Christmas in Sizzling Shorts! Beyoncé Rocks Two Denim Looks in Latest Instagram Photo Shoots

Thursday marked the first official day of winter, but seasons don’t mean a thing when you’re Beyoncé.

The songstress continued her incredible string of post-pregnancy style moments in her latest Instagram posts, donning two looks centered around denim shorts that flaunted her toned legs.

Saturday’s look featured a white long-sleeved t-shirt under a yellow jacket with red lining that Beyoncé let hang off her shoulders as she posed beside a pool in a tropical detination. She glammed up the ensemble with a light blue Louis Vuitton bag, sunglasses and hoop earrings. For footwear, the singer paired red open-toed heels with pink socks.

One photo featured a close-up of Beyoncé’s hands, with the star rocking accessories on both her ring and middle fingers. The shot also displayed her altered wedding tattoo — Beyoncé and Jay-Z got Roman numeral IVs inked on their ring fingers after they got married, but some fans noticed the ink fading in 2014 before reappearing with additional lines. The slightly obscured art makes the original IV look a little more like a numeral 4 or a capital J.

The mom of three was back at it again on Sunday, sharing another round of photos in a new outfit. This time, the denim shorts were accompanied by a t-shirt and black jacket with embellishments slung over her shoulders.

Beyoncé wore her hair — perhaps her natural locks — in a high ponytail and layered up on necklaces. She further accessorized with red heels and a pair of round shades.

JAY-Z even made an appearance in one shot of the couple walking down a hallway with their backs to the camera.

Are you digging Beyoncé’s summer-meets-winter outfits for the holiday weekend? Let us know in the comments.

Tone-Deaf Jewelry Ad Tells Customers To ‘Throw Rocks At Girls’

A jewelry store in Asheville, North Carolina has apologized for its tone-deaf billboard ad that caused outrage on the internet.

The billboard in question comes from Spicer Greene Jewelers and is currently located near Interstate 240. It reads: “Sometimes, It’s ok to throw rocks at girls…,” surrounded by photos of brightly colored jewels, aka “rocks.”

The company issued an apology on Facebook Thursday after the ad sparked a negative reaction on Twitter and in the media

Eva-Michelle Spicer, the co-owner of Spicer Greene Jewelers, told The Huffington Post via email that the billboard will come down as soon as they can replace it with their next campaign (which is usually around every four weeks, according to Asheville paper, The Citizen Times ). When HuffPost asked who came up with the statement, Spicer said, “It’s a common phrase in the jewelry industry. We did not invent it.”

The majority of responses to Spicer Greene’s Facebook apology implied they many thought the ad was funny and that critics of it were being too sensitive.

“BRILLIANT AD…No apology required,” one commenter wrote, while another added, “These people are idiots and will probably never have any shiny rocks thrown at them! The billboard is funny! Get a sense of humor, life will be much better!”

One woman complained about the “snowflakes that whine over everything,” and told the company, “I hope you make a 500% increase in sales.”

Many of the Twitter responses to the company’s apologies also maintained the billboard was “hilarious:”

Others, like Chelsea Clinton, found the ad incredibly offensive and pointed out that joking about violence against women is “never funny.” Especially in a world where women are still stoned to death

“The billboard was intent to be a nostalgic thought of a childhood teaching,” Spicer told ABC News 13 WLOS. “That it’s not ok to throw rocks at girls, it’s not ok to throw rocks at anyone… It saddens me that it was taken that way, because it certainly wasn’t intended.”

Organic Cotton on the other hand is grown in certified pesticide-free and herbicide-free soil using organic farming methods, covered in the Global Organic Textiles Standard. The Lost Art of Skipping Rocks

We stood at the edge of the water. The girls crouched down in the sand. They were looking for the perfect rock. My 5-year-old knew exactly what she had in mind. She was scouring the ground for the biggest, flattest rock possible. The 2-year-old’s criteria involved digging up any item that looked remotely like a rock and then she would hold it up triumphantly once she found it.

2015-05-27-1432686572-8637334-IMG_1193.jpg

With rocks in hand, we tossed them into the water. It seemed I had forgotten how to do this simple activity. My first few rocks landed with a loud splash. However, after several tries, I began to see my rocks gently skim the top of the water. I would select another rock and throw it, counting each time it skipped and bounced. Then, my competitive side came out as I tried to skip the rocks farther than my husband. This activity seemed natural for him. It’s as if he knew exactly which rock to pick, how to grip it perfectly and toss it with one graceful, yet swift, movement.

The girls participated too, throwing their rocks with a splash, plop or plunk. It was a peaceful moment for our little family. The birds chattered away in some trees nearby, waves gently hit against the dock and there was the soft hum of motor boats in the distance.

2015-05-27-1432686671-7846995-IMG_1194.jpg

As we stood there, it occurred to me how much we’ve lost to the hectic pace of a technologically advanced society. The art of skipping rocks, an intense game of marbles, hopscotch, kick the can and flying kites are just a few of my fondest childhood memories. Then there’s capture the flag, four square, cat’s cradle, pick-up-sticks and jacks. I also recall the simple fun of sledding, making snow angels, weaving crowns out of dandelions and whistling with quack grass.

I have vivid memories of childhood play… free, wild, and imaginative play. I remember when I was a little girl, the neighborhood children would gather and spend a significant amount of time establishing rules for our games. Sometimes it seemed that the actual time to play the games paled in comparison to the amount of time it took to plan for the game.

I also recall home base and I’m certain every neighborhood had one. Our home base was a small grey power box. Sometimes we would forget that we were playing a game and we would sit around the power box talking about the Flintstones or reading Archie comics. The street lights coming on was a cue that our freedom outside was coming to an end. We would squeeze in as much play time as we could before our moms or dads called us in for the evening.

2015-05-27-1432686757-5770691-IMG_1195.jpg

My mind came back to the present. My youngest daughter was holding a large rock overhead and she plopped it into the water, almost falling in after it. As I stood there skipping rocks with my family, I realized that unless I do these things with my children, generations of childhood games could be lost. The art of skipping rocks could lose out against a game on a console.

I’m not going to let that happen. What about you?

A funny, bittersweet, yet heartwarming novel about friendship, family, and finding love in the Facebook age-not to mention the perils, pitfalls, and dubious pleasures of life as a modern young single woman-from Erin Duffy, the author of the acclaimed Bond GirlEver since she was a little girl, Abby Wilkes dreamed of her wedding, the day when she’d wear a pretty white dress and look like a princess. But that was before her life fell apart for the entire world to see. Her longtime boyfriend-turned-fiance;, Ben, unceremoniously dumped her-changing his status to single on Facebook-while she was trying on the most gorgeous Vera Wang dress for the big day. Truth to tell, dating has never been easy. But now that the rules have changed and the boundaries are blurred beyond recognition, will they ever find true love? And if they do, how can romance stand a chance when a girl’s every word and move can go viral with a single click? Another Chance At Love: Why My Second Marriage Totally Rocks

Your divorce diploma is still fresh.

The anger and bitterness rip through you like a terrible case of food poising.

The last thing on your mind is getting married again.

A few years go by. You start to date. Maybe you’re serious about someone. And maybe you’re a little gun shy about tying the knot again. I get it. I’ve been there, too.

After the implosion of my first marriage, which I thought would last forever, I never in a million years imagined that I would ever get married again. If my 19 year marriage could end in massive failure, what chance did a second marriage have? Three years after my divorce I was perfectly happy being the yoga teaching, empty-nested, crazy dog lady.

Just as I was making plans to sell my house and move, I received an email from someone I hadn’t heard from or seen in 25 years. He wrote that it had been a long time and that he’d love to see me. My first boyfriend from high school, a blast from my past… of course I wrote back and gave him my phone number.

He called the next night and we met for coffee at 9 PM. We stayed up all night, traveling back and forth through time, remembering who broke up with whom. I fell crazy upside down in love all over again. He proposed two months later and we were married three months after that.

Nearly nine years ago we joined our families together, his four kids, my two kids (and my two dogs), and we embraced the extended families that accompany second marriages.

We came together not has broken halves looking for our other half but as two complete and whole people. Our marriage is stronger than either of our first marriages because we respect each other and see each other as individuals.

That night in the coffee shop nine years ago, my husband said to me, “you are the same bold and brazen girl I knew in high school.” In that moment I knew I never had to be anyone other than me with him.

There is truth and authenticity in my second marriage which was never in my first marriage. My husband and I can be raw and real and vulnerable without the fear that our marriage is in danger or that our vulnerability will be used against us when we least expect it.

A few nights ago we opened up a bottle of wine. It’s so easy to fall into conversation with my husband and talk about this and that. I watched as he poured me a glass of red warmth. A Merlot with a hint of smoke. We listened to Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.

“Did we ever go to a school dance together?” he asked. Maybe we did. I don’t remember. Neither does he. He took my hand and led me around in a slow circle.

I remembered making out in the hallway in high school, my back up against the lockers, his body pressed hard into mine. My psychology teacher interrupted us and pulled me into his class room, admonishing me, “young ladies don’t behave this way in public.”

I remembered when I was 16 and my husband was 17. Damn… he could make my toes curl. At 51, he still can.

Sometimes love has a way of sneaking in through the back door when you’re busy making other plans. If you’re still on the fence about giving marriage another shot, take your time and trust your gut.

I had no desire to get married again and then BAM, there I was in the middle of a park with over 100 people watching me say “I do” to the man who once was the boy I first fell in love with.

Katy Perry Rocks A Matching Crop Top And Skirt On The Red Carpet

Katy Perry took the crop top trend to the red carpet when she stepped out Tuesday night for the 2014 Australian Record Industry Association Awards in Sydney.

Perry’s two-piece ensemble, created by Australian designer Jaime Lee, featured a belly-baring halter top and a long, see-through pencil skirt adorned with sequined flowers. She paired the outfit with purple pumps and a head wrap.

While presenting the award for Best Female Artist, Perry gave a speech about her love for all things Australia; her Prismatic World Tour kicked off Down Under Nov. 7.

“No longer will I use straws in my chocolate milk. I’ll use Tim Tams!” she said, per the Guardian. “No longer will I put butter on bread, I’ll use Vegemite. No longer will I eat chicken, I’ll eat kangaroo. Actually that’s disgusting. Why do guys you eat something that’s on your national emblem?”

Stay-At-Home Dad’s Photos Prove Parenthood Totally Rocks

Some may think daily parenting tasks like making baby food, changing diapers and reading baby books are mundane, but actually they can totally rock.

Just ask photographer and stay-at-home dad Brian Reda, who posted a photo of him and his son at the zoo to Reddit. In the photo, his son stands looking through a glass partition at a bear as Reda’s hand can be seen in the corner giving the sign of the horns.

dad life zoo

After he received some backlash over the “metal hand” zoo photo, Reda decided to share the bigger picture of how he has documented life with his 9-month-old son, Livingston.

“The photos prior to my first ‘Dad Life’ image were cute and served the purpose of capturing him in all his infant glory,” he explained in an email to The Huffington Post. “The self-referential hand gesture, though, makes me part of the story. I know that sounds selfish, especially in our selfie-crazed culture, but the series is about our relationship. It’s about us. It’s about being father and son. We’re a little team. When he glances at the camera he’s connecting with Dad and the audience vicariously experiences our relationship.”

And those experiences are awesome.

“I began noticing that the mundane moments are often the best ones,” Reda said. “That’s where life exists. We always want to photograph the most exciting moments but often forget what life may have been like on a day-to-day basis. I’m just waiting for that perfect moment when he puts up the metal hand.”

Reda also gave a shout-out to the person who helped make “Dad Life” possible.

“There’s nothing more metal than dad life,” he said. “Well, I suppose the most metal award goes to my beautiful wife, Angela, who carried him, birthed him, nurses him, and now supports us.”

Carlos Santana rocks New Orleans Jazz Fest Day 1

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival day one wrapped with a combination of die-hard Carlos Santana fans one of which is festival Executive Producer Quint Davis who ended up playing maracas with the band; and The Avett Brother whose fans cleared a path as Seth Avett jumped from the stage to the crowd and jammed while strolling, in an interesting Mosesish maneuver.

Ticket prices are up to $ 70 at the gate this year, and some press coverage asked in advance how the crowds would bear up with the cost. They apparently bore up just fine. The first-day crowd that felt more like a Sunday to this local. The sandy racetrack was lined with kids making sandcastles, as always. Food lines snaked further out to the track as patrons lined up for their favorite seafood combo, as always. And THAT GUY, the one with hair that’s business in the front and party in the back as he rocks his unbuttoned vintage red bean Bayou Wear shirt and boogies through the artist entrance was there, as always.

I’ve been thinking of what it is that draw the crowds back to the festival year after year. The writer I was standing next to at the scorchingly wonderful Reubén Blades set has been coming to Jazz Fest for all its 45 years. There she was, stage-side, waving at Quint as he introduced the band. As always. And that’s what brings the crowds back. There’s not a lot of As Always to depend on these days.

Yes, there are more Coachella-styled teens with flower wreath headbands spinning along the track. Hippies may eventually give way to hipsters and it’s going to be fascinating to see where they go with Jazz Fest as it strides through middle age. But the music will still be there, no matter what turn the granddaddy of music festivals takes.

As always.
