The British designer also collaborated with Lime on a range of collapsible helmets produced by Spanish accessories brand Closca. The helmets will be attached to the 30 Stella McCartney x Lime scooters.
McCartney, who has always been vocal about the environmental cause, was the patron of the “Go for Good” campaign at the Galeries Lafayette, which runs until Oct. 12.
After landing in the French capital in June, Lime has partnered with the Fédération de la Haute Couture to station electric scooters outside major fashion shows on the official calendar. For 1 euro, travelers can unlock each device using the Lime app, which charges 15 centimes per minute of use.

Westminster Debate on U.K. Fur Ban Takes Shape, Backed by Stella McCartney

LONDON — The fur debate continues to unravel in the U.K. with the Labour party now demanding a total fur ban in the country, during a debate held today at Westminster.
Ahead of the debate, designer Stella McCartney wrote an open letter in support of the cause.
In her letter, McCartney highlights the recent shift in attitude toward fur as an indication that the country needs to take a step further and ban fur, to reflect the public sentiment.
“Over the past few years countless brands and designers have woken up to the unequivocal cruelty of the fur industry and have subsequently stopped using fur in their collections. More than 80 percent of British people believe it is unacceptable to buy or sell any animal fur. The world is moving in a more positive direction and it is time for the UK to take the vital next step,” wrote the designer, who has never used fur or leather in her collections.
McCartney added that she sees the U.K.’s current policy of banning fur farming 20 years ago yet allowing fur imports into the country as “hypocritical and unacceptable” and addressed the argument that real fur is a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly option to its

“I am so proud and honored to have been chosen by the Duchess of Sussex to make her evening gown and represent British design,” said McCartney. “It has truly been one of the most humbling moments of my career and I am so proud of all the team on this stunning sunny royal day.”
Markle changed into a sleeveless white silk crepe gown with a high collar for the black-tie dinner being hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House in Windsor. She paired the dress with Aquazurra satin shoes with baby blue soles.
The clean lines and silk fabric of the Stella dress echoed the minimal, unembellished design she wore for her walk down the aisle.

Stella McCartney Honored for Innovation at the Fashion Awards in London

STELLA’S MOMENT: The British Fashion Council will honor Stella McCartney’s commitment to championing sustainability and animal rights at this year’s Fashion Awards. McCartney will be the first recipient of the Special Recognition Award for Innovation, a new accolade that’s been added to the award ceremony’s lineup this year.
“What I am most proud of is that it is a new award that is introduced into the Fashion Awards, a special recognition on innovation. I am hoping that as being the first recipient, I can inspire other design houses to follow suit and to make this the most prestigious award, not just a one-off,” the designer said.
Natalie Massenet, the British Fashion Council’s chairman who has been working toward refreshing the image of the Fashion Awards in Britain and giving the event a more international scope, called McCartney a “fashion pioneer.”
“She has created a modern business that, in turn, has led her to be at the forefront of sustainable sourcing and material innovation. She is proof that high and ethical fashion combined can create astonishing results and her innovative approach to the industry is an inspiration to us all,” Massenet added.

Stella McCartney Unveils Men’s Shop-in-Shop at Harrods

ONE FOR THE BOYS: Stella McCartney has launched a first space dedicated to the brand’s new men’s wear collection, at Harrods.
The 350-square-foot shop-in-shop is located in the Advanced International department on the store’s lower ground floor. It carries tailored blazers, knitwear and slogan T-shirts from the designer’s fall 2017 men’s wear range.
Eight styles are exclusive to the store, including blazers, a cardigan, trousers and shirts. The space has been designed with dark textured walls and soft seating, a mirror column and soft carpeting. The label’s women’s wear boutique is located in the International Designer Room on the first floor, while children’s wear is sold in the Mini Designer Room on the fourth floor.
“Stella McCartney has long been established in Harrods as a brand that champions British style with modern flair,” said Helen David, chief merchant.
“Now, we are very excited to welcome her new men’s wear label with the first stand-alone boutique in the world. The collection’s aesthetic, design and nod toward the growing seasonless wardrobe trend is an evolution that our men’s wear customer is increasingly looking for, so we are excited to see the brand’s growth within Harrods.”

Stella McCartney Shoots Her Fall 2017 Campaign in a Landfill

Stella McCartney sped up the lifecycle of clothes for her fall campaign, taking them directly to a Scottish landfill for the shoot by Harley Weir, done in collaboration with artist Urs Fischer. The concept was an exploration of waste and consumption, two of McCartney’s key brand tenets — 53 percent of her women’s collection is made from sustainable materials, and the brand is vegetarian.
Birgit Kos, Iana Godnia and Huan Zhou, all of whom were cast in McCartney’s fall 2017 runway show, were shot as a group standing in the landfill on the coast of Eastern Scotland. Kos is pictured lying on a rusted decaying car. Lest anyone think Godnia drew the short straw of lying on a pile of landfill garbage, that shot actually features household refuse — i.e., clean waste — that was collected to be sent to a recycling center.

“The idea we had with this campaign is to portray who we want to be and how we carry ourselves; our attitude and collective path,” said McCartney. “Our man-made constructed environments are disconnected and unaware of other life and the planet, which is why there is waste.”

Patron Stella McCartney and Jury Choose Lara Krude as Designer for Tomorrow in Berlin

GIRLS’ CLUB: “Hi Stella. I know you’re there,” chimed a red-capped and former Designer for Tomorrow patron Alber Elbaz in a well-wisher video aired at the 10th edition of the student designer competition held in Berlin last week. Stella McCartney was back for her second turn as Designer for Tomorrow patron for this diamond anniversary, and once again, the designer and jury’s five finalists, culled from 200 European hopefuls, was an all-girls’ lineup. The winner, Lara Krude of Hamburg’s University of Applied Sciences, will have mentoring sessions with McCartney as well as a further round of workshops and internships through Designer for Tomorrow sponsor, the German specialty store chain Peek & Cloppenburg.
Krude’s women’s wear capsule, “Was Bleibt” or “What Remains,” impressed with her take on men’s wear tailoring and ensemble thinking gone awry, combined with a sensitive color sense, fine finishing and individual detailing. Last year’s winner, Edda Gimnes, was also back with her first runway show, her signature hand-drawn prints now full color and generally full flush, but sometimes also just a loosely sketched detail such as pockets or the back yoke on otherwise solid jackets and pants.
“A part of the reason to come back,” McCartney said, “is that beyond

Stella McCartney Men’s Fall 2017

Stella McCartney is steaming ahead with her see-now buy-now men’s wear, which launched last November, and her winter 2017 collection draws on her many worlds – women’s wear, The Beatles, her father Sir Paul McCartney and her efforts to work in an environmentally conscious way.
She said her “weird music heritage” made her think about how men used to dress – and all the fun they had doing it. “I looked at my dad and his peers, at punk, at rave, at different moments in music history. There was so much more exploration,” McCartney said, adding that in the past men felt freer to express themselves, and to play around with their wardrobes more.
Tailoring is a big part of the collection: There are boxy suit jackets with patch pockets, narrow trousers with built-in belts or cargo pockets on the leg, and a double-breasted camel coat with rounded shoulders. “I’m a massive fan of the camel coat – that’s the New Yorker in me,” she said. There’s a camel duffle coat, too.
A more formal dark jacket with a bright red shawl collar is based on one of her father’s from the Seventies, which he had made. The short boots with the little

Stella McCartney, Adidas Reveal Uniforms for Britain’s Olympic Athletes

LONDON — “Go ahead, get your six-pack out,” said Stella McCartney to Tom Daley, the English diver who’ll be taking part in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in August, as she unveiled the official sports kit she created for the British team.
McCartney had Daley — and other athletes — modeling her latest creations for Adidas, including clothing for the sports arena, the winners’ podium, and the Olympic village.
This is the second time that McCartney has worked with Adidas on the Olympians’ uniforms, and this year there are some major changes, including a new coat of arms meant to reflect the athletes’ British heritage and teamwork, and new technical fabrics that are 10 percent lighter for speedier performances.
McCartney and members of the British Olympic and Paralympic teams gathered Wednesday at Seymour Leisure Centre, a sleek Thirties building with art deco features, to show off the new collection.
McCartney said the range of Adidas fabrics and materials was narrower than she’s used to working with, but she likes operating outside her comfort zone and put a fashion spin on everything from tracksuit bottoms and jackets to men’s racer swimsuits.
“There are perforated nylon jackets, and lots of Neoprene and stretch — which I usually don’t

Paul McCartney, Fergie, Other Stars Record ‘Love Song To The Earth’

Music superstars have come together to stress the importance of protecting our environment.

A group of artists, including Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi and Sheryl Crow recorded “Love Song to the Earth” — a new song dedicated to rallying people to climate action and supporting the U.N.’s efforts to get nations to agree on a universal climate agreement.

The song was released on iTunes and Apple Music on September 4, but will have a wide release a week later, according to a press release. Apple, as well as artists, producers and directors involved in the song plan to donate their proceeds to environmental organization Friends of the Earth U.S. and the United Nations Foundation.

Toby Gad, who helped write the star-studded track — which comes out months before December’s climate conference COP21 in Paris — says he hopes the song will open people up to the importance of fighting climate change.

“When the U.N. asked me to write a song about climate change I felt honored and inspired. So, my friends and I wrote ‘Love Song to The Earth’, focusing on a positive message about how precious our only planet is,” Gad said in a statement. “I hope this song will broaden the audience for this urgent message and give the politicians emotional support for meaningful climate agreement in Paris 2015.”

Other stars who were featured in the song include Fergie, Colbie Caillat, Natasha Bedingfield, Leona Lewis, Sean Paul, Johnny Rzeznik, Krewella, Angelique Kidjo, Kelsea Ballerini, Nicole Scherzinger, Christina Grimmie, Victoria Justice and Q’Orianka Kilcher. A video is set to be released on September 11, and will include celebrities, scientists and others holding up messages of support for our environment.

While the artists want to convey a sense of urgency in fighting climate change, Bedingfield, who also helped write the song along with Gad, John Shanks and Sean Paul, says the song is ultimately meant to uplift others in regards to the subject.

“We wanted to write a song that is about how when you love something, you look after it,” Bedingfield said in a statement. “While we know about the environmental issues, we’re unsure if there is any hope. With this song we wanted to talk about the environment in a way that would help people feel empowered to do something rather than be paralyzed by fear.”

Perry Farrell Talks Paul McCartney and Lollapalooza

COME TOGETHER: With headlining acts like Metallica and Sir Paul McCartney, “sentimental” is the word Perry Farrell, Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza founder, used to describe his feelings toward this year’s three-day music festival that begins today in Chicago’s Grant Park.
“Growing up as a little boy, the first band that I loved was The Beatles,” Farrell said at a cocktail party on Thursday at Nellcôte in the West Loop. “My big brother and my big sister had all the records. I was a little Beatles maniac, I had Beatles boots and a Beatles haircut. To know that Paul McCartney is going to be performing on stage at my party — the party I’m throwing — is a real shining moment in my life.”
Farrell collaborated with McCartney on his last record, but said he’s still amazed the former Beatle is on the bill. “I would never have told you in 1991 [the year the festival was created] that one day Paul McCartney is going to be playing on my stage. The fact that he is just gives me a beaming smile. My heart is beaming. Paul is a smart man and smart musicians decide to collaborate and perform at festivals. Even

Paul McCartney And Dave Grohl Performed Beatles’ Classic ‘I Saw Her Standing There’

What would it sound like if the Beatles reached nirvana? Probably a lot like Dave Grohl performing a Beatles song with Paul McCartney.

During McCartney’s show at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night, the former Nirvana drummer joined the former Beatle for a performance of “I Saw Her Standing There,” from the Beatles’ debut album, “Please Please Me.” This isn’t the first time McCartney and Grohl have performed the song, though. The two previously played the Beatles’ classic at the 2009 Grammy Awards, with Grohl on the drums.

McCartney and Grohl also previously worked together on “Cut Me Some Slack” from the soundtrack to Grohl’s documentary “Sound City.” The track, which they worked on with Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, earned them the Best Rock Song award at the 56th annual Grammys.

Saturday night’s London show also came with another big surprise. McCartney played “Temporary Secretary” from his album “McCartney II,” which Rolling Stone has called one of “the 12 weirdest Paul McCartney songs.” It was McCartney’s first live performance of the song since its release in 1980.

McCartney is playing a second show at the O2 Arena again on Sunday, so more surprises are likely in store.
