Former Harper’s Bazaar Australia EIC Kellie Hush to Launch Accessories Brand

SYDNEY — After nearly a quarter of a century covering luxury goods through various roles at Australian fashion magazines, Australian editor Kellie Hush is taking aim at the fast-fashion arena via her own accessibly priced accessories line.
On May 24, nine months after the former Harper’s Bazaar Australia editor in chief revealed she was quitting after six years to start her own business, Hush will launch a line of handbags and jewelry called The Way via an e-commerce site, with plans to open five freestanding 800- to 1,100-square-foot brick-and-mortar stores in the Sydney region by the end of the year and 50 stores across Australia within five years.
The store concept has been created by Australian interior designer Rebecca Vulic, a former senior director of global store design for Kate Spade New York.

Harper’s Bazaar Australia Editor in Chief Kellie Hush Quits to Launch Fashion Venture

SYDNEY – Harper’s Bazaar Australia editor in chief Kellie Hush said Saturday she will step down from her position after six years to launch “a unique fashion brand.”
Hush will leave the magazine on Aug. 31, with the September edition her final issue.
Deputy editor and beauty/features editor Eugenie Kelly will take over as acting editor.
A representative for publisher Bauer Media confirmed Hush has resigned but declined to comment further, noting the company will be releasing a statement on Monday.
“I’m not Anna Wintour,” said Hush, “but I think people start speculating about [editors] moving on and I made the decision, it was a personal decision, I’m doing something really exciting which I want to do.”
She added of her abrupt exit, which surprised the fashion industry, “When I spoke to my publisher Fiorella Di Santo [after resigning on Friday], I was very clear I wanted to control the message. The business is in great shape, we have just smashed our September budget for advertising. At this stage our sales are up 13 percent on budget, which in this kind of market is smashing it. I wanted to leave on my own terms.”
Hush declined to disclose any other details about her new venture, other

Victoria Beckham is Selling Some of Harper’s Clothes

Victoria Beckham went through daughter Harper‘s closet to pick 25 full outfits that will be sold next weekend to benefit Save the Children, reports Grazia.

As a Beckham, Harper’s guaranteed to have a chic closet and this lot proves the point (think Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Gucci, and more). Since the little outfits come pre-paired and styled, here’s an interesting opportunity to see how VB puts clothes together. The clothing is all tot-sized, of course, but there’s a grown-up lesson to be found in the sophisticated combos.

It’s not the first time Posh has purged closets for charity—she donated 600 of her own pieces last summer, though she was sure to set aside some items with nostalgia value for Harper. The upcoming June sale, held in London’s Primrose Hill neighborhood, will feature some items from another Spice Girl offspring as well. Mel C. (Sporty!) donated some pieces as well.
