Everyone Missed Something In Those New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Photos

Few things are as great as knowing something before you’re supposed to. It’s the same feeling you get from yelling at Steve on “Blue’s Clues” about what the clues actually mean. He’s giving you that blank stare, not because he’s actually staring into a camera lens and can’t hear you, but because you’re a total boss.

Jon Snow will never have that feeling. Jon Snow knows nothing. However, we might know something new about him and where “Game of Thrones” is going. It’s all because of this photo:

After HBO released Season 7 photos, including this one of Sam and Gilly, fans have been frantically trying to decode what Gilly is reading.

Now, apparently, they have.

As reported by “Game of Thrones” fan site Winter is Coming, Redditor itsjayrr pointed out that the page seems to be out of George R.R. Martin’s book The World of Ice & Fire, which tells the history of Westeros. The passage talks about Azor Ahai, the person who’s supposed to save everyone.

See it here:

Upon our own inspection, it does seem like key words in the image do match up with the text from the book.

On the page from The World of Ice & Fire, we hear about “The Long Night,” a time when winter supposedly lasted for a generation. Then, a hero known as Azor Ahai came along to help rid the land of the White Walkers. A prophecy tells of the return of Azor Ahai, sometimes used interchangeably with the term The Prince That Was Promised. Either way, this legendary character is seen as the person who will ultimately save Westeros.

The paragraph further emphasizes the importance of the prophecy within the “Game of Thrones” universe and makes us wonder: who will be Azor Ahai?

Is it Dany? Is it Jon Snow? Someone else? The debate can go on and on.

Kit Harington told HuffPost that he didn’t care if his character, Jon Snow, is the Prince or not, which is probably for the best. If the page Gilly’s perusing is from The World of Ice & Fire, Snow has bigger problems.

Something is coming to “Game of Thrones,” and it ain’t winter …

It’s Ice Spiders.

Oh what a tangled ice web we weave …

Following the revelation about the book, we checked out our own copy of The World of Ice & Fire.

When you look at the specific section of text, it’s easy to notice that the rest of the page has a reference to the White Walkers using giant ice spiders. There’s even a picture of White Walkers with the spiders. If the book Gilly is using is some version of The World of Ice & Fire, continued reading will reveal the same.

Giant ice spiders have already been mentioned on the show. Old Nan told Bran about them back in Season 1, saying the White Walkers’ spiders were as big as hounds.

Are the spiders coming? Time will tell.

But, yeah, duh, why not?

If this book on the show is being looked to as fact, Sam and Gilly better hope they have Hagrid from “Harry Potter” coming to help. That dude loves spiders. Ron will probably want to stay home.

Ice spiders are coming.

“Game of Thrones” Season 7 premieres July 16.

Here’s The Religious Imagery You May Have Missed In Beyoncé’s Grammy Performance

The walking goddess known to mortals as Beyoncé took a cue from her more celestial siblings during a performance at Sunday night’s 59th annual Grammy Awards.

The artist, who took home awards for Best Music Video and Best Urban Contemporary Album, performed just two songs during the ceremony ― “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles,” from the album “Lemonade.” Throughout her time onstage, she used imagery that appeared to draw from myths about divine motherhood found in several religious traditions.

Twitter fans were quick to point out the religious references. Some suggested that she was embodying Oshun (also spelled Osun), a Yoruba deity associated with love, fertility, and female sensuality. Oshun is often depicted wearing yellow and surrounded by sweet, life-giving waterFolktales told about Oshun claim that she was involved in the creation of the world, and that all living things owe their existence to her.

As a result of the slave trade, a reverence for Oshun and other deities whose origins lie in African spirituality, like Yemonja, was carried across the Atlantic. Yoruban female deities are still worshipped in countries like Brazil and Cuba

Beyonce has channeled Oshun before, in the song “Hold Up” from “Lemonade.”

Others suggested that Beyoncé was evoking the Virgin Mary during her Grammy performance. In the Christian tradition, Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ ― the holy woman who brought God into the world.

In religious art, Mary is often depicted with a halo surrounding her head, symbolizing the fact that she is no ordinary woman.

Another ode to Christian art was reflected in the way the stage was set. For part of the performance, Beyoncé walked on a long table surrounded by chairs ― evoking Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper.” But this time, it was Queen Bey at the head of the table.

Several other fiercely feminine religious myths made an appearance in the performance. At one point, a special effect made it seem as if Beyoncé had multiple arms. It could have been a reference to Hindu deities like the mother goddess Durga, or Kali, who is associated with death, sexuality, and motherly love.

Later on during the show, Beyoncé lay on a bed of flowers, a possible reference to the Roman goddess of love, Venus.

The performance came days after Beyoncé announced to the world that she was pregnant with twins. Her epic tribute to divine motherhood ended with a quote from the poet Warsan Shire, whose work featured heavily in “Lemonade.”

“If we’re gonna heal, let it be glorious,” she said.

There’s One Huge Easter Egg In ‘Ant-Man’ You Might’ve Missed

For such a tiny superhero, “Ant-Man” is a big movie.

(Warning: Major “Ant-Man” spoilers!)

The film introduces us to the Ant-Man backstory, connects perfectly into the current Marvel timeline and even ties up some loose ends from another Marvel movie, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” That moment happens in the post-credit scene, which Marvel president Kevin Feige already revealed is a peek at “Captain America: Civil War,” something which “Ant-Man” director Peyton Reed also confirmed to The Huffington Post. But there’s something else you may have missed that’s an even bigger deal.

“Ant-Man” has Marvel’s first big Spider-Man reference.

Image: Giphy

OK, gosh, hold your horses.

We know Spider-Man is reportedly showing up in future Marvel movies, but rumors of an Easter egg in “Ant-Man” started getting around even before the first screenings. Spider-Man isn’t mentioned by name in the film, so we asked Reed for his thoughts.

“There is one Spider-Man reference,” Reed confirmed to HuffPost. “It really sort of became organic to our story.”

Reed said it all happened because of Ant-Man’s earlier encounter with another Marvel superhero, Falcon, which the director called a true “wish fulfillment” to see those two go against each other. As those who’ve seen the film know, this encounter results in Falcon looking for Ant-Man at the end of the movie. Then, when Michael Peña’s character, Luis, is telling Ant-Man, aka Paul Rudd, that someone’s looking for him, he mentions a female journalist.

Reed said, “This young journalist character, she’s sort of got this inside track and she makes a reference to [Falcon], ‘Okay, you’re looking for this guy. What are his powers? You gotta be more specific because we’ve got guys that do this and that,’ and it just made sense for the story.”

Image: Tumblr

When you watch the movie, look out for that moment. Like we said, she doesn’t mention him by name, but she lists specific powers that should now have your Spidey senses tingling.

The Oscorp Tower from the “Spider-Man” universe reportedly almost made it into the first “Avengers” film, and the building may or may not have made it into “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” depending on who you ask. Still, this is the first no-doubt-about-it reference to our own friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And that makes us feel pretty good.

Craigslist’s Most Bizarre ‘Missed Connections’

Did you miss out on love this past year?

Did you meet someone for a fleeting moment only to have lasting happiness fall from your fingers?

You’re not alone. In fact, your “missed connection” was relatively normal, compared to some of the people who tried to find a lost love via the “Missed Connections” page on Craigslist.

WTFark.com collaborated with Mandatory.com on a video dramatizing some of the strangest missed connections of 2014.

They are all wacky, but few were as touching as this one.

“Me, horse costume. You chicken mask. We made out in the second stall in the men’s room outside Hall D. Same place same time next year. I’ll be in a llama costume.”
