Shawn Mendes Designs Capsule Collection for Yoox

SHOP WITH SHAWN: International e-tailer Yoox has teamed with Canadian musician Shawn Mendes to launch an exclusive capsule collection, making its debut at the online store on July 12.
The capsule includes men’s and women’s pieces, such as leather biker jackets, T-shirts and sweatshirts showing graphics inspired by the graphics of Mendes’ latest album, called “Shawn Mendes.”
The collection retails from $ 121 to $ 1,500.

Earlier this year, Mendes appeared in the Calvin Klein Jeans and Underwear campaign. He also extended his partnership with Emporio Armani, which in 2017 chose the musician to appear in the brand’s timepiece campaign. The latest images were released just days before Mendes’ new international tour kicked off on March 7. After being nominated for two Grammy Awards at this year’s ceremony for the album “In My Blood,” the singer is now promoting his third, namesake effort.

Vogue Italia and Yoox Celebrate Upcycling Capsule

MILAN — For the second edition of The Next Green Talents award, Vogue Italia and Yoox invited seven young designers to create a unique silhouette using the sustainable technique of upcycling.
Guests flocked to the Palazzo Morando on Wednesday night to discover the selection of international designers handpicked by Sara Sozzani Maino, head of Vogue Talents. Each designer unveiled both a limited-edition silhouette, created using items from the Yoox archive and sold on the Yoox web site, and their latest collection, a selection of which will hit Yooxygen, the online store’s platform for emerging talents, in September.
British designer Bethany Williams had just flown in from London, where she received the Queen Elizabeth II award for her “Adelaide House” collection, which she presented during men’s fashion week in London. (The previous recipient of the award is Richard Quinn, who was graced with the presence of the Queen herself on the day of the ceremony.)
Alongside her fall 2019 collection, created in collaboration with a Liverpool-based shelter for women, Williams unveiled an upcycled denim look crafted with old Yoox prototypes. The denim was unstitched to create a completely new silhouette and screen-printed with illustrations by Giorgia Chiarion.

Yoox Net-a-porter, Bloomsbury Team on Fashion Video Archive Project

THE ARCHIVE COMES ALIVE: Yoox Net-a-porter is investing in education and the younger generations through a partnership with Bloomsbury Publishing that will make rare fashion-show footage available to the educational market.
YNAP has worked with Bloomsbury to digitize its runway archive collection between 1979 and 2003, before shows were automatically digitized. The result is more than 3,000 videos and hundreds of hours of footage that offer a window into fashion history and a new way for students to examine the evolution of the catwalk over the years, key collections and individual designers’ work.
The footage is supported by scholarly articles and video descriptions to make the archive easily discoverable. All accompanying content has been curated by Dr. Valerie Steele, fashion historian and director of the museum at Fashion Institute of Technology.
“We have always known the value of the archive to the educational community. It provides a great link to the future,” said Tara Tierney, YNAP’s digital collections curator.
Kathryn Earle, managing director at Bloomsbury Digital Resources, said the footage highlights the impact of some of the most influential designers of the period including the Antwerp Six, Rei Kawakubo and Hussein Chalayan.
