First Lady Melania Trump Delivers Anti-Vaping Remarks Wearing Prada

In helping to kick off the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Red Ribbon Rally, First Lady Melania Trump called for the end of marketing e-cigarettes and vaping to minors.
During her remarks this morning in Washington, D.C., FLOTUS said, “We need to continue encouraging teenagers and young adults that have fallen into drug addiction to be brave enough to admit it, to talk about it and to get help. This also includes addiction associated with e-cigarettes and vaping. It is important to me that we all work to educate children and families about the dangers associated with this habit. Marketing this addictive product to children must stop,” according to a transcript of her remarks.
Wearing a black sleeveless Prada dress, Trump was the first first lady to visit DEA’s headquarters. Monday’s message may have been about anti-drugs, but her attire hinted at sustainability. FLOTUS wore the same all-business sheath for a Sept. 23 visit to the New York Stock Exchange to ring the opening bell with students from the United Nations International School. A pool report noted that the first lady did not wear a red ribbon today and that an East Wing staffer said FLOTUS had not received one in advance of the

House of X Delivers an X-Men: The Animated Series Callback

As much as House of X and Powers of X have done to reshape the X-Men and their place in the Marvel Universe, neither series has spent a great deal of time exploring the present-day status quo for mutantkind. In fact, you have to go all the way back to the beginning in House of X #1 to find an issue completely set in the present.

House of X #3 finally returns to that approach, showcasing a desperate mission to prevent the X-Men’s greatest enemy from being born. In many ways, this is the most traditional X-Men comic we’ve yet seen from writer Jonathan Hickman, but one loaded with huge stakes and human drama.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Delivers Charm — and a Green Focus

COPENHAGEN — The appeal of the Copenhagen fashion girl, often found riding a colorful bicycle and sporting pearl-encrusted hair clips, is here to stay.
Apart from charming the world with their flair for candy colors, cozy decorating and quirky accessories, the Danes mean business: Pioneers in the contemporary category, they’re experts at offering trendy, fuss-free pieces at what they refer to as “honest price points.” Now, they are ready to shift up a gear.
Everyone from Ganni, Copenhagen’s breakout label, to newcomers such as the outerwear brand Stand and Instagram hit Rotate are in the process of expanding their retail footprints across Europe and the U.S. Some are broadening their ranges to include accessories.
They want to do it all with a conscience.
Sustainability in Denmark is less marketing ploy and more a way of life, so when Copenhagen Fashion Week’s newly appointed chief executive officer Cecilie Thorsmark laid out her ambitious plan of turning the three-day showcase into the most sustainable international fashion week, she found that local and international brands were quick to align with her mission.
British label Mother of Pearl opened Copenhagen Fashion Week, which ran from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1, with an intimate presentation of its seasonless, sustainably made

Baby on Board! Turkish Airlines Cabin Crew Delivers Baby Girl Mid-Flight

Turkish Airlines welcomed an unexpected passenger in the middle of a flight from Guinea’s capital of Conakry to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Cabin crew on the airplane sprang into action on Friday when Nafi Diaby, a woman who was 28-weeks pregnant, went into labor during the flight, according to NBC News.

They were able to successfully deliver the baby girl, who was named Kadiju, as the mother laid across a row of seats.

The airline shared the happy news on Twitter Friday, showing pictures of the flight attendants posing with the baby wrapped in a grey blanket.

“Welcome on board Princess!” Turkish Airlines captioned a collage of photo on Twitter, including a graphic of a plane acting as a stork to deliver a baby girl. “Applause goes to our cabin crew!”

“The lady was in great pain,” cabin attendant Bouthayna Inanir said, according to the Hurriyet Daily News. “And then the baby was on the seat. This was the hardest part. I had to grab the baby. I took her and give her to the mother.”

The mother and newborn were in good health but taken to hospital to be kept under observation when the Boeing 737 landed in the West African nation on Friday, according to NBC News.

Turkish Airlines states on their website that women in their 28th week of pregnancy or later require a note from a doctor stating they are safe to fly and confirming the expected date of birth. The airline doesn’t allow women to fly if they are 36 weeks pregnant or more.

‘Matangi’ Review: M.I.A.’s Fourth Album Delivers

— M.I.A, “Matangi” (Interscope)

Named after a ghetto Hindu goddess, M.I.A.’s fourth proper album pops with a relentless pounce and is filled with all the paradoxical imagery that the intro’s title “Karmageddon” conjures. On the call-to-arms title track she breaks it down as a tsunami of percussion mounts: “It’s so simple/Get to the floor.” Then sets it off simply by rhyming different places — “Gambia/Namibia/Bali/Mali/Chile/Malawi” — in her inimitable cadence.

But it’s never simple with M.I.A. because in her words she’s “Got a reputation/People see me as trouble.” She plays vocal acrobat on “Bring The Noize,” tabbing herself the “female Slick Rick” and unleashing spitfire bars like “Do you like my perfumes?/I made it at home with some gasoline and shrooms.” Her playful side rhymes “giddy up” with “light the city up” and boards Boeings eating bananas. On “atTENTion” she flips the syllable “tent” 50 different ways.

Production by Switch, Hit-Boy, Danja and The Partysquad is just as enigmatic. Take “Double Bubble Trouble” where a trap intro gives way to a Rastafari sway before hitting up the dancehall and riding out on a beat Omar Souleyman might floss over. On other tracks, The Weeknd samples, intermittent “ohmmms” and slinking woofers flit through stutter-step rhythms and furrowed bass. Picture fire alarms going off in Trinidadian clubs.

Songs like “Lights” and “Come Walk With Me” are nice encapsulations of the record’s split personality: part pop gold, part way out there. Even when M.I.A.’s feeling frisky it’s nowhere near a quiet storm. She’s either wondering “How come all this drama’s still trending?” or making “love like origami,” as guards set up outside.

At one point she mandates: “If you’re gonna be me you need a manifesto.” Based on the shrill stance here, hers might go something like this “Karmageddon line: “My words are my armor and you’re about to meet your karma.”
