Larry and Toby Milstein Expand ‘Millennial Pink Party’ Into Weekend Long Retreat

The second annual Millennial Pink Party takes to the Hamptons this weekend, and this year the concept has been expanded into a full weekend of events with the help of partners like BCBGeneration, Bloomingdale’s and The Class by Taryn Toomey.
Millennial Pink Party made its debut last year as the re-branded take on the Milstein family’s annual summer Hamptons bash. Real estate scions Larry and Toby Milstein embraced the rosy hue and moved the party to the Breakers in Montauk to lure the young Manhattan social crowd for the party, in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign.
After its success, the one-night event has grown into a weekend, which begins tonight with a private beachside dinner hosted by Whispering Angel. The guest list for Friday night is made up of the Millennial Pink Founders Collective, who are categorized as “a handpicked group of 25 VIP taste makers who will serve as social ambassadors for the Millennial Pink community and provide creative direction on the event.”
Come Saturday, celebrity workout favorite Taryn Toomey will host a session of her workout The Class for guests, followed by the official party at night and a brunch to close things out on Sunday.
The event last year raised more than $ 15,000 for

MRket’s Larry Hymes Dies

Larry Hymes, one of three partners who developed the West Coast Exclusive, the predecessor to the MRket Show, has died, according to a Facebook post by his daughter Nicole on Thursday afternoon.
Hymes, 72, died Thursday of heart failure. Details on services have not yet been set.
Hymes grew up in Queens, attended Queens College, and moved to Los Angeles in 1974. He was a West Coast rep for several men’s wear brands and in 1998, he teamed with Hyela Sablosky and Stephanie Goetz to form the West Coast Exclusive. That show was sold to Business Journals Inc. and renamed MRket in 2007. Business Journals was purchased by UBM America’s for $ 69 million last April.
Hymes remained involved in the show following its sale to BJI, resigning his position as men’s wear specialist for MRket in fall 2015. His departure followed a serious car accident in April 2015 that “changed my perspective on life,” he said at the time.
“I want to remain a part of the men’s wear business,” Hymes said. “But my focus will be on consulting with brands and companies that want to break in, expand distribution or change their current positioning.”
Hymes, who was a well-liked and respected figure in the men’s business for decades,

Giorgio Armani Unveils Larry Fink Exhibition

FINK TWICE: The sleek and minimalist Armani/Silos space emphasized Larry Fink’s beautiful and striking black-and-white photos, displayed as part of the exhibition “The Beats and The Vanities, Larry Fink,” running until the end of July. “This gave me the opportunity to glance at a world that was distant from mine, not so perfect and not part of me,” said Giorgio Armani at the opening event on Tuesday, carefully observing the images. “It allowed me to come out of my rigorous, perfectionist world, but then you see that the poses, the lights, the cut of the photos seem studied inch by inch. Each take is the perfect choice.”
The exhibit comprises 125 original black-and-white photographs, of which 54 are from Fink’s book “The Beats,” chronicling his hitchhiking trip through America in the late Fifties. The other 71 are from “The Vanities,” his portfolio of images interpreting Vanity Fair’s Oscar parties and Hollywood events in the 2000 to 2009 period. This is the first time they are all displayed together.
Armani was upbeat about the potential of the Silos, which can also become a source of inspiration. “I always said that I wanted to hold events here beyond fashion. Milan needs to be alive,

Larry David Was Pretty, Pretty Good As Bernie Sanders, But This Comedian Is Even Better

The Internet agreed that “Seinfeld” co-creator and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David did a pretty, pretty good impression of Democratic presidential candidate (and fellow Brooklyn native) Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on “Saturday Night Live.” Even Sanders himself loved it, joking that he’ll invite David to his campaign rallies because “he does better than I do.”

But here’s one that rivals David’s portrayal, from comedian James Adomian, who performed his own Sanders impression last week at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York.

Watch Adomian as Sanders in the clip above, participating in a “debate” with Donald Trump, played by comedian Anthony Atamanuik.

And here’s David again, in case you missed it.

Desperately Seeking Larry

When last we saw Larry David on his classic television show Curb Your Enthusiasm a number of years ago, he was wandering the streets of Paris with good friend Leon. Even in another language, Larry’s famous social maladroitness was operating at full throttle, manifesting itself in a manner that was as always, tres magnifique! And then the scene faded out and Larry David faded away.

And since then, I’ve been desperately seeking Larry!

Larry David as depicted in Curb Your Enthusiasm is a Jewish/Boomer gift to the world. He’s a super wealthy guy who can’t figure out how much tip to leave on a deli sandwich. He rubs shoulders with Mel Brooks and Michael J. Fox but can’t hold a two minute conversation with the pool boy without near international incident. He once had a beautiful loving wife but so bombed the relationship the only thing missing was nuclear fallout.

Larry is a rich, successful guy who screws up worse than we do. And watching him make a bigger idiot out of himself than we ever could makes us feel lots better about ourselves.

True, Larry did a television movie and has been on Broadway lately, but that doesn’t make him regularly accessible to most of us. Comes Sunday night and I flick on HBO and Larry is missing in action. Sure Game of Thrones is great, but where are all the neurotic Jewish people?

What about watching some other comedies, you ask? That would be fine were there Two and a Half Larrys, Saturday Night Larry, or America’s Got Larry. But no such shows exist, leaving me — you guessed it — desperately seeking Larry.

So how about you, friend? Are you too desperately seeking Larry?

Top Ten Signs You Are Desperately Seeking Larry

1) Whenever anyone asks how you’re doing, you invariably say “Pret-tay, Pret-tay Good!” even if you are in fact doing “Pret-tay, Pret-tay Lousy!”

2) Seriously considering naming your next child “Marty Funkhouser” or at the very least “The Funk.”

3) Just launched a drive to have Larry replace Ben Affleck as the next Batman.

4) If only you didn’t have such a thick bushy head of hair!

5) Constantly hum the theme to Curb at inappropriate times and places such as when proposing marriage, during parent-teacher conferences, or at your inauguration as President of the United States.

6) Purposefully own a black cat so you can pretend it’s Richard Lewis.

7) Whenever you suspect someone of lying, you stare at the person while tilting your head back and forth and somehow that insinuating quizzical Curb music actually plays!

8) You’ve retained Jeff Green as your agent even though you’re a certified public accountant.

9) You refuse to return actress Cheryl Hines’ adoring phone calls because how dare she dump Larry?!

10) So what did you folks think of this top ten list? What? Even the Seinfeld finale was better?!!

And so, Larry David, here we all are, each of us awaiting your return. Please hurry back so we need desperately seek you no longer. You see, you’re our social safety net.

Without you around, whenever we mess up, we mess up alone.

Obama Golfs With Larry David

President Barack Obama chose a pretty, pretty good golf companion for his first golf outing on Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday: “Seinfeld” co-creator Larry David.

David joined Obama along with former UBS chairman of the Americas Robert Wolf and Cyrus Walker, a cousin of White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.

David, who has golfed with Obama before, was spotted crying out in a sand trap, possibly because of a poor shot.

Obama arrived on Martha’s Vineyard on Friday for a 17-day vacation.

Shamballa Sets Eyewear Line With Larry Sands

KARL HAD IT FIRST: Danish brand Shamballa Jewels is making its entry into eyewear in collaboration with Larry Sands, the eyewear guru behind Chrome Hearts.
The line had hardly hit the Parisian concept store Colette in Paris when Karl Lagerfeld bought a pair of shades and wore them on Tuesday at the Chanel couture show.
The line consists of 15 models with prices ranging from 900 to 24,000 euros, or $ 990 to $ 26,465 at current exchange, the latter for the 24-karat gold model with two pavé beads and sapphires.
“The eyewear idea came when we met Larry Sands [the distributor of Shamballa’s jewelry Stateside since 2013.] Then when we got into the analysis, we saw the growth potential of the [eyewear] category,” Shamballa chief operation officer Peter Normann explained to WWD.
While it’s giving the license for eyewear out to Sands’ Malibu, Calif.-based SL Luxury Group, Normann said Shamballa Jewels plans to remain focused on its core jewelry business. “Hopefully it will be a nice license income. We hope eyewear will allow us to increase awareness to the brand,” Normann said.
In addition to Colette, the line is currently available at V.A.U.L.T Miami and Shamballa Jewels’ flagship store in Copenhagen. “It will have a much wider distribution

Larry Wilmore Takes Fox News To Task Over Charleston Church Shooting Coverage

Larry Wilmore isn’t too pleased with Fox News’ coverage of the church massacre in Charleston, South Carolina. Then again, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

This time, the late night talk show host, who initially declared he wouldn’t discuss the shooting on his comedy-based platform, later changed his mind and shared choice words about the network.

“I know we talk about race a lot on this show, but I think we can all agree this time that this is a racially motivated attack,” he said. “It couldn’t be clearer when it comes out of the killer’s mouth. But even with all of that evidence, on a day like today, Fox News just makes my f***king head explode.”

The host then played a series of clips from Fox News’ coverage which questioned whether Roof’s motives were targeted towards black people or Christians.

“I know you guys don’t want to admit that racial stuff isn’t going on, but how can there be any doubt when it came out of the gunman’s mouth? He told his victims, ‘I want to shoot black people,’” Wilmore said. “I think when he says black people, he means black people – and not Christians.”

Wilmore also highlighted presidential candidate Rick Santorum calling the shooting an “assault on religious liberty” and Santorum’s confusion of the shooter’s motives other than it being a “crime of hate.” The comedian-writer cited the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama as one similarly horrific incident that didn’t require anyone to wonder the killers’ intent.

“Let me give you an example,” Wilmore explained. “Four black girls were murdered in a church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963. Back then, no one pretended to wonder what the motivation was. If you tried to say it was about religion, even the perpetrators back then would have corrected you.”

Check out more of Larry Wilmore’s thoughts in the clip above.
