The Trump ‘SNL’ Season Led Kate McKinnon To Smash A Wall With A Hammer

This latest season of “Saturday Night Live” had great ratings. This was due in large part to very popular Donald Trump-related sketches, as the country tuned in to see how “SNL” would interpret the president’s various gaffes.

Although the focus on Trump gained the show a large audience, you can imagine this constant focus on such depressing source material would be taxing on a staff tasked to somehow make the subject of Trump seem fun.

With that in mind, Kate McKinnon was on “The Tonight Show” Friday night and explained that after this season, she and her writer friends needed to blow off quite a bit of steam.

A hammer was involved.

I grabbed the hammer and one of my writer friends was like, “Put a hole in the wall. Put a hole in the wall!”
Kate McKinnon

Host Jimmy Fallon and McKinnon ― who famously portrayed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton ― talked about how NBC is renovating the “SNL” offices.

“Before we left, the last week we were all blowing off a lot of steam because it’s been like a big season or whatever and we were told the walls are coming down,” said McKinnon. “The whole floor is being demolished.”

McKinnon explained how she was dancing to music with “SNL” writer friends and fellow cast member Aidy Bryant when they realized a hammer was in the room.

“I grabbed the hammer and one of my writer friends was like, ‘Put a hole in the wall. Put a hole in the wall!,’” said McKinnon. “So I did and I put a hole in the wall. And then they all put a hole in the wall.”

But apparently, McKinnon had misinterpreted the plans for renovation and took that “the whole floor is being demolished” too literally.

“Then Aidy came back from the bathroom,” McKinnon continued. “And she was like, ‘Guys, the walls aren’t coming down.’”

McKinnon told Fallon that after the hammer incident, she bought a “big bucket of spackle” and left it in the office. “I sincerely apologize to whoever I made trouble for,” McKinnon said while looking straight at the camera.

After the apology she also jokingly admitted, “But I did feel alive. Wow did I feel young and alive.”

The Rock Announced His 2020 Presidential Bid On ‘SNL’ (Kind Of)

One of the most likable men in Hollywood may have just announced his presidential bid for 2020.

After weeks of teasing a run for the presidency, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson told America “I’m in” during the season finale of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. The pro wrestler-turned-actor said he was officially running for president starting that night, right after Alec Baldwin awarded him his Five-Timers Club velvet jacket, to mark Johnson’s fifth time hosting the show.

“In the past, I never would have considered running for president. I mean, I didn’t think I was qualified at all,” Johnson joked. “But now I’m actually worried that I’m too qualified.”

Johnson also took the time to announce his running mate: the equally likable celebrity Tom Hanks.

The charming duo made their case for why they are the perfect picks to lead the United States of America ― and they were fairly convincing.

“The truth is, America needs us,” Hanks said. “No one can seem to agree on anything anymore except for two things: pizza and us.”

Hanks joked that the duo would get 100 percent of the vote because Hanks ― who’s “fought in World War II in like 10 different movies” ― would win the senior vote.

“And I, of course, would get the minority vote,” Johnson added. “Because everyone just assumes that I’m, well, whatever they are.”

Johnson delighted fans this month when he discussed his political ambitions in a GQ profile and called a presidential campaign “a real possibility.” A national poll suggested that Johnson could potentially win against President Donald Trump if he ran as a Democrat in the 2020 presidential election.

The actor later said in the monologue that he and Hanks were only joking, but then he offered a few words of patriotic encouragement.

“When it comes to politics, we need more poise and less noise,” Johnson said. “Americans deserve strong, capable leaders ― leaders who care about this country and care about its people.”

To which Hanks replied, “Uh, Dwayne, that kind of sounds like you and me.”

Then, with their hands held high, the two national treasures dropped their campaign banner and yelled, “We’re doing it!”

So is Johnson/Hanks 2020 really happening? Only time will tell.

‘Backpack Kid’ Upstaged Katy Perry On ‘SNL’ And Mesmerized The Internet

It takes a lot to upstage Katy Perry, but Backpack Kid managed to do it.

Perry, who channeled Beetlejuice in a black and white striped coat, performed “Swish Swish” ― which is thought to be a Taylor Swift diss track ― on the season finale of “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.

The pop star was flanked by drag queens on both sides of a runway, before she moved aside to let them do their thing. Then a star was born:

Backpack Kid, as the people of Twitter dubbed him, stepped onto the runway and mesmerized the world with his backpack and the way he moved. (For the record, Backpack Kid’s real name is Russell Horning, he’s 15, and he’s on Instagram.)

People were delighted. They were in awe. They were confused. They had questions. They knew he had stolen the show.

Will we see more of Backpack Kid? Time will tell.

David S. Pumpkins Returned To ‘SNL’ And We Have Questions

When it comes to “Saturday Night Live” characters, David S. Pumpkins is one of the most bizarre and the most beloved in recent history.

Played by Tom Hanks, the character ― a man in a pumpkin-print suit accompanied by two dancing skeletons ― was introduced to audiences when Hanks hosted “SNL” in October 2016.

If you had any questions left unanswered, the return of Hanks as David S. Pumpkins or rather “David S. Pimpkins” in this case, you are unlikely to find them in this weekend’s “Rap Song,” which is a parody of overstuffed hip-hop collaborations.

Actually, we want to know what happened to Pumpkins’ two dancing skeletons.

‘SNL’ Asks: Who You Gonna Believe? The FBI Director Or The Guy Who’s Lying?

Donald Trump isn’t “done yet,” conceded “Saturday Night Live’s” Colin Jost on “Weekend Update.” But “Mike Pence is definitely warming up in the bullpen.”

Things don’t look too promising for the “president-for-now,” even though he denied that he told booted FBI Director James Comey to stop the investigation into Russian connections to the Trump campaign, Jost noted on the “SNL” season finale this weekend.

“This sets up a real dilemma,” said Jost. “Who are you going to believe? The head of the FBI or the guy who’s definitely lying?”

Trump’s appeal to Comey to announce that the president was not under investigation “sounds pretty suspicious,” Jost added. “If you’re watching an episode of ‘Law & Order’ and the husband asks the detective, ‘When are you going to announce I’m not a suspect in my wife’s disappearance,’ that guy definitely buried a lady in the woods.”

Jost also mocked the revelation that Comey wore a suit that would blend in with the curtains in the Blue Room of the White House so Trump wouldn’t notice him.

“If he really wanted to avoid interacting with Trump, he should have just married him,” Jost said.

As for Trump calling Comey a “nut job,” Jost joked: “I’m just happy a nut job wasn’t something that happened to Trump in a Russian hotel room.”

Check out the video above to find out what Jost said about Pence and gay people.

The segment included farewell “Weekend Update” appearances by Vanessa Bayer as muddle-mouthed weather woman Dawn Lazarus and Bobby Moynihan as Drunk Uncle. This is the last “SNL” season for both.

Bayer also played a flatulent old-Hollywood glam movie star in a film skit, and a super-bratty girlfriend in an ad whose fed-up boyfriend (Beck Bennett) tries to shut her up with a Cartier diamond-encrusted fidget spinner.

Moynihan, meanwhile, appeared on this weekend’s episode as an anemic trash-talking wrestling rival of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He also appeared as a mad scientist infuriated by a rival’s creation of a sex molester robot, in the program’s riskiest skit that was earning lots of Twitter hate Saturday night.

Mike Huckabee Says ‘SNL’ Impression Of His Daughter Was ‘Sexist’

Aidy Bryant debuted her impression of White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders this past weekend on “Saturday Night Live” and ―big shocker ― not everyone is happy about it.

“For those of you who don’t know me yet, my father is Mike Huckabee and my mother is a big southern hamburger,” Bryant-as-Sanders told the press pool in a deep southern drawl during the skit.

While the the skit was fairly complimentary toward Sanders, dubbing her “articulate and charming” and an improvement over Sean Spicer, it seems her father, former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, was not amused

“I thought it was a little bit silly, sexist, [and] misogynist, but my daughter is certainly capable of handling a whole lot worse than that,” Huckabee said on the Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co” on Tuesday.

Other commentators claimed the skit fat-shamed the deputy press secretary.

“You guys were mean about Huckabee Sanders,” CNN’s Chris Cuomo said on Monday. “You were fat-shaming her. You were talking about how she looks and what she wears. I thought that it was mean, not funny.”

He added, “They had her eating. I thought it was in poor taste.”

Cuomo is referring to the show’s decision to have Bryant eating an apple when she reappears at the podium after being kicked off the stage by Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer.

The apple was no doubt a strange choice, but it’s hard to argue with the fact that casting Bryant as Huckabee Sanders is pretty spot-on. And if there’s any fat-shaming going on, it was coming from Cuomo, who probably owes Bryant an apology.

As for joking about how Sanders looks and what she wears, that’s likely a reference to the Weekend Update segment on Saturday’s episode, in which host Colin Jost took a swing at her.

“Spicer’s thirsty understudy Sarah Huckabee Sanders said James Comey had committed basic atrocities while he was head of the FBI, like reopening the Hillary Clinton investigation,” said Jost. “But that’s not a basic atrocity. A basic atrocities is when you post a brunch photo that says, ‘Pizza is life.’ Or when your profile pic is you on an inflatable swan. Basic Atrocities, by the way, is also where Sarah Huckabee Sanders gets her wardrobe.”

Yes, this is horribly sexist, regardless of the fact that Sean Spicer’s terrible sense of style is routinely dissected in the news. Horribly sexist.

Donald Trump Gives Sean Spicer His Final Kiss On ‘SNL’

Sean Spicer’s days as the White House press secretary could be nearing their end, and “Saturday Night Live” did not pass up the opportunity to imagine what they’d look like.

After teasing her “SNL” appearance this week by rolling (literally) through the streets of New York, Melissa McCarthy popped out of the bushes and reprised her role as Spicer once again this week.

McCarthy, who was hiding among the bushes as Spicer, interrupted Aidy Bryant’s stint as Sarah Huckabee Sanders ― President Donald Trump’s political aide who took on the press this week after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

After booting Sanders from the stage, McCarthy’s Spicer aggressively fielded questions from the press, but things got dicey when reporters started asking the press secretary if he was afraid of losing his job like Comey.

Spicer defended his boss, saying that he endures POTUS’ abuse because they’re friends. But the questioning eventually leads him on a journey to the streets of New York, then a golf course in New Jersey, to ask Trump once and for all what his future at the White House looks like.

Long story short, it ended with Spicer’s final kiss.

“I don’t think I can do this anymore, Mr. Trump,” Spicer told Alec Baldwin’s Trump. “They’re saying that you’re going to replace me with Sarah.”

“Sean, come on, I would never do that,” the president replied. Sarah Huckabee Sanders “doesn’t have your special spice: Salt and pepper, a little bit of sugar.”

“Sean,” Trump said. “Kiss me.”

In the clip above, watch Spicer’s final moments in the Trump administration, as imagined by “SNL.”

New ‘SNL’ Game Show: Where In The World Is Kellyanne Conway?

What happened to Kellyanne Conway? The White House counsel who was everywhere at the very start of Donald Trump’s presidency has pretty much dropped out of sight.

So “Saturday Night Live” introduced spoof game show “Where in the World Is Kellyanne Conway?” — modeled on the classic PBS kids show “Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?”

Cue trench coat-wearing Kate McKinnon playing Conway. Enter a cappella singers crooning: “Where in the world is Kellyanne Conway? She used to be on TV, on like every single panel. Then one day we all woke up and she was no longer there.”

Just one problem: Apparently, no one cares where Conway is. “We don’t want to find her,” explains one of the contestants.

“Well, I guess that’s our show,” says game show host Mike Day.

It’s Baldwin vs. Baldwin As ‘O’Reilly’ And ‘Trump’ Chat Sex Harassment On ‘SNL’

Alec Baldwin faced himself on “Saturday Night Live,” but it wasn’t so very hard to do because he was playing two brothers from another mother: Bill O’Reilly and Donald Trump.

When those guys get together, can the topic of sex harassment be very far away? Baldwin’s O’Reilly discovers during the skit that one of his reporters isn’t on the scene — and no longer works for Fox News — prompting O’Reilly to ask: “Did she get the check?” The reporter’s disappearing act is a dig about recent reports of payments to at least five women to settle sex harassment accusations against O’Reilly. Other disappearing acts? Some 60 Fox News sponsors who no longer want to be associated with the “O’Reilly Factor.” That leaves a room for a commercial promoting “Dog Cocaine” on the “SNL” skit.

Baldwin’s O’Reilly finally ‘fesses up that he’s been the subject of some fuzzy complaints from women involving “exciting opportunities” he has offered. Fortunately, notes Baldwin, someone who is “unimpeachable on all female issues” has stepped forward to defend him.

Cue “Hail to the Chief,” and there’s Baldwin — again — on the other side of a split screen playing Trump. “I see a lot of myself in you, Bill,” says Baldwin’s Trump.

“O’Reilly” thanks “Trump” for saying that he “did nothing wrong,” even though it appears Trump doesn’t really know the facts of the case. He had a “loose hunch,” says Baldwin’s Trump. “I’m more familiar with this case than, say … health care.”

‘SNL’ Just Identified The Worst Kind Of Male Feminist

Saturday Night Live” just exposed the worst kind of liberal: dudes who use activism to pick up chicks.

In a digital short titled “Girl at a Bar,” Cecily Strong gets hit on by a series of men who are eager to talk about feminism. All seems to go well until Strong’s character, who’s wearing a shirt that says “The future is female,” turns each guy down.

Beck Bennett points out that he and Strong are wearing matching shirts, but turns on her when she rejects his offer for a date. “OK, bitch,” Bennett screams. “I wore this shirt and you won’t even let me nut? I followed all the rules!”

Things seem to get better when Kyle Mooney pulls the screaming man away and tells Strong he was just in D.C. for the Women’s March, saying “it was honestly one of the best days of my life.”

But when Strong turns him down too, Mooney unleashes his wrath.

“I freaking marched for you. You won’t get down on this?” he yells while grabbing his crotch.

Even Alex Moffat in a pink pussy hat can’t seem to get it right. He name-drops Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), then presents Strong with a very disgusting offer.

After “SNL” scored its highest ratings in years by picking apart President Donald Trump’s administration, it seems like the show decided it was time to make fun of the left too.

And creepy, fake feminist men are a hilarious start.

The ‘Failing’ ‘SNL’ Just Scored Its Best Ratings In 6 Years

President Donald Trump, a self-described “ratings machine,” just helped “Saturday Night Live” to its best numbers in six years.

The Feb. 11 broadcast featured Alec Baldwin as host for a record-breaking 17th time and musical guest Ed Sheeran; Baldwin has been a recurring guest since he debuted his parody of Trump in November.

The show, which scored a 7.2 Neilsen rating among the coveted 18-49 demographic, hasn’t seen viewership that large since May 8, 2010, when Betty White hosted with Jay Z as the musical guest (that show scored an 8.8).

Trump, who hosted the show in late 2015, has repeatedly criticized “SNL” for Baldwin’s portrayal of him.

Despite Trump’s claims that the show is “failing,” viewership is up 50 percent from the same time last year, the network said Sunday.

This weekend’s episode, which featured Baldwin as Trump, Melissa McCarthy as press secretary Sean Spicer and Kate McKinnon as Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway, was the most-watched show of the week in late-night or primetime.

The numbers NBC released Sunday morning only include what Nielsen calls “Live + Same-Day” viewership: People who watched the broadcast live or watched it within a same-night window.

When the national numbers are in Tuesday ― which will include DVR and VOD screenings ― and a week of “time shifting” views has been factored in (via online streams on services like Hulu), the overall viewership is expected to far exceed Sunday’s estimates.

Among the eyeballs contributing to a boost in “SNL” viewership are those from Trump’s own administration. While the president appears to watch the show closely ― as evidenced by his timely tirades against it ― other members of his team, like Spicer, are also tuning in and, like their boss, are similarly unimpressed with the show. Spicer called McCarthy’s initial parody of him “mean.”

Critics and viewers, on the other hand, can’t seem to get enough.

Alec Baldwin’s First-Ever ‘SNL’ Monologue Is Proof The Man Was Born For This

If President Donald Trump is furiously anticipating this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” episode hosted by Alec Baldwin ― and we’re 99 percent sure he is ― he better buckle up.

Baldwin, POTUS’s decided nemesis and a dedicated Trump impersonator, has been an impressive addition since his humble beginnings on the show, as evidenced in NBC’s throwback clip of the actor’s first-ever “Saturday Night Live” monologue in 1990.

The clip shows a young Baldwin taking the stage at New York’s Rockefeller Plaza for the first time, but with his smooth talk and silky confidence you’d never guess it.

“Charming, win them over, get them on your side,” Baldwin, who will ― after this weekend ― have hosted “SNL” a record 17 times, says of doing his first monologue in the clip above. “Now that is something I think I know how to do.”

While Trump has made it known that he hates ― and we mean hates ― Baldwin and the “SNL” team for making fun of pretty much everything he does, we find it hard for anyone to be repelled of Baldwin’s ‘90s-era charm.

Kristen Stewart Called Herself ‘So Gay’ On ‘SNL.’ Here’s Why It Matters.

Last night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” was must-see TV for a number of reasons: The Grim Reaper was tapped to play Steve Bannon, Melissa McCarthy showed up and delivered a blistering, pitch-perfect portrayal of White House press secretary Sean Spicer, and host Kristen Stewart said the F-word on live TV during her monologue.

But there was another equally remarkable, though admittedly quieter, moment in the first five minutes of the show that you might have missed: Stewart, for the first time ever, publicly used the word “gay” in reference to herself (see the above video at the 2:26 mark).

Stewart’s sexual identity has been the subject of rumors for years. It’s difficult to avoid speculation about your private life when you’re not just famous but also one-half of one of the most famous couples in the world, as Stewart was when she dated “Twilight” co-star Robert Pattinson for several years. But even after that relationship ended, Stewart was still dogged by the press thanks to her involvement with a number of queer women in the entertainment industry, including Alicia Cargile, singer Annie Clark, who is better known as St. Vincent, and the woman she’s currently dating, model Stella Maxwell

To her credit, Stewart wasn’t exactly secretive about her relationships. In a 2016 interview with Elle UK, the actress used the word “girlfriend” to refer to Cargile, her partner at the time. She also said that “dating a girl” forced her to be more open about her relationships than she was when she was dating a guy. “To hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public,” she said, adding, “It opened my life up and I’m so much happier.”

But for all of her candor, Stewart had never used the word “gay” ― or any other label ― to identify herself until last night. And really, that’s fine. In fact, it’s very much on trend with how other young people think about their sexuality. A 2016 survey found that 35 percent of millennials identify as something other than exclusively heterosexual (and a whopping 52 percent of individuals between the ages of 13 and 20 reported the same) but didn’t necessarily use a term like “gay” or “bisexual” or “lesbian” in reference to themselves.

Many people find these labels to be less necessary than they once were. As queer people become more and more integrated into mainstream society, thanks to changing cultural norms triggered by things like marriage equality and higher visibility in the media, many feel less of a need to identify as any one thing ― or to talk about it in any kind of public way, like a splashy tell-all interview. But labels can still be hugely useful, not only for individuals to orient themselves within a community, but also as a way to continue to increase that aforementioned visibility and push the LGBTQ movement forward, especially in times of political and cultural uncertainty, like now.

When one of the biggest movie stars of the last 10 years refers to herself as “so gay” on one of the most-watched late-night television shows on the air, it forces people to reconfigure how they think about what it means to be “gay” and who and what that term includes. Suddenly, anyone who only knew Stewart as “that girl from ‘Twilight’” and “Robert Pattinson’s ex girlfriend,” is confronted by her sexuality in a new and startling way, and it upends assumptions about the community, which is exactly why coming out is still so crucial.

It should be noted that Stewart’s “so gay” comment was made in reference to ridiculous tweets President Donald Trump once sent about her relationship with Pattinson:

And, yes, the phrase was delivered with more than a hint of sarcasm and a certain degree of exasperation, which seemed to be leveled at Trump but also maybe at the world’s obsession with her sexuality. And that’s fair. It can’t be fun having your every move photographed and dissected. But in an era when LGBTQ rights are currently at risk in new and frightening ways, public acts of solidarity with the community, including coming out, are more important than ever.

It should also be noted that Stewart’s “so gay” comment doesn’t necessarily mean that she literally identifies as gay. She did date Pattinson, someone who, as far as we know, identifies as male, which may mean she identifies as bisexual or pansexual or sexually fluid or in some other way than “gay,” which is traditionally thought of as being sexually attracted to someone of the same gender. Perhaps she chose that phrase because it packed the most punch and would be the most instantly recognizable to those watching the show ― and because it’s probably the term most people have used behind her back ever since she started dating women. But she also may have decided at this point in her life that it’s the term that feels the most appropriate. We just don’t know.

Regardless, I had to catch my breath when I heard her say it last night. I’m proud of Stewart for standing up and joining the community in a way she hadn’t before, especially at a time when our community is hurting and scared. Coming out doesn’t happen just once and it’s rarely easy. Because heterosexuality is still the assumed default orientation in our society, every time a queer person meets someone new, there’s the chance they’ll be required to explain who they truly are, and in that moment exists the radical opportunity to challenge and change minds. Last night I believe Stewart probably did both, and I think we’re all a little bit better off because of it.

‘SNL’ Bids Obama Farewell With Touching Rendition Of ‘To Sir, With Love’

On the day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, “Saturday Night Live” bid farewell to Barack Obama with a touching musical number.

Cecily Strong kicked off the performance, singing “To Sir, With Love” as she stood in front of a large photo of Obama. Fellow cast member Sasheer Zamata joined in for the second half of the song, which was slightly modified from the 1967 original.

The duo sang, “And as you leave / I know that I am losing my best friend / A friend who taught me right from wrong / And weak from strong / That’s a lot to learn / What, what can I give you in return?”

They then pulled out a coffee mug for Obama that read, “World’s Best President.” Because nothing says “thank you” quite like a slogan mug.

Matt Lauer Confronts Donald Trump About His ‘SNL’ Tweets

Well, we all know what Donald Trump is up to on Saturday nights.

For weeks, each “Saturday Night Live” episode has been followed by an especially curmudgeonly review from the show’s No. 1 fan/hate-watcher, our new president-elect.

In that time, HuffPost asked some “SNL” cast members for their thoughts, and Sasheer Zamata summed it up best, saying, “Shouldn’t he be working on something?”

Hey, yeah. Shouldn’t he be working on something?

While Trump called in to “Today” after his appointment as Time’s Person of the Year, Matt Lauer, who some believe failed to press Trump in a previous TV segment, called the Donald out on his Twitter behavior.

“Can we agree, President-elect Trump, that at this stage it would be better for you to simply stop watching ‘SNL’ as opposed to watching it and then complaining about it? ” said Lauer.

The answer? Basically a resounding, “Nah.”

Trump went on a rant, saying, ”Well, I hosted ‘SNL’ when it was a good show, but it’s not a good show anymore. First of all, nothing to do with me. There’s nothing funny about it. The skits are terrible. I mean Alec, I like Alec, but his imitation of me is really mean-spirited and not very good. I don’t think it’s good. And I do like him. And I like him as an actor, but I don’t think that his imitation of me gets me at all. And it’s meant to be very mean-spirited, which is very biased, and I don’t like it. So I can tweet that out.”

“But you can’t bring yourself to stop watching it,” said Lauer.

“No, look, frankly the way the show is going now, and you look at the kind of work they’re doing, who knows how long that show’s gonna be on. It’s a terrible show.”

“I think it’s gonna do OK,” Lauer said.

Yeah, “SNL” is probably going to be fine. After all, Time’s Person of the Year tunes in every week.

Emma Stone Is A Sexy, Hot Dog-Loving Poster Girl Come To Life In ‘SNL’ Sketch

Emma Stone took on the role of sexy poster girl during her stint on “Saturday Night Live” last night and thanks to her, we’ll never think of math the same way again.

In one sketch, called “Posters,” Pete Davidson plays a student struggling to figure out his algebra homework. As he considers dropping out of school, he falls asleep and begins dreaming the people from the posters on his wall are talking to him.

As the snowboarder (Mikey Day), video game character (Kate McKinnon) and comedian (Kenan Thompson) on the walls try to encourage Davidson to believe in himself, Stone’s hot dog-obsessed modern pinup continues to distract him with her “fat, shiny hotdog” and sexual innuendos.

Playing up the “dumb blonde” stereotype, Stone never seems to realize the other poster people are trying to help Davidson with his math, which causes some understandable (and hilarious) annoyance from the others.

Kristen Wiig Sings A Very Questionable History Of Thanksgiving On ‘SNL’

Kristen Wiig joined “Saturday Night Live” cast members in singing the history of Thanksgiving.

But some of her claims — like Christopher Columbus sailing to the Americas from South Korea — were, let’s just say, somewhat dubious. It was enough to prompt special guests Steve Martin and Will Forte to drop in and call out Wiig on her inaccuracy.

“Guys, I know I adjusted some of the facts so they would rhyme, like any true historian,” Wiig said in her defense, before her guests also got swept up in the holiday spirit.

After all, who needs real facts in this post-truth world?

‘SNL’ Mocks Just How Desperate Hillary Clinton Is To Be A New Yorker

Subways be damned, Hillary Clinton is a New Yorker and she wants to prove it to you.

After a string of losses to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in recent contests from Idaho to Wyoming, Clinton is doing just about anything to convince New York voters that she deserves their support in the state’s upcoming Democratic primary.

This kind of political pandering is tailor-made for ”Saturday Night Live” and in the cold open for this weekend’s Russell Crowe-helmed episode, Clinton’s New York credibility took center stage.

“God, I love being back in the Fat Apple, my home state,” says Kate McKinnon as Clinton, “except for Illinois and Arkansas, but they already voted for me, so we cool.”

McKinnon’s Clinton then proceeds to prove just how relatable she is to New Yorkers by sporting both a Yankees and Mets hat, (fake) eating a city hot dog and nuts, and finally taking the dreaded subway.

“The New York City subway is the best way to get around,” McKinnon says as she approaches the entrance. But after multiple failed swipes and an attempt to jump the turnstile, she gives up and says, “I’ll just take a cab.”

Tracy Morgan Brings Brian Fellow Back For Hilarious ‘SNL’ Sketch

Not only did Tracy Morgan give us a “30 Rock” reunion on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, he also brought back one of his most beloved characters: Brian Fellow

For the sketch, Fellow, “an enthusiastic young man with a sixth-grade education and an abiding love for all God’s creatures,” spoke to both a live beaver and a live camel.

As per usual, Fellow showed little interest in the actual animals on his “Safari Planet” show and tried to keep the attention on himself by repeating his signature line, “I’m Brian Fellow!” The camel did try to steal the spotlight, but Fellow wasn’t having it.

“I can’t see, camel!” he said as he led the desert animal out of the frame.

Brian Fellow was first introduced to the “SNL” audience back in 1999, and through the years, the sketch has included appearances by celebrities like Jason Sudeikis, Matt Damon and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Eddie Murphy Explains Why He Wouldn’t Portray Bill Cosby On ‘SNL’ Special

Eddie Murphy says he chose not to reprise his famous impression of Bill Cosby on the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary special because he didn’t want to joke about the embattled comedian’s sexual assault scandal.

“It’s horrible,” Murphy told The Washington Post in a lengthy interview published Tuesday. “There’s nothing funny about it. If you get up there and you crack jokes about him, you’re just hurting people. You’re hurting him. You’re hurting his accusers. I was like, ‘Hey, I’m coming back to SNL for the anniversary, I’m not turning my moment on the show into this other thing.'”

Cosby has been accused of sexually assaulting more than 50 women.

Murphy, a former “SNL” cast member, almost appeared in the sketch before changing his mind and deciding to simply give a brief speech instead. He told The Post he “totally understood” why “SNL” wanted to do the bit, which ended up starring current cast member Kenan Thompson as Cosby.

“It was the biggest thing in the news at the time,” Murphy said. “I can see why they thought it would be funny, and the sketch that Norm [Macdonald] wrote was hysterical.”

After the airing of the February special, Macdonald explained in a series of tweets that Murphy declined to play Cosby because “he will not kick a man when he is down.” In response, Cosby released a statement thanking Murphy for his decision.

“I am very appreciative of Eddie and I applaud his actions,” a Cosby spokesperson said.

Reese Witherspoon Has The ‘SNL’ Cast Apologize To Their Moms For Mother’s Day

We’ve all lied to our moms and put them through hell and back. But luckily Reese Witherspoon is around to remind us to apologize.

For the “Saturday Night Live” Mother’s Day episode, the “Wild” actress had each of the SNL cast members bring their mom on stage and apologize for that one awful thing they did.

‘SNL’ Introduces A New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Kingdom With ‘Boyz N The Hood’ Spoof

Game of Thrones” is about to introduce us to a new region of Westeros, but we’re not talking about Dorne. We’re heading to South Centros.

“Saturday Night Live” imagined what a crossover between “Game of Thrones” and John Singleton’s “Boyz n the Hood” would look like, resulting in an eighth kingdom.

The “SNL” parody features Ice Cube (Kenan Thompson) decked out in Jon Snow-like attire, Leslie Jones spoofing Brienne, and host Taraji P. Henson getting emotional over the Red Wedding.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the Kingslayer himself, also shows up with a message for the haters. This probably isn’t the movie spinoff George R.R. Martin had in mind.

Colin Quinn’s One Disappointment About The ‘SNL’ 40th Anniversary Bash

Colin Quinn thought the “SNL” 40th anniversary celebration was “kind of great,” but there was one person he’d hoped would show.

“I wished [former ‘SNL’ cast member] Dennis Miller was there,” he told HuffPost Live in a conversation on Wednesday.

When asked if he had any idea why Miller wasn’t, Quinn said no.

The festivities otherwise exceeded expectations, according to Quinn.

“Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, they’re so hot right now, they’re like two seats away!” he recalled. “I was just glad I was two seats away and not 18 rows, like I should’ve been.”

And while the show itself was funny, behind the scenes was quite different.

“I felt really emotional, backstage mostly,” he described. “The show itself was fine but backstage, you’re like ‘Oh my god, everybody’ — we forgot we all knew each other so much.”

‘SNL’ Women Take Sara Bareilles’ ‘Brave’ Lyrics Literally And Say What They Wanna Say

Do you suffer from politeness? Are you tired of making coffee dates with people you don’t like or holding back spoilers for the sake of your friends? You don’t have to anymore, you just have to be brave!

The ladies of “SNL” embrace their audacity in a new sketch that says it’s OK to speak your mind, even if it’s totally rude. Leslie Jones calls out Pete Davidson for not paying enough at lunch and Kate McKinnon flat out tells her co-worker she’s not going to her birthday party.

Dakota Johnson Joins ISIS In Provocative ‘SNL’ Spoof

Well, this got people’s attention.

Dakota Johnson of “Fifty Shades of Grey” bids an emotional farewell to her father and joins up with ISIS in an edgy “Saturday Night Live” spoof that aired this weekend.

The bit parodies a Toyota Camry ad in which a father drops off his daughter at the airport so she can presumably depart for military duty.

Only in the faux commercial, “SNL” guest host Johnson reassures her weepy pop (Taran Killam), “Dad, it’s just ISIS.” Then some gun-toting Islamic State fighters drive into view to escort her away, slamming the brakes on the sentimental moment.

In the wake of growing reports of women joining the Islamic State and kidnappings by the militant group, the sketch was sure to touch a nerve.

According to reports, it has been met with both outrage and applause.

What do you think?

Eddie Murphy Apparently Declined Offer To Play Bill Cosby On ‘SNL 40’

Eddie Murphy’s first appearance on “Saturday Night Live” in 30 years was awkward and stilted, but according to Norm Macdonald, it could have been a whole lot different. Over the course of several tweets posted on Wednesday, Macdonald explained that there was, at one point, the idea to include Murphy in the “SNL 40” version of “Celebrity Jeopardy” as Bill Cosby.

As Macdonald wrote, he was disappointed “Celebrity Jeopardy” had become about celebrity impressions for the “SNL 40” special. But writer Steve Higgins thought having Murphy mimic Cosby would help tie it all together. Wrote Macdonald:

Macdonald relayed a bunch of other anecdotes about the week, including that Bill Murray almost didn’t make the show because of a golf tournament, before finishing out the Murphy story:

Without Murphy’s involvement, the sketch wound up happening with Kenan Thompson in the role of Cosby.

Murphy and Cosby memorably crossed paths before. During the 1987 concert film “Raw,” Murphy recalled how Cosby chastised him about using foul language in his stand-up routine.

4 Charming ‘SNL’ Stories From Amy Poehler & Seth Meyers

As part of the promotional push for her new book, “Yes Please,” Amy Poehler sat down with Seth Meyers at New York’s 92Y on Wednesday to discuss her career, their friendship and “Saturday Night Live.” Poehler and Meyers were both hired before the start of the 2001-02 season, and shared the Weekend Update desk from 2006-08. Ahead, four of the best “SNL” anecdotes they shared with the 92Y audience (but not that one about Jon Hamm making Amy Poehler laugh while she was pregnant, because she might have told that one a billion times in the last month).

1. Amy’s Sarah Palin rap was one of Seth’s favorite “SNL” moments

sarah palin snl

“I was on the show for 12 and a half years, and there were maybe 10 times where you thought you fucking nailed it. That you wished no part of it had gone different,” Meyers said. “It’s like when baseball players hit the ball and flip the bat because they know it’s going out of the park.” That’s how Meyers felt about Poehler’s Sarah Palin rap during Weekend Update, which she performed while being nine months pregnant and in front of Palin herself.

“I was an animal. It’s really fun to be that pregnant because you freak everybody out,” Poehler said.

2. Amy thought Ashlee Simpson’s lip-sync flub wasn’t a big deal

ashlee simpson snl

It’s a story Poehler recounts in “Yes Please”: This is what the reaction was like backstage when Ashlee Simpson was caught lip-syncing during her “SNL” performance.

“We were about to do a Merv the Perv sketch. I was dressed as ‘Kill Bill.’ Rachel Dratch was Raggedy Ann. And Maya Rudolph was in a pregnant cat suit,” Poehler said. “They ran by, and it was one of those things where it was so hectic that we hid under the table.” Poehler recalled how Lesley Stahl happened to be backstage as well, as “60 Minutes” was following Lorne Michaels around for a segment on the “SNL” executive producer. Her recollection from under the table: “A thin lady with heels ran by.”

For Meyers, things were a little different. “I was getting hair and makeup, so I didn’t see it. It was like being in the town next over when Godzilla attacks. People ran by [screaming],” he said.

Despite the chaos, Poehler felt the incident would blow over.

“I remember drunkenly at the party being like it’s not a big deal, nobody’s going to care,” she said before mimicking her drunk voice. “‘Who cares? Nobody is going to talk about it tomorrow.'”

3. Johnny Knoxville apparently brought loose pills to “SNL”

johnny knoxville snl

When Johnny Knoxville hosted “SNL,” Rachel Dratch threw her back out after sneezing during the read-through couldn’t move. Fortunately, Knoxville was there to offer some assistance. “He reached into his pockets and pulled out 12 loose pills,” Poehler said. “None of them were downers. All of them only wanted to make you want to party.”

As it turned out, Dratch didn’t need Knoxville’s pharmaceuticals. She received help from the NBC doctor. “She brought the Vicodin, and Rachel didn’t want to take one,” Poehler said. “Everyone else was like, ‘You should take one.'”

4. Amy & Seth’s first show was after 9/11, and it started with a “beautiful joke”

snl rudolph guiliani

Poehler and Meyers both started on the show in 2001, and their first read-through was supposed to happen on Sept. 11.

“It was a very strange time to be starting a new job at a weekly comedy variety show,” Poehler said. “There was a lot of talk about comedy being over. There was a lot of, ‘Will we ever laugh again?’ That happened, of course, when JFK died. There were all these proclamations about when will we ever be able to get back. That felt truly … it really felt like we were never going to get back anywhere close to where we were. The wound felt so psychic. I was living in New York for six or seven years, so it was my hometown at that point.”

Poehler recalled how the aftermath of the terrorist attacks mixed with the jitters associated with starting a new job created an odd juxtaposition. “It was just that combination of, ‘Where are the bathrooms? And are we gonna die?'” she said. “Also there was anthrax in our building, which was great too.”

The season premiere aired on Sept. 29, 2001 with Reese Witherspoon as host. Paul Simon sang “The Boxer” at the beginning of the show as a group of first responders and Mayor Rudolph Giuliani appeared on stage. After Simon’s song, Lorne Michaels came out.

“It was a beautiful New York moment and there was that great joke where Lorne says to Mayor Giuliani, ‘Can we be funny?’ And Mayor Giuliani says, ‘Why start now?’ It’s so hard to write a joke like that. What fucking joke do you open with?” Poehler said. “It’s so self-effacing and funny. The mayor gets the laugh. It’s just a beautiful joke. We wanted the mayor to be in charge.”

After the show, Poehler and the cast went to the after-party with some of the first responders. “Those guys were a blast,” Poehler said. “They were just full of life, having seen so much sadness. Life and death, sadness and happiness live right next to each other. If you’re lucky you get to serve them both. That was an amazing time to be on that show for sure.”

Brooks Wheelan Says He’s ‘Fired’ From ‘SNL’

Brooks Wheelan, one of six featured players hired by “Saturday Night Live” before the start of the show’s 39th season, will not return for Season 40. Wheelan tweeted the news on Monday:

When contacted by HuffPost Entertainment to confirm Wheelan’s ouster, an NBC representative said that neither the network nor show comment on casting changes. That “SNL” would see some turnover before its 40th season is no surprise: Back in June, executive producer Lorne Michaels told Deadline.com that cast adjustments were forthcoming.

“We’re still in the middle of rebuilding,” Michaels said. “So there will be changes this year.”

Wheelan was a stand-up comic before being hired by “SNL.” The 27-year-old was initially brought onto the show as a writer, but he became the sixth and final addition to the cast before the 39th season began. (Colin Jost and Sasheer Zamata were added as featured players during this past season.)

“Each step of the way I thought it was pretty neat that I had gotten this far, so I didn’t put too much pressure on myself in that way,” Wheelan told the Bellevue Reporter about auditioning for “SNL” in an interview published earlier this year. “As far as the audition itself, they saw me perform in Montreal, then in L.A., and then I auditioned on the stage where they shoot the show in New York. It was all scary, but I tried to [minimize that].”

During his stint as a “Saturday Night Live” featured player, Wheelan made a couple of appearances on Weekend Update. He recalled those moment and some of his other favorite memories in a video published by NBC at the close of the season.

As ScreenCrush.com senior editor Mike Ryan pointed out, however, Wheelan’s last appearance on “SNL” might have foreshadowed his exit.

‘SNL’ Obama Resorts To Kissing Justin Bieber To Boost Health Care Sign-Ups In Cold Open

Well, you can’t get much more “buzzy” than booking the President of the United States on “Between Two Ferns,” so how else can President Obama spread the word about his health care plan?

“Saturday Night Live” explored his options in this weekend’s cold open sketch, which featured Noel Wells as an obnoxious social media expert with even more “totes viral” ideas on how get more people to sign up for Obamacare by the end of March.

When a photo op with Pharrell’s hat, Kim Kardashian and even The Pope can’t do the trick, they’re forced to bring out the big guns: a kiss with Justin Bieber.

Check out Obama (Jay Pharoah’s) hilariously passionate kiss with the Biebz (Kate McKinnon) in the GIF below, and check back for a video clip when available.

‘SNL’ Spoofs Kanye West & Kim Kardashian, And Lady Gaga Makes Fun Of Herself

“Saturday Night Live” went out on a limb this weekend and parodied known parody-of-himself hater Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in a talk show spoof, “Waking Up with Kimye.”

Jay Pharoah and Nasid Pedrad nailed their respective impersonations of the A-list celebrity couple, with Kanye fawning over Kim’s supposed innovation (“She just changed the game! Food is jewelry now!” he exclaimed, as Kim held up a macaroni necklace).

He then brought on a nerdy woman, played by host Lady Gaga, who works at the Apple Store’s Genius Bar. He pointed out how dull her clothes are, leading Gaga’s character to winkingly remark, “I don’t care about fashion. I think people who try too hard with their outfits are maybe hiding something.”

She continued to make fun of her own flashy sartorial choices: “Like, come on, dress like a person!”

Only time will tell how and if West will respond to the sketch. Earlier this year, he was rumored to have threatened to pull out of his scheduled “SNL” performance if the sketch show made fun of Kardashian.
