Jenny Fax RTW Fall 2019

Name: Jenny Fax
Main message: Taiwanese designer Shueh Jen-Fang takes fragments of childhood memories and turns them into avant-garde collections. For her latest offering she put her stamp on an innocent picnic, with sweet, pastel lace dresses paired with candy-striped blouses. True to form, nothing was quite as it seemed, with acid-washed denim skorts that were so low-waisted they put on display the granny panties attached underneath. Plush balloon dresses had boning to create voluminous, sculptural shapes, while tweed tops were shrunken into tiny, frill-adorned bandeaus. The show closed with a vinyl puffer coat with a hood that zipped all the way up to create a cartoon-like character, and a white split cape that billowed behind like a pair of angel wings.
The result: The collection struck just the right chord between the bizarre and charmingly unique, a weirdly fun take on a fairy-tale-like dreamscape.

Jenny Fax RTW Spring 2019

Name: Jenny Fax
Main message: “An ordinary girl from a small town is going to buy a flower print dress for her date. That is so romantically sad,” said Shueh Jen-Fang’s show notes. Prone to taking inspiration from childhood themes and experiences, the designer made this collection a grown-up storybook tale. Spanning clown-like jumpsuits with exaggerated shoulders to sweet floral or pastel dresses with huge pockets, it permeated humor. But there were also plenty of less innocent details, like dresses, skirts and long fringed shorts worn with buttons and zippers undone to show the navel, or satin thong underwear attached to the outside of frocks and extending all the way up to the shoulders. Tiny cropped jackets, an oversize, stonewashed denim double-breasted blazer, and mismatched sleeves played with proportion.
The result: As the last show of Tokyo’s spring fashion week, it did not disappoint, cleverly mixing together unique yet wearable pieces with more theatrical, conceptual ones.

Celebrity Pick Jenny Packham Sets Sights on Expansion in a Milestone Year

LONDON — Designer Jenny Packham is best known for her bridal gowns, red carpet sparklers and demure, printed or embellished dresses worn by the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge, but on the rocky terrain of British fashion — where so many companies struggle to survive — she’s also a member of an elite society of long-standing brands.
Her 30-year-old business, which she runs with her husband Mathew Anderson, is independent, profitable and makes its money from clothing — with the business split 50/50 between the eveningwear and bridal collections. She has a healthy wholesale business, a flagship on Mount Street here, and in July opened her first store in China at the Beijing Peninsula Hotel, a 153-square-foot space that carries her bridalwear.
Packham has always stuck to what she does best, and her clients — Emily Blunt, Kate Hudson, Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, Adele, Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie and Kerry Washington — keep coming back for more. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a Packham dress each time she appeared outside St. Mary’s Hospital for her photo op after giving birth.
On the opposite pole of the celebrity spectrum, Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones was also a big fan, with the stylist Patricia

Young Duchesses Don Jenny Packham, Ralph Lauren at Wimbledon

GAME, SET, MATCH: The Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex attended Wimbledon together for the first time on Saturday afternoon to watch the women’s singles final.
Cheers greeted the Duchesses as they took their place in the royal box to watch Serena Williams, finalist and a close friend of Meghan Markle, play Angelique Kerber. Kerber eventually won in two sets and took home the title.
Markle traded in her bateau-neck dresses for a more casual look. She wore wide-leg cream trousers with a blue and white striped shirt by Ralph Lauren. The American label is the official outfitter of the event, supplying a range of uniforms for Wimbledon.
Middleton wore a polka dot cream dress with ruched details by Jenny Packham, a go-to label of the royal, and nude suede heels.

Chatting With Jenny Fleiss and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson

Jenny Fleiss and Alexandra Wilkis Wilson are two experienced entrepreneurs working on separate concepts that are expected to evolve the consumer experience.
At a dinner Wednesday night at Amali in Manhattan, Fleiss said she is still hard at work on her Code Eight project for Walmart Inc. She said she expects to share more insights about the project as early as next week.
Earlier this week, she spoke at the International Council of Shopping Centers Conference in Las Vegas on “The Future of Retail.” The Rent the Runway cofounder told WWD that more and more companies are using data to learn from customers and their shopping behaviors to help shape their next business decision. Subscription-based businesses are one example. Another is how companies can adapt their store location to make better use of the space. At Rent the Runway, Fleiss said the flagship on 15th Street in Manhattan is more than 4,000 square feet. “The store became a service center,” she said, noting that consumers can pick up their rental, drop it off or even try it on, and if their selection doesn’t fit, choose another selection.
Wilkis Wilson is senior vice president for consumer strategy and innovation at Allergan. She hinted at

Jenny Fax RTW Fall 2018

Name: Jenny Fax
Main message: Shueh Jen-Fang showed a collection that juxtaposed the childlike with the ladylike, the innocent with the sexy. Modern versions of Eighties power outfits — puff sleeve blouses with brightly colored pencil skirts — shared the runway with tent-sized pleated shirtdresses and skirts of long, rainbow-colored fringe. While it was toned down compared with some of her previous offerings, it still had her signature humor. Proportion play was a big theme, with cropped shirts shown over lace tops and shoes adorned with buckles of tiny baby shoes. A dress made with a plastic pool float in the shape of a shark proved the designer has not lost her signature irreverence.
The result: As her brand matures, Shueh Jen-Fang is beginning to show her ability to balance her own quirky Tokyo style with wearability and more commercial looks.

Jenny Slate, Ted Danson Celebrate Bird Brooklyn’s First West Coast Store at Platform L.A.

Bird Brooklyn has finally flown the New York coop and landed in Los Angeles. The cult favorite designer boutique, which has four locations in Brooklyn, has opened its first store outside of New York at Platform, Runyon Group’s edgy new retail development in Los Angeles’ Culver City.
The 5,000-square-foot space, one of the largest in the complex, features loft-like ceilings, large plate-glass windows and blonde wood walls and shelves.
“I get to be sort of like an anchor in an exciting new development, which is so cool,” said Bird owner and founder Jen Mankins. “I never would have said yes to being in a ‘retail development’ because it sounds like you’re in a mall, but Runyon reached out to me and once I saw what it was all about, I was, like, ‘I’m in.’”
Bird joins other high-end brands such as Magasin, Janessa Leone, Freda Salvador, Aesop, Poketo, Linda Farrow and Velvet by Graham & Spencer. Among its current pop-ups are Catbird, Pop & Suki and Salt Surf, with Prism and Garmentory coming soon, and it is the creative headquarters for SoulCycle, Criteo and Technicolor.
Among the guests at the opening party were actors Jenny Slate, Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson; singer Agnes Badoo;

Jenny Slate Gets Real About Her Breakup With Chris Evans, Has ‘No Regrets’

Jenny Slate is the first to admit that she and “Captain America” star Chris Evans were an unexpected pairing.

“We used to talk about what kinds of animals we were,” Slate recently told Vulture. “Chris said it’s like I’m a chick riding on a St. Bernard’s head. We’re an odd match.”

The actress, best known for her hilarious roles in “Parks and Recreation,” “Kroll Show” and indie film “Obvious Child,” opened up to the outlet about her romantic relationship and breakup with her superhero ex, and says that their differences are what eventually split them apart.

Chris is a very, very famous person. For him to go to a restaurant is totally different than for me to go. I sit in my window and I say ‘Hi’ to people on the street. I have more freedom because I’m not Captain America. I’m mostly a cartoon.
Jenny Slate

“Chris is a very, very famous person,” she told Vulture. “For him to go to a restaurant is totally different than for me to go. I sit in my window and I say ‘Hi’ to people on the street. I have more freedom because I’m not Captain America. I’m mostly a cartoon.”

The attention was too much for Slate, who was also dealing with a divorce from Dean Fleischer-Camp, a film editor and her husband of nearly four years, while she was dating Evans.

“This is what I needed to do to feel normal,” she explained. “To be alone.”

Slate explains that when she and Evans first met, there were strong friendship vibes, but that was about it. The actress would even get annoyed by Evan’s weekly game nights that he insisted the cast and crew attend.

“At first I was like, ‘What a f—– nightmare,’” the actress recalled. “Chris is a different speed than me — I think he really did just jump out of a plane for an interview. And so when he was like, ‘Game nights,’ I was like, ‘This is annoying. This guy’s like a sports guy. He’s the kid that likes P.E.’”

Evan’s joyful energy eventually won Slate over, and the two got to know one another. But when Evans, who has dated women like Jessica Biel and Minka Kelly in the past, began having romantic feelings for Slate, she admits that she thought it was “a prank.”

“To be quite honest, I didn’t think I was his type,” she told Vulture.

“I’m considered some sort of alternative option, even though I know I’m a majorly vibrant sexual being.”

She also noted, “If you are a woman who really cares about her freedom, her rights, her sense of being an individual, it is confusing to go out with one of the most objectified people in the entire world.”

And that objectification played into their relationship as well. Slate cites times when the couple would be somewhere like CVS and random women would come up to her and say things like, “‘Oh, my God, is that Chris Evans? He’s so hot!’ You’re like, ‘How dare you? That’s my boyfriend. But yes, he’s so hot.’”

As for their future relationship, Slate hopes that she and Evans can find their way back to their game night beginnings.

“We’re not on bad terms, but we haven’t really seen each other, spoken a lot,” Slate said. “I think it’s probably best. I’d love to be his friend one day, but we threw down pretty hard. No regrets, though. Ever.”

I don't plan on it! Thanks @familyaffairs_by_ninaegli for making this happy shirt!

Sharing Jenny #3: Gangbang on the Nature Walk and Creampies from a Stranger

After my wife admits that she wants to have sex with all kinds of men, it becomes a treat to us to work together to make this happen. I’d been afraid to watch, but now I know that I can’t stand not watching. Going to the park with very little clothing on and a seductive temperament, my wife seduces two younger men. As she begins to lead them down the nature walk, a couple follows them before realizing I’ve been tailing behind. The couple intends to watch, but after a bit of talking, it becomes obvious they want to join in, so I lead them to the others and begin a four man, two woman romp we’ll never forget.

Jenny Holzer

Jenny Holzer

Jenny Holzer is an artist who works with new media, in locations ranging from baseball stadiums to public transportation systems. This book surveys all her installations, including her celebrated marble benches and electronic boards at the DIA Foundation New York, street and gallery based exhibitions, permanent public monuments, and works on the World Wide Web. Starting on the streets of New York with simple fly-posters, she has gone on to disseminate her truisms, slogans, memorials and poems through a variety of media. They are enunciated by an unstable register of personae be it ad man, stand up comic, torturer, victim or evangelist. The sites for her work range from T shirts and golf balls, to dazzling electronic signboards at baseball stadiums or the Internet. Her work uses language to investigate ideologies, conscious and unconscious formations about identity and experience. Her complex and poetic texts can be shocking, humorous and intriguing in content; at the same time she draws on Minimalism’s use of industrial materials, and deploys scale, movement and light to create art of great formal power and beauty. The book is part of a series of studies of important artists of the late-20th century. Each title offers a comprehensive survey of the artist’s work, providing analyses and multiple perspectives on contemporary art and its inspiration.
