Justin Theroux’s Friendship with the Queer Eye Guys Is Just as Crazy as You’d Expect

If you guessed that Justin Theroux‘s newfound friendship with the stars of Queer Eye just had to be entertaining behind-the-scenes, well, you were quite right.

From the surprising way they became fab friends to the bizarre things they like to do together during their downtime, Theroux did not hold back on dishing all the details while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his new movie, The Spy Who Dumped Me.

Kimmel, who enjoyed a real-life friendship with the actor, asked about the crew Theroux seems to be spotted with so often on social media lately, and he sounded only slightly jealous about Theroux’s new pals.

“It hasn’t been the same without you this season because you moved to New York, and you have new friends now,” Kimmel noted before asking if he was friends with all of the Queer Eye stars or some of them. To that, Theroux admitted that he hasn’t become besties with the full-fledged “Fab Five” (yet) but that he is close to Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Antoni Porowski.

“They’ve sort of included me in their little wolf pack,” Theroux explained before diving into the surprising story of how they got to know each other in the first place.

“I was a big fan of the first season. I kind of binged it, and then I did one of those things that I’ve never done before in my life … I was just like ‘I’m just gonna DM them’ ’cause I saw in his stories that he was in New York,” he remembered. “I was making a quiche … I sent him a little and was like, ‘Hey, you probably won’t get this. This is Justin, and I’m making a quiche this Easter, so if you want to come by’ — I knew he was in Brooklyn or something because he was with Antoni, and he immediately hit me back and was like ‘oh my God, yes, okay, right away!’ So, he came over. Antoni didn’t come over that time, but he came over, we had quiche, and now it’s become this kind of thing whenever they’re in town.”

RELATEDJustin Theroux Hangs with Emma Stone and Queer Eye‘s Jonathan Van Ness: ‘JUST Bfffffs’

Considering Theroux has hardly strayed from his traditional muscle shirt with tight jeans and boots clothing combo, it’s probably not too terribly surprising to learn that the fashion gurus have yet to replace everything in his closet, but what you might be surprised to learn is that Theroux claims it’s actually him who does the heavy lifting for the crew’s costuming needs whenever they’re together.

“That was kind of the hope that I’d get these great tips and I’d have a makeover at my house. No, and actually it’s the opposite. I’m usually the one doing the shopping,” he explained. ‘Cause they like some of the stuff that I have in my house. One night we were hanging out and we were about to go out, and then Jonathan realized he needed a crop top. He was like, ‘Oh my God, I need a crop top.’ It was during Pride Week. So, I was like ‘Oh yeah, oh my God,’ so I got a t-shirt, and I cut off the sleeves … We wanted to do a crop top, the one like this that has tassels. We had the malfunction of we didn’t have beads at the bottom to weigh it down, so it just sort of looked like curly fries. Not my best crop top.”

The moment that’s bound to have everyone talking, however, is the night Theroux staged a little sex ed class in his living room.

The actor said that once he learned that his new friends have little to no exposure to the female form, well, he decided to have a little fun with it.

“They had never seen a vagina, aside from what you might see in a textbook or something like that. So, I thought that was a teachable moment,” Theroux remembered with a grin. “I went upstairs and got art supplies. I was like, ‘We’re going to all draw vaginas, and let’s see. I just wanted to … I was dying to know what in their brain that looked like. … So, they sat there and drew the vaginas, and they, to hilarious effect showed me what they came up with … Imagine the most rudimentary vagina.”

Unfortunately, we will have to leave the results up to our imagination because the images were blurred out, but it sounds like a real riot.

Last Jedi: You’d Be Surprised These Scenes Weren’t CGI

These days it’s generally assumed that anything in movies beyond the norm of reality — and even then, some of the humdrum stuff too — is achieved via CG. But that’s certainly not the case, as Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s special effects supervisor Chris Corbould could tell you. From Force-destroyed huts to scores of falling bombs and beyond, many of the effects in The Last Jedi were created the good old-fashioned practical way.

On the occasion of The Last Jedi’s release on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital, I spoke to Corbould — who has worked on everything from The Dark Knight to a bunch of James Bond movies to The Who’s rock opera Tommy. He broke down some of the secrets of his trade…

#TrumpNarratesPlanetEarth Goes Pretty Much The Way You’d Expect

President-elect Donald Trump has already begun selecting a transition team to help his move into the White House. And would you believe that some of his choices seem less than reasonable?

Most dubious is his pick to lead the transition for the EPA, Myron Ebell, a climate change skeptic. So with our own planet in mind, HuffPost Comedy and the internet parodied the outstanding nature series “Planet Earth” with  #TrumpNarratesPlanetEarth.

Apologies in advance to David Attenborough.

9 Things Your Hair Colorist Wishes You’d Stop Doing

The relationship we all have with our hair colorist is one of the most intimate we have outside of our family and friends. We trust them to conceal our roots or gray hair, and fix our bad at-home dye jobs (more on this later).

At the end of the day, your hair colorist has a job to do, but there are some key things you can do to make his or her life easier. Here’s a couple of bad habits your colorist wishes you’d break — after all, this is a relationship worth saving.

1. Don’t be late for your hair appointment. “Five to 10 minutes late is understandable,” says Kyle White, the lead colorist at Oscar Blandi Salon in New York City. “Life happens, there’s traffic or the babysitter was late. I totally get it, but when you are consistently 20 minutes late for your appointment, it says one thing to me. You think your time is way more valuable then mine, and every other client that will be kept waiting because of you.” The pro’s advice: If you are more than 15 minutes late, apologize profusely and reschedule.

2. Don’t be dishonest about your hair history. ”If there’s color on your hair or it’s chemically straightened, we need to know,” White says. “I promise we won’t think any less of you if your hair is not 100 percent natural or you had to see someone else while you were summering in the Hamptons.” A colorist may get angry if they use the incorrect dye formula because a client fibbed about their hair being “virgin” or using a box color the week prior, White explained. “Always be honest,” he says. “It could be the difference between beautiful hair and head full of straw.”

3. Don’t wear white or an expensive designer outfit to get your hair dyed. L’Oréal Paris celebrity colorist Kari Hill says, “When people come for hair color application dressed completely in white — makes me nervous!” White adds, “Also, I’m betting that you won’t care what color your hair is if we get a huge glob of bleach on that Birken!”

4. Don’t forget to bring a picture“You know the saying ‘A picture says a thousand words.’ Well, that’s never truer than when it comes to color,” says White. Pro trick: look for a photograph of someone with a similar skin tone, eye color and natural base hair color as your own because those shades will probably work best and be the most achievable.

5. Don’t show up with wet or dirty hair. Hill notes that you can’t color wet hair, so it wastes time having to blow dry it first and then apply color. “There’s also a false belief that it’s better to color on very dirty hair [but] an excessive amount of hair product residue on strands can impede color application,” she says.

6. Don’t move around while you are getting your hair colored. “I swear sometimes I think the clients are more interested in reading magazines and sipping cappuccinos then they are about getting their hair done right,” says White. “If you’re a moving target, things get messed up, highlights get placed incorrectly or a spot may be missed.”

7. Don’t distract your hairdresser by talking non-stop. “There’s no denying that there is a strong social aspect to a hair appointment, and many of my best friends started out as clients,” he says. “Keep in mind that intricate haircuts and color are complex procedures that require a reasonable amount of concentration.”

8. Don’t have unrealistic expectations about the outcome. Having black hair with a desire to go blonde in under an hour is impossible, according to Hill. “It doesn’t work time-wise, and you will never be totally pleased with rushed results,” she says.

9. Don’t forget to protect your fresh new hair color from the sun. “I’m tired of hearing clients tell me that they spent time in the sun and then complain about their color changing,” says Hill. “Hair oxidizes without the proper protection! I always advise on wearing hats or headscarves, limiting sun exposure and using products with UV filters.”

Mariah Carey’s Shoe Closet Is Just as Fabulous as You’d Imagine

In case the world needed a reminder that Mariah Carey has one of the most fabulous closets in the world, the pop diva gave us a little peek at her beautifully organized shoe salon. This snap just covers a section of her full collection, but let’s put the size of this in perspective: we’re looking at four stacked shelving areas just for her gold and brown heels. So, ahem, the entire area devoted to her shoes is beyond gigantic.

Always my favorite room in the house… #shoes #shoes #moreshoes

A photo posted by Mariah Carey (@mariahcarey) on

Mariah gave fans and the fashion-obsessed a more complete tour of her closet back in 2010 and unless she’s replicated those golden inlays on the floor, it’s the same space as seen in her latest Instagram. Her clothes are arranged in bays more similar to a store layout than a traditional closet, and, of her shoes, Mimi confessed she’s not bothered my pain.

“The style that I favor would be a high stiletto. The thing about my shoes is that they always hurt, but hey, if they look good…” she says in the video. “There was a time in my life when I only had one pair of shoes. I saved those shoes, but I can’t find them now.”

The singer has had a lot of time to work on her closet collection: she’s been on the scene for over twenty years now (“Emotions” topped charts in 1991!). For this May’s Billboard awards, she pulled out all the stops in a Tom Ford gown and Saint Laurent heels.

Not blessed with a Mariah-sized closet, but need more space? We’ve got seven ways to find more space with what you’ve got, no renovations required.

Oscar Winners Thank God A Lot In Acceptance Speeches, But Not As Often As You’d Think

Oscar winners always thank God, right?

The stars who win big at the Oscars aren’t looking to heaven during their acceptance speeches — they’re looking at Steven Spielberg.

The renowned American film director is thanked more often during Oscars acceptance speeches than the Good Lord Almighty himself, Vocativ reports.

With the 87th Academy Awards slated to air on Sunday, Vocativ mined through 1,396 acceptance speeches currently archived on Academy’s website to measure who got the most “Thank Yous” from winners.

Spielberg came in at number one, with 42 mentions, followed by Harvey Weinstein, James Cameron, George Lucas, Peter Jackson. God came in at number six, with just 19 mentions.

It should be noted that a number of acceptance speeches from the earliest years of the awards haven’t yet been added to the Academy’s acceptance speech database. As a result, Vocativ’s survey isn’t conclusive.

Still, it seems the dream-come-true moment inspires many winners to give thanks to forces greater than themselves. Here are a few of the celebrities who gave God a thumbs up during their time in the spotlight.

They number a thousand for each one of the red ribbons that we wear here tonight. They finally rest in the warm embrace of the gracious creator of us all. A healing embrace that cools their fevers, that clears their skin, and allows their eyes to see the simple, self-evident, common sense truth that is made manifest by the benevolent creator of us all and was written down on paper by wise men, tolerant men, in the city of Philadelphia two hundred years ago. God bless you all. God have mercy on us all. And God bless America.

This is, you know, it fills me with great joy, but I am also filled with a lot of sadness tonight because I’m accepting an award at such a strange time. And, you know, my experiences in making this film made me very aware of the sadness and the dehumanization of people at times of war, and the repercussions of war. Category: Writing (Original Screenplay)
Film Title: Milk
Presenter: Steve Martin, Tina Fey
Date & Venue: February 22, 2009; Kodak Theatre

When I was thirteen years old, my beautiful mother and my father moved me from a conservative Mormon home in San Antonio, Texas, to California, and I heard the story of Harvey Milk. And it gave me hope. It gave me the hope to live my life. It gave me the hope one day I could live my life openly as who I am and that maybe even I could even fall in love and one day get married. I wanna, I wanna thank my mom, who has always loved me for who I am even when there was pressure not to. But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us thirty years ago, I think he’d want me to say to all of the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told that they are less than by their churches or by the government or by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value and that no matter what anyone tells you God does love you, and that very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights, federally, across this great nation of ours. Thank you. Thank you. And thank you,God, for giving us Harvey Milk.

Winner: Oprah Winfrey
Year: 2011 (84th) Academy Awards
Category: Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award
Presenter: Lawrence Gordon, John Travolta, Maria Shriver, Ayanna Hall
Date & Venue: November 12, 2011; The Governors Awards (Grand Ballroom, Hollywood & Highland Center)

The first line of the book [The Color Purple] is, “Dear God, I’m fourteen years old…” And I had lived that life and couldn’t imagine that someone was able to put into words what I had already experienced. And so began this journey that I was able to really understand that God’s hand, or power greater than myself, “the forces,” as Sidney Poitier calls them, were engaged in leading my life to a plane and a level that I had not even imagined. But I released myself to those forces, and literally said inside myself, “Thy will be done.”

Winner: Matthew McConaughey
Year: 2013 (86th) Academy Awards
Category: Actor in a Leading Role
Film Title: Dallas Buyers Club
Presenter: Jennifer Lawrence
Date & Venue: March 2, 2014; Dolby Theatre

First off, I want to thank God, ’cause that’s who I look up to. He has graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or any other human hand. He has shown me that it’s a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates. In the words of the late Charlie Laughton, who said, “When you’ve got God, you’ve got a friend. And that friend is you.”

Winner: Morgan Neville, Gil Friesen and Caitrin Rogers (Janet Friesen accepted for her husband; accompanied on stage by film subject Darlene Love)
Year: 2013 (86th) Academy Awards
Category: Documentary (Feature)
Film Title: 20 Feet from Stardom
Presenter: Bradley Cooper
Date & Venue: March 2, 2014; Dolby Theatre

Darlene Love: Lord God, I praise you and I am so happy to be here representing the ladies of “20 Feet from Stardom.” [Sings:] “I sing because I’m happy. I sing because I’m free. ‘Cause His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.” Alton, I love you.

Confirmation: Dressing Kate Middleton is Absolutely as Amazing as You’d Think

When I got to sneak backstage after Friday’s Zimmermann show to talk to the designer, you know what I had on my must-ask-about list: Kate Middleton. The duchess put the Australian label firmly on the map when she wore its crisp white eyelet dress Down Under last April.

“That definitely would have been one of the biggest things that’s happened to us in 20 years of business,” designer Nicky Zimmermann told me with a grin. “It affected our parents, our family. Everybody loved it! If you’re Australian, British royalty is a big deal and it meant a lot to a lot of people. She’s the epitome of a sophisticated, beautiful young woman, and we are massive fans.”

Nicky was on holiday with her fam when Kate decided to wear the frock (typically designers and brands have no idea that a major celeb is going to wear a piece until they’re out and being photographed).

“I was walking through caves with my children with no communication,” she said when I asked when and where she found out. “I got back to the house and every person that I was with, their phones were going berserk. We flipped on the news and ‘Kate Middleton Wears Zimmermann on Manly Beach’ was the title.”

Ahh! I can’t even imagine how thrilling that moment must have been.

If you’re wondering what Kate could wear from the just-debuted fall collection, I’m one step ahead of you.

I’d love to see her in this multi-colored gown. The ruffles at the shoulders and voluminous skirt moved so beautifully on the runway, I’m sure the magic would be repeated on a red carpet or stepping out of one of the monarchy’s cars.

The neckline of this suede beauty is a little too low for Kate, but I think she’d look fantastic in it.

Could you see Kate in either of these fall designs? Ever wondered how crazy exciting it must be to realize that someone so famous is wearing something you created?

Jason Momoa’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Audition Tape Is Better Than You’d Imagine

Khal Drogo is no doubt a beast of a man, so it would only make sense that Jason Momoa’s “Game of Thrones” audition tape would take that to the max.

In the audition tape, which was originally uploaded to YouTube in 2012, but has since gained more traction, the actor doesn’t brood or speak Drogo’s native tongue, Dothraki. Instead, Momoa breaks out into a Haka, or an ancestral war cry or dance of the Māori people of New Zealand that was typically performed before battle. The dance is incredibly intense and a bit terrifying — this guy would definitely give you a golden crown if you messed with him.

Back in August when Momoa stopped by AOL, the actor said he was originally given a Drogo scene to read for his audition that consisted of the character menacingly saying “no” over and over (not very exciting). After a suggestion from an actor friend, Momoa decided to try out the Haka for this audition. The aggressive dance, which Momoa described as “not a scene you do before a love scene,” impressed D. B. Weiss and David Benioff so much that they had him come back and perform it for a second time, which is what the above video shows.

Momoa is such a pro at the Haka (he even did it on a beach in 2013) that we wonder if he’ll incorporate it into his Aquaman.
