‘She’s Got My Back’! Justin Timberlake Praises Wife Jessica Biel in Sweet Instagram Post

What’s the secret to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel‘s happy relationship? According to “Like I Love You” singer, it may be because Beil’s always there to support him.

On Saturday, Timberlake, 37, shared a sweet Instagram showing his wife of five years embracing him from behind.

“She’s got my back,” he wrote in the post’s caption.

Of course, fans of the pair are used to seeing them support each other on social media.

Just last month, Biel gave love to her husband in a video on Twitter, cheering him on from the stands of Toronto’s Air Canada Centre as he kicked off his Man of the Woods world tour.

“There’s nothing better than watching your man do what they’ve been put on this earth to do,” The Sinner star, 36, captioned a video of Timberlake performing his hit “Mirrors” — even sticking out her tongue for the camera after watching him walk by. “I’m so proud of you, man of the woods!”

The duo tied the knot back on Oct. 19, 2012 at the Borgo Egnazia resort in Puglia, Italy.

“It was magical. It was an unforgettable evening,” Timberlake told PEOPLE exclusively at the time.

“It was a fantasy,” Biel also shared.

The couple are now parents to son Silas Randall, who turns 3 on Sunday.

Back in October for their anniversary, Timberlake wrote a sweet love letter to his wife on social media.

“Today is even more special for me because five years ago, on this day, I became the luckiest man in the world when I exchanged vows with my best friend,” Timberlake wrote on Facebook, captioning a throwback video of himself singing Leon Russell’s 1970 classic, “A Song for You,” which he recalled “was our first dance.”

“To my beautiful Jess: You have taught me so much about what a true love means. I can’t put into words what these last five years have meant to me, so… ‘Listen to the melody ‘cause my love is in there hiding,’ ” he concluded, along with the hashtag #Happy5thAnniversaryWifey.

On Instagram, he posted the same video and ended his post with an adorable shot of himself sharing a smooch with Biel.

“My tender heart is yours, now until forever,” Biel replied.

Amber Tamblyn is looking for the driver she claims almost hit her and her 1-year-old daughter Marlow Alice as they attempted to cross the street in New York City.

The 34-year-old actress shared a tweet on Sunday afternoon detailing the scary incident and looking for more information.

“If anyone in Brooklyn near the intersection of Washington Ave and Atlantic Ave just saw a Hasidic man in a grey van try to hit a woman and her baby in a stroller as she crossed a crosswalk, honking and touching the stroller with the car’s bumper, please DM me,” she wrote. “That woman was me.”

In response to a tweet asking if she and her baby were okay, Tamblyn said, “Very shaken but yes, we’re okay.”

The actress welcomed her first child with husband David Cross, who she married in 2012, in February 2017. She even received a letter written by former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to the newborn.

“Dear Marlow: Happy Birthday!” the note read. “Your birth has been a source of great joy for your parents, Amber and David, and your vast community of admirers and champions. Lana Del Rey Says She’s Facing a Potential Radiohead Lawsuit Over Song Similarities

Lana Dey Rey has claimed that Radiohead may sue her over similarities between her 2017 song “Get Free” and their hit 1992 song “Creep.”

“It’s true about the lawsuit,” the 32-year-old singer wrote on social media on Sunday, responding to rumors that began circulating after British tabloid the Sun claimed that the band was considering suing Del Rey for copyright infringement.

Addressing the matter on social media, Del Rey went on to claim that her song was not inspired by the band’s hit single.

“Although I know my song wasn’t inspired by Creep, Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing,” she wrote, adding that she had “offered up to 40 over the last few months but they will only accept 100.”

“Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court,” she continued.

PEOPLE’s request for comment from Radiohead was not immediately returned.

Jenni Rivera’s Daughter Jacqie Announces She’s Divorcing the Father of Her Kids

Follow us on InstagramFacebook, and Twitter.

Jenni Rivera’s daughter Jacqie Campos announced she is in the process of divorcing husband Mike Campos, the father of her three children, after five years of marriage. The star of the Universo reality show The Riveras — which also stars her siblings, Chiquis, Johnny, Jenicka and Mikey — revealed the news on Instagram Dec. 13. Although her rep told PEOPLE CHICA she is not talking to press at this time, the singer shared the news in an open letter on social media.

“As you know, I have made i‎t a point to include you guys in the the best and worst moments of my life. So I don’t want to leave you behind on this,” the 28-year-old said to her fans. “Mike and I are in the process of our divorce. The people closest to me already know and their support has been such a great help. But, I didn’t want to leave you all out as you all have also been with me through all moments of my life.”

Jacqie, now focusing on raising her kids, requested that her followers respect her privacy during the difficult transition: “I ask that you all kindly refrain from posting any comments regarding the divorce. Whether they be sad, religious, or your personal opinions. As I’m sure many of you can understand, divorces are between two people.”

She added that she intends to make the process as painless as possible for herself, her ex and their children: “Even though we are public figures, I want to protect the little privacy we do have not only for Mike’s and my heart, but mainly for our kids. I am simply posting this because I care for you all and I know many of you have had questions and concerns about the status of our relationship. I wanted to be the one to confirm to you, all in the efforts to silence any doubts.”

Although Jacqie did not reveal the reasons of the split, she ended her message with an assurance that the divorce was amicable. “We will continue to be friends in order to provide as amazing parents to our children,” she concluded. “At this time, I have decided to disclose no further information. I simply ask for your love and prayers in this new season of both our lives.”

The reality star and Campos got married in a glamorous ceremony in November 2012 that aired on Mun2 (now NBC Universo) as a one-hour television special. Her mother — singer Jenni Rivera, who died in a plane crash a few weeks later — was with Jacqie on her wedding day.

On this past Mother’s Day, Jacqie posted a photo of her dressed in white with her famous mom by her side and the heartfelt caption: “Oh how I wish I could go back to this day. Just so that I can be with you. Happy Mother’s Day to the woman that never gave up on me. One of the strongest woman I know. And a special Mother’s Day to all the single mommas. I admire you all. AMAs Host Tracee Ellis Ross Is Excited to See Mom Diana Honored at the Show: ‘She’s an International Treasure’

Sunday’s American Music Awards will be a family affair, with Tracee Ellis Ross hosting and mom Diana Ross doing double duty as a performer and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

“She’s a bit of an international treasure in my opinion,” the black-ish star, 45, tells PEOPLE. “I’m excited that a younger generation gets to witness that, even just through the television screen. Also I think it’s a really extraordinary thing to honor somebody who’s had such an everlasting career, whose music has touched lives in such a poignant and special way. Music reaches into your heart, and my mom’s voice has been a part of people’s lives for a long time.”

Ross plans to honor her mother, a 12-time Grammy nominee, in a personal way.

“I love clothes,” says the actress, who recently released a women’s clothing line with JC Penney. “I’m a style girl, so there will be a couple nods to my mother and her extraordinary fashion.”

Aside from the “I’m Coming Out” singer, Ross looks forward to seeing Pink, who will take the stage in addition to Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas and more at the awards show. “I’m obsessed with Pink,” Ross gushes. “I think she is extraordinary and she’s got some performances and a couple things I know about that I’m really excited about.”

The Los Angeles native also recognizes that some viewers will expect her to address current events topics such as the numerous sexual harassment and misconduct accusations that have been made against powerful men, as well as gun control in the wake of the Las Vegas tragedy. But whether she plans to comment on those issues will be a ggame-timedecision.

“I think I will follow my heart around what feels appropriate in the moment,” Ross says. “There is a full show and a lot of things are being addressed in other ways. But as a human being, that is clearly an area I have a lot of feelings about. If there’s a way that I feel it’s appropriate to address any or all of those issues, I will. And if not, you guys can go to my Instagram feed, because we know I’m vocal there.”

The single star adds that the range of accusations that’ve come out against Hollywood heavy hitters recently aren’t specific to her industry.

“The Hollywood stories are louder in this moment but this is not a Hollywood story,” asserts Ross. “It’s not a Hollywood scandal. It’s actually a revelation of a reality, and I think that’s really what’s important about what’s happening right now.”

As someone who’s been in the business for over two decades, Ross says that while she’s surprised by the inappropriate behaviors that’ve come to light over the recent weeks, she’s more so appalled.

“Had I known some of those things, I hope I would’ve been a person who spoke up way longer than it had to take,” the Girlfriends alum says. “I would hope that I would not have ben a bystander who didn’t know what to do; that I would push through the fear and attempted to help.”

She continues, “Right now the curtains need to be pulled so that we can actually see what’s here and there’s not a shred of secrecy around this. From there, there’s going to be a lot of learning for people to do and figure out why this behavior is so persistent, so that people can actually not be participating in that kind of abuse of power and privilege.”

The American Music Aawards air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Ex-Teacher Debra LaFafave ‘Has Become a Christian and She’s a Great Mom’ Years After Student Sex Scandal: Friend

Wherever Debra Lafave goes, people recognize her.

Lafave became nationally-known in 2004 when she was arrested for having a sexual relationship with a student at the Tampa-area school where she taught. She was 24; he was 14. The story became international news — partly because female teacher sex scandals were relatively rare, and partly because Lafave was a tall, statuesque blonde.

The boy told police officers in Temple Terrace, Florida, that he had sex with Lafave three times in four days, according to court documents. One of those times was allegedly in a car while his 15-year-old cousin drove them around. He also said she performed a sex act on him multiple times, including during one encounter at her home.

In November 2006, Lafave pleaded guilty in Hillsborough County court to two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior. In court, she offered her “deepest apologies” to the boy and his family and said she was “deeply remorseful.” She also disclosed that she was undergoing treatment for bipolar disorder.

“My greatest regret would probably be the fact that I put this young man through this,” she said in court. She was sentenced to three years house arrest and seven years probation and was required to register as a sex offender.

Thirteen years have passed since her arrest, but Lafave is still constantly recognized in the Tampa area. “We’d go to the mall, and people just stare,” her friend, Joe Zuniga, tells PEOPLE. “She looks the exact same. She still gets hate mail about it. She hates the attention.”

Zuniga, a Latin recording artist, has known LaFave for more than a decade — and she cooperated with him in the publication of a book about her life, Debra Lafave: A Crown of Beauty for Ashes. The self-published book is sympathetic to his friend, who Zuniga says has grown both spiritually and emotionally since the scandal.

“She’s a completely different person when she was when she was 24,” says Zuniga. “She has grown up a lot. She has become a Christian, and she’s a great mom. She recently got married, and she just ignores the media. She knows it will always be there, but she focuses on her life now. It’s very normal.”

“She Makes No Excuses”

Lafave is now 37 years old, living in a modest 3-bedroom home in a small Tampa suburb. She had twin boys in 2011, but the relationship didn’t last. She recently got married again.

As a registered sex offender, Lafave is required to check in with the state regularly to give her whereabouts.

Zuniga says that Lafave understands the gravity of what she did in 2004. “She makes no excuses for what she did,” he says. “She has always owned up to it. She says, ‘If I could turn back time, I’d never would do that.’ She understands that she didn’t just negatively affect her life, but she hurt many other people, and she is still very sorry for it.”

Lafave has not responded to PEOPLE’s request for an interview. “Everyone contacts her to tell her story,” says Zuniga. “I’ve asked her why she wouldn’t, and she says she’s just not interested in the attention. She wants to just live her life as a wife and mom.”

Kristen Bell Shares the Cooking Mistake She’s Made So Many Times, It’s Now a Holiday Tradition

In the midst of everything that comes with hosting a holiday, people are bound to forget a thing or two sometimes — and Kristen Bell is no exception.

Bell, who has partnered with Whole Foods Market for this year’s holiday campaign, says for the past two or three years, she’s realized she’s made the same mistake every time dinner has rolled around: “Between me and my mom, we forget to pull the tofurkey out of the freezer,” the vegetarian actress tells PEOPLE. “We were so concerned with the turkey for everyone, so 5 p.m. rolls around and we’re like ‘Oh no, we have a frozen tofurkey.’”

Bell says she now has a new “mini” tradition: enjoying the tofurkey the day after the actual holiday.

The Bad Moms 2 star, who shares several fun tips in a series of videos for the campaign, says hosting people at her house and cooking for them is her “love language.”

“It’s my ideal scenario,” she tells PEOPLE. “I enjoy going out to a good dinner but I prefer an environment where I can control the light and the music and the people that I’m around and have a more intimate experience. I enjoy welcoming people into my home.”

RELATED: The Absolute Best Thanksgiving Side Dishes

Bell, who is married to actor Dax Shepard, says around the holidays they are usually craving a sweet potato dish. “There’s so much you can do with it like twice baking it and adding to it to be sweet or savory by putting fruit like pomegranates on top or putting maple syrup on top of it.”

And while the couple likes to eat what is seasonally available, Bell says it’s also important she knows where the food they eat comes from.

“I think it’s important to make eating not just conscious, but fun, and I think it’s important to pay attention to where your food is from and what food is going into your body,” the mom of two says. “I knew that from a really young age because I became a vegetarian at 11 and my mom’s a nurse so she said if you’re going to be a vegetarian you need to know what foods you need and how to feed your body.”

WATCH THIS: Marshmallow Turkey Leg Treats for Thanksgiving

Bell has been passing her food knowledge down to her daughters, who also enjoy spending time in the kitchen.

“I do like to involve them as much as I possibly can,” Bell says. “I also like that they are interested in the fact that I care so much about food and we can talk about that and why we eat the foods we eat, and talk about a colorful plate when I’m cutting up vegetables for a platter or a dish. We talk about what goes into it and why it’s good for your body. We have a lot of those discussions in our house so they understand that eating is something that should be done consciously.”

Florida Puppy Is Thriving After Losing Leg From Alligator Attack: ‘She’s Such a Survivor’

After losing a leg following an alligator attack in September, a 6-month-old Florida puppy named Chloe is “doing great,” according to the Courtenay Animal Hospital where Chloe was being treated for her injuries.

Florida Today reports that on Sept. 26, Chloe got attacked by an alligator after the puppy found her way around a neighbor’s fence, and entered territory near a local wildlife sanctuary that had been flooded since Hurricane Irma.

Chloe’s owner, Jo Ellen Kleinhenz told Florida Today that she knew something was wrong when she heard “this terrible yelping noise, just this awful, awful sound.”

On a GoFundMe page created to help pay for Chloe’s medical bills, Kleinhenz wrote that when she found Chloe, she saw that “the gator was trying to pull her deeper into swamp and she had grabbed onto a branch with her teeth to stay above water. I couldn’t reach her. The alligator released her miraculously and she swam to me.”

And although Chloe survived and was immediately rushed to the Courtenay Animal Hospital, the puppy sustained life-threatening injuries.

“She had a penetrating abdominal wound, so It think the gator had originally bitten her in the stomach and pulled her down. She had a crushing injury — penetrating wounds and broken bones — in her back left foot. And she had a few other bite wounds on her left shoulder,” Dr. Elizabeth Chosa of Courtenay Animal Hospital told Florida Today, adding that “her stomach was full of swamp water. Her lungs were full of swamp water. So I actually thought she might not survive the first 24 hours because of the near-drowning.”

Although Chloe survived, on Oct. 6, it was decided that Chloe’s back left leg had to be amputated.

“We tried really hard to save the foot that the alligator had chomped/crushed but it was not healing well and was causing her tremendous pain. So we made the difficult decision to amputate her leg on Friday,” a spokesperson for the Courtenay Animal Hospital announced on their Facebook account earlier this month.

However, the spokesperson added that “Chloe was doing great” and she was “already running around like she never had four legs!”

“She seems to feel soooo much better without that painful foot. Less than 24 hours after surgery, she was already moving around really well and learning to potty on 3 legs. The hardest thing now is keeping her quiet & still enough to finish healing!” the spokesperson wrote, adding that, “We are still working to heal her large abdominal wound & were able to use some of the skin from her leg amputation to create a partial skin graft. She did so well today that she gets to go home & not come back to see us for three whole days!!”

Kleinhenz told Florida Today, “She’s such a survivor.”

Serena Williams Reveals She’s Back in Her Jean Shorts Just 2 Weeks After Giving Birth

Serena Williams just gave birth to her baby girl two weeks ago, but she’s already back in her short-shorts.

On Saturday, the tennis champion revealed she was back in her jean shorts when she captioned a mirror selfie she posted on Snapchat.

On Sept. 1, Williams, 35, gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. Alexis was named after her father — and Williams’ fiancé — Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

The couple waited almost two weeks to formally introduce their first child to the world after Williams revealed they had “a lot of complications.”

And now Alexis even has her own Instagram account: @OlympiaOhanian.

So far the newborn (or rather, her parents) has only posted two pictures.

One where she’s snoozing in a yellow onesie as she’s “thinking about mommy and daddy” and a second where she’s wearing a onesie that reads “smart and strong like my mama.”

PEOPLE confirmed Williams’ pregnancy in April after the 35-year-old inadvertently revealed on Snapchat that she was 20 weeks along. Williams and Ohanian, 34, got engaged in December.

Ahead of their daughter’s birth, the couple revealed that they were opting to leave the baby’s sex a surprise, though both shared that they felt they were having a girl.

Charlize Theron Says She’s Enjoyed Gaining Weight for Film Roles: ‘Heaven Would Be Just Potato Chips’

When Charlize Theron has had to put on weight for a movie role, she’s tried to make the most of it.

The actress, 41, transformed her body for her Oscar-winning role in Monster, gaining weight to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos, and more recently, she reportedly put on 35 lbs. to play a mom with three kids in the new comedy-drama Tully, which filmed last year.

Theron opened up about the experience on Sirius XM’s Howard Stern Show on Wednesday.

“Every time I’ve had to do it, I have thoroughly enjoyed it,” she said. “Walking into a place with food and not having any restrictions. No thinking, “this is not good for me.’ It’s a f—– free for all. It’s amazing.”

Some of Theron’s foods of choice? “I love pasta and bread and potato chips. Heaven would be just potato chips for me,” she said.

Although the star has admitted that gaining weight for a role is more difficult now that she’s in her forties.

“It was brutal in every sense,” Theron told Variety of putting on weight for Tully. “This time around, I really felt it in my health. The sugar put me in a massive depression. I was sick. I couldn’t lose the weight. I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying!’ And he’s like, ‘No, you’re 41. Calm down.’ ”

Now, Theron, whose new movie, Atomic Blonde is out July 21, is back to her healthy habits.

“ I’ll have a V8. I’ll have three V8s. I love me a V8. I love tomato juice,” she said during  her Howard Stern interview. “That’s also because I’m making two lunch boxes and trying to get two kids ready. I can’t … I can only do … I have to feed them!”

Tamra Judge on Final Straws with RHOC Frenemy Vicki Gunvalson: ‘She’s Done Too Much Damage to Me’

The possibility that Real Housewives of Orange County costars Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson will make amends seems more unlikely than ever.

“She’s done too much damage to me,” Judge, 49, told PEOPLE Now on Monday. “Personally, she has no boundaries and so that’s where you’re like, ‘Is that the kind of friend I want?’ ”

Gunvalson, 55, concluded last season on the outs with the other women of the O.C., with longtime on-again/off-again bestie Judge reaching her breaking point when rumors began to swirl about her husband Eddie’s sexuality.

“For everything that I’ve gone through, you know, my marriage is so sacred to me,” said Judge, 49. “For Vicki to insult my marriage like that like it’s a fraud, that’s what hurt me.”

Beyond her personal grievances with Gunvaslon, Judge takes the rumors in stride, noting her husband is a “hot guy, someone says he’s gay — happens all the time!”

“Our relationship is really easy,” she said. “We’re great friends, we’re great lovers … we just have fun together.”

Judge — whose tagline for the new season is: “I’m pint-sized, baptized and highly prized” — said she made an effort to fix things between with Gunvalson, but that it’s a challenge to get along with her.

“I tried my hardest, I really did,” she said. “You can make fun of my outfit or call me ugly, whatever, but you don’t go that low.”

Season 12 of RHOC sees the return of Lydia McLaughlin, the absence of Heather Dubrow and the addition of newbie Peggy SulahianShannon Beador, Kelly Dodd and Meghan King Edmonds return with Judge and Gunvalson.

The Real Housewives of Orange County premieres Monday at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.

The New York City Ballet principal dancer, 25, started ballet at age 10, and has for years started almost every day with the same routine: plié, tendu, port de bras. Left hand on the bar, then right. At this point, the days on which she’s gone to ballet class vastly outnumber the ones on which she hasn’t. But today, she’s teaching ballet class, something she’s only done a couple of times in her life, and she’s nervous.

So are the kids waiting outside the studio. Out in the lobby of The Washington School of Ballet, some 30 girls aged 8, 9 and 10 in leotards and pink tights (and one boy in a white t-shirt and black tights) are stretching and jumping and spritzing last-minute hairspray on their sleek high buns. They were nervous last night, too, at the meet-and-greet that followed Lovette’s performance at The Kennedy Center on June 10. After watching Lovette sparkle and spin to the strains of George Gershwin’sRhapsody in Blue,” a dozen baby ballerinas stood with their parents under the giant bronze head of former President John F. Kennedy, waiting for Lovette to materialize from backstage. “I hope I don’t say something stupid in front of her,” one girl fretted to her mother, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. “What if I say something stupid?”

The young dancers in the lobby don’t know, and probably wouldn’t care, that Lovette has barely taught ballet before; they’re here to spend a few hours learning from — and hopefully impressing — their idol. Lovette doesn’t hesitate to tell them the truth, though. After they’ve all taken their places at the barres that line and dissect the large, bright studio, as they’re all looking at her expectantly, anxiously, she says, “I haven’t really done this before. So it could go really wrong. But I think it’s going to be OK.”

And so it is. The class proceeds without incident. For 90 minutes, she puts the ballet students through their paces, correcting their arm placement (“No chicken arms,” she warns, when outstretched elbows begin to droop) and urging them to remember that even their standard, repetitive daily exercises are, in fact, dancing, and should be performed, not simply completed.

At one point, she’s talking the students through the port de bras arm-stretching exercise she’s set for them; it’s a languorous, luxurious reach toward the barre, and then away from it. The second part requires taking their supporting hand off the barre and floating it over their heads, bending sideways at the waist as far as they can. “Don’t be afraid to fall over,” Lovette says, stretching her head far past the midline of her body. “What’s the worst that can happen, you fall on the floor?”

The girls around her giggle, but Lovette is serious. As it turns out, her little pre-class warning is something of a motto for her. “It could go really wrong, but I think it’s going to be OK” is the kind of thing you could see her stitching onto a throw pillow. (She loves crafting, she tells the students in a post-class Q&A session.) The same goes for what she tells the students about the port de bras, a phrase she’ll repeat several times throughout the class: “Be brave.”

Jessica Wallis, the executive director of Ballet in the City, which organized the weekend of masterclasses, said she wanted to work with Lovette because she is a positive role model for young dancers. Wallis particularly admires how Lovette uses social media ― one major way in which dancers across the country get to “know” their favorite ballet stars. “Dancers feel compelled to put themselves out there and a lot of it is all about me and how great I am,” Wallis told HuffPost. “Every day it’s another image of them with an arabesque and whatever. But when Lauren shares herself on social media it’s very much her thoughts about her self as a dancer, as a person, as member of society, and that translates on stage and in her teaching.”

Lovette grew up 40 miles outside of Los Angeles, the daughter of a conservative Christian pastor; she and her three siblings were all home-schooled. One day, when she was 10, Lovette was visiting the dance-wear store owned by her aunt when the owner of a local dance school saw her playing around among the leotards and wrap skirts. Kim Maselli, the Artistic Director of the nearby California Dance Theatre, noticed Lovette’s feet, and suspected the young girl might have the right body, or at least the right feet, for ballet. She offered Lovette a week of classes for free. Then a month, then a year, and on it went, until Lovette was 14 years old and moving away to Manhattan to board and take intensive classes at the School of American Ballet, the feeder school for New York City Ballet.

“It was a gift,” Lovette says of Maselli’s offer. “I owe her a lot.”

For Lovette, who was a shy and self-conscious child, the prospect of performing in tights and a leotard, of being lifted in the air, of failing in front of people, was daunting. Her family was tightknit and nurturing, and she was encouraged to play outside and use her imagination ― a necessity in a family with little money that largely shunned television ― but Lovette was an anxious kid. “I was afraid of the water, I was afraid of heights, I was afraid of any game I didn’t know how to play, afraid I would be bad at it,” she recalls.

She’d skip pool parties, because she was afraid of swimming. She’d miss out on sleepovers because she was afraid of being around so many kids. “Taking my first ballet class was the first really brave thing I did. I didn’t know what I was doing and everybody else did, and I felt very overwhelmed,” Lovette recalls.

But she felt a desire to push through it, because she knew that her teachers saw potential. When she was one of the few people in the nation selected for the School of American Ballet, she was terrified. “I was going to move away from my family, I never went to school in my life, and now I was going to live in New York City with all these other kids and go to a boarding school?” It was, she says, “this really big moment when I knew I had to brave.”

Lovette says she gets her outlook on life — the imperative to seize opportunities, to better herself continuously — from her father, who was an avid reader of self-help books when she was a child. “He’d read them to us, and I started reading books like that around 14, and one of the things I read was that you should do something scary every day.”

The tone of her Instagram feed, which Wallis praised, has noticeable “self-help” feel. A post this month about deciding to start running again reads, “Sometimes you don’t feel like it… Sometimes you are sore, tired, uninspired, or any number of different excuses. The only way to silence that negative pattern is to look your mountain square on and shout the time is now! Then start climbing.” It’s accompanied by a photo of a grinning Lovette in a black bra and panties and pink pointe shoes, hair down and flying around her as she leaps in the air.

When Lovette left home to study ballet full-time, she made a personal rule for herself: whenever there was a sign-up sheet, no matter what it was for, no matter if she thought she stood a chance of being picked, she’d put her name on it. “Even if you didn’t know if you could do it, just go for it, and kind of leave it up to the universe,” she says. “So I forced myself to sign up for things.”

That was how she ended up emceeing a school fashion show, even though she was scared of public speaking. And it’s how she ended up choreographing for the first time.

In the post-class Q&A, she tells the class that she’d never really intended to choreograph; she’d just followed the rule and put her name on a sign-up sheet once, as a student at the School of American Ballet. To her surprise, she was chosen to make a piece for her classmates.

Certain she was going to fail, she went to the school principal and explained that she wanted to bow out. But the principal told her that she’d made a commitment, and she had to follow through on it. She had to pick her dancers last, and was left with a group of people she didn’t think she could work with.

“I had this random group of dancers of all different heights,” she recalls, but they ended up having fun together. Now, she’s once again choreographing on her peers, but her peers aren’t students anymore: they’re dancers in one of the highest profile ballet companies on the planet.

The dearth of women choreographers in ballet is a longstanding problem, and ballet companies’ failure to solve it has drawn complaints in recent years.

In the 2016 spring season, in major companies in the US and around the world, works by women were a tiny fraction of the dances permitted on stage. But when people in the ballet world argue that the overrepresentation of men is waning, they often point to New York City Ballet’s 2016 fall season, which featured works by two women choreographers. Lovette was one of them; her first ballet “For Clara,” made on City Ballet dancers, premiered at Lincoln Center. The New York Times dance critic was unimpressed, calling the staging “cluttered,” the partnering “sexist,” the music unsuitable for dancing and concluding that Lovette’s work “showed talent without looking ready for presentation by one of the world’s foremost companies.” Still, she’ll premiere her second ballet at the company’s high-profile fall gala later this year.

The stakes are high when Lovette choreographs. There are lots of eyes on her, and she’s been unwillingly turned into something of a poster child, or at least, one of the few data points in the case that things really are getting better. “It’s a lot of pressure,” she says. Making “For Clara” was especially hard, because she hadn’t choreographed since her school days.

“Not only did I have to choreograph after not practicing for six years, I had to make it on the big stage, with lights and costumes and everything, stuff that I hadn’t been practicing,” Lovette explains.

The critics were watching, and so was the Ballet Master in Chief, Peter Martins, who decides which ballets the company performs. “I tried to ignore it as much as I could and just get the job done, but now looking at it I feel like it is a lot of pressure,” she says. Lovette’s cheered, though, to see more young women expressing interest in choreographing. “It’s hard, and it shouldn’t be that way. I don’t think it’s going to be like that forever.”

A post shared by Lauren Lovette (@laurenlovette) on

Wendy Whelan, who danced for City Ballet for 30 years, and whom Lovette names as a role model, has concerns about women like Lovette being thrown into the glaring spotlight with relatively little choreographic experience.

“Of course it’s wonderful to develop young female choreographers,” Whelan told HuffPost. “But I don’t know if they’re necessarily ready for making something for New York City Ballet.”

Whelan places the responsibility of fixing the gender imbalance in programming at the feet of artistic directors (Martins has indeed been a longtime supporter of Lovette’s choreographic efforts), and says that the choice to bypass more seasoned choreographers could be to the detriment of the company and the choreographers themselves ― the older ones and the newer ones. “They’re awfully young,” Whelan says of some of the women being granted a chance at ballet immortality, “and less experienced than the ones who are out there. So that’s my question: Why aren’t you bringing in ones who’ve had lots of experience already? Rather than somebody who’s making their first ballet?”

Lovette acknowledges that not all her ballets will be successful, just as not all her performances are flawless. One of the things she’s been practicing since her early teen years is “casting the line out, before you’re really ready to fish.” And sometimes, it doesn’t work out. She told the class about how, once, she fell onstage while she was dancing the role of the Sugarplum Fairy in the company’s flagship production, “The Nutcracker.” The Lincoln Center house was full; a dozen little girls in angel costumes were gathered around her, and she ate it, tearing a ligament. “But at least I went for it,” she says, as the students laugh at the image of their suddenly humanized heroine splatting onto the stage. As for choreographing, “I know I’ll fail at that too, if I keep going. You’re going to lose some fish on the line.”

She still gets scared performing, she admits. “That hasn’t gone away. And I still have shows where that gets the best of me.” Stepping into the role of Aurora, the technically gruelling lead in “Sleeping Beauty,” was frightening, and upsetting. “I remember being in tears after my first dress rehearsal,” Lovette recalls. “And really broken up about my first show [of “Sleeping Beauty”], because I watched the tape of it and I thought it was so terrible.”

Lovette finds roles that involve plenty of acting to be the most freeing, because being someone else helps with the fear. “Lauren is afraid of heights, but Juliet isn’t,” she told the class in Washington, D.C. Lauren might balk at the big lifts in the balcony scene pas de deux, but Juliet throws herself into them.

For a former anxious kid who’s now an anxious adult, flawlessness isn’t always the point: trying is. In an artform that prizes perfection, Lovette tries to remember that the victory can be in the attempt. “I feel good when I put myself out there and I make the attempt,” she says. “Because when you’re somebody who’s filled with a lot of fear and anxiety, even putting your neck out there is a success. If I turn down an opportunity because I’m afraid, that feels like more of a failure than getting a bad review or falling on stage.”

Back in the studio in D.C., Lovette tells the students that choreographing requires courage. It can be a little “unusual and uncomfortable,” not being told what the steps are ― especially for ballet dancers, who are used to following instructions to the letter. It was odd “to not be told what to do, like, uh, what do I do with my arms?” In the second half of the class, she runs some choreography exercises with the students, encouraging them to make up their own steps and instructing them teach the moves to each other. “I want you to do what the music makes you feel,” she says, “even if that’s ballet, steps you know.”

When she turns the music on, switching from one song to another after 30 or so seconds, a lot of the girls play it safe, repeating phrases of dances they clearly already know. “This is not being graded,” Lovette reminds them. “I want you guys to practice being brave.”

It’s something she’s been practicing since she took Maselli up on the offer of a free ballet class at age 11, but she admits that her bravery is still very much a work in progress. “I don’t know if you ever really know when you get brave,” she explains. And while she’s still afraid of heights, and still nervous about teaching a ballet class, she’s no longer afraid of falling in class, or on stage. “I get over falling very easily now,” she says. “I’m like, that’s OK: I went for it.”

Tattooed Mom Shuts Down Suggestion That She’s Not The Motherhood ‘Type’

A U.K. mom’s viral Facebook post is dispelling the notion that mothers have to conform to a specific image.

Blogger Gylisa Jayne of Cornwall shared a photo of herself with her almost 2-year-old daughter, Lily. In the caption, she offered some powerful thoughts about what motherhood really means.

“Someone said to me a few days ago, that she hadn’t thought I was the type ‘to be a Mum,’ Jayne wrote, adding that she initially shrugged the comment off. However, the woman’s words bothered her days later.

“It’s one of those common phrases, we label ‘Mother’ and have a stereotype in our heads,” she said, noting that this label comes with standards beyond simply caring for your child. Jayne wrote:

Mothers are meant to sacrifice every aspect of themselves, to fulfill their role.

Mothers aren’t allowed expensive bags, or shopping trips out, or to have a fresh manicure every few weeks.

Mothers aren’t meant to have tattoos, or coloured hair or piercings.

Mothers aren’t supposed to have histories of being reckless, feckless or just plain fun.

Mothers aren’t meant to have had a colourful life of experiences before they bear children, they are expected to forget their identity to raise someone else.

However, the blogger highlighted the value of “experiencing a bit of life” before becoming a parent. “Without navigating my own chequered past how could I possibly hope to guide a new soul through similar times?” she asked.

Ultimately, Jayne explained that motherhood is not an “exclusive club” requiring all members to look or act a certain way.

Instead, she said the motherhood community is filled with women from countless different backgrounds who take different approaches to parenting.

“So I might not fit someone else’s expectations of how I should be, but my daughter reckons I’m doing a pretty good job,” she concluded.

Jayne told HuffPost the comment that prompted her to write the post came from an old friend she hadn’t seen in awhile but that it was representative of comments and looks she’s gotten from people in the past.

While many “alternative” moms reacted positively to the post’s message that looks and experiences don’t define a mother, some more traditional or “stereotypical” mom figures said they couldn’t relate as much, Jayne noted.

The blogger told HuffPost she believes many dads deal with unfair labels too, as fathers are often thought of as helpless bumbling fools.

Jayne said she mainly wants mothers who read her post to know that you don’t have to lose any part of yourself to become a “good” mom.

“There isn’t a one size fits all to motherhood, quite the opposite ― everything that we experience in life, and the way we express ourselves are paramount to helping raise another individual,” she told HuffPost. “That’s what we want isn’t it? More individuals, instead of everyone being the same. It’s something to embrace. And something to love.”

By their May 3 game against the St. Louis Blues, the Preds were “on fire,” she wrote

She kept her tee on for a May 7 performance with Luke Bryan, too

Her son Isaiah, 2, joined in the fun for the Preds’ May 7 win against the Blues

Good luck? On May 16, her song “The Fighter” was played during a game against the Anaheim Ducks

Another game, another great hat

Similarly another game, another great mani

The super-supportive wife was “Ready” for the Preds’ May 22 game against the Ducks, which her team won, sending Nashville to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time ever

It helps to have support!

And she was elated to watch the guys accept the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl

When traveling, Underwood is sure to bring one essential: that ‘Smash’ hat

I’ll never forget the day he told me he was asked to wear the “C.” I was so proud on that day and I’m even more proud now to see him play in the #StanleyCupFinals He’s definitely the only FISH in the “C” for me!”

Yes, it was just days before the CMT Music Awards, but she was happy to be out celebrating

With her sisters-in-law and mother-in-law at the last game in Nashville

We can’t wait to see how crazy Carrie goes tonight! Catch the game on NBC.

One honeymoon location just isn’t enough for Pippa Middleton and her new husband, James Matthews.

The two jetted off to Tetiaroa, French Polynesia ― one of Obama’s recent vacation spots ― after their wedding last weekend. Apparently they’ve had their fill of South Pacific sun, as Middleton and Matthews were recently spotted in Sydney, Australia.

On Wednesday, Middleton and her hubby climbed the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge at night. The bridge offers 360-degree views of Sydney and stands about 440 feet in the air.

The night climb costs around $ 253 – $ 388 for adults and can take up to 3.5 hours to complete.

The couple is staying at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Sydney, which offers views of the Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Opera House, according to a press release.

So far, they’ve explored the city by way of a water taxi and a sea plane. The two recently flew a seaplane to lunch at the Cottage Point Inn, which looks like a cute spot for the newlyweds:

Lena Dunham In ‘Greatest Amount of Physical Pain’ She’s Ever Experienced

Healing takes time, so Lena Dunham is taking some time off.

On Friday, the “Girls” creator announced that she is canceling the upcoming “Lenny Letter: America IRL” tour due to her battle with endometriosis by way of a candid letter to her readers on the newsletter’s website.

“To be perfectly honest, Im in the greatest amount of physical pain that I have ever experienced. After being told I was endometriosis-free after my last procedure, more disease was found in deeper spots that required immediate surgery and now physical therapy,” she wrote. “This disease is wily and unrelenting, and Im really blessed to have a community, both online and IRL, who let me express how hard that is. Inspired by you, Im gonna say ‘Eff you’ to embarrassment and walk the walk of a woman who really takes care of herself. My goals have to be simplified for this moment: to write and to heal.”

Met ready

A post shared by Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) on

In recent weeks, Dunham has been sidelined because of the chronic and painful disorder after she was rushed to the emergency room following a red carpet appearance at the Met Gala. The actress experienced complications from a recent surgery, which she hoped at the time would alleviate her discomfort. After a four-day hospital stay, Dunham returned home and has been resting ever since.

The “Lenny Letter: America IRL” was set to bring Dunham and her fellow newsletter contributors, like Sasheer Zamata of “Saturday Night Live,” to audiences across the country with a six-city tour starting on May 31. In light of the cancellation, Dunham promised that tickets will be refunded and the tour will happen one day once her “uterus has taken a chill pill.”

“In the meantime, I encourage you all to gather your girls for evenings of dissent and laughter and wine and analysis and bingeing of ‘Fleabag’ and ‘Chewing Gum,’” Dunham added. “Holding each other close and giving of ourselves is the most radical thing we can do right now.”

Drake Rep Slams Former Porn Star’s Paternity Accusation: ‘She’s Just Another Woman Claiming He Got Them Pregnant’

Drake is hitting back at accusations from former porn star Sophie Brussaux, who claims she is pregnant with his child.

Brussaux—who was spotted with the rapper, 30, in January following his split from Jennifer Lopez—has hired two major New York City attorneys to begin the proceedings to prove paternity and seek child support, TMZ reports.

The site says Brussaux claims she is three and-a-half months pregnant, and believes the conception occurred at the end of January. A photo of the pair together in Amsterdam was taken on Jan. 24.

“If it’s in fact Drake’s child, which he does not believe it is, he will do right by the child,” Drake’s rep tells PEOPLE. “She’s just another woman in a long line of women claiming he got them pregnant.”

FROM COINAGE: What Is the Grammy Bounce? (No, It’s Not a Dance Move)

Brussaux also claims to have texts, purportedly from Drake, urging her to undergo an abortion. A rep for Drake tells PEOPLE that they have not seen the message and cannot comment on its veracity.

Brussaux didn’t immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Ex-Lawmaker Says Katy Perry Is ‘Ruled By Satan’ Because She’s Kissed A Girl

Katy Perry delivered a powerful speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual gala in Los Angeles last month, where she opened up about her sexuality and recalled her early years in a conservative Christian environment in which “homosexuality was synonymous with the word abomination.”

Picking up HRC’s National Equality Award, the singer nodded to the real-life experience that inspired one of her biggest hits, noting, “I kissed a girl and I liked it. Truth be told, I did more than that.” At first, she attempted to “pray the gay away at my Jesus camps,” but eventually discovered that the LGBTQ community was made up of “the most free, strong, kind and inclusive people I have ever met.”

Perry’s candid remarks have drawn national praise, but one former Colorado legislator believes the singer’s speech is evidence that she is “ruled by Satan.”

Gordon Klingenschmitt, who was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2014 but failed in his state Senate bid last year, blasted Perry on the April 9 installment of his “Pray In Jesus Name” radio program, Right Wing Watch reported

“You don’t just need more of your Jesus camps, more of the Bible, more of what your parents told you,” Klingenschmitt said on his program, a clip of which can be viewed above. “You need to get the devil out of you.” He then offered a prayer for Perry, noting, “We pray that she will be saved, that she will be born again, that she will repent of her sin and stop promoting sin to young people.”

As far as anti-LGBTQ statements are concerned, however, Klingenschmitt is a repeat offender. In December, he cited an inclusive Zales Jewelers holiday commercial as evidence of a “demonic spirit” who had inhabited the advertising executives who had created the ad.

He also blasted the Boy Scouts of America for “thumbing their nose at God” in 2015 for promoting “homosexual men to mentoring and camping with your boys” after the scouting organization lifted a controversial ban on openly gay adult participants

Was Perry’s speech really worthy of this brouhaha? Watch an excerpt below and decide for yourself.

Queen Latifah On How She’s Used Her Success To Lift Up Other Women

NEW YORK ― Queen Latifah is all about using her success to lend a helping hand to women and minorities in the entertainment business.

The musician and actress discussed the need for diversity in entertainment and advertising during a panel for Tina Brown’s Women in the World Summit on Thursday afternoon. Latfiah was joined by moderator Katie Couric, advertising executive Madonna Badger, Chief Brand Officer of AT&T Fiona Carter and Chief Brand Officer for P&G Marc Pritchard.

After breaking through as a rap artist, Latifah said she began to realize the stark sexism so many women face in the music industry.

“When you get to a record company and you realize that you’re not getting the same marketing dollars as your male counterparts in the same business — you’re already fighting,” she said. “You’re fighting, number one, to be a female rapper. You’re fighting to get the same dollars and marketing that your male counterparts would get, an uphill battle. I was always fighting from the beginning, so getting in a comfortable position to fight was no big deal — let’s go, who want it?”

Once Latifah got into a position of power, she realized she needed to represent the underserved communities she used to be a part of. This time, it was through her influence as an executive producer.

“I could make a movie like Beauty Shop, that shows a woman just trying to become a successful beautician against all odds and employ other people,” she said. “Each one of these things is an opportunity to make change, and it doesn’t have to be huge but each little step and choosing to show that image of a woman trying to make it with a young child and being able to go against all odds and be able to pull it off, those are the women I know and their story needs to be told.”

Toward the end of the panel, Latifah asked the audience to also remember our young boys when it comes to fighting sexism across industries.

“We have to think about our young men and we have to think about some of the pressures we’re putting on them,” she said. “It is about women and the power that we have and what we deserve, but we also have to think about the images we’re putting out there for our young men. And some of our grown men are apparently still boys and they need to get the proper re-education about how to look at women.”

Mom Of Boys Has Epic Reaction To Learning She’s Having A Girl

A Kansas City mom is going viral because of her strong reaction to learning the sex of her unborn baby.

On Sunday, blogger Egreis Gjergjani posted a video from her “gender reveal” party on Instagram. Egreis and her husband Jeremy ― who have two sons, ages 1 and 3 ― cut into a cake and found that the frosting was pink for a baby girl.

As the video shows, the expectant mom was floored … literally.

And I'll end up as a meme somewhere. Fml! We're having a GIRL!!!!!

A video posted by Egreis Gjergjani (@thestilettomeup) on

Egreis’ Instagram video has been viewed nearly 700,000 times.

She told The Huffington Post she and her husband weren’t planning to have any more children after their “two amazing sons,” and this third pregnancy was a total surprise.

“Since I’ve had two boys so far, I genuinely did not think I would have a girl,” the mom said. “I even started a children’s couture line, Itty Bitty Toes, that specializes in handmade dresses for little girls. It was my way of experiencing what having a little girl would be like.”

It's official!!!! Egi is having a GIRL #girl #suchasurprise #soexcited #thanksforthecakemom

Learning that she would soon have a “mini me” to dress in her designs was “an unbelievable feeling,”  she added.

Egreis posted two other videos from the party. One shows the moment before the big reveal and the other shows a prank her friend played on her. Egreis and her husband thought they were going to learn the sex of their baby with a balloon reveal, but it turns out the balloons were pink and blue.

“My best friend is evil lol,” the mom wrote in the video caption.

A video posted by Egreis Gjergjani (@thestilettomeup) on

Egreis, who is originally from Albania, is due in June. She said she’s been touched by the kind comments from strangers who watched her big reveal video.

“So many of them have shared tears of joy with me,” she said. “That’s the beauty of humanity. To be able to relate to another human being, without ever knowing them, simply because you can feel the happiness through a video.”

Egreis has enjoyed re-watching the video and looking at her son George’s reaction. “He knows mommy is having a baby but had no idea really what was going on,” she explained. “He just thought we were celebrating something with cake … I laugh when I see George’s face the entire time. He’s just so confused, wondering what is wrong with the cake!”

Ultimately, Egreis says the source of her joy is simple “To be able to carry a child is a blessing, she said, adding, “That initial discovery of your child’s gender is an amazing feeling. It doesn’t matter if it is boy or girl, just that initial moment of knowing what you’re going to have makes it all so real.”

Girl Scout Writes Hilariously Honest Reviews For Cookies She’s Selling

Sixth-grader Charlotte McCourt is nothing if not an honest saleswoman.

While selling Girl Scout cookies, the 11-year-old from South Orange, New Jersey emailed some hilariously honest “reviews” of the products to one of her potential buyers. Charlotte’s dad, Sean McCourt, shared the email with television personality Mike Rowe, whose podcast he produces.

Rowe loved the little girl’s brutal honesty and read the letter out loud for his fans on Facebook.

As Rowe explains in the video, the letter came about after Sean mentioned to Charlotte that his best friend from high school is “very rich.” The enterprising little girl took it upon herself to email the friend to ask if he’d like to buy some cookies or donate a few boxes to men and women serving in the military.

In her pitch, Charlotte noted that she feels the Girl Scouts organization sometimes use “false advertising” to sell cookies. For the sake of being honest with her clients, she reviewed each type of cookie and assigned ratings on a scale of one to 10.

Though Charlotte praised the “inspired” flavor combination in Thin Mints and the Savannah Smiles “divine taste,” she dismissed Do-si-dos for their “unoriginality” and “blandness” and said Trefoils were “kind of boring.”

In her most scathing review, she wrote that the Toffee-tastic “is a bleak, flavorless gluten-free wasteland. I’m telling you, it is flavorless as dirt.”

Still, the little girl cautioned, “These ratings are only my opinion. Yours may vary.”

Rowe shared a link to Charlotte’s cookie-selling website with his video, which reached over eight million views.

Following Rowe’s shout-out, Charlotte’s sales skyrocketed, and she quickly surpassed her goal to sell 300 boxes. As of Jan. 27, she’d sold over 11,000.

She sent Rowe a video message updating him on her progress and thanking him and everyone who bought cookies.

As Charlotte noted in her initial email, she’s a member of Troop 22918, “a minuscule but mighty troop of five people.”

With cookie sales like those, “mighty” is certainly accurate.

Isla Fisher Says She’s Not Working with a Stylist: ‘Sometimes You Just Pull a Dress’

Isla Fisher is “going rogue” without a stylist these days.

During a night out at the 6th Annual AACTA International Awards at the Avalon Hollywood in Hollywood, California, on Friday night, Fisher revealed to reporters that her bright yellow Monique Lhuillier gown on Friday night was all her idea.

“I’m not working with a stylist right now. So I chose it myself,” she told PEOPLE.

“I think stylists are wonderful,” she continued. “When things come up at the last minute and you’re in a rush, sometimes you just pull a dress. I’ve got a lot of responsibilities, and my career is just a part of a whole big puzzle.”

And Fisher says there are definitely pros and cons to what she calls “going rogue” on the red carpet.

“My stylists in the past have been wonderful and reminded me whether or not to cross your legs, whether to put a hand on your hip,” she said. “But of course, whatever great advice you get, to hoist your dress up, or to maneuver your lady parts into them, more prominent position.

“But whatever you’re told, obviously in the moments pre-the ceremony, when you get out of the car and there’s a line of photographers shouting your name, you just tend to go rogue and do absolutely anything and then look back and regret it.”

As for her daughters’ thoughts on her selection?

“I think the quote was, ‘Mommy you look like a banana tonight.’ I mean, I’ll take anything.”

Fisher isn’t the only celebrity picking out her own looks. Blake Lively also famously does not need help styling herself.

“I’ve always loved fashion,’ she told the UK edition of Marie Claire in its October 2010 issue. “That’s why I don’t use a stylist. Number one, it’s such an expression of self.”

Gigi Hadid Wants You to Know She’s Not Perfect

NEW YORK — Two days after Gigi Hadid appeared in the televised broadcast of the annual celebration of lingerie-clad, other-worldly physiques known as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (Hadid is not a contracted Angel for the brand though she did walk the runway in wings), she was in more down-to-earth garb — ponytail, gym clothes — here on Wednesday to talk about her imperfections.
“Screaming into pillows is good,” said Hadid on the topic of how she handles nerves, anxiety and social media hate. In October, Reebok named Hadid the new face of its #PerfectNever campaign, which it introduced in July with Ronda Rousey as a subset of its massive “Be More Human” push launched last year.
Jumping from Rousey to Hadid might seem like a leap, but Reebok has made a play for combat sports as its athletic niche. Rousey is a UFC champion. Hadid, who played volleyball growing up, has publicized her preference for boxing as a workout.
As the hashtag suggests, the concept plays to the old adage that nobody’s perfect and that’s a good thing. If Hadid, one of the most successful fashion models working today, seems an unlikely pitchwoman for imperfection, Reebok is banking on the power of her

Face Transplant Recipient Patrick Hardison Gets Kiss from His Donor’s Mother in Tear-Filled First Meeting: ‘It’s Like She’s Family’

Earlier this month, Patrick Hardison came face-to-face with the woman who gave him a second chance at life.

Hardison, a volunteer firefighter, suffered severe burns that badly disfigured his face during a 2001 search and rescue mission through a blazing house fire. Last year, he underwent the first extensive face transplant after David Rodebaugh, a 26-year-old Brooklyn bike mechanic and BMX racer, died after sustaining brain trauma in a cycling accident. Rodebaugh’s mother, Nancy Millar, made the difficult decision to donate her son’s organs — including his face — and changed Hardison’s life forever.

On Nov. 7, Hardison got to thank Millar in person for the first time in New York City during a very emotional meeting. PEOPLE was there to capture the special moment and speak to both Nancy and Patrick, now friends who will be connected forever.

A Mother’s Grief

“David was the sweetest, nicest, funnest guy — I mean, just always having fun,” says Millar, about her son, David. “Sunshine; always happy.”

Sadly, their lives were tragically turned upside down when, on August 2015, as Rodebaugh was riding his bike home from work, a pedestrian walked out in front of him. Swerving to avoid the collision, he flew off his bike and landed on his head. On Aug. 12, Rodebaugh was pronounced brain-dead, and his mother had what for most would have been a difficult decision to make.

But for Millar, the choice to donate David’s face (as well as his kidneys, liver and heart) came easily, and from the heart.

“Hands down, no question,” she says. “I said, ‘You better save his face. He has the face of a porcelain doll.’ And he’s a donor — we had talked about it.” ThroughLiveOnNY, an organ donation organization, Rodebaugh’s face was found to be a perfect match with Hardison’s.

A Man’s Second Chance at Life

Two days later, on Aug. 14, 2015, Dr. Eduardo D. Rodriguez — the chair of the Wyss Despartment of Plastic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York — wheeled Patrick Hardison into an operating room and, during a 26-hour surgical procedure, fitted Rodebaugh’s face to Hardison’s head.

“Patrick’s procedure included the largest amount of soft tissue that’s ever been transplanted in medicine. Not only from the front of the face but also the ears, eyelids, nose, lips, skin of the neck and hair-bearing scalp,” Dr. Rodriguez says of the risky procedure, which has only a 50 percent survival rate.

Hardison — who had lost his hair, ears, eyelids, nose and lips in the 2001 blaze —had no hesitations. By this time, his vision had started deteriorating due to complications with his eyelids, but more than that, he wanted to return to some state of normalcy, especially for his children: Alison, 22, Dalton, 19, Averi, 17, Braden, 13, and Cullen, 12.

“I had lived without a face for 14 years,” says Hardison, 42. “You get up every day of your life for 14 years hating the way you look, and you’ll do whatever it is to change — and that was what I wanted to do.”

In the 15 months since his surgery, Hardison has shown no signs of rejecting the transplant. “Everything has changed,” he says of his post surgery life. “I’m able to drive, go swimming with my kids — little things like that I haven’t been able to do for 15 years,” adds Hardison, who also enjoyed a family vacation to Disney World this summer, their first vacation since his accident.

“Now I’m just a normal guy,” says Hardison. “There’s no staring, no kids running off crying — that means everything.”

An Emotional Meeting

Face to face with recipient of her son’s face for the first time on Nov. 7, Millar had just one sweet request for Hardison.

“I said, ‘Can I kiss your forehead?’” Millar says. “That’s the one thing I wanted to do because every night before David went to bed when he was little, I kissed his forehead.”

Hardison says he wasn’t nervous about meeting Millar—more than anything, he just wanted to say thank you.

“I’ve been waiting a year to meet her. I’m just very grateful,” he says. “Without her it wouldn’t have been possible. It’s like she’s family. We connected that easily.”

Millar agrees that the two will always share a special bond — and she already senses her son’s spirit in Hardison.

“My son was my rock; he was my hero, my security, my protector. I see all of that in Patrick,” she says. “It’s almost like he’s my son, but he’s closer to my age, so he’s a brother. was like giving birth to a child. We’re gonna be friends forever.”

LiveOnNY President & CEO Helen Irving hopes their story inspires others to consider organ donation. “To see the gift that she’s been able to give through her son means a great deal to her,” Irving says of Millar. “It was really important to bring them all together so she could could come full-circle and really see the gift that David had left behind.”

For Hardison’s family, Rodebaugh and Millar’s sacrifice has literally been the gift of a lifetime.

“Dad’s been given a gift to have a second chance at life — and that’s what he’s doing,” says Hardison’s daughter, Alison. “It’s so bittersweet because you know in order to get to that point that someone else has had to lose a loved one. But in return, you get a miracle. That’s exactly what Dave was: Dave was our miracle.”

As She’s Told

As She’s Told

Winner of the 2008 National Leather Association’s, Pauline Reage Novel Award The ideal D/s relationship for Anders and Maia is nothing less than total power exchange – no games, no negotiations, no safewords. When the two stumble on to each other in an on-line chat room, the fire of their offbeat sexual desires ignites and draws them together for an explosive sexual encounter. For Maia, Anders offers the kind of firm and unyielding dominant she has only dreamed of. For Anders, his new sub is as deliciously erotic as she is submissive to his will. During the first weeks of their relationship, Anders lays down rules for his new possession, while Maia gradually hands over her autonomy, slipping into the obedience that is basic to her nature. Anders explores, manipulates and experiments on both mind and body, introducing her to spanking, anal sex, whipping, excruciating erotic teasing, and humiliating masturbation, all of which she laps up in a continuous state of terror and joy. On a very short tether, Maia has no autonomy whatsoever inside his house. When working she wears a tightly locked harness beneath her clothes, while in the evening, she’s ordered to strip down to her bondage gear, and kneel at the door in anticipation of her master’s return. When Maia fails in her submissive efforts she’s punished with suspension bondage and severe whipping, while other failings lead to lengthy sessions of forced orgasm and electro stimulation. In the coming months, Maia is shared with other men and forced to submit to Anders lesbian friend Val. When Anders and his kinky friends rent a farm for the summer, Maia is reduced to a beast of burden. When not harnessed or chained in the stable, she is treated like a dog, like furniture, or as a handy sexual appliance, used for erotic entertainment by the entire house. This beautifully written story depicts a master/slave relationship that is extreme, loving, creative, steeped in imagination, but embedded in the real world. In this pas

The Many Beauty Secrets of Melania Trump (Spoiler: She’s ‘Against Botox’)

In case you didn’t know, Melania Trump is the most beautiful woman in the world. Well, at least according to her husband, presidential hopeful Donald Trump. But being that gorgeous and living up to The Donald’s exacting taste in women isn’t something that just happens, it’s something that must be carefully cultivated and maintained. So when GQ was granted an intimate, all-access interview with the designer and former model in which she reveals a handful of her beauty secrets, we sat up and took note.

Melania Trump Beauty Secrets GQKristina Bumphrey/Starpix/REX/Shutterstock

And Melania dished out the helpful info right from the get-go, starting with her headshot that accompanies the piece. How does she get that inner glow? A diet consisting entirely of diamonds, of course:

Just be warned, you might not want to try this one unless you also happen to be married to a real estate tycoon.

As for her outward glow, you can save your skin from the ravages of aging by skipping out on late night affairs:

“She is a homebody. She’s rich, but not a socialite; she prefers family to the It set and retires early after events.”

RELATED PHOTOS: The Presidential Candidates’ Kids are Having Kids! Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump’s Pregnancy Style

Putting on a full face of makeup every day is a duty, not a privilege:

“At an age when her classmates were pimply, casual high schoolers, Melania was always perfectly made up, recalls Sedej. Foundation, mascara, blush, lip gloss, all in just the right, subtle amount. ‘Even in summertime,’ she says, ‘she was always perfect, every day.’”

She also does a light workout daily (surely with bronzer and lashes fully intact) and even finds time to eat a piece of fruit or two between all those diamonds:

“In New York, Melania lived a quiet, homebound life, taking assiduous care of her body: walks with ankle weights, seven pieces of fruit every day, diligently moisturizing her skin.”

But really, at the end of the day, there’s just no substitute for good genes, not even Botox:

“Again, Melania scoffs when I ask if she had had a breast augmentation. “I didn’t make any changes,” she says. ‘A lot of people say I am using all the procedures for my face. I didn’t do anything. I live a healthy life, I take care of my skin and my body. I’m against Botox, I’m against injections; I think it’s damaging your face, damaging your nerves. It’s all me. I will age gracefully, as my mom does.’”

What do you think of all of Melania’s beauty secrets? Sound off below!

In defining your own personal style, it helps to look up to fashionable celebs for inspiration. So, when it came time for Caitlyn Jenner to choose her own style beacon, she honed in on the classic, elegant and perfectly put-together style of Angelina Jolie.

On last night’s episode of I Am Cait, Jenner said she wanted to connect with a Hollywood stylist who’s worked with Angie in hopes of achieving the same sophisticated look as the A-lister. And, spoiler alert, her dreams came true!

“The bottom line is, I really need a professional to coordinate everything. [Jen Rade] does Angelina Jolie and I just love her look. Very casual, very elegant, chic, so I’m dying to meet her,” she said. Rade was responsible for the stunning white Atelier Versace Jenner wore to this summer’s ESPYs, revealing that the dress was custom-finished to be perfection on (tailors even came from New York and Milan to help with last-minute alterations).

“We wanted to do something classic, chic, and sophisticated. I just wanted it to be about her and not let anything take away from that,” Rade said. The dress certainly accomplished all of that, and even won Jenner some comparisons to her style icon. Red carpet watchers spotted similarities between the white gown and one Jolie picked for the 2010 premiere of The Tourist.

A Simple Way To Know When It’s OK To Ask A Woman If She’s Pregnant

Mom Carrie Saum was fed up with people assuming her “squishy” belly was a “baby bump,” so she made a helpful video and flowchart to let people know when it’s OK to ask a woman if she’s pregnant.

According to Saum, there are only two scenarios when it’s appropriate: If she tells you she’s pregnant and you respond, “Really? What? You’re pregnant?” or if you’re in the room where she is giving birth and see the baby crowning or witness the C-section taking place.

“The bottom line here is that women’s bodies are not your business,” the mom explains, adding, “If a woman wants you to know, she’ll tell you.”

Victoria Beckham Reveals the Spice Girl Outfit She’s Never Wearing Again

There’s no denying that today’s Victoria Beckham is one very, very stylish lady. But the VB of days gone by? Not necessarily. When the designer was known as the Spice Girls‘ Posh, she had plenty of outfits she’d likely cringe at now, including one that she won’t be bringing in as design inspiration any time soon.

victoria-beckham-cfdas-2015

“I’m not sure that any of my particular looks from the ’90s will be inspiring. They will probably be horrifying [to] most of my team,” she told WWD. “I wouldn’t say my PVC catsuits would be reappearing, put it that way.”

There won’t be any reason to figure out what reformed Posh would wear today either, as Beckham squashes the forever-ongoing rumors of a reunion (sad!).

“I really support [them] in everything they do, and they’re so supportive of what I’m doing, but I couldn’t possibly do that,” she said of getting the band back together. “It was great when we did the Olympics, but I won’t be doing that anymore.”

He loves photography and art, so for him when he does the occasional shoot, it’s more than just him having his picture taken.”

The Rock Makes Toddler Believe She’s The Strongest Little Lady Ever, And It Will Make You Melt

Here’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, making us swoon — as per usual.

This past Wednesday, the wrestler-turned-actor shared a short clip on Instagram of a 2-year-old named “Kai” visiting the set of his upcoming movie, “Central Intelligence.” Kai wants to move an airplane all by herself and The Rock — being the awesome guy that he is– pulls it for her while letting her believe she did it on her own.

Story continues below.

Watch as Kai holds on to a rope attached to the plane while Johnson does the grunt work exclaiming, “You’re so strong! Oh my gosh, you’re pulling an airplane!”

After seeing him completely own a “Shake It Off” lip sync and be pretty-much-perfect with fans, we didn’t think it was possible for The Rock to win us over anymore. Wrong again!

I’ll Have What She’s Having

Over the course of I’ll Have What She’s Having, Ms. Harrington eats like 14 different celebrities, both dead and alive. Among them:Madonna, Jackie Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Karl Lagerfeld, Dolly Parton, and the GOOP goddess herself, Gwyneth Paltrow . . . The writingthough not the foodis delectable. Bari Weiss, The Wall Street Journal Novelist Harrington ( Penelope ) undertakes a hilariously ill-advised experiment in celebrity diets ranging from Beyonc’s master cleanse lemonade with cayenne pepper and maple syrup to Karl Lagerfeld’s guzzling reliance on Diet Coke… While the content is mostly lighthearted and humorous, there is a palpable undercurrent of sharp feminist commentary. — Publisher’s Weekly Fandom through weight loss well, why not? You’ll laugh out loud at the author’s attempts to follow the sometimes excellent, sometimes stomach-churning diet regimens of celebrities: Gwyneth Paltrow (tasty!), Elizabeth Taylor (peanut butter and steak, yuck), Madonna, Beyonc and more. People Magazine’s Best New Books In each chapter of her witty book, Ms. Harrington eats like various celebrities, dead and alive. Among them: Madonna, Jackie Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and, of course, the domestic goddess herself, Gwyneth Paltrow. It turns out bombshells of Hollywood’s golden age had some nasty ideas about how to lose weight, particularly the gorgeous yo-yo dieter Liz Taylor. Ms. Harrington follows the diet laid out by Taylor in her 1987 book Elizabeth Takes Off.’ One dinner consists of a piece of bread topped with steak and slathered with peanut butter. But that seems to pale in comparison to Taylor’s tuna salad, which consisted of tomato paste, tuna, grapefruit, scallions and mayonnaise. She is, in short, an excellent broad with really bad taste in food,’ Ms. Harrington writes. Bari Weiss, The Wall Street Journal After the sugar-rush of the holidays come the January diet books. One of the most entertaining is I’ll Have What She’s Having: My Adventures in Celebrity Dieting by Rebecca Harrington . . . It’s both hilarious and sad to think of Gwyneth Paltrow subsisting on kale juice and raw almonds soaked in water, or Dolly Parton trying to slim down on vats of cabbage soup. In the end, Harrington decides, we should quit worrying about being perfect, and have a slice of pizza. Minneapolis Star-Tribune (Five Faves of the Week) Harrington delves into the lives of legendary beauties in the most personal way possible: by emulating their diets. From Greta Garbo to Beyonc, Harrington chronicles the food and fitness regimens that may or may not transform us into svelte stars, too . . . Hilariously humanizing. 7 Times 77-Year-Old Jane Fonda Proved She’s a Fashion Goddess

In the past year or so, if there’s been a red carpet with Jane Fonda on it, your eyes have basically been glued to the Hollywood icon and Grace & Frankie actor.
And if you’re surprised by her recent turn as style plate, you’re not alone. “I think it’s a hoot that, at my age, people are calling me a fashion icon,” the 77-year-old told W magazine while posing for its May cover. After spending years looking perfectly beautiful in sophisticated ensembles a well-heeled grandmother might wear (like this, back in 2010), Fonda’s turned it up in curve-hugging, super-sexy red carpet picks from the likes of Balmain and Atelier Versace.

For her turn on the Cannes red carpet this weekend, she picked cobalt blue Atelier Versace that was more or less the same as the white stunner supermodel Doutzen Kroes picked a few days prior.

For her most recent Cannes appearance, she picked a disco-sexy white suit with a serious statement necklace.

At a formal dinner at the film festival, she opted for sparkly black with a lowcut neckline that showed off a fantastic diamond necklace.

At the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, it was skintight black sequins from Donna Karan.

The outfit that first made everyone sit up and take notice of Fonda’s sexier style was the green Balmain jumpsuit she rocked at the Grammys (it caused Rihanna to run up to her backstage and say, “Ohmigod! I want to be you when I grow up!”). The sexy style has been spotted on plenty of other bombshells, including Chrissy Teigen at Sunday’s Billboard awards.

For this year’s Golden Globes, it was more Versace with sexy cutouts at the side.

Partying after this year’s Oscars, she pulled a Jennifer Lopez, going super sheer in a beaded jumpsuit.

“I’ve always known what I like on my body. I’m best when I’m wearing something structured, with no frills or bows. Something that will show my waist and bum, because I’ve always had a good bum,” she told W. Of the Balmain that started it all? “I took one look at that jumpsuit, and I said, ‘That’s it!'”

It’s Grandma’s First Time In Hawaii And She’s Not Impressed

Hula, getting lei’d, a nice sunset, perhaps some tropical cocktails … sounds like a good time, right?

Not according to this grandma.

Redditor ratedhero recently posted a picture of his grandmother during her first trip to Hawaii and, by the looks of it, she was seriously unimpressed.

According to ratedhero, they were at a hotel luau on the island of Maui when he took the photo below.

View post on imgur.com

The photo, uploaded earlier this week, quickly found its way to the top of reddit. Curious redditors asked if grandma had even a little bit of fun.

That’s questionable,” redditor lindsie128, who claims to be the original poster’s sister, replied, including another photo.

“Later in the trip we drove to an amazing spot with a waterfall. The waterfall was down a short, fairly level path in the jungle. My dad asked, ‘Don’t you want to walk down and see it up close?’ She and my aunt said ‘No, we can see it fine from the car.'”

Here’s grandma and auntie watching the awe-inspiring beauty of a Hawaiian waterfall from the comfort of a rental sedan.

Of course, the internet does what it does best and made a meme of it.

Watch out, Grumpy Cat. Maybe Unimpressed Grandma will get her own movie, too.

Kylie Jenner Says She’s ‘High As F–k’ In Snapchat Video

Kylie Jenner is pretty good at keeping secrets (she spent all those months denying she had lip injections), so we’re pretty sure she knows what is and isn’t the best idea to post on social media.

And yet here we are. On Wednesday, the 17-year-old took to Snapchat where she posted a number of photos and videos of herself and boyfriend Tyga on a flight, but one video is just not like the others.

“I’m high as fuck,” Jenner is heard saying before taking a bit of what appears to be a biscuit (she shared a photo of what looks like a Popeyes’ fried chicken meal earlier that day), and reacts as though it’s the best thing she’s ever tasted. “Oh my God,” she says as her eyes light up.

We’re not sure if Jenner is referring to the altitude, but The Huffington Post has reached out to her rep for comment.

JSYK: Gigi Hadid Was the Cutest Child Model for Guess and Now She’s Back

gigi-hadid-for-guess-old-ad

The recent snaps from Gigi Hadid‘s spring ’15 campaign for Guess are her raciest yet (you see the outline of a breast!), but they’re nothing new—she told Vanity Fair she was discovered by designer Paul Marciano at age two. “I started with Baby Guess, I did Guess Kids, and then I stopped because I was a really competitive horseback rider and a club volleyball player. I kind of stopped modeling.” Here’s a tween snap that photographer Kymberly Marciano shared, and, OMG, it reminds me so much of Kendall Jenner’s earliest modeling moments.

Digging in to my Real Housewives of Beverly Hills history, I think we were introduced to Gigi (and mom Yolanda) during one of Gigi’s first grown-up shoots for Guess. I’m remembering Yolanda being friends with the Marcianos too, and Kymberly said she’s known Gigi for her entire life in this blog post so my memory fails me not. There’s also a treasure trove of older Gigi for Guess pics there, including an adorable turtleneck moment you have to see.

This is one of her newest images, showing off floral-painted jeans Paul said he designed just for Gigi.

I love Gigi (and Yolanda), so this story makes me happy. I’m also impressed that even after her career’s taken off, she hasn’t forgotten family friends or the brand that gave her her first big job.

What do you think? Surprised that Gigi did another Guess campaign?

But right from the start, Lovato was different from the rest of the tween stars to come out of that 2000s boom.
