Ant-Man 3: Paul Rudd Thinks Fans Need to Campaign for Sequel

Marvel might have seven mystery MCU movies on their slate dated through 2022, but Paul Rudd seems to have some serious concerns that an Ant-Man 3 will be one of them. In fact, when asked about a planned Ant-Man sequel, he recently suggested fans campaign the “top brass” at Marvel and Disney to try to make it a reality.

Speaking to Yahoo!, Rudd simply responded “I don’t know” when asked if Ant-Man would get to headline a third solo movie. “You need to make a call to the top brass and start a campaign to make it happen,” he said.

Schiaparelli Thinks Pink With Second Chapter of RTW Line

PARIS — Schiaparelli has unveiled the second chapter of its ready-to-wear line as it gears up to expand distribution of the collection, available exclusively at its Place Vendôme headquarters and Bergdorf Goodman in New York.
Story Number Two, dubbed “The Pink Victory of Schiaparelli,” features a blend of sportswear and more formal pieces in variations on the shade that Schiaparelli herself dubbed “a shocking color, pure and undiluted.”
Four mannequins, clad in head-to-toe neon pink, greeted visitors at the brand’s Paris salon, where the collection was presented on Thursday. A sculptural hooded parka with extravagantly puffed sleeves brought to mind the showstopping pink moiré opera cape from creative director Bertrand Guyon’s last haute couture show.
“That cape was a phenomenon,” said Delphine Bellini, chief executive officer of Schiaparelli. “I think it’s the most requested piece from any of our collections in terms of editorial. We haven’t seen it since the show.”
While the parka was one of a clutch of made-to-order pieces, the collection itself focuses on sporty items, with a wink to Nike, the ancient Greek goddess of victory. A striking photo print spliced images of Hellenistic statues — including one wearing an American football helmet — with house symbols such as a heart-shaped

Virgil Abloh Thinks Streetwear Can Be a Trap

Virgil Abloh used the term zigzag often during his appearance at WWD’s Apparel and Retail CEO Summit. It describes how he’s climbed the ladder in fashion to launch his own line, Off-White, and land the artistic director position at Louis Vuitton men’s. Streetwear was how he got his foot in the door — the zig — but once he got inside he’s pushed himself past the confines of “streetwear designer” — the zag.
So far, the element of surprise, along with balancing his many other creative jobs, is working and he’s not looking to disrupt the industry as much as he wants to evolve it. In a conversation with WWD’s editor in chief Miles Socha, Abloh spoke about the sustainability of streetwear, how he avoids clichés, and what younger customers are looking for that most luxury brands don’t offer.
WWD: You trained as an architect, so you are an outsider of sorts to fashion design. Has this helped you to break rules and what principles do you bring from architecture?
Virgil Abloh: I first studied civil engineering at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and then architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology. But I would say my sort of education started well

Is Harry Styles Addressing His Sexuality in New Song ‘Medicine?’ Twitter Thinks So

Harry Styles surprised fans with two new songs recently, and has sent listeners straight to Twitter with questions about his sexuality.

The singer and former One Direction member, 24, performed in Paris on Tuesday night at the AccorHotels Arena as part of his current European solo tour when he debuted the previously unreleased tracks “Anna” and “Medicine,” the latter of which caught the attention of many due to its lyrics.

“The boys and the girls are here I mess around with them / And I’m okay with it / I’m coming down/ I figured out I kinda like it / And when I sleep I’m gonna dream of how you tasted,” Styles can be heard belting out in a fan-recorded video from the concert.

Though the singer has yet to confirm the inspiration behind the song, many on social media have dubbed “Medicine” a “bisexual anthem.”

While another follower referenced his former bandmate Zayn Malik’s split from girlfriend Gigi Hadid after two years of dating: “Ok ok yeah zayn and gigi broke up but let’s talk abt harry styles new bisexual anthem medicine.”

In addition, attendees spotted Styles’ reported flame Camille Rowe and his mother Anne in the crowd at the Paris venue.

Styles — who was romantically linked to Taylor Swift in 2012 and Kendall Jenner in 2015 — touched upon his sexuality in May 2017, telling The Sun about how he has “never felt the need” to define his sexual orientation.

“I don’t feel like it’s something I’ve ever felt like I have to explain about myself,” he told the British outlet. “Everyone should just be who they want to be. It’s tough to justify somebody having to answer to someone else about stuff like that.”

Later that same year, the star waved a massive pride flag during his first solo tour show in San Francisco, California, in September.

Styles previously shot down rumors that he was bisexual in a 2013 interview with British GQ.

“Bisexual? Me? I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure I’m not,” he told the men’s glossy at the time.

In the same interview, he called rumors and speculation over his sexuality funny, ridiculous and annoying.

“I don’t want to be one of those people that complains about the rumors,” he told British GQ. “I never like it when a celebrity goes on Twitter and says, ‘This isn’t true!’ It is what it is, I tend not to do that. The only time it gets really annoying is that if you get into a relationship and you get into a place where you really like someone and then things are being written in the papers that affect them and how they see you. Then it can get annoying.”

Christian Siriano Thinks ‘Fashion Designers Should Still Be Celebrated’ on the Red Carpet

Actresses in Hollywood have been making a powerful statement against sexual harassment on the red carpet this awards season in support of the Time’s Up movement. Stars stood together at the Golden Globe Awards by wearing all black and musicians joined in at the Grammy Awards by pinning white roses to their outfits. Supporting from behind the scenes? Stylists and designers who work tirelessly to pull together powerful looks for their clients, like Christian Siriano.

Siriano dressed 11 women at the Golden Globes and three at the Screen Actors Guild Awards so far this season, and he’s proud to align himself with the movement. He also hopes the creative process behind getting “red carpet ready” will continued to be honored.

“I’m glad all these powerful women are coming together and it’s time that their voice is heard,” Siriano told PeopleStyle at the launch of his new E.L.F. Cosmetics collection. “ fashion is still very important. Fashion designers should still be celebrated.”

Siriano pointed out that the red carpet is about “celebrating creativity and art” as a whole.

“It’s not just about showcasing the actors. The designers are being showcased. The hair and makeup teams are being showcased. We’re all in the industry together,” Siriano told us. “Actually, none of us can survive without the other, which I think sometimes people forget.”

He continued, “Wearing a beautiful dress is a privilege too because without that, there would be no red carpet to go on. It’s a balance about supporting all of each other, so I hope to see that more.”

Siriano called the all-black movement at the Golden Globes “pretty great,” but wasn’t afraid to admit it created quite the challenge for him as a designer dressing 11 different women for the event. “It’s been hard,” he laughed. “It’s been a really rough one.”

“I remember we were doing a velvet gown and somebody asked for a velvet gown. I was like, ‘Oh, I already did a velvet gown, but what if she doesn’t wear it?’ It was crazy and a juggle of everything, but it all worked out. Everybody looked really powerful and amazing,” Siriano said.

To communicate empowerment through each look he designed, Siriano made sure each woman felt like herself when she put on the clothing.

Legal Expert Thinks Cyntoia Brown Has Chance of Early Release: ‘The National Focus Helps’

The advocacy surrounding the case of Cyntoia Brown — the sex-trafficked teen serving a life sentence for murdering a man who solicited her — might help her obtain early release, a legal expert tells PEOPLE.

University of Memphis professor Steve Mulroy tells PEOPLE that Brown — the 29-year-old woman who, at the age of 16, murdered a 43-year-old man — could have her life sentence commuted by this time next year.

The decision to free her rests entirely with Republican Gov. Bill Haslam.

Haslam has been Tennessee’s governor since 2011, and his term in office ends after 2018.

“Usually, a governor will wait until the end of their second term to make any commutations. If he takes any action at all, it would not be until late next year,” Mulroy says, noting that Haslam has not granted a commutation while in office.

Last month, interest in Brown’s case spiked online when Kim Kardashian West and Rihanna both shared a post on social media featuring an image of Brown, and a statement about her case.

Rapper T.I. and actress Cara Delivigne have also used their platforms to shine new light on the case, and are calling on lawmakers to intervene. Kardashian West vowed in a social media post that she would have her attorneys look into Brown’s conviction to see if anything can be done to help her.

• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.

Brown, who was raped several times as the child of an alcoholic mother, was a teen victim of sex trafficking in Tennessee in 2004 when she fatally shot Johnny Mitchell Allen. The middle-age man had solicited sex from her, according to court documents. Brown becomes eligible for parole after she turns 69.

Brown said she was forced to prostitute by an older boyfriend who essentially became the underage girl’s pimp, taking the money that she would make. She admitted she shot Allen in the back of the head, but claimed she shot him in self-defense because she allegedly saw him reach for his gun.

Brown told cops she did not know who Allen was before he solicited her for sex. After driving to his home, she alleged he showed her his guns before they got into his bed together. Subsequently, she said, he reached underneath his bed for what she thought was a gun, so she pulled a .40-caliber handgun out of her purse and shot him.

However, the jury rejected her claim of self-defense and found her guilty of first-degree premeditated murder, first-degree felony murder and especially aggravated robbery.

Brown’s attorneys have stated their intention to file a clemency petition before Christmas.

Mulroy tells PEOPLE commutations are something of a rarity in Tennessee, with less than 1 percent of all such requests granted.

“But in this case, I think the national focus helps,” Mulroy explains. “There is also a compelling argument for commutation here. The governor only has a year left in office, and has tended to be more moderate than your average Tennessee Republican, who are tough on law and order issues. I suppose there’s a chance it could happen.”

Typically in Tennessee, parole boards consider commutation requests. But Brown won’t be eligible for parole for decades, says Mulroy, who has been teaching law at the University of Memphis for 17 years.

• For more compelling True Crime coverage, follow our Crime magazine on Flipboard.

According to Mulroy, Haslam could move to commute Brown’s sentence entirely, reducing it to time served, or he could shave off enough time to make her “parole eligible, which would allow the parole board to consider her case.”

From what Mulroy’s read about Brown, she’s a good candidate for early release by the parole board.

“The legal standard for commutation of a sentence is someone who makes exceptional strides in self-improvement and rehabilitation, to the point where they are no longer considered to be a threat,” he explains. “She appears to be a model prisoner and got a bachelor’s degree. In addition to the tragic circumstances that got her to commit the crime in the first place, and the national spotlight she now has on her case, since she has been incarcerated, she really seems to have turned her life around.”

Governor General of Canada Thinks It Would Be ‘Marvelous’ If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Got Married

Add another person to the list of those helping Meghan Markle and Prince Harry someday marry!

David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, told ITV that the romance is strengthening ties between the U.K. and Canada, where the American actress films her show Suits and has adopted as a second home.

“I think it would be quite marvellous and I hope it would be quite marvellous for him and obviously it will help to bring us together,” Johnston said. “But, you know, that reflects so many of the people-to-people ties that are so strong. I think about 20% of our citizens would claim British heritage so those ties are very strong.”

Johnston said that he “didn’t know” that Markle, 36, was sitting near him at the opening ceremonies for the Invictus Games in Toronto.

“ was alone but you say, I gather, there was a young lady in the audience who was watching him with great interest,” he said.

Markle was all smiles as she cheered on the athletes in the Paralympic-style Invictus Games for wounded service members from around the world. Meanwhile, Harry sat a few rows away next to First Lady Melania Trump whom he met with earlier in the day.

Toronto has become a special place for the couple. Harry made a secret detour from the Caribbean to spend time with Markle in her adopted hometown in December. The royal couple also spent Easter weekend together in Toronto. Harry also called Toronto a “home away from home” when he met with Johnston.

“Despite the distance, the media attention and everything else, there’s a real ease to their relationship,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “It just works. They are deeply happy.”

This Is the Book Sarah Jessica Parker Thinks You Should Read

Back in February, the American Library Association announced that it would be partnering with actress Sarah Jessica Parker to launch Book Club Central, a website with book picks and resources for readers. After months of waiting, we finally have SJP’s first pick: Stephanie Powell Watts’ No One Is Coming to Save Us ($ 18, amazon.com).

Watts’ debut, which was released in April, is a modern day retelling of The Great Gatsby with an African American family in North Carolina. We meet JJ Ferguson, who stirs up drama when he moves back to his declining hometown to build his dream mansion and win back his high school sweetheart, Ava. With lyrical prose, Watts timely novel explores race and the American Dream today.

Going forward, as honorary chair of Book Club Central, Parker will give recommendations for books for the rest of the year, with the next pick coming in the fall.

“From an early age, books were my constant companions and my local library a place I could find a new friend on every shelf,” Parker said in an announcement. “I’m thrilled to help champion original voices for dedicated readers as well as for a new generation, supporting libraries in what they do best.”

This isn’t Parker’s first foray into the book world, either. She has long promoted her favorite books on Instagram (among her recentpicks are Exit West by Mohsin Hamid and The Rules Do Not Apply by Ariel Levy). Next year, she’ll launch SJP for Hogarth, her own publishing sub-imprint within Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group. As editorial director, she’ll help find and edit three to four novels a year, according to the New York Times.

Ian Harding Thinks ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Fans Will Be ‘Satisfied’ With The Big ‘A’ Reveal

ICYMI, “Pretty Little Liars” is coming to an end and the secret identity of “A,” or “Uber A,” or “A.D.,” will finally be revealed in a matter of weeks.

But will fans be happy with the outcome? Or will we feel like we’ve just been strung along for seven years?

Well, Ian Harding, who plays Ezra Fitz on the Freeform show, thinks the ending will leave viewers “satisfied.”

“I think it will turn out well. I think people will be satisfied to a point, and right when it seems like it’s going to be really great, it might do a little [turn],” the actor, who recently released his memoir Odd Birds, told HuffPost during a Build Series interview Tuesday.

“With A.D., the one juicy tidbit I could give is I was happy that this person plays her thing … It’s not just some complete random.” (*wink* Yes, he said HER thing. *wink*)

Harding continued, “What I think is really great is that it’s somebody that we’ve seen before. I’m happy it’s not going to be like, ‘This is Amos from the country,’ or somebody that nobody cares about. It should be good. People will be happy.”

Harding, however, knows that “PLL” fans are very devoted to the storyline and will look into every detail until the truth is uncovered.

“I’ll see things on Twitter where people are like, ‘How could you do this to us?!’ And I want to be like, ‘That’s the point of a television show, to switch things up!’” he told HuffPost, adding that it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the series he’s called home all these years.

“It was such a wonderful experience and, at times, it was really horrible. It was just all of those things at once,” he said. “What I remember the most is the people I was working with and the cast and what we were doing at that time. I could not tell you the dialogue from any scene that Lucy [Hale] and I had … but it’s because I was talking to her about life and what she was going through, and seeing her grow up and seeing [myself] grow up. So that’s what I’m going to miss the most, because we really do feel like family in some way ― they feel like siblings of mine.”

To hear more of Harding’s thoughts on “Pretty Little Liars” and Odd Birds, watch the full Build Series interview below.

Donald Trump Thinks Exercise Is Bad For You

Nothing is safe from alternative facts ― even exercise.

According to Donald Trump, physical fitness is useless. As the Washington Post’s Michael Kranish and Marc Fisher wrote in their new book, Trump Revealed, Trump believes a sweat session actually does more harm than good:

After college, after Trump mostly gave up his personal athletic interests, he came to view time spent playing sports as time wasted. Trump believed the human body was like a battery, with a finite amount of energy, which exercise only depleted. So he didn’t work out.

The book also states that when Trump learned that one of his top casino executives, John O’Donnell, was in the midst of training for an Ironman Triathlon, Trump told him, “You are going to die young because of this.

It’s obvious that this belief is completely untrue (not to mention the fact that golf, one of Trump’s favorite activities, is a form of exercise). But since the statement is out there, we’re here to reiterate a few life-saving benefits of physical activity.

Take a look at just some of the ways working out can help a person’s health below:

1. Physical activity boosts cardiovascular health.

Aerobic exercise, such as walking, biking, swimming or jogging, helps prevent heart disease, which is the nation’s leading cause of death among adults, according to the American Heart Association. People should aim for 150 minutes of moderate activity per week to reap the benefits.

2. It helps maintain a healthy body weight.

Given that obesity is still slowly on the rise, this benefit is a big one. Regular exercise reduces body fat, fights against obesity and helps lower the risk of getting illnesses associated with obesity, like diabetes, according to the American College of Sports Medicine.

3. Exercise lowers stress.

You know when you just need to blow off a little steam? That’s exactly when someone should pound the pavement or sign up for a class at the gym. Research shows exercise helps people cope with everyday worries and boosts mood. Even further, exercise may have the power to reverse damage to the brain caused by stressful events

4. And it leads to a happiness boost.

Endorphins, which are little-but-mighty neurotransmitters in the brain, are released during bouts of exercise. Not only do they help increase happiness levels, they can also improve confidence and self-esteem, according to The Mayo Clinic.

5. Physical activity can make a person stronger.

Strong health starts with making the body stronger. Exercise helps with that by engaging muscles, improving joints and boosting endurance

6. It improves longevity and lowers risk of disease.

According to the Mayo Clinic, people who exercise may be at a lower risk for stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, cancer and arthritis (just to name a few).

Even just a little bit of exercise helps people live a longer life. Recent research shows that just an hour of brisk walking or 30 minutes of jogging or biking per week is enough to improve mortality rates.

7. Exercise helps you sleep better.

Running, biking, weightlifting, yoga and even gardening are associated with helping achieve better quality sleep than no exercise at all, according to research from the University of Pennsylvania. (And given that Trump says he only gets a few hours of sleep a night, this perk might be super useful.)

Just something to consider. Because the idea that exercise is terrible? It’s just…

Judd Apatow Thinks Trump Will Run The Country Like It’s ‘The Apprentice’

Judd Apatow, frequent Donald Trump basher, is opening up about what he thinks life will be like once the president-elect takes office.

In an interview with The New York Times, the “Trainwreck” director suggested Trump will run the country like the reality competition show “The Apprentice,” which he so famously hosted.

“I watched an enormous amount of ‘The Apprentice,’” Apatow said. “Donald Trump sits in his office. He sends his kids to watch the teams do their missions. Then they come back and tell him what they think of it and then he makes an impulsive decision based on the information that Donald Jr. or Ivanka give him. That’s how he’s running the country.”

Apatow noted that he wasn’t particularly surprised when Trump won the election because, as he has stated before: the funniest candidate always wins

“I said it as a joke, but I think there’s something to it,” he said. “Reagan was funny. Bill Clinton was funny. Bush was funnier than Gore. Obama was funnier than probably anybody who’s ever run for office.”

In terms of Trump, Apatow thinks the former “Apprentice” host “has a demented sense of humor” and “is way funnier than Hillary Clinton.”

Apatow, a Clinton supporter, did make a point of expressing his thoughts about where the former secretary of state went wrong in her campaign, saying she “made a few enormous mistakes.”

“One of those mistakes, to me, was that you can’t get paid that much for speeches and go back into politics,” he said. “That has to be your victory lap — you cash in, you do the speeches and you’re done.”

With Trump being sworn into office on Friday, Apatow plans to alter the way he opposes the president-elect.

“I don’t think it serves a purpose to be against him,” he said. “It only serves a purpose to fight issue by issue.”

Nicole Kidman Thinks It’s Time All Americans Start Supporting Donald Trump

It sounds like Nicole Kidman is keeping her eyes wide shut when it comes to the many potential problems of a Donald Trump presidency.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is a dual citizen of both the United States and Australia, caused some controversy this week when she encouraged Americans to accept and support the reality-TV-host-turned-politician now that he’s been elected.

“I’m always reticent to start commenting politically; I’ve never done it in terms of America or Australia. I’m issue-based,” Kidman explained in a wide-ranging interview with BBC Two about her film “Lion.” “So I just say, he’s now elected, and we as a country need to support whosever the president because that’s what the country’s based on.”

“Whatever, however that happened, he’s there, and let’s go,” she added.

Kidman went on to explain that, regardless of who’s in power, she will continue to support causes like women’s health. However, she didn’t seem to make the connection that those are the very rights that will be under attack when Trump takes office in January.

“I’m very, very committed to women’s issues in terms of I do a lot of fundraising for U.N. Women and I do a lot of traveling for them,” Kidman said. “I also do an enormous amount of fundraising for breast and ovarian cancer, because that’s something that’s affected my family deeply. So they’re my issues that I’m very attached to.”

Kidman’s comments strike a very different tone than her “Hours” co-star Meryl Streep’s speech at the 74th Annual Golden Globes on Sunday. While accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the actress implored Hollywood ― Kidman was also in the room ― and those watching at home to help “safeguard the truth” by challenging Trump’s attack on the press, foreigners and the entertainment industry.

Apparently, someone missed the memo.

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris’s Son Thinks Acting Is ‘Stupid’

It doesn’t look like Chris Pratt and Anna Faris‘s son Jack will be following in his parents’ footsteps.

During an “Ask Me Anything” segment on Reddit, the 37-year-old actor admitted to fans that his little guy — who turned 4 in August — is less than impressed with his and his wife’s career choice.

“He knows i’m an actor,” Pratt wrote. “But he thinks it’s kind of stupid. haha! I suppose he’s right!!!” (Pratt had previously said that his son thought he was a firefighter, which led to the question.)

As the Q&A went on, Pratt said his favorite actress was his wife, who turned 40 last month. Faris was mentioned in another question, when a Reddit user wrote, “Anna Faris from Scary Movie(s) or Anna Faris from The House Bunny?”

“Wow. that’s a good question,” he responded. “like a kiss marry kill thing? trick question. I’d marry and kiss them all. And I did!!!”

He was also asked to compare his real-life self to a fan-favorite, his role of Andy Dwyer in NBC’s Parks and Recreation.

“Andy Dwyer is the personification of my comedic schtick,” he said. “I have been making people laugh with that clown for years and years. Way before I ever did Parks and Rec. He not all of me. But I AM all of him, if that makes any sense.”

As for what he misses most about the beloved show, Pratt said, “I miss the cast and crew. I miss my friends. I miss the commute. I miss the fact it was a steady gig, all comedy, and took me 7 minutes to get to work.”

He addressed his past weight gain, and said he started his career in L.A. in shape, but he was not given any opportunities to pursue improv or comedy.

“It wasn’t until I built a shlubby exterior, which stood in stark contrast to my inner confidence that people gave me room to play,” he said.

Pratt, who stars in the upcoming film Passengers, talked about what it was like working with Jennifer Lawrence.

“Jen is awesome,” he said of his latest costar. “She’s funny and cool. She’s refreshingly tough. She’s an amazing actor. It feels good to be around her.”

He even recalled one of his favorite moments starring alongside Lawrence.

“We were sitting in our chairs waiting for the next shot and a big set light bulb exploded nearby and she screamed. high pitched. very feminine,” he said.

“Then she immediately looked over at me and said, ‘Jesus Chris! You scream like a woman! Did everyone just hear Chris?’ and for the rest of the shoot i couldn’t convince anyone it wasn’t me. I just had to own it.”

Passengers hits theaters on Dec. 21.

Bill Maher Thinks GOP Should Listen To Pope Francis On Climate Change

Bill Maher praised Pope Francis’ views on climate change on “Real Time” Friday night.

While admitting to have “mixed feelings” about the pope, the host did appreciate his views on this particular topic, especially in contrast to those held by many Republican representatives in Congress.

“I think it’s just awesome that this pope took on this issue,” Maher said. “I love that Boehner invited him to talk to Congress, and there he was the Grandmaster Flash of crazy non-evidentiary nonsense, lecturing the Republicans on reality.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Maher discussed British Prime Minister David Cameron, Kim Davis and Josh Duggar.

My Husband Is a Slob and Thinks I’m Type A

Reader Married to the Slob writes:

My husband thinks I have a chronic problem of trying to do too much and that my expectations of myself and everyone else are too high. I think he needs a kick in the ass because he is SO laid-back. The only reason we haven’t killed each other yet is because he is too lazy to follow through and I am too overwhelmed to bother with it.

He grew up in a household where no one cleaned or had a bedtime or anything so my normal standards for what is acceptable seem sky-high to him. His dad is a hoarder, so his standards for clean are very low. He is so laid-back and I have trouble just sitting and relaxing. I have always been a busy type person.

I guess I have high standards when it comes to a few things: I shower daily, I keep our kids clean, I go to the gym and try to take care of myself but I am in NO WAY a perfectionist. My husband showers like 2-3 a week and he never exercises. He does make me happy and I do love him, so these things just sound nit-picky.

We went to marriage counseling to sort out some of these issues after our first child was born. We now have 3 children ages 6, 3, and 1. I stay home with them. Our oldest is in school most of the day. We do not have a cleaning lady or any extra help; I keep our 2500 square foot house in order, in addition to cooking and laundering 5 people’s worth of food and clothes. I do all of the grocery shopping. I am happy that I can stay at home, but it’s just a LOT. Meanwhile, he is a huge slob … there are literally ants living in his car. They’ve been in there for 8 months.

In counseling we learned that I am anxiety-prone (duh) and he has adult-ADHD (not surprising). We both took medication for awhile and got on track and have learned coping mechanisms that have carried us up to this point. We are both no longer on medication, but I wonder if:

1. We SHOULD BE on meds?
2. Additional stress of me trying to have a writing “career” or “hobby” has put us in a bad place because I am unable to keep up with everything on my own?
3. I’m going to flip out one day and have a nervous breakdown?

I know this is a common issue but I don’t know what steps I should take so resentment doesn’t continue to build. I just feel irritated with him all of the time and I hate it! I definitely don’t want to be “that” wife.

Dear MTTS,

Well, given the general tone of your letter, it sounds like you’re certainly still suffering from anxiety. No shame in that.  In fact, over 18% of Americans suffer from an anxiety disorder.  Why not go back on your meds?  It may cut down on some of your feeling of impending nervous collapse.   And why does your husband not go back on his ADHD meds?  This makes a huge difference in many ADHD marriages, my own included.  Honestly, it also sounds like you might have ADHD as well, but hyperactive type.  ADHD people often find one another, and have very intense courtships.  This may explain how you can never sit still and seem to be a perpetual motion machine.  So get evaluated for that as well.

Next, why not resume your marriage counseling?  It sounds like it was very helpful and informative.  You don’t have to go for a year straight, but it sounds like you can use a tune up.  Plenty of couples do this in my practice, it’s not one and done.  You guys had two great support mechanisms in place: meds and counseling, and now you’re not using either.  Why?  Are there lingering issues of shame about needing meds or therapy?  Please reconsider.  And whether or not your writing is causing stress is something only you can answer, hopefully with a clearer head from going back on your meds and seeing a counselor yourself.

Next, I feel for your husband having grown up with a hoarder parent.  Read a guest post about this here.  It can be traumatizing.  It also colored his view of what’s “normal,” as any type of dysfunctional family does.  In our Western society, it is not normative for an adult male to shower 2-3 times a week.  I am just guessing here, but I would imagine that this impacts your intimate life.  This would be a great thing to tell him as lovingly as possible, particularly if it would lead to an increase in frequency of sex.

You and your husband need to be able to communicate using more empathy and validation for one another’s perspectives.  This is something great to work on in counseling.  You seem to love one another but the relationship has become fraught with irritation and possibly even contempt on both sides. You owe it to yourselves and your kids to work this out now, through meds, counseling, individual therapy, and whatever else you need to make it work.

Good luck, and keep me updated.  Till we meet again, I remain, The Blogapist Who Says, As One to Another, You Sound Type A, But That Showering Thing Isn’t Helping Anybody.

Roommate Dancing While He Thinks No One’s Watching Is AMAZING

They say you should dance like no one’s watching. But if you actually don’t want anyone watching, you should make sure that no one is.

That lesson was learned the hard way by this poor soul in the video above, who was cleaning up after a Halloween party whilst dancing to the Sheena Easton classic “9 to 5,” according to the video description.

The dancing is great and this guy has nothing to be ashamed of. See for yourself above.

Zach Galifianakis Thinks Being A Celebrity Is ‘Dumb’

Few people come away clean in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” a scathing satire that takes down Hollywood blockbusters, entitled actors, celebrity culture, entertainment journalism, critics and the entirety of social media with gleeful abandon. There are jokes about Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner and Meg Ryan that leave bruises. A heavy Oscar favorite since it premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August, and this year’s closing night selection for the New York Film Festival, “Birdman” sets fire to so many bridges that it’s a surprise Dylan McKay isn’t the screenwriter. (In fact, Iñárritu, Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris and Armando Bo are the four credited writers.)

The existential tone of “Birdman” extended to the all-star cast during the film’s post-screening press conference on Saturday afternoon at the New York Film Festival. Amid shutter clicks and Instagram uploads, Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Zach Galifiankis grappled with the notion of being celebrities in 2014.

“Being a celebrity is shit,” Galifianakis said when asked about blurring the lines between performance and reality for the film. “It’s dumb. I’m not interested in it. I like to be an actor and that’s it. The blurred lines are, I think, man-made. I think celebrity is a man-made thing. It’s not innate in us. We have people telling us we should pay attention to these people for the wrong reasons — their personal lives and that stuff.”

Galifianakis said the cast of “Birdman” — which also includes Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Amy Ryan and Andrea Riseborough — held views similar to his own, before making special mention of his dislike for “picture taking” (an ironic comment considering the audience was busy capturing photos of Galifianakis during his response).

“I’m just being honest,” Galifianakis said. “I would rather do my work and go home and watch Lifetime or something.”

“I think everybody is kind of a celebrity now. Anybody can be anything,” Keaton added. The 63-year-old stars as Riggan Thomson in “Birdman,” a washed-up actor who became famous for playing a superhero and now hopes to save his career by putting on a Broadway production of Raymond Carver’s “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love.” (Keaton, a former Batman, has downplayed the surface similarities between Thomson and himself. “I related less to him than almost every other character I’ve played, in terms of the desperation,” he told Lane Brown at New York Magazine.)

“While [the public is] enamored by it, I guess, and buy magazines, I don’t think [celebrity] is a big deal anymore,” Keaton continued during the press conference. “I think everybody is kind of their own celebrity in their own head, and they kind of are. We’re living in this really weird world where people are everywhere. They’re omnipresent.”

Or, as Norton said: “The dog who runs into a wall dreaming is a bigger celebrity than anyone on this stage.”

“I worked with him,” Galifiankis joked of the dog. “Great guy.”

“Birdman” is out in limited release on Oct. 17.

What An Organized Person Thinks When They Enter Your Home

Everyone has that person in their life who takes their organization just a little too far for your comfort. Maybe it’s your friend without kids or even your mother-in-law — whoever it is you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into when you go visit them. But what happens if they go to your place?

As the self-proclaimed poster child for organization, I’ll break it down for you…

What You Think I Think: I could never live like this.
What I Actually Think: I wish I could live like this.

Am I proud of my organization habit? Sure, or I certainly wouldn’t be a self-proclaimed organization editor. Do I take it too far? Absolutely. In fact, I am jealous of you for embracing your clutter and coming to terms with the fact that the world will not end if you go to sleep when there are dirty dishes in the sink.

dirty dish in sink

What You Think I Think: This would look so much better if…
What I Actually Think: I wonder if they have wine or I should have brought some over.

While I may look at my own stack of reading material and wonder if it is at a 45 or 90-degree angle on the coffee table, I don’t care if your magazines are so strewn about that we cannot even see the carpet or that you have books stacked out of size order in a leaning tower. I am at your home to spend time with you, not to critique it.

book piles

What You Think I Think: I hope they don’t mind if I start casually reorganizing.
What I Actually Think: I’m happy to help, but I’ll only do it if you ask!

If you invite me over as a guest, I am a guest. If you invite me over as an organizing expert, I am an organizing expert — simple as that. The roles do not overlap, and if you do want some help, chances are I will set up a separate time to dig deeper into whatever you want to accomplish in your space. At the end of the day, whether you believe it or not, dusting and color-coding are not always on my mind (but they definitely could be if you ask for assistance in those arenas).

What You Think I Think: And your cups don’t match because…
What I Actually Think: Can I have more wine?

This is a trickier one, only because I did graduate college and have just about zero desire to drink wine out of an oversized frat mug or a red plastic cup. That being said, it’s really alright if you didn’t order the fabulous new One King’s Lane wine glasses or made an effort to replace the now-mismatched sets you’ve broken. My cups match because I am a 45-year-old housewife at heart; yours don’t because you embrace the fact that you’re 25-years-old and don’t have a dishwasher.

assorted glasses

What You Think I Think: Why didn’t they clean up before I came over?
What I Actually Think: Thank goodness they didn’t clean up for me.

If anything, it makes me uncomfortable when you clean just for me. In my mind, it says that you think I am overbearing and judgmental enough that I would care that much about your organization game. In other words, please stop forcing stuff in your closet and jamming your clothes in your drawers because you think it will make me feel better.

messy closet

What You Think I Think: Next time, let’s go to my place.
What I Actually Think: Next time, I’ll definitely remember more wine.

If I avoided every place that wasn’t up to my organization standards, I would be missing out on some of the best dive bars New York City had to offer, I would be avoiding some of my best friends for an absurd reason and I would have broken up with my ex a lot sooner. I am a home editor at work, and I am a houseguest when I leave the office. It would be work to worry about anything else but cocktail hour and your company.
