Steve Kerr’s Joke About DeMarcus Cousins Won’t Sit Well With Rest Of NBA

As the old saying goes, the rich get richer. The Golden State Warriors have embodied that notion and then some this summer. Mere weeks after winning their third NBA championship in four seasons, the Warriors somehow managed to upgrade as DeMarcus Cousins agreed to join Golden State on a one-year deal. While taking in summer league action in Las Vegas over the weekend, Warriors coach Steve Kerr couldn’t help but joke about his team adding yet another superstar. The Warriors already had an embarrassment of riches, and the addition of Cousins makes the two-time defending champions flat-out ridiculous. Then again, titles aren’t won on paper, so we’ll have to wait and see if the new-look Dubs live

Netflix ‘Acquires’ Seth Rogen’s ‘Mind, Body, Soul, Dreams and Doodles’ in April Fools’ Day Joke

Seth Rogen will definitely be reading all contracts before he signs them in the future.

Netflix announced Sunday that the Knocked Up star “entered into a lifetime deal to transfer full ownership of his personal autonomy” to the streaming service, an April Fools’ day joke complete with a news release and hilarious video of Rogen looking over his contract.

“I should have read this before I signed it,” the 35-year-old actor says after reading the terms and conditions of the agreement, which includes the “ability to frame you for murder and rights to film a docuseries about that murder and biopic starring John Goodman.”

The press release states, “‘As a general rule, I don’t really ‘read’ anything before I sign it,’ replied Rogen when asked about the deal, spilling some beer on his own head as he does the finger-symbol equivalent of air quotes. ‘That’s what Danny is for, he handles that for me, mostly,’ gesturing toward an elderly man in a poncho sleeping on the couch behind him. ‘Hey Danny!’ he shouts, unable to wake his senior contract advisor. ‘I really hope he didn’t f— this up. He’s the reason that Zach and Miri Make a Porno exists.’ ”

A longer video of Rogen hilariously going over his contract appears on Netflix’s user homepage, with the tagline, “Netflix has acquired the mind, soul, body, dreams and doodles” of the actor.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

With those rights, Netflix announced they would also be using Rogen’s recognizable chuckle as a replacement for current laugh tracks for streaming sitcoms like Friends and That ’70s Show.

The press release also put forward a few other ideas for the actor, including a “live-action Shrek remake, starring Rogen as both the titular character, as well as that character’s love interest Fiona. There will also be other tasks considered, including some off-camera roles such as ‘executive foot massager’ and ‘Quentin’s back waxer.’ ”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

The gag is a well-timed promotion for Seth Rogen’s Hilarity for Charity, a taping of a star-studded fundraiser which raises awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. The variety show — featuring Tiffany Haddish, Sacha Baron Cohen, Sarah Silverman and more — will be available to stream via Netflix on April 6.

Netflix is no stranger to teaming up with big celebrities for their April Fools’ day pranks. In 2016, a video of John Stamos having a meltdown at Netflix was “leaked,” and stars of Netflix shows gathered to warn about the dangers of binge watching the previous holiday.

‘The Office’ Clearly Wasn’t Clowning Around With This Subtle Joke

Whether it’s Jim pranking Dwight or Michael Scott saying, “That’s what she said,” the jokes on “The Office” have led to some memorable TV moments. Still, subtle jokes are sometimes the most satisfying.

That’s where Redditor MichaelMan122 comes in.

“The Office” series finale aired in 2013, but the Redditor seems to have pointed out a gag that’s largely gone unnoticed.

In Season 5, Episode 9, “Frame Toby,” Jim (John Krasinski) buys his parents’ house for Pam (Jenna Fischer). While showing it to her, they come across a picture of a clown that Jim can’t seem to get off the wall.

Years have passed since that moment, but finally we have a discovery

Congrats, Jim and Pam! It appears you finally got it down!

In Season 7, Episode 19, “Garage Sale,” while Kevin (Brian Baumgartner), Darryl (Craig Robinson) and Andy (Ed Helms) play a board game based on the TV show “Dallas,” you can clearly see the clown picture in the background. Jim and Pam are selling it at the garage sale.

The Redditor told HuffPost, “It was just one of the little things I noticed while rewatching the show. One of my favorite parts about the show is all the small things the producers have put in the show like this.”

Another Redditor timeless9696 pointed out that a moment where Jim and Pam say they got the picture off the wall is apparently in a deleted scene

There’s a chance the scene was originally included in the episode when it aired in 2011, as at least one review mentions Jim and Pam having the clown picture. (It’s unclear if the reviewer just saw the picture in the background at some point.)

Netflix, which gives many people the option to watch “The Office” nowadays, told HuffPost there can be changes from when episodes aired to what winds up on the streaming service:

We get the episodes from the distributor; if there have been any changes between the TV airing and what we received there could be change, like for other series adding or removing censorship.

The scene where Jim and Pam mention the picture isn’t in the version on Netflix. If anything, the supposed deleted scene confirms the pictures are the same and that this is an eagle-eyed spot by MichaelMan122.

When it comes to jokes, “The Office” clearly wasn’t clowning around.

French TV Host Plays Cruel Joke On Gay Men And Sparks Global Backlash

A French television presenter is facing outrage after poking fun at gay people who responded to his spoof of a dating ad on his show.

On Monday’s episode of “Touche Pas à Mon Poste” (or “Don’t Touch My TV”), host Cyril Hanouna revealed that he’d posted an online ad claiming to be a bisexual man called Jean-José, the BBC reports. Jean-José was described in the ad as being “very sporty and well endowed.”

A clip from “Touche Pas à Mon Poste” shows Hanouna speaking in a snarky, somewhat effeminate tone as he chats with a man who replied to his ad. He’d also used a shirtless photo of filmmaker and YouTube personality Max Emerson in the ad. Emerson, 28, recently made waves when Instagram photos of him and his boyfriend, Andrés Camilo Hernandez, attending a military ball went viral.

The segment quickly landed Hanouna in hot water. Nicolas Noguier of Le Refuge, a France-based LGBTQ advocacy group, told the BBC that one of Hanouna’s guests was “distressed” by the prank since he had yet to come out as gay to his parents. “We were devastated by his tears and his fear of being found out by his parents and those around him,” Noguier said, according to the report.

The controversy prompted a number of high-profile advertisers, including Chanel, Nestlé and Disneyland Paris, to yank advertisements that aired during the primetime show. (BuzzFeed published a running list of companies that have pulled their advertisements from the show.)

On Wednesday, GLAAD announced it was joining the Association of French LGBT Journalists in launching an online petition in both English and French asking supporters to speak out against Hanouna’s actions. Thus far, France’s Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel, which regulates television content, had received more than 25,000 complaints in response to “Touche Pas à Mon Poste,” according to a GLAAD press release.

“This show not only humiliates gay people in the cruelest of styles, but glorifies a dangerous practice that continues to put gay men in harm’s way in France and around the world,” GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis said in an email statement. Her organization, she said, urged “our global community to speak out against the use of online dating profiles and apps to entrap and harm innocent LGBTQ people.”

Emerson echoed those sentiments, calling the unauthorized use of his photos “entirely unacceptable.” Earlier in the week, he blasted the move on Twitter.

It isn’t the first time that Hanouna’s actions have made headlines. According to The Local, an English language French news site, viewers were angered by an October 2016 episode in which a “Touche Pas à Mon Poste” guest kissed a woman’s breasts on the air. In addition, the host frequently mentions homosexuality, “often to laugh about it in a disparaging manner,” on the program, according to the report

For his part, Hanouna said he was “hurt” by the allegations of homophobia, noting it was “everything he had been fighting against for years,” according to the BBC

More Than 5,000 People Complained To The FCC About Colbert’s ‘Homophobic’ Trump Joke

Earlier this month, Stephen Colbert referred to President Donald Trump as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “cock holster” in a fiery, if tongue-in-cheek, rant that instantly sparked controversy.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced May 19 that it had received over 5,700 complaints from viewers about the May 1 episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” with most condemning the host’s “cock holster” joke, Politico reports

The nature of the individual complaints varied widely. Still, many pinpointed what they saw as the homophobia underlying Colbert’s words. “By using accusations of being gay as an insult,” one Illinois viewer wrote, “it implied that there is something wrong with being gay.” A New York felt similarly, telling the FCC, “I really thought we left this kind of bigotry in the wastebin of history. Instead I have to endure it during dinner with me and my husband’s son.”

Viewers from both sides of the political spectrum were equally angered by the Colbert rant, even if their complaints differed in their specifics. “I know all you Commie shills hate this president,” one complaint from Florida read, “but it is your job to keep these Leftists from dragging this nation further into the gutter.”

There’s no word yet on what impact the volume of complaints will have. On May 5, FCC chairman Ajit Pai said his agency had launched an investigation into Colbert’s Trump joke and would “apply the law fairly and fully.”

“I have had a chance to see the clip now and so, as we get complaints, and we’ve gotten a number of them, we are going to take the facts that we find,” Pai said on The Rich Zeoli Show on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, “and we are going to apply the law as it’s been set out by the Supreme Court and other courts and we’ll take the appropriate action.”

If the commission determines that Colbert violated FCC regulations, Pai added, he’d likely face a fine.

Two days after the “cock holster” remark aired, Colbert himself addressed the controversy. On the May 3 installment of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” he said he didn’t regret making the comments but would “change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be” if he could.

He also shrugged off the claims of homophobia. “I just want to say for the record, life is short,” he said, “and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way, is to me, an American hero.”

The public backlash, meanwhile, seems to have had little impact on Colbert’s ratings. Viewership of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” has been boffo in recent weeks, CNN reports. The week following the controversy turned out to be a real win for the show, which beat its closest rival, “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” by its highest margin (410,000 viewers) since September 2015.

Stephen Colbert To Face FCC Investigation Over ‘Homophobic’ Donald Trump Joke

Stephen Colbert pissed off lots of people this week with a controversial rant against President Donald Trump on “The Late Show” and now he might have to pay for it ― literally.

Federal Communications Commission chairman Ajit Pai revealed that the agency would investigate the comedian’s reference to Trump on Monday’s show as Russian President Vladamir Putin’s “cock holster.” Many called the comment “homophobic.”

“I have had a chance to see the clip now and so, as we get complaints, and we’ve gotten a number of them, we are going to take the facts that we find and we are going to apply the law as it’s been set out by the Supreme Court and other courts and we’ll take the appropriate action,” Pai said on The Rich Zeoli Show on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT on Friday.

Pai added the FCC would follow the standard operating procedures and “make sure we evaluate what the facts are and apply the law fairly and fully.”

Colbert’s fiery two-minute routine, titled “Stephen says everything journalists wish they could,” included jokes about Trump’s tiny hands and missing tax returns. But it was the “cock holster” line that drew the most ire and subsequently inspired a #FireColbert hashtag on Twitter.

The late night show host responded to the controversy on Wednesday night, telling viewers he didn’t regret what he said because he believes the president “can take care of himself.” But Colbert did note if he were to do it again, he would “change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be.”

Addressing the claims of homophobia, he added, “I just want to say for the record, life is short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way, is to me, an American hero.”

Variety reported that Pai’s response to Colbert’s monologue is “surprising” as “’The Late Show’ airs outside the FCC’s long-established ‘safe harbor’ time frame of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in which the commission has the authority to police allegations of indecent and obscene material on the airwaves.”

Pai told The Rich Zeoli Show that if the commission finds Colbert violated FCC regulations he would most likely face a fine.

Still, Colbert probably isn’t sweating the investigation too much. “The Late Show” drew its best ratings on Thursday night since its premiere week in 2015.

Chris Brown Disses Aziz Ansari Joke With Racist Instagram Post

Those who can’t take a joke probably shouldn’t try to crack one.

It’s a lesson Chris Brown may want to take to heart after attempting to diss comedian Aziz Ansari’s “SNL” monologue, in which Ansari compared the controversial singer to Donald Trump.

Ansari’s joke went like this:

I’m sure there’s some people that have different political priorities. I’m sure there’s some people that voted for him with reservations. I’m sure there’s a lot of people that voted for Trump the same way a lot of people listen to the music of Chris Brown.

It’s like, “Hey man, I’m just here for the tunes. I don’t know about that other stuff. I just like the dancing and the music. I don’t condone the extracurriculars.”

If you think about it, Donald Trump is basically the Chris Brown of politics. And “Make America Great Again” is his “These hoes ain’t loyal.”

Brown was not happy to be compared with a man associated with racist rhetoric — so he lashed on Instagram in a racist manner.

FUCK NO!!!!!! Somebody tell ALADDIN HOP OFF MY DICK! .

A video posted by 1 YOU ❤️ 2 HATE (@chrisbrownofficial) on

Underneath a brief clip, Brown wrote, “FUCK NO!!!!!! Somebody tell ALADDIN HOP OFF MY DICK!” with a tears from laughing emoji.

Brown’s attempt at humor is not only problematic but inaccurate, because the fictional character of Aladdin is Middle Eastern, while Ansari is an American of Indian descent. Plus, attempting to get back at a comedian who jokingly compared you to Trump by making a racist statement is not the best way to set yourself apart, a fact noted by the Twittersphere.

The backlash didn’t stop Brown from going after Ansari in another Instagram post.

In this one, he said, “Can’t fuckin’ catch a break. This n***a said Donald Trump is the Chris Brown of politics. I swear I’m moving. Getting the fuck out of here. Don’t fucking trust what you see! Even salt looks like sugar.”

So far, Ansari hasn’t publicly reacted to Brown’s reaction, but HuffPost has reached out to him for a response and will update this post accordingly.

CORRECTION: This post has been clarified to reflect that Ansari is Indian-American.

Emma Stone Reveals Filmmakers Have ‘Laughed at My Joke Then Given It to My Male Costar’

Sexism is still a problem in Hollywood— and leading lady Emma Stone can attest to that.

The 28-year-old La La Land actress covers the latest issue of Rolling Stone, in which she opens up about how the film helped give her a voice — a change from past projects where she says she faced difficulties speaking out and was treated differently from her male counterparts.

“There are times in the past, making a movie, when I’ve been told that I’m hindering the process by bringing up an opinion or an idea,” Stone explains. “I hesitate to make it about being a woman, but there have been times when I’ve improvised, they’ve laughed at my joke and then given it to my male costar. Given my joke away.”

She continues: “Or it’s been me saying, ‘I really don’t think this line is gonna work,’ and being told, ‘Just say it, just say it, if it doesn’t work we’ll cut it out’ – and they didn’t cut it out, and it really didn’t work!’”

Stone, who has starred in hits like Easy A, Superbad and The Amazing Spider-Man and will likely be an Oscar contender this year for her work in La La Land, has come a long way since her days of growing up as an anxious child in Scottsdale, Arizona.

As a kid, Stone faced debilitating panic attacks and says her brain would naturally zoom “30 steps ahead to the worst-case scenario.”

“When I was about 7, I was convinced the house was burning down. I could sense it,” she says. “Not a hallucination, just a tightening in my chest, feeling I couldn’t breathe, like the world was going to end. There were some flare-ups like that, but my anxiety was constant.”

She adds: “At a certain point, I couldn’t go to friends’ houses anymore – I could barely get out the door to school.”

Along with the help from therapy, performing became a major way for Stone to overcome her anxiety.

“I started acting at this youth theater, doing improv and sketch comedy,” she says. “You have to be present in improv, and that’s the antithesis of anxiety.”

Two Guys Set Up Fantastic Subway Joke On Stereotypes

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, you’re going to see a lot of heartfelt tributes to Dr. King’s messages, and all of them worth reading or watching. This one isn’t quite that, but it is certainly of the same vein.

Actor Cameron Bhola and comedian Moshe Kravitsky test the resolve of an entire subway train car when Kravitsky, a Jewish man, picks a fight with Bhola, who is black. Things get heated. And then they get funny.

We hate to get all, “WHAT HAPPENS NEXT WILL SURPRISE YOU!” but … what happens next will surprise you.

“As both of us have a love of acting and inspiring others, we resolved to stage a race-centric argument on the subway that would start off like most others [sic] fights, over something small like a subway seat,” Bhola wrote in the video’s description. “The fact that I’m Black and he’s White and Jewish — right there, you’ve got all the usual stereotypes at play in the background. But we wanted to end with a curve-ball out of left field.”

Eddie Murphy Nails Bill Cosby Joke In Rare Stand-Up Set

Eddie Murphy delivered a rare stand-up set with the very thing he didn’t want to do a few months ago: a Bill Cosby joke.

Murphy received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center on Sunday night, where he took to the stage for his first stand-up performance in 28 years. Back in February, we learned via a tweet from former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Norm Macdonald that Murphy had declined to portray Cosby on the “SNL” 40th anniversary special, not wanting to “kick a man when he is down.”

But Murphy wasn’t holding back on Sunday. “Bill has one of these,” the Oscar-nominated comedian joked, referring to the Mark Twain bust that honorees receive. “Did you all make him give it back?” (Several universities have revoked Cosby’s honorary degrees in the wake of his numerous sexual abuse allegations.)

Murphy then morphed into Cosby’s sing-songy lilt, saying, “I would like to talk to some of the people who feel that I should give back some of my motherf**king trophies.” Continuing in his best “Pudding Pop” voice, a callback to his Cosby impression from his famous 1987 stand-up film ”Raw,” Murphy reportedly said, ”You may have heard recently that I allegedly put the pill in the people’s stomach … If I ever see or meet this Hannibal Buress in person, I am going to try and kill this man!”

Days earlier, Murphy had explained his decision not to do Cosby at the “SNL” anniversary tribute: ”There’s nothing funny about it,” he told The Washington Post. “If you get up there and you crack jokes about him, you’re just hurting people.” But Arsenio Hall, who was at Sunday’s celebration, told the Post that Murphy discussed the potential Mark Twain bit with him and Chris Rock, eventually changing his tune. “[Murphy] said, ‘Because Cosby gonna get sick of this soon, he’s gonna get sick of people hating, and eventually he’s gonna have to say something,’” Hall said of Murphy’s decision. “And we were like, ‘That is funny, man. Are you willing?’”

You can see a snippet of the set around the 2:25 mark in this video from The Associated Press. A full broadcast of the event airs Nov. 23 on PBS.

Claire Danes Reveals The ‘Homeland’ Crew’s Running Joke About Carrie

Warning: Very, very mild spoilers ahead.

“Homeland” is back in full force — not halfway through the first episode we saw Carrie Mathison drawn back to the CIA, unfortunately for her. In an interview with People, Claire Danes explained her character’s growth at the start of Season 5.

“[Carrie] is doing very well, she has a gorgeous, smart German lawyer boyfriend and she’s really connected to her child and she’s really happy — for about five minutes,” Danes said.

“Then she’s kidnapped — again.” Again!

Unlike other shows, where a character might be kidnapped once and scarred for life, getting thrown in an unmarked van has become a routine on “Homeland.”

“We were joking that Carrie should have a drawer full of kidnap hoods next to her delicates, she’s got so many,” Danes told People. “Some mesh, some jersey.”

“Homeland” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.

Classic ‘Seinfeld’ Joke Is Revealed To Be A Huge Easter Egg

Secret gags in “Seinfeld” are real, and they’re spectacular.

There are Superman figures slyly appearing in episodes, writers dropping in the names of their friends and tons of hidden references the show creators even forgot were there. Well, now we know of at least one more.

When “The Chinese Restaurant” episode aired on May 23, 1991, NBC was not a fan. Larry David has said the network “hated” the episode and didn’t think waiting around to get a seat in a restaurant would work as a storyline. Now, it’s recognized as one of the most iconic episodes, and it turns out its most memorable joke has been an Easter egg this whole time, according to former “Seinfeld” writer Spike Feresten.

“Like Deep Throat … This goes all the way to the top,” said Feresten, who went on to reveal the famous line’s hidden meaning to The Huffington Post.

The Joke: “Who’s Cartwright?”

tv show gifs
Image: YouTube

In the episode, George is waiting for a woman to call him at the Chinese restaurant. When she does call, the host calls out “Cartwright” instead of George’s name. It’s super hilarious and prompts this discussion between Jerry and George:

JERRY
Who’s Cartwright?

GEORGE
I’m Cartwright …

JERRY
You’re not Cartwright.

GEORGE
[EXPLODING] Of course I’m not
Cartwright …

It has been a mystery for 24 years, but now, thanks to Feresten, we know who the real Cartwright is.

The Big Reveal: “Costanza (sounds like) ‘Bonanza’ = Cartwright”

tv show gifs

Yep. This whole time Cartwright has been a reference to the classic Western show “Bonanza,” which followed the wild adventures of the Cartwright family.

Though the episode happened before he joined the show, Feresten says the info comes from “an unimpeachable source.” The writer was mum on if it was in fact one of the show creators — either David or Jerry Seinfeld — but, as we mentioned, did say it went “all the way to the top.”

Whoa.

So there you have it, kids. The mystery of why the host calls out “Cartwright” has finally been solved. Now if only Jerry could get a table …

Martha Stewart Delivers The Dirtiest Joke Of All At Justin Bieber’s Roast

Turns out having Martha Stewart at the Comedy Central “Roast of Justin Bieber” was a good thing after all.

Stewart’s tame joke about the roast on Twitter earlier this month had some wondering if she could deliver the type of edgy and downright mean-spirited cracks that mark these celebrations:

Wonder no more, because Martha Stewart can push the envelope to the extreme. She delivered one of the edgiest jokes of the night, and followed that up with one of the raunchiest.

Check her out in the clip above, then consider purchasing some highly absorbent Martha Stewart bed linens.

Middle-Schooler Misses Game-Winning Shot Attempt In Brutal Fashion, Realizes Life Is One Long, Cruel Joke

Kids need to learn just how cruel and horrible life can be at some point, so why not during a middle-school basketball game?

Well, at the end of a hard-fought game with the Riley County Falcons on Monday, the Rock Creek Mustangs certainly learned that.

Down 26-25 with just seconds to go, the team of eighth-grade boys found themselves with one last chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

The ball was inbounded and dribbled into the key as friends and family nervously watched on. The shot went up — a solid, high-quality, statistically justifiable shot, it should be noted — hit the back of the rim and then, well, it just sort of sat there until time expired.

Looks like the referee technically calls a jump ball, but whatever.

There are a lot of things to think here, such as WHY? WHAT? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? THAT POOR KID! NOOOOOOO!! etc. But remember, life is full of random, hopeless moments. You shouldn’t waste your breath.

Supposedly, the kids were playing in the Kansas Mid-East eighth-grade boys basketball league. But really, couldn’t this be any basketball league in America?

The lesson, as always: Hide your kids away in the house at all times.

Peyton Manning Made An Unfunny Joke About Getting ‘Hit In The Head A Lot’ Last Night

During the opening monologue of the 40th anniversary episode of “Saturday Night Live” on Sunday, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning made a joke about the brutal hits to the head professional football players deal with during almost every game.

“I gotta say I was so flattered backstage when you said I had a natural gift for athletics,” Steve Martin jokingly told Manning on stage.

“Steve, I get hit in the head a lot,” Manning replied. “I get hit in the head a lot.”

Manning’s joke occurs around 4:30 in the video above.

It’s likely an “SNL” writer, and not Manning himself, who wrote the joke, but it’s nevertheless of questionable taste. The NFL reported last month that its players registered 111 concussions during the 2014 regular season. That number is down from previous years, but it’s still far from zero, and PBS’s “Frontline,” which kept a concussion tracker throughout the season, says there were actually at least 12 more than that.

Quarterbacks actually registered fewer concussions than almost every other position, according to the “Frontline” concussion tracker. But that doesn’t mean they are immune to the brain trauma that can occur on the field. Cullen Finnerty, once a star college quarterback, was found to have the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after he was found dead in 2013.

And just last week, former San Diego Chargers quarterback Jesse Freitas was found dead in a parked car. Authorities have said there were no initial signs of foul play. Freitas had been struggling with mental illness during retirement, and his family decided to have Freitas’ brain checked for signs of trauma.

“Frontline” reported last year that 76 of 79 former NFL players who posthumously donated their brains to the Department of Veterans Affairs brain repository showed signs of traumatic brain injury.

Bill Maher Makes Yet Another Joke About Bill Cosby

Bill Maher made yet another joke referencing the recent sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby.

On Friday night’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the host mentioned Cosby during a segment about Sarah Palin. While discussing the Republican voices who criticized a recent Palin speech, Maher said, “Sean Hannity asked, ‘Did the teleprompter go down?’ The Washington Examiner questioned whether she should be included in future Republican events. And Bill Cosby said, ‘I wouldn’t drug her with your drink.'”

The host has made jokes about the allegations against Cosby on numerous occasions, including during his monologue for the Nov. 14 episode of “Real Time With Bill Maher.” While discussing Obama’s then-new initiatives, he said: “If you’re a Republican, you see Obama as Bill Cosby sexually assaulting the Constitution.”

Maher also joked about the comedian on the Nov. 21 episode of the show. “It was a bad week for Bill Cosby,” Maher said. “On the plus side, he has lots of pills lying around that can make him forget the whole thing.”

“Real Time with Bill Maher” airs Friday at 10:00 p.m. ET on HBO.

Too Soon? Why No Joke Should Ever Be Off-Limits

Humor is the result of the clash of the incongruous.

It’s the intersection of two independent lines of thoughts, incapable of inhabiting the same space at the same time. (“A man walks into a bar. Ouch.”)

Every comedian knows this. And this is why comedy is so important, because it can function like society’s headlamp, effectively 3D-mapping our collective perception, showing the distances between what is and what we’ve convinced ourselves is.

This is another reason why many people in this world have such a difficult time with comedians, because comedians have always been watchdogs for bullshit. (Looking at you, Fox News.) And why topics like religion have always been comedic gold, because religion — just like politics or airline food — is, at its core, incongruous with reality.

That’s why there’s no such thing as “offensive” humor. Only a personal reaction to a concept or idea with a kernel of truth which some have made the conscious choice not to accept.

Humor, on the other hand, doesn’t care.

Because humor cannot exist without truth.

This is why comedy will always hold so much power. Because if a joke works — but you don’t like it or don’t agree with it — then ultimately it is your belief system that is dishonest; it’s your worldview that is what’s out of step with reality.

And that, to me, is offensive.
