Bonpoint Gets Guests Reminiscing About Childhood

HAPPY DAYS: Bonpoint’s show Wednesday afternoon at the Palais de Tokyo had guests musing about childhood. Appropriately so, it turns out: The venue was chosen so that guests could afterward meander through the “Another Banana Day for the Dream-fish” exhibition about childhood currently on show there, sponsored by the luxury children’s wear label.
Laure Hériard Dubreuil’s four-year-old son Marcel was walking the show for the first time. “I’m very nervous, much more nervous than he is,” she shared beforehand.
There was no need — most of the kids on the tree-lined runway looked to be having a ball, with two youngsters squirting each other with water pistols as they walked, another scooting around on a skateboard, his scuffed Vans proving that it was not just for show.
Hériard Dubreuil’s favorite childhood memories are of spending family time in the cognac region – her family produces the Rémy Martin brand. “Having lots of brothers and sisters and having a farm,” she said. “And getting drunk from the vapors of the cognac coming out of the barrels.”
For Lauren Santo Domingo, it was about being carefree. “Just being outdoors and free and unscheduled,” she said. “That would be nice.”

Lucy Liu Wants to #BringArtBackToSchools After Her Childhood Passion Changed Her Life

Lucy Liu has school art programs to thank for her success as an actress.

The Kill Bill star, 49, tells PEOPLE she mined her creativity by exploring her artistic hobbies at school. Growing up, Liu says, her parents didn’t encourage art in their home. The only time she could explore that side of herself, she says, was in school.

“It actually changed my life completely because since we were so math and science oriented,” she recalls. “When I started to get involved and do art on my own and at school in those programs, I was able to understand that I really wanted to have a creative life. Once I graduated from school I obviously pursued that and continued to pursue it even though my parents were not thrilled about that.”

That’s why Liu says she is partnering up with LIFEWTR, the premium bottled water company, and the brand’s “Arts in Education Series” on Arts Advocacy Day to drive conversation around the importance of arts in education and help #BringArtBackToSchools. On Monday, the actress posted about the campaign to her Instagram alongside a message on how her fans can get involved and help their local schools receive free art kits from LIFEWTR.

“Today, @LIFEWTR is announcing a commitment to reach one million students nationwide in the next year through curated curriculum, distribution of art supplies and local partnerships to champion this cause and inspire the next generation of artists like myself,” she wrote. “Please join me and share your story about how art has had a positive impact on you or someone you know, zip code and #BringArtBackToSchools. They’ll be donating art kits to classrooms in select schools across the country.”

The initiative combines two of the things Liu is most passionate about. As a mom herself to 2-and-a-half-year-old Rockwell Lloyd, the Elementary actress says it’s important to make sure kids explore their creativity when young.

“I have a few focuses. One of them is children, the other one is art and the other one is acting,” Liu says. “With kids especially, there’s a certain freedom that they have with the way they express themselves and that’s what we should tap into now. And what I love about what LIFEWTR is doing is they’re advocating for that and they’re advocating for people to have an opportunity to discover themselves as artists and to inspire other people.”

How To Have Sex In Your Childhood Bedroom Over The Holidays

There are two kinds of people: those who would never dream of doing anything remotely sexual in their family home and those who are horny (and brave!) enough to give it a whirl.

If you place yourself in the second category, below are some basic pointers to help you get busy this holiday season both discreetly and pleasurably.

1. Whatever you do, don’t forget to lock the door. Unless you want your little nephew barging in, asking why Auntie is “playing horsey” with her friend Doug.

2. Try to squeeze it in during the day while most of the family is downstairs cooking/day-drinking/watching football/hanging out. They’ll be none the wiser.

3. But if an afternoon delight isn’t your style, do the deed earlier in the evening before you’ve lowered your inhibitions with an entire bottle of wine. Remember, you must not be brazen in your endeavors.

4. Or use the inevitably tense conversation about politics as an opportunity to politely excuse yourself from the table and sneak upstairs.

5. Once you’re in the bedroom, turn down any family photos on your nightstand so that you don’t feel Granny’s penetrating gaze while you’re, er, doing some penetration yourself.

6. To muffle the sound of any pleasure noises, use your festive snowman socks as a gag and bite down. Hard.

7. The creaking noise your childhood bed makes when it rocks back and forth is a dead giveaway. May we suggest doing the deed standing up or on a blanket on the floor?

8. If you have a TV in your room, you can also drown out any noise by putting on “Home Alone” at a considerable volume. Other holiday movies will also do the trick.

9. Also, a friendly reminder to dispose of condoms with the utmost care and stealth. Nobody ― and we mean nobody ― needs to see that.

10. If you have kids, schedule a day outing with grandma and grandpa for them in advance. And use that time wisely.

Got all that? Now go forth and spread some holiday cheer of the below-the-belt variety.

Tom Hanks’ Brother Secretly Voices Woody When Tom Is Busy, AKA Your Childhood Is A Lie

If you’ve ever had a Woody toy, video game or — in a few cases — seen a “Toy Story” movie, you’ve assumed the voice you heard coming from the cowboy in the yellow-plaid shirt was that of Tom Hanks.

Well, reach for the sky, because there’s been a snake in your boot/ears this whole time. This town was big enough for two all along and the dual-sheriffs are actually Tom Hanks and his brother, Jim Hanks.

UK-based comedian Graham Norton used his show to confront Tom about this mystery back in 2011, bringing out a Woody doll and asking if he had provided the voice.

“No, it’s my brother Jim,” Tom responded smirking, and then continued on to explain, “There are so many computer games and video things and Jim just works on those all year long.”

Clarifying how this initial idea came about, Tom said that it had to do with him being too busy to handle all the extra voice work. He recalled to Norton, being asked rhetorically, “You don’t want to do this,” to which he appears to still respond, “No, get my brother Jim, he’ll do it.”

As my co-worker put it, this means “your child’s cute little Woody toys are a f**king lie.” Another surprised and uncharacteristically outraged co-worker added, “everything is bulls**t.”

How could this be?

Jim Hanks is an actor in his own right, with a long list of credits since 1992. One such recent role in 2015 was for a short titled, “The Other Brother,” where he plays the sibling of a famous Hollywood producer. His character’s job in the short is to give tram tours around Universal Studios, showing off the more well-known brother’s success.

Over a dozen credits are from his work voicing Woody in “Toy Story” properties. Many of these are for video games, but you’ve most likely heard his work in the popular doll versions of Woody (which Norton showed) or if you’re of a certain generation, perhaps in the 2000 movie, “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins.”

Jim can manipulate his voice to sound almost exactly like his brother’s, which is part of the reason why you’ve never noticed the difference. The other part, of course, being that you didn’t expect a beloved actor and Pixar’s first franchise to betray you.

In the video below, Jim shows off his relative talent, while also admitting what scares him about the level of fame that follows his brother.

The Huffington Post reached out to Jim Hanks’ representation, along with multiple producers from his early ”Toy Story” roles, but nobody wished to comment on the story.

With no further answers to console your shaken memories, it’s time to find your old Woody toy, pull its string and somehow accept that it has actually been pulling your string this whole time.

“You’re my favorite deputy,” Jim Hanks tells you in Tom Hanks’ voice as Woody.

You should have always known you were second string.

7 Childhood Trends From The 2015 Paris Couture Week Runways

Haute couture is often viewed as spectacle rather than practical wear. But here we are at the end of Paris Couture Fashion Week, thinking of all the things we could wear from designers like Elie Saab and Fendi

Ralph & Russo is trying to make them a thing. Oh, and striped tights? Looks like Jean Paul Gaultier is calling for a resurgence.

This Possible ‘Harry Potter’ Couple Would Ruin Harry Potter’s Childhood Even More

Harry Potter might want to keep away from the latest edition of The Quibbler.

Following a recent Instagram post, the online speculation is that Harry’s dad, James Potter, aka actor Robbie Jarvis, may be dating Luna Lovegood, aka actress Evanna Lynch. And if Harry’s childhood wasn’t ruined before, it definitely is now:

That photo isn’t all, though. Despite the fact that E! wasn’t given conformation from Jarvis’ reps that the two were dating, other cute photos just seem to add to the evidence. Take this one for example:

Trying on hats with @msevylynch. Which one of us looks better? #fancy

A photo posted by Robbie (@awildrobbieattacks) on

And check out this one where they apparently took Polyjuice Potion and transformed into owls. Nice try, James and Luna, but we know it’s you:

Owls!

A photo posted by Robbie (@awildrobbieattacks) on

So why is this such a big deal? OK, first, let’s skip past the fact that in “Harry Potter,” Luna came in during Ginny’s year and is younger than Harry. Just forget that. But didn’t Harry also take Luna to Professor Slughorn’s Christmas party? Now his dad might be taking her out? Oh, and what about Lily Potter, James? What about Lily?

Voldemort has done some pretty messed up things to Harry Potter before, but this might be crossing the line.

That being said, we wish all the happiness in the world to the potential couple because they are just actors and Harry Potter isn’t real. Or that’s what people want you to believe, anyway.

Representatives for the actors did not immediately respond to The Huffington Post’s requests for comment.

Dad Captures Beautiful Photos Of Son’s Childhood After Almost Losing Him

One morning in 2013, dad Adrian Murray and his wife Michelle experienced every parent’s nightmare. They woke up to find their 10-month-old son Emerson unresponsive in his crib.

The parents rushed their baby to the hospital, where he remained for three days. After severals rounds of tests, doctors still could not provide an answer as to what exactly was wrong with Emerson. A few days later, the Murrays brought their son back to the hospital after they found him unresponsive again. The baby was put on anti-seizure medication.

Emerson’s ordeal was an eye-opening experience for his father Adrian, who was inspired to take photographs of his son’s childhood. “I felt like life goes by in an instant and that I needed to try and capture those moments of wonder,” he told The Huffington Post in an email.

Murray’s photos of Emerson depict the little boy in moments of pure innocence and joy. Drawing inspiration from some of his own favorite childhood stories like Winnie the Pooh, Murray’s photos “revolve around the idea of adventure and discovery,” he explained.

“Our kids are bombarded by digital media, lights, and plastic. I wanted something closer to what child is all about, wonder and discovery,” Murray added. “That’s why we try to go to a park, or explore nature as often as we can.”

Today, 2-year-old Emerson is in good health and no longer needs to take anti-seizure meds. This past February, the toddler became a big brother to “his partner in crime” Greyson.

The below images are just a sample of Adrian Murray’s beautiful photos of his happy little boys on adventures. You can view more on his photography site, Facebook page, and 500px profile.

Mom Captures A Special Part Of Childhood In ‘Comfort Objects’ Photo Series

As a mom of three, photographer Anna Ream is no stranger to the concept of “comfort objects” — the blankets, stuffed animals, dolls and other items that children latch on to for emotional release and support.

In the fall of 2012, she decided to make those very comfort objects the subject of a stunning photo series of the same name. “I was pondering objects representative of childhood and wanted to focus a body of work on the 2-to-6-year-old age range,” she told The Huffington Post in an email, adding, “It is one of my favorite developmental stages because children are becoming more independent, their language skills are developing rapidly and they are becoming more aware of the world around them.”

To date, Ream has photographed over 70 children with their comfort objects. She started with her own kids and family, as well as children from their preschool. From there, the project snowballed as she photographed other children through community connections and even reached out to strangers.

“Childhood comfort objects seem to me like a very real and authentic example of how tangible things can provide emotional comfort,” the photographer said.

Ream’s children are 13, 8, and 3 years old, and they have all had comfort objects at some point in their lives. When Ream began the project, her middle child Eowyn had decided she was too old for her stuffed dog named Ginger. Eowyn handed the dog down to her younger brother, but a few months later, she found herself crying in the middle of a difficult day. “I need Ginger,” she told her mom.

“For me, this story illustrates both the intense emotional connection children have with their object, but also how the object is a part of what gets left behind in the process of normal childhood development,” Ream said. “As a parent, there is some sadness and loss associated with those transitions.”

Detoxing Childhood

Detoxing Childhood

When Sue Palmer wrote Toxic Childhood, her ground-breaking book that showed how problems of diet, education, fitness and mental health problems were all inter-related, she created a national debate. Everyone from educationists and scientists to politicians, religious leaders and authors got involved in the debate. The problems seemed potentially overwhelming. Now, in this important successor volume, Sue Palmer provides an essential guide on how to bring up children in a way that avoids the problems of a toxic world. With practical, easy-to-follow advice she explains what children need, in terms of food, play, sleep and talk; what childcare and education will help most; how families can work together for the best, given the hectic pace of 21st century life; and how to turn the electronic village of TV, computers and mobile phones to our advantage. Understanding Childhood Obesity

Understanding Childhood Obesity

Almost fourteen percent of American children over age six and twelve percent of adolescents are obese, more than double the rate of thirty years ago. Although there are countless diet and weight-loss books on the market, few of them explain in jargon-free terms the basic factors, the body processes that can lead to childhood obesity, and the research currently underway to combat this growing health risk. In Understanding Childhood Obesity , Dr. J. Clinton Smith has created a comprehensive guide covering nearly every field of obesity research. He explores causes and methods of control, the body's physical and chemical make up, prevention strategies, new treatments and behavior modifications, and future research possibilities. Smith closely examines the genetic and environmental factors that can lead to childhood obesity. For parents, he answers the all-important question of whether an obese child needs help, and he outlines traditional diet and exercise treatments as well as aggressive medical and surgical techniques. He also introduces readers to the "continuous care and problem solving model" that has proved valuable in pediatric treatment clinics. Featured are: An explanation of how obesity is identified by using a child's height and weight.; A frank discussion of the health consequences of obesity.; A review of how the body breaks down food for energy and how and why the body stores energy.; An examination of the powerful environmental factors affecting childhood weight gain.; A thorough gathering of the treatments and research, and a view of exciting new discoveries in genetics and body chemistry. J. Clinton Smith is an associate professor of pediatrics and an assistant professor of preventive medicine at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He has taught at Louisiana State University, practiced privately in pediatrics, and has served as Medical Director to the Tennessee State Department of Health and Environment and as Executive Director of the Division of Medicaid to the Office of the Governor, State of Mississippi.
