Danielle Harris Opens Up About Her ‘Near Death’ Experience During Delivery of Son Jagger

Almost a month after welcoming her baby boy, Danielle Harris is opening up about her difficult delivery.

Before sharing the story of her “traumatic” experience, the Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead star and famed scream queen, 41, wrote a sweet tribute to her 4-week-old son Jagger Maxwell — her second child with husband David Gross.

“Introducing … Jagger Maxwell Gross Born 10/8/2018 !!!!” she wrote on Instagram over the weekend, alongside the first photo the actress has shared of her bundle of joy.

“Mommy and Daddy are so lucky to be able to add you to our family. We are a fierce 4some now and can’t wait to watch you grow and live this life as our baby boy and little brother to the BEST big brother a boy could ask for!!” she continued, referring to the couple’s older son Carter Davis, 20 months.

Explaining why it took her so long to share her harrowing story — or even post a photo of her child — the mother of two wrote that she just needed a little time to herself.

“Giving birth is the most dangerous thing a woman can do in her lifetime … after my traumatic birth experience this time around, it took me a while to share a photo with the world,” Harris wrote. “Time was really needed to clear my head and bond with my baby just he and I in our own private little bubble.”

During the delivery, Harris had a “horrible eclampsia seizure on the operating table” and “blacked out,” missing the birth of her son.

“I saw moments of my life flashing before me in fast forward and I missed the birth of my baby,” she wrote. “Needless to say that was the closest to a near death experience as I’d ever come in real life.”

The Halloween franchise actress went on to share that she’s “forever grateful and blessed” to have made it out of the delivery room alive.

“Dying during childbirth was definitely not on my list of ways I thought I would leave this world and I’m glad to cross that possibility off my list,” she wrote.

“Women are warriors and I’m looking forward to being around many more years soaking up all these precious moments with my baby boys and family,” she continued. “After lots of tests I’m glad to say I have no damage to my brain and am ready to be the best mommy these boys could ask for.”

“Life is short. You never know when your number is gonna be up, so take time to enjoy what matters most,” Harris advised her followers. “Love one another and love yourself because the world wouldn’t be the same without you … ”

New & Lingwood Opens Store on Upper East Side

The British invasion of New York continues.
On Thursday, New & Lingwood, the men’s wear brand that traces its history to Eton High Street in 1865, opened the door of its first store in the U.S. The 2,300-square-foot, two-level unit at 970 Lexington Avenue, between 70th and 71st Streets, is only the third location for the label and joins the original 153-year-old shop in Eton as well as the flagship that has been on Jermyn Street in London since 1922.
The New York store offers ready-to-wear and furnishings on the main floor — including a vast selection of socks — and made-to-measure, formalwear and limited-edition silk dressing gowns on the second level. The store also boasts an unusual feature for Manhattan — an outdoor garden in the rear, which New & Lingwood can utilize for events in the nice weather.
New & Lingwood is one of several U.K. brands to make a move to Manhattan. In June, Harrys of London, the footwear and accessories label, opened a boutique at Park Avenue and 57th Street. Harrys is owned by billionaire real estate developer Charles Cohen, who also owns a majority stake in Richard James and is close to opening a 2,000-square-foot flagship for that brand next door.

Frances Valentine Opens Pop-up, Offers Kate Spade-Inspired Special-Edition Items

Five months after the death of Kate Spade, the company she helped to start, Frances Valentine, is moving forward with its first retail venture — a Madison Avenue pop-up store.
Spade’s suicide in June at the age of 55 shocked the fashion community and the team at Frances Valentine has quietly been trying to carry on. Going into retail was always part of the business plan, according to chief executive officer Elyce Arons.
Asked how the company approaches such a delicate and complicated situation with care and without being exploitive, Arons said, “For us, it is our way of honoring Katy and keeping her spirit alive. We have a really small team in the office and it hit us all really hard. That first week, we had so many customers and friends of the brand write in — people who had known her a long, long time and people we had never met, who said please keep going — you have to keep her designs alive.”
Arons said, “We decided that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to embrace her spirit and the really good things that she brought to everyone. This has been a really happy, good thing. And it wouldn’t

Lingua Franca Opens First Store on Bleecker

NEW YORK — Lingua Franca is among the new storefronts on Bleecker Street here.
Rachelle Hruska MacPherson, who founded the brand of cashmere sweaters embroidered with phrases in 2016, opened her first store at 382 Bleecker Street earlier this week. The space is one of the seven storefronts Brookfield Properties bought earlier this year with plans to revive the neighborhood, a once-booming retail destination that became a bit of a ghost town in recent years. Lingua Franca, along with Prabal Gurung, Slightly Alabama and Bonberi and Fleurotica, are the tenants involved in the Love, Bleecker project done with Skylight and Brookfield to bring art, music and cultural programming to the neighborhood along with retail.
Hruska lives in the neighborhood with her family. Her husband Sean MacPherson owns the Waverly Inn, located on Bank Street. “We’re super committed to the neighborhood, and I’ve always been interested in what happened on Bleecker,” said Hruska MacPherson. “When I moved to New York 15 years ago, that’s where I went to hang out and shop and pretend to be cool. It was sad to see it be dead and fall to all these crazy high rents.”

Maison Atia Opens Pop-Up in Chicago

Faux fur brand Maison Atia held its first Chicago pop-up shop and pet adoption event over five days — from Wednesday to Sunday — at PAWS Chicago, a Chicago-based animal shelter.
“It’s really about showing our brand to Chicago for the first time with the PAWS community,” said Chloe Mendel, the creative force behind Maison Atia. In partnership with the animal shelter, her brand’s tagline, “Buy a coat, save a puppy,” means that every coat sold, whether at a pop-up event or online, helps provide a homeless dog or cat transportation to a no-kill shelter.
Mendel is a sixth-generation furrier and daughter of Gilles Mendel, whose previous fashion stints included designing ready-to-wear and couture for her family business J. Mendel. She launched Maison Atia in November 2017. “The faux fur world was untapped and looked at, kind of, like rock ‘n’ roll. I want to change that conversation and really discern the quality of the faux fur. I look for color and quality,” said Mendel, who splits her time between New York City and Chicago, where she lives with boyfriend and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, their son Augustus Juppiter, daughter Philomena Clementine, two dogs and two cats.

Marcia Patmos Opens Brooklyn Store for M.Patmos With Focus on Community

Six years after officially launching her M.Patmos brand, Marcia Patmos has opened her first store in Brooklyn.
Located at 380 Atlantic Avenue, the lofty space offers her designs and a range of other products, including art books, records, organic beauty products and home decor. Jewelry from local designers, sneakers from Alumnae upcycled styles from the Los Angeles-based VisionQuest, cashmere blankets and throws from Saved and zero-waste pillows from Oliver Yaphe are some of the pick-up items for sales. Photographer Sarah Bird’s “Trees” exhibition is on view, too.
Patmos said of the opening: “I thought it was a good time, because people are interested in independent designers. There are two things happening. There’s the Amazon world and there’s also people, who like to go into a store to touch things, speak to a person and find special things that you don’t find on Amazon, etc.”
To design the space, Patmos used as many recycled goods as she could, “stalking” The Big Reuse in Gowanus for salvaged goods like mirrors, shelves and other finds. With large bay windows, old wood floors and tin ceilings, the designer wanted the interior to have an industrial feel. She made the clothing racks from plumbing pipes. To keep things

‘Made in France’ Brand Rue Begand Opens First Store

PARIS — One is in Troyes, a city in eastern France with a deep-rooted textile history. The other is located in the Haut Marais, a trendy shopping district in the center of Paris.
Rue Begand — the men’s fashion brand — has opened its first brick-and-mortar store on the Rue Charlot, after launching wholesale in January at L’Exception in France and United Arrows in Japan.
Doubling as the label’s headquarters, the shop sports a photo studio in its basement where the fall 2018 and spring 2019 collections were shot for the Rue Begand e-shop, set to launch in a couple of weeks.
Named after a street in Troyes that used to house a number of clothing workshops, the brand is a celebration of local savoir faire.
“Eighty percent of our clothes are made in Troyes,” said Rue Begand’s founder Samuel Granata, adding that the remaining part is manufactured in a nearby town, with a few of the more voluminous pieces being made in Tunisia.
Rue Begand works with L’Atelier d’Ariane, a historical clothing manufacturer based in Troyes run by Granata’s mother Véronique. “My family has had the atelier for over 20 years,” said the 25-year-old founder, who runs the brand with his brother Arthur. “I spent most of

David Mallett Opens New York Salon at The Webster

David Mallett is bringing his signature brand of Parisian-chic hairdressing to New York.
Mallett, an Australian native whose taxidermy-filled eponymous salon in the Second Arrondissement is something of a fashion insider institution in Paris, is set to open a third location — his first in the U.S. and first outside Paris — on the top floor of Laure Hériard Dubreuil’s The Webster in SoHo, on Oct. 16.
The 1,600-square-foot space will operate as a full-service, eight-chair salon, with color, cutting, styling and treatment services overseen by Mallett himself and staffed by longtime employees of his Paris salons, including two hairdressers, two colorists and a client director. Mallett, who opened his second outpost at The Ritz Paris in 2016, will split his time between New York and Paris going forward.
The salon on the fifth floor of The Webster was designed by French architect Charles Zana to replicate the style of Mallett’s Paris salons, which are inspired by French-style craftsmanship. Lamps, furniture and other decor were custom-made for The Webster by François Pouenat, a fifth-generation French artisan metalworker. In a nod to his native Australia, Mallett partnered with Australia-based Dinosaur Designs’ Louise Olsen on accent pieces. Mallett purposefully to designed the New York space

Pomellato Opens New Beverly Hills Boutique

Milanese jewelry house Pomellato has returned to Beverly Hills after a two-year absence with a new boutique at 214 North Rodeo Drive in the Two Rodeo Drive complex.
The flagship’s design blends California style with Pomellato’s Italian craftsmanship, unconventional luxury and contemporary style within its 1,700-square-foot space. The Los Angeles boutique reflects Pomellato’s new store concept, created by Dimore Studio. With its signature lacquered Montenapoleone red on the facade and the iconic band ring featured as a door handle, the store recalls midcentury classic architecture.
The house’s signature is “new precious” gemstones — unconventional colored gems that extend beyond the traditional classics. Established in 1967 in congruence with California’s Summer of Love as well as the women’s movement, Pomellato introduced the prêt-à- porter jewel concept for the independent woman. Pomellato’s iconic collections such as Montenapoleone, Iconic, Sabbia, M’Ama Non M’Ama and Nudo are all displayed in the store.
The interior is divided into three areas whose walls are embellished with a texture of gold chains and oval lines, repeated in the surrounding furnishings. Midway through the boutique, the signature graphic carpet lays on the floor as a warm and colorful reminder of the brand’s heritage.
Customers are invited to discover the jewelry through special

Muytjens Switches Gears, Opens Inn in Berkshires

Frank Muytjens has traded fashion for hospitality.
The former men’s chief has partnered with artist and entrepreneur Scott Edward Cole to open a luxury bed-and-breakfast inn in the Berkshires. Called the Inn at Kenmore Hall, it will open today.
The inn at 1385 State Road in Richmond, Mass., is a 6,675-square-foot, 18th-century estate that has been restored and modernized while conserving its historical Georgian architecture. It sits on 20 acres of woodlands, orchards and gardens in a town that is around two-and-a-half hours from Manhattan and one-and-a-half hours from Boston.
The inn will have five luxury rooms, each with a working wood-burning fireplace. There is also a one-bedroom carriage house suite with living room, kitchenette, sleeper sofa and private outdoor seating area. Pricing ranges from $ 450 to $ 650 a night.
“The minute we saw the property, we both knew that it would be our next endeavor,” Muytjens said. “Scott and I love the fact that the house has fostered so many artistic explorations. The deep-rooted creative history, combined with the stunning classical proportions of the Georgian architecture, is grand but not imposing. We have worked to preserve the architectural integrity, but imbue the inn with modern luxury.”
He added that after parting ways with J. Crew,

RHOC’s Kelly Dodd Opens Up About Her Cosmetic Procedures: ‘No Pain, No Gain’

Kelly Dodd is sharing her beauty secrets.

The Real Housewives of Orange County star stopped by PEOPLE Now and discussed her tips and tricks to achieving youthful and glowing skin.

“We’re all women and we need to share our secrets,” said Dodd, 42.

In January, the reality star got a “vampire facial,” a.k.a. microneedling.

“What they do is they draw blood and they take the plasma, they spin it, and they take the plasma out of your blood, so it’ll be like liquid gold basically,” she explained. “It’s supposed to put the collagen and all of the good stuff from your plasma of your blood and they needle it. They have this little needle, so they put the plasma in it.”

Asked if it’s painful, Dodd said, “Well, they numb you.”

“I mean, no pain, no gain, right?” she said.

Following the facial earlier this year, Dodd shared photos of her bloody face.

“Micro needling with PRP is a miracle!! It helps tighten the skin builds collagen. It helps with acne scars, hyper pigmentation. IT DOES NOT HURT!” she wrote.

“The end result of micro needling,” she captioned another. “I look like a bloody mess!”

Selfridges Opens Eyewear Pop-up With Lily Cole’s Brand, Wires

THROWING SHADE: Selfridges is teaming with model and social entrepreneur Lily Cole to unveil a new collection from Wires, an eyewear brand cofounded by Cole and Yair Neuman.
The pop-up will run until July 15 in Selfridges’ personalization area on the lower ground floor.
For the second collection, Neuman took a modular approach to the design: An invisible hinge was added on the wire frame to allow the wearer to collapse and store the sunglasses with ease.
The sunglasses are created to be completely customizable, with lenses that can be switched and interchanged. “It’s a nice way to marry off a desire for newness and new designs and allow people to experiment and play — but to do so in a way that is less demanding on the material,” Cole said.
The wire frames — handmade by a family-run business in Italy — retail between 140 pounds and 270 pounds and the interchangeable rims retail at 50 pounds.
To mark the opening of the pop-up, Cole and Neuman have created a special-edition pair of glasses inspired by Selfridges’ heritage, priced at 220 pounds.
Sustainability was also a driving force behind the design. “We minimize waste in the production process because we 3-D print the rim instead

Sean Lowe Opens Up About 4-Week-Old Son Isaiah: I’m Excited to Watch My Boys ‘Grow Up Together’

Father’s Day is just around the corner and this year, Sean Lowe is celebrating two times over.

“I take so much pride in fatherhood,” the 34-year-old former Bachelor — who welcomed his second child with wife Catherine Giudici Lowe, son Isaiah Hendrix, on May 18 — tells PEOPLE.

Lowe and his wife Catherine are also parents to Samuel Thomas, 2 next month. And just like with their first child, they didn’t find out the sex of the new baby until his birth.

“I was very surprised that we had another boy. I couldn’t believe it for a second when I saw after he came out! I was mentally prepared to have a girl.”

Continues Lowe, “So far everyone is saying he looks like me. Which is great because with Samuel, everybody says he has his mama’s face and my coloring. So it’s nice that I have a kid who looks like me now.”

And the father of two says he’s excited to one day teach his boys some of the lessons he learned from his own dad.

“My dad was always the one who would rather do something himself rather than pay someone else to do it,” says Lowe, who has partnered with Lowe’s and CRAFTSMAN.

“I want to take that same spirit and instill it in my sons. It’s such a valuable tool to have — if something goes wrong, I can fix it myself! Not to mention I can have something to pass down to them. The CRAFTSMAN Mechanics Tool Set will last forever.”

RELATED: Catherine Giudici Lowe Feels “Absolutely Complete” After Son No. 2: “It’s Been So Surreal”

For now, the former reality star is grateful to be getting some stretches of snoozes (“Isaiah is a great sleeper!”) and treasuring the moments of brotherly bonding.

“Samuel constantly wants to give him kisses and Isaiah just lays there and takes it and never cries,” says Lowe. “He’s such a chill baby.”

“I just think it will be so fun to watch them grow up together and be best friends,” Lowe shares. “I’m really excited to watch the dynamic as these boys grow into men.”

RELATED VIDEO: Happy Father’s Day to Some of Our Favorite Dads!

As for the big day on Sunday, “I just want quality time with the kids and Catherine,” says Lowe. “There’s a donut shop down the street from us so we’ll walk down there as a family. And we might go to the community water park. It’s really hot in Dallas!”

Still, Lowe admits it sometimes feels “bizarre” to actually be a father. “I feel too immature to have a family sometimes,” he says with a laugh. “But our goal is to fill our home with laughter and love, and we do that every day.”

He explains, “It’s fun to be goofy, while still maintaining discipline. I crack a lot of jokes at Samuel’s expense. But he’s going to grow up with a good sense of humor and always knowing how much his dad loves him.”

Harrys of London Opens New York Flagship

NEW YORK — Charles Cohen is just getting started.
It was just over a year ago that the billionaire commercial real estate developer purchased Harrys of London, a U.K.-based footwear and accessories label. And today, Cohen has opened the doors to the brand’s first retail store, a boutique with 770 square feet of selling space on Park Avenue and 57th Street. The store is adjacent to a space that will house a 2,000-square-foot Richard James store, the other British men’s wear brand in which Cohen bought a majority stake last March. That store is expected to open in late August.
Both brands were personal favorites of Cohen’s and were searching for new owners, so the developer stepped up and purchased them. But he’s hardly been an absentee owner. He serves as chairman for both labels and has immersed himself in reinventing the brands by modernizing and updating them.
“It’s been an exciting adventure,” Cohen said. “And it’s gone better than I ever imagined.” In fact, he said he’s just about to finalize his third fashion acquisition, one that will be “complementary” to Harrys and Richard James. He declined to provide more details, but said this one is not a British brand.
At Harrys, Cohen parted ways

Suitsupply Opens Store in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg Neighorhood

Suitsupply has become a go-to spot for Millennial men seeking fashionable, modern tailored clothing. And so the Amsterdam-based company is moving into one of the neighborhoods where they spend a lot of their time: Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
On Thursday night, Suitsupply threw a party to celebrate the opening of its new store at 57 Wythe Avenue, just steps away from the Brooklyn Brewery and Brooklyn Bowl.
This store joins the company’s units in SoHo, on Madison Avenue and in Brookfield Place in Manhattan, but is its first in a borough.
“We have a huge customer base here,” said Fokke de Jong, founder and chief executive officer of Suitsupply, who was in New York to host the party. “This area is booming and we have a good, solid online business here, so it’s a very logical place for us to open. It’s so cool to make landfall here.”
The store is located in the same building as the William Vale boutique hotel, which has a popular rooftop bar and pool. “At night and on the weekends, people are always strolling around. There are a lot of younger families and young people, so it’s cool for us to make landfall here.”

Diamond Disruptor Vashi Opens Store in London’s Mayfair Near Bond Street

DOUBLE THE DIAMONDS: Vashi, the diamond jewelry brand that allows customers to design their own rings and other jewels, has planted a flag at 13a Grafton Street in London, not far from rivals such as De Beers, Boodles, Mappin & Webb, Cartier and Tiffany & Co., which are all located on or around Bond Street in Mayfair.
The 1,000-square-foot store is a five-minute walk from Vashi’s Piccadilly flagship and features an on-site jewelry workshop, a diamond-shaped work surface for collaboration with jewelers and client consultation spaces.
It’s smaller than the unit at 46 Piccadilly, which spans 1,500 square feet over two floors, but at a party this week to mark the opening, founder and chief executive officer Vashi Domínguez said the store serves a specific purpose. “Here, we attract the Bond Street customer. There’s not a big customer overlap with the Piccadilly store.”
Such is the diversity of central London shopping that certain neighborhoods, even if they border each other, can attract a different clientele. Piccadilly is more about tourists and locals, while Grafton Street attracts ultra-high-net-worth individuals and big-spending foreigners.
Although the stores’ addresses are different, Vashi’s approach is the same: Domínguez, whose background is in diamond wholesale and retail e-commerce, wants his customers

The store, which offers women’s and men’s collections alongside jewelry and watches, is dotted with artworks and mirror-effect furniture, such as Guillaume Piechaud’s polished steel Galet table and Maria Pergay Gerbe’s console.
It features a herringbone-patterned parquet floor, nodding to house founder Christian Dior’s taste for 18th-century furnishings.
To mark the opening, Dior has created limited-edition products, including 30 pairs of J’Adior sunglasses and 16 pairs of crocodile-leather detailed sneakers.
There are also exclusive versions of Dio(r)evolution and Dior Addict bags; Dior Motion and Dior(r)evolution shoes; a Milieu du Siècle rose gold and diamond ring from the Archi Dior collection; a Dior Homme T-shirt with golden bee embroidery, as well as the BMX Serie 2 bike from the collaboration between Dior Homme and bike specialist Bogarde.

Alton Lane Opens Flagship in TriBeCa

NEW YORK — Alton Lane is going big for its 13th store.
The custom men’s wear brand on Friday will debut an 1,800-square-foot store at 7 Harrison Street in TriBeCa, its most ambitious and highest-profile opening to date.
“We view this as our flagship,” said Colin Hunter, cofounder and chief executive officer.
Alton Lane was founded in 2009 by Hunter and his college buddy Peyton Jenkins to offer high-end custom clothing and furnishings at an affordable price. The company uses 3-D body-scanning technology and offers a one-on-one experience in a relaxed environment.
The company also operates a store in the Flatiron district of Manhattan, but that location on the fifth floor is more of a destination. Because the brand has so many customers that live or work downtown, it made sense to open a store in that area.
“We looked for an opportunity for a location that was more accessible,” Hunter said of the bright, corner space in TriBeCa.
In addition to a large assortment of fabric books and a variety of fit models of suits, sport coats and dress shirts, the store also features a fully stocked bar with bourbon from Elijah Craig, a private poker room, several televisions and seating areas.

Palais Galliera Retrospective Opens Margiela Season in Paris

PARIS — Martin Margiela is having a moment, and not just on the catwalk.
The Belgian designer, who left his namesake company in 2009, is the subject of a retrospective at the Palais Galliera, the fashion museum of Paris, which opens to the public on Saturday. “Margiela Galliera — 1989/2009” is the first big exhibition in France dedicated to the designer, who helped to curate the show.
In parallel, an exhibition focusing on his work as artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear at Hermès will open at Les Arts Décoratifs later this month, after debuting last year at the MoMu Fashion Museum in Antwerp. “Margiela: The Hermès Years” is scheduled to run here from March 22 to Sept. 2.
Margiela, now 60, not only questioned the structure of garments, but also challenged the structure of the fashion system by opting to remain anonymous, staging his shows in venues like car parks or vacant lots, and giving his clothes a plain white label with no brand name.
The Palais Galliera show comes at a time when designers from Demna Gvasalia at Vetements and Balenciaga, to Kanye West with his Yeezy lines, are reviving Margiela signatures like oversize clothing and nude body stockings.

Boucheron Opens Vendôrama Show With Evening Event

MINGLING AT THE MINT: Guests at Boucheron’s interactive Vendôrama anniversary exhibit began their journey at the back door of the 18th-century Hôtel de la Monnaie. Who would guess that it would open on to a graffitied tunnel?
The uninitiated might be forgiven for missing the references in the tags: 1858 — that would be the year the house founder Frédéric Boucheron opened his first store — and Quatre for the jewelry line launched in 2004.
Inside a temporary exhibit space sitting in the courtyard, visitors were served up a mix of screens, live actors, and jewelry displays, set amidst rich green foliage including ivy — a traditional inspiration for the house. Even the guidebook was interactive, with pages folding out to reveal details of the jewelry on display.
“There’s a rock ‘n roll feel to it that I like,” said Charlotte Rampling, noting the unexpected presentation style, as the lighting on a collection of Quatre rings suddenly switched off behind her, making them disappear for a spell.
On one wall, guests could snap metal beads onto a giant replica of the asymmetrical Question Mark necklace—and have their photo taken there — while a display of Serpent Bohème necklaces jutted out of a tall, red lacquered

Cremieux Opens Second U.S. Store, Creates New Label for Dillard’s

Cremieux has embarked on a dual-pronged growth strategy as it works to increase sales.
The French brand, which got its start in Saint-Tropez in 1976, has opened its second store in the U.S. and has also created a new contemporary men’s brand for Dillard’s, its longtime American retail partner.
On Dec. 1, Cremieux opened an 800-square-foot boutique at the Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach, Fla. This joins the company’s SoHo store on Mercer Street that opened nearly four years ago.
A Florida store has long been on the wish list for Stephane Cremieux, chief executive officer of Cremieux and son of founder Daniel Cremieux. “Ever since the brand was founded, we wanted to open a store in Florida,” he said. “So when this opportunity came up, we took it.”
He said the recently renovated Royal Poinciana center is “a special place” with a curated assortment of luxury brands. “You can’t call it a mall. It’s like being in a summer house with fountains, lots of green and palm trees.” The center is home to 30 stores including Cynthia Rowley, Hermès, Magasin, Orlebar Brown and Serenella.
The design of the Cremieux store is very reminiscent of Saint-Tropez, he said, with photos of the French Riviera and

Lutwyche Opens Bespoke Shop on Madison Avenue

The British invasion into New York City continues.
Following in the footsteps of Huntsman and Thom Sweeney, two U.K. tailors that recently set up shop in the city, Lutwyche has also entered the fray.
The London-based bespoke maker has opened an appointment-only shop at 717 Madison Avenue, where it will create custom clothing for customers from an upscale location on the third floor.
The brand was founded by Tony Lutwyche in 2000 and currently offers bespoke and made-to-measure clothing as well as a small ready-to-wear collection. The ready-to-wear is carried at several Saks Fifth Avenue stores and Lutwyche also hosts trunk shows at the Saks stores twice a year.
His new 3,000-square-foot shop will not carry the ready-to-wear but will focus exclusively on custom and made-to-measure clothing.
Before starting his business, Lutwyche attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst and was a major in the cavalry. It was there that he got his first taste for sartorial dressing when he had to buy his officer’s uniforms from Savile Row tailors. “They were reassuringly expensive,” he said, “but the experience was disappointing and the product was great, but musty.”
Once his military service ended — and a short stint in the banking world proved not to his

Thom Sweeney Opens First Store Outside the U.K. in New York

NEW YORK — Thom Sweeney is making a statement with its first U.S. store.
The London-based brand that got its start as a bespoke maker in 2006, today will take the wraps off a 3,000-square-foot store at 362 West Broadway in SoHo — its first unit outside its home country.
The store stocks the brand’s ready-to-wear — which it started producing in 2013 — and has a large room dedicated to fittings for its signature made-to-measure and custom garments. It also features a special cutting room where a U.K.-based cutter will visit once a month to tend to clients along with a bar and lounge areas to encourage customers to stay a while.
“We think it stands out because there’s nothing else in the area like it,” said Thom Whiddett, who founded the brand with Luke Sweeney.
The two men met while they were both working for British tailor Timothy Everest — Whiddett as an apprentice and Sweeney as the head of the made-to-measure department. They decided to team to create the Thom Sweeney label, setting up shop in a small apartment in Mayfair, where they took private orders.
In 2009, they opened a bespoke studio in a former art gallery on Weighhouse Street, followed

Katy Perry Opens Up About Being a Judge on American Idol: ‘I’m a Straight Shooter’

America, get ready to roar! Katy Perry is searching for the next “Kelly Clarkson.”

PEOPLE sat down with the “Swish Swish” singer at a special event hosted by a Denver Boys & Girls Club — where lucky members had the opportunity to meet, ask questions, and play Just Dance 2018 with the pop star. There she revealed just how much she plans to idolize authenticity during her first season as a judge on the American Idol reboot.

“My personality is that I’m a straight shooter — almost to a fault,” says Perry. “I just value authenticity so much that it can sometimes get me into trouble, because I take this job really seriously. I don’t want to walk away from American Idol and just have a season go by and we don’t have any Kelly Clarkson because that means we’re just filling space on television and I really truly want to be able to do this exercise and make someone’s dream come true.”

The ABC vocal competition series is set to premiere on Sunday, March 11, hosted by Ryan Seacrest with Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie on the judging panel.

“It’s kind of like that good old fashion American dream: we find you, you work hard, you compete, you get tested in every way and you rise to the top if it’s meant to be for you. So I believe in that great American dream.”

And aside from sitting back and judging America’s next biggest star, Perry has also been on the hunt for America’s latest and greatest Halloween costume — right from her “Witness: The Tour” ensembles!

“If I wanted to pull out a candy-type creation I could, but I think that there’s a necessary evolution. You can’t always be that one thing, and I like trying new things. I like experimenting musically, sonically, and with my sense of style. Trends change and I like to start trends, not necessarily follow them,” she says. “ say there’s one costume maybe like every year that kind of like rises to the top and becomes a Halloween costume, and that’s when you know you’re doing something is when people dress as you for Halloween.”

Making sure to “wear whatever I want,” Perry’s famed peppermint dress evolved into a crop top that lights up to display a variety of messages, including words like “kiss” and images of peppermint candy.

“I think my peppermint dress from the California Dreams tour was one of my favorite ones ’cause it was mechanical. I flipped a switch every single night I went on and the bra started spinning. Now I wear an LED bra that has all the spinning things that I’ve worn on my tata’s,” she says.

“I like all my costumes now,” Perry continues of her favorite stage pieces. “I have a gold one in particular that I wear every once in a while for special occasions that makes me feel like I’m in Star Wars.”

With a series of dazzling bodysuits, latex getups and sheer cutouts, Perry says she’s “happy” about her figure.

“My body’s changing and I’m like, ‘It’s winter, and I’m like hibernating. I’m storing the foods, I’m thick, I’m happy about it,’” she says. “There are things that I wear that sometimes I feel like I look great in them, but you don’t have to be like skin and bones.”

Thirteen Grammy nominations later, making RIAA history as the first artist to earn three Diamond Song Awards and even launching her own collection of shoes and fragrance, the “Roar” singer remembers the times when she wasn’t on top of the world.

“I never had it come easily, and a lot of people forget sometimes that people had to work really hard to get here — especially when they’ve been around for so long they’re like, ‘Well, you were just born this way.’ It’s like, ‘Oh no, oh no,’” she says.

“I got to a point where I finally could help take care of my family a little bit, and that made me feel so good. I get to help take care of my sister and my nieces and stuff like that,” she adds. “ makes me feel like ‘Wow, they’re never gonna have to struggle like we did as a family growing up because all of our arguments were about money.’”

Her biggest ‘I made it’ moment?

“I played the Super Bowl and I didn’t trip, and I didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction!” an ecstatic Perry says of taking the stage at Super Bowl XLIX in 2015. “Super Bowl is kinda like touching the ceiling.”

Sprayground Recruits Biaggio Ali Walsh for Ads, Opens Pop-up Shop in Times Square

IN THE RING: Pre-holiday pop-up shops in New York are routine but one with ties to the late Muhammad Ali is unexpected.
As the Vacant New York site can attest to, there is no shortage of shuttered storefronts in Manhattan. Nationwide the situation is not much better with store vacancy rates in the U.S. expected to be 11.8 percent in the fourth quarter of this year and slightly higher next year, according to the web site Statista.
To help offset that, if only temporarily, the New York-born brand Sprayground has opened a weeklong shop at 140 West 42nd Street and as of Nov. 21, founder David Ben-David is showing off his fandom for the late Muhammad Ali. Through an alliance with Muhammad Ali Enterprises, his company has developed a commemorative collection that includes a $ 70 embroidered backpack, a $ 70 duffel bag and a $ 350 keepsake box with a few items including embroidered boxing gloves. Elizabeth Smart Opens Up on Triggers for Painful Memories: ‘I’ll See Something … and It’ll Take Me Back’

By all accounts, Elizabeth Smart is doing remarkably well.

The 30-year-old is living a normal life — something that she never dreamed possible after she was kidnapped from her bedroom late one summer’s night in 2002 and brutalized by her captors, Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Barzee, for nine months before being rescued.

Smart got married five and a half years ago. She lives in lives in Park City, Utah, with her husband, Matthew Gilmour, and her two children, Chloe, 2, and 8-month-old James.

But Smart still has moments where she remembers the trauma she endured as a teenager.

On Monday, she spoke with Access Hollywood’s Natalie Morales and Kit Hoover to promote her upcoming television projects — I Am Elizabeth Smart, a movie that premieres Nov. 19 at 8/7c on Lifetime, and the second half of her two-part documentary special, Elizabeth Smart: Autobiography, which airs tonight at 9 p.m. on A&E.

During the interview, she spoke about various triggers that bring the horrific memories back to the surface.

“I have been so blessed,” she says. “I have been so lucky. I have not struggled with PTSD. I mean there are moments where I’ll see something or maybe I’ll smell something and it’ll take me back.”

“One time I was visiting my grandma and she had a book of Russian art on her table,” Smart continues. “I was flipping through it looking at it and there’s a picture of Rasputin in there, and I saw a picture of him and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. That looks just like Brian Mitchell.’”

Despite the traumatic memories, Smart says that she’ll tell her children about her ordeal when they get older. “I’m certainly not going to hide it from them,” she says. “Already, I struggle with not wanting to be so overprotective, but protect them enough. Finding that balance, that’s hard.”

“I talk to my daughter all the time and say, ‘nobody has the right to hurt you, or scare you, or make you feel afraid,” she says. “And if anyone ever should, you need to tell me.”

Todd Snyder Opens City Gym 2.0 Pop-up in Flatiron District

NEW YORK — The Todd Snyder brand has grown quite a bit since the first City Gym opened in collaboration with Champion Sportswear in NoLIta in 2013.
Not only has the label been sold to American Eagle Outfitters, but the designer has operated his own eponymous store in the Madison Park district for the last year. He has also kept busy working on collaborations with brands as varied as Timex and New Era.
But Snyder still found the time to whip up the second iteration of his original retail concept, a pop-up called City Gym 2.0 that opens today at 108 Fifth Ave. at 16th Street.
“The first one did so well, it was open for 1 and a half years,” he said during a walk-through of the store on Thursday. “We had an opportunity to take over this space, so we decided to open City Gym 2.0, a more modern take on what we did downtown.”
The original pop-up had more of a locker room aesthetic, but this has “more of a heritage vibe,” he said.

He said he was drawn to London and to Selfridges, given their international appeal and the opportunity to have direct contact with customers through the pop-up space.
As Korean pop culture gains momentum internationally, Jung’s vision is to create as much interest in Korean design as there is in the country’s beauty industry and music. During the most recent Seoul Fashion Week, he drew

Reign Opens in the Meatpacking District

Santino LoConte believed there was something missing from the men’s retail experience in New York.
“You have your department stores, but I’m not a fan of the large format shop-in-shop. It’s a little overwhelming for me to go to Barneys and walk through multiple floors of men’s product,” said LoConte, who is 29. “They do an excellent job, but it’s not a one-stop shop for someone with a certain aesthetic and a certain fashion sense.”
The 1,600-square-foot store, which will open to the public on Oct. 19, is located in the Meatpacking District at 807 Washington Street, which used to be occupied by Nicholas Kirkwood. The space is minimal with a 12-foot circular skylight and a courtyard that will be used for a variety of activations and exhibitions.
The shop is 60 percent ready-to-wear, 30 percent footwear and 10 percent accessories. LoConte has stocked the store with brands including R13, Mr. Completely, Tim Coppens, Public School, Stone Island, Kappa and Maharishi. Going forward the boutique will also carry Issey Miyake’s Pleats Please collection, Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Balmain, Martine Rose, Rick Owens, Our Legacy and Juun.J, which isn’t being sold at any other retailers in New York. LoConte has plans to integrate more high-end

Ali & Jay Opens First Permanent Store

PROOF OF CONCEPT: Contemporary brand Ali & Jay has moved forward with permanent retail following last year’s pop-up tests.
The Los Angeles label, which shares a parent with Bailey44 in The Bailey Group, launched last year as an entry-level contemporary dress brand that’s sought to fill the gap between fast-fashion and traditional contemporary pricing.
The 700-square-foot permanent store at Westfield Century City will mirror the pop-up concepts the company tested in Malibu and Santa Monica by carrying third-party brands in addition to its own.
“I think that our pop-up’s journey through L.A. was a fun test for us as an L.A.-based brand to explore different neighborhoods,” said Ali & Jay general manager Melissa Niednagel, who added that Century City reflects a central location for shoppers.
The brand is also evolving from being simply a dress line as a result of its pop-ups where it heard from consumers what they wanted. That led to a broadening of the assortment beyond dresses and into more two-piece sets, jumpsuits and rompers. The company also has launched a graphic T-shirt offering under its own label in line with its evolution.
Niednagel said the T-shirt collection “brings to life the strong, empowered feminist voice that’s driving the spirit of the

SPREADING OUT: Zimmermann has expanded the number of its freestanding stores to 26 with the opening of a new boutique in the Meatpacking District in New York. The 2,000-square-foot store, which has a light, airy, feminine feel, is based at 652 Hudson Street. It features Zimmermann’s ready-to-wear, swim and resort collections. The Meatpacking store is the brand’s fourth New York store, following stores in SoHo, the Americana Manhasset and East Hampton, N.Y.
Opened late last month, bestsellers at the new store include Zimmermann’s painted heart folds dress ($ 1,600); the painted heart flutter dress ($ 1,150); the painted heart silk shirt ($ 850); the painted heart silk bodice ($ 640), and Zimmermann x Cutler & Gross sunglasses ($ 440).
Keeping with its Australian roots, the store was designed by Australian architect Don McQualter of Studio McQualter. The company declined to reveal first-year sales projections.
“We have always loved New York, and its energy and have spent a lot of time in the city over many years,” said designer and founder Nicky Zimmermann. She said the company collaborated with Cutler & Gross to design an exclusive five-piece sunglasses collection. In addition to the New York store, the sunglasses will be available at stores in Bal Harbour, Fla., London, Los

A$AP Rocky Opens New York-Style Bodega at Selfridges Selling Krispy Kremes and Slogan T-shirts

HIS FAVORITE THINGS: A$ AP Rocky is no stranger to fashion, having appeared in campaigns for brands ranging from Dior to Zalando and designing capsule collections for Guess. For his latest project, he’s moved into retail with a pop-up at Selfridges that’s been designed to resemble a New York-style bodega.
The musician, a loyal customer of the Oxford Street store, wanted to re-create the bodega experience in his native New York — still one of his favorite cities — so he put together a patchwork of his favorite things, ranging from doughnuts to hoodies.
“Rocky was born and raised in New York, where you’ll find bodegas on every block,” said Matthew Henson, fashion director of the musician’s creative collective, AWGE. “We felt like this was an experience that was only happening in New York City. I mean, there’s small one-stop shops elsewhere, but there’s nothing like a full bodega experience. So we took some of his favorite items and things he’s always wanted to make, and opened up the shop in London, which is one of his favorite cities.”

Isaia Opens San Francisco Store in Frank Lloyd Wright Building

Italian luxury men’s wear brand Isaia has opened a boutique in San Francisco, its third Stateside, located in the historic Frank Lloyd Wright building at 140 Maiden Lane that was one of the original blueprints for the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Formerly home to the V.C. Morris Gift Shop, the store boasts 7,900 square feet of space, with 4,000 square feet dedicated to retail sales, incorporating a bevy of unique design elements.
“It is all about the space,” said Gianluca Isaia, chief executive officer and third generation of the family-run company. “We kept the integrity of every design feature intact. As an update to the store’s existing beauty, we focused on adding a color-sensitive lighting schematic, sound system and the styling of our product to complete the experience. It was much like restoring a masterful piece of art to its glory and giving it a new personality.”
Taking over a landmarked building was no small task, because none of the original materials could be touched or modified, including the original wall plaster, millwork, trim, flooring railings, bubbled ceilings and, of course, the brick and stone façade. Planning required the interior of the space to be painted the exact color that Wright

John Hardy Opens Third U.S. Store in Westfield Century City Mall

Balinese jewelry brand John Hardy is set to open its third U.S. store in the newly renovated Westfield Century City mall this month. The 700-square-foot boutique aims to be an immersive retail experience, weaving together scent, sound, light and art in a reimagining of the John Hardy jewelry workshop in Ubud, Bali.
Designed around a hammered silver wall featuring an organic bronze sculpture and three vitrines, the rest of the store beckons clients to navigate the boutique like the island of Bali itself, walking around its natural edges and exploring tactile vignettes. True to founder John Hardy’s creative vision as an artist and environmental sculptor, the boutique walls showcase collections in a gallerylike presentation, encouraging guests to interact with the product.

“Over the past year, John Hardy has expanded its U.S. presence with its first boutique locations in Houston and New York. The Japanese brand, which was founded by Hiroki Nakamura in 2001, has set up a temporary shop in TriBeCa at 180 Duane Street, which is home to the Williamson retail space that opened earlier this year.
The store mimics the brand’s early flagships that were titled F.I.L., which stands for Free International Laboratory. The space features white pedestals to display the luxury brand’s popular footwear, Jibari-Shiki lanterns from Kyoto and a fabric divider that hangs over the main entrance that’s covered in an American flag. The store also includes a lounge area where shoppers can try out footwear.
The outpost will carry the men’s and women’s collection and exclusive items from the F.I.L. Indigo Camping trailer.

Noah Opens Store in Tokyo

Noah has landed in Tokyo.
The streetwear brand, which was relaunched in 2015 by Brendon Babenzien, the former creative director of streetwear brand Supreme, has set up shop in Harajuku with the Noah Clubhouse, a 2,500-square-foot boutique that’s designed to mimic a home rather than a store. Babenzien’s wife, Estelle Bailey-Babenzien, designed the space.
“The goal is for it to be a place where people feel like they can do more than just shop,” said Babenzien. “In New York, the store is really like a home away from home for us. We have friends visit us there. I take meetings there, etc. It’s really not just a place to buy things.”
The two-story Clubhouse features a gallery, library, study area, an open-plan living area and kitchen, a men’s salon, a dressing room and an outdoor balcony. It’s decorated with wooden fixtures and artwork from Oliver Jeffers, Curtis Kulig, Henry Leutwyler and more. The artwork in the gallery will change every six months.
According to Babenzien, Noah has never wholesaled in Japan, so this will be the first time customers can purchase something from a store as opposed to Noah’s e-commerce site. The shop will also be stocked with Tracksmith running apparel, Aprix footwear, Taschen books,

Berluti Opens First Los Angeles Area Store

Berluti’s Parisian world of leather goods has made its way to the Los Angeles market.
The Paris-based maker of shoes, accessories and apparel bowed its first boutique in the Los Angeles area, located in Beverly Hills on Brighton Way. This marks the company’s second stand-alone store in California after South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. The company also has a shop-in-shop store at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco.
“This emblematic Beverly Hills address is an affirmation of our presence in the U.S. and marks the opening of our fifth store in America,” said Berluti chief executive officer Antoine Arnault in a statement. “The innovative new concept pays homage to Los Angeles while remaining faithful to Berluti’s deep traditions in the art of leather and patina.”
The 1,100-square-foot space was designed with herringbone patterned wood floors, gray walls, onyx and lacquered fixtures and touches of bronze.
The Beverly Hills boutique, which held a soft opening this week, exclusively carries Berluti’s Playfield sneaker in natural lizard.
The company, founded in 1895 as a shoemaker, has since gone on to introduce leather goods in 2005 followed by apparel in 2011.

Acne Studios Opens San Francisco Store; West Hollywood to Follow

Acne Studios this week opens its fifth U.S. store and second in California on Geary Street in San Francisco. The 967-square-foot store is a former ice warehouse that has been rebuilt in red brick with architectural elements painted the same shade of red as the Golden Gate Bridge.

Acne Studios’ San Francisco store.

“I wanted this store to have a special mood both for the location and for San Francisco itself. It is a large and beautiful space, and we have therefore kept the fixtures to a minimum,” said Acne’s cofounder and creative director Jonny Johansson.
The store has a raw industrial feeling, with ceiling-high windows, a poured concrete floor and perimeter walls clad in polycarbonate sheets colored in milky off-white. The sheets stretch floor-to-ceiling and clip together to create the sense of a space within the space.
A long aluminium wall stretches across the entrance, with a single aluminium display rail and a bespoke bench in front of it. Behind this wall, the aluminium fittings, shelves and tables give ample room to stand on their own. The lighting, which hangs from the ceiling in a uniform grid pattern, was specially designed for the store.

American Artist Miranda July Opens Charity Shop in Selfridges

TAKING A STANCE: Selfridges is continuing its mission of enriching shoppers’ in-store experiences. This time, the U.K. department store has teamed with the artist, writer and filmmaker Miranda July and the London-based arts organization Art Angel to create the U.K.’s first interfaith charity shop.
The shop, located on the third floor of the department store, will be run by four religious charities chosen by Miranda July: Islamic Relief, Jewish charity Norwood, London Buddhist Centre and Spitalfields Crypt Trust. It will offer a mix of products, just like other charity shops across the country, including secondhand clothing, ornaments, toys and kitchenware.
“For many years I’ve wanted to make a store as artwork; utilizing the inherently participatory conventions of commerce,” said Miranda July, who is known to create a range of artworks that depend on public participation. “When I first came to London, in my 20s, I was giddily amazed by the sheer number of charity shops, but it’s only in creating this store with Artangel that I understand what a radically unique economic model they are. The nuances of this come from my faith-based charity shop partners and from the site, Selfridges.”
The proceeds will be shared equally between the four participating charities and

COS Opens Downtown L.A. Store, Chicago Up Next

GROWING SCENE: COS is set to open the doors to its 5,511-square-foot store in downtown Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.
The space, located within the 90-year-old Olympic Theatre building, places it roughly a block away from the Broadway and Ninth Street corridor that a cluster of retailers — including Mykita, Tanner Goods, Aesop, BNKR, Acne and A.P.C. — call home.
COS partnered with The Gentlewoman, the British magazine, on a map available in-store pointing out Los Angeles landmarks. Among the stops are the building where the new COS store sits along with the Eames House, Frank Gehry’s residence and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
In late 2015 the minimalist retailer, part of H&M Group, tested the downtown market with a pop-up shop designed in collaboration with design firm Snarkitecture.
“L.A. has always been a city of huge importance to the COS brand and the architecture, art and design scene here are all points of inspiration to our creative team,” said COS managing director Marie Honda. “We are very happy with the brand’s growth in the U.S. and look forward to introducing more stores into the market in 2018.”

Five Four Opens Pop-up in Los Angeles

Five Four is dipping back into the brick-and-mortar game.
The online men’s wear retailer, which started out as a streetwear brand with multiple mall stores in California, has teamed with Alfred Coffee at 8428 Melrose Place in West Hollywood on a pop-up shop.
The temporary store celebrates the launch of Oshenta, Five Four’s new eyewear brand, and FiveFourMan.com, which will go live this fall. Five Four sells merchandise from each of its private labels on separate sites. FiveFourMan.com will bring all of these assortments together under one platform.
“We wanted to create a place where people could touch and feel and see the product,” said Andres Izquieta, who cofounded the business in 2002 with Dee Murthy. “It’s been a good experience to talk with the customers about product and show them our vision off-line.”
The 350-square-foot space, which will be open through September, carries fashion items from each of Five Four’s brands, which includes Five Four, its core line, New Republic, its footwear line designed by Mark McNairy, Grand AC, its activewear line, and now Oshenta, its eyewear collection. Izquieta said the pop-up is a traditional retail experience, but customers are able to see the full inventory from three in-store iPads from which they can order products.

Selfridges Opens the World of Issey Miyake

MADE IN MIYAKE: Selfridges is furthering its relationship with the Japanese label Issey Miyake with a new shop-in-shop that opened in its Designer Galleries space on Tuesday, home to brands including Proenza Schouler, Rosetta Getty and Michael Lo Sordo.
The World of Issey Miyake boutique spans 506 square feet and stocks the brand’s main line as well as the Pleats Please and Bao Bao labels. It offers up to 180 pieces from the pre-fall 2017 and fall 2017 collections; reflecting a 20 percent increase in the retailer’s overall buy from last season.
Olivia McEwan, the store’s designer women’s wear buyer said the increase in the company’s seasonal buy was reflective of customer demand. “In past seasons, there was an increased demand from our customers for ready-to-wear pieces across the main line and Pleats Please that we were unable to satisfy due to stock availability,” said McEwan, adding that the brand is one of the best sellers across the department.

Anita Dongre Grassroot Opens First U.S. Flagship

Artisanal purveyor Anita Dongre Grassroot has opened its first flagship in New York. The space— located at 484 Broome Street — is filled with clothing and accessories produced by traditional Indian craftspeople.
Dongre currently operates stores in Mumbai and Delhi. The New York store is her brand’s first stand-alone presence in the U.S.
Embroiderers, weavers and sewers use their traditional techniques to create contemporary designs — tops, scarves, dresses and vegan sandals. The Grassroot brand aims to support these traditional trade crafts and empower female artisans.
She said of the strategic decision to enter the U.S. market: “I have always wanted to see Indian craftsmanship enjoy the attention of a global audience. With Grassroot, I design clothes that are beautiful and hold a purpose. My heart lies with the female artisans in villages who are the protectors of ancient textile crafts. My goal is to create designs that sustain the crafts while doing good for them and for the planet. With New York’s diversity and natural ability to bring out the best in fashion, I was keen to bring Grassroot to the epicenter of the world of fashion to present a point of view built on patience and heritage.”

“It’s a strategic location that appeals to our core customer,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, chief executive officer and president of Perry Ellis International, which owns Original Penguin. “Aspen is very popular during the summer for its outdoor activities and festivals, which are some of our brand’s key pillars. The new store will help us to round out our efforts in building our retail vision for the brand.”
The shop features nods to Original Penguin’s 60-year heritage along with Aspen-inspired finishes. The space is stocked with Original Penguin’s men’s collection and focuses on lifestyle merchandising, but it will also serve as a venue for in-store events. Feldenkreis said they will hold these events in partnership with local businesses in Aspen.
According to Feldenkreis, the decision to remain permanent will depend on how well the store performs over the next few months.
Original Penguin is reassessing its retail footprint. They are in the process of relocating their Miami International Airport store to a larger location and will renovate their New York flagship on Sixth Avenue near Bryant

Gina Rodriguez Opens Up About Her Anxiety

One of the many reasons we love Gina Rodriguez: She’s not afraid to get real with her fans.

The “Jane the Virgin” star posted a video on Instagram this weekend in which she indicated that she has anxiety. The clip, part of a project called “Ten Second Portraits” by her friend Anton Soggiu, features a fresh-faced and smiling Rodriguez.

“Bare and exposed in the streets of LA. No makeup. No styling. Just me,” the caption reads. “I suffer from anxiety. And watching this clip I could see how anxious I was but I empathize with myself. I wanted to protect her and tell her it’s ok to be anxious, there is nothing different or strange about having anxiety and I will prevail. I like watching this video. It makes me uncomfortable but there is a freedom I feel maybe even an acceptance. This is me. Puro Gina.”

The 32-year-old often takes to social media to talk about matters that are important to her ― feminism, body positivity, politics ― but this mediation on mental health is particularly great, as there’s frequently a stigma surrounding the topic.

And, as Rodriguez notes, there shouldn’t be. Studies have shown that people with anxiety actually perceive the world differently ― why not celebrate that?

Kudos to you, Gina, for being such a warrior.

If you suffer from anxiety, here are some psychiatrist-backed tips to manage it.

Dancing with the Stars’ Rashad Jennings Opens Up About Being Bullied as a ‘Chubby’ Teen with a 0.6 GPA

Rashad Jennings understands firsthand the effects of childhood bullying, and is making it his priority to set a positive example to the next generation of leaders.

The Dancing with the Stars finalist spoke at Bright Star Secondary Charter Academy in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning, where he answered students’ questions and opened up about how he overcame the odds as an overweight, fifth string running back with a 0.6 GPA in high school and advanced to the NFL.

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE, 32-year-old Jennings reveals that he was bullied as a teen, which is one of the reasons that he now wants to be an uplifting role model to students in the way that he leads his life.

“I was definitely bullied,” Jennings tells PEOPLE. “I was made fun of a lot because I was a 0.6 GPA, chubby kid with glasses and all that good stuff. But I was just goofy enough not to show people how I was feeling inside. That’s why I say you never know what somebody’s dealing with behind their eyes, because I personally just don’t do a good job of showing my struggles unless I tell it. It doesn’t come off my face.”

Jennings, who will compete against Normani Kordei and David Ross next week for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy in the DWTS season 24 finals, recently binge-watched Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, which opened his eyes up even further to the negative impacts of teasing and bullying.

“There’s so many different metaphors in of how a kid can get to that position and you don’t even realize it — in a matter of a couple months how from home life, maybe no attention or don’t feel comfortable to open up, every kid’s been there,” says Jennings. “It makes you stop and analyze how a couple decisions that you can make and how you speak to somebody could push them right over the limit.”

Thankfully, despite being bullied in his teen years, Jennings says he never contemplated taking his own life “because unlike the show, I did have outlets and people that listened.”

“It just reminded me of why I enjoy talking to kids about the importance of uplifting each other and being wholesome,” Jennings says reflecting on the Netflix series, and adds, “because you don’t know — you never know what somebody’s dealing with in their heart and behind their eyes. We don’t have that ability.”

FROM PEN: Learn The Process Behind Selecting TIME‘s 100 Most Influential People

Although Jennings humbly believes that “there’s nothing special about me, I just always find myself in special positions,” he is using his celebrity and voice for good.

“Kids need to see something worth mimicking. I know that I do too. I personally need to see something worth mimicking to give me encouragement to stand on the things that I believe in and know to be true,” he says about the importance of speaking to students. “To give them a hope that dreams come true, hard work pays off, that you can become anything that you desire, because sometimes you forget that in everyday work. Even adults — we forget that. We quit striving because we’re comfortable and that’s another type of failure to me.”

“For these kids, especially in high school, they are looking for substance,” he continues. “You don’t know if you’re planting a seed in somebody’s life or watering it. I never know which one I’m doing, and so I’m always conscious to do one or the other.”

Dancing with the Stars‘ season 24 finale airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Lardini Opens First Store in Japan

MILAN — Lardini’s first store in Japan has opened in Tokyo’s Marunouchi shopping district.
The unit covers 1,080 square feet and is marked by an almost entirely transparent facade with an expansive door that allows a view into the interior. Garments are displayed behind two glass windows between natural-stone cubes and smokescreens in woven glass.

The brand, which was launched in 1993, is no stranger to Japan — one of its biggest markets, and where it is already widely distributed via an extensive network of multibrand shops and department stores.
This is the sixth unit for the Italian brand, following three in Seoul, Busan and Daegu, South Korea; one in Xi’an in China, and one on Milan’s Via Gesù.
In Tokyo, the venue includes a Gabriele Pasini shop within a shop. The brand is also owned by the company, which is controlled by the Lardini family.
A parquet floor in natural oak was installed in a herringbone pattern which evokes the flooring of old villas and the walls are clad in ribbed oak paneling. The changing rooms have been fully carpeted in soft taupe. A large contemporary chandelier contrasts with the dark-gray ceiling.

Palace Opens First U.S. Store

In the middle of Palace’s new New York flagship there’s a bronze cherub-like sculpture holding a “P” and urinating into a P-shaped pool of water. On its Instagram account, Palace, a popular streetwear brand based in London, identified the structure as a fountain of youth and a temple of pea pea.
This type of humor is intrinsic to Palace Skateboards, which was founded by Lev Tanju in 2014, and the fountain is Instagram bait for the young crowd — people started to gather at 49 Howard Street on Thursday afternoon in anticipation of the store opening on Friday morning.

Company officials declined to comment about the store and its entry into the American market.
About an hour before the shop opened at 11 a.m., things were civilized and a sizable line of shoppers snaked down Mercer Street — at one point the crowd erupted in excitement when YouTube star Casey Neistat skateboarded down the block. Then the store opened and disorder ensued, so much so that the New York City Police Department had to close down the shop and turn away customers.
“Palaceskateboards should have had a system in place for something like this. [It] could have taken people’s names down or something. [I] waited in the

Tie Bar Opens Madison Avenue Pop-up

NEW YORK — The Tie Bar has entered the men’s wear fray on Madison Avenue — at least for the next six months.
The Chicago-based men’s furnishings brand has taken a temporary space at 400 Madison Avenue between 47th and 48th Streets for a pop-up shop to showcase its new dress shirt collection in addition to its assortment of neckwear, socks, pocket squares, tie bars and other accessories.
Allyson Lewis, chief executive officer, was in town to put the finishing touches on the shop, which will have its official opening on Thursday.
“This is a very different location for us,” she said. “It’s more of a work destination, but we are a workwear brand at heart.”
This marks the third pop-up the Tie Bar has had in New York. Its other two were in SoHo and Greenwich Village. It has also had pop-ups in Boston and Washington, D.C.
The brand launched dress shirts last October and released its second collection in early April. “In October, we focused on core wardrobe staples but now we have more seasonal fashion — light spring colors and fabrics,” she said. “And they’re performing very well.”

Dress shirts are a new addition for Tie Bar.

She said there are no plans to offer sport shirts

Jonathan Scott Of ‘Property Brothers’ Opens Up About His First Marriage

“Property Brothers” star Jonathan Scott is opening up about his first marriage.

In People magazine’s April cover story (featuring his twin Drew as well, whom he stars on several HGTV shows with), the 38-year-old dished on his first marriage to an airline crew scheduler named Kelsey. The marriage, which took place in 2007, ended two years later because the two were young and rushed things, according to Scott.

“She wanted to get married on 07/07/07,” Scott said. “So it wasn’t something that naturally happened.

Though the marriage ended, the “Property Brothers” star said he gained lot from the experience.

“I think that one of the biggest things I learned is that you can have two good people who are just not good for each other,” he said. “I’m glad that we found that out early. You know, we didn’t have kids or anything. And it really helped me understand what I wanted in a relationship.”

These days, Scott told People he’s dating 28-year-old Jacinta Kuznetsov, a producer for his company Scott Brothers’ Entertainment.

Stone Island Opens Pop-up at Kinfolk

Stone Island has established a presence in Brooklyn.
The Italian men’s wear brand, which has been trending with the streetwear community in the U.S. for the past couple of years, has set up a pop-up within Kinfolk, a men’s wear store in Williamsburg that’s sold Stone Island’s Shadow Project since it opened in 2014.
The pop-up is located on the upper level of Kinfolk’s store, which is located at 94 Wythe Avenue. Kinfolk also runs a café and a club, which sit next to its shop. Kinfolk is the only third-party retailer that will be carrying Stone Island’s Marina collection, which is also available at the brand’s SoHo store. The pop-up opens to the public today and Kinfolk celebrated the launch on Thursday night with a party.
“I think they were drawn to our ability to mix retail and nightlife,” said Keith Abrams, a co-owner of Kinfolk. “And we’ve always been excited by their mix of technical design and function.”
Most of the collection is on display at Kinfolk and it includes hooded jackets, striped T-shirts, shorts and bags covered in the Stone Island Marina logo. The collection is priced from $ 128 to $ 998 and the pop-up will be open through April. Kinfolk also housed

Gabourey Sidibe Opens Up About Undergoing Weight-Loss Surgery

For Gabourey Sidibe, weight-loss surgery wasn’t about taking the easy way out.

The “Empire” star writes about dealing with depression, anxiety and bulimia before she underwent laproscopic bariatric surgery in May 2016 in her new memoir, This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare

The actress struggled with her weight for more than a decade before she decided to go under the knife and writes she knew the surgery would mean making real changes to her life.

“My surgeon said they’d cut my stomach in half. This would limit my hunger and capacity to eat. My brain chemistry would change and I’d want to eat healthier. I’ll take it! My lifelong relationship with food had to change,” she writes in her memoir, due out May 1.

In an interview with People, the 33-year-old further opened up about her decision to undergo surgery, which she said was tied to the fact that she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

“I just didn’t want to worry. I truly didn’t want to worry about all the effects that go along with diabetes. I genuinely [would] worry all the time about losing my toes,” she told the magazine.

While the surgery was motivated by health concerns, Sidibe is no stranger to body-image issues. She told People she’s learned to embrace her body, no matter what size she may be.

“There’s nothing ugly about me. Anyone trying to convince me that I am — and it’s usually me — is wasting her time,” she told People. “I was in a war with my body for a long time. If I’d started treating it better sooner, I wouldn’t have spent so many years hating myself. But I love my body now.”

Saks Opens Traveling Pop-up Shop for North Sails in Miami

MIAMI — Saks Fifth Avenue christened its wholesale partnership with North Sails Collection with a pop-up at its new Brickell City Centre store in Miami. The shop, which will be housed on the store’s third level during the month of March, will then travel to the retailer’s Union Square store in San Francisco in May, followed by Manhattan’s Brookfield Place in July.
North Sails’ foray into U.S. wholesale — it operates freestanding stores in New York; Annapolis, Md.; and Newport, R.I. — coincides with the 52 Super Series Miami Royal Cup regatta, which runs through March 11, when top local clients are invited to be in the center of the action on a spectator boat.
“Guys are interested in pop-ups and an elevated shopping experience, and we’re putting a lot of effort into them,” said Tom Ott, senior vice president and general merchandise manager for men’s wear at Saks Fifth Avenue, of the afternoon outing on Biscayne Bay, which he believes will appeal to Miamians’ outdoor lifestyle, sailor or not. “Once you do these experiential events, customers become loyal and excited about the brick-and-mortar experience.”

Mezlan Opens New York Flagship

Mezlan is joining the men’s wear fray on Madison Avenue.
The high-end Spanish footwear brand has opened a flagship at 520 Madison Avenue in the Jeffries Building, joining Thomas Pink, Eredi Pisano, The Art of Shaving, Hartmann luggage and Reiss of London.
The 1,275-square-foot shop was designed by Mezlan owner Antonio Sanchez in partnership with Zora Mobiliario SL, a Spanish architectural firm.
“The space has been empty for around one and a half years because they wanted someone who fit in and would be complementary to the other tenants,” said Jack Abelson, a retail veteran who now serves as Mezlan’s national sales manager.
The store, with its marble floors, leather furniture and upscale wood fixtures, is intended to mimic the handcraftsmanship of the shoes.
This marks the company’s seventh U.S. store. The first opened at The Palazzo hotel in Las Vegas in 2008, followed by units at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta, the 900 North Michigan Shops in Chicago, Fashion Centre at Pentagon City in Arlington, Va., the Houston Galleria and the Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara, Calif.

Dior Homme Opens New Store in South Coast Plaza

Dior Homme is maintaining its expansion, opening its seventh store in the U.S. at South Coast Plaza.
Owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and overseen by creative director Kris Van Assche, the luxury brand plans to unveil a clean, modern storefront in Costa Mesa, Calif., on Tuesday. Ruby Rose Opens Up About Her Sexuality And Thoughts On Marriage

“Orange Is The New Black” breakout star Ruby Rose is on the cover of Cosmopolitan this month, opening up about her feelings surrounding sexuality, marriage and what it means to be an activist.

Rose, who has previously described herself as “gender fluid,” generated a significant LGBTQ fanbase after her stint on the hit Netflix show. Now, Rose tells Cosmopolitan’s Laurie Sandell that speaking out about equality and LGBTQ rights are issues close to her heart.

“There are things that I’m always going to be very vocal about, like LGBTQ and animal rights,” the star told Cosmopolitan. “I have a platform and I can open up a dialogue, but I also know that I’m just an actor. I’m just another person with an opinion no better than anyone else’s opinion. I don’t overanalyze. I just write from the heart, post it, and hope for the best. Then I move on.”

Rose has also been linked to a number of different stars throughout her time in the spotlight, something she jokes about with Cosmopolitan when discussing her thoughts on marriage.

“According to the news, I’ve been engaged five times,” she quips. “For me, marriage is more about equal rights than the act of getting married. When you don’t have equal rights, it trickles down to kids who think, My aunt’s gay so she can’t get married, or I’m weird because I feel the same way. So it’s important to break down that barrier. I’m more interested in having a loving, healthy, long-term relationship with someone I might want to have kids with someday.”

Rose also opens up about being in touch with her own sexuality and the way that frames her own experiences as shenavigates the world.

“I’m very confident and in tune with my sexuality,” she continues. “I feel very blessed for that, because in different places around the world, people can’t be. I’m lucky I can explore. I have a very healthy sex life, and there’s something very empowering, strong, and feminist about being open and comfortable in that world.”

Rose is slated to appear on the fifth season of “Orange Is The New Black,” premiering on Netflix this summer and taking place over the course of three days.

Louis Vuitton Opens First Men’s Pop-up Store in Milan

MILAN — Louis Vuitton’s first men’s pop-up store in Italy, which was inaugurated here on Friday and will officially open Saturday, coincides with the city’s men’s fashion week and will close on Jan. 29. Located in the arty Brera district, the store carries the men’s spring collection exclusively in Italy, including shoes, bags, travel cases, accessories, small leather goods and watches.
The store has a distinctive artistic feel. The decor pays homage to Africa and the art of the Chapman brothers, who inspired Kim Jones, the brand’s men’s artistic director, on the spring collection. The renderings of the Big Five animals by brothers Dinos and Jake Chapman stand out on the walls, contrasting with the storied feel of the venue, with its antique fireplace and coffered ceilings.
“Brera is an interesting area and full of life, in which history, art and fashion blend and become protagonists,” said Jones, pointing to the relevance of the project in Milan as “the capital of men’s wear.”
Jones worked with the Chapmans to create four animal prints on the Louis Vuitton Monogram pattern, seen on ready-to-wear, accessories and leather goods, including two rigid beauty cases, available upon request.

Brioni Opens New York Flagship on Madison Avenue

NEW YORK — Brioni is taking its luxury Italian aesthetic to Madison Avenue here with the opening of a two-level, 5,974-square-foot flagship on 62nd Street.
The store is the second iteration of a David Chipperfield Architects Milan design that launched in Paris in July on Rue Saint-Honoré. But Gianluca Flore, chief executive officer of the Kering-owned Brioni, said the layout of the New York store allows for a fuller expression of the design.
“It’s even nicer than Paris,” he said. “That fact that it is two full floors allows for the concept to express itself in a better way.” The Paris store is also on two levels, but one is below ground.
The New York store, which opens Thursday, replaces a smaller unit on 57th Street that closed on Sunday. The flagship was intended to open in late October, but construction delays, due in part to the fact that the location is a residential building, pushed back the opening date.
The opening of the store comes as Brioni is in the midst of another reboot after a tumultuous 10 months. It parted ways with its then-creative director Brendan Mullane, tapped Justin O’Shea as his successor, and then pushed O’Shea out after six months following pushback from

After 41 Years in Business, Dok Kim Opens Second Store in Vero Beach

After 41 years in business, Dok Kim is the unlikeliest of retailers — self–made, still independent and having never advertised or had to deal with a return.
Dividing his time between a Nantucket store from May through October and a Florida unit from November until May, Kim recently relocated from Palm Beach, Fla., to a larger location in Vero Beach. The new 1,600-square-foot shop is located at 3315 Ocean Drive, and like his Massachusetts location, the decor is sparse save for his signature straw and leather handbags. But the longevity of his Dokkim label has taken a lot of legwork. “My history, it’s a fighting story. It’s not a business story, because it’s a struggle.” he said Tuesday. “First of all, in the whole world the quality of handbags is nothing. It’s a shame.”
Once consumers see his South Korean-made bags, which retail from $ 750 to $ 3,500, they recognize the workmanship and shoppers tend to become repeat customers. “The more people see how beautiful the bags are, the better the business becomes,” he claimed.
Challenging as it can be, the store owner generates $ 4 million annually, an improvement compared to last year. Raised in South Korea, Kim first arrived in the U.S. in

Todd Snyder Opens New York Flagship

Todd Snyder is putting a stake in the ground in New York.
The men’s wear designer today will open the doors to his first American flagship, a 4,500-square-foot store at 25 Madison Square North at 26th Street. The shop, right off Madison Avenue, will offer a curated assortment of Snyder’s tailored clothing and sportswear and will include pieces from his myriad collaborations with brands as varied as Champion and Globe Trotter. It will also offer a coffee shop/bar, a barbershop and an optical boutique.
“I didn’t want to open just another retail store,” Snyder said during an exclusive walk-through on Monday. “This store is all about interacting with the customer and providing a unique experience.”
He said most men remain “intimidated by shopping,” so the store is designed to “tear down the barriers” and make them comfortable.
“It’s not just a clothing store,” Snyder stressed. “It’s a great place to come for a seasonal wardrobe upgrade with a personal stylist, to get fitted for your next suit while enjoying an espresso or a beer, or to hang out with friends while getting a haircut and a shave.” The store was designed by Snyder in collaboration with James Mills.

Kering Opens Headquarters to the Public Again

OPEN DOORS: Due to popular demand, Kering on Sunday will once again throw open the doors of its new Paris headquarters to the general public.
The luxury group will allow access to its ongoing “Echos” exhibition gathering a selection works from François Pinault’s vast art collection. They include “Décor” (2011-2012), by Adel Abdessemed; “All” (2007), by Maurizio Cattelan; “Black Supper” (1991) by Andres Serrano, and “The last Supper” (1999) by Hiroshi Sugimoto.
Based at the former Laennec hospital on Rue de Sèvres, a hop away from swanky department store Le Bon Marché, the historic site was open to the public in September as part of the European Heritage Days. The event drew some 11,000 visitors across two days.
The event was a housewarming of sorts for Kering, which had only just moved in following a three-year restoration of the building. Resembling a quaint French village, the complex of stone buildings in cross formations spans about 185,000 square feet of space. It is also home to the Balenciaga headquarters.
The tranquil site also boasts a garden. “That’s our environmentally friendly side. We have fruit trees, we have bees. We’re going to make honey,” Kering’s chairman and chief executive officer François-Henri Pinault said at the site’s inauguration. “We’re going to make

Orlebar Brown Opens Miami Store

Orlebar Brown, the London-based swimwear brand, has opened a store in the Brickell City Centre in Miami. This is its third U.S. unit.
The 1,000-square-foot boutique is designed to blend into the region’s Art Deco beach heritage with a suspended “hut room” lighting display and concept fitting rooms, white corrugated materials and walls and tonal porcelain-tiled floors in an intricate herringbone pattern.
“Ever since I took the very first Orlebar Brown samples to test on South Beach, it has been a dream that we should open a store in Florida,” said founder Adam Brown. “What better natural home for Orlebar Brown than Miami — and it is truly exciting to be part of the new Brickell Centre.”
Orlebar Brown was founded in 2007 as “the tailored approach to swim shorts.” The pieces feature the same 17-piece pattern of a man’s suit trouser including side fasteners so they are intended to be as appropriate at a restaurant as in the ocean.
The brand operates seven stores in the U.K. and, with the Miami unit, 14 international stores around the world.

America’s First Black Female Prisoner Of War Opens Up About Her Struggle 13 Years Later

With dreams of being a chef and looking for a way to pay for culinary school, Shoshana Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1998. Then, while serving as a cook in a support unit during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Johnson’s life changed completely.

It was March 23, 2003, and Johnson was in a convoy traveling through the city of Nasiriyah. The convoy, however, made a wrong turn and came under enemy attack. No one in Johnson’s unit, including Private First Class Jessica Lynch, was a combat soldier, yet they found themselves in a deadly firefight.

“We lost 11 in the ambush,” Johnson tells “Oprah: Where Are They Now?”. “Eight of us were taken as prisoners of war; two died in captivity. Jessica was kept in Nasiriyah and five of us were taken to Baghdad.”

While in captivity with her fellow prisoners of war, Johnson ― the first African-American female POW in U.S. history ― says her mind kept racing. She thought of her 2-year-old daughter, her terrified family and whether or not she would survive long enough to see any of them.

“There were lots of times when I thought in captivity, ‘This is it. I’m going to die,’” Johnson says. “I also thought, ‘Well, I made it through the ambush. Why did God take me through the ambush to let me die now? I just got to hold on.’”

After 22 frightening days of facing the unknown, Johnson’s ordeal finally ended. “It was like a miracle,” she recalls. “Basically, the heavens opens up and these giant Marines came in to the rescue.”

Upon returning home, Johnson prepared for the long road to recovery, which included rehab due to the gunshot wounds on both her legs as well as psychiatric care for the mental and emotional trauma she endured.

“It wasn’t easy ― the Army actually gave me quite a difficult time about acknowledging my PTSD,” Johnson reveals. “I had to fight them in order for them to acknowledge that I was suffering from the condition and it was a direct result of my time in Iraq. I do have post-traumatic stress disorder. It’s something I deal with on a daily basis.”

Johnson says her PTSD also impacts her daughter, who is now 16.

“It’s me and her, every single day. She has to deal with the effects of living with someone with PTSD also,” Johnson points out. “So, I also make sure she gets regular counseling.”

In the years following her rescue, Johnson enrolled in culinary school to continue her dream of becoming a chef. She has also written a book about her experience as a prisoner of war and continues to use her story to raise awareness about the mental health needs of soldiers and their families.

“Volunteering in the veteran community is important because it gives me a sense of purpose. I’m here to help other veterans get through the struggle,” Johnson says.

Ultimately, the Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient is grateful for her life today.

“I know for sure that I am blessed. I get to see my daughter grow up and I’m pursuing culinary [work], which I absolutely love,” Johnson says. “And I know for sure that the bond that I have formed with my fellow prisoners of war will be with me until I am laid to rest.”

Robert Talbott Opens New York City Store

NEW YORK — Robert Talbott has brought a slice of Monterey to Madison Avenue.
The Northern California-based men’s wear brand has opened an 1,800-square-foot shop at 501 Madison Avenue, between 52nd and 53rd Streets, its first store in New York in many years.
“There are so many eyeballs here,” said Robert Corliss, who has been the company’s chief executive officer for the past five years. “Many years ago, we had a tiny shop here that sold only shirts and ties. But we do a lot of business in New York, people here know the brand and we have a fairly loyal contingent, and you really can’t buy it here.”
Talbott, a 66-year-old label that is known mainly for its high-end shirts and neckwear, focuses most of its wholesale efforts on independent retailers.
“We took the deliberate path to work closely with specialty stores,” Corliss said. “That industry is beleaguered, but I think it’s reached its low point. So we’re hoping we can help reinvigorate a good path in front of them.”
Instead of wooing large retailers, Corliss, whose extensive retail background includes ceo of Herman’s Sporting Goods and The Athlete’s Foot, has been focused on opening shops-in-shops at specialty stores around the country. There currently are about 10,

Fine Jewelry Brand Ara Vartanian Opens Harvey Nichols London Concession

SPARKLE PLENTY: Shortly after the opening of his first European store in London’s Mayfair, the Brazilian fine jeweler Ara Vartanian is partnering with Harvey Nichols to open a concession at the retailer’s new jewelry space.
A miniature version of the Mayfair boutique, the 110 square feet shop-in-shop concept features signature architectural elements, such as wooden panels and concrete-backed displays that evoke the intimate luxury for which Vartanian’s eponymous label is known.
The concession will stock a selection of jewelry, including a new line to launch for the holiday period, with prices ranging from 500 pounds, or $ 620, for entry-level pieces to 30,000 pounds, or $ 37,000, for one-of-a-kind items. Vartanian is known for sourcing rare stones that are often challenging to set, from iridescent opals to large tourmalines and rubellites. His rock ‘n’ roll two- and three-finger rings allow him to set these bigger stones without creating pieces that are too heavy.
“I’m still understanding the customer, so we are going to have a combination of all flavors in the Harvey Nichols space. I want to have an accessible price point, because being a new brand, I don’t want people to feel intimidated by my one-of-a-kind pieces with the crazy stones and crazy prices,”

Duchess of Cambridge Opens Magic Garden at Hampton Court

DUCHESS ON DUTY: Following a tour of India and Bhutan, Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday festivities and a visit from President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, the Duchess of Cambridge is carrying on with a series of royal engagements. She headed to Hampton Court to open Magic Garden, a new children’s play area, on Wednesday.
Designed by Robert Meyers with a moat and shrub maze, the garden is located in King Henry VIII’s former courtyard where, historically, jousting and tournaments took place. The duchess met with the teams involved in the design and construction, as well as children and families in the community. She attended a reception and unveiled a plaque to mark the opening. No stranger to recycling her wardrobe, she donned a blue-gray Michael Kors coat first seen during her royal tour to Australia in 2014 with LK Bennett heels.
As a patron of the Anna Freud Centre, she is slated to attend a lunch and meet with families from the center and supporters of the institution that increases awareness of children’s mental health issues. She was scheduled to head to the National Portrait Gallery later on Wednesday to view two portraits of her by photographer Josh Olins that are on display as a part

Pintrill Opens Brooklyn Store

Jordan Roschwalb’s enthusiasm for pins is infectious.
“I wanted to be able to give pin collectors a space to congregate just like sneaker collectors go to Stadium Goods,” said Roschwalb when asked about Pintrill’s first brick-and-mortar store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. “This will be a flagship where people from all over can come and experience this.”
Roschwalb cofounded Pintrill in 2014 along with Doni Gitlin and Andrew Yung. Over the past two years the brand has grown rapidly with its clever, of-the-moment pins, which retail from $ 12 to $ 20 and are released on a weekly basis.
The Pintrill flagship, which opens this Saturday at 231 Grand Street, sells Pintrill’s vast collection of pins. They are displayed on clear pegs to give the appearance that they are floating. The 625-square-foot space, which will also serve as Pintrill’s headquarters, is stocked with vintage pins Roschwalb sources from all over the word — they are featured on rotating trays in a glass box — and supplementary items to display pins such as vintage corkboards, trays and Pintrill’s line of hats.
Different displays in the shop, which is sprinkled with vintage toy viewfinders, will be dedicated to new weekly releases, in-store exclusives and a board behind the cash register

Gisele Bündchen Opens Up About Marriage Issues With Tom Brady

Just because two people appear to have no physical imperfections does not mean their marriage is picture-perfect, too.

Such is the case for Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady, who have had a bumpy year, to say the least — dealing with divorce rumors in the midst of the New England Patriots quarterback’s involvement in Deflategate.

On Tuesday, the 35-year-old opened up to Charlie Rose on “CBS This Morning” about their six-year marriage, revealing they’ve “been through a few tough times together.”

The supermodel went on to quash split rumors, explaining that they’ve gotten through trying times by leaning on one another and their loved ones.

”I think that’s when you know who are your friends and who loves you. My father always said, the quality of your life depends on the quality of your relationships, and I think, no matter how challenging it was, we’ve always been supportive of one another,” Bündchen told Rose. “I think that’s the most important thing you can have in life, you know? A support system and love.”

Of course, the couple has been dealing with trying times since they began dating nine years ago and soon discovered that Brady’s ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan was pregnant with his child.

It’s a subject the model has rarely discussed, but she called the situation a “challenging thing.”

“Here I am, you know, thinking I’m dating this guy … everything is great, and then this happens. So I felt I didn’t know what to do,” she said. “It was one of the moments like, ‘Do I just run away?’”

Of course, Bündchen didn’t run.

“Now, eight years later, I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter bonus child,” she said,  referring to Brady and Moynahan’s 8-year-old son, while she and the NFL player have two children of their own.

A photo posted by Gisele Bündchen (@gisele) on

Meanwhile, Brady previously spoke out against the rumors the couple were headed for a split in September.

“We’re in a great place, I’ll just say that,” the NFL player told  Boston radio station WEEI 93.7 FM. “I’m a lucky man. I’ve been very blessed with support from my family and certainly her, and there’s no bigger supporter that I have than her and vice versa. I’ve been very blessed to have an incredible relationship with my life partner, and I don’t think anything will ever get in the way of that.”

Comedian Who Lied About Surviving 9/11 Opens Up For The First Time

Comedian Steve Rannazzisi, in his first public comments since he was exposed for lying he was in the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks, explained how he believed his deception protected him from “cruel” fellow comedians and defined his career.

Rannazzisi, star of “The League,” apologized Tuesday during a 40-minute interview on Howard Stern’s radio show and addressed last months’ New York Times story that revealed he wasn’t working in the Merrill Lynch office on the 54th floor of the World Trade Center south tower when the north tower was hit. Rannazzisi recounted the fake experience to interviewers for years and claimed the ordeal motivated him to follow his dreams of being an entertainer.

“Do you think of yourself as psychologically disturbed? How do you view yourself after doing this thing?” Stern asked.

“Psychologically disturbed — I don’t know if that’s the way to put it,” Rannazzisi said. “I do see someone and am starting to figure out more about myself: codependency and wanting people to like me and to make people happy.”

The “why” is still unclear, he said.

“It wasn’t calculated at all,” he said. “It was as simple as sitting at the Comedy Store and everyone being like, ‘Hey, you’re from New York?’ ‘Yeah.’ ‘Were you just there? You were around?’ ‘Yeah, I was downtown.’ ‘You worked there?’ ‘Yeah, I did.’”

Within seconds, Rannazzisi said he felt he couldn’t set the record straight.

“You have like 15 seconds, I think, to kind of go, ‘Wait, hold on. Stop. I’m sorry. That’s not true.'” he said. “If you pass that 15 seconds … now, it becomes a thing where you’re like, ‘Now, I have to be the guy that’s very strange and weird and just said I lied about 9/11.’”

Once the fake story gained traction, Rannazzisi said the resulting sympathy gave him security in the brutal comedy community.

“I think it might have been like, comedians are cruel people, especially in the beginning,” he said. “And I kind of was like, well maybe people will not be as mean to me or not make as many jokes about me because they think that this is what I went through.”

When the Times confronted him last month with conflicting versions of his 9/11 story, Rannazzisi responded with a statement confirming that he had lied. The confession may be damning to his career, but he said he feels relief and is glad he can finally apologize.

“I know what I did was terrible, and I know that I hurt a lot of people — people that lost people, people that helped people survive — and those people, those are the people that I truly am sorry,” he said. “That’s why I wanted to come on here.”

SCAD Museum Opens With Oscar de la Renta Tribute

ATLANTA — Considering Oscar de la Renta’s close ties to the Savannah College of Art and Design, it was fitting that SCAD FASH opened its first fashion collection dedicated to the late designer.
The fashion museum, which officially opened Oct. 3 at the school’s campus here, was spun out of 10,000 square feet of space originally used for events, said Paula Wallace, president and founder of SCAD. The full-scale remodeling of the facade and interior began this summer and transformed much of the area into an elegant room that can be modularly changed according to the dictates of each exhibition it presents. Visitors enter by ascending a grand staircase that offers a dazzling panoramic view of the city.
The museum gallery is surrounded by fashion classrooms on two sides and leads into the library-style Film Salon, a lounge for visitors and the Assouline store with merchandise made by SCAD students, a fashion resource library, and a collection study and conservation lab.
SCAD celebrated the opening on Thursday with Champagne and hors d’oeuvres as guests toured the collection of Oscar de la Renta creations past and present, including some fall 2015 designs by Peter Copping, the fashion house’s creative director, who took the helm

Justin Bieber Opens Up To Complex Magazine About Being Arrested

Justin Bieber is Complex magazine’s latest cover star.

The 21-year-old, who was photographed by David Black for the mag, opens up about everything from his infamous arrest in Miami to how he deals with all the critics.

Speaking about that time he urinated in a bucket at a club, the Biebs said, “Honestly, I think the pissing in the bucket wasn’t as big as people made it seem. Just because, dude, think about it. Imagine, you hear that fucking Ozzy Osbourne pisses backstage. Immediately, ‘Oh, he’s a freaking rock star!’ As soon as I do it, ‘He’s being a brat.'”

He continued, “Dude, what is bratty about pissing in a bucket? I had to go piss — we all have to pee.” He has a point — we all do have to pee, but at least most of us have the decency to do it in a restroom, even if said restroom is on the opposite side of where we are.

The singer also called out the Miami police (who arrested and charged him for DUI and drag racing last year), saying, “they just wanted press.”

“I never was speeding; I never was drag racing … The cop supposedly wanted to be famous for arresting celebrities, and someone had heard him say that prior to that,” he said. “He was like, ‘Put your hands on the hood!’ I was like, what? I lifted my hands and I was like, ‘What do you mean, what’s going on?’ He was like, “I told you, put your hands on the hood! Now you’re under arrest for resisting arrest!'”

“I felt it, dude. I was just like, Oh, they’re trying to get me right now at any cost. I went in, and I’m telling you, that 24 hours sucked. It was really cold. That was the worst part.” Poor Biebs.

APC Opens in London’s Notting Hill

APC’S LONDON LATEST: APC has opened its third store in London, in the city’s Notting Hill area.
The 700-square-foot space, which had a soft opening last month, stands at 34 Ledbury Road, nearby Diane von Furstenberg, Zadig & Voltaire and Matchesfashion.com on the street.
Laurent Deroo architects — APC’s longtime collaborator — designed the store together with the Paris-based label’s founder Jean Touitou.
The store’s interiors make a feature of narrow, glazed gray ceramic bricks, designed to evoke London’s Victorian pub tiles, which are set in pale oak frames to form walls and partitions in the store. There are also brass light-fittings and pale wood floors.
The space carries APC’s men’s and women’s collections, alongside accessories, quilts and candles. It adds to APC’s existing London stores on east London’s Redchurch Street and on Lexington Street in Soho.

Comme des Garçons Pocket Shop Opens in New York

HOW CONVENIENT: Pocket, Rei Kawakubo‘s answer to the bodega, lands in New York City today at 112 10th Avenue. Comme des Garçons said it likens the Pocket concept, which launched in Tokyo department stores in 2007, to a modern-day convenience store for “pocket-sized items that you don’t have to think about too much and can buy on a whim.” That means mostly the Play, Wallets and Parfum collections.
Adrian Joffe, president of Comme des Garçons International, said the concept “celebrates the ease, efficiency and affordability of a convenience store.”
This is the first freestanding Pocket in the United States. There are now 30 Pocket shops worldwide in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand, as well as Singapore, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and Melbourne. The company’s Dover Street Market stores also have dedicated Pocket spaces, as does its Comme des Garçons store in Chelsea.

Kith Opens Redesigned Brooklyn Store

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Talk about being meticulous.
Ronnie Fieg considered every detail in the redesign of Kith’s Brooklyn location on Flatbush Avenue, which opened Monday.
The store, which was designed in collaboration with architecture firm Snarkitecture, is full of Instagram bait for Fieg’s sneaker-obsessed following.
“I’m invested in spaces as much as I’m invested in product,” said Fieg. “Building an experience is as important as building product because experiences stay in the memory bank.”
When shoppers enter the store, they are greeted by a Kith logo on a white marble herringbone floor, which is perfectly positioned for the brand’s snap-happy customers to shoot from above alongside the sneakers they’re wearing. On the ceiling there are 750 suspended cast-Air Jordan II sneakers, a design element that’s also featured at Fieg’s Manhattan store, which displays cast-Air Jordan I sneakers.
“The way I look at my brand and life is like a timeline,” said Fieg, who added that his women’s store, which is set to open in SoHo on Bleecker Street this December, will be decorated with cast-Air Jordan III sneakers.
Footwear from brands including Nike, Asics, Buscemi and Adidas are displayed on both sides of the store behind glass walls, lending a gallery feel to the boutique. On the other

Azzedine Alaïa ‘Couture/Sculpture’ Exhibit Opens in Rome

The Galleria Borghese museum in Rome on Thursday was brimming with tourists taking in the incredible collection of art on display, but Azzedine Alaïa was quite the showstopper himself as he walked through the building’s ornate salons with WWD for a preview of the “Couture/Sculpture: Azzedine Alaïa in the History of Fashion” exhibition. Signing autographs and posing for a few selfies with visitors professing enduring admiration, Alaïa carefully tucked a pleat here and fixed a drape there on some of the 65 designs on display. The looks seamlessly fit in with the art, whether they be bondage dresses in the Egyptian room or a crocodile jacket standing next to an antique armored bust.
“This is a mythical location, the most replete with masterpieces, and we did not want to move them around or disturb them,” said Alaïa, acknowledging the privilege of showing his designs in such a venue. Dresses in blue or red velvet stood near paintings by Caravaggio, almost reflecting the masterpieces’ lighting, while the designer’s dresses made with feather-light raffia and shells, horsehair or shark skin could have been inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s stunning marble statue of “Apollo and Daphne” depicting the nymph morphing into a tree. Joan Lunden Opens Up About Her ‘Emotional Breakdown’ After Cancer Treatment

It’s been one year since veteran TV host Joan Lunden heard the words that completely changed her life: “You have cancer.” Since then, she’s appeared in all her beautiful, bald glory on the cover of People magazine, tested negative for any remaining cancer and launched ALIVE, an online TV network where women openly discuss their own battles with the disease.

But the picture isn’t completely rosy. On Wednesday, Lunden spoke with HuffPost Live’s Nancy Redd and fellow breast cancer survivor Anne Marie Giannino-Otis about the often-underestimated challenges of recovery after cancer treatment.

“There are all these things that nobody tells you about. Everybody is focused on losing your hair. Okay, that happens, but your hair actually grows back. … [But] there are a lot of other things that live on after, and certainly one of the biggest ones is the fear of recurrence,” Lunden said.

When Giannino-Otis noted that many women see their treatment as a “security blanket” and often confront new fear when it’s over, Lunden admitted that the most challenging part of her cancer battle has been the time since she ended treatment.

“I can tell you that I had a total emotional breakdown, and to me, the time since the treatment has been far harder,” Lunden said. “There’s a separation anxiety element to [ending treatment], but mainly it’s just … kind of like, ‘Okay, go now, and have a nice life and hope it’s all okay.’ And it’s really hard after that. I mean, I will tell you the most emotionally difficult time for me has been since my last day of treatment.”

Queen Latifah Opens Up About Those Lesbian Love Scenes In ‘Bessie’

On-screen love scenes, gay or straight, should not be a matter of controversy, according to Queen Latifah.

Latifah spoke with BET about a same-sex kiss in the upcoming HBO biopic, “Bessie,” in which she stars as legendary blues singer, Bessie Smith, who was bisexual.

“You know, people feel a type of way when they see any sexuality on-screen, to me, and I think it’s almost human nature,” she said. “People are so fascinated by it. There shouldn’t even be a discussion, but it is because people are still curious and people still wonder how they feel about things. At the end of the day, I don’t really care if someone feels uncomfortable about it. It is what it is, and it’s life. So you either deal with it or not, you know? That’s your choice. It’s just part of who she is. I had to tell the story honestly.”

Latifah, who bares it all in “Bessie,” added that she hopes viewers don’t focus only on Smith’s romantic interests.

“I hope that it doesn’t become the sole issue because it’s really not just, you know, one thing about Bessie. There’s so many parts of who she was. [Her sexuality] was just part of it,” Latifah said.

In the April/May 2015 issue of Uptown magazine, the actress, who has faced rumors over her own sexuality, said she thinks that “people’s ideas in general are antiquated when it comes to who you love” and that society has not progressed quickly enough.

Emilio Pucci Opens Store in Miami Design District

WELCOME TO MIAMI: Emilio Pucci opened its third store in Florida, in the Miami Design District. Pucci’s famed Torre print, originally designed in 1966, embellishes the entire facade. Painted in giant black and white mazelike blocks, the facade appears like an optical public artwork hanging above the sidewalk. Inside, white terrazzo tiles and white walls provide a canvas for the colorful clothing hanging on open brass fixtures. The cashier’s table is cut from a rose-colored travertine stone, a key material in all new Pucci stores. Located at 140 NE 39th Street, the one-floor boutique spans 1,600 square feet. The full Pucci spring collection is available, as well as special gowns, beaded caftans and embroidered pieces that cater to the Miami clientele. The shop also features women’s and men’s swimwear and resort pieces from the Orlebar Brown + Emilio Pucci collaboration, as well as sunglasses by the brand’s licensee, Marcolin. Pucci’s other two stores are in Palm Beach and Aventura. In total, Pucci has five freestanding stores in the U.S. and 28 internationally.

Maison Kitsuné Opens Second New York City Store

NEW YORK — Maison Kitsuné has landed in the Lower East Side.
The French and Japanese fashion brand has opened its second New York City store on Rivington Street between Bowery and Chrystie Streets.
Although the block isn’t a prime retail destination, the 700-square-foot shop fits right in. It sits next to Green Fingers, a Japanese botanical shop that will fill the new space with plants, and is across the street from the Freemans mini empire, whose lifestyle proposition — it expanded from a restaurant to a barber shop and men’s wear brand — is quite similar to that of Maison Kitsuné, which started as a music label, evolved into an apparel brand, and now has two Café Kitsuné shops in Paris and one in Tokyo.
Masaya Kuroki, who cofounded the brand in 2002 with Gildas Loaëc, Daft Punk’s former manager, is pleased with the location.
“It’s important to feel the neighborhood. There’s already a life and culture here,” said the architect-turned-designer, who was happy to see three stylish men attempt to browse the store before it officially opened last Friday.
Kuroki thought in dichotomies when designing the store. While he wanted the space to be a rougher take than the brand’s first New York

Edwin Opens First Store in Germany

SUBCULTURE SPREAD: Japanese denim manufacturer Edwin opened its first store in Germany — a monobrand boutique in Berlin’s jeans district around Hackescher Markt — on Thursday.
“After Paris and London, we decided on Berlin because Germany is a big and important market. It’s also the most open and creative city, the home of subculture, and that’s what denim is,” said Edwin brand manager Pierre Boisselle.
The Berlin store carries the complete men’s and women’s wear collections, accessories and Edwin’s seasonal collaborations with friends and like-minded creative types.
The 700-square-foot space on Rochstraße takes a cue from the low-key designs of the three existing Edwin stores, with simple metal racks and fiber boards, yet has an even more minimalist, white-cube style.
It’s only the fourth monobrand store for the company established in Japan in 1947, but Edwin is aiming at expanding its monobrand strategy with other boutiques to be opened in Milan and London’s Covent Garden this year.
“The market getting more and more difficult for multibrand stores, and we believe in monobrand stores,” said Boisselle. “It is also a better way to develop and present our brand. We can show progressive collections and collaborations that would not be seen at stockists this way, so it’s also a

Hermès Opens Wanderland Exhibition

A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE: Hermès is taking a trip — to nowhere in particular — with an exhibition that opens today dedicated to flânerie, or the act of wandering the city streets and drinking in the details of everyday life. Wanderland will run until May 2 at the Saatchi Gallery in London, and move to Paris in September, Turin, Italy, in December and China next year.
Hermès has dedicated 2015 to the theme of flânerie and transformed an upper floor of the gallery into a series of whimsical and surreal settings across 11 rooms. One features vintage walking sticks — including one for the dandy, with a built-in bit of chalk for cleaning the collar and a brush for dusting down the suit — while another is filled with graffiti created by the artist known as Cept, and another with floor panels that “talk” when a visitor walks on them. A café dedicated to lost objects features little tables inset with pocket watches or tiny paint boxes that, on closer inspection, feature film screens the size of postage stamps. A pillbox and glass bottle on one table glow with psychedelic colors while the image of a lady dances at

Valentino Opens New Rome Flagship

ROME — Valentino is as much part of Rome as the Spanish Steps.
It is not surprising, then, that the Italian brand’s biggest flagship globally should be on Piazza di Spagna here, one of the busiest and most famous locations in the world near those very steps, in a 16th-century palazzo and a few yards away from the company’s headquarters in Piazza Mignanelli.
“The boutique has a symbolic value, it’s in the most central square in Rome near our headquarters, and the city has always been a source of inspiration for us,” said Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of the brand with Pierpaolo Piccioli, in a joint interview at their office here. While the store bowed ahead of the Easter weekend, Valentino will mark its official opening with a couture show on July 9, for the occasion to be held in Rome rather than in Paris. Guests are expected to total around 700. “It’s like we are finally inviting everyone to our own home,” Chiuri said.
“This is a very important opening with a strategic relevance after our units in Hong Kong and New York, the two world capitals of consumer spending,” said chief executive officer Stefano Sassi. “Piazza di Spagna has an

Riccardo Tisci’s New Givenchy Men’s Unit Opens

PARIS — Riccardo Tisci can add lead architect to his list of accomplishments at Givenchy.
The brand’s new men’s flagship in the Marais district here, slated to open to the public today, was conceived by the 40-year-old couturier and underscores how far he has propelled the men’s business, which now accounts for half of Givenchy’s revenues.
Not bad, considering Tisci was a complete newbie when he introduced his first men’s collection for spring 2009, igniting trends to athleticism and androgyny that continue to influence the industry — and drive Givenchy.
“We see men’s as a very strategic business,” said Philippe Fortunato, Givenchy’s chairman and chief executive officer, citing dynamic sales not only in established Western markets, where the brand has historic resonance, but emerging ones as well, particularly China and Korea. “The younger generation is spending much more on themselves.”
While he declined to give first-year sales projections for the 5,000-square-foot unit, Fortunato said: “We have high expectations for this store…It’s the achievement of a well-performing men’s business.”
In his first interview since joining Givenchy last September from Louis Vuitton, Fortunato also disclosed Givenchy has signed leases to open boutiques in two key wholesale markets, the U.S. and Italy:
• In New York, a 4,600-square-foot flagship is
