Glass is the Third Act We Always Wanted for Unbreakable

Warning: Spoilers for Unbreakable and Split follow…

Long before the MCU, and even before Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man film, M. Night Shyamalan followed up his massive breakout hit The Sixth Sense with a really solid take on the old “what if superheroes were real?” story.

Unbreakable, starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, didn’t reach the heights of Sixth Sense but in looking back, fans still herald it as one of the writer/director’s best and most satisfying projects. The way the story unfolded definitely seemed to set up “adventures to come,” though it also managed to stand very well on its own, as an isolated island work, without franchise goals. You could certainly imagine Willis’ David Dunn continuing his work as Philadelphia’s super strong rain-poncho’d vigilante while Jackson’s Elijah “Mr. Glass” Price rotted away in a psychiatric care facility…and that was enough for most.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux Wanted to Start a Family Early in Relationship, Says Source

When Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux got engaged in 2012, they hoped their happily ever after included starting a family together.

“When Jen met Justin, she had almost given up on the idea that she would have kids,” a source close to Aniston tells PEOPLE in this week’s new cover story. “They wanted to have a baby, but it didn’t work out.”

RELATED: What’s at Stake Financially in Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s Split?

While the pair — who announced their split Thursday following over two years of marriage — were disappointed kids didn’t come into their lives, they didn’t let it devastate them. “She has been sad that it never happened,” the source says, “but it never consumed her.”

For much more on Jennifer Aniston, pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.

The actress, 49, and the Leftovers star, 46, were immediately attracted to each other when they worked as costars on 2012’s Wanderlust. (They’d first met on the set of 2008’s Tropic Thunder, which Theroux co-wrote).

RELATED VIDEO: Why Did Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux Split? Everything We Know About Their Breakup

“From the beginning they had amazing chemistry,” says the Aniston source.

A film source adds, “They were always affectionate, loving an deeply respectful of each other.”

But their divergent lifestyles and increasingly separate lives on opposite coasts — with Aniston most comfortable in Los Angeles and Theroux out and about in New York City — eventually destroyed their relationship. “They didn’t really fight,” another film-world source says. “They just did things separately.”

Now the Friends alum is “sad and disappointed,” but “seems to be okay” in the wake of the split, says the source close to her. As for her future? “She isn’t a fan of dating,” says the source, but “she is a big believer in falling in love and spending her life with a partner that loves sharing hers.”

How Gordon Ramsay Lost Over 50 Lbs. to Save His Marriage: ‘I Wanted to Get in Serious Shape’

Based on Gordon Ramsay’s attitude in the kitchen, it’s no surprise that he went full throttle as soon as he decided to lose weight.

The chef, 51, who recently revealed that he lost about 56 lbs. after his wife gave him a relationship ultimatum, wanted to jump right in to training for an Ironman 70.3 race — a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run — when he started his fitness journey.

“I wanted to get in serious shape,” Ramsay told The Times.

His newly-hired trainer, Will Usher, quickly dissuaded him, saying that he would kill himself at his current weight. Instead, Usher started Ramsay on each part of a triathlon, but at lower intensities. Eventually though, they were doing long-distance swimming, rowing, running and biking workouts, plus weight lifting and core work, and Ramsay has now completed several triathlons, including the Ironman 70.3 in Staffordshire, England.

“Will’s a beast,” Ramsay said. Together, they go for 75-mile bike rides on Sunday mornings. “Does it hurt? S— yeah. I wasn’t built to cycle.”

Ramsay also changed up his eating habits, but only slightly, and said he would never hire a dietitian.

‘No milk. Just because it’s sluggish,” he said. “Almond milk with Weetabix for breakfast. Smoothie with frozen berries, yogurts. Dropping milk and cheese has made a massive difference.”

Though he’ll still eat it occasionally, and believes in treating himself with pieces of milk chocolate to “give yourself a buzz.”

And Ramsay now makes sure to drink plenty of water before he starts eating.

“It just stops you eating a third more,” he said. “You feel better but eat less.”

Ramsay says his lifestyle overhaul is “hard … but the benefits are extraordinary,” and he likes himself again.

“The more I train, the more normal I am, the more I feel that I’m still unchanged. It’s just another little reminder of who I really am,” he said.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Getting Botox In Your Groin

Most of us are familiar with botulinum toxin injections (commonly known by their brand names as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin) to erase facial wrinkles.

But Botox can also help people who suffer from excessive sweating, which is known as hyperhidrosis. In order to put a halt to sweating, it’s become increasingly more common to receive Botox injections in the armpits. And now, people are getting injections in their groin, as well.

HuffPost recently spoke with Dr. John H.Tu, M.D. from the University of Rochester Department of Dermatology and dermatologist for Dermatology Associates of Rochester. He filled us in on all the details.

To stop sweating, Botox is injected into a patient’s groin crease

“You have this sort of trough that runs from your hip to where your genitals are,” Dr. Tu said. “Basically it’s a crevice that tends to get trapped by the leg skin and the belly skin. It’s sort of the two diagonal sides of panties ― the diagonal panty line. This is where people tend to get a lot of moisture.”

According to Allergan, the makers of Botox, the toxin injections work by blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate sweat glands.

Sweating in this region can create a problem, especially if you’re overweight.

“People who are overweight would have a little bit of an overhang of the lower abdomen,” Dr Tu said. “For people who are thin, it’s less of an issue because they would have less of lower belly overhang that’s gonna cause the trapping of moisture. That’s not to say that it cannot occur, to some extent.”

Groin injections are generally administered every four to six months.

“The typical injections that we do for hyperhidrosis of the armpits is between four to six months because that’s how long the product lasts,” Dr. Tu said, adding that if timed correctly, the injections could be seasonal. “I would assume that given the area is about the same in terms of area coverage in terms of the armpits and the groin area more or less they’re about the same area. About six months.”

No numbing process is used for this kind of procedure.

“The discomfort is minimal,” Dr. Tu explained. “It’s actually more painful in the face than it is in the armpits. The nerve density in the armpits and in the groin is actually less than on the face.”

Several injections are required per treatment, but each injection is very small.

“The injections are not very big, they’re multiple little injections,” Dr. Tu said. “The purpose of doing the little injections is to spread the effect around the broad area. If you only injected one area you’re relying on the medication to diffuse out far enough to do the thing so you’re not going to get the spread of the effects. So you really want the entire area, the length of the injection area to get that effect so you would do multiple injections separated by between one to two centimeters apart, somewhere in that range.”

There apparently aren’t a lot of risks associated with getting Botox injections in your groin.

“In the groin area, [Botox] is injected very, very superficially ― it’s not deep enough to have any significant effect as there’s no actual muscle in this particular area,” Dr. Tu said, adding that there shouldn’t be any risk, as long as the person administering the injections knows what they’re doing. “And whatever muscles there are are such huge muscles, the tiny amount of Botox injected into this area isn’t going to make any amount of difference.”

Head here to read more about the side effects of Botox.

Less than 1 percent of people getting Botox get this procedure, according to Tu.

Part of the reason people might not be getting these groin injections is because insurance doesn’t always cover Botox coverage for hyperhidrosis, Dr. Tu explained. He conservatively estimated that for people who pay for this procedure out of pocket might be out around an average of $ 1,500 per treatment.

Groin injections can potentially reduce the chance you’ll get yeast or fungal infections.

“Botox is not a preventative measure. What it does is by reducing sweating, you reduce the wetness of this area,” Dr. Tu said. “And by reducing the wetness of the area, you can potentially ― I will not say absolutely ― potentially reduce the propensity to get yeast and fungal infections in the groin area. It will not by itself prevent fungal infections. It makes it less likely, because it keeps the area drier.”

Justin Long Wanted To Be A Priest, Until Girls Got In The Way

Justin Long didn’t always want to be an actor. In fact, he thought of himself more as a holy athlete.

The actor chatted with The Huffington Post on Build Series Wednesday and admitted that, when he was younger, he aspired to be a priest ― until reality set in.

“I wanted to be, well first, a priest. This will be funnier to you, a professional football player, and then back to wanting to be a priest. Then, I discovered that priests had to be celibate and so I figured that might be difficult,” he joked, continuing, “Then, I was into marine biology, I wanted to be a biologist.”

“Sadly, I love sports so much, but I was so small that I wasn’t able to compete. In high school, I needed a way to — it’s very embarrassing to admit, but its true— meet girls. It’s sad, but true. I will admit it, it was purely to meet girls, and so I followed my older brother into plays and I started to fall in love with it.”

Although he’s played a range of characters, including a boyfriend, a dodgeball player, an art gallery receptionist and a podcaster, Long has yet to portray a priest on screen, but “would like to.”

“A great role model for me growing up was my godfather, who was a missionary priest, and he worked a lot in New Guinea and started a mission there called Divine Word Missionaries,” Long said. “He was a Catholic priest, and yeah, that’s what started it. He was a beautiful man.”

Long has tried to take on roles that both challenge him and pique his interest, appearing in a variety of films from “Galaxy Quest” and “Accepted” to “Drag Me To Hell” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.” But his strategy for deciding on which projects to take on has changed over the years.

“For a while, I was so thrilled to be able to act for a living that I would kind of take whatever came around,” he explained. “My mom was an actress, so I grew up with the mentality that you just go where the jobs are; you just take the jobs that come along. So I wasn’t turning down a lot of things, for better or for worse. I ended up doing a lot of movies, one after the other, just because I love to work. [But] for the last couple of years, my personal time has been more precious to me,” Long added. “You know, the older you get, the more precious time becomes and so I’ve consciously been not taking everything.”

The 38-year-old is going back to his “Jeepers Creepers” roots to star in a new horror thriller that will freak you out. “Lavender,” co-starring Abbie Cornish, Diego Klattenhoff and Dermot Mulroney, tells the story of a woman (Cornish) with memory loss who is reminded of her horrifying past after discovering her abandoned childhood home. Long plays Cornish’s inquisitive psychiatrist in the film, which is now on iTunes and VOD.

“I enjoy the genre, so it was nice to kind of get back and do another one,” he said of the Ed Gass-Donnelly–helmed movie.

What This Mom Wanted To Teach Her Son By Shaving Her Head

Virginia Mellen’s method of teaching her son an important life lesson is a bit unconventional, but also empowering.

On Sunday, Mellen posted in the Facebook group Pantsuit Nation about how she first shaved her head in high school and then a few times in college. The look made her feel “comfortable, confident, and attractive.” Yet when the desire to shave her head crept up recently, the 27-year-old mom at first hesitated. Questions like, “Is this OK to do now that I’m a mom?” and “What will people think now that I’m older?” floated through her head. But then she thought about her 15-month-old son, Avi.

“I want my son to grow up with a mom who doesn’t make decisions about her appearance based on what other people think,” she wrote. “I want him to know that there is no particular way a mom or a woman is ‘supposed’ to look.”

Despite any hesitations, Mellen had her head shaved on March 11 and posted about the experience in the Pantsuit Nation group. She told The Huffington Post her son is too young to comment on her look, but he does enjoy feeling her hair with his hands and rubbing his cheeks on it.

“I think he enjoys the velvety feel of the short hair,” Mellen said.

Many other parents are into Mellen’s look, too. She told HuffPost that since she shared her post, which has gotten more than 47,000 reactions as of Wednesday, she has received photos from moms showing off their shaved heads and dyed hair.

“I love seeing everyone celebrate their individuality,” she said. “I have been surprised at the number of women who have said they wish they could shave their heads but they are ‘too old’ or ‘don’t have the face for it.’ But I urge them to go for it!”

When asked whether she had advice for other moms who might avoid doing something they want to do simply because they are mothers, Mellen suggested they “take a step back.”

“Ask if you have doubts because of what other people may think,” she said. “I am still a fairly new mom, but the most important knowledge I have gained so far is that there is no right way to be a mom. There is such enormous pressure on mothers to be a certain way, but I think even young kids can benefit from seeing our individuality.”

The Real Reason Why Joy Behar Left The View in 2013: ‘Somebody Wanted Me Gone’

When Joy Behar left The View in 2013, it wasn’t exactly her decision to go.

“Somebody wanted me gone,” she says in in this week’s issue of PEOPLE. “It was not 100 percent my choice.”

Up until then, Behar, 74, had been a fixture on the daytime ABC series since her start in 1997. The change came a surprise to her.

“When they told me they weren’t renewing, I said, ‘Good, I’m out of here.’ I didn’t like the way the show was going at that time,” she says.

For more on Behar’s story, pick up this this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands now

As for why, Behar says she never got a straight answer.

“The way I heard it, and I don’t know what’s true because you never know, they got rid of a Republican so they wanted to get rid of a Democrat,” she says. “That’s not the first time I’ve been fired for my politics. So I wasn’t shocked at that analysis.”

For the next two years, Behar made appearances as a guest co-host, until 2015 when she returned full time for the show’s 19th season.

With Donald Trump running for president, “I went back to do politics,” she says. “They told me, ‘It’s going to be smart, and we’re going to pay you more money.’ ”

FROM COINAGE: The Most Expensive TV Shows of All Time

Now, Behar says she’s enjoying her job more than ever.

“There’s something about The View that keeps people watching,” she says. “I think it’s the spontaneity, the unpredictability of what’s going to come out of our mouths. The relationships. Some years it works better than others.”

As for her future, Behar has no plans to slow down anytime soon.

“As long as my brain is working, I don’t see how I would retire,” she says.

Carrie Fisher Wanted Her ‘Fantastic Obit’ To Read Something Like This

Many touching obituaries have been written in the wake of Carrie Fisher’s death on Tuesday.

Yet, none are quite like the one the witty 60-year-old author once wrote for herself.

In Fisher’s 2008 memoir Wishful Drinking, which she also adapted into a one-woman show, the actress describes an exchange she had with “Star Wars” creator George Lucas about her iconic Princess Leia costume. She writes:

“George comes up to me the first day of filming and he takes one look at the dress and says, ‘You can’t wear a bra under that dress.’ So I say, ‘Okay, I’ll bite. Why?’ And he says, ‘Because … there’s no underwear in space.’ I promise you this is true, and he says it with such conviction too! Like he had been to space and looked around and he didn’t see any bras or panties or briefs anywhere.”

Lucas, who deemed gold bikinis A-OK in outer space, later explained to Fisher the logic behind his no-bras-in-other-galaxies rule, which she also describes in the book:

“What happens is you go to space and you become weightless. So far so good, right? But then your body expands??? But your bra doesn’t — so you get strangled by your own bra.”

She then reveals how she would like her “fantastic obit” to read:

“Now I think that this would make for a fantastic obit — so I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.

And Fisher fans on Twitter certainly obeyed:

And, at The Huffington Post, we’re honoring that too, Carrie. Rest in peace.

3-Minute Abs: Achieving the Look You’ve Always Wanted in Only 3 Minutes a Day

Do you think you need special equipment to train your abdominal muscles? Do you think the models you see in fitness magazines look like that all the time? Kurt Brungardt, author of The Complete Book of Abs, dispels those myths in this tiny but information-packed book. He has a radically different idea about exercising abdominal muscles: instead of working them all at once, he believes, you should divide the muscles into three distinct regions–upper, lower, and sides–and work them for three minutes each on separate days. The exercises he recommends are interesting and challenging, and he even includes a few dietary tips, noting that exercise alone won’t give someone the much-coveted “washboard” look.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Amazing ‘90s Costumes in Dope

dope-1

As we’ve learned from films like Sex and the City, The Great Gastby, and An Education, the costumes in some movies can often make as big of an impact as the performances (or the plot!).

Dope, the Sundance breakout hit about ’90s-obsessed kids who live in Inglewood, California and get caught up in a drug deal gone bad, is no exception. High-waist jeans, bamboo earrings, boxer shorts exposed Marky-Mark style, and tons of plaid shirts pepper the present day-set film. So, yes, while we cannot wait to see the stars of Dope—Shameik Moore, Kiersey Clemons, and Tony Revolori—make their movie debuts, we’ll admit the costumes have us equally excited. Here are fun facts to know about the movie’s seriously buzzed-about outfits.

Patrik Milani is the person behind Dope‘s costumes: The Italian costume designer is relatively new to the movie game, though, having only worked on four films prior to this.

Milani found his inspiration on social media: He told The Fader, “The main research I did was going to Instagram and looking under #Inglewood, #InglewoodHigh, and #InglewoodProm. I got into all of these peoples’ accounts and started following real kids who were students. Obviously I would pick the people who were more fashionable. That was a lot of really good research. I’m almost 45, what am I going to do? Hang out at high schools? I printed everything and showed it to the director and he was like, “Oh my god.”

Major players in ’90s hip-hop culture also served as inspiration: “Aaliyah was a big point of reference for Diggy,” Milani shared with I-D. “I wanted to help draw out her feminine side in a way that felt authentic for the character. At first, I was thinking more along the lines of Missy Elliott, but I wanted to create a more feminine silhouette. Aaliyah was so sexy even though she wore baggier men’s clothes, so Diggy stemmed from there. I also looked a lot at NWA for Tony [Revolori]’s character, Jib.”

Many of the pieces were actually sourced on eBay: In an interview with The Examiner he said, “Vintage stuff is so rare, that I found myself up late at night bidding on auctions on eBay—just to find the right pieces for the film.” Milani also hit up local West Coast shops. He shared with Refinery 29, “There’s a store in Sun Valley where I got a poncho for one of the characters for $ 3. I mean, $ 3 in Sun Valley! I think if you have a good eye, you don’t have to spend a lot of money.”

Pharrell also played an influential part in creating the costumes: As the executive producer the CFDA Fashion Icon helped take the costumes to the next level through his connections. “I only met Pharrell once, but I was dealing with his producer, Mimi Valdes,” Milani told Complex. “When she came on, she said my friend has this website Karmaloop, you can order anything you want. Since this is an independent movie, that really opened up my budget. The main kids, I had already shopped for, but the website really helped make the movie be what it is. Having Pharrell involved opened up a whole new world to me.”

There was one very specific ’90s trend Milani would not touch: “I knew I couldn’t revisit MC Hammer. I mean, it was scripted, but also, I just didn’t love that look, so I stayed away from it on purpose,” he told Refinery 29.

Nickelback Wanted By Australian Police For Crimes Against Music

Trashing Nickelback may be one of our great American pastimes, but this Australian police department just took hating the band to a whole new level.

The Queensland Police Service issued a tongue-in-cheek BOLO (Be On The Lookout) warning to locals via Facebook that the much maligned Canadian group would be bringing their crimes against music to the area. The faux wanted poster mocks the band for “impersonating musicians.”

Police are on the lookout for these men who are believed to be impersonating musicians around Boondall this…

Posted by Queensland Police Service on Tuesday, May 19, 2015

The quartet has been widely seen as a musical public enemy for decades. They were once deemed the second worst rock band of the ’90s in Rolling Stone.

Despite the disdain, Nickelback is still going strong and played in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday.

Elitist haters, the New York Times mused, might be what gives Nickelback “a foundation on which to build an enduring fan base in the shrunken marketplace of the digital age,” despite being slammed for a commercial, formulaic sound and insincere lyrics.

Based on frontman Chad Kroeger’s reaction to an online petition to ban the band from the United Kingdom last fall, we’d guess he isn’t sweating the Queensland police.

“All these critics, they’re just tireless,” he told The Pulse of Radio in October. “They keep ragging on the band. If they had stopped writing all this stuff about us, there would be no controversy left in the band and we probably would have died out years ago. They don’t know that they’re still responsible for us being around today.”

India May Have Just Published Its First ‘Gay Groom Wanted’ Ad

An newspaper in India — where gay sex was made a criminal offense in 2013 — just ran what may be the country’s first man-seeking-man matrimonial ad.

The ad, which ran this week in MiD DAY, an English-language newspaper in India, seeks a husband for Mumbai-based equal rights activist Harish Iyer. Iyer’s mother submitted the ad and was rejected by three other publications before MiD DAY accepted it.

In a Facebook post, Iyer thanked MiD DAY and its editor, Sachin Kalbag, and shared an image of the ad originally posted by Gaysi Family, an India-based gay rights group.

thanks Mid-day, thanks Sachin Kalbag

Posted by Harrish Iyer on Tuesday, May 19, 2015

The ad, which reads, “Seeking 25-40, Well-placed, Animal-Loving, Vegetarian GROOM for my SON (36, 5’11”) who works with an NGO, Caste No Bar (Though IYER Preferred),” was rejected by The Times of India, The Hindustan Times and the website dna, Iyer told BuzzFeed.

None of those publications responded immediately to HuffPost’s request for comment.

The ad has sparked some criticism for its closing parenthetical, “Though IYER Preferred.” Iyers are an upper-class rank of India’s caste system with which Iyer shares a name. He defended that portion of the ad to HuffPost India, saying it was a way for his family to try and match him with someone of a similar upbringing.

“My Mom would be happy if it was a Dalit Muslim yet vegetarian and animal loving guy,” Iyer said. “But she would love it if he happens to come from a familiar territory that she knows about. So, not really caste discrimination. It’s like you (author) saying that I would love people from any caste as an alliance, but I would love to enjoy machher jhol (fish curry, a Bengali staple) with him if he was Bengali.”

Although The Times of India refused to print the ad, it interviewed Iyer about his decision to create one.

“My mom worries about me too much,” he told the paper. “She is constantly thinking that I am getting old, will be alone, and all those concerns a mother has. So, she and I had a discussion last week and decided to go ahead with placing a matrimonial ad looking for a gay person.”

“My mum called me this morning saying three people have responded so far,” Iyer continued. “She asked me what to do next, how to proceed, so I told her, ‘proceed like you would have if you were looking for a girl for me.'”

In a statement to BuzzFeed, Kalbag said running the ad was a no-brainer.

“A marriage is a meeting of minds, of souls,” he wrote. “At mid-day, we believe that human rights should be applicable to all, regardless of religion, caste, colour, sexual orientation, etc. Therefore, a mother seeking a union for her gay son is perfectly normal. Why should it be any different? In fact, why should we even be talking about it? In an equal society, which we all strive for, this should be routine.”
