Lucy Liu Wants to #BringArtBackToSchools After Her Childhood Passion Changed Her Life

Lucy Liu has school art programs to thank for her success as an actress.

The Kill Bill star, 49, tells PEOPLE she mined her creativity by exploring her artistic hobbies at school. Growing up, Liu says, her parents didn’t encourage art in their home. The only time she could explore that side of herself, she says, was in school.

“It actually changed my life completely because since we were so math and science oriented,” she recalls. “When I started to get involved and do art on my own and at school in those programs, I was able to understand that I really wanted to have a creative life. Once I graduated from school I obviously pursued that and continued to pursue it even though my parents were not thrilled about that.”

That’s why Liu says she is partnering up with LIFEWTR, the premium bottled water company, and the brand’s “Arts in Education Series” on Arts Advocacy Day to drive conversation around the importance of arts in education and help #BringArtBackToSchools. On Monday, the actress posted about the campaign to her Instagram alongside a message on how her fans can get involved and help their local schools receive free art kits from LIFEWTR.

“Today, @LIFEWTR is announcing a commitment to reach one million students nationwide in the next year through curated curriculum, distribution of art supplies and local partnerships to champion this cause and inspire the next generation of artists like myself,” she wrote. “Please join me and share your story about how art has had a positive impact on you or someone you know, zip code and #BringArtBackToSchools. They’ll be donating art kits to classrooms in select schools across the country.”

The initiative combines two of the things Liu is most passionate about. As a mom herself to 2-and-a-half-year-old Rockwell Lloyd, the Elementary actress says it’s important to make sure kids explore their creativity when young.

“I have a few focuses. One of them is children, the other one is art and the other one is acting,” Liu says. “With kids especially, there’s a certain freedom that they have with the way they express themselves and that’s what we should tap into now. And what I love about what LIFEWTR is doing is they’re advocating for that and they’re advocating for people to have an opportunity to discover themselves as artists and to inspire other people.”

Rugby-Inspired Aedelhard Wants Men to Join Its Team

The new men’s wear brand Aedelhard believes rugby teaches important values and lessons to its participants, and has aligned itself with the sport. That the game can be intensely competitive and at times violent is not lost on the brand.
“Beneath the seeming barbarism and occasional debauchery often associated with rugby lives a sport rooted in respect and a strict code of conduct,” Aedelhard declares on its web site. “It’s a game that instills teamwork and discipline.”
The sport has given the world one of the most enduring pieces of fashion — the rugby shirt. It’s that side of rugby that Aedelhard is tapping into, the “sport, intellect, sophistication and gentlemanly conduct — all derived from the game,” said Darrell Kopke, Aedelhard’s cofounder and chief executive officer.

“Dressing well is a form of good manners, and we’re simplifying the process with pieces that are easy to combine, accessibly priced, well-made and designed with intention,” added Michael Nguyen, cofounder and creative director.

Aedelhard wants to disrupt the technical apparel market with elevated, classically tailored and functional performance apparel. The company considers its pricing disruptive, with trousers retailing for $ 150, blazers, $ 380 and shirting, $ 120. “We’re bringing tailoring for the masses,” said Kopke.

Iman Shumpert Wants to Be More Than an NBA Player

When WWD interviewed NBA player Iman Shumpert three years ago, his life was much different. Shumpert’s girlfriend at the time, artist Teyana Taylor, is now his wife, and they have an almost two-year-old daughter named Iman Jr. and nicknamed Junie — he’s set to star in a VH1 reality TV show with his family next year.
Shumpert also looks and behaves differently. He’s cut off his signature high top fade — he explains why later on — and feels less inhibited by what it typically means to be a basketball player.
“I’m playing ball. I’m rapping. I’m doing my clothing line, but every time I try to do the other stuff people say that I’m not focused on basketball,” said Shumpert, sounding frustrated. “It doesn’t make sense.”
Despite this, Shumpert is diving deeper into his creative endeavors and relaunching his clothing line, Post 90s, next year, and helping raise money for the hurricane victims in St. Maarten with a jersey he’s designed with his brother. Here, the Cleveland Cavaliers player talks about kneeling during the national anthem, working with fashion brands and his other projects.

Lanvin’s New CEO Wants to Bolster Ties With Art

ARTISTIC DIRECTION: Lanvin’s new chief wants to strengthen its ties with the art world.
In a private presentation on Monday at its men’s flagship in Paris, Nicolas Druz, chief executive officer of Lanvin, displayed a sculpture attributed to Constantin Brâncuși, which he said dated from 1905 and was the earliest known example of the artist’s series of The Kiss sculptures.
“It’s a return to the DNA of Jeanne Lanvin,” Druz, who returned to the brand over the summer as part of a management reshuffle, told WWD. “We need to link Lanvin with art. We are developing a street art project as well.”
The executive believes the Brâncuși sculpture, whose authenticity has been contested, is one of the founding works of contemporary art. Among the guests was Thierry Rayer, a researcher who has delved into the sculpture’s meaning from the point of view of science, mathematics, Egyptology and Freemasonry, among others.
Druz said the brand would be producing a book of photographs of the sculpture and other works drawn from Rayer’s private collection. It also plans to design numbered T-shirts featuring the art work that will be auctioned off to benefit Secours Populaire, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting poverty in France.

Bill Gates Wants You To Read Trevor Noah’s Memoir This Summer

Deepen your mind while you deepen your tan.

Microsoft founder, philanthropist and avid bookworm Bill Gates has a few book recommendations for the summer. Each of the titles, which he listed in a blog post on Monday, are meant to help readers better understand the larger world around them.

“Some of these books helped me better understand what it’s like to grow up outside the mainstream,” Gates wrote. “As a child of mixed race in apartheid South Africa, as a young man trying to escape his impoverished life in rural Appalachia, or as the son of a peanut farmer in Plains, Georgia.”

He adds, “I hope you’ll find that others make you think deeper about what it means to truly connect with other people and to have purpose in your life. And all of them will transport you somewhere else — whether you’re sitting on a beach towel or on your own couch.”

One book Gates recommends is Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah of “The Daily Show,” which details the comedian’s life growing up in apartheid South Africa.

“I loved reading this memoir about how [the] host honed his outsider approach to comedy over a lifetime of never quite fitting in,” Gates wrote.

To find out Gates four other picks, just watch the video above. Happy reading!

Amber Heard Wants Every Closeted Gay Man In Hollywood To Come Out

Amber Heard has no time for closeted gay celebrities.

Speaking at the The Economist’s Pride and Prejudice Summit March 23, the “Magic Mike XXL” and “The Danish Girl” star recalled the media firestorm that she faced after coming out as bisexual in 2010. In the end, the 30-year-old actress said that opening up about her sexuality was worth it ― and she encouraged other LGBTQ stars and public figures to follow her lead.

“Even though everyone around me strongly advised me against it, it was just wrong. I would’ve rather go down for being who I am than to have risen for being something I’m not,” Heard told The Economist’s Deputy Editor Tom Standage.

She finally confirmed her sexuality, she said, when an After Ellen reporter asked her about the status of her relationship with then-girlfriend Tasya van Ree at the 2010 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles. “I refused to not bring my partner at the time, but no one ever asked me about it,” Heard said. “An outlet specifically asked me who I was there with that night and who that person was to me and I just answered honestly.”

It didn’t take long for Heard to, as she put it, “realize the gravity” of what coming out would do. She acknowledged having some initial setbacks, including Hollywood execs who suddenly doubted her credibility as a romantic leading lady. Still, she noted, “While my private life is valuable to me, I knew that, being in Hollywood, I had a particular responsibility… I saw myself as being in this unique position with this unique gift. Any unique gift comes with unique responsibility.”

When Standage noted that many of the best-known LGBTQ celebrities to come out in recent years were women, Heard agreed. “Women are almost entirely doing this on our own,” she said. “While it is apparently harder for men, I would argue, also, that is harder because there are no men challenging that. If women can do it and we can change the way that this conversation is had in a large scale, then men should be able to do it.”

Heard, who said she’d like to play an LGBTQ character in a movie moving forward, then added, “If every gay man that I know personally came out in Hollywood tomorrow… then this would be a non-issue in a month. We’d be hard-pressed to point the finger at anyone.”

Watch Standage’s full interview with Heard below.

Dave Chappelle Wants Comedians To Stop Making The Same Donald Trump Jokes

Saturday Night Live” is experiencing a creative renaissance and its biggest ratings in two decades under Donald Trump’s presidency. But Dave Chappelle has a message for fellow comedians enjoying the fruits of the administration’s blunders: “Trump’s kind of bad for comedy.”

Speaking with CBC on Sunday, Chappelle offered his take on the current president’s relationship with his chosen profession, agreeing that comedy has “a role to play under Trump,” but warning that there’s a risk of regurgitating the same material.

“Most comics in the states are starting to do the same jokes, just because Trump is so on everybody’s mind,” he said. “So it’ll be nice when we don’t have to talk about him that much.”

Despite his concerns over Trump’s omnipresence, Chappelle said he still believes the state of comedy today is “strong and healthy,” citing the return of some of his favorites like Chris Rock and Jon Stewart to the game.

“I think that most of these guys you see working are wildly courageous,” he explained. “It’s such a strange time, being bombarded with so much information, and I think comedy is an important valve for syphoning through all that.”

In November, Chappelle hosted the first “Saturday Night Live” episode after the election and delivered a stirring opening monologue in response to Trump’s surprise win. After joking that America actually elected “an internet troll as our president,” he recalled a recent visit to the White House for a BET event that made him feel hopeful about the country’s direction.

“I saw how happy everybody was, these people who had been historically disenfranchised, and it made me feel hopeful, and it made me feel proud to be an American,” Chappelle said. “So, in that spirit, I’m wishing Donald Trump luck. I’m going to give him a chance, and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too.”

For more from Chappelle, you can watch his two comedy specials that premiere on Netflix this month.

Topshop Wants You To Buy ‘Mom Jeans’ With Clear Plastic Kneecaps

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Hey, I really wish my kneecaps would sweat more,” or, “Man, I wish people could get a better look at my kneecaps, but I’m wearing jeans?”

Well you’re in luck, because Topshop is now selling jeans with clear plastic kneecap covers sewn in. We’re not quite sure who the intended audience is for these poorly-named “Clear Panel Mom Jeans” from Topshop.

But for only $ 95, these jeans can be yours.

Though the internet only recently discovered this interesting piece of plastic disguised as clothing, people who have bought the Topshop jeans on Nordstrom only had rave reviews about the pants (though the comments look like they were probably left by trolls).

The jeans currently have three separate reviews ― all giving the item five stars ― with titles like “Love my kneecaps!” “I don’t have kids- they STILL fit!!” and “Great style, great comfort… great pants!”

“I’ve always loved my kneecaps. So when I saw this pair of see-through kneecapped jeans, I had to get my hands on them! YOLO,” one reviewer wrote, though it’s unclear if they’re trolling us all or not.

Another reviewer made it clear that these jeans “aren’t just for mom’s [sic],” thank goodness!

“My friends and I all bought a pair,” the reviewer wrote. “It’s been a long winter, we can still have that super fashionable skin through denim look, and stay warm! These jeans are totally on fleek!”

YOLO? On fleek? Who is paying people to write these things? Certainly not the people who reviewed the jeans on Twitter:

Though as Twitter user sdpowell1 pointed out, Topshop has a few other pairs of interesting jeans for sale on its website (including ones with mesh kneecaps):

At least it’s better than Nordstrom selling actual rocks for a cool $ 85.

But if you see the elusive “mom” that would wear these jeans in the wild, let us know in the comments below.

Lauren Jauregui Wants Fifth Harmony’s Diversity To Empower Girls

In an interview with Nylon, Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui shares her thoughts on politics, feminism and her experience at the Women’s March on Washington.

Back in November, Jauregui wrote an open letter to Donald Trump supporters, in which she also came out as bisexual. Since then, the singer has not been shy about sharing her political views with her fans and most recently marched alongside thousands in Washington, an experience she called “the most incredible day of my life.”

When Nylon asked her about Fifth Harmony’s role in society, beyond the music scene, Jauregui explained, “Some of our songs are empowering, but I feel like more so than our music, it’s who we are.” She continued, “We’re four women who are completely different ethnicities, completely different body types, completely different walks of life and opinions.” She goes on to say that she wants the group’s diversity to empower women and encourage fans to celebrate their differences. We sure feel inspired over here!

“We have an energy about us that’s so unique and so intense, and it’s because of how much power we have in us as individuals, being confident, harnessing that power, and wanting to share that with other women.”

You can read the rest of her Nylon interview here.

Gwyneth Paltrow Wants You To Put This Egg In Your Vagina

This is it, people: We’ve reached peak Goop-dom.

Gwyneth Paltrow is trying to sell you an egg to insert in your vagina even as doctors warn women not to try it.

Paltrow’s infamous lifestyle site recently interviewed “beauty guru/healer” Shiva Rose for an article titled “Better Sex: Jade Eggs for Your Yoni.” Rose, an actress who has a line of natural skincare products, described the supposed muscle benefits of inserting the egg-shaped jade stone into your body, saying the practice has roots in Chinese royalty and concubines.

In addition to claiming the egg balanced out her hormones, Rose said it also made her “whole cycle much, much more regular,” and she even feels people are “more attracted to you” when you’re carrying one.

Rose speaks of the jade egg with such fervor and passion, you might stop rolling your eyes long enough to actually consider paying $ 55-$ 66 for one of your own. She encourages users to “recharge it in the full moon just the way you would a crystal,” shares special care instructions (“wrap the egg in silk… and store it on an altar ― it should take a sacred place in your life”) and describes a pre-egg insertion ritual we couldn’t make up if we tried.

“I place it on a beautiful piece of fabric, light a candle, maybe even burn some sage,” she said. “For my ritual, I imagine pure light flowing between me and the egg.”

But despite the fact that you can’t buy one of the eggs right now ― they’re currently sold out on both Goop and Rose’s website ― you also just shouldn’t. Doctors were quick to say women really shouldn’t use jade eggs, just as they were quick to speak out when Paltrow bizarrely recommended vaginal steaming

“There is no evidence at all to suggest that [jade eggs] may help, and it carries potential harms, including vaginal infection and trauma,” Dr. Maria Isabel Rodriguez, an assistant professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University, told The Huffington Post.

“I cannot think of a single reason why inserting a large, heavy stone object into the vagina would improve one’s sex life,” she added.

Rodriguez also said encouraging such a practice “perpetuates the idea that there is something inherently ‘wrong’ with women’s reproductive organs at baseline, and that they need to be ‘cleansed’ or ‘balanced.’”

Furthermore, Rodriguez reminded us how intuitive our bodies are on their own, without the help of a stone or celebrity.

“The vagina and the rest of our reproductive organs are actually quite smart at regulating themselves and need no interference from douches, jade eggs or Gwyneth Paltrow,” she said. “If something has changed with your vulva and vagina, and you are having symptoms, see your doctor, not the internet.”

Now that’s a cold, hard nugget of truth.

12 Things Every ‘Type A’ Person Wants You To Know

2017-01-12-1484257821-2930246-12ThingsEveryTypeAPersonWantsYouToKnowHP.jpeg

Robert Frost once said, “The brain is a wonderful organ; it starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into the office.” He certainly wasn’t thinking about Type A people when he said that. They barrel into the office like they’re racing for a pot of gold, and they never seem to lose momentum. It’s as if they’re driven by a motor that never shuts off.

We each have our own understanding of what it means to have a Type A personality, but what does this term really mean and where did it come from? It actually started in a waiting room shared by a pair of cardiologists. The doctors noticed that their chairs didn’t have wear on the backs as expected–the wear was only visible on the front edge of the seats and the armrests, suggesting that patients were literally waiting on the edge of their seats, ready to jump up the second their names were called.

So, the cardiologists–Doctors Friedman and Rosenman–wanted to find out if the strange wear pattern on their chairs was because impatient people are more prone to heart disease. They discovered that their hunch was correct. They also found that people’s personalities tend to lean in one of two directions, which they labeled Type A and Type B.

2017-01-12-1484257884-1847761-12ThingsEveryTypeAPersonWantsYouToKnowHP2.jpeg

Most think of Type A people as driven and highly strung and Type B people as carefree and even-keeled, but there’s so much more to it. Type As, in particular, are often misunderstood, as we just don’t understand the motivation behind their behavior.

To fully grasp what it means to be Type A, you need to hear it from the horse’s mouth. Don’t take my word for it–let’s see what they have to say:

1. We believe that winning is the only option.
We’re really hard on ourselves. Our desire to do our best often morphs into a desire to be the best. After all, if someone else does something better than us, then we mustn’t have been trying hard enough, right? This ensures that even the most mundane activities become a competition.

2. We live and die by our goals.
We don’t do anything “just because.” There’s an end aim for everything. That morning cup of coffee? The goal is to wake up. Half an hour of Pokemon Go at lunch? It’s about squeezing in some exercise and capturing more Pokemon than our friend down the hall. Heaven help anyone who slows us down or gets in our way. We’re nothing if we don’t reach our goals.

3. We’re always stressed.
Achieving our goals is so important to us that we often get stressed out about our progress. It’s that specter of wasted time or missed opportunities hanging over our heads that gets us all riled up, which can be really hard on our emotional intelligence (EQ).

4. We squeeze something into every possible moment. It may seem hypocritical that we’re sometimes late even though the rest of the time we’re impatiently drumming our fingers, waiting for meetings to start on time. The problem is that we try to squeeze a task into every possible minute, and sometimes we overdo it. In our determination to avoid downtime, we sometimes inadvertently create downtime for other people.

5. We want you to get to the point.
Skip the long preamble; if we have questions, we’ll ask. There’s no need to waste time on the setup when you have something important to tell us–just tell us. The theme here is efficiency; we’re interested in hearing the main points so we can begin taking action.

6. We hate to wait. We don’t hate being stuck at a red light or cooling our heels in a doctor’s waiting room because we think we’re too good to wait. We just like to be efficient with our time and don’t like things getting in our way. Every minute spent waiting is a minute we could have spent doing something productive. It’s a minute that we’ll never get back.

7. We’re conscientious.
Like “later,” “good enough” isn’t part of our vocabulary. Things are either right or they’re wrong. And they always, always have to be right. No matter what we’re doing, we care too much to settle for mediocrity.

8. We multitask. We’re not being rude, and we’re not bored. We just have a sense that the value of our day is measured by how much we get done, and we accomplish more when we do two (or more!) things at once.

9. We have a tough time relaxing. Relaxation isn’t a measurable goal, and it feels like a waste of time when nothing is getting done. It’s very difficult for us to sit around and “just be”; instead, we prefer to be actively “becoming” whatever lies at the end of our current ambition. Anything else amounts to lost time.

10. We have an unrealistic sense of urgency. From our perspective, “now” is the only time that exists. There’s no sense in putting something off till another time. While that’s often a good thing, we tend to give trivial issues a greater sense of urgency than they deserve.

11. We follow a schedule. Our time is carefully orchestrated so that each day we accomplish what we intended. Again like “later,” “whenever” isn’t part of our vocabulary. Everything gets scheduled and added to lists, and we take great satisfaction in ticking all the boxes.

12. We’re restless. Our motors are always running, so when we have to idle, that excess energy manifests in various nervous habits, such as fidgeting or biting our nails. Don’t worry, we’re not freaking out. This is normal behavior for us.

Bringing It All Together

We know that we can be awfully hard on everybody, but we’re even harder on ourselves. This may be difficult to see because no one else is privy to the perfectionist that’s goading or berating our every move inside our heads. Just know this: We care–we care a lot–and we really are sorry if our personality makes us hard to get along with sometimes.

What other characteristics set Type A people apart? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below, as I learn just as much from you as you do from me.

Broadway’s Telly Leung Wants His Latest Work To Spur Social Change

When he auditioned for “In Transit,” actor-singer Telly Leung saw the show as a simple, but heartfelt, “love letter” to New York.

Billed as Broadway’s first-ever a cappella musical, the show follows 11 frazzled Manhattanites whose disparate lives intersect on the city’s subway system. In it, Leung stars as Steven, whose fiancée Trent (Justin Guarini) is struggling to tell his born-again Christian mother about the mixed race couple’s relationship before their wedding. (Watch the trailer for “In Transit” above.)

Given musical theater’s recent embrace of queer themes in “Fun Home” and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” among other shows, Steven and Trent’s storyline seems conventional enough, especially as it is one of many character arcs in the ensemble piece. One day before “In Transit” began previews on Nov. 10, however, the future of LGBTQ rights was thrust into uncertainty following Donald Trump’s surprise accession to the U.S. presidency. Suddenly, Leung said, the show’s all-inclusive message was given a renewed sense of purpose.

“The whole show is about people who are trying to get somewhere and feeling a bit stuck, a bit helpless. New Yorkers are driven and we’re always trying to get somewhere,” the 36-year-old “Glee” veteran told The Huffington Post before “In Transit” opened on Broadway Dec. 11. “It’s frustrating when we don’t get there.”

But it isn’t just the queer aspect of “In Transit” that gives the musical, which was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, James-Allen Ford, Russ Kaplan and Sara Wordsworth, a sense of urgency in Leung’s eyes. Seeing the show’s diverse cast – which includes Margo Seibert, James Snyder, Erin Mackey and Nicholas Ward – work “in harmony together, visually and audibly,” is “something that we all really need at this time in our country,” he said.

Interestingly, “In Transit” debuts at a time when one of Leung’s earlier projects is getting a new life. “Allegiance,” which follows a Japanese-American family thrown into an internment camp when the U.S. enters World War II, will be shown Tuesday on 600 movie screens across the country.

That musical, which also starred Tony winner Lea Salonga and “Star Trek” icon George Takei, enjoyed a successful out-of-town run in San Diego, California. Despite Takei’s outspoken passion for the project, the show received mixed reviews when it hit Broadway in November 2015, and closed in February after 111 performances.

Given the nation’s political climate, Leung hopes the film version of “Allegiance” is received differently. The show, he said, can now been seen as an important reminder to those now grappling with Trump’s divisive rhetoric on minority groups.

“It was always in the artistic vision of our producers to create a Broadway show that not only seeks to entertain, but educate and bring about some social change, too,” he said. “This story needs to live on, and there are lessons to be learned.”

Collectively, both “In Transit” and “Allegiance” are important reminders that “art doesn’t exist in a vacuum at times like this,” Leung said. “That message is more important now than ever.”

Telly Leung stars in “In Transit,” now playing at the Circle in the Square Theater in New York. Head here for more information.

Gigi Hadid Wants You to Know She’s Not Perfect

NEW YORK — Two days after Gigi Hadid appeared in the televised broadcast of the annual celebration of lingerie-clad, other-worldly physiques known as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (Hadid is not a contracted Angel for the brand though she did walk the runway in wings), she was in more down-to-earth garb — ponytail, gym clothes — here on Wednesday to talk about her imperfections.
“Screaming into pillows is good,” said Hadid on the topic of how she handles nerves, anxiety and social media hate. In October, Reebok named Hadid the new face of its #PerfectNever campaign, which it introduced in July with Ronda Rousey as a subset of its massive “Be More Human” push launched last year.
Jumping from Rousey to Hadid might seem like a leap, but Reebok has made a play for combat sports as its athletic niche. Rousey is a UFC champion. Hadid, who played volleyball growing up, has publicized her preference for boxing as a workout.
As the hashtag suggests, the concept plays to the old adage that nobody’s perfect and that’s a good thing. If Hadid, one of the most successful fashion models working today, seems an unlikely pitchwoman for imperfection, Reebok is banking on the power of her

Bono Wants Christian Music To Get More Honest

When U2 musician Bono reads the Psalms, a book of the Bible filled with ancient hymns, he sees the full range of human emotions: anger, irritation, sadness, bliss. While the Psalms have been a source of spiritual inspiration for him throughout his life, Bono has much harsher words for contemporary Christian music.

Modern Christian worship music has often been critiqued for its mediocrity — the repetition of the same four chords, the same set of reliably inspirational words, and theological jargon that leaves outsiders bewildered

Bono, who has become more outspoken about his Christian faith in recent years, is advocating for a return to the raw and honest emotion of the Psalms.

“The psalmist is brutally honest about the explosive joy that he’s feeling and the deep sorrow or confusion,” the singer said in Fuller Studio‘s newly released documentary “The Psalms.” “And I often think, ‘Gosh, well, why isn’t church music more like that?'”

The singer’s comments in the film were part of a wide-ranging conversation he had with Eugene Peterson, a pastor and scholar who is best known for “The Message,” a translation of the Bible into contemporary language. The film documents the friendship between the unlikely pair, who were drawn together by their common interest in this ancient book of the Bible.

Peterson talked about how his translation of the Psalms are as close as he could get to the original meaning of the text.

“It’s not smooth, it’s not nice, it’s not pretty, but it’s honest,” Peterson said. “I think we’re trying for honesty, which is very, very hard in our culture.”

Bono agreed that honesty was hard to find in modern Christian culture. In fact, he said that he found “a lot of dishonesty” in modern Christian art.

“I would love if this conversation would inspire people who are writing these beautiful… gospel songs, write a song about their bad marriage. Write a song about how they’re pissed off at the government. Because that’s what God wants from you, the truth,” Bono said. “And that truthfulness …. will blow things apart.”

“Why I am suspicious of Christians is because of this lack of realism,” he continued. “And I’d love to see more of that — in art and in life and in music.”

Watch the video above for more of Bono’s conversation with Eugene Peterson.

Google Calendar wants to help you make time for yourself for a change

Finding time for our own personal aspirations can be hard, and when we do have time, we often conjure up a reason to push it to another day. Whether it’s exercising, learning a new language, or organizing your home — Google wants to help nudge you to get cracking on those personal goals through a new automated feature in Google Calendar.Related: Google Calendar finally lets you set reminders on desktop “One day it’s ‘I got called into a last-minute meeting,’ Jyoti Ramnath, product manager at Gmail, said in the blog post announcement. “The next day it’s ‘I have a friend in town.’ And before you know it, your goals are delayed or forgotten. In fact, with all the things you need to do in a given week, it’s probably harder than ever to find the time — even when your goal really matters to you.” To help you find the time, now when you tap the floating action button in Google Calendar, you’ll see a flag icon that will let you set a goal. The app will then find a time in your calendar to pencil your goal in — and it will automatically move it if you schedule another event during that time frame. When Calendar sends you a notification to get started on your goal, you can defer it or tap complete. The more you use the feature, the better it works. As you continue to defer or complete goals, Google Calendar will learn and choose the optimal times in the future. The new Goals feature marks the 10-year anniversary of Google Calendar, and according to The New York Times, Google is also launching another feature that helps two people in the same company find convenient meeting times, with the use of a “software agent.” The features will be rolling out today — just keep an eye out for updates to your iOS or Android Google Calendar app.

All This Pug Puppy Wants In Life Is To Go For A Ride On Tiny Scooter

We don’t think this little pooch will be owning a Vespa of his own anytime soon.

A video uploaded to YouTube features a pug puppy in Udon Thani, Thailand, attempting to join his bigger pug friend on what appears to be a toy scooter. To make matters cuter, the scooter is being pulled by another small motorcycle, driven by an adorable boy is taking his ride very seriously.

The clip was shared on social media by Viral Hog, but ended up generating quite a bit of attention across the Interwebs when it was shared on Unilad’s Facebook page, where generating more than 3 million views. You don’t have to do much analysis to see why the video is so popular. Adorable kid + chill dog + pug puppy = a serious recipe for success.

Just observe the adorableness in action. The puppy tries and tries to get back on the scooter but the other dog is all DGAF. Meanwhile the child, who starts the ride off excited, quickly gets down to business, keeping his eyes glued to the road.

We’ll never know if the pup ever gets to ride out his dreams, but we are sure that this little trio has stolen our hearts.

If this video has inspired you to get a little ride-or-die pup of your own, consider adopting a rescue pet. The ASPCA is a great place to start your search!

Adam Lyons Wants You to Get “Ice Cold”

Adam Lyons is a little emotional. It’s now midnight in London and June has turned into July. He is sitting in his London flat and received the e-mail. His debut album is now available on iTunes. The 22 year-old tweets out another link to his followers, but this time he attaches a screen-shot of the standard e-mail iTunes sends, stating his order (the order of his album) is ready. His group of loyal fans, who have supported him for a few years now, are busy tweeting up a storm in-excitement. Adam is busy engaging with them as they all celebrate this milestone in his career.

The debut album is called Ice Cold. The 15-track album is a mixture of many genres including Pop, R&B, and Soul. The album showcases Lyons vocal ability and range. No song sounds the same. It also showcases his talent as a songwriter. Every single track was written solely by Lyons. The album was produced by Uplink from Germany. The duo and Lyons started working and collaborating on this album over a year ago.

“It is filled with emotion, passion, energy and commitment.” Lyons states on his album. “I can’t wait for people to have the album, it will be so fulfilling to share the body of work with the loyal supporters and hopefully attract new fans.” Lyons states.

The first single off the album is also called “Ice Cold.” “Summer is my favorite season.” Lyons exclaims. “When Uplink sent me the track to write and record, it instantly gave me a feel good, chilled Californian vibe. I just fell in love with the track.” he states.

A music video for the single was shot in Los Angeles this past May. Adam sought out Mac Cleary, the director of his first music video “Psycho” to helm this project. “Marc is a very unique individual with a very creative mind. I love how fresh and cool he is and I am in love with his work.” Lyons states.

Cleary also only has positive things to say about working with Adam. “Adam’s always such a team player.” Cleary states. “Whether it’s getting half naked and dunking in a bathtub in public in the freezing cold, or slow dancing with a drag queen on Hollywood Boulevard he’s always 100% fully committed and never questions anything.”

The music video itself was a little different than the previous ones Lyons has done (This was his third). “It was incredibly fun, we basically had a day out and made a video of it. It was very free spirited and stress free. What makes this video unique is our relaxed approach to the shoot and the awesome people involved. My cheeks were hurting from laughing throughout the day. It was a very long day and by the time we wrapped, I was ready for bed, however we had to fit in a few drinks in Hollywood first.” He says with a laugh. The music video was officially released onVevo on June 16th.

While music is his passion, his other passion is dance. Lyons is currently one of Rita Ora’s dancers during her 2015 UK festival tour. Stops already included the Radio 1 Big Weekend, Capital FM Summertime Ball and Wireless Festival. This past winter he performed The Royal Albert Hall with Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton and Erin as one of the six world class ensemble dancers for their Christmas Show followed by the UK/Ireland Tour of ‘That’s Entertainment’. He has taught and performed all over the UK and beyond.

In the last two years, I have written about Adam Lyons numerous times. As someone who is not in his field of work, it has been interesting watching from the sidelines as he navigates the interesting, exciting, and sometimes chaotic entertainment world. His journey has not been easy and it is not over yet. However if anything this has helped to shape Lyons into the true artist that he is today. Lyons drive and determination for success in whatever he does is apparent and can even be felt from across the pond. Even though it has been a few years, it still surprises me the amount of time and energy he puts in every one of his projects. I see his career continuing to progress as time goes on. I can’t guess where it will end up, but what I can say is Adam Lyons will give everything he has on his way there.

Adam Lyon’s debut album Ice Cold is available on iTunes as well as other music streaming services and stores. To view the video for the single “Ice Cold” you can view it here. For more about Adam Lyons, visit his official website.

Florida Man Fired After Facebook Post Saying He Wants To Marry His Dog

Ryan Uhler thought he was being funny when he took to Facebook to compare marrying his dog to same-sex marriage, but he quickly found himself in the doghouse at work.

Uhler, 32, a resident of Cape Coral, Florida, posted the following message the day after the Supreme Court’s June 26 ruling that gay marriage is legal everywhere, according to TheBlaze.com.

”How is marrying a dog different if you love them? Today I hope we can focus on doggy-style love. I love my dog Rocco, and he loves me. Hopefully one day we can be married.”

On Tuesday, his employer, Grace Investment Group, fired him from his position as a digital marketing specialist.

“I was blindsided,” he told The Huffington Post. “I didn’t think anyone there knew how to use Facebook.”

Uhler told The Huffington Post he didn’t mean anything derogatory by the post, and has no problem with the Supreme Court’s decision.

However, he also admits being aware that likening same-sex marriage to an animal wedding is a cliche often used by critics of LGBT rights.

“I’m very neutral about politics. Sometimes, I will try and get a reaction to spark comments and responses.” Uhler told The Huffington Post. “I really didn’t want to offend. I have gay people I know and love and I wouldn’t want to offend them, but they know my sense of humor.”

He said he simply likes to go on Facebook and “stir the pot” sometimes in “either direction,” he said, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Uhler said company officials told him the Facebook post was the reason he was being fired and claimed they told him they were uncomfortable with the connotations of bestiality.

“It wasn’t about that at all,” he said. “It’s about loving a dog. People have told me, ‘I have a dog and I’d make that joke too.'”

Grace Investment Group hasn’t confirmed whether the post was why Uhler was canned, but it doesn’t have to: Florida is an “at will” state, which means employers can fire workers for any reason and without notice, according to WTSP.com.

Uhler, a married man, may be out of work, but he joked to NBC-2 that he would indeed marry Rocco if he were allowed.

However, he’s not laughing about being unemployed.

“The reason I’m coming forward about this is that I don’t want anyone to make the same mistake I did about posting jokes like this on Facebook,” he told HuffPost.

The New Algorithm That Wants to Make You a Better Dresser

cher-closet-computer-system-clueless-movie

If computers have anything to do with it, crafting a perfect, compliment-attracting outfit will become less about stylish instinct and more about a string of numbers, run digitally and crunched to create a perfect combo.

Raquel Urtasun, a University of Toronto computer scientist, worked to develop software that compares your #OOTD-type photo with a library of highly rated looks studied on Chictopia, an outfit-sharing site that allows users to post pics and vote on others. From there, the program will offer suggestions based on similar outfits that scored well (for example, if you show it a pic of yourself wearing a color-block minidress, motorcycle jacket, and heels, it might suggest subbing out your stilettos for booties if similar outfits tracked higher with the different shoe type).

The program also takes into account your location, the background of the photo, and any clues you’ve provided in the description, like specifying that the outfit is for a particular situation.

Snoop Dogg Says He Wants To Be Twitter’s Next CEO

At least one candidate has already stepped up to be Twitter’s new CEO.

Not long after Twitter announced that it’s current chief, Dick Costolo, will step down next month, rapper Snoop Dogg told the world — on Twitter, no less — he’s “ready to lead” the company. Yeah, yeah, we know he’s kidding. But let’s just enjoy this for a second.

Just minutes before Snoop posted his tweet, Twitter Chairman Jack Dorsey said in a conference call that the company had not yet retained a search firm to find Costolo’s replacement. Dorsey will serve as interim CEO until a more permanent boss steps in.

Last year, investor Peter Thiel criticized the company, saying it was mismanaged and there was “probably a lot of pot smoking going on there.”

Snoop might be a good match after all.

Mayim Bialik Wants To See Pictures Of Your Cat

Please share pictures of your cats with Mayim Bialik.

“The Big Bang Theory” star, neuroscientist and animal advocate has teamed up with PetSmart Charities to help dispel negative stereotypes about cats and the people who love them. (C’mon, don’t pretend you’ve never heard the term “crazy cat lady” used in a bad way!)

To support this effort, she’s asking folks to post pictures on Twitter and Instagram of themselves and their cats being awesome, using the hashtag #meowOUT.

The aim of this image-improvement campaign is to get more shelter cats into homes. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, some 3.4 million cats enter U.S. animal shelters every year. As of now, fewer than half of them make it out.

“I think it’s important to realize that a lot of those stereotypes about what cats are like and what cat people are like are not legitimate,” Bialik told The Huffington Post by phone, speaking from this weekend’s gathering of all things feline, CatConLA.

“It’s especially important, as a science-y person and a person who cares about the environment and the animals in it, to realize that cats are out there waiting to be adopted,” she added.

Bialik has already participated in the campaign, posting pictures of her own cats, Esau and Frances.

Meanwhile, perhaps the best indication of Bialik being a completely sane cat person: Tempted as she is by CatConLA’s many adoptable kittens, she said she loves Esau and Frances enough not to bring home a new furry friend right now.

“I’ve had cats my whole life. I’ve had adopted cats my whole life,” she said. “[But] my house is under construction and my cats cannot take any more confusion.”

She said she would welcome her character on “The Big Bang Theory” taking in a feline friend, but said, “I don’t know if it will happen.”

Humble Plumber Wins $136 Million Lottery, Still Wants To Continue Working

NEW YORK (AP) — A Staten Island plumber who won a $ 136 million Powerball jackpot said Thursday he wants to keep working — but also plans to “relax a little more.”

Anthony Perosi, 56, left his March 14 ticket pinned to the wall behind a basement pipe for six weeks.

The winner, Anthony Perosi, on right, and his son, Anthony Perosi III.

A friend had told him where the winning ticket had been purchased, but she thought a teacher had won. So he took his time checking the numbers, which he’d chosen randomly.

“When I saw all the numbers matched up, I panicked,” Perosi said. “I immediately called my son and asked him to come over right away!”

Anthony Perosi III did what he was told.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” said the 27-year-old. “I checked the numbers on my phone and it has been surreal ever since.”

The cash value of the ticket came to $ 88.5 million. The father decided to share his winnings with his son, split 70-30. So dad gets a net lump sum of $ 38.6 million after required withholdings, and son pockets $ 16.5 million.

“I honestly don’t know what my plans are right now,” said the elder Perosi. “I want to continue to work, but will be able to relax a little more and not have any worries financially.”

“I don’t have words for it,” said the son. “It’s just unbelievable and a big relief; like a big weight is off my shoulders. I’ll probably pay some bills, take a vacation, and then really take some time to think and plan for the future.”

Vince Vaughn Wants Guns In Every American School

Actor Vince Vaughn, one of Hollywood’s few outspoken conservatives, believes it’s a Constitutional right to carry guns everywhere, including schools.

The star of the upcoming season of “True Detective” blamed school shootings on the lack of guns on campuses, in excerpts shared Monday from an interview with the British edition of GQ.

I support people having a gun in public full stop, not just in your home. We don’t have the right to bear arms because of burglars; we have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government. It’s not about duck hunting; it’s about the ability of the individual. It’s the same reason we have freedom of speech. It’s well known that the greatest defence against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back. All these gun shootings that have gone down in America since 1950, only one or maybe two have happened in non-gun-free zones. Take mass shootings. They’ve only happened in places that don’t allow guns. These people are sick in the head and are going to kill innocent people. They are looking to slaughter defenceless human beings. They do not want confrontation. In all of our schools it is illegal to have guns on campus, so again and again these guys go and shoot up these f***ing schools because they know there are no guns there. They are monsters killing six-year-olds.

Sounding a wee bit like a conspiracy theorist, Vaughn later said that elites secretly stock weapons in the schools that their children attend.

You think the politicians that run my country and your country don’t have guns in the schools their kids go to? They do. And we should be allowed the same rights. Banning guns is like banning forks in an attempt to stop making people fat. Taking away guns, taking away drugs, the booze, it won’t rid the world of criminality.

This is not first time Vaughn has spoken out about gun control. In a February interview with Playboy, he explained why he owns a firearm.

“I do [own a gun], yeah,” he said. “I believe in the right to defend yourself if need be. Hopefully you’re never in that situation, but I think you’re fairly naive to believe there will never be a cause for self-defense.”

The self-described libertarian also spoke out against the Obama administration and affirmative action in that interview while supporting same-sex marriage and legalizing drugs.

Holychild Wants ‘Brat Pop’ To Save The World

holychild

It’s easy to stand out when you’re wearing a leather jacket covered in googly eyes and have jewels glued to your scalp. But Holychild frontwoman Liz Nistico was unbothered by the wandering eyes — googly or otherwise — at a Lower East Side coffee shop. Louie Diller, the other half of Holychild, sat beside her, in an oversized gold jacket affixed with angel wings. They were deep in conversation about lofty plans to move from Los Angeles to Mexico City, where they want to write and record their second album. Never mind that Holychild’s first full LP, “The Shape of Brat Pop To Come,” has yet to debut.

There’s a whole bunch of other things just about to happen for Nistico and Diller, who met in 2011 while they were students at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and formed Holychild soon after. They’re a few days away from going on tour with Passion Pit, have a couple weeks to go until their first summer festival season — they’ll play Governor’s Ball, Sweetlife and Lollapalooza — and are anticipating the release of a music video for new track “Money All Around.” The fact that their first single, “Running Behind,” was featured in the Apple Watch commercial is already old news.

Yet, Nistico and Diller are looking beyond all that, talking shop about Mexico City and why it’s the next best place for what they call a “nomadic lifestyle.”

“I really want to go someplace where I don’t know anybody and can be made uncomfortable,” Nistico said. “I like being made uncomfortable. I think the best art comes from being uncomfortable.”

Due out June 2, “The Shape of Brat Pop To Come” is Holychild’s shot at introducing the world to Brat Pop, the label they’ve given their music. “Brat Pop is essentially sarcastic pop music,” Nistico explained. “It’s really thick with social commentary. The things we’re talking about are gender roles and expectations.”

It’s half-performance art, half-saccharine Top 40 drenched in obvious symbols about feminism, class discrepancies and social constructions. “Dye your hair! Tan your skin! Liposuction’s really in! Adderall! Join the fall! Do it to be beautiful!” Nistico chants on the LP’s second track, “Nasty Girls.”

She writes most of the lyrics, while Diller heads up musical production. But together, they’re trying to say something. “The lyrics are like diary entries,” she said. “Just trying to make sense of this world we’re put in and find some universal truth.”

“I feel like our first EP, ‘Mindspeak,’ was feminist-driven,” Diller said. “But the album has a broader scope in terms of everything Liz just said.”

A few weeks later, Holychild took the stage at Brooklyn’s newly renovated Kings Theater. Backed by Diller’s brother on drums, multi-instrumentalist Sam Stewart (son of The Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart) and two back-up singers, Nistico and Diller launched into an hour-long set,”bratty” as hell. But with a cavernous ceiling and seated ticketing, it’s an awkward venue in which to introduce Brat Pop to the masses. Half the seats remained empty and only a small crowd huddled in front of the stage.

That didn’t stop Holychild from trying to turn the venue into an all-out dance party with heavy percussion and electro-pop crescendos. But the reality was more talent show than warehouse rave. Halfway through the set, Nistico kicked off her shoes, commanded the crowd to clap and went full Gaga in her diva artistry. The thirst for pop stardom is real, and she’s not embarrassed to have it.

holychild

A GIF from the “Money All Around” music video

The summer of Brat Pop continued when Holychild dropped the surrealist music video for “Money All Around.” “Watch, share, make people uncomfortable, challenge societal norms!” they tweeted.

In it, Nistico and Diller try to tackle nearly every big issue, mentioning everything from disordered eating to plagiarism. The duo dines at an expensive restaurant in Los Angeles as text reminiscent of VH1’s “Pop Up Video” plays throughout. Things like like “Liz felt ‘fat’ the day of the shoot and was self-conscious to wear the one-piece. She weighed 111 pounds” run across the screen. Rather than let fans figure out what exactly Holychild is trying to say, they hit you over the head with broad messages, leaving nothing open to interpretation.

“The meat on the table represents humans as lifeless objects,” reads one pop-up. Another says, “Holychild wanted to use older actors doing sexual acts to provoke conversations on ageism.” The video ends like a PSA on capitalism: “85 of the richest people in the world control $ 110 trillion or have as much wealth as the 3.5 billion poorest. Money is meant to provoke thought on truth.”

“What we’re trying to do is accessible art that’s also not going to spoon feed you,” Nistico explained. Their message, though, is scattered. Think. Just think about anything, they seem to say. “There’s a really heavy lean in our music towards human equality and trying to figure out if that’s possible, human equality between genders and sexual orientations and classes and ultimately racism.”

“It’s almost like the way children’s shows are super fun and colorful,” Nistico continued. “They’re like, ‘Today we’re talking about sharing. Isn’t sharing amazing?’ These concepts can be fun. Pop jam 2015! But then it’s also like, ‘Fucking money!’ We’re trying to question the role of money in our culture. I feel like money doesn’t exist. It’s one of these weird ideas of a thing.”

“It really doesn’t,” Diller added.

“It’s around and somehow I’m eating food, so that’s cool,” Nistico said.

Holychild’s “Running Behind” featured in the first Apple Watch commercial

But, the ironic notion of Holychild’s hit single being used to sell Apple’s latest high-profile product, which is, in a way, the absolute symbol of money and power, is not lost on the band. “I think that a lot of the reason why people are connecting with our music right now is because it says something,” she said. “Apple using the song is a larger indicator of that. They were down with everything from hypocrisy in images to the feminist messages of Brat Pop. We’re in a very precarious place as a culture where indicators like that show that we can move forward.”

Holychild’s first album, “The Shape of Brat Pop To Come,” is due out June 2 via Glassnote Records.

The 4 Classic Pieces J.Crew Boss Jenna Lyons Wants You to Wear

After 25 years at J.Crew, Jenna Lyons knows a thing or two—actually, anything and everything—about all-American fashion. As if her personal style isn’t enough to communicate that, talking to her quickly gives anyone a deep sense of her fashion know-how, quick-witted intelligence, and passion for the brand. (Plus, she remains genuinely excited about the First Lady donning J.Crew and endearingly flattered when receiving compliments.)

Lyons embodies both the laid-back ease and extreme fun that comes with wearing classic American pieces, turning her into an industry icon looked to by both newcomers and fashion vets for inspiration. Here, she shares thoughts on time-tested must-haves, the most important styling trick to take away from J.Crew’s ethos, and her love of Lauren Hutton, exclusively with us.

jenna-lyons-glamour

Glamour: What, in your opinion, makes a piece of clothing stand the test of time and become a classic?
Jenna Lyons: It’s interesting; often when I think about the things that actually fall into that—the options seem to be rooted in menswear. If you really look at what is iconic for both men and women, I feel like a lot of times they’re the same thing. It might be a trench coat, or a button-down shirt, or a classic pair of jeans. The things that start in this time-honored tradition of menswear—which has always been a heavy influence on style—go back to something that feels classic.

Glamour: How do you keep reinventing classics in a modern fashion?
JL: The element of surprise is important. I think the thing that makes something feel modern is that subtle shift, where all of a sudden it looks slightly different. Maybe it’s a seasonal color or maybe it’s showing it in a different way. Like, the leather of the season is a little glossier and might feel a little different than it did two years ago when it was a little bit more matte and soft. Those kinds of shifts in texture or color can really change your eye and change your perspective.

Glamour: What classics should we be shopping for this spring and summer?
JL: There are certain things that remain the same every year. I always want the perfect string bikini; I always want a great T-shirt; I always want a white shirt; I always want a simple pair of chinos and like a great sandal. What’s interesting to me is how those things shift in proportion every year, so there might be a time when you want the T-shirt to be really fitted, and that’s sort of what is happening with the white T-shirt. And then, sometimes you might want it to be a little more boxy and easy. The waists are coming up now, and higher-waisted things, and pants getting more cropped and wider-legged. That’s just another shift of proportion that I think feels new.

Glamour: J.Crew’s classic navy suit was very wide-legged in its 1990s catalogs with Lauren Hutton modeling.
JL: And it looks so ’80s doesn’t it? Eighties slash ’90s.

Glamour: But in a great way.
JL: I love it. And now our suit is actually much more close to the body; it’s got more construction in it, it’s got a little bit more—you know, it’s got the straighter lines. Lauren still wears our clothes, and I love seeing her in our clothes. It’s the same body, the same idea, but she looks so different today.

jenna-lyons-pajamas-style-met-gala-2015

Lyons with J.Crew group CEO Mickey Drexler at this year’s Met Gala.

Glamour: J.Crew’s worked with so many of the top models over the years—we’ve talked about Lauren Hutton, but which women do you think best personify the spirit of the brand, and why?
JL: I would say Lauren for a lot of reasons. You can’t not talk about her. She was in this industry that was so incredibly looks-based, [but] she remained incredibly confident. She had been told many times to close the gap in her teeth, and she never did. To talk to her is sort of like talking to a combination of an excited, giddy 10-year-old and a wise owl. She’s got a lot of life experiences, but she’s still bubbly and curious.

Glamour: How do readers translate that into their style?
JL: The thing that we try to weave through everything we do, is to be careful about things looking too perfect. For things to feel just a little bit untouched, or a little bit casual. There’s a sort of natural sexiness and an undertone to things. It’s not overly polished.

Glamour: Any other J.Crew styling tips?
JL: What I think is interesting about styling is when it develops out of lifestyle. I talked about this a lot where you know you take one thing off and something else is sitting on the chair, so you end up throwing that on. Or, you borrow your husband’s shirt and you end up realizing that it actually looks great with your shorts. That lifestyle attitude is a natural sense of style where something evolved because of the way you live as opposed to being over articular or overly considered, if that makes sense.

Glamour: All of fashion’s great images have a je ne sais quoi about them, and I guess that’s J.Crew’s kind of version of that.
JL: I guess so!

Watch: Hear Jenna Lyons offer up her best career advice (and insight from some other very smart women).

Here’s Who Ben Mendelsohn Wants To Play In ‘Star Wars’ If Those Rumors Are True

Ben Mendelsohn is having quite the moment, and if those “Star Wars” rumors end up being true, he’s bound to become a household name in Hollywood.

The Australian actor has been well-known back home since he was a teenager, but you’ve likely seen him more and more recently in American films and TV shows. He was killed by Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises,” played Jessa’s father in HBO’s “Girls,” and appeared alongside Brad Pitt in “Killing Them Softly.”

This year alone, Mendelsohn’s credits include Netflix’s “Bloodline,” Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut “Lost River,” gambler film “Mississippi Grind ” and indie Western “Slow West.” Let’s also not forget that he might star alongside Felicity Jones in “Star Wars: Rogue One.”

In John Maclean’s feature film debut, “Slow West,” Michael Fassbender (who previously worked with Maclean on two short films), plays Silas, a mysterious traveler headed west in 16th-century Colorado. Silas helps 16-year-old Scottish boy Jay Cavendish (Kodi Smit-McPhee) on his journey to find the girl he loves until they run into Mendelsohn’s Payne, a villainous leader of a gang of bounty hunters.

The Huffington Post sat down with Mendelsohn at the Tribeca Film Festival last month to discuss the wardrobe he took home from “Slow West,” who he’d like to play in the “Star Wars” universe, and his bizarre dance in “Lost River.”

slow west mendelsohn

I loved “Slow West.” It’s so beautifully made.
Yeah, [Maclean] did really well, didn’t he? It’s beautifully shot. He’s got something, that guy. And Fassbender found him, or they found each other. So I just got asked on board when it was all in its shape and I have a little turn in it.

You don’t show up in too many scenes, but when Payne is on screen he definitely makes an impression.
This, I like this. And that coat [points to the film poster].

Payne’s coat is amazing! Did you get to keep it?
I have that coat. I have it sitting on a mannequin at home. I don’t have memorabilia, but try to take a bit of wardrobe, usually because they dress me better than I dress myself. But that coat, that’s a thing of beauty. I’m very proud of it.

Are you going to wear it around?
Yeah, I suppose I might bust it out in moments of great bravery or just deep cold. I did wear it for the premiere in Sundance.

What was it like working with Fassbender?
Michael had a lot of stuff to do. It was all drunk hoo-ha and boy, he did some incredibly dangerous things around a fire, which aren’t in the [final] cut. There was some falling, some drunken shenanigans near fires and rocks, sh*t that I was going, “Oh, f**k.” But there’s a fearlessness to the way he works that is pretty admirable. And Kodi [Smit-McPhee], there’s such a delicateness to him. When he starts acting, he feels like gossamer. It was a good couple of days.

You’ve been so well-known in Australia, but now you’re finally having a breakthrough in the U.S. What’s that feel like?
It’s cool. It’s been a great several years. I came here for a very, very long time and just couldn’t get any sort of traction going. There were a couple of people who liked me, but it didn’t translate into anything that was employment based. I like to think that what really helped it was the one-two punch of “Animal Kingdom” and either “Place Beyond the Pines” or “Killing Them Softly.” Those combined really seemed to set some wind in the sails. It’s been a dreamy couple of years.

I bet. And now there’s those “Star Wars” rumors …
Yeah, there are those rumors.

So, are they just rumors?
They — I can definitively and honestly say to you that I have no job yet that I know of to go to. That may change. I would be very happy if that came to pass, but at this stage it’s just chatter.

Ideally, if you were in it, what character would you want to play?
It would depend. I think that the Empire has such room. We only know of a few people on the Empire side of the fence. “Star Wars” is populated by so many great types, who wouldn’t want to be a Han Solo kind of dude? And then you’ve got the whole Luke strain. I don’t think that they’re likely to — I’d be thrilled, actually, if they were looking at me for a Skywalkery-type of a number. But yeah, there’s a lot.

You also worked with Gosling again in “Lost River,” where you have singing and dancing scenes. Had you ever done something like that before?
No, I’ve never sung before. That’s me doing my Frankie Laine impersonation. There’s a little film I did where I sing a bit, but nothing like that. And the dance was something we just figured out very last minute just before we were going to shoot the scene. We knew we had it coming up and I went down there and we put on a A$ AP Rocky track and just danced off.

That’s even more bizarre because that’s totally different from the song playing in the scene.
That’s right, it’s not [the same]. But if you ever want to hear what it was that I was dancing to, it is “F**king Problems.”

Did you know the song before that?
Yeah, I was familiar with the opus. I’m a reasonably — I have my phases — but I really like music.

“Slow West” is now playing in select theaters.

The Marriage Secret No One Wants To Admit

By Lyz Lenz for YourTango

When one of my friends got engaged, he was over the moon. At dinner one night, he told my husband how much he was in love.

“It’s like nothing I’ve ever felt before!” he said so sweetly that it was easy to forgive him the cliche.

“I know,” my husband said smiling at me. “It’s great being in love.”

“No,” our friend said shaking his head. “This is different than what you have. We never fight, ever.”

I winced, but my husband maintained his gracious smile. “That’s great! We can’t wait to be at that wedding.”

Six months after their wedding, I got a call from our friend. I could tell something was bothering him. “Are you alright?” I asked.

“Yeah,” he said. “It’s just that we fought and it was really bad.”

After talking with him some more, I learned that a “really bad” fight meant that she walked out of the room on him only to return a half-hour later to apologize.

I told him about our fights. I told him how we had both slammed doors, said really horrible things, stomped, and not only left the room but left the house for hours on end, returning to fight again instead of make up. I told him how I, in a fit of anger, had thrown away an entirely good batch of cookies just so my husband couldn’t eat them. I had also hidden cookies, turned up the thermostat and left every single light on in the house (including flashlights and closet lights), just to irk my husband. Also, once, I air-conditioned the outside. I still haven’t apologized for that.

When I finished, we were both laughing and my friend was breathing easier.

When love is newly minted, it’s easy to be insular and believe that you and your partner have everything figured out, that nothing can ever shake you, you will never fight, and nothing so stupid as socks on the floor could ever make you raise your voice at that adorable face. I don’t mean to be condescending. It’s a great time. Every couple has it and it is my sincere wish that it lasts as long as possible.

But it doesn’t.

At some point in every marriage, you will find yourself sobbing into your pillow over toothpaste caps and if you don’t, you’re a Stepford Wife.

When Dave and I got married, no one told us about these ugly moments — when something as simple as sweeping the floor can cause you to question whether you’ve committed to the right “forever after.” A friend once told me that she felt horrible for questioning her choice of spouse until she told her mom, who has been married for 50 years. “Oh honey,” her mom said, “I ask that question at least once a week.”

In the early days of our marriage, I felt ashamed about coming clean about our arguments. Wasn’t I being disloyal? Wouldn’t people think horrible things about us? But the truth is, the more I talked to married couples, the more I realized how normal it is to occasionally slam a door, or hide a cookie, or lay in bed and wonder if you just committed to the same old remote control fight for as long as you both shall live.

I am forever indebted to a couple who told my husband and me a story about their epic battle over putting together a bookshelf. During the heat of the fight, the husband walked out of their apartment. The wife then decided the best way to make him sorry was to eat an entire pie his mother had made for him. When he came back, he found his wife, in the middle of the kitchen floor, her face covered in blueberry pie, crying. He grabbed a fork and joined her. They’ve been married for 20 years.

At the time, I remember feeling shocked. How could they say they had a good marriage when they were both that ridiculous?

That, of course, was before I stooped low and hid the cookies. Now, I cling to that blueberry pie story like a talisman. On my worst days, it reminds me, we can be both dumb and happily married. I’m not condoning acts of childishness or silly fights. It’s good to always keep perspective, but the truth is you can’t always keep perspective. In those moments, when you’ve lost all dignity and you are covered in blueberry pie and crying on the floor, just know, it’s OK. We’ve all been there, whether we admit it or not.

Recently, during a fight, I told my husband, “You know what? I’m OK with this fight. I know I have the rest of my life to spend making you learn how to do the laundry.”

“That’s right,” he said, “and I have the rest of my life to train you to turn the lights out in the house.” Then, we went to bed, still a little angry, but very much committed to figuring it out as long as we both shall live.

Oklahoma Lawmaker Wants To Test Everybody For Syphilis Before Marriage

If one Oklahoma lawmaker has his way, people with sexually transmitted diseases will not just be getting married in his state.

Senate Bill 733, introduced by state Sen. Anthony Sykes (R), would require both partners to take a blood test within 30 days of applying for a marriage license. A license would be granted only if “in the opinion of the physician, the persons named therein are not infected with syphilis or other communicable or infectious diseases or, if infected, that such diseases are not in a stage which may be communicable to the marriage partner,” the bill says.

Problem number one: the potential public release of private medical information. The full text of the bill implies that the office that grants marriage licenses would also keep copies of the blood tests, according to Oklahoma’s News 9. This might violate the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which is designed to protect the confidentiality of Americans’ medical records.

Problem number two: Oklahoma used to require a premarital blood test for syphilis but eliminated it in 2004 — for good reason. At that time, NewsOK.com reported, the Oklahoma State Department of Health said that some 300,000 blood tests in the past five years had turned up just five new cases of syphilis.

As recently as 1980, there were 34 states that demanded a premarital blood test, but virtually every state has repealed that requirement since. Today, only Montana still has it on the books.

Blood test requirements “were enacted in the first half of the twentieth century as part of public health campaigns to reduce the spread of communicable diseases and prevent birth defects. The laws required couples applying for a marriage license to be screened for certain conditions, commonly rubella or syphilis,” explains a 2009 study led by Kasey Buckles at the University of Notre Dame. “However, after penicillin proved to be a cheap and effective treatment for syphilis and vaccines were developed for rubella, these screenings were no longer considered cost-effective.”

In other words, Sykes is trying to revive an old and largely discredited idea. An attorney, he has served in the state Senate since 2006, two years after the Oklahoma repeal.

So far, his proposed legislation has been referred to the Judiciary Committee, which Sykes chairs. There are currently no co-sponsors.

“Forgot to post this a while back… Let’s start a new Twitter/Instagram trend: #NoMakeupMonday… Why? Cause we deserve to show the world our beauty and our confidence!!!,” the 22-year-old wrote:

Hey, Ladies, This Conservative Blogger Wants You To Stop ‘Destroying Your Husband’

A piece about how to stop destroying your husband and your marriage has elicited plenty of attention this week, with some slamming the advice as completely antiquated. Although author Katelyn Carmen told The Huffington Post that she can acknowledge a difference in opinion when it comes to what makes a marriage work, she’s sticking to hers.

Carmen’s article — which appeared on FamilyShare.com, a conservative website dedicated to helping men and women strengthen their marriages and families — lists “five destructive things” she says will ultimately ruin a woman’s relationship with her husband and offers tips for keeping the man happy. According to her advice, a woman should live within her spouse’s means, never complain, always put her husband first and use sex as a “sacred tool” and never withhold it.

On the subject of never complaining, she writes:

Wives, show sincere appreciation and respect to your husband by carefully following a budget and making the most of what you have. Be wise about your finances.

Constantly complaining about not having enough to fulfill your lavish desires or racking up astronomical amounts of debt on your credit card is a poor way of saying “thank you” to a faithful spouse who works hard every day to provide for the family.

And when it comes to sex, Carmen doesn’t really care if you’re in the mood.

It is a great blessing to be wanted and needed by a loving, romantic husband who wants to share something so beautiful and important with you — and you only. Even though you might not always be in the mood, it’s worth it to give in (when you can) and spend that time bonding.

The article went viral, and while some praised her tips on Facebook, others weren’t exactly thrilled with what she had to say.

“It turns out that while I’ve spent all these years trying to make us happy, I should have been worried about making him happy. Why? I don’t know. Because penis, I guess,” Meredith Bland wrote on Mommyish.

And Hemavathy DM Suppiah mockingly rephrased Carmen’s words on MyLaunchpad. On Carmen’s point about sex, she writes:

Men, susceptible creatures that they are, need lots and lots of physical affection. They cannot live without it and if you neglect your wifely duties, then he’s just going to go elsewhere, and you’ll be a bad, bad wife. Seriously, they’ll give you a trophy.

Never mind if you don’t feel well, or you’re tired, or just not in the mood, your husband’s needs surmount yours (refer to point no. 3) and it is your duty to give him all the pleasure he wants and needs.

When asked about the backlash, Carmen told The Huffington Post: “Some of the strongest emotions we experience as humans come from our relationships with the people we love. Strengthening our marriages and families should be two topics that people think about every day, but people don’t always agree on how that should be done.”

“The advice I gave in this article was influenced by a variety of sources,” she went on to say, “including my college studies and research — I minored in marriage and family studies — family therapists who contribute content to the site, my own marriage and advice from couples I know who’ve have had long, successful marriages.”

Though the beginning of Carmen’s FamilyShare.com article noted that her tips can also apply to men, she told HuffPost that an article will be coming out next week with advice specifically for men.

“Marriage is a partnership. My advice is just as important and relevant to men –- and we publish advice for both men and women on the site,” she said. “As spouses, we should be willing to help one another as equal partners as we honor and serve one another. That, in turn, will bring the greatest likelihood of a successful marriage.”

Forget Ladylike—Taylor Swift Wants to Dress Like a Victoria’s Secret Angel

If you watched the Victoria’s Secret show last night, you must have noticed the chemistry between Taylor Swift and the models. It’s more than just showmanship, too—she fits in like one of the girls and is such real-life besties with Karlie Kloss, the two started dressing alike. Tay’s got a pretty well defined style that heavily draws on ladylike, retro-inspired pieces (an argument’s even been made that the high-waisted bikini is her signature piece), but I’d like to submit some photos as evidence for my argument that, actually, Miss Swift would like nothing more than to let her inner Victoria’s Secret Angel out to play.

taylor-swift-backless-white-dress-one-chance-premiere-2013
There’s the backless white dress she picked for the One Chance premiere that not only flashed some sexy spine, but cut inward so the effect was visible from the front.
taylor-swift-crop-top-red-skirt-i-heart-radio-2014
The strapless crop top and skirt combo is just tiny enough to step into Angel territory. Also lingerie-model-worthy? The faux tan that shows off her bod in the best way possible.

Super sparkles, super short, and with triangular sheer pieces at the neckline. Yep, that’s a bombshell dress if I ever saw one.

Crochet and cutout sections combined for a super steamy afterparty dress (that, not for nothing, must have also been way comfy).
taylor-swift-gold-mini-dress-amas-2013
And the pièce de résistance, when Taylor really went for it. It’s way shiny, strapless and short, and she even kept her hair down. I love daring hemlines, but it makes me question when she said “I don’t want to wear something so short that I’m scared there will be a wardrobe malfunction.” Because, honey, that’s short.

Do you so often think of Taylor in ’50s-style dresses and skirts that you forget she’s rocked some seriously sexy items?

My Wife Told Me She Wants to Cheat, Here’s How I Feel

When Elloa Atkinson confessed to the Internet that she wanted to cheat on her husband, the Internet went crazy. Here is her husband Nige’s side of the story.

Elloa and Nige:

We had reservations about republishing this, originally shared on The Good Men Project, here. Therefore we’d like to say at the outset that there is no prescription here, no recommendation or suggestion about how other people “should” conduct themselves. We do our best to live by the principle of emotional responsibility which states that I am 100 percent responsible for my experience, as you are for yours. The concept of honesty is one part of this, and while it feels risky, it is, as our teachers Duane and Catherine O’Kane write, “far less risky than acting out.” We share this story for the people who want to believe that vulnerability, as scary as it feels, is ultimately worth the risk.

Elloa:

I wrote a post about wanting to cheat on my husband, and it went viral. The response was mixed, the opinions passionate. The only voice that was noticeably absent was that of my husband, Nige.

This didn’t seem right, but it did feel significant, symbolic of the collective vow of silence that today’s men are living under.

While some people expressed their outrage that I would hurt my husband in this way, others shared either publicly or privately that they too have had these kind of thoughts, fantasies and yes, even obsessions. Still others protested that if a man were to speak about being attracted to women whilst in a relationship, he would be lambasted.

This conversation, sparked by my article, appears to be one we are ready to have. The next step was clear. It was time for Nige to speak.

***

Nige:

A few weeks ago, when Elloa disclosed her secret attraction, I felt like my stomach had been clamped in a vice. Then, as her confession came, an inward surge of Hulk-like anger, all too familiar. My thoughts were no different than some of the judgmental comments that appeared in reaction to her article on The Huffington Post. Let’s face it: the ego always speaks first, and often cruelly.

The difference was, I know enough about this part of my mind not to voice my thoughts at this point. The first thing I have to do in these moments is take a breath, then another one, then another one. If I react now, it’s game on for the ego, but game over for the relationship — and I won’t let the ego win, because it viciously guards a set of mistaken beliefs that drive me further and further away from the one thing I truly want the most: love.

Therefore, Elloa and I have a contract about disclosing our secrets and dark thoughts to each other. We both understand that secrets kill relationships, and see so many couples playing a long-term game of hide and seek with each other. In our marriage, we are determined to fully know and be known by the other, and that means having the kind of raw, honest conversation that Elloa’s article described. The purpose of this is to go beyond the secret thought to the fear of who we are underneath, the fear that is driving that secret thought, desire or behavior.

Having this depth of honesty in our communication is not easy. It is scary, vulnerable and unpredictable.

Fortunately, we have enough tools in our relationship kitbag to be able to work through any form of upset in a safe and contained way, without using the other person as a dumping ground. The critical element in the whole process is the intention that we both set at the beginning.

We did what we always do in this situation, utilizing a therapeutic process (adapted from Clearmind International) that forms a core part of our relationship. The process gives permission to the reactive, raging part of my mind to unleash its fury for three solid minutes without any kind of reaction whatsoever from Ell. Crucial to the process is that she remains neutral, and that no physical boundaries are crossed whatsoever.

When the other person refuses to fight back but also stays the course and remains in a place of neutrality (not always easy to do), something amazing happens: the brutal, vicious attacking part of our mind gives way and we literally “drop” into our feelings. This is the place no man wants to go — a pit of despair, self-loathing, shame and loneliness.

My anger, directed initially towards Elloa for her “disgusting” behavior, was really masking a deep wound that I have carried since I was a boy — the belief that I in fact am completely inadequate and unloveable.

***

2014-10-30-ScreenShot20141030at7.45.04PM.png

The root of this belief lies in my childhood, during which I lost a testicle after being kicked by another boy and the subsequent taunting, which dogged me for most of my schooldays. I grew up believing I was a freak. I called myself the odd man out.

Fast forward 39 years and there I am with my wife, feeling 6 years old again: raw, exposed and vulnerable, with my head in my hands. I am terrified to look up, afraid she will reject me. In that moment, I feel deeply ashamed of who I am.

I know there is only one way through this shame — I have to make contact. I have to let her see me, otherwise I’ll just be an empty shell. If I don’t let her into my world, then I’m doomed to walk this planet as a zombie, a man with a plastic smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. And yet there is so much I want to say. Somehow, I have to take a risk and open up.

As a man, I haven’t been taught by our society how to express my feelings. It’s as taboo as wanting to cheat, forbidden in daily life and permissible only in the direst of circumstances. Even then, only a few tears are allowed before the words “man up” come into play.

Even now, after nearly three decades of inner work, speaking about how I feel often feels clumsy and awkward for me. However, experience has taught me not to listen to the shaming voice that tells me that I’m weak if I cry.

So on the day Ell told me about her crush, I let her hold me while my body shook and the tears poured out of me. I told her everything I fear I am and she just listened, just held me and let me let it all out.

Eventually, I came to a quieter place. The dam, once burst, doesn’t gush water uncontrollably forever. The wave subsides. I am left with my beliefs.

***

After the outrage and attack, after the shame and the guilt, after the tears, there is a moment of true choice. This is the state from which I can change my mind, because here, I am open. Here, I am willing to accept help. I ask my wife, this woman who just a few minutes ago I thought was the cause of all my pain, to help me remember who I am.

And the truth comes back to me. I am not the odd man out. I never was. I am strong. I am worth loving. I am good. And nothing can be taken from me because I have everything I need within.

This is not a theoretical or intellectual knowing, it is an experience I inhabit when I work through, rather than dance around or avoid, my deepest fears. The function of my relationship isn’t to avoid experiencing pain or the realization of my fears — it is to give each other a soft place to land when one of us needs to show up, knowing that the healing is always twofold.

Elloa revealing her attraction therefore became a catalyst for me to expose a war wound that I carry on a daily basis and to do the work of changing my perception of myself. I do not do this work alone. I do it from a mindset of making conscious contact with my wife and with myself.

I’m a normal guy; I have thoughts of sexual attraction towards other women almost every day. Some are fleeting while others linger. It’s the ones that linger that trouble me the most. But I know that with each attraction there is an opportunity — often not as dramatic as this one — to take a step closer to my wife, to myself and to being the type of man I want the world to know exists.

Lena Dunham Wants To Turn ‘Catherine, Called Birdy’ Into A Movie

Lena Dunham discussed a wide array of topics with writer and author Ariel Levy during the 15th annual New Yorker Festival on Friday night, including her aspirations to turn Karen Cushman’s “Catherine, Called Birdy” into a feature film.

“This is actually my first time talking about it publicly,” Dunham said about the project. “I’m very excited about it. I’m not sure when it’ll happen, but I’m in the process of [working on it].”

Written by Cushman, the 1994 novel — which won the Newbury Prize in 1995 — tells the story of Catherine, a 12-year-old coming of age in 1290 England. “[She] gets her period and her father basically says, ‘Well, it’s time for you to get married,’ and she’s like, ‘Uh, no,'” Dunham told the crowd. “But it’s hyper realistic and really pretty and it’s full of incest and beatings, but it’s a child’s story. I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a kid.” Dunham previously cited “Catherine, Called Birdy” as one of the two best books she’s ever read about young girls in an interview with the New York Times in 2012. (Her other selection was Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita.”)

“It’s a really interesting examination of sort of like coming of age and what’s expected of teenage girls,” Dunham said. “I’m going to adapt it and hopefully direct it, I just need to find someone who wants to fund a PG-13 medieval movie.”

Dunham plans to produce the film through A Casual Romance, the production company she started with “Girls” executive producer Jenni Konner. According the 28-year-old, “Catherine, Called Birdy” is one of many projects the duo are working on at the moment “that sort of aren’t set in the here and now.”

“Nothing I’ve done so far has required any research of any real kind beyond, like, going to a diner,” Dunham said, acknowledging how “Catherine, Called Birdy” is not necessarily what some fans have come to expect from her as a writer-director. “So this is a whole other world. But the source material makes me so happy and I’m so excited, because I’ve been working on ‘Girls’ [for five years] and I also wrote this book of personal essays. So the idea of engaging with some of these topics that are important to me, which are — surprise — women and feminism, but finding a way to kind of look at them through a historical lens is sort of like where feel myself going.”

Dunham, who is currently promoting her new book, “Not That Kind of Girl,” said she’ll connect with Cushman to discuss “Catherine, Called Birdy” during a visit to Seattle next weekend.

What the Heart Wants

What the Heart Wants

Candi Heart is layers of mystery in a very appealing package. A lethal combination for Sheriff Grady Wallace. With a nickname like “Candi Heart” and a plan to open a frilly lingerie and perfume shop called Heart’s Desire, Lark Hensley knows she may raise some eyebrows by moving to quiet little Angel Ridge, Tennessee. She hopes no one remembers that the women in her family were once accused of being seductive witches by townsfolk, and that decades ago her moonshiner grandpa committed a deadly crime. Lark has questions she can’t answer and secrets she doesn’t want to share, especially with Angel Ridge Sheriff Grady Wallace, even if Grady is hard to resist. Grady falls hard and quick for the new mystery woman in town, though he’s determined to find out what she’s hiding. Angel Ridge’s one-woman Welcome Committee, Dixie Ferguson, has taken a liking to Candi Heart, and Dixie’s instincts about newcomers are rarely wrong. But maybe not this time. Grady never intended to follow the Wallace family tradition of lawmen, but when his father died young, rebellious Grady grew quickly into the role of staunch town defender. Candi Heart may not have meant to bring trouble to his town, but she has. Someone does remember her family. That someone wants her to leave. or to die. An unknown driver tries to run her down. Her shop is broken into. Rumors begin to swirl. Suddenly Grady is caught between his duty and his heart’s desire for Candi Heart. Deborah Grace Staley has written three books in the Angel Ridge series and is hard at work on a fourth. Visit her at deborahgracestaley.com.

Wife Has Very Specific Instructions On How She Wants To Be Woken Up At 5 A.M.

Waking someone who is admittedly not a morning person before 7 a.m. is much like waking up a hibernating bear from his cave. At times it can be much, much worse.

That’s why one wife, who is not big on mornings, made sure to draft this handwritten contract when asking her husband to wake her up at 5 a.m. so she could get to work early before a big project.

If you read the note carefully, you will notice that after solemnly promising not to get mad at him, the wife stipulates that he may not wake her up by “grabbing my boob and shaking it.”

While that doesn’t exactly sound pleasant, it still beats an alarm clock, if you ask us.
