Pitti Immagine to Mark 30th Anniversary With Dedicated Stamp

PITTI’S STAMP: Pitti Immagine, the organizer behind the Pitti Uomo men’s wear trade show, is marking its 30th anniversary this year and to celebrate the milestone, Italy’s minister of economic development will issue a dedicated commemorative stamp.
Created by designer Italo Lupi, the stamp bears the black writing “Pitti Immagine 30 Anni [30 Years]” against a gray background and is crossed by colorful lines reminiscent of stitching and seams.
The stamp will be presented at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday during the inauguration event of the 95th edition of Pitti Uomo — the first day the stamp will be authorized for use. Pitti Uomo will run Jan. 8 to 11.
“Thirty years ago, the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana started using the Pitti Immagine name … We wanted to remember this anniversary with an official event and nothing is more official than a stamp, a paper rectangle treasuring a discreet fascination and aura as something linked to history, even in the era of non-material communication and liquid society,” said Raffaello Napoleone, chief executive officer of Pitti Immagine.
Flanking the issue of the commemorative stamp, Pitti will also mount “The Fashion Mailbox” exhibition, exploring the relationship between fashion and stamps from the 19th century

Pitti Immagine Names New Tutorship Director

MILAN — Pitti Tutorship, Pitti Immagine’s business division aimed at supporting emerging designers in the development of their brands, appointed Luca Rizzi its new director, effective immediately.
Succeeding Riccardo Vannetti, who left Pitti Immagine in June to join Salvatore Ferragamo as chief marketing officer, Rizzi, 34, worked for several fashion companies, including Tomorrow Ltd. and Metradamo, prior to joining Milan-based fashion consultancy Lagente in 2011 and then funding his own agency, called Creative and More, in 2014.
“With this appointment we kick off a strategy aimed at reinforcing what we have done with Pitti Tutorship from 2012 to today,” said Pitti Immagine chief executive officer Raffaello Napoleone. “We are also creating a group of professionals supporting our team,” he added, citing Franco Penè, honorary chairman of Onward Luxury Group, and fashion education guru Linda Loppa, as the new members of the Pitti Tutorship advisory board.
As part of Pitti Tutorship’s effort, British designer Eleanor McDonald, who in June scooped up the ITS Award for best collection, will present a special capsule collection at Pitti Uomo, which will run in Florence Jan. 8 to 11.
In addition, due to the support of Pitti Tutorship and ICE, the Italian trade agency, Italian emerging brand Ice Surface Temperature, designed

Pitti Immagine Cancels Exhibition Curated by Stefano Pilati

Pitti Immagine said on Tuesday it cancelled the “Evolution — Involution — Revolution. Three decades of men’s fashion as seen by Stefano Pilati” exhibition, which was supposed to be inaugurated during the 94th edition of Pitti Uomo, opening in Florence on June 12.
In a statement, the trade show organizer said that exhibition was cancelled due to “curator Stefano Pilati’s binding commitments.” No further details were provided.
After he left the Ermenegildo Zegna Group in February 2016, Pilati took to Instagram Stories in June and January to showcase images of its personal project, called Random Identities, which hasn’t been officially launched yet.
Pitti Immagine said that instead of Pilati’s exhibition, the Pitti Discovery Foundation will present “Fanatic Feelings – Fashion Plays Football,” an exhibit curated by magazines Achtung Mode and Sepp Football Fashion’s founder Markus Ebner and Italian art curator Francesco Bonami.
Promoted by the Florentine Center for Italian fashion and Pitti Immagine and supported by The Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Italian trade agency ICE, the exhibition, opening on June 12 at the Santa Maria Novella complex, will put the accent on the tight relationship between soccer and fashion and how the legendary sport influenced the development of men’s collective imagination.
