Sacha Baron Cohen (in Character!) Responds to Sarah Palin’s Claims She Was ‘Duped’ for His Show

Sacha Baron Cohen‘s on-screen alter ego is responding to Sarah Palin‘s claims she was “duped” into an interview for his new show, Who Is America?.

Cohen debuted his new character, named Dr. Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr., through a mock Twitter account, releasing a lengthy statement to the former Alaska governor on Thursday.

Demanding an apology from Palin, Ruddick Jr.’s remarks come four days after Cohen released the trailer for his upcoming Showtime series, in which he goes undercover to prank various celebrities and politicians.

“Vice-President Palin, I am Dr. Billy Wayne Ruddick … and it was I that interviewed you. I did NOT say I was a War Vet,” the statement began.

RELATED: Sarah Palin Isn’t the Only One: Dick Cheney, Bernie Sanders Also Got Duped by Sacha Baron Cohen

“I was in the service — not military, but United Parcel, and I only fought for my country once — when I shot a Mexican who came onto my property. (Coincidentally, just like our Great President, I was sadly prevented from joining the regular army on account of bone spurs bein discovered in my testies),” the letter continued.

“I have always admired you for TELLING THE TRUTH about Obama’s birth certificate and the location of Russia. But ma’am, I do believe you have been hit by a bulls–t grenade and are now bleedin’ FAKE NEWS,” the statement said.

“You used to hunt the most dangerous animals in the country, like wolves and people on welfare. So why hunt a fine citizen journalist like myself? I DEMAND AN APOLOGY,” the letter concluded.

RELATED: Sarah Palin Tells Sacha Baron Cohen After ‘Dupe’: ‘My Daughter Thinks You’re a Piece of S–t’

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

In a lengthy Facebook post on Tuesday, Palin revealed she was unwittingly interviewed by Cohen, who she alleged disguised himself as a disabled U.S. veteran for the sit-down.

“Yup — we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now? I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’ Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime,” the former Republican vice-presidential candidate wrote.

A source told PEOPLE on Wednesday that Palin walked out of the prank interview after the disguised Cohen asked her a “horrible” question about Chelsea Clinton.

The interview, which taped in November 2017, was booked through a speaker’s bureau that was working with the former Republican vice-presidential candidate at the time. “The request was very sophisticated and looked legit,” the source said.

“All of it was obnoxious, but I think the last straw was when the interviewer asked about what he claimed was a government-funded sex-change operation for Chelsea Clinton,” the source shared. “Cohen was trying to get Governor Palin to say something homophobic and hateful. She takes it personally when anyone goes after the children and families of politicians. She just thought, ‘What a horrible thing.’ She was particularly incensed about that.”

Palin said that she and her daughter were asked to travel across the country for the interview, claiming Cohen had “heavily disguised himself as a disabled US Veteran, fake wheelchair and all.”

Who Is America? premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.

House of Horrors Mom Seems ‘Almost in a Daze’ in Jail, Sister Claims: ‘It’s All “Woe Is Me” ‘

The sister of a California mom accused of abusing her 13 children in a house of horrors claims the woman appeared “almost at peace” and “in a daze” during a recent jail visit.

What’s more, Elizabeth Flores says of sister Louise Turpin: “She’s not who I grew up with. Something’s not clicking right in the head, something’s not right. It’s all ‘woe is me.’ ”

Flores will detail her recent sit-down with Turpin in an upcoming episode of The Dr. Oz Show. Exclusive previews from that episode are above and below.

Turpin and her husband, David Turpin, were arrested in mid-January in Perris, California, after authorities say they discovered the 13 Turpin children allegedly living in squalid conditions, with some chained to the furniture.

At the time, the kids ranged in age from 2 to 29 and only the youngest seemed to have been somewhat spared, according to prosecutors.

David, 56, and 49-year-old Louise were quickly taken into custody. Both face numerous criminal charges, including abuse, false imprisonment and torture. They have pleaded not guilty.

Louise’s sister and her cousin Tricia Andreassen recently met with them in separate conversations from behind bars in California. Andreassen and Flores will describe those interactions on a Dr. Oz episode airing Monday.

“I was kind of shocked,” Flores says in one of the clips. “I figured that her main concern would be the children.”

• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.

Asked if she believes Louise is sick, Flores says she does.

“She was almost in a daze, like everything’s going to be alright, like she was just — I didn’t see evilness at all, almost at peace,” Flores says.

(She has previously said she and Louise were not close, telling ABC News in January: “My sister and I haven’t really had a sister relationship for about 20 years. … Other than maybe like a call every once in a while, and sometimes those calls are like a year apart.”)

At times during their conversation, Flores claims, Louise was behaving as if “she was hearing voices,” and she believes Louise has disconnected from the reality of her situation.

In the second clip from the episode, Flores says: “My sister, she’s living a fantasy and she wants to keep it all hidden. She’s playing a game.”

Flores and Andreassen also met with David, who they say acted in a strikingly different manner than his wife.

“He broke down in sobs at one point,” Andreassen says in the second clip.

“I was absolutely shocked,” Flores says. “I am so glad that Louise asked me to see him. I needed that, for me. When I went in there, I immediately saw that he knew he had done wrong, he was remorseful, he cried the whole entire time. It wasn’t fake.”

David was like “a little boy that was ready to confess everything he had done,” Flores says.

“He kept saying, ‘I wish I could tell you about what we’ve done, what happened.’ … He had been advised not to,” she claims.

• For more compelling True Crime coverage, follow our Crime magazine on Flipboard

David and Louise have been in police custody since Jan. 14, when their 17-year-old daughter escaped from their house and called 911, authorities have said.

They are each being held in lieu of $ 9 million bond and possible life sentences in prison if convicted of all charges. Their attorneys have declined to comment specifically about the allegations agains them.

Meanwhile, those caring for the siblings say they are recovering and experiencing new things, including using iPads and learning guitar.

The Turpin children were recently treated to a private concert by cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

Louise and David’s conversations with Louise’s relatives will be detailed further on Monday’s The Dr. Oz Show. Check local listings.

Fla. Woman Caught on Camera Asking Man to Kill Husband Gets 16 Years, But Lawyer Claims it Was Reality TV Stunt

A Florida woman accused of hiring a hit man to kill her husband in 2009 has been sentenced to 16 years in prison — but her attorney tells PEOPLE his client will appeal the case.

Dalia Dippolito was convicted last month of solicitation of first-degree murder. According to prosecutors, she was recorded on video and audio as she plotted to have Michael Dippolito killed. During her trial, jurors heard her telling an undercover detective she was “5,000 percent sure” she wanted her husband dead.

Circuit Judge Glenn Kelley imposed the sentence on Dippolito, saying that she had acted in a “cold and calculated manner.”

No money ever changed hands between Dippolito and the undercover detective, and Michael Dippolito was unharmed.

Dippolito has maintained that she never intended to go through with the murder-for-hire plot. Her attorneys say the recordings were part of a video project that she was doing along with Michael and her former lover so that the trio could land a reality TV show.

Dippolito’s attorney, Brian Claypool, told jurors that officers with the Boynton Beach Police Department failed to properly investigate the situation because they were eager to capture video footage for the TV show Cops.

Dippolito remains hopeful her conviction will be overturned on appeal, Claypool tells PEOPLE. A 2011 conviction was thrown out on appeal. A retrial last fall ended with a 3-3 hung jury.

• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.

“She’s doing surprisingly well, considering,” Claypool says. “She is clinging to her faith during this time.”

Claypool tells PEOPLE that Dippolito’s team has several avenues for appeal.

Throughout the trial, Claypool alerted the judge that one of the jurors was allegedly falling asleep. “She was almost snoring,” he says. “We made two trial complaints on the record, and submitted five affidavits from people who saw her sleeping. Florida caselaw is clear that this is grounds for a new trial.”

If that doesn’t work, the defense will appeal on the grounds that X-rated text messages between Dippolito and her lover — who has since died — were prejudicial hearsay and should not have been read to the jury. Claypool also says that jurors heard unsubstantiated allegations that Dippolito had once tried to kill her husband with antifreeze, and that she had previously tried to hire another hitman.

“There are several grounds for appeal,” says Claypool, “and we intend to pursue them all. My client is not perfect, but she is a mother who didn’t do what they said she did. A lot of the evidence that was introduced was not only irrelevant, but it was extremely prejudicial.”

Prosecutors did not return PEOPLE’s calls for comment.

On Saturday, Jaden Smith recounted some hiccups during his stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto on Twitter, claiming they “spiked” his pancakes with cheese.

Smith, who is in Toronto filming his upcoming romantic drama Life In A Year, first claimed the hotel made him “want to throw up.”

“The Four Seasons In Toronto Just Made Me Want to Throw Up On MySelf,” he first wrote to his six million followers on Saturday.

The fashion boundary-pusher continued, “I Hope The Four Seasons In Toronto Puts Me On The No Stay List.”

He then fired off two more claims that elaborated on how his hotel stay had turned sour.

“The Four Seasons In Toronto Spiked My Pancakes With Cheese, I’m Surprised I’m Still Alive,” he tweeted, followed by, “After They Kicked Me Out Of My Room.”

Smith ceased his tweets after his final claim of the hotel kicking him out of his room.

The Four Seasons and Smith’s rep did not respond to a request for comment.

Deadline reported in March that Smith had been cast opposite Cara Delevingne in Life in a Year. The plot follows a 17-year-old boy who, after learning his girlfriend is dying from cancer, sets out to give her their entire life together, in the year she has left. Dad Will Smith is producing the Mitja Okorn-directed film that will also star Terrence Howard and Nia Long.

“I was very disturbed to hear from a number of girls this morning that yesterday at the Balenciaga casting Madia & Ramy (serial abusers) held a casting in which they made over 150 girls wait in a stairwell, told them they would have to stay over 3 hours to be seen and not to leave,” said Scully in the lengthy social media posting. “In their usual fashion they shut the door, went to lunch and turned off the lights, to the stairs leaving every girl with only the lights of their phones to see. Not only was this sadistic and cruel it was dangerous and left more than a few of the girls I spoke with traumatized. Most of the girls have asked to have their options for Balenciaga cancelled as well as Hermès and Elie Saab who they also cast for because they refuse to

Trump Transition Team Claims Russia Doesn’t Exist

Following CIA claims of Russian interference in the 2016 election, members of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team insist that Russia doesn’t actually exist. “This so-called ‘country’ is another ridiculous fabrication concocted by the intelligence community, the liberal media, and elite academics, just like they concocted the Constitution and gravity,” said chief fabulist Marcy Joane Darkhaart. “Certainly President-elect Trump would have heard about a country like ‘Russia’ in his daily intelligence briefings and since he doesn’t go to any of those briefings, there’s nothing for him to hear about, and since he will be President, therefore, ‘Russia’ doesn’t exist. Is that so hard to understand?”

Trump’s transition team says stories of “Russia” hacking the election are just sour grapes on the part of Democrats and that we should all concentrate our efforts on the war against Eastasia, with whom the United States has always been at war, except when it has never been at war with Eastasia. In the meantime, President-elect Trump continues the laborious process of tweeting responses to every person who has ever said anything negative about him. “He’s currently on Aaron Aklop of Gila Bend, Arizona, who is a real jerk,” says Darkhaart. “By the end of his first 100 days in office, God willing, Trump should be on the D’s.”

DNC Chair Claims Weekend Debates Are Meant To ‘Maximize’ Attention For Candidates

On the eve of the third straight Democratic presidential primary debate scheduled on a weekend, Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz defended her party’s debate schedule, saying it aimed to ”maximize” voters’ exposure to the candidates.

“I did my best to make sure, along with my staff and along with our debate partners, to come up with a schedule that we felt was going to allow for the — to maximize the opportunity for voters to see our candidates,” she told CNN’s Brian Stelter Sunday.

The Florida congresswoman has come under fire from members of her party for scheduling several debates on weekends, when fewer voters are likely to tune in. Critics, including candidates Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, have argued that the schedule gives front-runner Hillary Clinton an advantage.

Sunday’s debate in Charleston, South Carolina, the last time the three Democrats will face off before the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1, will air at 9 p.m. ET, following an NFL playoff game and preceding Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a federal holiday.

The last two Democratic debates were both held on Saturday evenings. In general, they have attracted significantly fewer viewers than the GOP debates.

Questioned by Stelter on Sunday, Wasserman Schultz claimed the disparity was due to the size of the GOP field.

She also argued that having more debates would “take away” voters’ chances to see the candidates in person at campaign events, even though Democrats will only have six debates in total. Meanwhile, Republicans are holding twice as many primary debates and have one more showdown scheduled before Iowa.

Citing the debate schedule, as well as her handling of other aspects of the Democratic primary, several progressive organizations have recently called on Wasserman Schultz to resign.

One such group, CREDO Action, posted a petition last week alleging that she has “pursued her own agenda at the expense of the progressive base and basic principles of fairness.”

“As DNC chair, you have repeatedly failed to act in the best interests of progressives and the Democratic Party,” the group wrote. ”You have lost the trust of grassroots progressives and Democrats. Please resign immediately.”

Museum’s ‘Kimono Wednesdays’ Cancelled After Claims Of Racism

“Kimono Wednesdays” sounds more like an ill-advised sorority ritual than sanctioned museum programming. And yet, this month, at the MFA Boston, museumgoers lined up to touch and try on kimonos in front of Claude Monet’s “La Japonaise.”

It wasn’t long before protestors spoke out both on social media and on the museum grounds, dubbing the initiative to be culturally insensitive and racist. Critics pointed out that, even worse, the garments on display were actually uchikake, not kimonos. Insert forehead slap.

As a result of the outrage, the MFA swiftly canceled “Kimono Wednesdays,” which was scheduled to continue until July 29.

Originally imagined to accompany Monet’s “La Japonaise,” a painting of the artist’s wife Camille Doncieux posing with a fan and kimono, the program encouraged visitors to ”channel your inner Camille Monet” by posing in similar garb.

What’s strange is that Monet’s piece is often interpreted as a satirical response to the absurd, fetishistic craze of the Japanese aesthetic sweeping Paris around 1876, at the time of the work’s creation. Instead of sparking a dialogue around the problematic Orientalism of the time, it seems the MFA engaged in a little fetishism of its own.

In an extensive tumblr post from “Stand Against Yellow Face,” protestors elaborated on the many supremacist aspects of the work’s presentation. “What is the value of inviting the public to then dress up and participate in the very thing Monet was critiquing? Why not choose a print from the Hokusai exhibit to highlight the experience of Japanese women? Or why not provide a discussion on the historical context and criticality about the 1870’s obsession?”

Protestors who gathered in person held signs reading messages such as: “It’s not racist if you look cute & exotic in it besides the MFA supports this!”

There is no education on the garment’s origin, history, uses, or importance in Japanese society at the time,” Stand Against Yellow Face explained on Facebook. “The act of non-Japanese museum staff throwing these kimonos on visitors as a ‘costume’ event is an insult not only to our identities, experiences, and histories as Asian-Americans in America, but affects how society as a whole continues to typecast and deny our voices today … A willingness to engage thoughtfully with museum employees and visitors on the bullshit of this white supremacist ‘costume’ event are [sic] welcome.”

Stand Against Yellow Face’s tumblr memorandum also elaborates on why the choice to exhibit traditional Japanese dress in this way, even if not meant to be offensive, is damaging and hurtful. “Orientalism exoticizes (read: others, demeans and obscures) many cultures including South Asian, East Asian and Middle Eastern traditions, and resulting aggressive attitudes (both micro and macro) towards Orientalized peoples persist to this day.”

On July 7, the MFA released a statement announcing a shift in programming, where visitors will be allowed to touch with and interact with the historically accurate kimonos on display, but not try them on.

As Katie Getchell, deputy director of the museum, told the Observer, the MFA thought “Kimono Wednesdays” would be a success in part due to the popularity of similar programs in Japanese museums including the Setagaya in Tokyo, The Kyoto Municipal Museum, and The Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts, when “La Japonaise” was on loan.

In its July 7 statement, the museum apologized for offending any visitors. Despite this, protestor Aparna “Pampi” Das told the BBC that despite the MFA’s statement, protests will continue until the museum issues a formal apology and opens a panel including protestors to discuss the incident in public.

The MFA wrote in an email to the Huffington Post that the museum is not making any statements in relation to the protestor’s new demands.

Bobby Flay Cheated With January Jones, Claims Estranged Wife In Court Docs

Bobby Flay and Stephanie March’s divorce is not what you’d call amicable.

The couple split in early April after 10 years of marriage and March is challenging the prenup under which Flay is required to pay the actress $ 5,000 a month.

In Touch reports that March is challenging the prenup on the grounds that Flay allegedly cheated on her with three women, including actress January Jones.

A source familiar with the case told the magazine that the former “Law & Order: SVU” actress is claiming in court papers that the 50-year-old celebrity chef “committed adultery” with Jones several times in the in early 2010. The magazine also reports that March has accused Flay of cheating with a food stylist and his assistant.

Page Six previously reported that it’s believed the couple’s prenup had no infidelity clause, and if true, March’s claims likely would not help her cause. However, TMZ reported that the actress also filed documents claiming that it’s her “amazing palate” that is responsible for his success.

Reps for Flay and Jones have yet to respond to requests for comment.

Model Janice Dickinson Sues Bill Cosby For Defamation Over Rape Claims

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Model Janice Dickinson has sued Bill Cosby for defamation over statements by his representatives that called her claims the comedian raped her in 1982 lies.

Dickinson’s lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court seeks unspecified damages on defamation, false light and intentional infliction of emotional distress claims. The suit states Dickinson requested a retraction from Cosby about statements calling her allegations, made last year to “Entertainment Tonight,” a lie. An email sent to Cosby’s attorney Martin Singer was not immediately returned. Singer called Dickinson’s claims that Cosby raped her in a Lake Tahoe, California, hotel room in 1982 “false and outlandish” in a letter to The Associated Press last year.

Dickinson’s suit states the denials by Cosby’s camp have caused her embarrassment, humiliation and led to her being re-victimized.

Park Ranger Deryl Nelson Claims He Was Fired For Dancing On The Job

A park ranger’s love of public dancing may have sent him waltzing into the unemployment line.

Deryl Nelson, 51, worked at Coolidge Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for seven years. About a year into into the job, he drew cheers for joining a group of visitors doing the Macarena.

After that, there was no stopping him and he would boogie oogie oogie at impromptu moments.

“It’s all about enjoying what you do and that’s the way I feel,” Nelson said told WRCB TV. “[It’s] clean fun. It’s nothing like doing any bumping and grinding.”

Some say otherwise.

Work was a kick for Nelson until recently when he was booted off the job after a woman named Melissa Parsons filmed one of his dance sessions and posted it online.

The raw video of Nelson’s dance shows him at one point laying on the ground with his legs folded under his body while he seems to pump his pelvis towards the sky.

“As a parent and seeing all the parents that were covering their kids eyes and turning their heads away, it wasn’t something you would expect to see in Coolidge Park or anywhere from a grown man, especially a man in uniform,” Parsons told NewsChannel9.com. “He went all the way to the ground, he came back up from the ground, he was grabbing areas that you would see on a rated R movie.”

WATCH: Deryl Nelson The Dancing Park Ranger

When Nelson’s supervisors saw the video, they terminated him for what the city calls, “conduct unbecoming a public employee.”

Chattanooga city officials say they do not comment on personnel matters, but this isn’t Nelson’s first dance with danger.

According to city records, Nelson was suspended for crashing a car while on duty. In 2013, he was suspended for five days for “addressing inappropriate remarks to a co-worker,” according to UPI.com.

Last year, he also won an award from the police department for helping save a woman’s life at the park, MercuryNews.com reported.

News about Nelson’s termination has moved some people to their feet.

A Facebook group called Bring Back Deryl Nelson: The Dancing Park Ranger has attracted about 486 supporters, about the same number that has signed a Change.org petition addressed to the City of Chattanooga.

Nelson refuses to take the termination lying down — literally — and wants his job back.

“This is my song and nothing going to bring me down,” he said, according to TimesFreePress.com. “I love life and I love dancing!”

Jimmy Savile Sexual Abuse Scandal: 500 People Reported Incidents By Late Entertainer, Children’s Charity Claims

LONDON (AP) — A British children’s charity says at least 500 people have reported abuse by the late entertainer Jimmy Savile, with the youngest alleged victim just 2 years old.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children said Monday that the most common age group for victims was 13 to 15. Peter Watt, the charity’s director of child protection, said Savile was a “prolific sex offender … (who) lost no opportunity to identify vulnerable victims and abuse them.”

The cigar-chomping, platinum-haired Savile was a British television fixture for several decades, but after his death at 84 in 2011, witnesses and victims came forward to accuse him of sexual abuse. Police have since described the television and radio presenter as a serial sexual predator who used his fame to target young and mostly female victims, from star-struck teens at television recordings to patients in hospital beds.

A police investigation concluded last year that Savile’s abuse spanned half a century and included at least 214 offenses, most against victims under 18.

The NSPCC researched Savile’s crimes as part of a BBC documentary to be aired Monday.

It found more alleged victims than previously thought at Broadmoor psychiatric hospital. Police say they have received 16 allegations of abuse inside the institution.

Savile visited frequently as part of his charity work and was given his own set of keys to the hospital. In 1988, he was hired as an adviser to help resolve staff-management tensions at Broadmoor.
