Jason Wu Celebrates Fragrance Anniversary With Scented Doll

Jason Wu is going back to his roots to celebrate his year-old namesake fragrance.
Launching today exclusively at Net-a-porter, the designer is releasing his first scented doll. While he has designed dolls for his brand in the past and worked as a doll designer with Integrity Toys before launching his line, this limited-edition doll is his first scented product, taking inspiration from the fragrance itself and the dress he designed for model Lily Aldridge, who serves as the face of the fragrance, for the 2017 CFDA Awards.
“I started my career designing dolls about 15 years ago and it was my first career before fashion,” Wu said. “[The scented doll] is a nice way to combine that with what I’ve been doing in fashion and fragrance, which is relatively new to me. It’s combining three facets of my career.”
Manufactured with Wu’s longtime partner Integrity Toys, the doll comes wearing a miniature version of the dress Wu designed for Aldridge, which is a pinkish nude tulle dress embroidered with Swarovski crystals, complete with matching heels, earrings and a miniature version of the fragrance bottle. Three hundred units will be created for the doll, which will be sold with a 3-oz. bottle of the

Grey Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2018

During a preview of the Grey Jason Wu pre-fall collection, Wu made clear the difference between his two lines: “Grey is the casual, off-duty weekend version of Jason Wu, which is always much dressier.” Grey’s prices are lower and there’s a more relaxed ease than the main line, but inter-brand synergy is clear and Grey packs a lot of look for the contemporary positioning. Wu let a mannish, Hepburn attitude influence wide-leg trousers, striped shirting in a nice dense yet soft twill and tailored blazers and a great convertible trench that could be zipped off into a cropped jacket. Slipdresses — a main line staple — came in plain but chic silhouettes in wrinkle-free jersey, and more elaborately cut dresses were done in printed dévoré. There were plenty of knits, T-shirts and stylish sweats to keep essential wardrobe components covered.

Jason Bateman’s Wife Accuses Hotelier André Balazs of Groping Her

Jason Bateman’s wife Amanda Anka is among those accusing famous hotelier André Balazs of sexual misconduct in a New York Times report published Thursday.

Through their mutual representative, Bateman and Anka confirmed that Balazs, who owns celebrity hotspots like the Standard, the Mercer in London and Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, Calif, groped Anka’s crotch in Nov. 2014.

The couple were allegedly celebrating the release of Bateman’s film Horrible Bosses 2 at Balazs’s hotel, the Chiltern Firehouse in London, with the hotelier and some of their costars, including Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day.

According to the Times, Balazs insisted the group visit an upstairs room only accessible by a firehouse-style ladder in order to see a better view of the city. Anka, who was wearing a leather dress, was hesitant about climbing the stairs, but Balazs allegedly insisted. Once on the ladder, he allegedly reached his hand up her dress and groped her crotch.

Day’s wife, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, told the Times, “I witnessed behavior by André Balazs that was inappropriate and offensive.”

Anka allegedly told the group what had happened, causing Bateman and his colleagues to become “visibly upset,” the Times reports. Back downstairs, Bateman allegedly spit his gum in Balazs face before leaving the hotel quickly with his wife.

“On behalf of Jason Bateman and Amanda Anka, we can confirm that the account of André Balazs’s outrageous and vile behavior on that night in London is factual,” Bateman and Anka’s publicist said in a statement to the outlet. “His actions were dealt with at the time.”

Balazs, who has dated celebrities like Uma Thurman and Chelsea Handler, has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women since Harvey Weinstein’s alleged bad behavior has surfaced, according to the Times.

A former employee named Sarah, who worked at the Chateau Marmont in the early 1990s, told the Times that her former boss pinned her against a wall, covered her mouth and “pushed his fingers in her vagina” at a club after the two had dinner together.

“I just froze,” she said. Another former employee said that Balazs pinned her in an elevator and tried to kiss her, but she was able to escape.

Elodie Trouche, one of Balazs’s personal assistants for two years beginning in 2011, said she did not witness inappropriate behavior. “He was professional and polite,” she said. “It was about doing the job.”

But a 26-year-old female media executive also said Balazs touched her without her consent. The woman said that the hotelier, whom she did not know well, grabbed her crotch at a party. “I was humiliated,” she said.

The woman told her roommate about the alleged incident, according to the Times, but regrets not saying anything in the moment.

Grey Jason Wu RTW Spring 2018

It’s been a year since Jason Wu launched his second, more casual collection Grey Jason Wu, yet spring 2018 was his first official presentation. He explained that it just felt right to do it now. “Grey is about Jason Wu off duty,” he said at his presentation. “It’s much more relaxed. I always say that Jason Wu is my aesthetic and Grey Jason Wu is my personality.” In other words, it’s safe to say that Grey focuses on the everyday wardrobe of his woman, on pieces that she can wear to the office and on weekends. Wu said he wanted to address the need to have chic choices, with a real design sensibility, quality materials and a timeless attitude. For example, there were washed silk dresses with engineered ruffled details; knit dresses worn under parkas; oversized sweaters over rompers; leather caramel shorts with wrap shirts, and a great white crepe suit. And of course there was a silk top with clear paillettes, because, “How do I not do an embellishment?” he quipped.

Jason Wu Fetes Fragrance With Intimate Dinner

“I just want to be a housewife hosting dinner parties and making beautiful perfume,” Jason Wu smiled as guests mingled over fig sangrias.
The gathering Friday night was to celebrate Wu’s fragrance launch in an intimate setting with close friends, like Stacey Jordan Cook, who hosted the dinner at her TriBeCa loft. As waiters carried around handcrafted cocktails, guests admired the colorful floral arrangements brought from Wu’s spring show earlier in the day.
“Beauty is an arena I’ve wanted to be in,” Wu said on creating the fragrance. “I’ve done a lot of beauty collaborations and I’ve never been shy about saying beauty is such a part of my DNA. When I had the opportunity to launch my fragrance with my 10th anniversary, I couldn’t say no.”
Lily Aldridge, who is the face of the fragrance, came to the dinner still wearing the nail art from Wu’s show, which was a design mimicking the fragrance bottle.
“For years we were saying we’re going to work together and finally [the fragrance] came and it was perfect timing,” she said. “I love perfume. Even if I don’t put makeup on or I don’t have time to do my hair, just putting on a fragrance makes you

Man Vows To Eat Jason Segel’s Picture Every Day Until Actor Eats His

Chew on this: A Toronto man wants a taste of celebrity and he’ll stomach anything to get it.

Noah Maloney, who posts YouTube videos under the tasteful and not-gross-at-all moniker of “Dog Shit,” has vowed to eat a picture of actor Jason Segel every day until the actor returns the, well, you can’t really call it a favor.

Maloney posted his first video on Thursday and he spends four minutes and 21 seconds chewing on Segel’s headshot.

HuffPost has reached out to Maloney and Segel to get their reactions, but both have kept their lips sealed thus far.

The complete video is above, but you can watch the best parts through the magic of “GIF-arama.”

Here he is taking his first bites.

Now he’s working on the head.

You can’t eat that much fibrous paper without a water break.

Keeping your mouth closed when chewing up a photo of actor Jason Segel is the epitome of good manners.

Of course, when your nose itches, it’s hard not to scratch.

Mmmm, the last bite is just as good as the first (which probably wasn’t that good to begin with).

WU’S WEDDED BLISS: Despite Instagramming the news of his wedding Saturday to his longtime partner Gustavo Rangel, Jason Wu preferred to keep the details of their celebration private. The designer and Rangel jetted to Tulum, Mexico, for the friends-and-family affair. The pair first met at a friend’s New Year’s Eve party in 2005, and their first date happened months later at “Mary Poppins.” Wu sounded as though he was still airborne, posting, “This weekend I celebrated one of the happiest days of my life. I got married to @tavonyc and I feel like the luckiest person in the world.”
The festivities at the Hotel Esencia included Diane Kruger, Bryanboy and Jennifer Fisher. Wu thanked his “amazing friends” without naming them, but he did single out his parents, “Hank and Jennifer and my brother and sister Kevin and Migumi for being the most loving, supportive and special people in my life. But the tequila and Champagne had stopped flowing by Monday, when Wu and Rangel, who is chief financial officer of the designer’s company, were back at work in their New York office.

Jason Lee Says ‘Mallrats’ Was His ‘Biggest Letdown’

In 1995, Jason Lee was known more for being a professional skateboarder than making America laugh. Then “Mallrats,” a cult classic, came along, and Lee was never the same. And, despite its cultural status today, the box-office flop almost turned Lee off acting right when his career had just begun.

“Back then, I was coming up on 25 and feeling like maybe I’m done with [skateboarding],” Lee told host Ricky Camilleri in a HuffPost Live interview Thursday. “I had done ‘Mallrats’ and I thought maybe I would try to sort of gracefully get out of skating and overstay my welcome and try to do this movie thing. And then, lo and behold, when ‘Mallrats’ came out, three people saw it. It absolutely bombed.”

Lee, however, never went back. He went on to star in another beloved movie, “Chasing Amy,” and then onto the blockbuster “Enemy of the State” in 1998. The well-traveled actor might be most known for his role as title character in “My Name Is Earl,” which aired for four seasons from 2005 to 2009 on NBC.

Twenty years after that first role in “Mallrats,” Lee looks back fondly on those times. He remembers how excited he was to be a part of the movie and the naive confidence he had that the movie would be a smash hit. He wasn’t the only one hurt, either, when the movie didn’t make money; director Kevin Smith even changed his answering machine recording to properly reflect his feelings.

“‘Mallrats’ was the biggest letdown, though. It was, ‘Mom, I’m in a movie, can you believe it? Do you know how many people are going to see this and laugh and have so much fun?’ [And then] crickets,” Lee said with a laugh. “I think Kevin left an outgoing message on the production office’s answering machine after ‘Mallrats’ came out and bombed. ‘Hey, this is Kevin. We can’t get to the phone right now. We’re too busy licking our wounds.'”

Sundance So Far: Adam Scott & Jason Schwartzman’s Fake Penises, Ethan Hawke’s Latest Dad & ‘The Witch’

Last time on Sundance So Far, we discussed “The Bronze” and other movies that opened the festival. Temperatures dropped to 18 degrees at sundown in Park City, Utah, on Day 2 of Sundance. Parkas were out and crowds were thick at some of the most anticipated films of the opening weekend. The press screening for “Z for Zachariah,” filled up two hours before the film began, and Jason Segel stunned audiences as David Foster Wallace at the world premiere of “The End of the Tour.” We’ll write about both of those films shortly, but here are the other titles HuffPost Entertainment editor Matthew Jacobs and Los Angeles senior editor Sasha Bronner caught on Friday:

“Stockholm, Pennsylvania”
Written and directed by Nikole Beckwith
Starring Saoirse Ronan, Jason Isaacs and Cynthia Nixon

stockholm

There is more than initially meets the eye in the post-kidnapping drama about a young woman, played by Saoirse Ronan (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”), who is returned to her home after being held captive in a basement for the majority of her life.

Taken from a park when she was 4 years old raised by her kidnapper (played by Jason Isaacs), the extent of what her character knows about the world can be held in the palm of her hand.

The film’s intentional use of claustrophobia does the trick. When Ronan sticks her head out of her bedroom window and, we presume, feels rain for the first time, you too feel her wonder and her innocence.

But this is not an innocent film. Cynthia Nixon, who plays Ronan’s mother, is understandably emotional when her daughter returns home and does her very best to help the family acclimate to their suddenly different circumstances (think “trust falls”). But the people of the town stare. And they discover that their missing daughter doesn’t know when her real birthday is, doesn’t remember them at all and actually thinks that her name is Leia — “named after a Princess,” she tells her parents on her first afternoon home.

The psychological phenomenon Stockholm syndrome describes the common scenario of a captive feeling protective, loving and sympathetic to their captor. Ronan’s character visits the man who took her only once in jail and after telling him that she doesn’t know how to do anything in the real world, she also says she doesn’t know what the worst thing is that’s happened to her — spending her life with him, or spending the rest of it without him.

When she asks if he regrets it, he answers that it takes the same amount of effort to run in place or to run a mile, and he would rather see the mile.

A startling twist (which, of course, we will not ruin for you) turns everything inside out. Filmmaker Nikole Beckwith presents a quiet and powerful debut feature that succeeds in redefining what captivity means as well as tilting the kaleidoscope of identity and love ninety degrees on its side.

Stay tuned: Saoirse Ronan gets more screen time at the festival — she also stars in the 1950s drama “Brooklyn,” written by Nick Hornby, as an Irish-American immigrant attempting to choose between love and her place in the world. — SB

“The Overnight”
Written and directed by Patrick Brice
Starring Taylor Schilling, Adam Scott, Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche

overnight

Two delights of Friday’s Sundance came in Patrick Brice’s very funny “The Overnight.” First, Adam Scott and Taylor Schilling, playing a couple looking for friends after moving to Los Angeles, smoke weed with another couple (Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche) who invite them over for what appears to be an innocent playdate for their children. They are a riot as bumbling stoners who conjure up a candidness foreign to their lives as young parents during what turns out to be a quite propulsive gathering. Later, Scott and Schwartzman prance around naked for a solid chunk of the film, for reasons I’d rather you discover on your own. Just know that both actors wear prosthetics, and the size of the genitals on display is an uproarious part of the plot.

“The Overnight” is just bawdy enough to be something of a sex comedy, but it’s nothing if not a tactful tale of a rowdy, confused couple befriending the innocent newcomers from their neighborhood park. The playdate — billed as a simple pizza night at their palatial home — turns into an all-night affair with increasingly bizarre results. There’s a slight dip in the film’s energy toward the end as the dramatic underpinnings of the foursome’s lives unfold, but it doesn’t take away from the sharp performances and clever writing this film boasts. Now where should we mail our smoke-out invitation for Scott and Schilling? — MJ

*****

“The Witch”
Written and directed by Robert Eggers
Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Kate Dickie, Ralph Ineson, Harvey Scrimshaw, Lucas Dawson and Ellie Grainger

the witch

Today’s horror landscape is bleak. The reliance on gratuitous violence and uninventive scare tactics is more of a nightmare than any of the stories being depicted onscreen. Yet every year a few movies break through the gore to channel the worldly panic that horror is meant to showcase. This year, one of those is “The Witch,” a movie that became one of Day 2’s buzziest Sundance titles. (To wit: A24 is nearing a deal to distribute “The Witch.”)

Set in 1630 New England, “The Witch” is a stylish chiller about a devoutly Christian family whose infant vanishes. Their crops fail and they begin accusing one another of occultism — all while a witch creeps through the depths of the woods that surround their home. The movie seems talky at first, but let these irascible colonials work through their muddy family dynamics, from the mother’s grief-stricken instability to the father’s sympathy for her daughter after his wife accuses her of witchcraft. This is eerie filmmaking at its finest, which is all the more remarkable considering Robert Eggers is a first-time director. By the time their paranoia reaches peak levels, this family of six can barely stomach the sight of one another, so wracked with the panic that haunts their countenance. As if Mark Korven’s strings-heavy score weren’t enough eerie enough, know that the film is pieced together using actual journals (including specific conversations) that chronicled the witchcraft that took place in the 17th century. — MJ

*****

“Ten Thousand Saints”
Written and drected by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini
Starring Ethan Hawke, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Emile Hirsch and Emily Mortimer

ten thousand

Who doesn’t want to see Ethan Hawke as a burner, weed-selling, dysfunctional father with a heart of gold? Apparently no one, because the premiere of his new film “Ten Thousand Saints” was sold out Friday evening at the Sundance Film Festival. Hawke stars alongside Emily Mortimer, Hailee Steinfeld, Emile Hirsch and
Asa Butterfield, and is the center of an off-kilter family dealing with an actual tragedy and also the general tragedy of growing up.

Set in the 1980s, first in Vermont and then in the East Village in New York City, the film is dripping with teen angst, drugs and rock and roll. Actually, teen angst, weed, cocaine, mushrooms, plenty of huffing and punk rock, to be exact. There are Hare Krishnas, tattoos, protests in New York City and a genre of the hardcore punk scene called “straight edge” where abstinence and sobriety are encouraged.

The teen stars of the film are its strength, carrying their angst like a heavy duffle bag thrown in the corner of every room they enter. But there is a lot packed into the story and there may just be too many protagonists involved for many viewers’ tastes. We probably aren’t supposed to, but in some ways end up rooting the most for Hawke in all his flawed attempts at being a decent father.

Filmmaking duo Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini work as a team writing, directing and editing and are best known for “American Splendor” (2003), “The Nanny Diaries” (2007) and “Cinema Verite” (2011). The two were nominated for an Academy Award in 2003 for their writing of “American Splendor.”

The writing in “Ten Thousand Saints” gives Hawke room to make audiences laugh with his idea of good parenting and one of the most awkward father-son talks we have seen. In a surprisingly poignant moment, he reveals to his son (played by Butterfield) one of his observations about the world and about family: “Women make their decisions and men are just trying not to be men. The whole system needs looking over.”

Young Millenials will flock to the film if they are looking for an indie, hipster coming of age story with plenty of bad decisions and always, of course, the promise of love. — SB

Jason Momoa’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Audition Tape Is Better Than You’d Imagine

Khal Drogo is no doubt a beast of a man, so it would only make sense that Jason Momoa’s “Game of Thrones” audition tape would take that to the max.

In the audition tape, which was originally uploaded to YouTube in 2012, but has since gained more traction, the actor doesn’t brood or speak Drogo’s native tongue, Dothraki. Instead, Momoa breaks out into a Haka, or an ancestral war cry or dance of the Māori people of New Zealand that was typically performed before battle. The dance is incredibly intense and a bit terrifying — this guy would definitely give you a golden crown if you messed with him.

Back in August when Momoa stopped by AOL, the actor said he was originally given a Drogo scene to read for his audition that consisted of the character menacingly saying “no” over and over (not very exciting). After a suggestion from an actor friend, Momoa decided to try out the Haka for this audition. The aggressive dance, which Momoa described as “not a scene you do before a love scene,” impressed D. B. Weiss and David Benioff so much that they had him come back and perform it for a second time, which is what the above video shows.

Momoa is such a pro at the Haka (he even did it on a beach in 2013) that we wonder if he’ll incorporate it into his Aquaman.

Almost Every Comedian You Love Is In The Trailer For ‘Jason Nash Is Married’

Here’s a combo you don’t often get in a trailer: cameos by tons of comedians you know and love PLUS some truly sage advice about marriage (“One person eats shit and the other person soars like a bird feeding off the lost dreams of the first person…”).

And who do we have to thank for it? Titular comedian, Jason Nash.

Nash wrote and directed “Jason Nash Is Married” based on his web series of the same name and packed it with an amazing cast that includes Busy Philipps, H. Jon Benjamin, Rob Corddry, Andrew Daly, David Koechner, TJ Miller, Patton Oswalt, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, Nick Swardson, Paul F. Tompkins, Matt Walsh and Casey Wilson.

The film is the first feature to be released by Comedy Central’s CC:Studios and it will be available for download on June 24.

Teen’s Impromptu Duet With Jason Mraz Is Pure, Unadultered Magic

In 2011, Alexandra Jarred was turned away from a Jason Mraz performance at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles for being underage. But the dedicated fan wasn’t deterred.

Jarred waited outside the venue, hoping that Mraz would eventually appear, the Burbank Examiner reported. Lucky for her, he did. And when Mraz learned that Jarred’s dream had always been to sing with him, the singer-songwriter responded in the best possible way.

“What song do you want to do?” Mraz said, according to the Examiner.

Jarred fittingly chose “Lucky,” and with Mraz on guitar and her father filming, the magical duet above took place.

“That doesn’t happen to me every day,” Mraz says after the performance.

The video dates back two years, but began popping up online again this week.

The only thing we’re wondering: Is it time for a reunion duet?
