trump’s America, even though that couldn’t have been their original intent. How does it feel to have such a lens focused on Season 7?

Carrie: Yeah, I think that’s an inevitability. You know there’s almost a level of toxicity that we’re immersed in, and I think people are realizing it was almost a privilege in some ways during the Obama administration to be able to tune out politics every once in awhile. Or to be able to kind of exist in a space that didn’t feel violent or aggressive or confusing. But I think it’s important to remember there’s always been vulnerable and marginalized populations who have felt attacked and disenfranchised under any administration, just based on institutional disparities.

But I do think that it’s just the new lens that we examine all music and television and literature. I think everyone is searching for meaning and explanation and a way of making sense of some of the …. just the confusion. So, you can’t necessarily start out with the intention of making things clear for people. But I think the best kind of ― and most lasting ― artistic statements feel relevant when they’re happening, but also feel relevant in retrospect.

In some ways that’s been our goal always. It’s just that, the fact that people can watch the show now and still feel it was in this world ― not incongruous with this current administration ― is what we always set out to do. To feel part of something and part of something that will last.

How the election will continue to affect the show’s characters

Recently, Carrie performed at the Women’s March and told Vanity Fair that she feels there is a “a feeling of collective despair, uncertainty, and anxiety right now.” Even if the show doesn’t take aim at specific political moments, if there is a collective despair, would that inevitably bleed into the characters’ lives for Season 8, the final season?

Fred: It’s hard to tell, but [I have] a memory of the writers’ room and just feeling like, we had optimism then because we didn’t know what the result of the election was going to be. So there was a lot of discussion [about Trump], but I actually can’t remember what ― now that things are like this ― I can’t remember what the split was in the room.

We came up with the mens’ rights movement sketches as characters, but I still don’t know. I think that just came from a time where we thought maybe men were feeling unrepresented. It was a joke, really, but maybe it was more real than we imagined.

Carrie: Yeah, it was almost like we were still existing in a bubble of certainty, but at the same time, I think we felt a vulnerability. An encroaching vulnerability upon that certainty. And I remember that there was an anxiety that was creeping in ― realizing that what we assumed was in our future, might actually not happen.

And I think the most telling thing is when we tried to sort of move past the discussion ― which was at the time, the primaries and then the actual general election ― that we couldn’t. That we found, even in the preamble, that there were sort of fault-lines. We had to navigate that and I think we can see that in the writing. That we would land upon that place that felt a little unstable and try to kind of write from that.

I think a lot of our characters this season are sort of exploring change or disinheritance or a sense of, I don’t know, trouble ahead, I guess.

One of the sketches about men’s rights activists from Season 7

Fred and Carrie’s closing thoughts on contextualizing Season 7

Fred: The only thing I can think of is just the role of Portland. Now to me, it just represents a different kind of city. I personally just have this feeling of wanting to embrace it even more because I take it for granted less. That a whole city can have an identity like that. I think I just cherish it a little more now.

Carrie: I think I feel lucky that we have another season of “Portlandia” because, as much as it feels very necessary to write from a satirical perspective, I also feel the need to be able to see things through a lens of absurdity, because I think so much right now feels so out of whack as to be absurd. Verging on surreal.

And also people need to laugh. People always come back to me from each season and I think I’ve heard more [right now about] this relief at laughing. Just the actual physical, emotional release that comes from laughter. And I think that’s something that we’re really able to do on the show and I feel lucky to be able to do it for another year.

“Portlandia” airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on IFC.

Carrie Fisher Wanted Her ‘Fantastic Obit’ To Read Something Like This

Many touching obituaries have been written in the wake of Carrie Fisher’s death on Tuesday.

Yet, none are quite like the one the witty 60-year-old author once wrote for herself.

In Fisher’s 2008 memoir Wishful Drinking, which she also adapted into a one-woman show, the actress describes an exchange she had with “Star Wars” creator George Lucas about her iconic Princess Leia costume. She writes:

“George comes up to me the first day of filming and he takes one look at the dress and says, ‘You can’t wear a bra under that dress.’ So I say, ‘Okay, I’ll bite. Why?’ And he says, ‘Because … there’s no underwear in space.’ I promise you this is true, and he says it with such conviction too! Like he had been to space and looked around and he didn’t see any bras or panties or briefs anywhere.”

Lucas, who deemed gold bikinis A-OK in outer space, later explained to Fisher the logic behind his no-bras-in-other-galaxies rule, which she also describes in the book:

“What happens is you go to space and you become weightless. So far so good, right? But then your body expands??? But your bra doesn’t — so you get strangled by your own bra.”

She then reveals how she would like her “fantastic obit” to read:

“Now I think that this would make for a fantastic obit — so I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.

And Fisher fans on Twitter certainly obeyed:

And, at The Huffington Post, we’re honoring that too, Carrie. Rest in peace.

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher: A History of Their Mother-Daughter Collaborations

Only a day after iconic actress and writer Carried Fisher died at age 60 after suffering a heart attack, her equally famous mother, Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds, died at age 84, reportedly due to a possible stroke.

Calling Debbie Reynolds’ and Carrie Fisher’s relationship “complicated” is likely an understatement. They had a fraught relationship that many Fisher used as inspiration for in some of her most famous writings, including semi-autobiographical book and subsequent film Postcards from the Edge and her 2008 memoir Wishful Drinking. The pair shared the screen, stage and page on a variety of occasions. Let’s take a look.

Fisher made her television debut as a 13-year-old in Debbie Reynolds and the Sound of Children. Fisher played a Girl Scout, which was fitting, given her mother’s well-documented love of the organization. The program — footage of which is scarce to non-existent — was based on the old “Monday’s child…” rhyme and featured Reynolds and children singing songs along those lines.

Reynolds and Fisher made their Broadway debut in the same production, 1973’s revival of Irene. Fisher was 16 and played “Debutante;” the show’s run was widely lauded and ran for nearly 600 performances. Reynolds was nominated for her only Tony Award for her role as Irene O’Dare, though she lost to Glynis Johns for A Little Night Music. (The show earned four Tony nominations in all.)

Fisher adapted her 1987 novel Postcards from the Edge into a film of the same name in 1990. Despite the obvious parallels between her relationship with Reynolds and that of the film’s central characters, both Fisher and director Mike Nichols brushed off the idea that it was drawn directly from their relationship.

“I wrote about a mother actress and a daughter actress,” she told Entertainment Weekly in 1990. “I’m not shocked that people think it’s about me and my mother. It’s easier for them to think I have no imagination for language, just a tape recorder with endless batteries.”

Fisher then reunited Reynolds with her old pal—and onetime frenemy—Elizabeth Taylor in These Old Broads, a 2001 television movie that aired on ABC. (Reynolds’ first husband (and Carrie’s dad) Eddie Fisher infamously left his family to marry Taylor in 1959.)  Fisher wrote the film’s teleplay, and as Shirley MacLaine recalled to the Los Angeles Times, “It was a very serious thing for them — here’s the daughter of one, who’s the stepdaughter of the other. The three of them met and decided what they would and wouldn’t say. It was really quite Hollywoodishly historical.” The film notably included moments where Reynolds and Taylor banter about a “Freddie Hunter” who their characters fought over some years before.

Fisher and Reynolds then turned their relationship into an actual movie with this year’s Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, from documentary veterans Fisher Stevens and Alexis Bloom.

“Carrie wanted to make Bright Lights for Debbie and Debbie wanted to make it for Carrie,” HBO Documentary Films president Sheila Nevins told Variety Wednesday.

Much of the film’s footage was shot in 2015, and HBO is weighing the pair’s death this week in its consideration of the documentary’s air date.

“If this was a Hollywood script, no one would believe it,” Nevins continued. “They just loved each other so much. The bond was just unbreakable.”

In Memoriam Carrie Fisher

From l981, thereabouts, to l985 or 6, I’d say, I played the role of Carrie Fisher’s second banana and new best friend. There have been many of us over the years, but this was my particular tenure. I’m moved about it to write today for obvious reasons. It didn’t begin at the Paul Simon/Artie Garfunkel Passover supper at a dark restaurant in Manhattan, though that’s the first place I saw her sing “Oh My Papa,” drunk as a skunk.

It actually began on the floor of Richard Dreyfuss’s apartment where she announced in that deep froggy delivery: “You’re going to be my New Best Friend.” I had just moved to New York and was going out with one of her fave rave running mates, Michael O’Donoghue. I couldn’t see it. While she was, yes, somewhat funny, I could see that she was totally discombobulated.

She pressed her case. She kept dropping by Michael’s with lavish gifts for him, like a taxidermed bear. These visits were also designed to vet me better. I was writing for Esquire and Rolling Stone. It only gradually dawned on me that Carrie had writer envy. While she had made her way in movies, she secretly desired to be a writer. She had been around actors all her life, but writers were a different breed in her book. Writers were smart. Being respected as very intelligent was the goal.

She was highly intelligent. She was intensely funny. She was a fascinating study up close. Her mind moved in labyrinthian ways. During my term as NBF, she was on the first leg of recreating herself in a discipline Debbie didn’t do. She had also come into her first multi-millions. She was 24 years old. I didn’t let her sweep me off my feet because I was in the midst of recreating myself. Being sidecar to this crazy whirlwind was going to mess with my own credibility. She began to lavish tribute my way. The offerings were always wildly expensive.

Which brings me to being asked to serve as a bridesmaid in her wedding to Paul Simon. Because of this fabulous attachment, Penny Marshall and I, along with groomsmen, were whisked along on their honeymoon up the Nile By this time, as you can imagine, I was thoroughly pledged to the cause. This trip up the Nile was a trip, if you follow my drift. It was on that private pleasure boat it dawned on me that my real role was as straight man. Carrie had packed a fairy outfit complete with gossamer wings that she appeared in when we tied up to an island in the middle of the river for a full course banquet. When she blew glitter on our Arab crew, who had already had enough of us, they were not amused.

She had instructed me, before I left L.A., to ride up Lookout Mountain to her dealer to get the Grateful Dead acid I was to bring along to Cairo so we could drop some during our exclusive evening inside Cheops’ tomb. I said I didn’t think it was wise to fly halfway around the world with it even if the liquid sunshine was in a Murine bottle. No, no! How else were we to actually commune with the Pharaoh? It goes to show how persuasive she was when she wanted something she wanted that I procured it. One story about this and then I’ll quit for a later installment along the same lines.

When Penny and I got off the plane, we proceeded to the outdoor immigration space. I had hidden, get this, the Murine bottle in my…electric rollers! Remember those? In their own plastic case? I assumed the burly inspector who went through my bags wouldn’t deal with the case. He asked me, “What’s this?”

“Electric hair rollers,” I answered. He slowly unzipped the damn thing, watching me suspiciously the whole time. It was 105 degrees at 9 p.m. Needless to say, I was unhinged and sweating.

“What’s this?” He asked, pulling out the Murine bottle. It was then I noticed, to my horror, what one comes to register in every other legitimate Egyptian: painfully dry red eyes from living in that hellacious heat. He lifted the bottle for closer inspection. He unscrewed the top.

Steve Martin Deletes Carrie Fisher Tribute After Backlash

Steve Martin’s tribute to the late Carrie Fisher did not sit well with some.

The actor tweeted about Fisher, whom he called a friend, following the news that the “Star Wars” actress died Tuesday after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles last week.

New York Magazine noted that Martin’s tweet focused on her physicality, rather than her talents. The actor ultimately deleted the tweet following the backlash.

While some thought criticism of Martin was unjustified, others said Fisher ― a staunch feminist who spoke out against the objectification of women throughout her career ― wouldn’t have paid any mind to the “whiny dudes” getting mad over the clap-backs.

A rep for Martin was not immediately available for further comment.

WATCH: Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia Star Wars Audition — at Just 19

Before she became an icon as Princess Leia, the late Carrie Fisher had to audition for the part. In a leaked audition tape, the actress and author can be seen reading for the role in the original 1977 Star Wars movie alongside star Harrison Ford. She was 19.

Ford, who was 35 at the time, was a far more experienced actor with 10 years of acting experience, including a breakout role in American Graffiti. Fisher had only one big-screen credit — a small role in 1975’s Shampoo, filmed when she was just 17 years old.

But in watching the tape, it’s clear Fisher wasn’t at all intimidated. She held her own against Ford in the reading and showed signs of the fearless Leia we’d all come to know and love.

There’s also a lot of chemistry between Fisher and Ford — chemistry that transferred onscreen and off. Their two characters, Han Solo and Princess Leia, would fall for one another in the film — and the two actors would have a a whirlwind love affair on the set.

“It was so intense,” she previously explained to PEOPLE. “It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.”

While writing her latest book The Princess Diarist, Fisher stumbled upon her old, often angst-ridden journals that she kept while filming on location in London. She said she felt the time had come to open up about the formative experience.

Mary Evans/LUCASFILM/Ronald Grant/Everett

“It’s been 40 years!she told PEOPLE. “I didn’t say anything to anybody for years but it’s not like anyone’s deeply affected by it anymore.”

Fisher, 60, was aboard an 11-hour flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday when she went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics removed her from the flight and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for a heart attack. She later died in the hospital.

After her death, Ford mourned her loss.

“Carrie was one-of-a-kind…brilliant, original,” he said in a statement to PEOPLE. “Funny and emotionally fearless.  She lived her life, bravely… My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.”

Fisher is survived by mother Debbie Reynolds and daughter Billie Lourd.

Here’s Carrie Fisher In ‘One Of The Most Entertaining Interviews Ever’

Carrie Fisher died Tuesday at the age of 60, days after suffering a heart attack aboard a flight from London to Los Angeles.

In honor of the “Star Wars” icon’s refreshingly honest real-world persona, we’re highlighting this “Good Morning America” interview from December 2015, in which Fisher ― and her adorable dog Gary ― engage in what host Amy Robach calls “one of the most entertaining interviews ever.”

The interview begins with a relatively tame conversation about “The Force Awakens,” the 2015 Star Wars reboot Fisher played a role in, then veers wonderfully of course.

Robach honored Fisher with a tweet on Tuesday, recalling her conversation with a “brilliantly talented and funny” woman.

Debbie Reynolds Remembers Her Daughter, Carrie Fisher, In Heartbreaking Post

Of all the tributes pouring in after the death of beloved actress Carrie Fisher, none are quite as heartbreaking as the one written by her mother, Debbie Reynolds.

The 84-year-old actress shared an emotional post on Facebook Tuesday, just a few hours after Fisher’s death.

“Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter,” she wrote. “I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carries Mother.”

After just an hour, the post had over 70,000 likes and more than 10,000 comments from fans sending their love to Reynolds after the loss of her child.

“To most of us, she was a princess who fought back, who didn’t take no for an answer….but she was so much more than a singular role,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “No parent should see their child leave first. Thank you for being a great mother to such a talented woman. This world needed her. All my love and prayers.”

Fisher died on Tuesday, days after she suffered a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles. Her daughter, 24-year-old actress Billie Lourd, released a statement through a spokesperson announcing her mother’s death.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” the statement said. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Carrie Fisher Confesses To ‘Intense’ Affair With ‘Star Wars’ Co-Star Harrison Ford

Talk about a blast from the past!

Carrie Fisher has FINALLY answered one of the longest-running “Have they or haven’t they” questions regarding her romantic history with Harrison Ford. The actress finally confessed the two indeed had a romantic relationship during the filming of the original “Star Wars” movie in 1976, when Ford was married with two children.

“It was so intense,” the actress told People about being with the 33-year-old when she was still just a teenager. “I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind.”

“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend,” Fisher added.

The now-60-year-old actress spilled all of the details about their three-month affair (which happened “a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away”) in her new memoir, The Princess Diarist

There have long been rumors about the pair’s alleged relationship, but Fisher has always played coy. According to People, the actress sent Ford a copy of her memoir as well as a “heads up” about what it revealed.

Ford is currently married to his third wife, Calista Flockhart, and it’ll be interesting to see if he speaks out about the affair. The Huffington Post has reached out to reps for Ford and will update this post accordingly.

Head over to People to learn more about Fisher and Ford’s affair, or pick up a copy of the magazine on newsstands this week.

‘Sex And The City’ Creator Darren Starr Didn’t Want Carrie To End Up With Big

In another world, Carrie Bradshaw may not have had her happily ever after with Mr. Big.

Show creator Darren Starr revealed in a new Kindle Singles interview that he believes the show’s finale went against its central conceit.

“… if you’re empowering other people to write and produce your show, you can’t … say certain things,” Starr said.

“At a certain point, you’ve got to let them follow their vision. … But I think the show ultimately betrayed what it was about, which was that women don’t ultimately find happiness from marriage,” he continued. “Not that they can’t. But the show initially was going off script from the romantic comedies that had come before it. That’s what had made women so attached.”

In other words, if Starr had been behind the wheel, we might have seen Carrie stomp off alone into the dust, pair of Manolos encasing her independent woman feet.

As it were, she got Big (Chris Noth), who, just last week, had a “Sex and the City” reunion with Carrie Bradshaw’s other love interest Aidan (John Corbett) at the Open Road Films’ Golden Globes party for “Spotlight.”

No word yet on if either one brought up that insane Carrie-Aidan kiss from “Sex and the City 2.”

On another note, there seems to have been a whole lot of “Sex and the City” press of late. Cue the conspiracy theories that the show is trying to have a Netflix reunion or something.

Claire Danes Reveals The ‘Homeland’ Crew’s Running Joke About Carrie

Warning: Very, very mild spoilers ahead.

“Homeland” is back in full force — not halfway through the first episode we saw Carrie Mathison drawn back to the CIA, unfortunately for her. In an interview with People, Claire Danes explained her character’s growth at the start of Season 5.

“[Carrie] is doing very well, she has a gorgeous, smart German lawyer boyfriend and she’s really connected to her child and she’s really happy — for about five minutes,” Danes said.

“Then she’s kidnapped — again.” Again!

Unlike other shows, where a character might be kidnapped once and scarred for life, getting thrown in an unmarked van has become a routine on “Homeland.”

“We were joking that Carrie should have a drawer full of kidnap hoods next to her delicates, she’s got so many,” Danes told People. “Some mesh, some jersey.”

“Homeland” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.

Carrie Underwood (Country Singer and 2005 American Idol Winner)

This book is part of Hyperink’s best little books series. This best little book is 4,000+ words of fast, entertaining information on a highly demanded topic. Based on reader feedback (including yours!), we may expand this book in the future. If we do so, we’ll send a free copy to all previous buyers. ABOUT THE BOOKFrom Oklahoma small town girl to platinum recording artist, Carrie Underwood has transformed before America’s eyes like a character in a modern fairy tale. Though Carrie began singing at the precocious age of three in her church choir, by the time she was twenty-one, a career in singing was far from her mind. Instead, the college senior was looking forward to graduation and pursuing a career in broadcast journalism. One fateful day in 2004, though, Carrie looked up the audition locations for the fourth season of American idol. With no professional singing experience, Carrie was certain she would not be chosen to go to Hollywood. Much to her surprise, however, judges Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jackson loved the country sound of the small town girl. In 2005, Carrie breezed through the competition to become the fourth American Idol. The fairytale wasn’t quite over yet. Since her American Idol victory, Underwood has become one of the biggest names in country music, making three platinum albums. Underwood has won multiple Billboard Awards, Country Music Awards, American Music Awards, and five Grammy Awards. She has crisscrossed North America several times, performing in front of sold-out crowds to millions of fans. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOKBy the time Carrie was in college, she had made the decision to choose a practical career path. Singing was a dream that Carrie relegated to childhood. At Northeastern State University, Carrie concentrated on a degree in journalism. Underwood worked part-time at a pizzeria and interned with Oklahoma State Representative Bobby Frame. Underwood wasn’t all work and no play. In fact, Carrie joined the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority,

Brad Paisley And Carrie Underwood Poke Fun At Taylor Swift During CMA Awards

For the seventh year in a row, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosted the CMA Awards, and their opening monologue was hilarious, as usual.

This year, the duo took aim at fellow country stars including George Strait, Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton. But the pair got the whole crowd laughing when they discussed “Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder,” which of course references Swift’s move from country to pop music with her new album “1989.” Paisley and Underwood penned a little jingle about Swift, singing, “Who’s going to fill her shoes? Who’s going to stand that tall? Who’s going to be country and poppy and sing a song called ‘Tim McGraw?'”

Still, the country superstars shared their congratulations with their friend and ended the bit with: “Country music’s just going to have to shake it off.” Clever guys, very clever.

Paisley and Underwood also took on the Ebola hysteria and sang their own version of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” called “Quarantine,” calling out nurse Kaci Hickox from Maine for riding her bike while under a “voluntary” quarantine order.

And of course, they shared some jokes about Underwood’s pregnancy, with Paisley joking that he knows the sex of her unborn baby.

“I know something you all don’t know, suck it TMZ!”

Carrie Mae Weems Explores Inequalities Embedded In Artistic Institutions

Most of us who have ever wandered the halls of an art museum have felt the uncanny power of experiencing a multitude of voices, visions, times and places, all speaking simultaneously through the works mounted on white walls. However, an unfortunate majority of these voices are dead, white and male. To this day, mainstream institutions exhibit a shocking majority of works from the DWEM (dead white European males) set, leaving a sweeping range of experiences and stories left unshared.

In “Museum Series,” photographer and 2013 MacArthur Fellow Carrie Mae Weems casts a quizzical eye on the seemingly impervious Museum. The series depicts a variety of art institutions local and abroad, spanning everything from the Louvre and the Tate Modern to the Project Row Houses in Houston. In each photo Weems stands before said majestic edifices, her back facing the camera, donning a long, black dress. Like a sort of anti-Marina Abramovic, who has become somewhat of a museum celebrity — and also rocks long gowns — Weems renders herself at once regal, prophetic and anonymous.

Weems, who hovers in the frame at once small and strong, casts herself as an outsider in relation to the mammoth museum worlds, distant from the artist whose works hang within them. Each photograph features Weems in a different position, angle and size, perhaps in connection to her impression of each museum space. Rather than outrightly state or scream certain injustices in protest, Weems’ humbly invites viewers to reach their own conclusions using a persuasive whisper. However, Weems does not diminish the importance of a museum’s choices. Aside from affecting individuals’ lives as some artists are accepted to the holy halls while others aren’t, museums’ decisions also dictate who is and is not inscribed in history.

Weems’ overall oeuvre explores the experiences of African-American women through photography, text and video. Weems invites viewers to contemplate instances of inequality, whether they be minor incidents in the home or a prejudiced construction of art history. In this series in particular, the artist asks viewers to meditate on museums not as pre-existing temples but man-made creations, in which some are included and others are not. The images are so subtly constructed, you’ll think you came up with the conclusion yourself.

“Carrie Mae Weems: The Museum Series” is on view from January 30 until June 29, 2014 at the Studio Museum in Harlem. Weems’s mid-career retrospective is simultaneously on view at the Guggenheim Museum from January 24 to May 14, 2014
