In news that no one could have possibly seen coming, it appears Carmelo Anthony and the Houston Rockets might be re-evaluating their relationship after a slow start to the season for both parties. With Anthony out for the Rockets’ game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, the team and player are engaged in ongoing talks on how they “might still be able to proceed together for the rest of the season,” according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Agent Inc., a New Modeling Platform, Seeks to Disrupt Status Quo

Agent Inc., a new modeling app, looks to disrupt the status quo. The app, which launched last month after two years in beta testing, looks to empower models, efficiently connect them with clients for jobs, and protect their safety — a topic of growing concern.
“We vet the clients the same way we vet the models,” said Mark Willingham, cofounder and chief executive officer of Agent Inc., based in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He said his team does a criminal background check, sex offender checks and validation of identity and verifies their businesses. At present, there are 13,000 models registered on the platform (they must be over 18) and more than 2,000 clients. They are adding between 50 and 100 models and clients a day. The web site is joinagent.com. The app, Agent Inc., is available at the App Store for iOS devices.
“We want massive diversity,” said Willingham, on a visit to New York. In order for a model to be able to be featured on the site, “we have to believe someone will hire you.”
Among the companies that have booked models through Agent are Social Revolution, a Los Angeles-based clothing brand; FaceTory, Inc., an L.A. skincare brand; Blue District, an online

Princess Mako Officially Leaves Her Royal Status to Marry a Commoner with a ‘Bright Smile’

Princess Mako of Akishino has officially announced that she will be abandoning her royal status to marry for love.
The eldest daughter of Japanese Emperor Akihito officially confirmed her engagement in a a press conference on the Akasaka Estate in Toyko on Sunday.  The princess — who is expected to marry her fiancé, law clerk Kei Komuro, in 2018— met Komuro at Tokyo’s International Christian University and the two have been dating for five years.
During the conference, the princess, 25, and her fiancé talked about their low-key romance.

“First I was attracted by his bright smile,” Mako said, according to The Telegraph.

According to the couple,Komuro proposed after dinner one evening in December 2013. However, news of the engagement — and Mako giving up her royal status — didn’t make headlines until earlier this year.

Mako says she has since introduced him to her parents, Prince Akishino — second in line to the Chrysanthemum throne — and Princess Kiko, as someone she wished to “share her future with.”

The announcement sets in motion the Nosai no Gi, a formal engagement ceremony in which the groom presents gifts.
Mako’s renouncement of royal status will make her the 8th member of the Imperial family to renounce status in order to marry since World War II. Her aunt Sayako, the only daughter of the current emperor, followed a similar path to marriage in 2005.
In early June, Japan’s parliament enacted a one-time change in the law which will allow the 83-year old Akihito to abdicate in favor of his eldest son Crown Prince Naruhito, 5, for Japan’s Chrysanthem Throne.

Although Komuro, 25, is not a royal, he was once dubbed the “Prince of the Sea.”

Akihito’s upcoming abdication, the first in more than two centuries, is widely expected to be announced by December.

Under existing Imperial Household Law, only males may inherit the throne. Following the abdication, Mako’s father, Prince Akishino, 51, will become first in line to the throne. Her 10-year old brother, Prince Hisahito, the current Emperor’s only grandson, will become second in line.

Game of Thrones Author Offers Status Update on Next Book

The wait for the sixth A Song of Ice and Fire novel continues, and George R.R. Martin is starting off the new year with an update — however slim — about the potential release window for The Winds of Winter.

Martin responded on his LiveJournal blog to a fan who pitched for a status update on the forthcoming Game of Thrones novel after the fan made the argument that there hasn’t been any news on the project since January 2016. That update was when Martin revealed Winds wouldn’t be out before Game of Thrones: Season 6.

12 Adorable Emma Stone Moments That Solidified Her Status as Our Imaginary BFF

Now that awards season is upon us, we’re going to be seeing much more of our favorite stars, as they tape up their boobs, hit the red carpet and give impassioned acceptance speeches that make us cry until we are unrecognizable.

One of our favorite faces to see on the red carpet? Emma Stone, who just won best actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy at the Golden Globes for her performance in La La Land. As literally anyone could have predicted, Stone was a delight, continuing her storied tradition of, well, being a delight.

Here are the 12 Emma Stone moments that secured her status as our imaginary BFF.

1. When her pre-Golden Globes prep was wildly unglamorous.

Her face = all of our faces when we realized that we live in a world where lip masks exist.

2. When her Globes acceptance speech made us ugly cry.

“Thank you HFPA for this and I have to start by thanking my amazing mom,” the La La Land actress said in her speech. “Thank you, Mom, for everything. I moved here 13 years ago this week and without my mom and my dad and my brother, who has put up with me his whole life. Thank you, Spence, you’re the best.” She continued, dedicating her best actress award to fellow thespians: “To any creative person who’s had a door slammed in their face, either metaphorically or physically, or actors who have had their auditions cut off, or anybody anywhere really who feels like giving up sometimes but finds it in themselves to get up and keep fighting, I share this with you.”

3. When her enduring friendship with Ryan Gosling brought us more joy than we ever thought possible.

“It’s wonderful to work with somebody you know, trust and respect so much. He’s my buddy,” Stone said of her La La Land costar at the Venice Film Festival. (They’ve also appeared in Crazy, Stupid, Love and American Gangster together.)

4. When Stone went in for a hug, and it didn’t quite land.

Who among us hasn’t misread a social situation?

5. When she absolutely destroyed at The Tonight Show‘s “Lip Sync Battle “in 2014.

Stone delivered a pitch-perfect, warp-speed performances of “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled.

6. When she took on sexism in Hollywood.

“There are times in the past, making a movie, when I’ve been told that I’m hindering the process by bringing up an opinion or an idea,” Stone told Rolling Stone in December. “I hesitate to make it about being a woman, but there have been times when I’ve improvised, they’ve laughed at my joke and then given it to my male costar. Given my joke away.”

She continued: “Or it’s been me saying, ‘I really don’t think this line is gonna work,’ and being told, ‘Just say it, just say it, if it doesn’t work we’ll cut it out’ – and they didn’t cut it out, and it really didn’t work!’”

7. When she showed off her vocal chops in an SNL digital short about re-gifting candles.

We wouldn’t hate it if these hairstyles came back.

8. When she revealed to Vogue that her favorite foods are “French fries and Brussels sprouts, not necessarily at the same time.”

SAME.

9. When her repeated hair color transformations in 2016 were the most exciting thing going on in our lives.

She’s a risk-taker and we love her for it.

10. When her 2010 comedy Easy A spoke to us on a spiritual level.

We know she’s a serious, big-deal actress, but we respectfully request more teen rom-coms.

11. When she nailed the importance of self love.

“What sets you apart can sometimes feel like a burden, and it’s not,” Stone said, accepting her MTV Trailblazer Award in 2012. “And a lot of the time, it’s what makes you great. So, I know I kind of sound like I live in a van down by the river right now.”

12. When she had a really good attitude about competing on a VH1 reality show at age 16.

Stone sang Meredith Brooks’ “Bitch” on VH1’s 2004 show, In Search of the Partridge Family.

Don’t remember? Here’s a refresher:

“You go in there rolling your eyes, thinking, ‘this is just a reality search competition,’ but then you’re there for seven weeks, and you just really, really want to win,” Stone told Vogue.

While Stone has an excellent voice, we’re glad it didn’t work out. (She did end up winning a role on the show, but it never got picked up.)

How Sheryl Lee Ralph Plans To Make More People Aware Of Their HIV Status

Saturday marks the 20th Anniversary of National HIV Testing Day and legendary actress Sheryl Lee Ralph is helping to raise awareness by encouraging Americans to get tested.

Ralph’s commitment to the cause prompted the 1990 launch of her nonprofit, Divinely Inspired Victoriously Aware (D.I.V.A.) Foundation, which works to lower the infection rates of HIV/AIDS through testing, erase stigma and develop programs to combat the disease.

During an interview with The Huffington Post, Ralph explained the importance — especially within the black community — of knowing one’s status.

“Knowing what is going on in your body is some of the best information you can ever have. But the whole idea behind testing, it’s not just limited to just HIV and AIDS, when it comes to black people there is one thing they do not know, they don’t know their status,” she said.

“They don’t know their numbers around diabetes, they don’t know their numbers around cholesterol, they don’t know their numbers around high blood pressure. So we are really, really stressing that people know exactly who they are when it comes to HIV and AIDS and get tested.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV, and almost 14 percent don’t even know they have it. The black community is disproportionately affected — black people make up 12 percent of the U.S. population, but in 2010, they accounted for approximately 44 percent of new infections.

Although Ralph’s foundation focuses specifically on women and children, the “Dreamgirls” star said her initiative isn’t limited to them.

“You don’t just help some and not others. That’s what got us to this position to begin with,” she said. “Folks didn’t want to help gay people when it was considered a gay health crisis. Folks were very, very slow to come to help when it became an issue for people of color.”

“This disease doesn’t care what color you are, it doesn’t care what race you are. It doesn’t care about your gender.”

In addition to the D.I.V.A. Foundation’s mission rid the stigma of testing, the actress-singer is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of her annual DIVAS Simply Singing benefit concert with two special events taking place in Philadelphia in August and in Los Angeles in October.
