Snuggle Time! Kim Kardashian and ‘Bestie’ North Cuddle Up to Kanye West in Family Selfie

Kim Kardashian West had some snuggle time with her “bestie” North West and her husband Kanye West on Friday.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star — who is also mother to Chicago, 4 months, and son Saint, 2 — posted an adorable family photo on Instagram. The shot shows Kim and her 4½-year-old daughter making eyes at the camera as North rested in her dad’s arms.

“My bestie 💕” Kardashian West, 37, captioned the picture.

The adorable photos kept coming on Saturday, when Kardashian West shared a blast-from-the-past picture of herself as a kid dressed for what appeared to be a dance recital.

“Jazz hands,” the KKW Beauty star wrote on the moment, which showed her posing with a cane and wearing a black leotard and black top hat.

On Thursday, Kardashian West celebrated her fourth wedding anniversary with West, 40, by sharing a never-before-seen photo from their stunning 2014 wedding in Florence, Italy.

“4 years down and forever to go…” she captioned the post. “Thank you babe for giving me our family and caring so much about us. Thank you for inspiring me on a daily, I’m so lucky. I can’t wait for forever… Happy Anniversary.”

West couldn’t contain his affection for his wife either. “Gratitude and happiness best describe what my wife means to me. I’m deeply grateful and purely happy 😊,” he tweeted.

The rapper followed it up with another tweet about one of his “favorite moments” involving his wife, sharing a video of her dancing to Tejano music star Selena’s song “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” during Halloween last year, when Kardashian dressed up as the late singer.

Their anniversary came on the heels of a challenging time for the couple. Two months ago, West dominated the news cycle with Twitter spreesexplosive interviews and a controversial alliance with President Donald Trump.

He also revealed that he suffered from an opioid addiction after becoming dependent on the pain medications following a liposuction procedure in 2016.

Sources have told PEOPLE that Kardashian West does her best to support her husband when he stirs up controversy — even though it can be challenging. “Does Kim agree with everything Kanye does and says? No, absolutely not,” one source said. “But does she stand by him? Always. They always have each other’s backs and will always go to bat for one another.”

Another source told PEOPLE that the reality star is especially supportive of West because they have a family together. “She’s very forgiving towards him, especially since he is the father of her children,” the source said. “He’s been through low points before and she knows people make mistakes.”

Three weeks ago, West escaped the Hollywood scene and stationed himself in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, remaining mostly under the radar as he works to finish his upcoming albums. Kardashian West has traveled back and forth between Jackson Hole and Los Angeles to spend time with her husband — and it looks like she may have been back in town for their anniversary. On Wednesday, she shared a photo of the couple’s eldest daughter overlooking a picturesque landscape.

“Kanye will be in Jackson Hole for several more weeks,” a source told PEOPLE earlier this week. “Kim will travel back and forth to see him. She’s happy he’s focused on his music instead of going on social media rants.”

“Kanye seems great,” the source added. “He loves Jackson Hole. He thinks it’s the perfect place to create his music.”

Kim Kardashian West Shows Serious Cleavage in Sexy Selfie from Tokyo Trip

Kim Kardashian West is feeling herself(ie).

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 37, shared a saucy selfie on Saturday, hours after she was spotted jetting out of Japan as she wrapped up her time abroad with sisters Kourtney Kardashian and pregnant Khloé Kardashian.

Wearing an unbuttoned black tuxedo jacket, matching black pants and a pair of clear blue heels, the KKW Beauty mogul stuck out her tongue as she snapped a photo of herself on her phone — which was covered with Kimojis.

Fittingly, she simply captioned the revealing photo with a tongue emoji.

Hours earlier the new mom posted a photo paying homage to her newborn daughter Chicago.

“Chicago in Japan,” Kardashian West wrote alongside a picture of herself standing in front of a Japanese store called “Chicago” while wearing a short blue mini dress that clung to her enviable curves.

As for little Chicago’s absence from the Tokyo trip, a source previously told PEOPLE that Kardashian West “didn’t want to disrupt her children’s schedule” and choose to keep them at home in California.

A second insider added that her husband Kanye West and mom Kris Jenner are taking on childcare duties for 6-week-old Chicago, Saint, 2, and North, 4½, while Kardashian West is away.

“Kim is a working mom. She has work obligations like working moms do,” the source explained. “The Tokyo trip is a working trip and not kid-friendly.”

“She loves being a mom,” the source continued, adding that Kardashian West “also feels lucky that Kris is able to help out while she works.”

Police Escort Drunk Man Home, Tuck Him In Bed And Take A Selfie

Reece Park, a man living in Tasmania, got so drunk on Sunday night that he couldn’t remember how he got home.

But a photo he found on his cell phone the next morning left a pretty interesting clue.

The photo, which Park posted to Facebook and was shared by Tasmanian Police, featured two cops taking a selfie with Park in the background, doing the “hang ten” gesture in bed.

Park’s caption reads:

“So was just looking through my phone and turns out these good ***** took some banger selfies after they took my drunk ass home! Bloody legends.”

Constable Jeremy Blyth told Yahoo 7 News in Australia that he and fellow officer Natalie Siggins found Park in the back of a taxi after the company called the police for assistance. Blyth said that Park “didn’t know where he lived, he wasn’t saying much.”

Eventually the officers figured out where he lived and took him home.

“Because he was a bit worse for wear, our officers took the opportunity to record the moment with a selfie in the likely event he could not remember how he got home,” Senior Sergeant Craig Fox said in the Tasmanian Police’s Facebook post.

Blyth and Siggins also waited for a friend to come by Park’s house before they left to keep an eye on him.

Siggins said taxi companies occasionally call the police to assist with riders who are too inebriated to get home, but it’s part of the job.

“People’s friends put them in taxis thinking they’ll get home safe,” she told Yahoo. “But unfortunately they end up like Reece, asleep in the backseat, not able to get themselves all the way home.”

Fox advised that people make a plan before they drink.

“Then there’s no risk to you, your family, friends or others on the road,” he said on Facebook.

As for Park, the experience hasn’t exactly deterred him from getting completely tanked in the future.

When asked by Yahoo if this has sworn him off booze, he responded with, “Don’t know. I’ll soon find out, I reckon.”

Human Academy Award Leonardo DiCaprio is as close to a perfect specimen as we’re going to get in our lifetime.

Because, amid a bevy of iconic roles and shelves full of awards, “The Revenant” actor is at heart a humanitarian, an environmentalist and an expert at hiding from his fans. He’s also great at taking selfies.

To prove it, here’s a selfie the actor took in support of the recently-signed Paris Agreement (again, he’s amazing).

With that stare, we’d agree to anything.

And though we’re pretty sure DiCaprio hasn’t taken a photo with a gigantic Twitter phone/mirror thing before, he seems really happy with how his selfie came out.

Like, really happy. It’s like he didn’t even know that he was actually that handsome.

Keep the selfies (and monkey photos) coming, Leo.

Hilaria Baldwin Posts Underwear Selfie Two Days After Giving Birth

Just two days after giving birth to her son Rafael, Hilaria Baldwin shared an underwear selfie on Instagram, and she looks amazing.

In the shot, Alec Baldwin’s wife is seen posing in front of a mirror while wearing a lacy bra and a pair of black briefs. The brunette beauty also included the following heartfelt caption with her photo:

“Update on us… Rafael is doing wonderfully! He is two days old now. Such a sweet little boy. I’m feeling well, been up with him every hour to two hours. I have been planning on doing post belly photos but didn’t know if I was gonna have the guts to actually follow through. I hope you understand my intention here: I believe it is important to accept and love our form after going through a bit of a battle bringing life into this world. Deep breath, here we go…all the way from my glamorous hospital bathroom. #ShrinkingBaldwinBabyBump #NoShame #LoveYourBody”

The mother of two’s photo was met with plenty of support from her followers, who left comments calling her “brave” for “being honest about post-baby bodies,” and thanking her for sharing a positive message.

Hilaria gave birth to her second child with Alec on June 17. The pair are also parents to daughter Carmen, and Hilaria is stepmother to Alec’s 19-year-old daughter Ireland, from his marriage to Kim Basinger.

On the ‘A’ w/Souleo: Rafia Santana’s ‘SELFiE’ Is Better Than Yours

The art of the selfie is under attack. From the Met Gala to the Cannes Film Festival to Coachella, high-profile events have recently instituted measures meant to limit or altogether delete the taking of selfies. But you can’t tell that to multimedia artist, Rafia Santana, with the debut of her SELFiE exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA).

2015-05-16-1431785220-8729858-RAFiASANTANAPAiNTMEPUKiNG2014.jpg

RAFiA SANTANA, PAiNT ME PUKiNG (2014)

“Anybody who thinks selfies are only vain wants to reduce the importance of a human being. I am not sure where the judgment comes from,” she said. “We should all be reflective of ourselves whether we are in a good place or bad place. Selfies help to bring us out of a bad place to uplift ourselves and connect with others.”

2015-05-16-1431785254-9641748-RAFiASANTANAPAiNTME2014.jpg

RAFiA SANTANA, PAiNT ME (2014)

Resembling something out of an Afrofuturistic dreamscape, Santana’s work integrates digitally manipulated images with soundscapes that advance the selfie from candid shots to visual statements. Her process usually begins with a photograph of herself that is combined with other photos taken on her mobile device. The image is then enhanced via a tablet where she uses her hands to digitally paint and complete the work. Thematically the 25-year-old artist focuses on issues related to her self-identity as a young black woman dealing with daily reminders of race and gender challenges.

“As a small short black woman I have had to always affirm my existence and place. In academic and male dominated spaces I have to push myself twice as far to get recognized for the things that I do well,” she said. “So these images are indicative of me standing my ground on this planet and showing how important I feel I am, as we should all feel we are. In the media we only see black people as coons and thugs. We don’t get to tell our own story as human beings that have good and bad. Being a kid growing up on the internet I realized that a good selfie image of yourself can make others see you in a better light. So it’s important to show ourselves in positive imagery.”

Get Over Selfie

Recent research by The Body Shop reveals that the average young woman spends 753 hours of her life, that’s approximately ONE MONTH, taking, editing and uploading the perfect selfie. True story.

I have often been amazed and frustrated at the preponderance of open laptops and their mishmash of owners filling almost every table in every coffee shop and café across the globe; that is, until I joined the ranks of table-takers nursing a macchiato long past its due date. It’s so unifying to be surrounded by so many people pretending to be serious writers. The blogosphere is filled with thousands of the great unwashed and uneducated dabblers, along side so many discarded award-winning journalists as well as hordes of wanna-be novelists and screenwriters. We all seem to have so much to say, and there’s something comforting about doing it all together while being alone in our heads.

Today, while NOT writing the article I am supposed to be writing, I became fixated on a pretty teenaged girl at the table right next to me, tossing her hair from one side to the other, all the while texting and snapping, as she posed — at first pouty-mouthed, then sensuously, lips parted, smiling at no one. She repeated each ‘look’ and snapped selfie after selfie, making sure to catch her reflection in the window. She must have seen me staring but to her, I’m past the age of deserving even a glance; I don’t exist.

She was bored and had obviously run out of people to text, friends to call. She took another selfie, making a ‘yucch’ face at her barely-touched bagel. Then a picture of the contents of her purse, of her split-ends and then of the scar on her knee, which she named “Scar-Jo”, written in eyeliner on her napkin. That and all the other banal photos were then beamed into Cyberville for all her admirers and their admirers to share with their admirers. Bored from watching this boring girl, I steeled myself and began tapping on my computer.

This was to be my Pulitzer prize-winning piece on body-shaming but my fragile concentration was shattered by Scar-Jo-girl’s loud Miley Cyrus ring-tone. Completely clueless that she wasn’t alone in the universe, she began berating the person on the other end. It could have only been her mother, given the accusatory diatribe she unleashed: “Because of your ‘poor planning,’ I’m going to have to go to prom wearing those stupid ($ 5000.) ‘pretend’ invisible braces, which will ruin everything!” I wanted to smack her. Lucky for her and the rest of us, she gathered up her stuff and stormed out of the café, still ranting, leaving her bagel just sitting there. I’m tempted. No. I’m better than that.

I turn back to my computer but am soon distracted by the arrival of a guy, best described as “Pigpen” who is all excited as he drops into his chair where a friend, almost as disheveled, has been absent-mindedly Snapchatting. Pigpen, his shirt wrinkled under an ill-fitting jacket, and hair looking like it may be housing a couple of hatchlings, is excited because he aced his job interview. The waiter brings him what looks to be a glass of chardonnay. In his exuberance Pigpen knocks it over and it shatters all over the table. Both guys are killing themselves laughing. They simultaneously whip out their phones. Selfies and pics are snapped and instantly posted. I immediately think, there goes his chance of a job. It may have just been apple juice but in that flash of the moment, Pigpen is going to come across like a sloppy daytime drunk.

I now am ruminating on whether I’m being too judgmental, given that I once sported a Farrah Fawcett look-a-like full tress of streaked hair on a head possibly better suited to a mane. I wore mini dresses when less leg would have been better but with absolute confidence as I loudly giggled and laughed along with my peers in many a cafe where the regulars would have been far happier if our sloppy, obnoxious gaggle had not been born. The push of a button technology that is now ubiquitous didn’t exist for us but yet we were just as preening and impervious to the world around us as the selfie-obsessed texters of today. One day, they too will look back askance and wonder how the current crop of young people can be so caught up with their own fabulousness. Some maybe reminded of their younger selves but most will grouch,, grumble and groan proving that they have disconnected from the good times gone by.

I return to my work when the waiter asks if I’d like anything else as he picks up the pouty girl’s bagel-plate, which mysteriously has migrated to my table and is now empty, except for a few crumbs. I’m horrified and wonder if I should take a selfie to prove to myself that I don’t even know when I’m eating. I decide not to. Firstly, I am as far from camera ready as a homeless woman on her way to the local garbage dump. Actually I am dressed as a writer — in a baggy formless sweatshirt and nondescript, stained, well worn, past their prime pants… I think they’re mine. My hair is awful, an overgrown thatch and there is ink on everything. I always make notes on scraps of paper/napkins before inputting into my computer. Secondly and the real reason; I can’t bear the idea that my unconscious eating of someone else’s leftovers will live on to remind me how pathetic a moment that was. I am not selfie-worthy!

First Chewbacca Photo From ‘Star Wars’ Set Is A Selfie With Bob Iger… Maybe

It’s the selfie seen ’round the Galaxy.

A photo posted to the official Star Wars Instagram account on Sunday shows Disney boss Bob Iger posing with Chewbacca — and it’s been racing through Twitter, Imgur, Reddit and more with all the speed of a smuggler trying to make the Kessel Run.

Online, many have speculated that the photo could be the first image of a character on the set of “Star Wars: Episode VII,” which is going into production in London. Some have even postulated that the man in the costume is none other than Peter Mayhew, the actor who portrays Chewie in the films and is reprising the role in “Episode VII,” and that the image was taken at Pinewood Studios in London, where portions of the movie will be shot.

However, the only description on the Instagram image is “Chairman’s new co-pilot. #StarWarsDay,” and Mayhew’s Twitter account has been silent for a few days.

Stay tuned.

Selfie, Begone

Boy, do I hate the word of the year.

You’ve probably heard it. Yes, the word “selfie,” which the Oxford Dictionaries chose as the word of the year for 2013.

Not only is at an ugly word — it has an infantile sound (perhaps it’s that diminutive “ee” that makes up the second syllable) but it’s also, to my mind, rather belittling. Someone who takes a picture of him or herself isn’t just marking a moment in time, and sharing it on social media, but doing so in a way that makes him or her somehow laughable.

Or maybe it’s just that people who take pictures of themselves don’t mind being laughed at for the awkward poses, the odd angles, the bad lighting and the fishbowl aspect of the whole thing. If you’re taking a photo of yourself to post on social media, well, you don’t mind looking sort of foolish.

It’s also the whole “self” implication of the word that rubs me the wrong way. We live in an era that values community — and with that is the remarkable growth of social media, which allows people to connect with each other — and people simply posting pictures they take of themselves (the implication also being they can’t be bothered asking someone to do it) is both a bit too narcissistic and, well, a little sad. Selfie seems somehow linked to “selfish” and that doesn’t sit right.

Now, I am a marketer who urges writers to take full advantage of social media to broaden their reach and spread their message. But I don’t advocate posting funny pictures of yourself you’ve taken simply to commemorate your being someplace.

It can be dilute your message. Or just seem inappropriate. Just after the death of Nelson Mandela, someone I know posted a photo of himself standing in front of Mandela’s house in South Africa. I was impressed how this person was able to make the death of a beloved leader all about himself. I imagine this person realized it himself — he took down the photo after a few hours.

Perhaps it’s both the word selfie and the selfie action that I find annoying. I’m not one for policing words — it’s impossible, for one thing — especially since English has become the most powerful language in the world because of its adaptability and because English swallows and accepts so many other words, thus enriching itself.

English isn’t language that fears losing its own identity — unlike, say, French — and it’s stronger for that. English has perhaps more words than any other language and is the better for it.

Still, some words that are officially recognized as a word of the year may not, perhaps, live that long. Trendy words may fade away like yesterday’s ultra-hip lingo.

That said, I’m all for recognizing another word, one that describes someone who pops up in the middle of someone else’s photograph to “spoil” the effect. You know — someone taking a selfie only to find that another person is also in the frame and smiling at the camera and totally upstaging the selfie taker. That word is photobomb — and maybe it will help obliterate the selfie.
