Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s spring collection, the third for his label, was called “Summertime Sadness,” meant to evoke a teen’s melancholy upon leaving a beautiful holiday with an unrequited crush.
The sensual, tight lineup of well-crafted androgynous silhouettes was made of fabrics the designer sourced in Japan. Highlights included a cropped light blue denim jacket with matching low-slung lace-up jeans, a coral-color fluid blouse and trousers, and a black strapless top with languid pants.
De Saint Sernin riffed on his best-selling eyelet briefs for a bralette, and accessorized the line with ceramic charms.
“Most of the collection sells to women,” said the designer, who was a finalist for this year’s LVMH Prize. “I was very niche, this young designer starting out in Paris. And it just put a light on me that was very amazing. I’m super grateful.”
There’s little doubt that the spotlight will keep intensifying.

Family Time! Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Explore Wyoming with Kids North & Saint

Family first!

Hours after getting embroiled in a new Twitter feud, which began when one of her husband Kanye West’s former collaborators accused him of abandoning his hometown of Chicago, Kim Kardashian West proved she’s putting the negativity behind her.

While enjoying some quality time with her family, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star documented a recent nature-filled walk she shared with her husband and their two eldest children — daughter North, 4½, and Saint, 2. The couple are also parents to 4-month-old daughter Chicago.

In the sweet snapshot, West appears to give his son a guiding hand as the family traverses together in front of a background of picturesque mountains in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where West is currently working on new music.

“Wyoming,” the mother of three fittingly captioned the image.

Days earlier, the KKW Beauty mogul enjoyed some snuggle time with her “bestie” North and her husband.

Capturing the precious moment, the proud mom and her daughter posed for the camera while North rested in her father’s arms.

In between the sweet family moments, Kardashian West came to her husband’s defense after one of West’s former collaborators, rapper and songwriter Rhymefest, responded to a diss track Drake released on Friday, which contained some harsh words directed at West and fellow rapper Pusha T.

After Rhymefest wrote that he was asking Drake to contact Donda’s House — a non-profit organization providing arts education to Chicago youths, which was named for West’s late mother — to help “the part of Chicago Kanye has abandoned,” the KUWTK clapped back, accusing Rhymefest of over leveraging “Kanye’s name” and not being able to “sustain” Donda’s House.

“You have the audacity to use Kanye’s mom name to try to shed a negative light on Kanye,” she wrote, before adding, “You better believe I will make it my mission to take Donda’s House from you and let me children run it the way it should be run!”

She also informed Rhymefest that his invitation to collaborate on West’s new music in Wyoming had been rescinded.

Kardashian West’s latest Twitter beef comes just days after the couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary.

While sharing a never-before-seen image from the pair’s wedding day, the reality star wrote, “4 years down and forever to go.”

“Thank you babe for giving me our family and caring so much about us. Thank you for inspiring me on a daily, I’m so lucky. I can’t wait for forever,” she added. “Happy Anniversary.”

ROYAL WARRANT: Charlotte Casiraghi is the latest glamorous face to join the Saint Laurent fall campaign, marking her first official appearance since her Montblanc ads in 2015.
The granddaughter of Grace Kelly is said to be expecting a child with her partner, Dimitri Rassam, but there is no hint of a pregnancy belly in the black-and-white images, which show the sultry 31-year-old posing in a black cowboy shirt and slim black jeans, and a ruffle-edged pleated bustier dress with slouchy black boots.

The French fashion house also released a video of Casiraghi set to Velvet Underground’s “Venus in Furs.” The Monaco royal joins Kaia Gerber and Betty Catroux in the campaign, which is being released in stages by Saint Laurent’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
A regular presence at the label’s fashion shows in Paris, Casiraghi wore a Saint Laurent gown with an oversize ostrich feather trim to the annual Rose Ball in Monaco in March, where she confirmed her engagement to Rassam, the son of French actress Carole Bouquet.
She has previously starred in campaigns for Gucci, which like Saint Laurent belong to French conglomerate Kering, headed by François-Henri Pinault. Casiraghi is also close to Chanel

Central Saint Martins’ MA Students Present Graduate Collections at London Fashion Week

Student graduate shows can be hit or miss but the 19 MA students from Central Saint Martins presented an exciting mix that ran the sartorial gamut from extreme silhouettes and innovative textiles to sleek tailoring in more traditional fabrications.
Among the highlights: Liam Johnson, whose sculptural silhouettes opened the show; Elise Perrotta’s all cream collection featuring wardrobe staples in textural knits, and women’s wear designer Edwin Mohney, who closed the show with a provocative collection that included conceptual pieces made using inflatables wrapped in packing tape.
As in past seasons, craftsmanship in the men’s wear stood out. Particularly noteworthy was Olaf Tavares Vieira, whose draped men’s wear collection was awarded the L’Oreal Professional Creative Award. Inspired by utilitarianism and the stomach as the center of the body, his lineup included fluid ankle-grazing coats, along with sweaters with cutouts in the back and slouchy trousers enveloping the torso that had a monkish appeal.
“I like clothes that are close on the neck and belly and on the ankle,” Vieira explained. “It gives me a kind of strength, even if the clothes are soft.”

Kim Kardashian West isn’t afraid to get creative in the kitchen!

On Saturday, the mom of three shared that she had come up with a brand new type of food for her daughter North, 4 ½, and son Saint, 2, to eat: hot dog sushi rolls.

Sharing a photo of the innovative snack on her Instagram Stories, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 37, explained that “when your kids LOVE sushi & hotdogs you get creative.”

The reality star and husband Kanye West are also parents to daughter Chicago West, who was born in January.

The KKW Beauty mogul also continued to break her “no jewelry” rule on Saturday as she posted a picture of a series of chain necklaces arranged over her cleavage, including one which read “Pablo,” likely a tribute to her husband‘s last album, The Life of Pablo.

A few of the other layered necklaces Kardashian West wore also seemed to be a testament to her love for West, as they appeared to be from his 12-piece jewelry collection, which consists of thick-band rings and medallion-style pendant necklaces.

Vintage Christian Lacroix, Yves Saint Laurent on Sale Benefitting Women in Politics

Christene Barberich, founder of Refinery 29, has partnered with Rebecca Taylor, Rachel Antonoff and Stacy London for a vintage sale of over 150 one-of-a-kind pieces from the likes of Christian Lacroix, Kenzo, Nike, Yves Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, Prada and more to benefit women’s empowerment in the first installment of a series called “Vintage for a Cause.”
The sale tonight from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Rebecca Taylor store in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District will donate 50 percent of the proceeds to “Should She Run,” a charity working to put women in public office (the goal is 250,000 women in public office by 2030).

Donatella Versace Sets Scholarship for Central Saint Martins Students

REMEMBERING GIANNI: Donatella Versace is throwing her support — once again — behind young London talent in an important anniversary year for the brand.
Versace, who is in London for the Versus show on Sunday, has unveiled the Gianni Versace Scholarship, which aims to provide a “comprehensive financial support package” for a student starting the MA Fashion Course at Central Saint Martins this fall.
“Central Saint Martins educates and trains some of the best talents in the world of fashion. Many of their alumni have come to work with me over the years,” Versace said.
“I have always been a great advocate of supporting and listening to young talent, and it is with great pleasure that we are funding a yearly scholarship at the college as a tribute to my brother Gianni. He was a visionary designer, and in his memory we wanted to nurture the creators of tomorrow.”
The scholarship marks the 20-year anniversary of Gianni Versace’s murder in Miami, after which Donatella took control of the design studio.

Saint Laurent Backs Couture Training Program

Saint Laurent is the latest major fashion entity to get behind a program to nurture young talent. The company has developed what it terms “a training program for couture savoir-faire”  in partnership with two schools, the Institut Français de la Mode and the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne.
The six-month program will focus on innovation and sustainability, with the first course launching in September. Essentially, it’s an internship at Saint Laurent headquarters with students working in the company’s offices in addition to 25 days of courses held at the schools. Saint Laurent staff will work with interns from both schools in an experiential format central to which will be craft and creativity. At the end of the program in March 2018, the students will present a special project before a jury of school faculty and Saint Laurent staff.
The application process is currently underway and still open. Interested students can contact IFM and ECSCP.

Saint Laurie Changes Name to Kozinn + Sons

Saint Laurie, a third-generation New York City-based tailor, has sold its name to Yves Saint Laurent and changed the name of its business to Kozinn + Sons Merchant Tailors.
Andrew Kozinn, whose grandfather Samuel founded the company in 1913, said his family has been “involved in litigation” with Yves Saint Laurent on and off since the Seventies. But when the company’s former creative director Hedi Slimane decided to drop the Yves from the name and rebrand the collection Saint Laurent Paris in 2012, Kozinn said he sued again.
But the cost of “modern-day litigation,” and battling a massive corporation like Saint Laurent proved too “arduous” for the small Saint Laurie business and Kozinn opted to “sell the trademark to them.”
The deal was quietly cut last year, he said, but under the terms of the sale, Saint Laurie had a year to officially change its name.
Now Kozinn has sent a letter to the Saint Laurie customers revealing the name change and ensuring them of “my family’s continuing pledge to provide quality, service and value to you.”
The letter explained that there was ongoing “confusion” between Saint Laurie and Saint Laurent, especially with online searches, and “the two companies negotiated

Christopher Kane, Central Saint Martins Students Reimagine ‘Beauty and the Beast’

DISNEY FOR ADULTS: Disney is giving its adult fans a chance to relive their childhoods with a series of designer collaborations marking its new adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Christopher Kane is among Disney’s most popular collaborators, having just launched an extensive collection of ready-to-wear and accessories inspired by the new film.
As a self-confessed Disney fan and “animation snob” since childhood, the designer said he had always been looking for the right opportunity to partner with Disney.
“I hated ‘Tom and Jerry,’ I hated all that crap. I only watched Disney as a child, and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was even more of an exception because Belle was not a princess; she was a normal girl, she was smart, she was an outsider, so that’s why I had an immediate attraction,” said Kane, who celebrated the collection launch at his Mount Street flagship on Thursday.
The new, “more mature” adaptation of the film featuring Emma Watson as Belle presented an opportunity for the designer to reimagine the children’s classic into a collection for adults.

France’s Advertising Watchdog Asks Saint Laurent to Modify ‘Degrading’ Ads

PHOTO FAUX PAS: France’s advertising watchdog has asked Saint Laurent to modify visuals from its spring advertising campaign after receiving a number of complaints that they feature allegedly “degrading” images of women.
The Autorité de Régulation Professionnelle de la Publicité, or ARPP, has received around 70 complaints since last Friday about images from the Kering-owned brand’s spring campaign, according to ARPP general manager Stéphane Martin.
The two targeted ads, for Anthony Vaccarello’s debut collection for the label, feature models in fishnet tights and high-heel roller-skates, legs apart, including one leaning over a stool in a suggestive position. The campaign currently appears on billboards around France, mainly in Paris, and was published in certain magazines over the weekend.
Complaints include that the images are “demeaning,” “an incitation to rape,” and “encouraging anorexia,” Martin told WWD.
Representatives of Saint Laurent were not immediately available for comment.
The ARPP’s jury will meet on Friday to discuss the complaints, but it has already asked Saint Laurent to cease distributing the offensive ads, Martin said.
“We have alerted the advertiser, who is a member of ARPP, that these images do not conform with our code of conduct,” he said. “Respect for creative freedom is one thing, but there is also respect

Colette Makes Up With Saint Laurent, Celebrates With Window Displays

PARIS — Yves Saint Laurent is back at Colette.
The Paris concept store on Monday unveiled two window displays devoted to the French fashion house, signaling a reconciliation: Saint Laurent had severed ties with the retailer in 2013 after former creative director Hedi Slimane objected to Colette carrying parody T-shirts with the logo “Ain’t Laurent Without Yves.”
Sarah Andelman, Colette’s creative director, purchasing manager and the daughter of store founder Colette Rousseau, said discussions with Saint Laurent resumed after Anthony Vaccarello was named creative director of the brand last year. Colette previously carried Vaccarello’s eponymous line, which he shuttered when he joined Saint Laurent.
“We have worked with Anthony since his first collection. It was obvious that we would be able to work together again,” Andelman told WWD. “As soon as Anthony’s nomination was announced, we met and we started planning the beautiful windows we have right now.”
Vaccarello unveiled the collaboration on his Instagram account.

The windows will remain on show until March 1, the day after Vaccarello parades his fall collection for Saint Laurent. Andelman noted this was exceptional, since the store usually switches its window displays on Sundays.

Saint Laurent Ad Campaign Lifts Veil on Fall Men’s Collection

PARIS — Anthony Vaccarello made an impact with his reimagining of the Saint Laurent woman for his debut show for the brand in September. But with the company having opted out of showing on the Paris men’s calendar for the past two seasons, what about his vision for the Saint Laurent man?
In a WWD exclusive, the designer lifts the veil on his fall men’s collection for the house through a graphic, raw advertising campaign based on photos and collages by American artist and fashion photographer Collier Schorr, who also lensed its spring women’s campaign — and just shot the spring DKNY campaign with Bella Hadid.
In addition, the house will join the ranks of brands going coed, opting to show a selection of the fall men’s looks alongside its women’s fall collection, to be held on Feb. 28 in a former Cistercian convent, which is being renovated to house its future 100,000-square-foot headquarters.
The venue already hosted the women’s show last season, with a construction crane hoisting a giant neon sign spelling the letters YSL against the night sky.

GO LOGO: The Fondation Pierre Bergé — Yves Saint Laurent has unveiled the graphic identities of the soon-to-open Yves Saint Laurent museums in Paris and Marrakech — two of which incorporate the original YSL logo in all its glory.
The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris is due to open in the house’s historic building on Avenue Marceau during Paris Fashion Week in late September, with the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech set to open on Rue Yves Saint Laurent, near the Jardin Majorelle, on Oct. 14.
For the graphic identify of the Musee Yves Saint Laurent in the French capital, Paris-based design agency Wolkoff & Arnodin used the iconic YSL logo ± in both the interlaced and horizontal versions — as the central element, in a black and bronze 20th-century Garamond typeface, bookended with the words “Musée” and “Paris.” As longstanding collaborators of the house, cofounders Alexandre Wolkoff and Antoine Arnodin began working with Yves Saint Laurent in 1975, then as part of the influential branding agency MAFIA, or Maïmé Arnodin, Fayolle, International, Associés.

Caleres, Saint Louis Fashion Fund Name Emerging Designer Finalists

On Monday night, a bit of the Midwest came to New York City for the announcement of the Caleres Emerging Designer Award finalists, presented by the Saint Louis Fashion Fund. Designers from six brands were recognized in contention for the award, a $ 25,000 grant to be chosen on Nov. 4, during Saint Louis Fashion Week: Julie Haus and Jason Alkire of Haus Alkire, Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta of Eckhaus Latta, Azede Jean-Pierre, Katharine Polk of Houghton, Brandon Sun, and Jordana Warmflash of Novis.
The announcement came in the form of a cocktail party, held at the Caleres (formerly known as Brown Shoe Company) and Sam Edelman showroom in Midtown Manhattan, and hosted by Diane Sullivan, chief executive officer, president and chairman of Caleres, along with Sam and Libby Edelman, Tomoko Ogura, Roopal Patel, Lisa Perry and Gary Wassner. You’ll Need More Than A Credit Card To Get Your Hands on Saint Laurent’s New Couture Collection

With price tags in the 5-digit range, couture collections are prohibitively expensive for most of us. But now, Saint Laurent is taking the already exclusive category to the next level.

Today, the French fashion house announced plans to bring back couture with “Yves Saint Laurent” Couture ivory silk label under the tutelage of designer Hedi Slimane. The house’s last couture show was in 2002 and designed by the late Yves Saint Laurent, who died in 2008.

The new collection of silky tuxedos and black column dresses will debut in Saint Laurent ads shot by Slimane next month. But shelling out tens of thousands of dollars for a look simply won’t be enough to get your hands on one. According to the brand’s chief executive, Francesca Bellettini, you’ll also need to be a “friend of the house”.

“Hedi Slimane decides these orders case by case. Unlike a couture collection, this is an even more exclusive definition,” Bellettini, told The New York Times. She also said that the collection will be available to actresses to be worn for red carpet events, such as the Oscars or the Cannes Film Festival.

Saint Laurent Gets LEED Certification

GREEN SHOPPING: Saint Laurent is keen on reducing its ecological footprint. The French designer label headed by Hedi Slimane scooped up LEED Platinum Certification for three of its global flagships: the Rodeo Drive women’s boutique in Beverly Hills, London’s Old Bond Street store and the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré unit in Paris.
The architectural concept originally designed by Slimane in 2012 is based on low-energy lighting, minimal water consumption and better indoor air quality. To wit: Since its reopening in 2014, the Rodeo Drive venue has decreased its energy consumption by 57 percent via a solar panels installation on the roof of the building.
LEED — Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design — is managed by the U.S. Green Building Council. According to the Saint Laurent, this is the first time a luxury brand has awarded the Council’s highest certification for multiple free-standing stores.

The Peruvian mystic St. Rose of Lima (Isabel Flores y Oliva, 1586-1617) was canonized in 1671 as the first saint of the New World and remains the object of widespread devotion today. In this engrossing new study, Frank Graziano uses the example of St. Rose to explore the meaning of female
mysticism and the way in which saints are products of their cultures.
Virginity, austerity, eucharistic devotion, incessant mortification, and mystical marriage to Christ characterized the devotional regimen that structured St. Rose''s entire life. Many of her mystical practices echo the symptoms of such modern psychological disorders as masochism, depression,
hysteria, and anorexia nervosa. Graziano offers a sophisticated argument not only for the origins and meaning of these behaviors in Rose''s case, but also for the reason her culture venerated them as signs of sanctity. In the process he explores a wide range of themes, from the idea of suffering as
an expression of love to the assimilation of childhood trauma through religious repetition.
Graziano also offers a penetrating analysis of the politics of Rose''s canonization. He finds that her mystical union with God–bypassing the institutional channels of sacrament and priestly mediation–was inherently subversive to the bureaucratized Church. Canonization was a cooptation by which
Rose''s competing claim to Christ was integrated into the Catholic canon.
The book concludes with a fascinating exploration of mystical eroticism, with its intense experiences of vision and ecstasy. The eroticized suffering of many mystics is shown to be very human in origin: the mystic''s wounded love is projected onto a God conceived to accommodate it.
