Jeopardy Posed a Question About Dane Cook’s Convicted Half-Brother — See His Shocked Reaction

Dane Cook was forced to relive an embarrassing family incident while watching Jeopardy this week.

The actor and comedian, 46, posted a hilarious response on Twitter after his half-brother, who went to jail for embezzling millions of dollars from Cook, was used as the basis for a question on the popular game show.

“I love Jeopardy, I can just watch it and get away from it all,” Cook jokes at the beginning of the video.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

The clip then cuts to the television show, where the question (or answer, in Jeopardy terms) pops up on screen: “Dane Cook’s half-brother and business manager stole millions from the comic, this crime of misappropriating bank funds.”

A contestant then correctly responds, “What is embezzlement.”

The video ends with Cook staring into the camera, looking crestfallen and betrayed.

In 2010, his half-brother was sentenced to five to six years in prison for embezzling millions of dollars from Cook while working as his business manager, PEOPLE reported at the time.

RELATED: Dane Cook, 45, Dating a 19-Year-Old Singer Kelsi Taylor

Darryl McCauley, 45, pleaded guilty to 27 counts of larceny over $ 250, three counts of forgery, embezzlement and other charges, the Boston Globe reported. At one point, McCauley wrote out a check for $ 3 million to himself from Cook’s account.

McCauley served as Cook’s business manager from the early 1990s until December 2008. He began siphoning Cook’s funds into his personal accounts beginning in 2004.

The former corrections officer was sentenced to another 10 years of probation after his release from jail. He was also ordered to make restitution to Cook.

McCauley and Cook had the same mother, Donna Cook, who died in 2006.

Adidas Disbands Digital Sports Business Unit, Leaving 74 Staff Jobs in Question

ADIDAS REALIGNS: Adidas has discontinued its Digital Sports business unit, calling into question 74 staff jobs.
The business unit was the driving force behind the development of wearable technology, consisting of technology experts in the fields of data science, experience design, algorithm development and software and hardware engineering. Adidas first ventured into the wearable area in 2001 with the launch of sensor-enabled footwear.
Asked about the layoffs, an Adidas spokeswoman said, “I don’t know that ‘layoff’ is the right word.” The 74 staffers worked out of a few Adidas offices including Portland, Ore.; Germany; China, and other parts of the U.S. Conversations will be held with each of them about “hopefully finding them other places in the organization,” an Adidas spokeswoman said.
The redefined strategy is in line with Adidas chief executive officer Kasper Bo Rorsted’s plans for more digital experiences. The realignment will entail the company consolidating some of its apps to focus on its two most powerful platforms Runtastic and its relaunched Adidas app. The latter is an AI-enabled shopping app that is meant to offer a more personalized consumer experience that was introduced last month at Dreamforce.
Adidas acquired the Austrian app maker Runtastic for a reported $ 240 million n August

Devin Nunes Can’t Resist Answering One More Question

The Washington press corps works itself into a jabbering frenzy whenever a prominent official says the dreaded words “Last question.” But when it comes to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), members of the press have nothing to worry about.

Seeing as he’s made bombshell revelations in recent days, Nunes can’t bring himself to walk away from reporters’ questions just now.

On Wednesday, Nunes, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, paid an unusual visit to the White House to inform President Donald Trump that members of his team had been mentioned in U.S. intelligence reports during the last days of the Obama administration. Nunes then held a stunning press conference on the matter, which gave Trump political cover for his unproven claim that former President Barack Obama had “wiretapped” him.

After making statements that all but upended a congressional inquiry into the Trump team’s potential ties to Russia, Nunes said he would take a few questions from members of the press. As the video above makes clear, the California Republican just couldn’t pull himself away from the microphones. “One more” quickly became five more.

At one point Nunes even swore, apologetically, that he had get over to Capitol Hill. Then he answered a bunch more questions.

Earlier that day, in a separate encounter with the press, the congressman was just as accommodating. Buttonholed by a gaggle of reporters at the Capitol, Nunes announced that he really had to get going ― “I’ve gotta run to a vote,” he pleaded ― just before answering another three questions.

And he wasn’t done there.

“All right, guys, I gotta get ―” he stammered, cut off by another question that he dutifully answered.

Still, at a moment when some Washington officials are rarely giving pressers at all ― or only granting access to handpicked, ideologically friendly media ― there’s something refreshing about Nunes’ willingness to let the press conference stretch on indefinitely, whatever his motivations.

Woman In A Wheelchair Gives Powerful Response To A Rude Question About Her Sex Life

“I get a lot of questions from strangers who think that because my wheelchair puts me at a lower height, the walls surrounding my personal life must be lower too.”

So begins Kelsey Warren’s riveting spoken word poem called “My Body.” As a disabled woman, Warren discusses the rude stares and even ruder questions she constantly receives. Although she says these run-of-the-mill intrusions don’t bother her any longer, she points out one question she recently received that really got under her skin:

“So do you like let your partner have a side relationship so they can have normal sex every once in awhile?”

“Honey,” she replies to the question in her performance. “If they’re with me, they’re not looking for normal and I don’t mean because I’m crippled.”

Warren goes on to explain that her sex is exciting and comfortable and sensual — really anything but “normal” and that’s why it’s so good. “Sex with me is never normal,” she tells the crowd. “Cripple copulation may be slightly more complicated, but it is always climactic. Not once has someone that I had sex wit said my sex was less than.”

She proudly proclaims her body is beautiful. “This body wasn’t made to meet your definition of desirable,” Warren says. “This body doesn’t exist to be taken or left. This body is broken but it is beautiful.”

With her powerful delivery, Warren nears the end of the poem with a truth all women can heed: “My body will not be denied its worth. My body will keep the job of being my body, perfectly.”

This Is What Happens To Your Heart Rate When You Pop The Question

There are certain moments in life that could make anyone’s heart race. Proposing to a significant other is one of those moments.

On Monday, GOOD Magazine posted a data visualization to YouTube that shows how one man’s heart rate increased and decreased before, during and after he popped the question to his girlfriend in Rome. The proposer, Redditor sesipikai, was wearing a heart rate monitor belt at the time, which measured the beats per minute. Afterwards, he created this nifty graph and posted it to Reddit in December 2014.

The GOOD team later condensed the 40-minute time span into a 90-second video, showing all of the ups and downs as the man walked around the Colosseum with his girlfriend, got ice cream, waited for the right moment and practiced what he was going to say in his head. As you might expect, his heart rate peaked when he finally said those magical words out loud.

Afterwards, his heart rate slowed down when she said “yes” (woo hoo!) and slowed even more when the pair found a bench to rest on so they could revel in the post-proposal glow. Watch the video above.

The Question No One Asks My Husband

2015-05-29-1432863815-4001637-marriagelastnamequestion.jpg

My husband and I celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary back in March.

In the 14+ months of our marriage, there is one question that I have received countless times. One question that no one bothers asking my husband.

Why didn’t you change your name?

Why didn’t you want to take your wife’s last name?

How does your wife feel about your decision to keep your last name?

No one has thought to ask my husband about his decision to keep his last name when we got married.

Not a single person has asked him any of those questions above. But strangers are quick to ask him why I kept my last name!

Yes, strangers.

Not intimate friends or immediately family members. Strangers.

Strangers feel entitled to know why I made a choice that doesn’t affect them in the slightest.

I know what some of you are thinking…

Um, Brita? Didn’t you start the conversation with your satire? Don’t you always ask for comments and questions?

Surprisingly, not that many people responded to my satire by asking me why I kept my last name. If anyone did, that didn’t bother me, because it was relevant to the post.

But people have been asking me this question long before I had my 15 minutes of fame, and they still ask me, even without having read my satire. Like I said, even strangers feel comfortable asking my husband why I didn’t take his last name.

For the record, misogyny and sexism are not the same thing. You can have the best of intentions and be the nicest person in the world and still be sexist.

Asking me why I didn’t change my last name is sexist.

Period.

You are asking me a question that you would never ask my husband. That’s practically the textbook-definition of sexism.

But that’s not the only reason why asking me about my last name is sexist.

There is an awful lot of entitlement in asking an individual to explain a personal choice that does not affect you. This entitlement pops up a lot when a person with privilege demands an explanation from a person without privilege.

Frequently, the problem isn’t so much the question itself (but it’s still sexist), but how the question is asked. Rarely is it a standalone question. Usually it is followed by one of the following:

  • Do you not love your husband?
  • Are you planning a future divorce?
  • Why did you even get married if you didn’t want to change your name?

These questions just drip with condescension.

Apparently my personal and individual choice to ignore a tradition steeped in patriarchy could possibly tear apart the social fabric holding America together. Or something.

I do feel like feminism has made some progress here. Like my friend Kelly pointed out in her own post on the subject, the fact that people ask her if she’s changing her name or not is a win for feminism… Even if they’re not asking her fiancé the same question.

Until we take a few more steps forward, I’ll keep innocently explaining that my husband didn’t feel like taking my last name. It’s amazing how people react when I say that!

But hey, if you’re still dying to know why I kept my last name, I’ll give you a hint as to one of the many reasons.

Google “galaxy Brita Long,” and yes, you’ll need those quotation marks in the search bar.

Would you give that up, just for the sake of “tradition”?

Answers to Every Question You’ve Ever Had About Buying and Selling Fashion on eBay

When it comes to scoring amazing deals on designer pieces or tracking down something specific you love (like that pair of heels you loved two years ago, but never actually made the move to buy), there’s nothing better than eBay. Even so, the amount of shoppers who are skeptical, confused, or downright scared of it is way too high, a big bummer since the fashion is major on the site.

“It’s grown to a $ 15 billion-a-year business,” Marcelle Parrish, head of fashion at eBay Marketplaces, told us, with shoes and bags proving to be especially popular (a pair of shoes sells every two seconds and a purse every five; on mobile, the numbers are seven and 11 seconds, respectively.) Within the North American market, there’s an average of 34 million listings per week across all fashion categories; the most popular women’s brands are Coach, Diane von Furstenberg, Missoni, and Valentino.

laptop-cup-of-coffee

For newbies nervous about winding up with a counterfeit, hear this: You have no reason to freak out. “Nothing is more important than the trust of our customers. When you buy or sell, we have your back,” eBay’s vice president of Global Trust, Laura Chambers, said. The site’s Money Back Guarantee is a well-seasoned system where shoppers register a complaint and eBay assists in a negotiation of sorts. The majority of sellers will do a return and refund, even if the option was marked as not available on the original listing, and if things get cantankerous, eBay steps in. Bottom line: You’ll never be stuck with the world’s worst fake and be out a few hundred bucks.

Tips and Tricks for Buying on eBay

1. Search Smartly
Start with the obvious keywords, and take advantage of filters available on the left-hand side of the page to wade through a large amount of matching listings. Griff Griffith, part of the community and education team at eBay, suggested further customizing the results you see by re-sorting by price once you have the general search right.

2. Pay Attention to the Little Clues
As diligent as the site tries to be, there are fakes posted. The easiest way to avoid buying something fake is to pay attention to any red flags. Is the price way too good to be true? Are pictures scant or badly out-of-focus? Is something just a little off, whether hardware wrapped in plastic or a logo that just doesn’t seem right? If you feel iffy about it, listen to your gut. Also to check: For shoes, is there a full range of sizes listed? If a seller in China has every single size of Isabel Marant ankle boots available, something’s fishy.

3. Check Out the Seller
EBay’s format includes feedback that gives you a snapshot of who you’re buying from. A brand-new account with no reviews or previous sales but a crazy cache of Chanel bags listed? It could be legit…or not. Click through to see the other items a seller has for sale for a good feel if you’re browsing the wares of a thirtysomething fashion fiend who’s cleaning out her closet or someone with a single fashion item that looks glaringly out of place alongside nonrelated items like tech gadgets or game consoles.

4. Do Your Homework
Before shopping a designer bag, some due diligence is in order. Know different brands’ hallmarks of authenticity (we covered Chanel, Balenciaga, Celine, and more); eBay has a robust section dedicated to educating shoppers too.

5. Now, Actually Start Bidding
Decide your top price before things get going to avoid being swept up in the excitement. You can enter your max bid off the bat, and eBay will automatically increase your offer as other shoppers join in. If you’re more into watching the shopping action as it unfolds, download the app and get your clicking finger ready (a lot of bids come in during the last five or 10 minutes of an auction). If you win, pay promptly.

Tips and Tricks for Selling on eBay

1.Write a Lengthy Description and Use Lots of Details
Imagine what you’d want as a shopper and give your prospective buyers that. The more information the better, as it’ll instill confidence in you and answer any questions they might think of. EBay has fields for all sort of characteristics, including specific measurements and materials; take advantage of those areas and answer.

2. Your Item Title Should Be Keyword-Rich
Shoppers are typically super specific, so beefing up your headline will help to get more potential buyers. Use the brand name (and make sure it’s spelled correctly), but also include the size, material, color, and a style name if relevant.

3. Take Good Pictures (and Lots of Them)
Pictures can make a huge difference whether your item sells, so add as many as you can to your listing. Take the general shot, but also zoom in on hardware, embellishments, and any tears, scratches, or discolored areas. Consider angles that will also reveal something additional about whatever you’re selling, whether it’s hanging it from a doorknob or adding a common item in for size relevance (think a dollar bill, a water bottle, etc).

4. Start Your Listing on These Days
Per eBay, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the best days to post items. (We’ve already heard that Tuesday is also the best day to shop online).

5. Be Realistic About Pricing
Setting your item at a too-high price is a sure way to never sell it. Consider how much you paid for it and what similar items are being sold for. Certain designer items will hold their value really well (a lot of designer handbags, jewelry), while other pieces decrease drastically as soon as you remove the tags.

6. Consider Offering Free Shipping
Plenty of serious sellers we’ve chatted with have encouraged offering the incentive. “Shipping items fast and free is one of the keys to being a successful seller on eBay,” Linda Lightman, CEO of top eBay shop Linda’s Stuff offered as a suggestion. When you purchase and print potage through eBay’s portal, you’ll also save on the prices the local post office would charge you (you can simply tape the label to your package).

These are women-of-a-certain-age, and they number close to 50 million in Canada and the United States alone. Reading Menopause

It’s a subject so taboo that many patients would rather silently suffer immense pain than ask their doctors about it. The Question That Never Goes Away

The Question That Never Goes Away

Some days, the news seems too much to bear. Yet another tsunami or earthquake or flood or fire or war atrocity. One more gun-toting madman stalking young people in idyllic Norway or moviegoers in Colorado or schoolchildren in Newtown, Connecticut. We turn off the news only to get a phone call about expectant parents with a stillborn baby, or a loved one whose cancer has returned. Really, God? we ask. This again? If we have faith in God, it gets shaken to the core. What was God doing in the moment when that tragedy could have been prevented? If we can’t trust God to keep our children safe or our loved ones from dying in agony, what can we trust God for? It is the question that never goes away. The Question is highlighted in Newtown, Connecticut, where at the scene of the elementary school murders an ambulance driver said, ‘All of us on the fire and ambulance corps are volunteers. I’ve seen some awful things, but we don’t train for something like this—nobody does.’ The Question raises its head again in Japan where a giant tsunami raced at a speed of 500 miles per hour toward shore and in the crushing force of its wave buckled roads, cracked bridges, and collapsed buildings. And 16,000 people died. But in a miraculous turn, an eighty-year-old grandmother and her teenage son were saved after nine days. In one more part of the world Yancey looks at the Question in the former Yugoslavia, in the city of Sarajevo, where a bloody civil war erupted and snipers shot and killed 11,000 countrymen, some women and children. One woman commented, ‘Winters were the worst. Without electricity we had no heat. I had a newborn baby, born in the midst of that hell. We chopped heirloom furniture with an axe.’ But then part of an answer came to the question. ‘On Christmas a neighbor brought me a priceless gift, a root system of a tree. He was a Muslim, didn’t even celebrate Christmas, yet he sacrificed to keep us warm.’ In his classic book Where Is God When It Hurts, Philip Yancey gave us
