The Claws Are Out: Animal Lovers React to Donald Trump Reportedly Calling Pets ‘Low Class’

There is plenty going on in our world today, but one bit of news has pet owners growling and hissing.

As Twitter user @caraallieray puts it, “There’s a lot happening, but I keep obsessing on how Trump said owning pets is ‘low class.’ ”

This shocking comment is pulled from a recent article in The Atlantic, regarding Vice President Mike Pence.

In the piece, an adviser tells The Atlantic that President Trump reportedly thinks pets are “low class” and was “embarrassed” when Pence announced in January that he and his family would be moving into the Naval Observatory with their pets — which included, at the time, two cats, a rabbit, and a snake.

“Trump ridiculed the menagerie to his secretary, according to a longtime adviser. ‘He was embarrassed by it; he thought it was so low class,’ says the adviser. ‘He thinks the Pences are yokels,’ ” reads the segment, offending animal lovers across the Internet.

While the article, titled “God’s Plan for Mike Pence,” contains over 1,500 words, the aforementioned three sentences are causing the biggest stir, especially on Twitter, where pet owners are sounding off about the president’s reported feelings on furry friends.

Clearly, cat people and dog people have put their differences aside and crossed the aisle to speak out about their shared outrage.

President Trump is the first American president in 150 years not to have a pet of his own at the White House, according to The Hill. This is a big change from former President Barack Obama, who shared the Oval Office with two bounding balls of fluff, Portuguese Water Hounds Bo and Sunny.

Trump’s alleged dislike for animals hasn’t stopped Pence from expanding his pet family. After one of the vice president’s cats died in June, he and his family adopted both a puppy and a kitten.

Marco Rubio Mocks Donald Trump for His ‘Similar’ Awkward Water Bottle Moment as Twitter Goes Wild

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Back in 2013, then-businessman Donald Trump ridiculed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for sipping water during his response to the State of the Union.

“Next time Marco Rubio should drink his water from a glass as opposed to a bottle — would have much less negative impact,” Trump tweeted at the time. He also revived the criticism on the campaign trail last year in an attempt to undermine his then-rival for the GOP presidential nomination.

Now, the tables have turned.

In an awkward moment on Wednesday, Trump paused in the middle of a live speech at the White House to search for a drink of water.

After checking under his lectern and coming up empty-handed, Trump was directed to a small table nearby stocked with Fiji water bottles. He then picked up a bottle with both hands and took a sip — a gesture that quickly captured the internet’s attention.

To the delight of many, Rubio himself was one of the first to poke fun of the moment on Twitter.

“Similar, but needs work on his form,” Rubio critiqued in a tweet. “Has to be done in one single motion & eyes should never leave the camera. But not bad for his 1st time.”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Even some Rubio critics had to admit it was a “nice burn.”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

CNN’s Chris Cillizza and others also mocked Trump on Twitter.

The ridicule even briefly spilled over, so to speak, to Wikipedia, where someone revised the Fiji Water page to say: “Fiji water is the official thirst quencher of Donald Trump.”

The line was soon removed, however, apparently by a Wikipedia editor.

Donald Trump in a Dog’s Ear Is the New Jesus in a Piece of Toast

Halloween has come and gone, but if you thought that pets who look like President Donald Trump would be off the radar until next October, well, you’d be wrong.

We’re not sure who this dog is, nor whom he belongs to, but the resemblance between its ear and the president is uncanny and continues to go viral — on Twitter, of course.

If you’re wondering why we’re reporting on this oddly “presidential” picture, the situation actually isn’t unprecedented: Back in February, an image of a dog in a piece of wood was all the rage on Twitter.

London Mayor Says U.K. Should Not ‘Roll Out Red Carpet’ for Donald Trump on State Visit

When – and if – President Donald Trump‘s state visit to the U.K. happens, don’t expect much fanfare from London Mayor Sadiq Kahn.

Kahn, who has gone head-to-head with the president before, told CNN in a new interview, “State visits are different from a normal visit, and at a time when the President of the U.S.A. has policies that many in our country disagree with, I am not sure it is appropriate for our government to roll out the red carpet.”

In January, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May conveyed to Trump an invitation from Queen Elizabeth to visit Britain, which he accepted.

Shortly after, however, an online petition calling a potential Trump visit an “embarrassment” to the host nation garnered more than 1.8 million signatures. Last month, the Queen didn’t mention Trump’s planned trip to the U.K. during her speech at the opening of Parliament.

At the time, Trump administration and Downing Street officials respectively denied that the trip had been canceled, saying instead that an exact date had just not yet been scheduled.

Last week, however, the White House confirmed that Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom had been delayed until 2018. They gave no reason for the postponement.

A source recently told U.K. outlet The Sun that Trump was concerned about the reception he’d receive, and allegedly asked Prime Minister Theresa May to ensure her countrymen and women were cordial.

President Trump and Khan have clashed in recent months, with the president lashing out at Khan just hours after the London Bridge terror attack in June: “We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people. If we don’t get smart it will only get worse,” Trump tweeted at the time.

RELATED VIDEO: London’s Mayor Suggests Canceling President Trump’s State Visit After His Criticisms on Twitter

He added, “At least seven dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed’ !”

Trump was responding to an interview Khan did with the BBC regarding the police action being taken after the attack, during which he said, “Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. There’s no reason to be alarmed.”

In response, Khan’s aide said in a statement that the mayor had “more important things to do” than comment on Trump’s tweets. Trump, however, doubled down on his insult, writing on social media, “Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement.”

RELATED VIDEO: Exclusive: Natasha Stoynoff Speaks Out: ‘I Don’t Want Women to Feel Afraid’

Further speaking about Trump to CNN this week, Khan also said, “If you somehow think it is not possible to be a Muslim and a proud westerner I am happy to disabuse you of that idea, whether you are a reporter for CNN or Donald Trump.”

The Queen traditionally issues an invite for a state visit to the sitting U.S. president once during their four or eight-year term. She has met with every American president since she assumed the throne in 1952 — except for Lyndon B. Johnson.

While presidents sometimes make multiple visits to the U.K. for official state business, a state visit hosted by the Queen usually includes a stay at Windsor Castle and a dinner attended by members of the royal family.

SHOPPING DEALS UPDATE:

‘Julius Caesar’ Star Considered The Play To Be Donald Trump ‘Resistance’

The New York Public Theater’s presentation of William Shakespeare’s 400-year-old play, “Julius Caesar” was embroiled in controversy this month, with protests over a choice to costume the titular character as President Donald Trump. This wardrobe decision was controversial because senators plot to stab Caesar to death in the play.

Now that this run of “Julius Caesar” has come to an end, actor Corey Stoll has written a piece for Vulture about what it was like to star in the play. Stoll had the role of Marcus Brutus, a reluctant assassin of Caesar.

Although the play is explicitly about the pitfalls of assassination, Stoll wrote that following through with the play amid the protest eventually felt like a contribution to the “resistance.” These days, that term is loaded to evoke the phrase ”#resist” which refers to a rallying cry against Trump.

“The protesters never shut us down, but we had to fight each night to make sure they did not distort the story we were telling,” wrote Stoll in the piece that was published Friday. “At that moment, watching my castmates hold their performances together, it occurred to me that this is resistance.”

Watch video of two protestors disrupting a performance:

Stoll, who memorably played an eventually murdered politician in the first season of “House of Cards,” said that he had no idea this production would portray Trump so explicitly before signing on to the role.

After four weeks in the rehearsal room, we moved to the theater and I saw Caesar’s Trump-like costume and wig for the first time. I was disappointed by the literal design choice.
Corey Stoll

Stoll was frustrated by the choice at first, as he feared involving Trump would overshadow the rest of the performance.

A passage from Stoll’s piece:

When I signed on to play the reluctant assassin Marcus Brutus in this production, I didn’t know Caesar would be an explicit avatar for President Trump. I suspected that an American audience in 2017 might see aspects of him in the character, a democratically elected leader with autocratic tendencies. I did not think anyone would see it as an endorsement of violence against him. The play makes it clear that Caesar’s murder, which occurs midway through the play, is ruinous for Brutus and his co-conspirators, and for democracy itself …

After four weeks in the rehearsal room, we moved to the theater and I saw Caesar’s Trump-like costume and wig for the first time. I was disappointed by the literal design choice. I had little fear of offending people, but I worried that the nuanced character work we had done in the rehearsal room would get lost in what could seem like a “Saturday Night Live” skit. I was right and wrong.

After the president’s eldest child, Donald Trump Jr., blamed this production for the actions of the gunman who fired on a baseball team made up of Republican congressmen, Stoll began to fear for his own life.

“Like most Americans, I was saddened and horrified, but when the president’s son and others blamed us for the violence, I became scared,” wrote Stoll.

The production was plagued with disruptions from protestors, but fortunately had none that caused physically critical harm.

How Donald Trump Weaseled His Way Into Getting Salma Hayek’s Number

In 2016, Salma Hayek revealed that, many years ago, President Donald Trump asked her out.

According to Hayek, she rejected Trump’s advances and, as a result, he told the National Enquirer that he had rejected her because she was too short.

After this story broke in October, many wondered how Trump got his tiny little hands on Hayek’s number in the first place. Well, now, she’s telling the awkward tale behind their initial meetup.

During a recent appearance on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” Noah asked Hayek about this particular incident and the 50-year-old actress spilled so much tea.

It all started when Hayek was cold at an event and Trump, who just happened to be sitting behind her and her then boyfriend, immediately put his coat around her shoulders.

“I turn around and my boyfriend — so charming, so nice — he said hello [to Trump],” she recalled. “[Trump] said, ‘I’m sorry, your girlfriend, I saw she was cold.’ And then he kept talking to my boyfriend.”

Trump sparked up a little friendship with Hayek’s boyfriend that night and eventually told the couple they should stay in his hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, if they were ever in town. He asked for their phone numbers and, according to Hayek, Trump never spoke to her boyfriend again.

But he did give her a ring.

“He’s inviting me out, and I’m like, ‘What about my boyfriend? Am I crazy? Are you asking me out? You know I have a boyfriend,’” she explained, adding that Trump responded with, “‘He’s not good enough for you. He’s not important, he’s not big enough for you. You have to go out with me.’”

Noah then joked that Trump was right. Hayek did not end up with that boyfriend and instead married French billionaire François-Henri Pinault in 2009.

Tim Cook ‘Reveals’ Who Is Really Behind Donald Trump’s Late Night Tweets

Tim Cook used part of his address to graduating students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Friday to poke fun at President Donald Trump.

The Apple CEO began by saying he’d never figured out how students at the university in Cambridge pulled off their spectacular course-end pranks ― such as the placing of a propeller atop the campus’ Great Dome.

“Or how you’ve obviously taken over the president’s Twitter account,” Cook added. “I can tell college students are behind it because most of the tweets happen at 3 a.m.”

Cook went on to deliver some serious advice to the class of 2017, and the effect that the online world may have on their lives.

“The internet has enabled so much and empowered so many. But it can also be a place where the basic rules of decency are suspended and pettiness and negativity thrive,” Cook said.

He encouraged students not to let “the noise knock you off course” or to “get caught up on the trivial aspects of life.”

“Don’t listen to the trolls, and for God’s sake don’t become one,” Cook added. “Measure your impact on humanity not in likes, but in the lives you touch. Not in popularity, but in the people you serve.”

Stephen Colbert Explains Donald Trump’s Most Frustrating Contradiction

Much of America watched former FBI Director James Comey testify in front of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Thursday. Nielsen Media reported around 19.5 million watched on television, but millions more streamed the testimony online since it took place during the typical work day.

President Donald Trump was among those watching ― and he soon publicly addressed the various accusations Comey leveled against him.

“Comey was pretty rough on the president,” Stephen Colbert said “The Late Show” Friday night. “But right after the testimony, Trump sent his longtime personal lawyer and devil who has a thing he wants you to sign, Marc Kasowitz to respond.”

The host played a clip of the lawyer claiming that Comey’s testimony vindicated Trump, because in Kasowitz’s words, the former FBI director confirmed publicly what he had told Trump privately. This referred to Trump’s insistence that Comey had told him that he was not under investigation by the FBI.

As a quick refresher into this confusing mess: It is true that when Trump asked Comey whether he was personally under investigation, he was not. But Trump associates were under investigation and Comey’s testimony on Thursday indicated that Trump may be facing an investigation into whether the president obstructed justice.

This is where Kasowitz began an extremely frustrating contradiction, as Colbert explained.

But even though, everything Comey said proved Trump wasn’t guilty, he was also a liar?
Stephen Colbert

“But even though, everything Comey said proved Trump wasn’t guilty, he was also a liar?” Colbert said.

He then played another part of the Kasowitz clip where the lawyer detailed the various ways Comey had allegedly lied during the testimony.

This bizarre argument tracked with what the president later tweeted.

During his testimony, Comey also called Trump a liar on multiple occasions.

It’s a classic he said, he said (American politics still being dominated by men, of course).

Now you’ve got to choose whether to believe the “Twin Peaks” character Agent Dale Cooper incarnate in Comey or… well… the apparent “liar in chief.”

SHOPPING NEWS UPDATE:

Donald Trump Was Funnier Than ‘Saturday Night Live’

In a now infamous clip from July 2015, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) suggested on ABC’s “The Week” that Donald Trump might become the president. To this, host George Stephanopoulos and New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman broke out into laughter.

Then, and since that time, Trump’s words and actions have appeared so ridiculous and terrible that from a certain perspective, it is darkly hilarious this person became the President of The United States.

In the week leading up to the “Saturday Night Live” season finale last weekend, Trump-related reporting went into overdrive, as The New York Times and The Washington Post published extremely damaging stories about the current administration on a daily basis. By Thursday, the Times felt their readers could use a story titled “Trying Not to Drown in a Flood of Major Breaking News.”

After an “SNL” season defined by very popular but hit-and-miss Trump parodies, the show finished with an episode that barely even addressed the major headlines of the past week. In a cold open that mirrored the show’s opening after Hillary Clinton’s loss, Alec Baldwin played Trump while singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” The real Trump had had a terrible past few days, and the show probably correctly assumed the viewers already knew that. It seems the writers decided there was little they could possibly add, other than acknowledge it, shrug and wink.

“Donald Trump presents something of a conundrum to political humorists who consider him a gift from God but a man who has repeatedly proven himself zanier, wackier, and funnier than whatever professional ridiculers can come up with,” wrote James Andrew Miller, the author of Live From New York: The Complete, Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live as Told by Its Stars, Writers, and Guests, back in fall 2015 for Vanity Fair.

Miller continued on about Trump for this piece, describing him as someone “who one-ups and out-does his own comic critics; who out-lampoons the lampooners; and who raises the bar so high that comedians have trouble reaching it.”

“SNL” may have had a very successful season in terms of achieving a relatively large viewership, as they beat out their typical ratings on just about a weekly basis.

But even if this country turned its tired eyes to “SNL” in seeking catharsis for the Trump mess, the 42nd season of the show often faltered in trying to top the inherent hilarity of the news itself.

Trump was a tower, and “SNL” never escaped that shadow.

The problem “SNL” faced this season was not lost on critics.

The Verge published a review of the Alec Baldwin-hosted episode in February with the lede, “’Saturday Night Live’ is enjoying its highest ratings in over 20 years, despite lending absolutely no credence to the argument that comedy might improve under the Trump administration.” The article went on to give praise to Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer impression (focusing on her physical comedy gifts), but then argued, “The rest of last night’s mostly political episode was a series of riffs on the easiest possible joke you could make about anything Trump does: he’s stupid and he’s sad and he doesn’t know what he’s doing.”

A review on The Ringer of McCarthy’s turn at hosting the show in May pointed out that as this season went on, the writers seemed to struggle to cover Trump in a meaningful way. “SNL is at its best when it uses current events as a segue into comedy, rather than comedy as a means of commenting on current events,” wrote Alison Herman. “That speaks to a larger truth about ‘Saturday Night Live’: Often, the show appears to do political sketches more out of obligation than passion.”

The New Yorker focused on “the limits of Trump mockery,” pointing out that the show’s writers seemed to have more meta-jokes about how they can’t just keep making fun of him forever as the season went on. “If, in the past, ‘Saturday Night Live’ had been goading Trump to lash out, now it seemed that the show, like the rest of us, was asking him to cut it out,” wrote the New Yorker’s Ian Crouch.

Oftentimes, this “SNL” season felt like one big sigh, an under-the-breath muttering of “are we doing this again?” and then a satirical recap aimed at the deluge of bad Trump news. And, of course, none of this was helped by the show’s decision to have Trump host the show while he was still a candidate (an experience former “SNL” star Taran Killam confirmed was “not fun”).

The 42-year-old sketch show is far from in dire straits, though. As previously mentioned, the ratings were good this season. Still, there does seem to be this underlying problem ― an inadequate cog within an otherwise generally well-oiled machine.

The show just can’t beat actual news about Trump for hilarity. Even if the former is darkly and perversely funny, it still creates a huge elephant in the room for every “SNL” episode tasked with responding to the trending topics of the week. It’s always Trump. And this new reality is consistently more absurd than the political satire Americans are typically accustomed to.

Baldwin admitted to this problem in an interview with his wife, “Extra” correspondent Hilaria Baldwin, last February. “Another thing I find that’s so weird about the stuff we’re doing, we’re just repeating back what he says … Doing this is strange, but what is even more strange is this is real.”

In April, Splitsider had a great review of the show that also focused on this feeling that “SNL” inherently just goes through the motions as a result of Trump’s increasingly absurdist presidency. Here’s a passage:

“Saturday Night Live” hasn’t gotten edgy or daring or important in the age of Trump: instead life has turned into a mediocre “Saturday Night Live” sketch. “Saturday Night Live” is uniquely qualified to capture that particular moment in our zeitgeist. “What if Donald Trump were president, and he was, of course, super vulgar and obnoxious and arrogant but also super racist?” is the half-assed “Saturday Night Live” sketch idea that has become our horrifyingly half-assed reality.

Week to week, the show became predictable as well. Trump and his administration were super popular characters every single week. And so the show beat jokes to death, as if “SNL” had done featured more cowbell or Stefon over and over again, multiple times, in all its episodes.

On top of this, viewers could essentially know most of the jokes beforehand, having read about or watched it all in the news. During the week, it was likely people on social platforms like Twitter and YouTube would have made better riffs on the weekly headlines. Days later, “SNL” could offer a team of writers, expensive set design, costumes and movie stars to act out the news, but that wasn’t always enough.

This season had a few truly inspired Trump-related sketches that are deserving of the heaps of praise they received. “Through Donald’s Eyes,” starring the wrestler John Cena, comes to mind. The first iteration of McCarthy’s Spicer, obviously. “Black Jeopardy” with Tom Hanks, which came before the election but still holds up.

“SNL” undoubtedly had many highs this year, but the season finale could not come soon enough. With Trump still in office, how many times could the show really have something new to say? The man’s been the best joke in New York City for decades. At a certain point, all anyone can do is shrug and agree that the guy is still just as absurd as the week before.

Over the course of Trump’s rise, “SNL” has been far from alone in struggling to parody him. The creators of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone expressed frustration that Trump is so ridiculous and hinted a desire to stop including him in their show. In the latest press tour for “Veep,” the team behind the show spoke out repeatedly about how their political show could never match the absurdity of the real-life Trump presidency.

“[Trump] is ruining comedy,” executive producer David Mandel matter-of-factly told HuffPost last year.

And on top of this, very obviously, Trump making comedy tricky is far from the worst thing the existence of his administration has wrought. This is something “SNL” is aware of, too. In a Hollywood Reporter interview, “Weekend Update” anchor Colin Jost summed this up well as he said:

“Anytime people are paying more attention to politics, it’s good for our show. But you almost feel like a war profiteer at times because we’ve benefited from a situation that’s so tough.”

The higher ratings this season reflect that “SNL” was mostly successful in addressing these problems. Baldwin’s Trump was funny!

But Trump was funnier.

HuffPost reached out to the Live From New York author, James Andrew Miller, to see if he’d comment as a follow-up to that prescient 2015 summarization of the Trump problem “SNL” would face.

Miller had this to say about the show’s future:

As a politician and president, Trump is an outlier in virtually every respect, so it stands to reason that even after 42 years, “SNL” is swimming in uncharted waters. And looking ahead, that means questions like, “Will the audience get burned out on Trump sketches?” and “If investigations reveal more troubling information, will things get too serious for satire?” are difficult to answer. “SNL” has seen a lot in its history and will do its best to adapt to whatever happens, but one thing can clearly be said as of now: The Trump victory was one of the best gifts to the show since it first went on the air in ‘75.

Given the seemingly endless amount of damning leaks about the Trump administration, “SNL” may not even have to reckon with a Trump presidency come next season. But in the off chance that’s not the case, the show may be doomed to exist in Trump’s dark, looming shadow.

Chelsea Handler Says Melania Would Be An ‘American Hero’ If She Divorced Donald Trump

Everyone is having a good laugh over Melania Trump publicly humiliating her husband, Donald Trump ― including Chelsea Handler.

Handler, who was promoting her Netflix show on “The View” Monday, was absolutely delighted by video of Melania swatting away Donald’s attempt at holding her hand when the first couple arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel.

“I have a fantasy. I just want Melania to finally come out and divorce him. She would be an American hero,” Handler told the “View” co-hosts. “We would embrace her if she just said, ‘Listen, this guy’s disgusting, and I know all of his dirty secrets and I’m willing to tell everybody.’”

Even if Melania is willing or wants to divorce Donald and spill his secrets one day, actively embracing her might be a step too far.

In 2011, Melania appeared on “The Joy Behar Show,” where she defended her husband’s false, racist conspiracy theory and repeated his birther claims almost verbatim, according to Vanity Fair.

“Do you want to see President Obama’s birth certificate or not?,” Melania asked Behar. “In one way, it would be very easy if President Obama just show it. It’s not only Donald who wants to see it. It’s American people who voted for him and who didn’t vote for him — they want to see that!”

There are plenty of people who love the idea that Melania seemingly hates her husband. During Trump’s inauguration, a meme was born when, as soon as Trump turned his back to her, Melania’s face completely fell. The Twitterverse went on to use the hashtag #FreeMelania, which was also spotted on signs at Women’s March in January.

Perhaps, in this case, it’s actually easy to mistake schadenfreude for sympathy, but author and sex columnist Dan Savage previously explained that no one should be giving the first lady a pass.

“[T]here are some folks on the left who not only don’t hate her, they view her as some sort of sympathetic figure. The pretty princess in the tower locked up by the orange ogre with the bad combover, a princess desperately blinking out distress signals during swearing-in ceremonies and inaugural balls,” he said during one of his podcasts in March.

Adding, “She’s an immigrant who doesn’t give a s**t about the plight of other immigrants. She’s famously a plagiarist. And she’s brought ruinous lawsuits against journalists and bloggers accusing them of among other things, potentially interfering with her ability to profit off her role as first lady.”

Stephen Colbert Is Beyond Happy That Donald Trump Is Out Of The Country

Late Show” host Stephen Colbert couldn’t contain his glee at the fact that President Donald Trump is abroad on Friday.

With Trump away on a nine-day jaunt to the Middle East and Western Europe, Colbert said it meant “we have the whole country to ourselves for the weekend.”

And that meant one thing — a “party at the White House.”

“You know (Mike) Pence is throwing a rager this weekend,” Colbert joked.

The host went on to dissect just some of the challenges Trump may face on his trip, during which he is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican, and attend a G7 meeting in Sicily and a NATO summit in Belgium.

Cher Calls Out Donald Trump For ‘Cheating And Getting Away With It’

Cher has never been one to shy away from expressing her opinions on Donald Trump, so it comes as no surprise that the music icon, once again, took aim at the president in her recent Billboard magazine profile

The Academy Award winner explained that since Trump’s election, she’s had to hide her phone to prevent herself from sending rage-filled tweets.

“The president is cheating and getting away with it, and using the White House to make money, and he’s going to take health care away from people, and people are going die,” she said. “It’s outrageous. You feel like you’re screaming ‘Fire!’ and no one’s listening.”

The 70-year-old doesn’t reserve her criticism to the Republican party, though. In her eyes, “the Democrats fucked up so bad in their message, and how old [the leadership] is.”

The “Believe” singer even gave Hillary Clinton some advice: “I told Hillary she should have a group of millennials give their ideas about government.”

Cher has long been outspoken when it comes to politics, especially when it relates to Trump. She’s dragged him on multiple occasions ― beating him at his own Twitter game ― and even compared him to Hitler

And she’ll probably never stop. As she said to her assistant during the Billboard interview, “I am who I am, it doesn’t make any difference what I’m supposed to be.”

Donald Trump Gives Sean Spicer His Final Kiss On ‘SNL’

Sean Spicer’s days as the White House press secretary could be nearing their end, and “Saturday Night Live” did not pass up the opportunity to imagine what they’d look like.

After teasing her “SNL” appearance this week by rolling (literally) through the streets of New York, Melissa McCarthy popped out of the bushes and reprised her role as Spicer once again this week.

McCarthy, who was hiding among the bushes as Spicer, interrupted Aidy Bryant’s stint as Sarah Huckabee Sanders ― President Donald Trump’s political aide who took on the press this week after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

After booting Sanders from the stage, McCarthy’s Spicer aggressively fielded questions from the press, but things got dicey when reporters started asking the press secretary if he was afraid of losing his job like Comey.

Spicer defended his boss, saying that he endures POTUS’ abuse because they’re friends. But the questioning eventually leads him on a journey to the streets of New York, then a golf course in New Jersey, to ask Trump once and for all what his future at the White House looks like.

Long story short, it ended with Spicer’s final kiss.

“I don’t think I can do this anymore, Mr. Trump,” Spicer told Alec Baldwin’s Trump. “They’re saying that you’re going to replace me with Sarah.”

“Sean, come on, I would never do that,” the president replied. Sarah Huckabee Sanders “doesn’t have your special spice: Salt and pepper, a little bit of sugar.”

“Sean,” Trump said. “Kiss me.”

In the clip above, watch Spicer’s final moments in the Trump administration, as imagined by “SNL.”

The Office Of Government Ethics May Have Just Trolled Donald Trump

Did the Office of Government Ethics just throw shade at President Donald Trump on Twitter? It sure seems that way.

Trump fired FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday. On Thursday, it was reported Comey refused Trump’s demand for loyalty at a private dinner in January, something the White House denied.

And on Friday, the ethics office tweeted the following message:

The post did not reference Trump directly, but many tweeters took it to be a subtle dig at the president:

College Lacrosse Team Takes Field Using Donald Trump Speech

Some college teams take to the field backed by a fight song, but not the Adelphi University Lacrosse Team in Garden City, New York.

They’ve been taking to the field backed by the strains of this Donald Trump speech:

“In all of our cities and in all of our towns, I make this promise: We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again! God bless you and good night. I love you!”

The team’s unique choice in fight music came to light on Wednesday after Barstool Sports posted a video on Twitter and Instagram.

Although Trump’s presidency has been polarizing, team coach Gordon Purdie insists his players aren’t trying to make a statement.

“The men’s lacrosse team has traditionally chosen patriotic music for its pre-game warm-up,” Purdie said in a statement to the New York Daily News. “It was not intended to provoke or be taken as a political statement. We’re sorry if anyone was offended.”

An opposing coach told the paper the Adelphi Panther have been using the Trump speech as their coming out music since April, but declined further comment.

Adelphi athletic director Danny McCabe told Newsday that the Trump speech doesn’t violate any of rules regarding warm-up music.

“The men’s lacrosse team’s regular-season pregame warm-up music is selected as a team and approved for use so long as they do not contain vulgarity or inappropriate subject matter,” McCabe said. “The songs they proposed and used this season meet those guidelines. As such, we are obliged to follow the policy.”

Not everyone agrees with the team’s choice, based on Twitter reactions.

Regardless of the reaction, the team seems to be doing well with a 14-3 record on the season and the top seed in the NCAA tournament that begins on Saturday.

Stephen Colbert To Face FCC Investigation Over ‘Homophobic’ Donald Trump Joke

Stephen Colbert pissed off lots of people this week with a controversial rant against President Donald Trump on “The Late Show” and now he might have to pay for it ― literally.

Federal Communications Commission chairman Ajit Pai revealed that the agency would investigate the comedian’s reference to Trump on Monday’s show as Russian President Vladamir Putin’s “cock holster.” Many called the comment “homophobic.”

“I have had a chance to see the clip now and so, as we get complaints, and we’ve gotten a number of them, we are going to take the facts that we find and we are going to apply the law as it’s been set out by the Supreme Court and other courts and we’ll take the appropriate action,” Pai said on The Rich Zeoli Show on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT on Friday.

Pai added the FCC would follow the standard operating procedures and “make sure we evaluate what the facts are and apply the law fairly and fully.”

Colbert’s fiery two-minute routine, titled “Stephen says everything journalists wish they could,” included jokes about Trump’s tiny hands and missing tax returns. But it was the “cock holster” line that drew the most ire and subsequently inspired a #FireColbert hashtag on Twitter.

The late night show host responded to the controversy on Wednesday night, telling viewers he didn’t regret what he said because he believes the president “can take care of himself.” But Colbert did note if he were to do it again, he would “change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be.”

Addressing the claims of homophobia, he added, “I just want to say for the record, life is short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way, is to me, an American hero.”

Variety reported that Pai’s response to Colbert’s monologue is “surprising” as “’The Late Show’ airs outside the FCC’s long-established ‘safe harbor’ time frame of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in which the commission has the authority to police allegations of indecent and obscene material on the airwaves.”

Pai told The Rich Zeoli Show that if the commission finds Colbert violated FCC regulations he would most likely face a fine.

Still, Colbert probably isn’t sweating the investigation too much. “The Late Show” drew its best ratings on Thursday night since its premiere week in 2015.

Alec Baldwin Says ‘SNL’ Invited Donald Trump to Return

President Donald Trump declined an invitation to return to “Saturday Night Live” this season, according to Alec Baldwin. Donald Trump Thinks Exercise Is Bad For You

Nothing is safe from alternative facts ― even exercise.

According to Donald Trump, physical fitness is useless. As the Washington Post’s Michael Kranish and Marc Fisher wrote in their new book, Trump Revealed, Trump believes a sweat session actually does more harm than good:

After college, after Trump mostly gave up his personal athletic interests, he came to view time spent playing sports as time wasted. Trump believed the human body was like a battery, with a finite amount of energy, which exercise only depleted. So he didn’t work out.

The book also states that when Trump learned that one of his top casino executives, John O’Donnell, was in the midst of training for an Ironman Triathlon, Trump told him, “You are going to die young because of this.

It’s obvious that this belief is completely untrue (not to mention the fact that golf, one of Trump’s favorite activities, is a form of exercise). But since the statement is out there, we’re here to reiterate a few life-saving benefits of physical activity.

Take a look at just some of the ways working out can help a person’s health below:

1. Physical activity boosts cardiovascular health.

Aerobic exercise, such as walking, biking, swimming or jogging, helps prevent heart disease, which is the nation’s leading cause of death among adults, according to the American Heart Association. People should aim for 150 minutes of moderate activity per week to reap the benefits.

2. It helps maintain a healthy body weight.

Given that obesity is still slowly on the rise, this benefit is a big one. Regular exercise reduces body fat, fights against obesity and helps lower the risk of getting illnesses associated with obesity, like diabetes, according to the American College of Sports Medicine.

3. Exercise lowers stress.

You know when you just need to blow off a little steam? That’s exactly when someone should pound the pavement or sign up for a class at the gym. Research shows exercise helps people cope with everyday worries and boosts mood. Even further, exercise may have the power to reverse damage to the brain caused by stressful events

4. And it leads to a happiness boost.

Endorphins, which are little-but-mighty neurotransmitters in the brain, are released during bouts of exercise. Not only do they help increase happiness levels, they can also improve confidence and self-esteem, according to The Mayo Clinic.

5. Physical activity can make a person stronger.

Strong health starts with making the body stronger. Exercise helps with that by engaging muscles, improving joints and boosting endurance

6. It improves longevity and lowers risk of disease.

According to the Mayo Clinic, people who exercise may be at a lower risk for stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, cancer and arthritis (just to name a few).

Even just a little bit of exercise helps people live a longer life. Recent research shows that just an hour of brisk walking or 30 minutes of jogging or biking per week is enough to improve mortality rates.

7. Exercise helps you sleep better.

Running, biking, weightlifting, yoga and even gardening are associated with helping achieve better quality sleep than no exercise at all, according to research from the University of Pennsylvania. (And given that Trump says he only gets a few hours of sleep a night, this perk might be super useful.)

Just something to consider. Because the idea that exercise is terrible? It’s just…

Expert Baker Trolls Donald Trump With Cakes That Use His Own Words

Brooklyn baker Kat Thek is the brainchild behind Troll Cakes, a new bakery/detective agency that specializes in turning trolls’ mean internet comments into delicious cakes.

But it’s Thek’s “Tiny Hands Special” ― meant for President Trump ― that’s got our attention. This “bigly satisfying” deal means that for only $ 30, you can get one of Trump’s tweets or comments printed on a cake and sent straight to the White House.

Below is an example of some of Trump’s comments paraphrased from an Associated Press interview on a Troll Cake:

“It would be a tremendous, terrific mistake to deprive our nation’s noisiest troll of his incredibly deserved Troll Cakes,” Thek told HuffPost via email last week. “Our ‘Tiny Hands Special’ has been well received but it’s also gotten us asked if we’re skirting the line of terrorism. Here’s where we land on that: if putting the president’s exact words into icing on a cake is considered an act of terror, the problem is not the cake.”

She added, “However, if the White House no longer wishes to receive Troll Cakes, we’re ready to reroute shipments to Mar-a-Lago. We are hopeful that the State Department will include Troll Cakes as a dining option in their next Mar-a-Lago ad.”

“We’d also like to note that Trump’s decision to incorporate a cake description into his account of the recent Syrian missile strike (it was chocolate and ‘the most beautiful’) was not a sponsored Troll Cakes promotion,” Thek said jokingly.

If you’d like to just take on a regular troll, there’s a $ 35 option in which the company will bake chocolate chip brownie cake, decorate it with frosting, sprinkles and the comment and then ship it to the troll’s home or work address. If you don’t know where the troll lives, the price goes up to $ 60.

That means someone’s hateful comment like “Crash in a plane” would be turned into a yummy masterpiece like this. Eat it and weep, trolls:

Internet comment –> Troll Cake Delivery included @ trollcakes.com #trollcakes

A post shared by Kat Thek (@kat_thek) on

Thek also told HuffPost about coming up with the concept of Troll Cakes and revealed the cake she recently made for one of Amy Schumer’s trolls.

When did you start Troll Cakes? How did you come up with the concept?

The troll that really sparked the whole enterprise was on Dolly Parton’s Facebook page. There was something simultaneously infuriating and hilarious about seeing somebody try to bully Dolly Parton. I mean, who would do that? And is the goal to hurt Dolly’s feelings? She’s a 71-year-old millionaire who grew up in a one-room cabin and now wears sequined jumpsuits — a poorly spelled Facebook post isn’t going to take the spring out of her step one bit.

Trolling anyone, especially Dolly Parton, is like aggressively giving the finger to a sunset or a panda or bag of craisins. You’re just letting everybody around you know that you’re a grumpy idiot. It’s fun to maintain that idiocy but then flip the grumpy into something obnoxiously cheerful, like a surprise cake in the mail.

What do you like most about Troll Cakes?

Troll Cakes combines our deep interest in cake, catty comments, the mail, being nosy, and having a reason to speak like Julia Child. Putting all of those things together saves a lot of time.

Why do you call yourselves a detective agency as well?

We’re a full service operation ― if you don’t know your troll’s home or work address, we’ll track ‘em down.

What else should we know about Troll Cakes?

We love sending Troll Cakes between friends ― some of our favorite deliveries have been one friend trolling another for oversharing on Facebook.

We made the attached “You Donkey Witch” Troll Cake from a comment on Amy Schumer’s instagram and then made a Twitter account to holler at Amy to see if she’d like us to send. No news yet:

We’re going to start taking Thek’s message to heart ― if you see something, cake something:

See something? Cake something. #trollcakes

White House Correspondents Dinner Goes On, Without Donald Trump

An annual Washington tradition best known for celebrity guests and a comedy routine by the president continues on Saturday with neither.

The White House Correspondents Association dinner, at the Washington Hilton in D.C.’s Dupont Circle neighborhood, will be held without President Donald Trump and the high-profile guests typically invited by news outlets that organize the event. Instead, this year’s dinner will include guests like the high-school journalists who brought down their principal with a story on her faked credentials. (The kids will be guests of HuffPost.)

Trump announced he was skipping the dinner in February, making him the first president in more than three decades to break the tradition. At the time, Trump and his administration were fiercely attacking reporters and media outlets. He described the media as “the enemy of the American people,” threatened to change libel laws so he can more easily sue news organizations, attacked the media for using unnamed sources in stories critical of his administration, and blocked certain outlets, including HuffPost, from attendance at press briefings.

Saturday’s correspondents dinner will still feature a roast of the president, delivered by “The Daily Show” correspondent Hasan Minhaj, a Muslim comedian who has condemned Trump’s anti-Muslim actions. It’s a safe bet that there will be plenty of jabs at the president’s expense.

Still, this year’s correspondents dinner will be a diminished affair compared with past years. Much of the star power typically drawn to the dinner will instead be concentrated at an alternative event thrown by “Full Frontal” host Samantha Bee. The New Yorker and Vanity Fair have canceled the extravagant after-parties they typically hold. And Trump is holding a rally at the same time as the dinner, presumably to divert attention from the Washington event.

Jeff Mason, president of the White House Correspondents Association, said this year’s dinner would focus on its original purpose: funding scholarships for aspiring journalists and recognizing the work of reporters covering the presidency.

“We look forward to shining a spotlight at the dinner on some of the best political journalism of the past year and recognizing the promising students who represent the next generation of our profession,” Mason said in a statement.

Given Trump’s anti-media attacks, the dinner also is likely to focus on freedom of the press and the media’s watchdog role in government.

White House Insists Melania Trump Isn’t Miserable Married To Donald

From the Trumps’ strained interactions during the inauguration to their awkward body language in photographs, much has been speculated about their 12-year marriage ― everyone from etiquette experts to the Twitterverse has chimed in (just look at the hashtag #FreeMelania). Is this really what Melania signed up for?

Recent reports, including a piece in Vanity Fair titled “Inside the Trump Marriage: Melania’s Burden,” have suggested that the first lady is less than happy. But those close to her, including Melania’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham, have squashed the notion.

“Mrs. Trump is a loving wife and mother who has always put her family first and that will not change,” Grisham told HuffPost, calling the VF piece a “false story.” “She is an independent woman who believes in our country, and continues her plans to serve as First Lady with integrity and dedication.”

Vanity Fair’s story, which appears online and in the magazine’s May 2017 issue, focuses on how the former model ― who met her billionaire husband at a party during New York City’s Fashion Week back in 1998 ― is dealing with the public scrutiny that comes with her first lady title. It includes claims from mostly unnamed sources that their union may not necessarily be a romance for the ages.

Grisham plays a large role in the piece, denying all rumors of trouble in paradise. Some of the questions addressed include:

Does Melania actually plan to move to D.C. to be with her husband?

The White House has said that Melania will move to Washington at the end of the school year, but Vanity Fair notes that the Trumps have not announced which D.C.-area school Barron will be attending, and perhaps haven’t even applied. “There’s been no ‘Barron will be going to my school’” gossip, a parent at prep school St. Albans told the magazine.

According to Grisham, “they are still looking at a few schools.”

Was President Trump rude during Melania’s pregnancy?

An unnamed source claims President Trump ― who already had four children at the time ― allegedly only agreed to have a baby with Melania on the condition that she’d get her body back.

“She promised him that everything would go back to the way it was,” an unnamed visitor to one of the Trump residences told the magazine. “There was no, ‘How do you feel?’ No opening of doors, making sure she didn’t fall. Just ‘You wanted to have a baby. ”

Grisham countered that the president was “very warm and supportive throughout her pregnancy.”

Does Melania not want to be First Lady?

“She never wanted this, and never had any interest,” another unnamed source told Vanity Fair. But Grisham says, “Mrs. Trump has always been supportive of all her husband’s endeavors.”

Does Melania have an icy relationship with her stepdaughter Ivanka?

Vanity Fair cites two anonymous sources in fashion and media who claim that Melania and Ivanka don’t have the best relationship, but Grisham claims the two are “fine.”

“Ivanka and Mrs. Trump have always shared a close relationship, and that continues today,” she said.

In an e-mail to HuffPost, Grisham said that Vanity Fair’s story is “offensive.”

“Vanity Fair chose to publish not only a false story, but one that is degrading to women. When you consider it is a magazine that is tailored to women, it becomes even more offensive,” she said.

This Comparison Of Donald Trump And ‘Sesame Street’ Is Wonderful

As you may have heard, Donald Trump wants to cut funding to the National Endowment for the Arts and the Corporation For Public Broadcasting. While “Sesame Street” is not directly funded by these organizations, the cuts could eliminate the local PBS stations that air the beloved children’s show.

But why would Donald Trump want to get rid of “Sesame Street”? The answer: because it’s his complete opposite.

Dylan Marron from Seriously TV gives us a fantastic side-by-side comparison of Donald Trump and “Sesame Street,” which shows just how diametrically opposed the two are, and, really, have always been.

Dave Chappelle Wants Comedians To Stop Making The Same Donald Trump Jokes

Saturday Night Live” is experiencing a creative renaissance and its biggest ratings in two decades under Donald Trump’s presidency. But Dave Chappelle has a message for fellow comedians enjoying the fruits of the administration’s blunders: “Trump’s kind of bad for comedy.”

Speaking with CBC on Sunday, Chappelle offered his take on the current president’s relationship with his chosen profession, agreeing that comedy has “a role to play under Trump,” but warning that there’s a risk of regurgitating the same material.

“Most comics in the states are starting to do the same jokes, just because Trump is so on everybody’s mind,” he said. “So it’ll be nice when we don’t have to talk about him that much.”

Despite his concerns over Trump’s omnipresence, Chappelle said he still believes the state of comedy today is “strong and healthy,” citing the return of some of his favorites like Chris Rock and Jon Stewart to the game.

“I think that most of these guys you see working are wildly courageous,” he explained. “It’s such a strange time, being bombarded with so much information, and I think comedy is an important valve for syphoning through all that.”

In November, Chappelle hosted the first “Saturday Night Live” episode after the election and delivered a stirring opening monologue in response to Trump’s surprise win. After joking that America actually elected “an internet troll as our president,” he recalled a recent visit to the White House for a BET event that made him feel hopeful about the country’s direction.

“I saw how happy everybody was, these people who had been historically disenfranchised, and it made me feel hopeful, and it made me feel proud to be an American,” Chappelle said. “So, in that spirit, I’m wishing Donald Trump luck. I’m going to give him a chance, and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too.”

For more from Chappelle, you can watch his two comedy specials that premiere on Netflix this month.

Nick Kroll And John Mulaney Rip On Donald Trump At Spirit Awards

Nick Kroll and John Mulaney, this year’s Independent Spirit Awards co-hosts, didn’t hold back during Saturday’s ceremony in Los Angeles.

The creative minds behind “The Oh, Hello Show” ripped on politicians and Hollywood stars during the film awards.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kroll said of White House chief strategist Steven Bannon, “The only reason he got that job is because he’s so hot!” Mulaney added, “Those chapped kneecaps!” before Kroll weighed in, “In this country, if you’re that sexy, you can get anything you want. Steve Bannon is so hot. He looks like Nick Offerman drowned.”

President Donald Trump also wasn’t immune to criticism. Kroll called out Trump’s decision to remove bathroom protections for transgender students, sarcastically noting that “transgender children in public schools have had it too good for too long.” Mulaney chimed in, “Hey, Trump, you and Robert Durst are both rich sociopaths from New York, but somehow Robert Durst is more likable.”

Per THR, the hosts also took aim at Mel Gibson, director of the Oscar-nominated “Hacksaw Ridge.”

“We like to think of these awards as the ones without Mel Gibson,” Kroll said of awards show, which honors indie films. “People wondered: How long would it take Hollywood to forgive someone for anti-Semitic, racist hate speech?”

“Eight years!” Mulaney said. “So look out for the 2024 Oscars, when the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award goes to Mr. Steve Bannon.”

The Spirit Awards honored some of the best independent films from the past year. “Moonlight” swept the ceremony with six wins.

George Clooney Subtly Compares Donald Trump Era To McCarthyism

George Clooney was in Paris on Friday for the 42nd César awards, France’s version of The Oscars, where he was presented with an Honorary César for his body of work.

On stage with actor Jean Dujardin, who presented the award, the actor at first thanked his wife, Amal Clooney, and the French Academy, before turning to the state of things in the U.S.

“As citizens of the world, we’re going to have to work harder and harder not to let hate win,” he said, later adding, “I was thinking about Edward R. Murrow as we find ourselves nostalgic for when America was great and when the news wasn’t fake.”

Clooney then weaved together quotes from one of the broadcast legend’s most famous telecasts, when Murrow famously criticized Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy (R-Wis.) on CBS’ “See It Now” on March 9, 1954, as the senator ramped up his anti-communist activities.

Said Clooney on Friday:

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must not walk in fear of one another. We must not be driven by fear into an age of unreason. If we dig deep in our history and remember that we are not descendants from fearful people, we proclaim ourselves indeed as we are the defenders of freedom wherever it continues to exist in the world. But we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.

The actions of this president have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad and given considerable comfort to our enemies. And whose fault is that? Not really his. He didn’t create this situation of fear, he merely exploited it—and rather successfully.

Cassius was right. “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.” Good night, and good luck.

Cassius, in this instance, refers to the character from William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. Clooney also swapped in a few words to bring Murrow’s words into the modern era, switching out the journalist’s “the junior Senator from Wisconsin” for “this president.”

Edward R. Murrow’s famous criticism of  Joseph R. McCarthy

Clooney is a known fan of Murrow’s career, as he wrote, directed and starred in 2005’s “Good Night, and Good Luck,” a film that followed the tension between Murrow and McCarthy in the 1950s.

The actor has repeatedly taken President Donald Trump to task in recent months. Just earlier this week, he called Trump a “Hollywood elitist” who collected “$ 120,000 a year in his Screen Actors Guild pension fund.”

Alec Baldwin-Linked ’30 Rock’ Actor Handed In His Resignation To Donald Trump

Like his “30 Rock” colleague, Alec Baldwin, actor Maulik Pancholy has gone on to join the resistance against President Donald Trump in his own way.

Along with other members of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Pancholy handed in his resignation to the president on Wednesday, citing Trump’s controversial executive orders affecting refugees and immigrants.

President Barack Obama originally appointed Pancholy to the commission, which works with the federal government to serve Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the United States. His appointment was scheduled to last through September 2017.

The resigning members released a joint letter, excerpted below:

We can no longer serve a President whose policies aim to create outcomes that are diametrically opposed to our principles, goals, and charge … Since your Inauguration, the Executive Orders you have issued and policies you have promulgated have greatly impeded the ability of the federal government to serve all who live here.

The actor tweeted about the decision earlier this week and has spent the last few days retweeting various follow-ups.

Pancholy also wrote his own separate note to Trump:

On “30 Rock,” Pancholy played the assistant to Alec Baldwin’s character, Jack Donaghey. Donaghey memorably fired Jonathan without any thought to prove a point to Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon.

It must have felt good for Pancholy to tell Trump there would be no “you’re fired” moment, because he’s already quit.

Here’s the relevant “30 Rock” scene:

Matt Damon Speaks Out Against Donald Trump’s Proposed Border Wall

Matt Damon, star of the upcoming movie “The Great Wall,” isn’t really “a believer in walls.” Specifically, walls proposed by President Donald Trump

In a new interview with People, Damon spoke out about the president’s plan to erect a wall between the United States and Mexico, as well as Trump’s idea that Mexico will pay for it

“I believe that history belongs to the cooperators,” the actor said, before noting that he doesn’t think “Mexico is going to pay for our infrastructure any more than we’re going to pay for their highways, you know what I mean? That’s just not going to happen. But, that’s where we are and we’ll see how it all plays out.”

Damon continued, “Hopefully the people of Mexico understand that the people of our country, the majority of them, don’t believe that we should be putting any walls up.”

When Trump was campaigning for the presidency, Damon expressed his discontent over the possibility of seeing the former “Apprentice” host in the White House.

“I’m kind of amazed we’ve arrived at this point,” he said during a 2016 interview with ABC News’ “Popcorn with Peter Travers. “I’m concerned.”

“There’s no way we can let this guy be the [president],” he added. “To let that dude have the nuclear football, are you kidding me? That’s dangerous. He’s impulsive and rash, and doesn’t seem to think deeply about too many things.”

Following Trump’s election, however, Damon, took on a more diplomatic tone. The actor, who has openly admitted he didn’t vote for the Republican candidate, told NBC, “A successful American president is good for all of us and we really have to be rooting for him right now.”

Newspaper Runs Photo Of Alec Baldwin Instead Of Donald Trump

Alec Baldwin has won praise for playing President Donald Trump.

And it turns out he’s so convincing, a Dominican Republic newspaper ran a photo of the actor portraying Trump instead of the president. The article discussed Trump’s stance on Israeli settlements, according to Haaretz.

El Nacional issued a correction shortly after the Friday gaffe, but not before it had circulated all over the internet:

Baldwin has been playing Trump regularly on “Saturday Night Live,” much to the president’s annoyance.

In defense of El Nacional, Baldwin’s version of Trump looks far more presidential than the president himself. Baldwin will likely be playing the president again when he hosts this week’s “Saturday Night Live.”

Billy Dee Williams Warms Up To Idea Of Donald Glover Reprising His ‘Star Wars’ Role

Billy Dee Williams was once not a fan of actor Donald Glover reprising his famed “Star Wars” character, Lando Calrissian, but it appears his feelings towards Glover have changed.

Williams, who previously told HuffPost in September that he couldn’t “imagine anybody else” taking on the character, opened up in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter about how he recently met with Glover over lunch and why he has become more supportive of the “Atlanta” star taking on the role in the upcoming “Star Wars” spinoff.

“He’s a very delightful young man,” Williams said. “He was doing what normal actors do, they just want to find out what direction they want to take so they gather their information. So, we just sat and talked, and I didn’t want to impose on anything he wanted to do ― he’s got his own ideas, I would imagine…He’s a very talented young man. In fact, I was listening to some of his music and it’s pretty good stuff.”

Despite his comments on preserving his portrayal of the character, Williams went on to tell The Hollywood Reporter that he never envisioned anyone else helming the role.

“Lando has been very much a part of my life for over 30 years,” he said. “When I go out and do conventions and stuff like that, even though people know me from all the other things that I’ve done, certainly [Lando] takes precedence. I just never thought of anybody else being Lando. I just see myself as Lando.”

Seth Rogen Not-So-Subtly Trolls Donald Trump With James Franco Photo

Seth Rogen is the latest star to poke fun at President Donald Trump.

On Monday, the president tweeted, “I don’t know Putin, have no deals in Russia, and the haters are going crazy – yet Obama can make a deal with Iran, #1 in terror, no problem!”

Rogen wasn’t having it.

In response to Trump ― who continually denies knowing Putin despite the fact that he’s been quoted saying he “got to know him very well” when they appeared on “60 Minutes” ― the actor shared the below photo with the caption, “I DO NOT know James Franco. I have NO relationship with him, never worked with him, and the haters are going CRAZY.”

Rogen’s latest tweet comes one day after he mocked Trump for writing, “Any negative polls are fake news, just like the CNN, ABC, NBC polls in the election,” on the social media app.

In response to that, Rogen wrote, “Any negative reviews to my movies are #FakeReviews.”

Rogen has also spoken out against Trump’s executive order, which barred people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the country. (The ban was halted by a federal judge last week.)

The “Sausage Party” star joins the large list of celebrities, including John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, who have been vocal in their opposition to Trump since he won the presidential election in November.

We can only assume the criticisms will keep on coming.

Rihanna ‘Disgusted’ By Donald Trump’s Attempt To Block Muslims From Entering U.S.

Rihanna is the latest star to add her voice to the conversation surrounding Donald Trump’s recent executive order, which temporarily banned all refugees from entering the U.S. and temporarily banned travelers entering the country from seven Muslim-majority nations.

On Saturday, the pop star tweeted her disgust for the action, which also bars Syrian refugees indefinitely.

“This is devastating!” she wrote, seemingly referring to the president as “an immoral pig.”

That same night, a federal judge in Brooklyn, New York, put a temporary halt on parts of Trump’s executive order. Thousands of demonstrators gathered to protest the travel ban at airports across the country.

Aside from Rihanna, plenty of other stars, such as Debra Messing, Michael Moore and Alyssa Milano, expressed their anger and sadness about the executive order on social media.

John Legend also spoke out about the issue at the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday night. The Grammy winner went off-script while presenting a clip from “La La Land” to deliver a poignant speech about acceptance.

“Our vision of America is directly antithetical to that of President Trump,” Legend said. “I want to specifically tonight reject his vision and affirm that America has to be better than that.”

‘Spinal Tap’ Spoof Of Donald Trump’s ABC Interview Turns It Up To 11

Donald Trump’s first television interview as president has received a glorious “This Is Spinal Tap” makeover.

The resulting clip, which McLaren posted to Twitter on Thursday, is hilarious:

McLaren said the inspiration for the parody came from filmmaker BenDavid Grabinski, who posted a joke on the same theme to Twitter.

Stephen Colbert Begins The Donald Trump Era With A Yuuuge New Look

Stephen Colbert switched up his outfit in honor of new President Donald Trump on Friday.

After poking fun at the super long red tie that Trump wore during his inauguration, “The Late Show” host paid tribute by revealing his own yellow version.

Colbert also predicted that the extended necktie may now become all the rage, claiming that whatever the president wears at the inaugural “tends to set the fashion trend for men for the next four years.”

“It’s very handy,” Colbert commented about his new tie. “You can use it for all sorts of things, for hiding an erection for instance, which I will not have for four years now.”

Drag Legend Sherry Vine Takes On Donald Trump In Powerful New Parody

Sherry Vine is back with the latest offering in a long line of video parodies ― but this one is a bit different than you might expect.

This particular parody is markedly more political than the beloved drag legend’s previous videos and takes on major events that have shaped the LGBTQ community over the decades  ― and the past year.

Set to Billy Joel’s hit “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” Vine’s video highlights Russia’s alleged tampering with America’s 2016 presidential election, Trump’s anti-LGBTQ administration, the Pulse Nightclub massacre and much more.

“This is a very different kind of parody for me,” Vine said in a press release sent to The Huffington Post. “While most of my parodies tend to be funny and naughty, there’s an element of anger and cynicism in this latest. It reflects how many of us in the LGBTQ community feel today. We don’t know what the future has in store for us. At any moment, the other shoe may drop and we’re scared. Very scared.”

Check out the video above and head here for more from Sherry Vine.

Michael Moore On Why We Should All Take Donald Trump ‘At His Word’

Michael Moore continues to be one of Donald Trump’s harshest critics.

In a new interview with Variety, the documentarian shared his thoughts about the president-elect, saying the reason he’s been able to stay as politically active as he has is because he’s taken Trump seriously “since day one.” (Moore predicted Trump’s victory last July.)

“You do have to take Trump at his word. I still hear people say, ‘Oh, he’s not really going to build the wall.’ Oh, he is going to build it. He knows that he’s got to deliver at least a version of the wall,” Moore said.

The “Bowling for Columbine” director also believes Trump will “absolutely” ban Muslims from entering the United States.

“He’s going to get away with it by making it a ban on Muslims who come from the following countries,” he said. “He needs just enough cover for his crowd to say, ‘Oh, he’s being reasonable there. He’s not banning all Muslims.’”

Moore’s sentiments seem to be an indirect response to Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway, who continually defends the president-elect’s controversial behavior and recently urged journalists to “look at what’s in his heart” instead of taking Trump’s words and actions at face value.

Moore admitted that he’s worried about Trump having access to nuclear weapons codes, adding, “I wish he had to go through a psychological evaluation, because I’m pretty sure that it would come out that he is a malignant narcissist.”

The director also criticized Trump’s tendency to react to any and all criticism ― including Meryl Streep’s speech at the Golden Globes ― by tweeting snarky retorts instead of focusing on more important issues (like running the country, for example).

“With all that’s going on in the world — the shooting in Fort Lauderdale, the shooting of police in Orlando, North Korea saying they have an ICBM that can hit us — and he woke up being consumed with Meryl Streep,” Moore said.

Still, the director doesn’t think Americans should be afraid of Trump’s rise. Instead, he urges those who don’t support Trump to “be brave. Be bold. Get up off the couch. Get active. Get involved.” (Moore is practicing what he preaches by leading a rally in New York City this Thursday, ahead of the inauguration.)

He continued, “No week should go by without you calling a member of Congress or one of your two senators. Make that part of your weekly routine now. Some people need to think about running for office themselves: school board, city council, precinct delegate. It’s not going to change until some of us start running.”

#TrumpHistoryLecture Is Revisionist History The Way Donald Likes It

This week Donald Trump went after civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis, saying Lewis was “all talk, talk, talk – no action or results” after Lewis questioned the legitimacy of Trump’s presidency.

In 1965, Lewis’ skull was fractured after being beaten by Alabama police during the historic march from Selma to Montgomery. That same year, a 19-year-old Donald Trump began to feel the beginning agony of some real pesky heel spurs, before talk, talk, talking his way out of serving in Vietnam.

This week’s HuffPost Comedy’s hashtag game dug into Trump’s very odd and murky view of history. It’s #TrumpHistoryLecture.

Toby Keith Won’t Apologize For Performing At Donald Trump’s Inauguration Celebration

Country music star Toby Keith will perform at Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration” concert on Jan. 19 (the eve of Inauguration Day), and he isn’t sorry about it one bit.

I don’t apologize for performing for our country or military,” Keith said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, after hearing some criticism for his decision. “I performed at events for previous presidents [George W.] Bush and [Barack] Obama and over 200 shows in Iraq and Afghanistan for the USO.”

Keith will be joined at the celebratory concert by 3 Doors Down, Lee Greenwood, The Piano Guys and the Frontmen of Country, according to an announcement posted on the Presidential Inaugural Committee site.

Broadway star Jennifer Holliday was also slated to perform but backed out. On Saturday, in a letter published by The Wrap, Holliday apologized to the LGBTQ community for agreeing to perform in the first place, calling the initial decision a “lapse of judgement.”

A handful of other celebrities, including Welsh singer Charlotte Church, have also turned down invitations to perform at any of Trump’s inaugural celebrations.

Rebecca Ferguson, Season 7 runner-up of the British “X Factor,” said she would only perform if she could sing the song “Strange Fruit,” which she said “speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States.”

Meanwhile, “America’s Got Talent” star Jackie Evancho will be performing at the inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20.

Nicole Kidman Clarifies Her Controversial ‘Support’ For Donald Trump In New Interview

Nicole Kidman is clarifying her controversial comments encouraging all Americans to accept President-elect Donald Trump in a new interview.

The “Lion” actress came under fire this week for declaring that it’s time to support the reality-TV-host-turned-politician now that he’s been elected because “that’s what the country’s based on.”

Many considered Kidman’s statements to be dismissive of the potential problems of a Trump presidency, especially in light of her “Hours” co-star Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes appeal to “safeguard the truth” during this political moment.

“I was trying to stress that I believe in democracy and the American Constitution, and it was that simple,” she told Access Hollywood on Saturday.

When asked to comment further on the backlash, the Oscar-actress refused to elaborate on her stance. “I’m out of it now,” she added. “That’s what I said and it’s that simple.”

Speaking with the BBC in her initial interview, Kidman explained that she was “reticent to start commenting politically” and prefers to keep her opinions about U.S. and Australian politics to herself. Kidman, who was born in Hawaii, is a dual citizen of both countries.

However, the actress maintained that her passion for advocating for women’s rights like the fight against ovarian and breast cancer remains resolute.

“I’m issue-based,” she said. “I’m very, very committed to women’s issues.”

Kidman is currently starring in “Lion,” which is in theaters now.

Artist Turns Donald Trump’s Most Controversial Quotes Into Comic Book Covers

An artist is giving President-elect Donald Trump’s most outrageous comments the comic book treatment.

Cartoonist Robert Sikoryak is transforming several of the controversial and offensive statements that Trump made during the presidential election campaign into eye-catching and thought-provoking illustrations.

“The idea occurred to me right before the election,” the New York City-based artist told The Huffington Post on Saturday.  Trump had said so many outrageous things during his campaign that I wanted to catalogue them.”

“It was important to me to only use Trump’s actual quotes, I didn’t want to put any words in his mouth,” he added. “Once Trump became the president-elect, I felt I had to do it.”

Sikoryak’s work has previously appeared on the cover pages of The New Yorker magazine and the Harvard Business Review. He has also transformed Apple’s iTunes terms of service into comic parodies.

For this project, titled “The Unquotable Trump,” he has compiled the images into a mini-comic. He’s also posting them on a dedicated Tumblr page.

“The reaction has been very enthusiastic, much more so than I expected,” Sikoryak told HuffPost. “I needed to get these comics out of my system, so it’s gratifying that other people have been enjoying them.”

Check out more of his Trump-themed comic book covers below and see his other work via his website, Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter accounts.

Nicole Kidman Thinks It’s Time All Americans Start Supporting Donald Trump

It sounds like Nicole Kidman is keeping her eyes wide shut when it comes to the many potential problems of a Donald Trump presidency.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is a dual citizen of both the United States and Australia, caused some controversy this week when she encouraged Americans to accept and support the reality-TV-host-turned-politician now that he’s been elected.

“I’m always reticent to start commenting politically; I’ve never done it in terms of America or Australia. I’m issue-based,” Kidman explained in a wide-ranging interview with BBC Two about her film “Lion.” “So I just say, he’s now elected, and we as a country need to support whosever the president because that’s what the country’s based on.”

“Whatever, however that happened, he’s there, and let’s go,” she added.

Kidman went on to explain that, regardless of who’s in power, she will continue to support causes like women’s health. However, she didn’t seem to make the connection that those are the very rights that will be under attack when Trump takes office in January.

“I’m very, very committed to women’s issues in terms of I do a lot of fundraising for U.N. Women and I do a lot of traveling for them,” Kidman said. “I also do an enormous amount of fundraising for breast and ovarian cancer, because that’s something that’s affected my family deeply. So they’re my issues that I’m very attached to.”

Kidman’s comments strike a very different tone than her “Hours” co-star Meryl Streep’s speech at the 74th Annual Golden Globes on Sunday. While accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the actress implored Hollywood ― Kidman was also in the room ― and those watching at home to help “safeguard the truth” by challenging Trump’s attack on the press, foreigners and the entertainment industry.

Apparently, someone missed the memo.

A Song For The President-Elect: Donald J. Twitter

Some folks spent January 1, 2017 nursing hangovers and watching college football. I spent it writing a song about President-elect Donald J. Trump and his increasingly dangerous Twitter habit. I’m not sure that my song, Donald J. Twitter, will land me a spot on the bill with Ted Nugent and Kid Rock at Trump’s upcoming inauguration, but one never knows.

DONALD J. TWITTER
(M. Farmer)

CHORUS
Hey, Kellyanne, give me my phone
I’m gonna need some time alone
You know I always do my best work on the shitter
And I don’t need Meet the Press or my own Gettysburg Address
When I can climb upon my throne
And get on Twitter

VERSE
Let’s go to @realdonaldtrump
Where my old brain can take a dump
And talk about the issues of the day
From pathetic SNL to amazing Israel
When I’m on the stump
Just watch me fire away

You know it’s anybody’s guess
As to when some global mess
Is gonna overwhelm my short attention span
Oh, but I’ll be there to tweet; I’ve gotta give my base red meat
That is unless
I switch to Instagram

REPEAT CHORUS

VERSE
Well, my favorite way to tweet
Is to pick on some elite
And call him lots of kindergarten names
If he’s a third-rate loser clown, well, that’s the way I’ll take him down
Just bring the heat
Until he goes up in flames

And women ain’t immune
From the wrath of this tycoon
I’ve got 140 characters of hate
So if some beauty queen gets fat, I don’t grab her by the cat
I just lampoon
Her ever-changing weight

REPEAT CHORUS x2

Forget Donald Trump: Pokémon Go Was King Of 2016

The question at the top of many Americans’ minds in 2016 might surprise you.

In a year that boasted both a presidential election and the Olympic Games, the top question people were searching for on Google was actually, “What is Pokémon Go?” This data, recently released by Google, is based on searches that began with “What is…” and had the highest spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2016 as compared to 2015.

So, why all the curiosity? After launching on July 6, Pokémon Go became possibly one of the most viral mobile apps of the year. It immediately attracted old-school Pokémon fans and newcomers alike. Similar to the original concept of the game, the mobile app allows players to virtually track and capture wild Pokémon in real life.

Here are the other top “What is…” questions people were searching for in 2016:

2. “What is a caucus?”

A caucus occurs when registered members of a political party meet to elect a political candidate for their respective party. A total of sixteen states hold caucuses to select political candidates, with Iowa holding the first and most influential caucuses. The Iowa caucuses took place on February 1 this year, resulting in a win for Hillary Clinton on the Democratic side, and a win for Ted Cruz on the Republican side.

3. “What is Brexit?”

Brexit, also known as the British Exit, refers to the United Kingdom’s vote to leave the European Union on June 23. The vote to exit, which only won by a slim margin, came as a shock to many and caused the British pound to fall to its lowest value in decades. Interestingly, Google searches for Brexit spiked after the vote took place.

4. “What is the Electoral College?”

The Electoral College is made up of 538 electors. Every state gets one elector for each of their members in the House of Representatives and two for each of their Senate members. On December 19, the Electoral College officially voted for Donald Trump as president of the United States.

5. “What are electoral votes?”

A majority of 270 electoral votes is needed to elect the president of the United States. When the Electoral College cast its votes on December 19, Donald Trump earned a total of 304 votes, while Hillary Clinton received 227.

6. “What is Aleppo?”

Aleppo, once the largest city in Syria, has been subjected to extreme violence due to battles between the Syrian government and rebel forces. In July, assistance with food and medical supplies was cut off as fighting in Aleppo intensified, causing conditions to worsen and putting the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians at risk. On December 22, the Syrian army announced that it had taken back control of all of Aleppo, “ending four years of rebel resistance in the northern Syrian city,” Reuters reported

This search query also likely spiked due to Gary Johnson, who infamously asked, “What is Aleppo?” during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

7. “What is the mannequin challenge?”

The mannequin challenge is a viral video trend in which people are challenged to stand still ~like a mannequin~ while the camera moves through a scene. Searches for this spiked in October, when the first mannequin challenge video went viral on Twitter.

We think Ellen Degeneres pretty much nailed it though.

#MannequinChallenge

A video posted by Ellen (@theellenshow) on

8. “What is the European Union?”

The European Union is a political union comprised of 28 countries. The union benefits from certain membership privileges and also is subjected to binding laws and regulations. The union’s members must agree unanimously to policies concerning foreign affairs and defense. Google searches for the European Union spiked after the Brexit vote

9. “What is Citizens United?”

Citizens United refers to a law case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, which addresses organizations’ campaign spending. Google searches for the case spiked in July, right around when Hillary Clinton pledged a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United in her first 30 days should she be elected president.

10. “What is a Superdelegate?”

A Superdelegate is an “unpledged delegate to the Democratic convention.” In other words, a Superdelegate is not required to abide by the results of the caucuses or primaries, and can support any candidate of their choosing at the convention. It appears Google searches for this question spiked right around the New Hampshire primaries, when there appeared to be general confusion as to why the delegate count between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton was so close

EXCLUSIVE: PUTIN’S CHRISTMAS DAY PHONE CALL TO DONALD TRUMP

Blogger’s note. On December 25, 1991, less than two hours before announcing his resignation as president of a Soviet Union that was breaking up into a commonwealth of independent republics, Mikhail Gorbachev telephoned President George H.W. Bush to say how much he had appreciated working with him for the sake of international order, how ready he was to see Boris Yeltsin succeed him as leader of Russia, and how much he expected that leaders of all the former Soviet republics–especially Russia–would “move forward with recognition and respect for the sovereignty that each has.” Since the New York Times has just published a transcript of this final phone conversation between Gorbachev and G.H.W. Bush , I’m happy to furnish a transcript (brilliantly hacked by an operative known to me only as Shaggy Bear) of the first telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin, current President of the Russian Federation, and President-elect Donald Trump. By remarkable coincidence, this conversation also occurred on Christmas Day.

VLADIMIR VLADIMIROVICH PUTIN: Donald, my dear friend. It is good to hear your voice.

D.T. And yours too, Didi–because this call tells me how much you love me. You know it’s amazing how many world leaders have been calling lately. They all love me. It’s just a beautiful thing. A beautiful thing to be loved by so many important and powerful people, even though–between you and me, Didi, you understand?–some of them are not really so beautiful as you and I are. Believe me, I’ve seen those pics of your bare pecs. You’re really ripped! Who’s your trainer?

V.V.P. We’ll get to that, Donald. One thing at a time. Let me first wish you and your whole family a Merry Christmas–in the face and in the teeth of the war against Christmas that I’m told is raging over there in America. You won’t get any weasel words from me–no Happy Holidays or Best Wishes of the Season. You and I believe in Christmas, in Christianity, and for us the only war to be fought at Christmas time or anytime is the war against Muslims–right? That’s where we stand together and fight together. The fewer Muslims there are in Russia, in Chechnya, in America, and everywhere else, the merrier the whole world will be. The merriest thing we could do is get rid of them all. So Merry Christmas, my friend!

D.T. Couldn’t have said it better myself! Merry Christmas to you too. And before I forget, I can’t thank you enough for siccing your hackers on the Democratic National Committee here and hanging out all those files like Christmas stockings to show just how hard the DNC tried to sink Bernie Sanders and prop up Crooked Hillary. Cozy Bear and Fancy Bear–cuddly cubs of the great Russian bear! Tell those cubs how much I love them both, because of course I know how much they love me. They did great things for my campaign. HUUUUGE.

V.V.D. You’re very welcome, Donald. And I can’t tell you how warmly I welcome your election to the presidency. Because I know you can help us solve a lot of problems quickly. Just making Rex Tillerson Secretary of State will be a great start.

D.T. Right you are, Didi. I know that Rex has become a great friend of yours, and believe me, I’m just as eager as he is to help you drill for oil in Siberia. Doing that would be a huge win for both of us. HUUUUGE. All we have to do–all I have to do– is scrap the fucking sanctions. And I can tell you that’s up at the top of my list, right up there with repealing Obamacare, gutting the EPA, ending the war on Christmas, and ending the war on coal.

By the way, you know as well as I do why we imposed the sanctions in the first place: because a few politically correct pinheads over here and in the UN didn’t like what you did in Crimea and Ukraine. Look, Didi, as far as I’m concerned, Crimea is much better off under your great leadership than it ever was before, and I would say the same about all Ukraine, not just the part that your people have so far heroically liberated from its corrupt and incompetent leaders. All this nonsense about respecting the independence of your neighbors. Garbage! You should never have been sanctioned at all for adopting Crimea and getting into Ukraine. You should be rewarded for making them great again! And rewarding you is just what I plan to do once I get into the White House. #nomore sanctions #fullscaledrillinginSiberia #fulltwitterspeedahead!

V.V.D. Thank you so much, Donald. It’s amazing how much we think alike.

D.T. And I’ll tell you where else we think alike, Didi: Syria. What you’ve done over there is beautiful, just beautiful. Along with Assad, you’ve just about wiped out the opposition. Thanks to your bombing, they’re out of Aleppo at last–I mean those that survived, of course. And Aleppo now presents a golden opportunity: ruins as far as the eye can see. Those ruins will have to be REBUILT! If only I were thirty years younger–hell, twenty years younger–I’d be over there in a flash raising new Trump towers all over town.

You know, the crazy thing about our dealings with Syria is that we’ve spent hundreds of millions of dollars–hell, billions–funding the opposition when we don’t even know who the hell they are, except we do know that some of them are Al Qaeda and a lot of them are terrorists. We tried to find and train the so-called “moderate” opposition and ended up getting nowhere. There is no moderate opposition in Syria. There’s the government and its enemies, who are all mixed up with terrorists. And you and I know which side we’re on.

Let me tell you, Didi. I like strong leaders like you and Assad, guys who know how to crush their enemies and stay in power. And I like leaders who go after radical Islamic terrorists, because just about the only thing I hate worse than those terrorists is crooked Hillary.

V.V.D. What can I say, Donald–except that I’m freshly amazed by how much we agree?

D.T. But there’s just one little thing, Didi. One thing we might disagree on.

V.V.D. And what is that, Donald?

D.T. Nukes.

V.V.D. Nukes? What’s the problem? Just because our RS-24 Yars Intercontinental Ballistic Missile can strike you anywhere in the U.S. with ten independently targetable nuclear warheads, you’re getting nervous, Donald?

D.T. Didi, something tells me this could be the beginning of a beautiful arms race.

V.V.D. Da, Mr. President. You’re absolutely right. Crappy New Year!
