Madonna’s Anti-Trump Cover Of Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ Is The Antidote To 2016

Any time you think that pop music crown might be slipping off Madonna’s head, she readjusts, smirks and places it back to its rightful place.

The Material Girl revived her Tears of a Clown show on Friday night to support the charity Raising Malawi and we seriously don’t know where to begin.

Not only did she raise $ 7.5 million dollars to benefit the lives of Malawi orphans, according to The Associated Press, but she also twerked with Ariana Grande, got handcuffed by Sean Penn, made president-elect Donald Trump her own personal punching bag and delivered a cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” we’ll need years of therapy to fully process.

Packed with celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, James Corden and Paris Hilton amid Miami’s Art Basel festival, the fundraiser spotlighted Madonna’s ability to do just about anything for a good cause.

Grande took the stage to auction off one of the looks from Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour. The two apparently wowed the crowd with a song and dance number, as well as sharing a brief kiss, AP reports.

At one point in the evening, ex-husband Penn somehow wound in the spotlight ― the former couple’s 1985 wedding photo was up for auction ― to encourage everyone to open their pocketbooks.

Penn crawled through her legs to get up on stage and then handcuffed her in front of the crowd. Madonna then offered to marry the actor a second time if he bid $ 150,000.

“For once, he’s not the one being arrested,” she said.

Thankfully, Bethenny Frankel, who was also in attendance, (random, but helpful) captured the moment in all its glory on Snapchat.

But Madge truly outdid herself with her anti-Trump pièce de résistance, the performance of  “Toxic” while distorted images of Trump flashed on screen in the background.

Seated on a chair the entire performance, Madonna cooed lyrics like “You know that you’re toxic,” while backdropped by a photo of Trump with a “Pinnochio” nose and quotes from the president-elect about building a wall

“I’m not being too opinionated?” she asked the audience after the performance. “Too extreme? I’m not insulting anymore? I must not be doing something right.”

And then she auctioned off the actual chair she was sitting on.

She did it. She really did it. Madonna took four minutes to save the world. Watch the full performance below:

Jeremy Scott on Madonna’s Coachella Wardrobe

GREAT SCOTT: Jeremy Scott was one of the few who knew that Madonna would be Drake’s surprise guest at Sunday’s Coachella finale because he had worked out the singer’s Moschino look — her second one in a week after “The Tonight Show” — ahead of time with stylist Arianne Phillips. “I was watching from the front with Katy Perry and Rihanna and even they didn’t know, to give you an idea of how insider it was,” he said of Madge’s appearance. “It made me really happy that she gave me such a great homage, with her dancers wearing pieces from my Adidas collection as well,” said Scott, who stayed an extra day in the desert. “The pull of Coachella was too strong to stay away,” he said, though he’s “more selective” about which performances he goes to nowadays. “I went to see Bjork like 12 years ago, so I’ve definitely seen the festival in all its incarnations, and it only seems to get bigger and better.” Now that he’s conquered the Super Bowl and Coachella, the Met Ball is the next marquee event on Scott’s list, though he’s staying mum on who his date — or dates — will be.
