Lifelong Packers Fan Had The Perfect Reason To Take His Wife’s Last Name

The stars certainly aligned when lifelong Green Bay Packers fan Ryan Holtan-Murphy met his future wife, Marie Packer.

A self-described diehard fan, Holtan-Murphy has been obsessed with the football team since before he could even walk. So when it came time to say “I do,” Holtan-Murphy knew there was one decision he didn’t need to think twice about. His Packers pride would become part of his identity once and for all.

“Honestly it was never even a decision!” Ryan said of taking his bride’s last name. “I love her and love the Packers, so it was a no-brainer. Marie very graciously agreed!”

“Marie’s family is bemused but happy to let me join the party,” he continued. “My family lives in Wisconsin and is completely unsurprised.”

Writing over email from his honeymoon in Turks and Caicos, Ryan recalled the couple’s June 17 nuptials in Chicago, Illinois, which included some key Packers-related details. The groom surprised his bride with a green and gold suit and other decorative accents.

“Marie knew about some of the Packers decorations, but had no idea about the Packers suit,” he said. “I wasn’t sure she’d agree to go through with it if she knew. We also referenced the team in our vows: ’I promise to be a good teammate, just like the other Packers…”

The team hasn’t reached out to the couple, though Miller Lite, the Green Bay Packers’ official beer sponsor, sent some beverages to the wedding and the newlyweds’ home. They also gave the pair two tickets to every Packers home game this season.

Sweet Husband Got His Wife’s Fingerprint Etched Onto His Wedding Band

Men often get the short end of the stick as far as wedding rings go. So when someone thinks outside the box, we can’t help but hand it to them.

Reddit user Im_High_Tech did just that by having his wife’s actual fingerprint etched onto his wedding band.

In an accompanying thread, he revealed that he was inspired a similar ring he had seen and “thought it would be great to make my wedding band more unique than stuff you buy at the store.”

But creating this declaration of undying commitment, which ran him just shy of $ 1,000, turned out to be quite a labor of love ― for both parties involved. He wrote that his partner had to “dip her thumb into ink like 70 times to get the perfect fingerprint” and he “had to photoshop the crap out of it because apparently on a microscopic level, a fingerprint is very messy.”

But the result, this oh-so personal band, appears to have been worth it. “This will also be my prized possession,” he wrote in response to one of the comments on the ring.

Seth Rosen, CEO and co-founder of Custom Made, where the ring was designed and created, told HuffPost they get a range of requests for personalized jewelry, from fingerprints (which he said has seen an uptick since this one showed up on Reddit) to materials sourced by the couple themselves.

“Some pieces are novel because they incorporate something very personal,” he said. “Like the pendant we created from a customer’s drawing of an olive branch growing from a broken heart:”

Rosen said something like the fingerprint ring would cost between $ 300-$ 350 in sterling silver all the way up to $ 900-$ 1,200 for a heavier gold.

Our minds are reeling with the print-abilities.

After His Wife’s Death, Man Still Uses The Last Coffee Can She Bought

When his wife of 41 years died of skin cancer in 2012, David Hoskins packed up and moved in with his daughter to nearby Hazard, Kentucky.

Hoskins didn’t take much with him, but he kept two things: the last can of coffee his wife Karen bought before she got sick and the spoon she used to stir her coffee every morning.

Five years later, the 66-year-old widow still uses both every day.

“Looking at that picture of him with his coffee can, you’d never know that that’s all he has left of her,” his daughter Kim Hoskins Fields wrote in a now-viral Facebook post shared on the page Love What Matters on Saturday. “Because that’s how they always started their day was with coffee, and so each day he starts his day with my mama.”

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Hoskins Fields said the spoon and the Maxwell House coffee canister ― which her dad refills when it starts to get low ― are sacred items in her home.

“When he moved in his things, he told me to never throw the can away and to never touch the spoon inside of it,” she said. “He didn’t want it mixed up with my other spoons.”

“I kind of laughed and asked him why,” Hoskins Fields said. “He explained that it was all he kept because it made him feel close to her, like she was still there each morning.”

The couple had six kids during their marriage (two from Hoskin’s previous marriage), so couple-time was often in short supply. Every morning, though, they made time for coffee.

“Even when I was little and she went to work super early he would get up with her and have a cup,” their daughter said.

Karen’s diagnosis of melanoma in October 2012 came out of nowhere and he grappled with the news, according to his daughter. Two months later, Karen died.

“When she was dying, he made himself sick with worry and tried to save her,” Hoskins Fields said. “He begged and pleaded with God. He would have traded anything, gave anything or done anything to save her.”

These days, coffee is all Hoskins needs to remember his late wife.

“He says he has all the pictures and memories he wants in his mind,” she said. “He kept what he knew would make him feel the closest to her.”

Photographer Incorporates Deployed Dad Into Wife’s Maternity Photos

A Texas photographer found a beautiful way to make sure a deployed soldier was part of his wife’s maternity photos.

Nicole Bedwell was expecting her first child with her husband Wesley when she hired Traci Fugitt of Traci Lynn Photography to do a maternity shoot. Wesley was stationed 7,000 miles away in Japan and couldn’t be present for the shoot, so the two women decided to find another way to make him part of the photos.

“We planned to bring props to give a nod to him being away,” Fugitt told The Huffington Post in an email.

Though Nicole posed with a photo of Wesley and other props to pay tribute to her husband, she and Fugitt also came up with another idea. The mom-to-be asked her husband to pose with his hand outstretched outside in Japan and send the photo to Fugitt.

“I put them side by side to show the difference between the locations in different countries,” said the photographer, adding that she believes the final image shows a couple waiting together, despite their separation.

Fugitt said Nicole and Wesley loved the photos, which moved many of their family members to tears.

Though Nicole’s due date was April 22, she delivered on April 13 after doctors decide to induce labor due to her hypertension. “Wesley was still deployed, and they had already bought a ticket for the first date,” Fugitt told HuffPost. “But Nicole worked for an entire day on the phone getting a new ticket to get him home.”

He made it home a day before she was induced.

Nicole and Wesley welcomed a baby girl, whom they named Pyper. Though the baby has to spend some time in the NICU due to breathing issues, the family is hoping she will stabilize and go home wit her parents before Wesley has to deploy again.

Fugitt said they’re hoping to take newborn photos with Wesley before he leaves as well.

But for now, the side-by-side maternity image is a fitting tribute to their family.

Said the photographer, “Even 7,000 miles away, Wesley’s love for his wife and newborn daughter is amazing.”

Aaron Paul Planned The Most Epic Surprise For His Wife’s 30th Birthday

As far as husbands go, it doesn’t get much better than Aaron Paul.

In an episode of “Ellen” that aired Tuesday, the “Breaking Bad” actor told the host how he pulled off an epic surprise for his wife Lauren Parsekian’s 30th birthday in December.

So in love with Thailand and Thai people and these humans and this day and this planet and the universe amen.

A photo posted by Lauren Paul (@laurenpaul8) on

Paul told Parsekian that the two of them were going on a romantic getaway to Thailand ― but little did she know that her husband had secretly flown out a bunch of her best friends to join them on the trip.

“They were in the back of the plane,” Paul told DeGeneres. “She had no idea that they were back there. So when she was sleeping, I would sneak in the back and have drinks with them.”

Adorned in party hats, her friends surprised her at the Hong Kong airport, a moment you can see in the video above.

“She kept saying how excited she was to go on a trip just her and I,” Paul added. “And I’m like, ‘Oh no this is gonna backfire on me.’ But it all worked out.”

The couple tied the knot in 2013 in Parisian carnival-themed wedding in Malibu, California, after first meeting at Coachella. Over the years, Paul has publicly gushed about his wife, who he calls his “pretty bird,” time and time again.

“Let me tell you, my friend, I will be in the honeymoon phase until I leave this planet,” Paul told People in 2013. “Getting married to Lauren was the greatest accomplishment of my life.”
