Christian Siriano Thinks ‘Fashion Designers Should Still Be Celebrated’ on the Red Carpet

Actresses in Hollywood have been making a powerful statement against sexual harassment on the red carpet this awards season in support of the Time’s Up movement. Stars stood together at the Golden Globe Awards by wearing all black and musicians joined in at the Grammy Awards by pinning white roses to their outfits. Supporting from behind the scenes? Stylists and designers who work tirelessly to pull together powerful looks for their clients, like Christian Siriano.

Siriano dressed 11 women at the Golden Globes and three at the Screen Actors Guild Awards so far this season, and he’s proud to align himself with the movement. He also hopes the creative process behind getting “red carpet ready” will continued to be honored.

“I’m glad all these powerful women are coming together and it’s time that their voice is heard,” Siriano told PeopleStyle at the launch of his new E.L.F. Cosmetics collection. “ fashion is still very important. Fashion designers should still be celebrated.”

Siriano pointed out that the red carpet is about “celebrating creativity and art” as a whole.

“It’s not just about showcasing the actors. The designers are being showcased. The hair and makeup teams are being showcased. We’re all in the industry together,” Siriano told us. “Actually, none of us can survive without the other, which I think sometimes people forget.”

Looking for more style content? Click here to subscribe to the PeopleStyle Newsletter for amazing shopping discounts, can’t-live-without beauty products and more.

He continued, “Wearing a beautiful dress is a privilege too because without that, there would be no red carpet to go on. It’s a balance about supporting all of each other, so I hope to see that more.”

Siriano called the all-black movement at the Golden Globes “pretty great,” but wasn’t afraid to admit it created quite the challenge for him as a designer dressing 11 different women for the event. “It’s been hard,” he laughed. “It’s been a really rough one.”

To donate to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which will provide subsidized legal support to women and men in all industries who have experienced sexual harassment, assault or abuse in the workplace, visit its GoFundMe page. “I remember we were doing a velvet gown and somebody asked for a velvet gown. I was like, ‘Oh, I already did a velvet gown, but what if she doesn’t wear it?’ It was crazy and a juggle of everything, but it all worked out. Everybody looked really powerful and amazing,” Siriano said.

To communicate empowerment through each look he designed, Siriano made sure each woman felt like herself when she put on the clothing.

“Debra was killing it. She was like, ‘No, I don’t want to wear a frilly dress, which everybody thinks I’m going to wear,’” he told us. “She told me, ‘I want to wear a pant and something cool and powerful.’ So that was fun.”

Georgia O’Keeffe’s Style Still Casting a Lasting Impression on Fashion

Georgia O’Keeffe was a source of inspiration for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first cruise collection for Dior as the label’s ads featuring Jennifer Lawrence can attest. After the Brooklyn Museum’s heralded run of “Georgia O’Keeffe; Living Modern” last year, the Peabody Essex Museum outside of Boston is taking another look at the artist’s disciplined sense of style with “Georgia O’Keeffe: Art, Image, Style.”
For the most part, the Massachusetts exhibition features most of the major designer pieces owned by O’Keeffe including looks from Pucci, Balenciaga, Zoe de Salle, Ferragamo, Marimekko and Claire McCardell, as well as pieces the bespoke tailors Emsley and Knize. And Estrellita Karsh, the wife of the esteemed portrait photographer Yousuf, believes her husband mentioned how the artist wore couture made by Christian Dior. In 1956, Karsh traveled to New Mexico to shoot O’Keeffe. That portrait hangs near the entrance to what used to be her Abiquiu home, which is now a museum run by the Georgia O’Keeffe Foundation.
“She really presents herself in many areas — in women’s rights, women’s independence. Taking herself to the desert and the fact that she was a schoolteacher who came to New York to a gallery that was in itself revolutionary. That was very,

How Ben Stiller and Cher Are Helping Hurricane Victims Who Are Still In Desperate Need of Water

Ben Stiller wants to make sure no one forgets that the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands still need help in the wake of the deadly hurricanes that devastated U.S. territories earlier year.

“There is a lot going on in the world and it’s easy for the news coverage to move on to the new thing, but these are our fellow Americans and they are still in need of our help,” the actor says of having his non-profit, The Stiller Foundation, partner with music legend Cher and Icelandic Glacial to donate over 600,000 bottles of water to the thousands of people on the islands who are still without access to running water.

“I am so glad I’m able to help in the way that me and my foundations has been able to but there’s something everyone can do. You don’t have to start big, you can help in even the smallest way and it can make a big difference,” says Stiller. “There’s a lot still to be done — and there will be for long time. We can’t forget about these people who need our support.”

“This tragedy has had a devastating impact on the communities, and water is one of the most basic needs to get everyone back on their feet,” says Jon Olafsson, Chairman and Co-Founder of Icelandic Glacial.

Adds CEO Reza Mirza, “With the assistance of Ben and Cher and the incredible reach of their voices, we hope that our water will not only reach the families in need, but also raise awareness for continued support from around the country.”

Cher first partnered with Icelandic in 2016 to provide clean water to the residents of Flint, Michigan, in the wake of their contaminated water crisis.

Why The Bachelorette Still Makes Chris Harrison ‘Cry Like a Baby’

Chris Harrison has watched people fall in and out of love on television for 15 years, but the emotional journey of watching former Bachelors and Bachelorettes find the one still gets to him — especially Rachel Lindsay‘s journey.

“I host so many shows, but this show touches me,” the longtime ABC host told PEOPLE at The Bachelorette: Men Tell All taping. “That’s why I come back and do it, because I care about these people.”

Adds Harrison, 46: “Rachel and I went through this journey together. You can’t be this disengaged robot. When you’re going through it, I’m sitting across from this woman who’s bawling and putting her heart out, how do you not cry? I think being a dad myself, I just picture my daughter going through this someday. I just try and be the right person for them and support them. It’s a weird thing as a host. You’re not a typical host. I wear a lot of hats.”

Lindsay is finally down to her three reaming suitors — Bryan Abasolo, Peter Kraus and Eric Bigger — but, getting there wasn’t easy.

After an emotional date in Dean Unglert’s hometown of Aspen, Colorado, Lindsay made the difficult decision to part ways with the 25-year-old.

“I cried on the entire flight to Dallas, and I cried all day leading up to it,” Lindsay wrote in her exclusive PEOPLE blog.  “I didn’t want to make a decision, I wanted to run and just go home and never have to break another heart again. But when my tears dried I realized that, while I do feel a love for Dean, I’m just not sure he’s in a place in his life where he’s ready to settle down and start a family in the near future.”

And Harrison, who has been right by Lindsay’s side throughout this process, knows a little something about comforting.

The host, who is father to son, Joshua, and daughter, Taylor, credits his ability to empathize with the Bachelorette to his experiences as a father.

“When I think of my daughter, when I come home and she runs and jumps in my arms, I cry like a baby,” he said. “I never cry. Probably the first 30 years in my life, I’ve never cried. All of a sudden you have a son and things change. But when you have a daughter, I know it’s a double standard and it even may be a little sexist, but it’s just different. They just get to you. They crush you in ways you never thought you’d be crushed.”

The Bachelorette airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

The mother of six, who suffered a stroke in September 2015 that ended her run on Dancing With The Stars, shared a message about stroke identification on Instagram Sunday.

Zolciak-Biermann, 39, said that her daughter Brielle shared the helpful tips with her and she wanted to post for her 2.5 million followers.

“As you know I had a stroke in Sept 2015 and when Brielle called Kroy to tell him something wasn’t ‘right’ with me I remember him yelling, ‘Brielle get her in the car NOW and take her to the hospital fast every minute count!’ It’s TRUE!” she captioned the image.

She continued, “And Im so thankful for everyone’s quick thinking. I’ve never seen doctors/nurses move as fast as they did the second I was wheeled in. I’m so thankful for my medical team.”

The reality star shared that despite lingering symptoms of the stroke, such as the occasional slip of her tongue or forgetting a word, she is “almost fully recovered” and is feeling “great.”

“I had my stroke at 37!! It can happen to anyone at any age!!” she wrote. “When in doubt please always check it out!!”

The message gave instructions on how to identify if a person was having a stroke by asking them to smile, raise both hands or say a simple sentence. If they have trouble with these tasks, it is important to seek medical help.

Zolciak-Biermann was competing on Dancing with the Stars when she flew home after a grueling practice with partner Tony Dovolani.

“I bent down to hug my son KJ and all of a sudden my left hand went numb,” Zolciak-Biermann told PEOPLE. And the sensation got worse.

“It was like a million ants were crawling over my body,” she said

Soon she was unable to feel her face or tongue.

“I’m always joking around with my kids,” said the Don’t Be Tardy star. “I do these Jim Carrey impersonations with my face and my daughter Brielle thought I was doing that! She said, ‘Mom, cut it out, you’re not funny.’ ”

Using all her strength to grab her daughters arm, the reality star made it clear she wasn’t kidding this time. Zolciak-Biermann didn’t know it at the time, but she was having a stroke.

“I kept telling myself, ‘You’re fine, you’re fine. It’s going to be over in a minute, just hold on,’ ” she recalled.

RELATED VIDEO: Kim Zolciak-Biermann Withdraws from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ after Suffering a Mini Stroke

The Real Housewives of Atlanta veteran was hospitalized for a mini-stroke and then underwent heart surgery after doctors discovered an existing genetic condition that required treatment.

“I have a blood clot, they don’t know if it came from my leg or my pelvis,” Zolciak-Biermann told E! “Most people have a filter so it can’t cross over to the other side of your heart, but because I do have a valve – they call it a hole, but it’s more like a valve that never closed when I was born – the blood clot was able to transfer and go through the hole, which stopped oxygen to my brain on the right side of my brain.”

In a way, the wife of Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann owes her life to her stint on DWTS.

“Had I not been so active with Dancing with the Stars and also flying – that’s probably what in essence caused the blood clot – it really is a blessing in disguise,” she said. “Because now I can really fix it and move on instead of having a true stroke where I never recover, or my doctor said a massive heart attack.”

“I think anything that has to do with your heart and brain is pretty scary, but I mean, heck, I’ve been through it, I’m okay,” Zolciak-Biermann said. “You really don’t realize how precious life is and how something can just – it literally happened in a second and my whole life changed.”

Gigi Hadid Is Still Very Into Pajamas And Heels

While you were sleeping, Gigi Hadid was removing buttons from her loungewear and adding high heels, succumbing again to the pajamas-as-outerwear trend.

The model emerged from her apartment in New York City on Friday wearing the low-necked, high-waisted pajama set of our most confusing dreams, along with some teetering white boots

It’s not the first time she’s rocked sleepwear with heels.

Pajamas have been a fashion trend for several years now, but Hadid and her crew seem to be embracing loungewear extra hard lately, and they’re taking it to a new level by adding heels ― something Selena Gomez was doing way back in 2015

Not gonna lie, we’d rather see some crisp, white sneakers with these getups.

Even Rihanna recently fell for the PJs-and-heels trend, sporting a silky robe-style wrap and fluffy heeled sandals at this year’s Met Gala after party.

No matter who tries it, we just can’t get into this trend. But to each her own look — and to all, a good night.

We’re Still Waiting For Jennifer Garner The Movie Star

The role of wife and mother is something Jennifer Garner knows well. It’s one she’s played in her last seven consecutive films, an identity that’s boosted her cultural relevance over the past decade, as her on-screen career has taken a back seat to raising a family … and, err, Ben Affleck

Films like “Juno” and “Miracles of Heaven” showed Garner making the most out of the “wife” character, delivering her best film performances to date, exploring the joys and challenges of motherhood. Similar roles in more forgettable fare (”The Odd Life of Timothy Green,” ”Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” and “Danny Collins”) have fallen by the wayside. And the less said about “Nine Lives” the better.

Those clamoring for a Garner comeback of a different sort won’t find much to celebrate in “Wakefield,” which opens for a wider release on Friday. Based off the short story by E. L. Doctorow, the film finds Garner playing wife and mother yet again, but the typecasting could be easily forgiven if the material was deserving. Director Robin Swicord, who’s made a career out of bringing women’s stories to the big screen, is at the helm of her first film in years. And yet here these identifiers overwhelm fleeting moments of agency, as Garner’s primary function is to service the evolution of a husband who’s, well, kind of an asshole.

“Wakefield” belongs to Bryan Cranston as Howard, a man who essentially ghosts his wife Diana (Garner) and children by going on a faux “Into the Wild” quest to find himself. Except instead of traveling all the way to the Alaskan hinterlands, Howard sets up shop in the attic overlooking his house, as he watches his family cope with his disappearance and presumed death. Apart from a handful of flashbacks where Garner gels well with a more adult, edgier tone, her scenes are mostly silent, taking place behind the attic’s glass window pane and through a pair of binoculars.

There’s a certain boldness in telling this story from the eyes of an unlikable protagonist, especially through the lens of a female director, and no one is better suited than Cranston to humanize an anti-hero. The film stays with Cranston’s character, even in his most arrogant and repulsive moments, as “Wakefield” is a deeply internal piece that strongly evokes its original source material. Exploring everyone’s perverse desire to pull the escape hatch on life is fascinating, but not allowing Garner a moment of respite under Cranston’s unrelenting gaze makes for a frustrating and far less dynamic experience.

In a recent interview with Build Series, Swicord addressed these criticisms, agreeing that the story is the very “definition of the male gaze,” but claiming that the film ultimately subverts this power structure. There is something to be said about Swicord writing and directing a film that unapologetically empathizes with a middle-aged white male in crisis and not his wife. However, if her intention was to provide commentary on the ways men come to view women, she missed a crucial opportunity in the film’s ending to drive her point home.

While Howard lives in self-imposed destitution, dumpster diving for food and communing with the town’s local raccoon population, Diana is left to her own devices. She later strikes up a romance with Dirk (Jason O’Mara), an ex-boyfriend and former work rival of Howard’s. Through flashbacks, it’s revealed that Howard was only initially interested in Diana because of what amounts to a pissing contest between himself and Dirk. It’s disappointing to say the least that Garner’s character so easily volleys back and forth between the two and is none the wiser.

Dirk’s encroachment on Howard’s so-called territory and an almost laughable come-to-Jesus moment during a rainstorm prompt him to return home months after disappearing. Before he walks through the door, however, Howard imagines the various reactions Diana and his family might have. In one scenario, they’re terrified, and in another, they break down crying. But before the audience is allowed to see her genuine reaction ― and a scene where she exists outside of her husband’s viewpoint ― the film cuts to black. The short story ends in a similar fashion, so the adaptation is nothing if not faithful, but the ending feels like a cop-out that unfairly robs the character of any semblance of justice.

Curiously, “Wakefield” was filmed during the nearly one-year period after Garner and then husband Ben Affleck announced their separation. The actor was painted by the media as a philanderer in the midst of a mid-life crisis (see: fake phoenix back tattoo), while Garner held down the fort, shuttling kids back and forth from karate class. That’s why it’s somewhat baffling that given the material’s fascination with a husband’s failings, Garner chose to work on this project before eventually divorcing Affleck this April.

As she raises her three children, the actress is increasingly selective with her film work, especially leading parts that require her to be away from her family for long stretches of time. Maybe Garner has fallen victim to Hollywood’s pernicious stereotyping of women over 40, or maybe she’s had trouble finding roles that work within her constraints. She could be seeking out these roles, as she can relate in one way or another. Or perhaps, she just needs a new agent

The idea of Garner strictly as a wife and mother in her personal life and in her on-screen roles might be the dominant narrative of her celebrity, but she has already proven that she’s more than her megawatt smile, dimples and Capital One commercials. Five seasons on ABC’s “Alias” shot her toward superstardom, and cemented her status as an actress who could kick ass and emote with the best of them. At least, the Golden Globe Awards thought so. And playing a deranged woman who develops an attraction to a priest in the little known short film “Serena” confirmed that Garner could, yes, go dark.

Despite making the most out of the little she’s given in “Wakefield,” you can’t help but walk out of the theater asking: What if?

What if Garner made as many films as Affleck in the last decade? What if “Wakefield” took the time to explore what it’s like to be the one left behind? What if Garner finally found a role that allows her to be the movie star we always thought she could be?

ABG Still Hopeful Varvatos Deal Can be Struck

NEW YORK – Authentic Brands Group is “taking a breather” in its ongoing negotiations to buy the John Varvatos brand, but its chief executive officer is hopeful that a deal can eventually be completed.
Jamie Salter, ceo of ABG, told WWD, “We love the brand, we think it’s great. There were just some issues we couldn’t work through.”
Sources say that includes working with existing licensees and negotiating severance packages.
Although Varvatos is losing a reported $ 15 million a year, ABG operates under a licensing model and if it strips the overhead from the brand, it can be economically viable.
Varvatos, which has reported sales of $ 325 million at retail, can be profitable if operated under a “consolidation model,” Salter believes. But if a deal cannot immediately be worked out, he said ABG will work with Varvatos’ majority owner, Lion Capital, to expand the label, both in the U.S. and overseas.
Salter stressed that Lion is also a part owner of ABG, with a 21.5 percent stake, so “the seller is also the buyer. So they have to be happy with the deal we make.”
“If can get everything worked out, we’ll do the deal. If not, I’ll will help my partner make John Varvatos do

After His Wife’s Death, Man Still Uses The Last Coffee Can She Bought

When his wife of 41 years died of skin cancer in 2012, David Hoskins packed up and moved in with his daughter to nearby Hazard, Kentucky.

Hoskins didn’t take much with him, but he kept two things: the last can of coffee his wife Karen bought before she got sick and the spoon she used to stir her coffee every morning.

Five years later, the 66-year-old widow still uses both every day.

“Looking at that picture of him with his coffee can, you’d never know that that’s all he has left of her,” his daughter Kim Hoskins Fields wrote in a now-viral Facebook post shared on the page Love What Matters on Saturday. “Because that’s how they always started their day was with coffee, and so each day he starts his day with my mama.”

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Hoskins Fields said the spoon and the Maxwell House coffee canister ― which her dad refills when it starts to get low ― are sacred items in her home.

“When he moved in his things, he told me to never throw the can away and to never touch the spoon inside of it,” she said. “He didn’t want it mixed up with my other spoons.”

“I kind of laughed and asked him why,” Hoskins Fields said. “He explained that it was all he kept because it made him feel close to her, like she was still there each morning.”

The couple had six kids during their marriage (two from Hoskin’s previous marriage), so couple-time was often in short supply. Every morning, though, they made time for coffee.

“Even when I was little and she went to work super early he would get up with her and have a cup,” their daughter said.

Karen’s diagnosis of melanoma in October 2012 came out of nowhere and he grappled with the news, according to his daughter. Two months later, Karen died.

“When she was dying, he made himself sick with worry and tried to save her,” Hoskins Fields said. “He begged and pleaded with God. He would have traded anything, gave anything or done anything to save her.”

These days, coffee is all Hoskins needs to remember his late wife.

“He says he has all the pictures and memories he wants in his mind,” she said. “He kept what he knew would make him feel the closest to her.”

Carrie Fisher Will Somehow Still Star In ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

Just late last March, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Carrie Fisher’s scenes in the next “Star Wars” will remain unchanged, despite her recent death at the end of 2016.

“She’s in [Episode] VIII, and we’re not changing VIII to deal with her passing,” said Iger of the upcoming “The Last Jedi” movie. “Her performance, which we’ve been really pleased with, remains as it was.”

But now her brother, Todd Fisher, is claiming that his sister’s memorable character, Leia Organa, will also be appearing in “Episode IX.” Directors had originally planned to feature Carrie in the movie before her death on Dec. 27, 2016.

Fisher explained to New York Daily News that along with Carrie’s daughter, Billie Lourd, he has granted Disney permission to use recent footage of Carrie in the future movie. A CGI recreation of the actress presumably still wouldn’t be involved as previously announced.

“Both of us were like, ‘Yes, how do you take her out of it?’ And the answer is you don’t,” said Fisher at the opening night gala of the TCM Film Festival in Los Angeles.

“She’s as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful,” Fisher also said. “I feel like that’s what’s happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue.”

Fisher didn’t know how Disney would incorporate Leia into the script, but it seems as if unused footage from “The Last Jedi” and “The Force Awakens” would be repurposed.

In any case, Fisher believes Disney and the filmmakers will “do great things.”

According to Disney’s schedule, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will be released Dec. 15 and the still untitled “Episode IX” is slated for 2019.

One New Jersey teen has a very tough decision to make — which Ivy League school to attend.

As it came time to apply to colleges, Morris Hills High School senior Ifeoma White-Thorpe decided she’d “shoot shot” and go for the nation’s biggest and most prestigious universities, WABC reports.

One-by-one, the results came in. White-Thorpe had gotten into all eight Ivy League schools.

“It was definitely a surreal experience,” White-Thorpe tells PEOPLE. “I don’t think anyone applies to these type of schools expecting that they’re going to get into one of them.”

Beginning with Harvard College, the 17-year-old was accepted to Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth Cornell, Columbia, Brown and the University of Pennsylvania.

“I remember when I got my Harvard acceptance, how excited and thrilled and how humbled I felt by it because I was just like, ‘Wow! Out of the thousands of candidates they get they chose me,’ ” she says.

“I feel like I’m still in a daze now that I think about it I’m like, ‘Wow! Is this really me?’ ”

As if choosing between the eight schools weren’t difficult enough, White-Thorpe was also accepted to Stanford University.

“At this time, there is no school that I particularly favor over the other,” she says. “I like all of the schools equally. Moving forward, I’m going to go to all of the accepted students days and feel it out.”

FROM COINAGE: 5 Financial Mistakes to Avoid in Your 20s

The teen is student government president at the Rockaway high school, according to WABC. She said she hopes to study biology and pursue a career in global health, noting that she wants to continue her research in cardiac arrest and the sickle cell disease trait.

But aside from that, the teen says she’s looking for a great social climate at her school of choice.

“I’m really looking for a strong community,” she tells PEOPLE. “A strong support system.”

While White-Thorpe was surprised at the good news, the teen’s mother said she expected nothing less from her determined daughter.

“She has always been a hardworking girl,” Pat White-Thorpe told ABC News.

“As a little girl, she was a great writer. I remember when she was in kindergarten. She spoke on behalf of the kindergarten class and it blew our minds away.”

Don Rickles Was Roasting Presidents When Colbert Was Still In College

Legendary comedian Don Rickles died Thursday at the age of 90. He may not have invented insult comedy, but he certainly was closer to perfecting it than anyone.

Here’s a video of Rickles performing at Ronald Reagan’s second inaugural celebration in 1985. It’s wonderful for a few reasons.

Rickles is a lifelong Democrat, but shows a incredible amount of class considering the venue and his style of comedy.

He also roasts a president of the United States and the celebrities of the day pretty harshly, something we sort of take for granted these days, where the line between entertainment and politics continues to blur.

It’s a lesson to human beings in general: you may be able to dish it out, but it’s almost as important to be able to take it.

Cole Sprouse Admits He Still Responds To His ‘Friends’ Character’s Name

Sign up for The Tea, a weekly email where your favorite celebs spill all.

Many of us know Cole Sprouse as Cody Martin on “The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody” or Jughead on “Riverdale.” But before he moved into The Tipton or became best friends with Archie Andrews, Sprouse played Ross Geller’s son, Ben, on “Friends.”

Sprouse recently spoke with the New York Post about his time on “Friends,” and revealed that he still gets called “Ben” by fans of the show.

“Because ‘Friends’ is on Netflix, there’s a renewed interest in [the show],” Sprouse told the New York Post. “Having responded to a Disney show for such a long time, people can call me ‘Ben’ on the street and I will turn around.”

Sprouse also mentioned that he had a big-time crush on one of his adult co-stars.

“I had a really, really hard time working with [Jennifer] Aniston because I was so in love with her,” Sprouse admitted. “I was infatuated. I was speechless ― I’d get all bubbly and forget my lines and completely blank … it was so difficult.”

Sounds like the Geller men have a type!

We’re loving Sprouse’s recollections from his time on the show. Though he might be Jughead now, he’ll always be Ben to us.

Why you should still trust Amazon Web Services even though it took down the internet

Why you should still trust Amazon Web Services even though it took down the internetAmazon’s cloud service went offline last week, taking parts of the internet with it. The good news: Amazon has addressed the issue, and is working to ensure nothing similar happens again. Indeed, the incident last week was an aberration that shouldn’t scare you into not trusting AWS anymore, according to two analysts we spoke to.

Here’s What Disney Couples Would Look Like Older And Still In Love

Your favorite Disney couples really did get their happily ever afters.

In the illustrations below, Pedro Fequiere of BuzzFeed imagines what Disney pairs would be up to after the credits rolled.

Cinderella and Prince Charming, for instance, are still making goo-goo eyes at each other and throw a damn good royal ball for their subjects.

Belle and Adam ― yeah, we forgot that was the Beast’s name, too ― continue to live in their castle with Cogsworth, Lumière and Mrs. Potts, who are thankfully now all retired. (They deserve it.)

Mulan and Shang and are still as sassy and competitive as ever.

“I could imagine them being really competitive at this age and training kids who want to be in the royal army,” Fequiere told The Huffington Post.

Now that Ariel and Eric’s daughter Melody is all grown up (yes, they had a kid. See: “The Little Mermaid II”), the empty nesters are busy traveling the world.

As for Aladdin and Jasmine, they’re in power following the death of Jasmine’s dad. (RIP, Sultan.) The Genie pops into the palace every now and then to sleep on the royal couch. (And of course Jasmine is still rocking the crop top and giving us major hair goals.)

Fequiere said he created the illustrations so fans could get a sense of closure over the fate of their favorite characters.

“Most stories start off with ‘once upon a time…’ and end with a ‘happily ever after…,” he said. “I thought it would be really interesting to see what that looked like.”

Head over to BuzzFeed to see the rest of the illustrations.

Is America Still A Nation of Immigrants?

The letter below was originally written after 9/11 as an open letter to a relative of mine who had worries about migrating to America. But it feels that it is especially relevant to our time. So here it is, revised.

Dear Cousin,

What is it like to be an immigrant in America these days? Is it still worth coming, you ask, and is the American dream still possible?

Your questions gave me pause. Who from Vietnam, after all, would have thought to ask them a few years back? Didn’t the American dream, or rather the dream of coming to America, cause the movement of millions in our homeland, and stir the soul of many millions more? It breaks my heart then to hear that you might not come. It is to me the worst news yet about my adopted country.

Yet it’s undeniable. The nation of immigrants is turning its back on immigrants once more. The immigrant’s hold on American soil has become increasingly tenuous. Even citizens now face a barrage of hate speech and many are being attacked in a rising wave of hate crimes. In schools, white students scream “build the wall” at their classmates who are Mexicans or Muslims.

“Build the wall” has become a racist mantra chanted by many around the country against non-whites.

2017-02-08-1486590726-9013476-gop2016trumpjpeg950be.jpg

Cousin, have you heard the metaphor of the canary in the coal mine? When it stops singing, it means the oxygen has run out, providing a warning to all.

In America, and in the context of a free and open society, often the immigrant is that canary. In economic down times he is often the first to be blamed. And amid the ongoing US war against terrorism, he is fast becoming a scapegoat.

After the 2016 election that ushered in Donald Trump as President of the United States, many hate-crime related incidents occurred in which the President’s name was invoked by the perpetrators, as if to sanction the violence and verbal abuse.

In the name of protection and security, immigrants’ rights are being eroded as I write. Foreign students and workers tremble. I’ve seen an old South Asian man whose hands shook at the airport when he gave his green card to immigration officers, fearing sudden arrest and deportation. I know an undocumented college student at Berkeley — he was brought to the US when he was three years old — who now fakes his address on any application for fear of being deported.

2017-02-08-1486590339-421738-H05_Racist_Trump_USA.jpg

‘I have my hopes’

Yet I have my hopes. Americans rallied at airports in protest when Trump signed an executive order to keep certain groups of people out of the country, including green card holders. The protest against the new tyranny is strong and ongoing. I have hope to that the damage Trump is creating both at home and abroad can be mitigated by his growing unpopularity. After all, he is dismantling international institutions that have been in place since World War II, potentially returning the world to a state of competing nations with hard borders, high tariffs, trade wars, and gun boat diplomacy, turning against the forces of globalization.

And worse, in turning against America’s liberal values and our identity as a nation of immigrant, we are losing our strength in diversity.

Over the years I find it beneficial to look at this country through two different lenses: America versus the United States. The United States is a sovereign nation with permanent interests that is currently waging a war on terrorism. And it will trample upon innocents in its path, be it at home or abroad, if need be, in order to win it. In the process, the newcomer to this country, one without a voice and resources, often becomes collateral damage.

America, on the other hand, has everything you and I ever dreamed of: transparency, freedom, democracy, opportunity, due process, fair play and the promise of progress. America is where you work hard and earn respect.

The two versions exist in a kind of complex dance. In good times, America leads. In bad times, America is forgotten and the United States dances alone. These days, I fear that to be a patriotic immigrant is to love the ideals of America despite what the United States is doing in the name of security.

While I understand the logic of permanent interests, if America is destroyed in the process, then what is the use? And as far as I am concerned the only good patriotism is a civilized one. Blind patriotism always leads to bloody ends. To be patriotic is to dare ask questions. Must rights be abused in the name of security? Is it truly the country’s interest to demonize its minorities and its newcomers?

Dear cousin, I hope I haven’t completely frightened you, but the situation requires honesty. To reach American shores these days is a much more difficult undertaking, with fewer ready-made promises on the horizon.

I still want you to make this difficult journey, but you must be prepared for the challenges ahead. And I’ll let you in on a secret about this American dream you spoke so fondly of: it is you who must renew it. Without you, who dream the American dream, the country is in danger of becoming old. Without your energy, we would weaken. Even if we don’t know it yet, we all desperately need to be reborn through your eyes.

So, is the American Dream still alive? No, cousin, not really. Not without you at the table. Not without you prospering. Not without you.

Game of Thrones: Season 8 Episode Count Still in Flux

HBO is gearing up for Game of Thrones to end with Season 8, but the network still hasn’t formally renewed it for the final season.

HBO programming president Casey Bloys explained what the hold up is at the 2017 winter TV Critics Association press tour, saying it’s a matter of finalizing the episode order for the final season.

“The only thing we’re working out is how many episodes they want to do,” Bloys told TVLine when asked why Season 8 hasn’t been officially announced. “They’re still figuring it out because I think they’re trying to get a shape of the season.”

Gwyneth Paltrow Explains How You Can Drink a Lot and Still Look Like Her

Gwyneth Paltrow may look like she subsists primarily on wild salmon and cucumber water, but the actress admits she’s not above a good junk food splurge.

In an interview with Leandra Medine of the Man Repeller, Paltrow dishes on the difficulty of adhering to a strict diet all the time. “I try to eat organic food when I can, eat local food when I can, and eat as little processed food as possible,” she says, “but sometimes you need a bag of Doritos and a beer in an airport.”

Medine also asks her if she “drinks a lot,” to which Paltrow responds affirmatively. But how does she maintain that perfect glowing skin while still drinking booze? The Goop mogul gives the response any true business woman would. “Because of my products! I swear by them; I’m not kidding,” she says. (To be fair, Paltrow puts her money where her mouth is — literally, she once ate her skin cream with Jimmy Fallon.)

When it came to her pregnancy cravings, the mother-of-two had to abandon all of her food philosophies. “I went from being completely macro-biotic, I got pregnant with my daughter, and if I smelled brown rice or salmon or vegetables I threw up,” she says. Instead, her diet consisted of “grilled swiss cheese sandwiches, french fries, Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream from Baskin Robbins, yogurt and apples.”

As for how she deals with her detractors, Paltrow has a healthy attitude. “I actually really like criticism when it’s constructive and helpful and I love imput, but when somebody’s coming to something with such a gender bias or a bunch of projections of their own s— on to you it doesn’t help me, so I don’t engage in it,” she says. “I just stay really true my vision. I see a bullseye way off in my future, and I’m just like going for it.”

Tom Hanks Still Loves How His Buttocks Looked In ‘Forrest Gump’

Tom Hanks can’t get enough of how good his butt looked while starring as the titular character in the 1994 movie “Forrest Gump.”

“I had worked out quite a bit, it was all about running and I must say my buttocks, as Forrest would say, were as firm as tinned hams,” he told “The Graham Norton Show” in footage aired in the United Kingdom on Friday.

Hanks noted how his wife, Rita Wilson, reacts each time she sees the movie on cable television. “I want to see that one scene where you’re running away from the camera, and we can look at that fine Hanks ass!”

Some 22 years later, Hanks admitted his rear now looked different. “But in the day, man, I must say I even think it’s a beautiful thing to behold,” he added.
