Troll This Politician And He Just Might Call Your Grandma — Literally

When Pennsylvania House Rep. Brian Sims (D-PA) woke up Wednesday morning, he followed his usual morning routine: checking the news, and then deleting the hate speech left on his Facebook by trolls overnight.

An openly gay politician, Sims is used to having to go through these motions. However, this morning one comment stuck out to him: it read “n****r faggot.”

When Sims checked the poster’s Facebook page, he didn’t find much info or a clear-cut motive for the troll’s actions.

“What caught me about it was there wasn’t a reference to something I said or something I’d done or some policy,” Sims told HuffPost. “And when I looked at his page there was very little there ― but he’d posted a telephone number a number of times.”

So Sims decided to call the number at 6:15 a.m. ― and the person on the receiving end turned out to be none other than the troll’s grandmother.

”I explained to her exactly who I as and what he had done,” Sims told HuffPost. “Like any grandma she was very embarrassed at having this kind of convo and very ashamed at the actions of her grandson. The conversation ended with me telling her that I wanted to hear from him.”

Sims did in fact ending up talking to the poster after the conversation with his grandmother. He said that he rather not discuss the specifics of their conversation but noted that it “didn’t resolve anything.”

“It is the ultimate calling card of a coward to ― under the guise of night and behind a keyboard ― use the kind of language that in person would cause most decent people to respond in anger and frustration,” Sims continued. “The reason people do things like this is they don’t have the courage, the education or gumption to do this kind of thing in person.”

Let this be a lesson to trolls everywhere: be careful what you’re posting ― it might just result in an early morning call to your grandmother!

Elizabeth Olsen’s Plunging Gown at the Captain America: Civil War Premiere Makes Chris Evans Literally Stop and Stare

Elizabeth Olsen is known for having her sisters’ (Mary Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen) minimalist, refined style, so it’s not often she goes full-on Hollywood glam. But Tuesday she pulled out all the style stops at the European premiere of Captain America: Civil War in a sexy, keyhole-neckline dress that turned more than a few heads — including her co-star’s, Chris Evans.

What makes the otherwise covered-up (long-sleeve, floor-length) gown so sexy is the accentuated plunging neckline, waist-cinching ruched bodice and body-skimming fabric. It also shows cleavage from all angles.

Olsen returns as the Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) in the latest installment of the hit superhero franchise and in a behind-the-scenes clip from the film, she comments on what it feels like playing a good guy (in Avengers: Age of Ultron she took a villainous turn).

“What I like about Wanda is the idea of her being terrified of her own abilities, it’s really fun to play with,” she explains.

Plus, she loved working with such a huge, creative cast. “There’s been a few moments where you kind of look around and go, ‘Oh, I’m in good company. This is rad.’”

George Clooney On His Proposal To Amal Alamuddin: ‘I Literally Dropped It On Her’

For a man who was once thought to be an eternal bachelor, it sure didn’t take George Clooney long to realize he wanted to be with Amal Alamuddin for life.

“It happened pretty quickly,” the actor told “CBS This Morning’s” Charlie Rose on Tuesday. “I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal. But, you know, I have to say, when I asked her…we had never talked about it…there wasn’t, like, ‘Hey, maybe we should get married.’ I literally I dropped it on her.”

Clooney said he proposed to the human rights attorney at home with his Aunt Rosemary’s records playing in the background.

“Finally, I just said, ‘Listen.’ You know, I’m 53, at the time, or 52, I think, at the time, and I said, ‘You know, I’ve been on my knee now for about 28 minutes,” he said. “So I gotta get an answer out of this, ’cause I’m gonna throw a hip out.”

The pair, who first met in Italy, tied the knot in Venice in September 2014.

“I have someone who I can talk to about anything and someone who I care more about than I’ve cared about anybody,” Clooney said of his wife. “So it’s really nice.”

This isn’t the first time the “Tomorrowland” actor has gushed about Alamuddin to the press. At a premiere for the movie recently, he told People magazine that getting married has changed his outlook on the future.

“All I know is that it sort of changed everything in terms of what I thought my future –- my personal future -– was going to be.” He continued, “I wasn’t always completely optimistic about how it was going to work out personally for me. But now I am.”

A Story is Literally Bursting Off the Page in This Intricate Fairy Tale Photograph

Alexia is currently selling a one-off print run of the incredible photograph below for one month only at a special supporter price to help fund the rest of this project. Click here to find out more and support Alexia’s work..

A storybook is merely a container — a parcel filled with wonder that, once opened by a skilled storyteller, leaps off the page and envelops reader and listener alike. This is the scene unfolding in world-renowned artist and 500px photographer Alexia Sinclair‘s latest photograph: Into the Gloaming.

2015-05-05-1430868509-5577903-2015_ALEXIA_SINCLAIR_FINAL.jpg

Into the Gloaming is, in fact, a whole series that is being kicked off today by the hero image above of the same name. Described better by Alexia than we could manage, she sets the stage for the storybook series in an appropriately storybook fashion:

For those not up to date on their old English. The gloaming is that time of day where the soft glow of dusk envelopes your soul. Where the nocturnal gatekeepers take control and anything seems possible. You can (at least I do) imagine secret doorways in the trunks of trees or toadstools the size of houses. It’s easy to understand why it’s commonly known as the magic hour, anything seems possible and that’s where we begin.

The stage set, Alexia did what she does better than just about any other artist in the world: she began a weeks-long, painstaking process to create a scene with so much detail you could (and should) easily lose yourself in the resulting photograph.

But don’t take our word for it, she captured the entire process on video — in more detail than ever before — for Into The Gloaming Episode 1. Ever wonder how much work goes into creating a scene like this IN-CAMERA… click play and find out:

From the actual fabric print, to the dress, to the plants, to the book, to the set, to the mushrooms, to the hand-made castle, Alexia’s attention to detail and refusal to compromise on a single piece of her imagined scene is awe-inspiring… and maybe a little nuts.

The Set

The Dress

The eye-opening thing about this unprecedented BTS look at Alexia’s process is seeing just how small a percentage of the work actually happens behind the camera and even afterwards in post-processing.

She literally creates her scene and props by hand, or spends countless hours searching for them high and low — the mushrooms, for example, were grown in a 600-meter long decommissioned train tunnel which prior to mushroom farming held World War II munitions for the United States Government.

The video also shows the importance of working with incredible, dedicated assistants and creatives. That hair didn’t do itself, and late nights building a castle from scratch because you couldn’t find one that was good enough aren’t nearly as fun without delirious exhaustion jokes.

Here are a few behind the scenes images of the prep process that Alexia was kind enough to share with us:

‘SNL’ Women Take Sara Bareilles’ ‘Brave’ Lyrics Literally And Say What They Wanna Say

Do you suffer from politeness? Are you tired of making coffee dates with people you don’t like or holding back spoilers for the sake of your friends? You don’t have to anymore, you just have to be brave!

The ladies of “SNL” embrace their audacity in a new sketch that says it’s OK to speak your mind, even if it’s totally rude. Leslie Jones calls out Pete Davidson for not paying enough at lunch and Kate McKinnon flat out tells her co-worker she’s not going to her birthday party.

Watch 52 Movies Literally Star In This Horror Movie Crossover

We’ve seen our fair share of crossover productions in cinema before, from the “Alien vs. Predator” franchise to “Marvel’s The Avengers” to just about anything featuring Jay and Silent Bob. But it isn’t very common that 52 movies come together in one.

The folks at Portal Party added the fifth episode to their “Movies Starring Movies” series, crafting a horror short just in time for Halloween. Starring literal movies (you’ll see), we watch as “The Good Girl” makes its way through a creepy forest and castle, filled with “The Wolfman,” “The Evil Dead” and “Bats,” all while “One Good Cop” does its best to combat these dreadful DVDs. The Literally Eternal Warrior: Hour of the Wolf Movie Review of Edge of Tomorrow

2014-06-12-Edge_of_Tomorrow_AYNIKD05210584r_410.jpgWell, this is a ticklish situation. I went into Edge of Tomorrow a little nervous, knowing this much about it: that Tom Cruise played a soldier who, by some trick of the time-space continuum, was reliving over and over his death during a disastrous attack on an alien invasion force. Sounded intriguing, no question. But it also smacked, in general conception if not plot specifics, uncomfortably of last year’s Oblivion, where Tom Cruise played a survivor of an alien invasion who was also confronted with the mystery behind his own existence. What was doubly dismaying was that I could conceive of a possible explanation for Edge‘s protagonist that would parallel a major revelation in Oblivion. If that was the case, it’d be game over for me. I liked Oblivion just fine, but there was no need to revisit it.

A lot of people may have been thinking the same way — not too long before Edge‘s release, the good folks over at Warner Bros. altered their ad campaign, filling in a bit more about what Cruise’s character was going through. That put me more at ease, but I was still concerned that, like Cruise’s soldier, we’d be reliving the same day over again.

Here’s the good news: Edge of Tomorrow is not Oblivion redux. But here’s the conundrum: As a result, the pendulum may have swung too far in the opposite direction. I explore the problem in my latest review for Jim Freund’s Hour of the Wolf. Click on the player to hear the review, or right-click the title to download.
