Kim Kardashian Transforms Into Princess Jasmine in New Tutorial – and North West Isn’t Buying It!

Over the years, Kim Kardashian West has channeled many of her female icons — this year alone, the star dressed up as Cher, Madonna and Selena. And while her Cher hair stuck around for some time, there’s one other notable woman she’s dressed as on more than one occasion: Princess Jasmine (her go-to Halloween costume).  And now, she’s recreating that look, makeup and all, thanks to the skills of YouTube makeup guru Kandee Johnson.

In a new video with Johnson, Kardashian West morphs into the Disney character — complete with a long black wig, upward turning eyebrows and her signature tiara.

To create the look, Johnson first perfects Kardashian West’s skin with foundation, before applying gray eye shadow. Then, she “removes” the star’s eye brows, using Elmer’s glue to paste them down and Nars concealer to hide them. Next, she draws them back on with dark brow gel in order to create a bold shape like Jasmine’s, followed by a cat eye and, of course, the wig.

And Kim was so excited about her look that she FaceTimed with her 4-year-old daughter North West in the video, trying to convince her that she’s the Disney character. But North doesn’t fall for it, and instead responds, “You’re really Kim,” adding,  “you don’t look like Jasmine!”

And while she had the look down, there’s no hiding her signature Kim Kardashian voice.

North West Asked Her Parents to Create a YouTube Beauty Tutorial

Kim Kardashian may be a social media maven — with 104 million followers on Instagram alone — but she and husband Kanye West have other plans for their four-year-old daughter North West.
In an exclusive interview with WWD on her new fragrances, Kardashian talked about the importance of social media for marketing her businesses, from Snapchat’s candid nature that allows her to share her everyday life to using Twitter to communicate with her fans. Instagram, however, is her visual mood board without a conversational aspect.
“You have to have a thick skin — which is a given,” she said pointedly, noting that she’s in no rush to have her children follow in her footsteps.
“You know, the other day it was so funny. My daughter watches so many YouTube tutorials and videos and she was unboxing the My Little Pony Colourpop collection and I thought to myself, ‘I wish I was recording this’ because her reaction was so funny. And then she did makeup on the My Little Pony that they gave and she said, ‘Mom, I want to do a YouTube video,’” Kardashian recounted.
After the running the idea by dad — Kanye West’s answer was a resounding “no” — the two came

Facebook Users Have Awesome Responses To Little Boy’s Makeup Tutorial

A viral video is helping to pose a parenting question to social media users.

On May 13, the Facebook page VibeswithBae posted a video of a young boy doing a makeup tutorial. “You walk in to your son doing this, wyd?” the caption asks.

The video has been viewed over 15 million times.

Commenters came up with some awesome responses to the question in the caption. Their reactions as his hypothetical parents ranged from asking him to do their makeup to helping him launch a beauty empire.

Many also offered their own beauty tips to the budding makeup artist.

The boy in the video is named Jack and lives in the U.K. His Instagram account, @makeuupbyjack has nearly 45,000 followers. Jack regularly posts photos and videos of his favorite makeup looks.

While there were tons of empowering responses to the viral video, there were also many negative reactions from Facebook users who said they would punish him if he were their son and do whatever they could to put a stop to his passion for makeup.

In response to the vitriol, one commenter brought up another recent viral video, in which a 3-year-old girl demonstrated how to change the oil in a car.

“Not 1 comment saying ‘she shouldnt be doing that! Thats a mans thing to do! Slap that girl up!’” the Facebook user wrote. “Everyone commenting saying how clever and awesome she was! So why is it OK for girls to do boys things but a boy getting slated for doing girl things?! Let people, kids, boys, girls whoever do whatever the fuck they like!”

Young boys with more “feminine” interests have faced backlash for not conforming to traditional gender norms.

Last month, Ellen DeGeneres invited a 12-year-old boy who was bullied for wearing makeup on her show. A viral Twitter hashtag also recently illustrated the way expectations of masculinity limit young boys and promote damaging stereotypes that can have a profound effect for many years.

In this day and age, maybe it’s time to just let kids be kids.
