Kim Kardashian West Defends Herself Against Mommy Shamers Over Son Saint’s Car Seat: He ‘Weighs More Than North’

Kim Kardashian West is fighting back against mommy shamers.

On Thursday, the reality star addressed some of the recent online attacks directed at her about the way she has been parenting son Saint, 20 months, and daughter North, 4, via a video on her website.

The mom of two said that one of the photos she posted on Facebook of her younger child caused a whirlwind on social media because Saint was not rear-facing in his car seat.

“What people didn’t know is that Saint is now the weight and height requirement to sit forward-facing,” Kardashian West, 36, says in the video. “Saint actually weighs more than North, if that is believable.”

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, parents are advised “to keep their toddlers in rear-facing car seats until age 2, or until they reach the maximum height and weight for their seat.” In the state of California, children under 2 must use a rear-facing seat unless they are at least 40 inches tall and weigh at least 40 lbs.

In the same video, Kardashian West also addresses claims that she has “obsessive plans to build empire.”

“I love her experiencing my life and what goes on. But I also love her having such a childhood life,” the mobile mogul tells her viewers of her daughter. “Whatever she wants to do I’ll support that. No matter what it is.”

Kardashian West admits that she does have an expensive diaper bag for Saint, though — which cashes in at a staggering $ 23,000.

The large tote is an old Birkin that she’d initially wanted “so badly” for herself, but was too big for her day-to-day, so she decided it would be “perfect” to use for Saint, she explains.

“It was my first Birkin bag that I ever bought and you would never really buy that huge size,” says Kardashian West. “But that’s all they had and I just wanted one so badly. I’d saved and saved and that’s all they had and I took it and I could never use it.”

She adds, “When I got pregnant I was like, ‘Perfect, I’ll use this as a diaper bag.’ “

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Defends Festival Set Following Acrobat’s Death: ‘We Are Not Heartless People’

Following criticism of Green Day for carrying on with their show at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid on Saturday after an acrobatic performer died, singer Billie Joe Armstrong said the band did not know of the tragedy until after their set.

Pedro Aunion Monroy, 42, was performing an aerial stunt inside a cube being suspended by a crane when he fell 100 ft. in front of thousands of people. He died from his injuries, according to the BBC.

“Many of you are wondering why we continued to play our show after the accident,” Armstrong explained in a statement obtained by PEOPLE and posted on Green Day’s website. “Green Day did not hear about the accident until after our show was over. We didn’t even know there was an acrobat performance at all.”

He continued, “These festivals are huge. There are so many things happening at the same time it’s impossible to keep up with every performer/artist.”

Armstrong said that the band was warming up at the artist compound about half a mile away from the festival stage before the show.

He shared that they were delayed about 15 minutes from going on due to what they were told was a security problem.

“Security issues are a normal occurrence and procedure at any show. We were NOT told why which is also normal. We waited as we were instructed,” Armstrong said. “Still, we had no clue there was any such accident.”

The rocker said everything seemed “normal” during the show and the fans were having a good time.

“We got off stage and drove back to our artist compound. It was there when we were told the shocking news about Pedro,” he said. “All of us were in disbelief. I don’t know why the authorities chose not to tell us about the accident before our concert. All we know is what was said after our concert.”

He continued, “This has never happened in the 30 years Green Day have been performing live. If we had known prior to our performance we most likely would not have played at all. We are not heartless people. The safety and well being at any of our concerts absolutely comes first. What happened to Pedro is unthinkable. Once again we are heartbroken for his friends and family.”

Jerry Seinfeld Defends His Decision Not To Give Kesha That Hug

Jerry Seinfeld seemed to upset a bunch of young people earlier this week when he opted out of Kesha’s request for a hug at the National Night of Laughter and Song.

“I’m Kesha. I love you so much,” she said. “Can I give you a hug?”

“No thanks,” Seinfeld repeatedly said, while backing away from the singer with an increasingly concerned look on his face.

Seinfeld found out exactly who Kesha is soon after she left. But that doesn’t mean he thinks he made the wrong call. In a conversation with Extra, he defended his decision not to give Kesha that hug.

“I was right in the middle of an interview, it was a little off.” he continued. “I don’t hug a total stranger. I have to meet someone. Say hello. I gotta start somewhere.”

“I’m sure I would’ve liked her, but I need to know who are you,” he added.

It turns out, Seinfeld and Kesha made nice off camera soon after their awkward exchange. “She was very nice about it, we laughed about it,” he said.

Still, they didn’t have a hug then either.

Manchester By the Sea Director Defends Casey Affleck After Student Journalist Slams the Actor

The Oscar-winning writer/director of Manchester By the Sea is slamming a student journalist from his alma mater for writing an opinion piece highlighting the sexual harassment allegations against the film’s star, Casey Affleck.

Kenneth Lonergan condemned the article in a letter to the editor of The Wesleyan Argus, in which he accused the sophomore journalism student of writing a “tangle of illogic, misinformation, and flat-out slander” against Affleck, who recently won an Oscar for his performance in the film.

Last week, in a piece titled “How Wesleyan Is Complicit in Affleck’s Sexual Misconducted by Endorsing Lonergan ’84,” assistant opinion editor Connor Aberle criticized the college for its “praise” of Lonergan, and called Affleck’s Best Actor win “severely problematic.”

“Wesleyan University cannot insist on claiming credit for Kenneth Lonergan unless they also acknowledge their complicity in the success of a perpetrator of sexual violence,” Aberle wrote. “Lonergan essentially won Affleck his Oscar by handpicking Affleck for his movie.”

Aberle’s comments refer to the two sexual-harassment lawsuits that were filed against Affleck in 2010 by two women who worked with him on the film I’m Still Here. Affleck has denied the allegations, and settled the suits out of court for undisclosed amounts. In the settlement, the actor did not admit any guilt, and he and his accusers are barred from discussing details of the case.

Lonergan responded to Aberle’s article with an opinion piece of his own, titled, “How Connor Aberle and The Argus are Complicit in Slandering Casey Affleck.” The director slammed Aberle’s writing as slander, writing, “Only the author’s presumed youth can possibly excuse his deeply offensive display of ignorance, and warped PC-fueled sense of indignation.”

RELATED: Casey Affleck Responds to Criticism Following Controversial Oscar Win

He added, “He writes as if Casey Affleck were actually guilty of a crime. In fact, it was alleged 7 years ago, in a civil lawsuit for breach of contract, that Casey sexually harassed two women formerly in his employ. Casey denounced the allegations as being totally fabricated. Like most civil suits, this one was settled out of court by mutual consent on undisclosed terms … In other words nothing was proved or disproved. So how does Mr Aberle dare to write as if he knows who was telling the truth and who was not?”

After Affleck won the Oscar, many took to social media to criticize the decision. In a recent interview with the Boston Globe, Affleck — the younger brother of Ben Affleck — addressed the criticism, saying, “There’s really nothing I can do about it. Other than live my life the way I know I live it and speak to what my own values are and how I try to live by them all the time.”

Affleck told the Globe that he is not permitted to speak about the now-settled lawsuits, and said that the people condemning him on social media don’t know the facts of the situation. “I believe that any kind of mistreatment of anyone for any reason is unacceptable and abhorrent,” he added. “Everyone deserves to be treated with respect in the workplace and anywhere else.”

Kylie Jenner Defends Caitlyn Jenner After Chris Brown Posts Transphobic Instagram

While many celebrities have been vocal in their support of Caitlyn Jenner following her debut on Vanity Fair’s July cover, unfortunately, some have not. And Jenner’s daughter Kylie Jenner is not going to take the insults lying down.

After Chris Brown reposted a transphobic meme that referred to Caitlyn Jenner on his Instagram account Friday, the 17-year-old “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star reportedly commented on the post, writing, “Not very nice to say about your friends dad.” Brown’s post has since been deleted, but Kylie Jenner’s tweet Friday seemingly alludes to the incident:

Kylie Jenner and Chris Brown have been spotted hanging out together on various occasions. Jenner has shared photos of herself with Brown on her Instagram account, and the Jenner sisters participated in a charity kickball game with the “Forever” singer in July 2014.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Jenner and Brown’s reps for comment and will update this post if one comes through.

Patrick Stewart Defends Northern Irish Bakery That Rejected ‘Support Gay Marriage’ Cake

“Star Trek” icon Patrick Stewart has come to the defense of Northern Ireland’s Ashers Bakery, which was found guilty of discrimination last month after refusing to prepare a cake decorated with a same-sex marriage slogan.

The case made headlines in 2014 after Belfast-based activist Gareth Lee requested a cake featuring “Sesame Street” characters, along with the message, “Support Gay Marriage.” Although the bakery’s owners initially accepted the order, they called two days later to cancel it, citing their religious beliefs.

In response, Stewart called the Ashers case “a deliciously difficult” subject in an interview with BBC’s Newsnight, adding that he “found himself on the side of the bakers” because nobody should be forced to write politically-relevant text that they didn’t support.

“It was not because it was a gay couple that they objected. It was not because they were celebrating some sort of marriage or an agreement between them,” Stewart is quoted as saying. “It was the actual words on the cake that they objected to, because they found them offensive.”

He went on to note, “I would support their rights to say, ‘No, this is personally offensive to my beliefs, I will not do it.'”

The remarks may come as a surprise to some fans of Stewart, who has previously spoken out in defense of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In January, the actor said his background in theater made him a natural LGBT advocate.

“I think this is where the theater is such an appealing world, because it embraces everything and always has. So there was never a moment where I made an intellectual choice that I would be a supporter of gay civil rights,” he said at the time. “It was always a natural and uncomplicated choice.”

Television Mogul Byron Allen Defends ‘Blackface’ Obama Comment

It appears television mogul and host of “Comics Unleashed” Byron Allen is standing by previous comments he made referring to President Barack Obama as a “white president in blackface.”

Earlier this week, Allen spoke to a TMZ cameraperson about his disappointment over the words the president chose in discussing last month’s violent tensions in Baltimore, referring to some of those rioting as “thugs” during an April 28 press conference.

Yesterday, Allen followed up on his comments during an appearance on “TMZ Live,” elaborating on his frustrations with the Obama administration.

“What we’re witnessing is a national crisis,” he said. “When you see young black men on the streets rioting it’s because of the two Americas. And by the way, in a lot of black cities unemployment amongst black men is 50 percent.”

According to the most recent figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the jobless rate for African-American males over 20 years old is 9.2 percent — nearly twice the rate of unemployment among white men in the same age group. An October 2014 report in Al Jazeera notes high incarceration rates, lack of training, and discrimination as some of the contributing factors for the gap.

After launching his comedy career as a staff writer alongside Jay Leno and David Letterman and becoming the youngest standup comedian to appear on “The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson,” Allen founded Entertainment Studios in 1993. Entertainment Studios is now a global media production and distribution company with eight HD networks.

In his TMZ interview, the Detroit-native and television veteran claimed his public criticism towards the president stems from a previous in-person encounter during a dinner when he personally invited the president to have a meeting about his concerns over racist comments made by former AT&T president Aaron Slator, and the broader problem of race and racism in corporate settings.

Despite his invitation, Allen has yet to hear a response from POTUS.

“As the President of the United States if you’re going to call those kids in Baltimore ‘thugs’ why don’t you talk to the chairman of AT&T who’s calling us the n-word, covering it up for two years, and say ‘you need to sit down and talk to Knoyme King and Byron Allen and resolve these issues,’” he said. “You can’t be the biggest telecommunications company in the world calling us the n-word. You’re the president, but you’re also black man.”

Prior to Slator’s April termination from AT&T, the former advertising and sales executive was the subject of a $ 100 million discrimination lawsuit after a 50-year-old African-American woman and employee, Knoyme King, accused him of subjecting her to discriminatory behavior and using his work phone to send racially offensive images, according to reports.

As for a resolution to Allen’s concerns, he went on record during his “TMZ Live” appearance to state that he’s not mad at President Obama and is still open to sitting down with him for a conversation on the topic.

Allen did not immediately respond to a HuffPost request for comment.

Check out more of Byron Allen’s comments in the clip above.
