Jeffrey Dean Morgan is Returning to Supernatural

The moment fans have been dreaming of for more than a decade has finally arrived – Jeffrey Dean Morgan is officially returning to Supernatural for its milestone 300th episode, reprising his role as John Winchester – father of lead characters Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles).

Executive producer Andrew Dabb said, “We’re incredibly excited to have Jeffrey back for this milestone episode, and think fans will love what we have planned for his character… and a few other surprise guest stars.”

Morgan has long expressed his interest in returning to Supernatural as Papa Winchester – one of his earliest breakout TV roles in 2005, alongside a recurring stint on Grey’s Anatomy – but scheduling has always seemed to prevent a reprise. Morgan has kept himself busy with small-screen roles in Starz’s Magic City, CBS’s Extant and The Good Wife, and most recently AMC’s The Walking Dead, where he’s played bat-wielding villain Negan for the past three seasons, along with movie roles in genre fare like Watchmen, The Losers, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Rampage.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Returning to New York

After a two-year trip abroad — to Paris and then Shanghai — the extravaganza and hype machine that is the Victoria’s Secret fashion show is returning to New York.
In a series of posts to Instagram Monday, the brand touted: “Start spreading the news…the #VSFashionShow is back in New York City!” The posts pictured the brand’s “angels” toting their wings about town, hailing a cab, emerging from the subway and passing through Grand Central Terminal.
Together the three posts racked up 1,400 comments in just a few hours — illustrating the reach of the event, which is preparing for its 23rd outing.
For the 2016 production in Paris, the brand imported 70 tons of equipment, 18 miles of cable and 51 of the world’s top models.
Last year, the show ran into other complications in Shanghai, when visas were denied to Katy Perry, reportedly after her perceived support for Taiwan, and Gigi Hadid and others.
Having the show in New York should avoid those kinds of difficulties, but the big question for the business is whether the show can help bring some vigor back to the brand, which has been casting about for direction and looking to reverse a trend of sales declines in its stores.

Patrick Stewart Returning as Captain Picard Is the Best Thing to Happen to Star Trek in Decades

When the news came this weekend that Patrick Stewart will indeed be reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard in a new Star Trek series for CBS All Access, the internet went crazy with PatStew love. The reaction to the announcement was overwhelmingly positive, and it showed just how important Star Trek: The Next Generation is not just to Trekkies but also to more mainstream audiences. And indeed, the reveal that Jean-Lu is returning is certainly one of the best things to happen to Star Trek in — dare I say it? — decades. Though, all the same, it’s also one of the riskiest moves the franchise has taken in some time.

Paralyzed Diver Celebrates Birthday by Returning to the Water — with His Adorable Daughter Cheering On

Cliff Devries was once a nationally-ranked driver who dreamed of going to the Olympics. But in his early 20s, Devries faced cancer and a life-saving surgery that left the right side of his body paralyzed —bringing his athletic aspirations to a halt.

Now a diving coach at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, Devries celebrates his birthday each year by diving into a pool, according to Deseret News. This year, for his 44th birthday, Devries took to the school’s Judson Pool — and the inspirational moment was caught on video.

Need a little inspiration? Click here to subscribe to the Daily Smile Newsletter for uplifting, feel-good stories that brighten up your inbox.

“I’ve never really seen it as an inspirational thing. It’s just a lot of fun for me to get up on the board and be back in the water,” Devries told the publication. “The fact that it has blown up to be a large thing where a lot of people can say this is something that is good and helped them, that’s just an extra bonus for me.”

Video footage of the dive shows Devries walking to the edge of the diving board, as his 5-year-old daughter, Grace, watches from the side of the pool. After a small tumble backward, Devries completes the dive and little Grace is shown on the sidelines jumping up and down and clapping for her father.

“I wanted one more inch, so as I dove my feet wouldn’t scrape the board,” Devries told the Democrat & Chronicle. “That’s when my leg locked up and I fell back onto Corey. I was pretty scared there for a moment. A whole bunch of scenarios were going through my head.”

Still, he completed the dive with no issues. And Facebook video footage of the display has been viewed more than 50 million times.

“It’s been an amazing few days,” he told the Chronicle. “I’m just happy that everybody is seeing something that they can take from it and that it has been a positive video for everybody.”

In 1995, shortly after returning from a mission trip, Devries had surgery to remove a massive tumor near his brain stem. He has been partially paralyzed ever since.

Groom-to-Be Who Was Paralyzed at His Bachelor Party Ties the Knot 9 Months Later: ‘We’re in This Together’

“The people around me see me as normal,” Devries told the Chronicle. “I walk through the deck and nobody’s staring at me. Nobody thinks it’s special. It’s just Cliff going up on the board doing his annual dive.”

He added: “I’d love to do a back dive one of these years. But I’m just not that ambitious.”

Alabama Chanin Returning to Wholesale, Relaunching E-commerce This Fall

American made has been the bedrock of Natalie Chanin’s designs throughout her 17 years in business, and now the Alabama Chanin founder hopes her return to wholesaling will help to bolster her home state’s workforce. The fall launch will coincide with the brand’s new web site.
The designer still relies on local artisans in and around Florence, Ala., to create her hand-sewn designs — just as she did with her first company Project Alabama, which she left in 2006. At that time the birth of her daughter “just changed everything,” so she regrouped, left New York and returned to her home state of Alabama to launch Alabama Chanin.
With the capacity to scale up and its new machine-made collection, Alabama Chanin is returning to wholesale and aims to have 10 to 12 retailers this fall. In September, the company will introduce wovens and a full range of ribbed core pieces that are sewn locally. With a supply chain that is seed-to-shelf, the label’s cotton is sourced from Texas, processed in North Carolina and cut-and-sewn in Alabama. “It’s taken a long time to get there so we’re really proud of it,” Chanin said.
The company has always focused on Made in America and sustainability,

Jennifer Lopez Is Returning To TV As A Cop On ‘Shades Of Blue’

Watch out Sgt. Olivia Benson, Jenny from the block is joining the police force. Jennifer Lopez revealed the promo for NBC’s new cop drama, “Shades of Blue” on Twitter this week.

Aside from her judging gig on “American Idol” and brief cameos on “How I Met Your Mother” and “Will & Grace,” Lopez hasn’t appeared on a TV series since CBS’s “Hotel Malibu,” which ran for one season in 1994. On “Shades of Blue,” the actress and singer will star as Det. Harlee Santos, a single mother who’s love for her daughter keeps her grounded on the job. Donning a police uniform alongside Lopez are Ray Liotta as Lt. Bill Wozniak and Drea De Matteo as Tess Nazario, a cop and mother of three.

The 13-episode series follows the detectives who keep their city safe, but are also corrupt. Lopez is producing alongside Ryan Seacrest, among others, while Barry Levinson is directing. Check out the promo in which Lopez and the cast talk about the shades of grey (and blue, duh) between right and wrong when it comes to crime. “Shades of Blue” does not yet have a premiere date.

Kim Richards Reportedly Not Returning To ‘Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills’

E! News reports that Kim Richards will not return to “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for the show’s sixth season.

Sources connected to the reality show tell the website that while it’s possible she may come back for a cameo, or a few appearances, she won’t be a full-time cast member.

Request for comment made to Richards’ rep and Bravo have yet to be returned at this time.

The 50-year-old, who has been a cast member on the reality series since it first premiered in 2010, returned to rehab on Tuesday after briefly leaving a treatment facility to attend her daughter’s wedding in Mexico.

Richards was arrested in April and later charged with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer. She checked into rehab less than two weeks later.

Recaps of Some of Your Favorite Returning Fall TV Shows. In Gifs.

Aside from being a little bit closer to the good kind of Daylight Savings, the biggest silver lining to the downfall of summer is the knowledge that fall TV is finally on the horizon, bringing some trusty old friends back into our lives once again. But the summer has been long and hot and has left us a little foggy on what went down during spring finales oh-so-long ago. So, we boiled previous seasons of some of our favorite returning fall shows down into bullet points, and jazzed those bullet points up with the magic of gifs.

Soldier from the War Returning

Soldier from the War Returning

One of our most enduring national myths surrounds the men and women who fought in the so-called “Good War.” The Greatest Generation, we’re told by Tom Brokaw and others, fought heroically, then returned to America happy, healthy and well-adjusted. They quickly and cheerfully went on with the business of rebuilding their lives. In this shocking and hauntingly beautiful book, historian Thomas Childers shatters that myth. He interweaves the intimate story of three families-including his own-with a decades’ worth of research to paint an entirely new picture of the war’s aftermath. Drawing on government documents, interviews, oral histories and diaries, he reveals that 10,000 veterans a month were being diagnosed with psycho-neurotic disorder (now known as PTSD). Alcoholism, homelessness, and unemployment were rampant, leading to a skyrocketing divorce rate. Many veterans bounced back, but their struggle has been lost in a wave of nostalgia that threatens to undermine a new generation of returning soldiers.Novelistic in its telling and impeccably researched, Childers’s book is a stark reminder that the price of war is unimaginably high. The consequences are human, not just political, and the toll can stretch across generations.
