Star Wars: BB-8 Dishes on Meeting Prince William and Harry at The Last Jedi Premiere

BB-8 is spilling it all!

The beloved droid stopped by PEOPLE Now to dish on everything Star Wars: The Last Jedi. (Disclaimer: The PEOPLE staff does not speak fluent droid and is likely making this all up.)

BB-8 said (beeped?) he loved getting the chance to meet Prince William and Harry on the red carpet at the London premiere of the film and that he does not get along with his evil counterpart BB-9E.

As for the best piece of advice fellow robot R2-D2 gave him?

“Don’t get blown up,” said the droid.

And staying true to the holiday season, BB-8 said if he had a lightsaber, it would almost certainly be red and green.

For his thoughts on porgs and to hear even more behind-the-scenes secrets from The Last Jedi, watch the above video.

Watch our full Star Wars: The Last Jedi special, streaming now on PeopleTV! Download the PeopleTV app on your favorite device or go to PEOPLE.com/peopletv.

In PEOPLE’s new special issue Star Wars: The Ultimate Guide to The Last Jedi (on newsstands now) and an exclusive PeopleTV special, BB-8 puppeteers Brian Herring and Dave Chapman open up about what fans can expect from the rolling droid in the upcoming film.

“He’s still a member of the heroes gang,” says Chapman. “He’s in there getting dirty and down with it.”

While Herring and Chapman promise fans that BB-8 will once again serve as a “comic relief” in the film, they say his role in the story is more important than ever.

“He’s a pivotal point, as the droids of Star Wars tends to be,” says Herring. “He also does a lot of stuff that we haven’t seen him do yet.”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters Dec. 15.

Miley Cyrus Dishes on Musical Inspirations—from Father Billy Ray to Elvis Presley—at Album Release Party

Not that anyone’s keeping track, but it’s safe to say this was the first album release party that began with a guest appearance by a puppet.

And that was just Act I of Miley Cyrus’ three-act extravaganza, thrown for about 150 super-fans who packed into the third floor of Nashville’s most iconic downtown honky-tonk, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, on Friday night to celebrate the release of Younger Now.

The new album is a declaration by the 24-year-old artist, who’s spent the past decade successively reinventing herself, that she’s now embracing all her former selves (yes, including those Hannah Montana years) – and Cyrus put an exclamation point on it by throwing her release party back in her countrified hometown.

Her embrace also explains the puppet, a tiny ginghamed girl doll that debuted in the video for the “Younger Now” single.

“Look at Baby Miley’s dress!” Cyrus, 24, exclaimed as she popped up in the puppet’s elaborate theater set. “This is a dress that I used to wear when I was a little girl!”

The puppet was there, she explained, to “represent that the same person that’s standing here right now is the same person that’s here beside me, which is Baby Miley, which is always inside me.”

As her tiny alter-ego watched adoringly, Cyrus took questions from the crowd so “fans could understand how I made the album, why I made the album and why it’s so important to me.”

Her main impulse, she explained, was to no longer run away from her “life story.” She also pointed to her father, country artist Billy Ray Cyrus, as a primary influence in her new music, which has a strong country-pop vein.

“My dad,” she said, “really inspired this record a lot, I think, going back into those roots of everything he instilled in me.”

Sure enough, to emphasize her point, she brought out Billy Ray for the evening’s Act II, a segment she entitled “My Dad Always Says.” The elder Cyrus’ task: to offer counsel to the audience “because,” according to Miley, “he’s always given me the best advice ever.”

Billy Ray obliged by sharing that he always tells his daughter, “Watch what I do, and don’t do that, and you’ll usually get through life pretty good. … Does that make sense?”

“Yeah,” Miley countered. “Don’t grow a mullet, basically.”

“Hell, grow the damn mullet,” Billy Ray parried in defense of his trademark 1990s-era hairstyle. “Hell, yeah, man.”

Act III was a 45-minute set of nine songs, including four from the new album. Cyrus also brought her father back on stage for a rowdy duet of his signature hit, “Achy Breaky Heart,” and she covered Nancy Sinatra’s sassy “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” which her dad has included in his own act.

Every song was a crowd-pleaser for the Miley-philes gathered – some of whom had flown in from as far away as Miami and Detroit for the event – but a selection of early hits drew the most deafening cheers. These included “See You Again,” the 2007 debut single from the Hannah Montana days, a song Cyrus tearfully introduced as she recalled her family’s move to California so she “could live my dreams.”

The singer made sure to point out that her childhood best friend, Lesley Patterson, whom she mentioned in the lyrics, was in the audience – which “also makes me cry,” said Cyrus.

Throughout the evening, Cyrus also scattered tidbits about her new music and stories behind the songs. “Miss You So Much,” she said, was “the hardest song to finish” since it dealt with the shocking overdose death of a friend’s boyfriend.

“Rainbowland,” Cyrus’ collaboration with her “fairy godmother,” Dolly Parton, was “the craziest writing experience” of her life, she said, because Parton relied on a fax machine to communicate. “She did write it on a typewriter,” Cyrus revealed.

The inspiration for “Week Without You” was not fiancé Liam Hemsworth – which has been speculated – but, in fact, Cyrus’ “first true love”: Elvis Presley. She wrote it, she explained, to “kind of sound like a song out of his Blue Hawaii” – her favorite Presley movie because his love interest shares her name.

Cyrus wouldn’t identify the muse behind “She’s Not Him,” though most assume it’s based on her brief liaison with model Stella Maxwell. Instead, Cyrus said, she wrote the song “to actually normalize bisexuality” because “I don’t think there’s any songs, any films, any music – anything – that makes bisexuality feel normal for us.”

Hemsworth’s name was also something she avoided mentioning during the entire event, though she did hint that her lyrics have allowed her to let “people into, like, my private journal … of how I really, really feel and … the love that I feel in my life for the things that I feel in my life.”

That includes “Malibu,” of course, which she described as her love song to her beach home, even though the lyrics are obviously directed toward a romantic partner. Cyrus also noted the irony of the song’s title just when she’s decided to “move back to Nashville.” (She recently purchased a 33-acre farm in nearby Franklin.)

Her passion for her hometown, she said, is also the reason she’s staying off the road for the time being. “I would love to go on tour, but right now I am back in Nashville,” she explained to clearly disappointed fans. “I’ve just really been enjoying being home and being with my animals.”

“I want to be in Nashville,” she added, though she said she wouldn’t rule out a “local tour” – a comment that filled the room with raucous cheers.

Charlie DePew Dishes On ‘Famous In Love’ And Bella Thorne

Freeform’s “Famous In Love” was everyone’s guilty pleasure TV series this spring. The show featured rising star Charlie DePew who played Jake Salt, an aspiring screenwriter who’s best friends with Bella Thorne’s character. We chatted with DePew about the series’ dramatic twists and turns, his love of social media and the actor that’s inspired his career.

A post shared by Charlie DePew (@charliedepew) on

What’s the best part about being in “Famous in Love”?

The juicy drama. In a teen drama like this, it’s a little more soapy. Usually in TV you don’t get drama that’s this exaggerated. There’s a lot of conflict that wouldn’t happen in a usual storyline and I kind of like that. There’s all these plot twists and turns. Another reason why I like it so much is I’m a mega-fan of “Entourage,” so I really like playing the teen girl version of that.

What do you and your character Jake Salt have in common? What makes you different?

Well, Jake is very ambitious and motivated, and I would say I’m the same. I think Jake is a little more straight-edge than I am. I like to have a lot of fun and go to music festivals and that kind of thing, which I don’t think Jake would ever do. He’s a little too much of a nice boy and he’s also a little more earnest. I’m much more of an assertive person. If I like something or don’t like something, I’m usually more open about it. But Jake and I definitely do share traits as far as ambition and motivation goes. And we’re both screenwriters. I got almost halfway through a degree in screenwriting at USC, and I still am a writer. I still have a few scripts, but I don’t write with the passion and tenacity that I used to.

You and Bella Thorne have undeniable chemistry. What’s it like working with her?

We knew each other before “Famous in Love,” but we weren’t close. We would just see each other at birthdays. And then when I got cast in “Famous in Love,” we got closer. I have this straight-edge front, but then you take me to a festival and I’m the first one to be dancing in the mosh pit. I think she just liked that I let loose. We just kind of hit it off. We’re pretty close now.

A post shared by Charlie DePew (@charliedepew) on

“Famous in Love” seems like a really fun group of people to work with. Are you and the cast friends off-set?

It’s literally the perfect crew. I love everyone. They’re all amazing. They all have their own little thing that makes them awesome. We were all basically thrown in a room together and told to be friends. Luckily, with us, it worked.

What’s one of the biggest challenges you faced while filming “Famous In Love”?

I actually started a business two and a half years ago with a couple buddies called Respark, we do digital and social media marketing for companies. We basically own and manage a bunch of themed Instagram accounts that have over 150 million followers. We were in the middle of making an app right when we went to production. So I was thrown into this, and I still had to work and I was running double time to make sure everything got done. That was not easy, and managing expectations on both fronts was a challenge for sure.

Since Respark is all about managing massive Instagram pages, what’s one tip you have for anyone trying to build an Instagram following?

Themed accounts are a lot easier. You can just do shoutouts. You get bigger players to shout your page out and you shout them out, and then eventually you get 100 thousand followers. It’s a long process, but it works. For personal accounts, it’s just content. The more content you have, the better. Posting three times a day, your friends may hate it, but that will land you on the Explore page at some point. Keep your page consistent and make the content interesting and fun.

I. Marlene King produces “Famous In Love” and also “Pretty Little Liars.” What’s she like?

She’s legendary. She just knows what she’s doing all the time. She knows exactly what needs to be done and she gets it done. And that’s the mark of a legend, in my opinion. I just like her ideas for making the characters’ choices unpredictable. It’s one of her best traits when it comes to writing.

A post shared by Charlie DePew (@charliedepew) on

Let’s talk about your upcoming movie “The Bachelors.” This is totally different from your TV show. What can fans expect to see?

They can expect a completely different Charlie. The role I have in that is polar opposite of Jake. It was really fun to play, but he’s a complete d**k in the movie. I play the bully character to the lead kid. There’s a scene in the cafeteria where we get into this brawl and it’s so well-shot. It’s very cool.

What was it like working with Oscar winner J.K. Simmons on “The Bachelors?”

I’m pretty honest when people ask me about actors and how they are. He’s a nice person. He’s just quiet. He’s very focused and into his work. He was amazing though. He pulls it out of thin air and at a moment’s notice he’s crying or knocking his head against the wall. He’s really good.

Who’s an actor that inspires your career?

Heath Ledger, for sure. I think one of the huge things that propelled me to act is I was really quick with impressions. Ever since I was a kid, I could get an accent down or get somebody’s voice down. Right after “The Dark Knight” came out, within a day or two I had The Joker impression pretty much locked down. I’d do it at school and my friends thought it was the coolest thing ever. From there I ended up going out for the sixth grade play.

What’s one piece of advice you wish you could have given yourself when you first started your acting career?

Just prepare more. Early on, I wasn’t always prepared going into auditions, but every single one is an opportunity so you have to make sure you do your best for each one.

If you could guest star on any TV show right now, what would it be?

“Game of Thrones.”

What are you most proud of having worked on so far?

My company, Respark.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

At this very moment I want to go to Hawaii. I’ve never been!

If you could have dinner with any three celebrities, dead or alive, who would they be?

Leonardo da Vinci, Nikola Tesla and Michael Faraday.

Rosie O’Donnell Dishes On New ‘View’ Crew, First Meeting With Nicolle Wallace

Despite having some political differences with one of her co-hosts, Rosie O’Donnell says things have been going smoothly over at ABC News’ “The View.”

During an interview with David Letterman Thursday night, O’Donnell ran down the list of the show’s new panelists. Things got a little tense, however, when she reached former George W. Bush communications director Nicolle Wallace, who joined “The View” as a co-host back in September. O’Donnell — who leans left politically — detailed the pair’s somewhat awkward first encounter in which she grilled Wallace about Bush’s decision to fly over Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

“I asked her the first day if it was her idea to do the fly over Katrina, and I don’t know if that was the best way to open conversation with her,” O’Donnell said to laughter from the crowd. “Luckily she was on her wedding and she had nothing to do with that, so we actually get along very well.”

Letterman pressed further though, wanting to know the “high moments” of Wallace’s tenure with the Bush administration, and O’Donnell snuck in a couple light jabs.

“I think there were some interesting moments with, well, maybe illegal wars. There was that,” she said. “Last week there was a big torture debate we had. I don’t know, maybe it’s me, I’m against torture on the whole. Just across the board.”

Whitney Port Dishes On Wedding Planning And Her Fiancé

2013-12-06-avatar.png
Lover.ly — search, save, shop and share wedding ideas in one place.

It’s going to be a “bohemian desert” wedding for Whitney Port!

The designer and star of MTV’s “The City” got engaged to Tim Rosenman, who was an associate producer on her show, in November 2013 and kicked off her wedding planning in Los Angeles recently with a bridal luncheon hosted by Wedding Paper Divas. Port announced that she’ll be collaborating with the stationery brand on an invitation suite, due out later this year. In attendance at the luncheon were Port and Rosenman, along with Port’s sister, Ashley, co-founder of BK Events, who is planning Port and Rosenman’s wedding.

Wedding Paper Divas Presents "Whitney Port's Love Story"

I had a chance to sit down with Port and get the inside scoop on her relationship and all things wedding.

Stephanie Hallett
: How would you describe your fiancé in three words?

Whitney Port: Comfortable, patient, and funny.

Wedding Paper Divas Presents "Whitney Port's Love Story"

SH: What’s the sweetest thing he has ever done for you?

WP: I feel like he does sweet things for me every day. My father passed away this past year and just the way that [Tim] has been there for me and been patient with me has probably been the most special thing to me.

SH: What’s one thing that no one knows about your relationship?

WP: We’re really, really low key, we’re homebodies, we don’t really like to do much. Our favorite nights are the nights when we don’t really have any plans and we can just cook each other dinner and hang out.

SH: Are you keeping your name after marriage?

WP: I’m going to keep Port and add Rosenman.

SH: How’s wedding planning going?

WP: It’s going well! The first couple months of being engaged were really just enjoying that and not thinking too much about it. Once the new year hit I was like, OK, I want to start [planning]. We’re 95 percent sure on a location and other than that there’s not much else that I’ve planned. I have my secret Pinterest board where you can see my inspiration, but I haven’t gone too far into anything else.

Wedding Paper Divas Presents "Whitney Port's Love Story"

SH: I read that you’re designing your own wedding dress.

WP: I’m hoping to! I feel like I want the experience of trying on dresses and seeing what works for me, and I feel like that’s such the classic, typical, fun moment when everyone sees you in your gown. But I’m so particular, and obviously I design clothes for a living, so I feel like it would be a fun process for me to design exactly what I know works well on me. So I’m hoping to do that unless for some reason I find a dress that I love.

SH: Do you have a style or something in mind that you know you like?

WP: I know for me comfort is key; at my wedding I want to have fun, I want to dance, I want to not feel like my dress is restricting me from anything, so something definitely more streamlined.

SH: What’s your best advice for brides who are stressed out by wedding planning?

WP: I think at the end of the day they just have to remember what they’re doing this for. There’s obviously a huge light at the end of the tunnel and they’ve just got to get their priorities in order.

Top 100 Pasta Dishes:

Bestselling author and children’s nutrition expert Annabel Karmel gives parents the ultimate guide to making the favorite food of fussy eaters even more delicious. Children everywhere, even the pickiest eaters, love pasta. And there’s no one more qualified to lead parents through the creation of fun and healthy macaroni meals than Annabel Karmel in Top 100 Pasta Dishes, her latest collection of easy, breezy family-friendly recipes. Like the Super Nanny, Annabel has taken American moms and dads by storm, bringing her British can-do parenting spirit to the United States with a line of equipment for making fresh baby foods at Babies ’R Us, television appearances, and, of course, her popular cookbooks. In Top 100 Pasta Dishes, Annabel offers creative and exciting new options for dressing up drab old noodles, and each recipe packs in extra nutrition with every spoonful. She provides a bite-sized section just for babies, showing how pasta can be an excellent way of introducing texture to new palates; another for super-picky toddlers; and more for bigger kids. But the recipes in this collection aren’t just for kids—grown-ups will love them, too. With Annabel’s use of meat, beans, fish, and vegetables, there’s no need to cook separately for the bigs and the littles–everyone can enjoy the same family meal together. Tasty, nutritious, quick, and economical, the recipes in Top 100 Pasta Dishes will make the perfect addition to any family’s mealtime rotation.
