Avengers 4 Title Will Be Revealed by the End of This Year

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has provided an update on when Avengers 4’s title will be unveiled.

Speaking to Collider, Feige has confirmed the name for the fourth Avengers movie will be announced by the end of this year. The mysterious title is expected to be revealed sometime after Captain Marvel’s teaser trailer debuts, which we recently learned won’t be timed with Ant-Man and the Wasp.

“That’ll be after the Captain Marvel teaser probably, announcing that title,” Feige said. “It’ll be towards the end of the year with however we launch that film.”

Mario Lopez Shares the Parenting Tips that Won Him Father of the Year (No. 4 Is So Sweet!)

Everyone is telling their dad this Father’s Day that he’s the Father of the Year, but only a few men can say they were actually given that title at an awards ceremony. This year, Mario Lopez (as well as Willie Geist and PVH CEO Manny Chirico) were honored by the National Father’s Day Council for their work balancing career and fatherhood – though in Lopez’s case, he says it really is as easy as he makes it look.

“If it doesn’t involve my family or the well being of them, it’s all the small stuff, and I don’t sweat it,” he tells PEOPLE. “Your whole thought process changes. No matter how long or how stressful the day, when I open the door and I hear the little feet coming and yelling ‘Daddy!’ it kinda makes everything feel better.”

Clearly his kids (with wife Courtney Mazza) Gia, 7, and Dominic, 4, already think their dad is the best, but what does it mean for a council dedicated to promoting fatherhood role models to give him the designation? “I gotta tell ya, out of all the different accolades I have received over the years, whether for wrestling or other sport, or my Emmys and all that kind of stuff, this is cool because it’s based on my character – judging your sense of responsibility on things that really matter,” he says. “Being a father is my favorite role yet, and to be recognized for it is truly incredible. I embrace it, love it, and every moment is cool.”

So as the official Father of the Year, does Lopez feel qualified to dispense advice? “You will hear a lot of advice from various different people, but if you come from a place of love, you can’t go wrong,” he says. His top tips?

“Some people want to go be their friend, you gotta be a parent first. Kids respond to respect, structure and discipline.”
“You gotta listen to your kids too, though, you can’t just talk down to them.”
“Get as much help as you can whether it’s grandma, or nannies – any and as much support as you can. Don’t try to be a superhero all by yourself.”
“I think children respond to positive attention and positive atmosphere. So, if they see Dad loving on Mom and see you happy, I think that’s a beautiful thing.”
“Last thing: monitor your child’s use of the Internet. That’s another important one.”

Does he take advice from other celebrity dads? “I’m not really into taking advice from other celebrities, but there are other dads out there that I like and respect,” he says. “I like Mark Wahlberg a lot, he’s got a few kids, he’s Catholic like I am. I love the Rock, the way he is with his daughter, he’s another dad I admire who I’ve known for a long time.”

Ultimately, Lopez relies on his own parenting philosophy to be the best dad he can to his kids. “If you come from a place of love, you can’t really go wrong. But have structure, maintain a strong form of discipline; you gotta be a parent first. Stay united as parents,” he says. “I am a little better when it comes to the tough disciplinarian stuff, I think I’m pretty good at laying down the law and being firm. My wife is pretty much better at everything else!”

So what does the Father of the Year want for Father’s Day on Sunday? “Just laying in bed and sleeping all day. I’m always running around and doing something. Chilling in bed, falling in and out of naps.”

Father’s Day Spending Expected to Hit $15.3 Billion This Year

Dads can expect a little less to be spent on them for Father’s Day this year.
According to a study by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics, spending on the holiday is projected to reach $ 15.3 billion this year, down just slightly from the $ 15.5 billion spent last year.
This translates into an average of $ 133 a person for the 77 percent of Americas who plan on celebrating the holiday on June 17. Individuals between 25 and 34 years of age are expected to spend the most, an average of $ 188.
“We are pleased to see consumer confidence continue to rise, leading to another near-record holiday spend on Father’s Day,” said NRF president and chief executive officer Matthew Shay. “Leading into the second half of the year, Americans are looking forward to treating their dads, and retailers will be prepared to offer a variety of gift options that will create new memories on this special day.”
According to the survey, consumers plan to spend $ 2.2 billion on apparel, which is expected to be purchased by 43 percent of shoppers; $ 2.1 billion on gift cards (42 percent), and $ 1.8 billion on consumer electronics (20 percent). In addition, $ 878 million will be spent on home

Roseanne Barr Thought She Was Going Blind for a Whole Year — But It Was a Misdiagnosis

After a whole year of thinking she was going blind due to macular degeneration and glaucoma, Roseanne Barr received some good news: She was no longer losing her eyesight, and it was a misdiagnosis all along.

“I went to a new doctor about a year ago,” Barr tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week’s issue, on stands Friday. “She told me I don’t have macular degeneration, but rather a mole on the inside of my eye that’s growing, and that’s why my vision is narrowing. Probably in the next year or so I can get it removed. I have a bad eye, but I’m not losing my eyesight.”

“My dad has macular degeneration so I thought it was genetic,” she adds. “I just accepted it. It was a way better diagnosis than some of my friends were getting. It’s not deadly. I didn’t take it too badly.”

In 2015, the 65-year-old actress was given the news of her deteriorating eyesight and immediately took to her own treatment plan.

“I have macular degeneration and glaucoma, so is good for me for that because I have pressure in my eyes. It’s a good medicine for a lot of things,” Barr previously told the Daily Beast.

For more on the Roseanne revival, pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on stands Friday

While Barr admits that she was scared at first, she eventually learned to accept the health scare.

“I’m positive that nothing will go right in life,” she says. “That lets me off the hook. You never know. It’s never what you think and it’s never what you dread – it’s always something else that you didn’t expect. So you might as well live every day and have as much fun as you can. Do at least one good deed a day anonymously. Have as much fun as you can have.”

Want to keep up on the latest from PEOPLE? Sign
up for our daily newsletter
to get our best stories of the day delivered straight to your inbox.

Now, Barr, who spends a lot of her free time babysitting her grandkids and working on her macadamia nut farm in Hawaii, just finished wrapping the revival of Roseanne as a limited ABC series.

“The first day in the writers room, I thought I was in heaven,” she says. “Every idea I had all this time, I had pitched to them and they picked them right up. It was kind of like a machine – it worked so well. The first day on the set, I hadn’t seen John (Goodman) or Laurie (Metcalfe) for a long time, and there we were. It was really exciting to watch them rebuild the set — it’s just perfect. It still felt new, but very familiar.”

The Roseanne revival premieres Tuesday on at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Galeries Lafayette Rings In Year of the Dog With Chinese Display

URBAN LANDSCAPES: Galeries Lafayette, tuned in to the growing importance of consumers from China, unveiled displays by Chinese artist Song Xiewei in the windows lining its Paris flagship to kick off the Chinese New Year, which begins Friday.
Executives from the French department store and the Chinese ambassador to France lined up to cut the red ribbon for the displays along the Boulevard Haussmann to reveal hanging stretches of embroidered, fabric-covered sculptures depicting the mountain forms painted by the 12th-century landscape master Wang Ximeng. The dreamy, cloudlike pieces of various elongated shapes represented the Song dynasty painting “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains.”
The store is offering special Spring Festival products geared to Chinese customers through March 4, including a Swatch Woof watch and limited edition of Panerai watches covered with a dog engraving. Packets of red, hand-engraved cards from Smythson will be offered for purchases above 250 euros.
After the ribbon-cutting, the Chinese delegation, which included officials from the country’s state-owned Arts and Entertainment Group, and French executives moved upstairs to an intimate cocktail event in the Angelina café tucked behind the luxury fashion labels on a higher floor of the store. Decorated with red carpet, red lanterns and flickering fake candles,

Did Hillary Clinton Help Make Ultra Violet Pantone’s Color of the Year

PURPLE REIGN: Has Hillary Clinton helped make ultra violet the Pantone Color of the Year 2018?
It is safe to say that no other pubic figure indirectly championed the unmistakable shade than the former presidential candidate in the past year or so. Conceding defeat to Donald Trump in November, Clinton wore a Ralph Lauren Collection gray pantsuit with purple accents and a purple crewneck blouse at the New Yorker Hotel. For added effect, her husband Bill stood in the wings wearing a tie in the same hue. The prom queen and prom king combo delivered a message of unity, according to trend forecaster Li Edelkoort.
At a time when many diehard Democrats and Republicans were not seeing eye-to-eye, Clinton chose purple, which is a combination of blue and red. “She symbolized the unity of these two extremes, which I think was very wise and beautiful and symbolic,” said Edelkoort, adding that Tim Kaine’s wife Anne Holton wore the color, too, “so they really decided on it.”
Nearly 20 months after the musician Prince’s death, fashion is having a purple moment. Varying shades of purple appeared on spring or fall runways from such designers as Christopher Kane, Carolina Herrera, Ann Demeulemeester, Alberta Ferretti, Calvin

Cannes Film Festival to Start a Day Earlier Next Year

SWITCHING DATES: The Cannes Film Festival will start a day earlier next year, a change that moves the awards ceremony to Saturday, rather than Sunday as in previous years, in a bid to increase the exposure of the event.
The festival will run for the same amount of time as before, and is now scheduled for Tuesday, May 8, through Saturday, May 19.
“The festival is beginning a new period in its history,” said Pierre Lescure, who runs the event. The new schedule is intended to “rebalance the two weeks of the event” as well as bring “new energy to the proceedings,” after celebrating the 70th anniversary last year, organizers of the film bonanza said in a statement.
“We intend to renew the principles of our organization as much as possible, while continuing to question the cinema of our age and to be present through its upheavals,” Lescure also said.
The Tuesday start also means an additional gala evening before the festival weekend.

Victoria Beckham Partners With Reebok, Plans Collaboration for Next Year

BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM: With her new deal with Reebok, Victoria Beckham is the latest designer to link up with a major athletic brand.
The British-born designer let her 17.6 million Instagram followers know by posting a video of herself wearing the Club C sneakers outside of the company’s new Boston headquarters. She made the most of her first day on the scene, hosting an all-company meeting, touring the office, checking out the brand’s archives and holding initial design and planning meetings.
The choice of Beckham is meant to further Reebok’s message of women’s empowerment, which includes a roster of internationally known personalities like Ariana Grande, Gigi Hadid, Aly Raisman and Teyana Taylor. With four children and a multimillion-dollar business, Beckham would appear to have little time for exercise. Whippet-lean as she is, Beckham has spoken publicly about her daily two-hour morning workouts and healthy diet. Reebok executives undoubtedly approve of that regimen. The fact that Beckham’s designs are meant to relay a sense of strength, confidence and power also met their approval.
Beckham said, “I have always championed instilling confidence in women and Reebok is a brand that has been at the forefront of this same message for decades. To have the

Tory Burch Foundation Fellows Program Kicks Off Third Year

Applications are now open for the third annual Tory Burch Foundation Fellows Program.
The year-long Fellowship initiative invites women entrepreneurs to apply for the opportunity, which includes the chance to participate in a pitch competition for a $ 100,000 grant investment in their business. All Fellows receive a trip to Tory Burch headquarters in New York, access to networking and $ 10,000 for business education. Applications are available at toryburchfoundation.org/fellows through Nov. 9.
Tory Burch, founder of the Tory Burch Foundation, said, “We are excited to open applications for our annual Fellows Program. Our goal is to help women grow their businesses and get beyond the million-dollar threshold, because when women succeed their success impacts families and communities.”
Interestingly, only 2 percent of all women-owned businesses reach $ 1 million in annual revenues while businesses owned by men are 3.5 times more likely to reach that threshold mark. With the Fellows program, the Foundation’s goal is to change this equation by providing women entrepreneurs with the support they need to grow their businesses. The program has seen some tangible results. Two Fellows from the inaugural program have already surpassed $ 1 million in annual revenues.

Kevin Hart Celebrates First Anniversary with Pregnant Wife: ‘1 Year Down and the Rest of Our Life to Go’

Kevin Hart and his wife Eniko Parrish have one year of married life in the books!

The comedian commemorated his first anniversary with a black and white photo of the couple — and soon-to-be parents! — smiling as they danced together at their wedding.

“Happy 1 year anniversary to this unbelievable wife of mine,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank u for all that you do. Thank you for loving me & supporting me at the highest level…Thank you for loving & embracing my kids & the way you do…Thank you for turning my house into home…Thank you for simply making me Happy….”

He continued, “You are & will forever be my ‘Rib’….1 year down & the rest of our life to go….Our family & our union is getting bigger & stronger & I love it!!!!!”

The duo married last August in a lavish California ceremony after a two-year engagement and many years together. “I already feel married, the wedding is really just for her,” he told Entertainment Weekly at the time.

The couple broke their baby news in May, telling PEOPLE that they are expecting their first child together — a little boy. “We are overjoyed about our new addition to our family,” they said in a joint statement. (Hart also has two children from a previous marriage: son Hendrix, 9½, and daughter Heaven, 12.)

The 38-year-old Ride Along star posted a photo of himself in mid-cackle to Instagram last month, appearing to respond to claims that he had been caught cheating on his wife after photos of him in a car with a woman after a nightclub appearance in Miami Beach surfaced online.

“At the end of the day, you just gotta laugh at the BS,” Hart wrote, seemingly dismissing the claims — which had caused his name to trend on Twitter throughout the day. “#LiveLoveLaugh ….. .”

101-Year-Old Woman Breaks 100-Meter Record for Her Age Group — and Only Started Racing Last Year

The number that matters the most to 101-year-old Julia “Hurricane” Hawkins is not her age, but her race time.

Hawkins, a former schoolteacher hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, won the 100-meter dash in a blazing 40.12 seconds at the USA Track and Field Outdoors Masters Championships this weekend, according to the Washington Post.

Her time is a world record for women aged 100 and over, pending its verification in December. As of now, that’s six seconds faster than the current certified record.

Hawkins quipped of her victory, “I missed my nap for this.”

But that’s not all.

Earlier this month, Hawkins participated in the 30th annual National Senior Games in Birmingham, Alabama, and ran the 100-meter dash in 39.62 seconds. You’re reading that right — that’s a faster time than the one she earned this weekend. That means, pending the verification, she has two chances to hold on to the record.

“I came to run, and that’s what I did,” a proud Hawkins told the NSGA after her 39-second race.

Proving that it’s never too late to start anew, Hawkins only started her track and field career last year at age 100. But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been an active person for a long time.

According to The Advocate in Baton RougeHawkins is a longtime bicyclist (she rides everyday) and was on a bike when first competed in the National Senior Games when she was 75. Hawkins says she gave up after the National Senior Games in 2001 when there was a lack of female competition. But, she was persuaded to compete in last year’s Louisiana State Games by her children, and that is what led to her record-breaking performances.

RELATED VIDEO: Watch This 90-Year-Old Grandfather Serenade His Wife for 70th Anniversary: ‘She’s the Only One’

Today, she practices the 100-meter in her neighborhood, she told WBRZ. When she’s not on her bike or running the dash, she likes to take care of the house, tend to her bonsai trees, and engage in her primary workout: running from the garden to answer the phone when it rings.

Hawkins likes to live simply, and she says her secret to a long life is as easy as eating healthy, exercising, and family.

Oh, and one more thing:

“I tell people the thing I recommend is to marry a good man,” Hawkins explained. “If you marry to a man for 70 years and have four wonderful children and then you have great grandchildren. You can’t ask much more than that.”

A Year Since Zoo Closure, Hundreds of Animals Remain Caged Inside

One year after closing down, the 140-year-old Buenos Aires Zoo remains a home for the hundreds of caged animals that were left behind. All of the city-owned animals trapped and their livelihood ignored. The busy streets of Argentina’s capital surrounds the shut-down facility, which opened in 1875, and has now been converted into a park.

Over 1,000 animals were going to be relocated to sanctuaries according to the statements from developers last summer, but the animals continue to live in inhumane conditions a year later. This week, a new plan was released by city officials that centers on the layout and expansion of the park but leaves scarce details on the future of these animals.

“It’s gone from bad to worse. Everything is set for Noah’s Arc to be shipwrecked,” said Claudio Bertonatti, former Buenos Aires zoo director and consultant for the Fundacion Azara non-governmental organization.

Here is look at some of the animals at Buenos Aires Zoo:

City officials have struggled with the process of transferring the animals, needing the authorization of legislation and a study done by an official to determine what animals can be moved. And it was just recently that an official was hired. A critical problem for the zoo-trained animals is the exposure to the wild and possibly dying if moved from their current habitant. A number of groups—including veterinarian groups—want specifics from officials. In April, they took action by writing a letter demanding answers on the future conditions for these animals. Some of the animals, like the three elephants residing at the park, even have legal representation demanding better quality of life.

‘Bachelor’ Stars Ben Higgins And Lauren Bushnell Split After Over A Year Together

Sadly, another “Bachelor” couple has ended their engagement.

Ben Higgins, who starred on Season 20 of the ABC franchise, has officially called it quits with his fiancée, Lauren Bushnell, according to People. The two shared a statement on their split:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to go our separate ways. We feel fortunate for the time we had together, and will remain friends with much love and respect for one another. We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time.

Cue lots of tears.

Higgins and Bushnell got engaged ahead of the season premiere of “The Bachelor” Season 20 in January 2016. Although they had to keep their relationship a secret while the season played out on the air, it was pretty clear that Higgins had a special bond with Bushnell right from the beginning. She beat out runner-up ― and future Bachelorette ― JoJo Fletcher for his heart and a Neil Lane diamond ring.

Rumors of a split have been floating around for months, but Higgins shot down any speculation with an Instagram post in February.

In October 2016, the couple revealed they were in couples therapy, with Higgins telling People at the time, “We’re not the perfect couple. Far from it! But we are trying really hard, and we love each other a lot … ’Bachelor’ or not, our life is not easy to navigate. We have our struggles. But we won’t give up. And for every argument, we’re stronger for it.”

The pair, who debuted their own reality series, “Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?,” on Freeform in October, moved in together last April in Denver, Colorado. (Clearly, the show won’t be back for a Season 2, but at least we still have the Ferguson twins!)

Bushnell, who’s now a lifestyle blogger, hasn’t posted a photo of Higgins in a month. The former Bachelor, however, just shared a picture of his former love last week, writing, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. -Martin Luther King Jr.” @laurenbushnell continues to spread love while some feel it is their responsibility to spread hate, she is a light in this world. Proud of my gal, @laurenbushnell got me .”

This Woman Wore Her Engagement Ring For A Year Without Even Knowing It

One unsuspecting woman was wearing her engagement ring for over a year without even realizing it.

How exactly is this possible, you might ask? It all started when an Australian man named Terry made his girlfriend Anna a necklace out of Huon pine ― a wood native to Tasmania  ― for their one-year anniversary in 2015. Unbeknownst to Anna, Terry had hidden an engagement ring inside the necklace.

For a year and a half, Anna wore that necklace almost every day without knowing there was anything, let alone an engagement ring, inside.

During a trip to Smoo Cave in northern Scotland in November 2016, Terry was finally ready to pop the question and to reveal the big surprise.

“I picked Smoo Cave because it was a place we had talked about visiting since we first met, and ‘smoo’ comes from an old Norse word for ‘hiding place,’ so I think I get extra points for that one,” Terry told HuffPost.

Just before the proposal, Terry asked Anna for the necklace, telling her he was going to take a nice photo of it propped up on some rocks.

That’s when he grabbed a knife to secretly break a seal he had placed on the piece of jewelry.

He told Anna, “Oh, I forgot to give you your necklace back,” pulled the jewelry from his pocket, got down on one knee and cracked it open while asking her to marry him.

“She stood there with this completely confused and dumbfounded look on her face, and when she finally worked out what had just happened, she yelled, ‘Yes!’ and pounced on me,” he told HuffPost.

“It actually took her a couple of moments to understand that the ring had been in the necklace the entire time since I gave it to her,” he continued. “She flipped out ― ‘Wait, it’s been in there the entire time?! I could have lost it, you f**king idiot!’, which was a hilarious mix of happy and angry.”

The couple is saving up to buy a home and hopes that they will someday be able to host their wedding at the house.

“We are hoping to buy a house with land so we can have the wedding at home with our friends and family, in a very relaxed fashion that we think matches us ― rather than having a gigantic, glamorous wedding, which isn’t like us at all,” Terry said.

We can’t wait to see what fun wedding surprises Terry has up his sleeve.

What John Legend And Chrissy Teigen Learned In One Year Of Parenting

It’s a big day for John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. Their daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, turns 1 today!

What a year it’s been for the couple, who have opened up about parenting experiences like sleep deprivation, postpartum depression and shaming― on and off social media.

Happy birthday, Luna Simone!

A post shared by John Legend (@johnlegend) on

In honor of Luna’s birthday, we’ve rounded up some of her famous parents’ standout quotes about raising kids. Keep scrolling for some reflective, hilarious and always real thoughts on parenting from John Legend and Chrissy Teigen.

On birth:

“No one told me I would be coming home in diapers too.” ― Chrissy

On the pressure to “bounce back”:

“Anyone in the public eye, we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed everything. So I think people get this jaded sensation that everybody’s losing [pregnancy weight] so quickly, but we just happen to be the ones who are out there. We have nutritionists, we have dietitians, we have trainers, we have our own schedules, we have nannies. We have people who make it possible for us to get back into shape. But nobody should feel like that’s normal, or like that’s realistic.” ― Chrissy

A post shared by John Legend (@johnlegend) on

On being a new parent:

“It just takes over your life when you have a child … I spent a lot of time at home with her for the first three months and with my wife, you know, it just humbles you. I think everyone struggles with being a new parent, everyone’s trying to figure it out and I think it’s a humbling process.” ― John

On shaming:

“Funny there’s no dad-shaming. When both of us go out to dinner, shame both of us so Chrissy doesn’t have to take it all. We’ll split it.” ― John

“I know that when I post something, if she’s in a car seat, I’ve got to be ready for the million people telling me she’s in the car seat wrong, even though she’s in there correctly. At this point, I know what they’re going to say before they say it. If I’m holding her while I’m cooking, or if I’m holding her within 10 feet of a stove top, I’ve kind of just come to expect it.” ― Chrissy

“Photos are literally split-second moments in time that evolve. I despise mommy shamers. I am a proud shamer of mommy shamers.” ― Chrissy

A post shared by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

On equal parenting:

“[There are] a lot of people that still think it’s a woman’s job to do the child rearing. I think it’s something we should share.” ― John

On breastfeeding:

“I just think it’s so funny. Sometimes I’m Googling how to do it better. I’m like, ‘Is it working? Is it taking? I don’t think I’m feeling enough pain!’ You just get so confused about how it’s supposed to feel, and as hard as anyone said it was, I feel like it somehow managed to be harder.” ― Chrissy

“They just use you for your milk and you just feel like you are just a cow all day.” ― Chrissy

“Just spray tanned around my breast pump outline. The logistical challenges of a healthy beach glow while boobing are incredible.” ― Chrissy

have you ever seen a more "why me?" face

A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

On postpartum depression:

“Getting out of bed to get to set on time was painful. My lower back throbbed; my shoulders — even my wrists — hurt. I didn’t have an appetite. I would go two days without a bite of food, and you know how big of a deal food is for me … I couldn’t figure out why I was so unhappy. I blamed it on being tired and possibly growing out of the role: ‘Maybe I’m just not a goofy person anymore. Maybe I’m just supposed to be a mom.’” ― Chrissy

“You don’t see it coming. You’re not emotionally prepared for someone that’s going through a dark time as you’re welcoming this new life. When you don’t understand what’s happening, it’s a bit challenging to figure it out and you don’t know if it’s something you’ve done or some other reason why she’s not feeling well. Once you understand what the reasons are then it makes perfect sense and you can adjust accordingly.” ― John

“You should read about it and understand what it is and really just be there to help. You need to be present and you need to be compassionate. And we’re all learning and trying to figure it out as we go. At least do that and try to figure it out together.” ― John

Back on set for #lipsyncbattle season 3B!

A post shared by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

On watching your baby grow up:

“I love seeing Luna grow and develop. I love all the new things that happen every week, every day even. And I LOVE when she smiles!” ― John

“I want to work less now, you know? I want to be home more, and be able to just help my wife with whatever she needs. Also, just be there to experience [Luna] growing up. I want to take them on tour. I want to be around.” ― John

On “doing it all”:

“My mom lives with us. I have hair and makeup people. I’m not getting up and doing all this by myself. If I’m not being done for something, I’m not going anywhere. A lot of hands go into it. We have help. It’s important for people to know that.” ― Chrissy

6 months old!

A post shared by John Legend (@johnlegend) on

On sleep:

“My biggest parenting conundrum: why it is so hard to put someone who is already sleepy to sleep?” ― Chrissy

“When Luna is awake I want her to sleep and when she is asleep I want her awake. This is my parenting life.” ― Chrissy

On date night:

“I’m not kidding, I go there not to watch a movie, I go there to sleep. I order food, lay on my side and shovel it into my mouth. I get the blanket and lay there and he watches the movie and I am passed out.” ― Chrissy

On hopes for the future:

“Just having the product of our love right in front of us, it’s a really powerful thing. I feel the responsibility that comes with that. We want to raise her into a great human being and hopefully, we can do that. It makes you kind of reprioritize what matters the most to you, and think about the kind of world you want to raise your daughter in.” ― John

Utah Family Who Sold Belongings to Live on the Road for a Year Announce Next Big Adventure: ‘It Won’t Be Easy’

After selling practically everything they owned to live on the road for a year in a fifth-wheel trailer, a Utah family of six has decided since returning home that a quiet life in the suburbs is not for them.

So Michael and Marisa Johnson and their four children are once again leaving their hometown of Eagle Mountain — this time to live in South America.

Beginning in mid-March, they’ll spend a year volunteering with Operation Underground Railroad, hoping to comfort children who have been rescued from sex trafficking and have no homes to return to because they were either sold as sex slaves or their families have moved away.

“I think about my own children and know that if they had endured something so horrific, I’d want somebody to be there for them,” Marisa, 40, tells PEOPLE. “We want to help these kids to see that they now have a voice and a choice of what they do with the rest of their lives.”

Doing something outside of their comfort zone became important to the Johnsons when they returned to Utah last year after renting out their home, selling most of their possessions and hitting the highway in search of adventure and togetherness in a 400-square-foot trailer, blogging about their new lifestyle along the way.

Michael, 40, gave up his job as an investor at a local bank; Marisa decided that she could run her essential oils business anywhere, and their four children — Reece, 16, Maya, 13, Mason, 11, and Madelyn, 7 — agreed to put their social lives on hold for a year.

“It seemed that I was never home — I was always working,” Michael tells PEOPLE, “and it bothered us that we weren’t writing our own story. So we decided, ‘Why be defined by our stuff? Let’s release it and go. Why not take a chance?’ ”

Because the Johnson kids are homeschooled, it was fairly easy to transfer their daily routines to the kitchen table of the $ 55,000 trailer purchased for the trip.

Sharing one bedroom together, though? Not so much.

“The hardest part was having to share a bed with my sister (Maya) and not having very many toys,” says Madelyn. “But visiting a jelly bean factory, meeting new people and going to lots of beaches helped make up for it.”

In one year, the Johnsons and their two yellow labs, Lily and Jada, made it to 27 states, stopping at every national park and museum they could find along the way. Craters of the Moon in Idaho was one favorite stop, along with the beaches of Big Sur in northern California and Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina.

Each family member was allowed to bring enough clothes to fit on two shelves, plus two totes for toys, books, electronics and favorite mementos.

“We stayed in RV parks along the way and had to go grocery shopping about every three days,” Marisa tells PEOPLE. “The kids spent several hours every day doing homework, but seeing the amazing diversity of our country was the best education they could have asked for. Being on the road together 24/7, we all learned what’s important. The trip brought us closer together.”

For “alone” time, everyone relied on earphones to escape with their favorite music now and then, she says, “and if there was an argument, you learned to forgive and forget pretty quickly.”

When they returned home to Utah last fall, the Johnsons decided to look for another opportunity to grow as a family, only this time while serving others. When Marisa learned about a care center in South America for children who had been rescued from sex trafficking, she knew there was no need to search further.

In a week or two, after the fifth-wheel trailer is sold, the family will pack their suitcases and fly to an undisclosed nation to volunteer for one year.

“We’re hoping to make a difference in these kids’ lives somehow,” says Michael, “and we want to let them know that somebody’s there for them. A lot of them were sold by family members or taken away with the promise of a modeling or acting career. We want to help them start over and know they are loved.”

“Living away from home for another year won’t be easy,” he admits, “but it’s important to focus on others, and not just ourselves. That’s the lesson we hope our kids will take away from this: We’re all in this world together.”

Sorry, You Don’t Actually Have A Year To Send A Wedding Gift

You may have heard somewhere that guests have up to a year after the wedding to send a gift to the newlywed couple.

These days, though, etiquette experts insist that a year is way, way too long to wait.

“A year is a long time and a lot can change!” Amber Harrison of Wedding Paper Divas told The Huffington Post. “For example, it is totally possible that the couple might be making a big cross-country move or welcoming a new baby one year after the wedding, in which case receiving a wedding gift might feel out of place.”

So how long is the window, really?

“Guidance for proper timing of the gift is not as clear cut,” Harrison added. “Gifts are welcome and appropriate at any time before the wedding and even at the reception. It is perfectly fine for gifts to also arrive after the wedding, but it should be soon enough that the wedding is still top of mind. There are always exceptions to the rule, but sending a gift more than a month or two after the wedding is probably too long.”

There you have it.

Mostly Free Ideas For Celebrating Valentine’s Day Throughout The Year

Valentine’s Day … I never truly understood it. As history would have it, loved ones exchange flowers and candies in the name of St. Valentine. It’s supposed to be this big day of romance. But, my philosophy is: when you love someone, you shouldn’t need a holiday to tell you to do nice things for them; we should have our own Valentine’s Days throughout the year whenever we feel like it.

Life is too short to not let your loved ones know you love them and let them know often, be it a parent, sibling, significant other, pet — anyone! If you ask me, Valentine’s Day should be celebrated throughout the year. I also believe that showing someone you love them does not need to be extravagant especially if you don’t have the funds for that and thus, here are some of my ideas on how to “celebrate Valentine’s Day” throughout the year.

1. Say it in a text message.

Send a loved one an unexpected text message to show them you love them and are thinking of them. Insert cute emoji, maybe a cute drawing too? You could even send a photo like a meme or a photo of something from one of your inside jokes.

2017-02-10-1486730641-9955465-IMG_7544.PNG

2. Write a love note the old fashioned way.

Grab a pen and paper to handwrite a love note. Slip it in your significant other’s lunch bag, briefcase, or purse so that they can get a nice surprise when they get to the office. You don’t have to be a poet to write a love note or even be the world’s best speller — just get something thoughtful down on paper.

3. Make them breakfast in bed.

Thanks to the power of the Internet and wide range of DIY cooking shows, we can all somewhat be chefs now. When your loved one is sleeping, sneak into the kitchen and whip them up a restaurant style breakfast. My favorite breakfast? Pancakes! Resources like My Great Recipes, Food Network, and Tasty offer a bunch of great ideas for a wide range of taste buds.

4. Pick them up a just because gift.

At a store or shopping online and see something that you know someone you love would like? Pick it up for them and give it to them just because you were thinking of them.

5. Plan an unexpected night out.

Have Friday night movie nights always been your thing? This Friday surprise your loved one with dinner at their favorite restaurant, a museum tour, or tickets to see a show — whatever it is that they have a different interest in besides movie night. For creative date ideas, check out our article Date Ideas Inspired by Great RomComs.

6. Just listen.

We often ask people, “how are you, how was your day?” But how often do you actually just sit back and listen? How often do you ask questions to get more information on how someone’s day actually was? Show you care by truly listening. Be a better listener by making the conversation more about them and less about you, ask engaging questions, and give the person speaking your undivided attention (no fiddling with your cellphone).

7. Do a chore for them that you know they don’t like doing or simply need help with.

Does she often do the laundry and you take out the trash? Does her car need to be cleaned but she hates cleaning it? Take the initiative to do something for your loved one that they typically do but either dislike doing and could use a helping hand with. Just do it for them without saying anything. Imagine the look on their face when they see it has been done and you did it without hesitation?

8. Send them a letter via snail mail.

In the age of email and texting, how many people do you know who still send letters via snail mail? I can’t think of any! The closest my circle comes to this is sending cards around the holidays. Send a loved one you don’t get to see or talk to nearly as much as you’d like to good old-fashioned snail mail letting them know you are thinking of them and are hoping they are well.

9. Show up with their favorite food.

As I write this one, I think of my one grandma. She loves when I make her apple cake! Whenever I visit her, I try to bring something that she likes to eat because I know doing so always brings an extra big smile to her face! Show up unexpectedly and bring food!

As another calendar Valentine’s Day turns a corner, may your heart be filled with great love!

Seven Steps to Completely Turn Your Life Around This Year

How can I change my life completely in the next year or two? originally appeared on Quorathe knowledge sharing network where compelling questions are answered by people with unique insights.

Answer by Max Lukominskyi, CMO at Sliceplanner, on Quora:

Changing your life completely is a huge step that requires a major effort. Nonetheless, the result is worth the struggle. Commit to this 7-step challenge and you will arrive at the desired destination already next year:

Begin With The End In Mind. While making a decision to commit to something, take a moment to get it crystal clear what change you would like to experience and what kind of person you would like to become within the next year or two. Imagine how you achieve your goal and try to design a blueprint of how you are going to move towards your desired destination. Then you will know exactly what steps to take.

Declutter Your Life. Slow down and take some time to simplify your life. Get rid of the things that have always been holding you back. Get rid of the stuff that associates with the life you would like to change. Stop comparing yourself with others and prioritize your goals. Clear your mind from the unnecessary thoughts and create more space in your life for new pure energy and massive wins.

Master Your Mindset. Embrace the truth: Everything worth doing is going to be neither easy nor fast. It holds true for this challenge as well. Therefore, be ready to face tough obstacles and deal with the unexpected issues. Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean you cannot succeed. It only means you need to be ready. Stop doubting your strengths. Make the goal to change your life completely your priority. Become obsessed. And get down to work.

Start Small. Your life is a set of little seemingly innocuous decisions, choices and actions. The repeated ones constitute your daily habits. These are the ones that eventually shape your life and define your level of productivity and success. Start small and strive to develop a good habit attitude by breaking bad habits and developing only routines that are the perfect fit for the life you would like to live.

Grow 0.1% A Day. Whatever you want to achieve, try to approach that goal with the constant pace: 0.1% a day. Since your personal growth has a compounding effect, these seemingly trivial steps will eventually allow you to grow 37.78% a year and become multiple times better than you are now already in two years. Commit to continuous and consistent growth. Do the things that take you closer to your aspirations every single day.

Avoid Negative People. Your environment is crucial. The chances are that you are not likely to experience any change if you stay in the stagnant and not challenging environment. You need to surround yourself with people who are better, smarter, stronger and faster. Choose your environment wisely and avoid negative people who are always too pessimistic and skeptical towards your goals. Get around greatness and make sure the people who you hang out with are supportive and inspiring.

Leave Your Comfort Zone. No change will come if your stay within your area of ease and convenience. All the opportunities for growth are far beyond your comfort zone. Learn to leave it on the consistent basis and do the things that scare you. Very soon you will find out that the life in your discomfort zone is not that frightening but rather full of new earlier unfamiliar, interesting and exciting things that indeed take you closer to your desired aspirations. Expand your comfort zone – change your life.

Azzaro Kicks Off Anniversary Year With Launch of Capsule Collection

AZZARO RISING: Loris Azzaro began celebrations of its 50th anniversary with the presentation on Wednesday of a capsule collection designed by socialites Bianca Brandolini and Eugenie Niarchos.
Gabriel de Linage, chief executive officer of the Paris-based fashion house, said it was the first of five key events scheduled throughout the year, ahead of the planned relaunch of its women’s ready-to-wear collection in 2018.
In March, it plans to open its first men’s store in France in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of Paris. This will be followed by a retrospective at an undisclosed location in May, to be accompanied by a book published by Editions de la Martinière.
The house is set to reveal soon a successor for Arnaud Maillard and Alvaro Castejón, its former artistic directors who exited their roles in June after a three-year stint. In addition, it plans to launch a men’s capsule collection in the fourth quarter.
“We are trying to develop men’s and women’s in parallel. They are both very strong segments: men in particular thanks to the perfume, which is very well-known, and women’s fashion thanks to couture, which is at the heart of Azzaro,” de Linage told WWD.

My Fearless Freshman Year (My Years In High School Book 1)

My Fearless Freshman Year (My Years In High School Book 1)

This is Book No. 1 entitled “My Fearless Freshman Year” in the 4 part series “My Years In High School”.Follow the adventures of Nancy Jane and her friends as they experience school, boys, partying, driving, dealing with Nancy Janes’ nemesis Lois Talker and more. Other titles in this series include:* Book #2 – My Silly Sophomore Year* Book #3 – My Just Get Over With It Junior Year* Book #4 – My Time To Get Serious Senior YearFollowing is an excerpt from Book #1 “My Fearless Freshman Year”.Hicston High School is located on the opposite side of town from where my house is located. When the school was built five years ago there was absolutely nothing close to the location of the school building site except an old drive-in theater which was located across the street.I remember going to the drive-in with my Mom and my brother Tommy when I was two or three years old. I don’t know how I can remember things when I was that young but I do. I even remember the movie that was playing. It was the Disney Movie The Absent Minded Professor with Fred MacMurray. I don’t know why they were showing such an old movie at the drive-in then… but then how would I, I was only two or three years old! As the school was being constructed a number of strip malls and fast food eating establishments began to pop up near the location of the school. Thank goodness the Hicston City Planners had the foresight to allow the development to happen. I just love fast food, especially In-N-Out Burger, they are the best! Being located on the opposite side of town getting to school each morning was going to be a challenge for me. When I was in Middle School I could sleep in until 20 to 30 minutes before the first bell. If my Mom got me up with the 20 to 30 minutes I could easily get dressed in my uniform, wolf down some breakfast, and make the 10 minute walk to school. Getting to High School was going to be more difficult. If only I had my driver’s license and a new car I could drive myself to school. Since I’m on

A New Year, A New Chapter, A New You

2017-01-16-1484601083-5847386-hrdvsypffasaustinschmid.jpg

The start of the New Year has me thinking about endings, beginnings, and the paths we take to lead us from one chapter to the next. How did you choose your direction? How did you decide to be a botanist, a nurse, or a stay-at-home Dad? For some, life’s course comes naturally–as for those who know what they want to be as early as high school. For others, those decisions come hard–as for those of us who struggle to find our way until a midlife crisis leads us from one place to another.

For me, the certainty that I would wind up as a writer became apparent when I was quite young–though other ideas cropped up along the way. At one point, I dreamed of being a psychiatrist who could help people heal from the disease my mother suffered from. At another, I was sure I would be a horse breeder, spending my life on a farm with all sorts of animals, as I had at summer camp. But the passion for writing won out during my freshman year in college, and when I turned twenty-one I started my first book.

After two decades of writing fiction, at forty years old, I discovered–to my surprise–that I had something important to say about myself. I had a new grasp on all that had happened to me and all that I, at last, understood about my own history. A strong urge to express these revelations and my conclusions about them led me to memoir. I decided to jump genres.

Memoir requires a particular kind of courage–a willingness to open up emotionally and go public with your understanding of your life, rather than putting your experiences and ideas into the mouths of imaginary characters. This sort of writing is a challenge for me in many ways. First and foremost, it’s about “getting over” myself and learning how to be humble. Then there is conquering the fear of being vulnerable with an unknown host of others. Last but not least, there is the complicated matter of writing about people who are so integral to the experiences I am sharing with the world.

2017-01-16-1484581907-2120275-xzw66yayvbaalexwigan.jpg

I get questions from readers about all these issues regularly, and my answer to them is always the same simple truth: I am driven to reach out to others via what I have learned through my own life. I can’t flinch from writing about it. I often receive emails (or sometimes letters) from those who tell me that Searching for Mercy Street helped them to understand their parents better and to forgive the inevitable errors made while raising them. And others write to say that Half in Love has helped them to understand more about depression and suicide, or to move them to seek medical help, or to speak more frankly about their emotions with family–or just to take the risk of reaching out to me, a total stranger who might not answer, even though I seem to be a kindred spirit.

Every one of these reactions makes the fear of baring my soul to the world worthwhile, and this is what fulfills me. It puts into perspective any desire for better sales figures or stellar reviews. In the end, affecting other people with my writing is all that matters to me, and I’m grateful that my life allows me to pursue such a goal.

I have known many who have scrambled for a long time before being able to make a mid-life decision to go in a new direction. One who left a flourishing law practice to write; one who ditched the security of a being a physician to take the risk of becoming a Silicon Valley entrepreneur; one who took years away from her career in journalism to sail the world with her husband and young children; one who decided to become a stay-at-home Dad so that his wife could pursue her dream; one who conquered depression over being childless and adopted instead; one who went back to school at age forty to become a minister.

The changes these people created for themselves required enormous bravery and a willingness to take a leap of faith. I admire them immensely. They gave me the guts to make yet another shift in my professional life, one over which I had been hesitating. Although it was not dissatisfaction that pushed me to leave the genre that I loved, however temporarily, at the outset of 2015 I tackled fiction once again. I chose to start a novel in spite of my insecurity and fear about critics who sometimes judge that my memoirs are my best efforts. But, of course, the decision was softened by the fact that I was lucky enough to be able to continue using my own personal stories in my newsletters, blogs and articles.

We might all look for inspiration, as I did twice, in the examples of the others I’ve written about above–particularly if we are unhappy with wherever life has led us thus far. The advent of a new year is the perfect time to try something fresh. Summon up your courage and unleash whatever it is that fires you up.

Anna Wintour, Anya Hindmarch, Victoria Beckham Recognized in Queen’s New Year Honor’s List

ROYAL RECOGNITION: Queen Elizabeth II has released her annual New Year honor’s list, with names including Anna Wintour, Anya Hindmarch and Victoria Beckham set to receive accolades in the coming year.
Wintour, the British-born, U.S.-based editor of Vogue and Condé Nast artistic director will be named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire or DBE, for her services in the fashion and journalism industries. She joins women including Vivienne Westwood, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Zandra Rhodes and Natalie Massenet.
The DBE will be Wintour’s second honor, as she was named OBE, or Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, in 2008. The Queen’s cabinet office noted that this second, higher accolade recognizes Wintour’s ongoing contribution to the fashion industry, and her help for emerging designers.
“Anna Wintour has been a tireless advocate for established and emerging designers. In the U.K. alone, she has promoted the careers of such talents as Sarah Burton, John Galliano, Christopher Bailey, Erdem Moralioglu and Christopher Kane,” said a spokesman for the Cabinet Office, the corporate headquarters of the British government.
Hindmarch is being recognized for her services to fashion and will be named Commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE. Hindmarch also

New Year, Real You

I wonder how many people will start 2017 with the phrase “new year, new me” swirling in their heads. It seems to be the catch-phrase of every January. Search for it in Google and you get about 650 million hits, all dishing out the same old tired advice.

And yet barely a week after the calendar page has been turned on January 1, there’s a whole host of tweets and links to articles about “why you’ve failed at your new years resolutions already” which, I don’t know about you, I always find incredibly motivating (note the treacle-thick sarcasm).

Let’s face it, motivation isn’t something you can bottle and decide to bring out on December 31 like a magnum of champagne. In my experience, it usually appears when you least expect it, at your lowest ebb, when you’re skirting the borders of rock bottom. For me, that did not coincide with the first day of the year but a lonely Monday in April nearly twelve years ago when the switch finally flicked. I was depressed, dangerously overweight and desperate for my life to change. I had been searching for a “new me” for what felt like forever.

What I learned that day, and in the months and years that followed, is that the “new you” you’ve been looking for usually turns out to be the you that’s been there all along.

The real you.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve nothing against new year’s resolutions. The quest for self improvement is a journey well worth taking – I would never dissuade anyone from doing so – but, for any of the changes you make to stick, it has to be a journey you make from the inside. Rather than focusing on attaining perfection, real change often begins with self acceptance, meeting yourself where you are, facing whatever needs to be faced, and then moving forward, slowly and gently, with patience.

In principle I quite like the idea of “new year, new you”. The freshness of the first page on a new calendar, the months and months of possibility ahead. If only life were actually that neat and straightforward.

The truth is, a “new you” can happen any time. Any time you choose.

Over a decade after my own moment of reckoning (not on January 1 but on April 25 instead) I’m actually still learning about the ‘new me’. Just as the ‘after photo’ is merely a moment in time and not something you can hold on to forever, nor is the ‘new you’. The ‘new me’ I became in 2005 is now long gone. My goal self is now a past self.

Trying to find a new me, it turned out, helped me to find the real me.

So, if you’re beginning 2017 keen to make some changes but feel the familiar dread because you’ve been down this very seductive self-improvement path before, I hope that’s a more helpful concept for you. You don’t have to eat quinoa or meditate with crystals just because everyone else seems to be. You just have to get in touch with yourself, who you are, what you want, what means something to you, what a good life looks like and feels like to you. When your goals are coming from a truly authentic place, from – as the Australian marathon runner Pat Farmer put it to me all those years ago – your heart of hearts, they won’t feel like items on a to-do list. They will make you feel truly alive.

New year? Real you.

I think that’s a resolution we can all keep.
